The companyâs most recent results exhibited potent growth and comparable sales advancements. However, the stockâs valuation should be accounted for despite McDonaldâs overall qualities and strong capital returns.McDonaldâs (MCD) stock makes for a reliable investment that is likely to keep producing positive shareholder returns for decades to come. However, precisely because investors have flocked to the stockâs relatively more secure investment case lately, McDonaldâs valuation has reached rather elevated levels. For this reason, I am neutral on the stock.McDonaldâs Corporation doesnât really need an introduction. Itâs relatively safe to assume that most people have had a burger in one of the McDonaldâs restaurants at some point in their lifetimes. The company has active operations in 119 countries, with around 37,552 of its 40,344 restaurants being franchised, representing roughly 93% of the companyâs total locations. This is where the magic of McDonaldâs business model lies. The company produces the majority of its revenues from the real estate and royalties its franchisees pay. Thus, McDonaldâs is not really concerned about the overall hassle required to actually run its franchised locations. Consequently, McDonaldâs cash flows are mostly frictionless and high margin. These qualities, combined with McDonaldâs excellent track record of capital returns and shareholder value creation, have resulted in its stock becoming a prime destination for investors during times of increased uncertainty. This is evident in the stockâs performance over the past year.Specifically, McDonaldâs stock has gained about 8%, while the S&P 500 (SPX) has declined 11% during this period.McDonaldâs Continues to Grow, Excluding One-Off EventsMcDonaldâs Q1-2022 results came in rather strong, with the company recording revenues of $5.67 billion, 10.6% higher year-over-year. Revenue growth was driven by excellent performance in both company-operated restaurants and franchised restaurants. Specifically, revenues grew 6.5% at company-owned locations and 13.4% at franchised locations.Further, global comparable sales grew 11.8% due to comparable sales growth across all divisions. International comparable sales strongly contributed to this, as they increased 20.4% for the quarter.International comparable sales growth mirrored both strong operating performance and the gradual reduction of COVID-related government constraints in most overseas markets.Net income equaled $1.1 billion or $1.48 per share against $1.54 billion or $2.08 per share in the prior-year period. However, note that these GAAP figures were affected by extraordinary events.Specifically, excluding the $0.13 per share expense to aid the companyâs Russian and Ukrainian operations and a non-operating payment to reserve for a possible settlement regarding an international tax matter of $0.67 per share, EPS for the quarter would be $2.28.This represents a year-over-year increase of 19% (22% on a constant-currency basis), which is higher than revenue growth, reflecting increased restaurant margins amid economies of scale kicking in.Dividend Growth Prospects Remain ImpressiveMcDonaldâs has attained the Dividend Aristocrat title. Specifically, the company has hiked its dividend for 46 consecutive years. The last dividend hike this past September was by 7%, continuing the companyâs streak since 1976. Notably, this hike implied an acceleration from McDonaldâs prior dividend hike of merely 3%, which was the softest hike since 2002.MCD Stock Appears Relatively OvervaluedIn terms of its valuation, McDonaldâs doesnât provide a specific outlook. Thus, Iâm utilizing the consensus EPS estimates instead, which forecast $9.88 for Fiscal 2022.This implies a forward P/E close to 25.5x, which is a quite loftier multiple compared to McDonaldâs past decade-long range of around 15-20x. The prolonged valuation expansion was due to declining interest rates over the past decade. With investors flocking to the stock in the current environment, the premium has lasted. However, with rates on the rise, and the multiple near its highest level in recent history, I believe shares are overvalued and have little to no margin of safety against a valuation compression. This shortage of a margin of safety is also displayed in the stockâs dividend yield, which stands close to 2.2%. Despite the companyâs consistent dividend hikes, the yield is also at the low end of its historical range due to this expansion. Thus, besides a thinner margin of safety, current investors are likely to be subject to softer total return prospects, moving forward. There is a possibility that the market expects McDonaldâs dividend growth pace to remain in the high-single digits following the latest dividend hikes. This could be another reason that investors consider when trying to justify the current valuation.Based on the consensus EPS estimate and current annualized dividend run rate, the payout ratio stands at 56%. Thus, above-average dividends hikes could be supported. Nonetheless, thatâs not a good enough reason to justify such a high premium, in my view.Wall Streetâs Take on MCD StockTurning to Wall Street, McDonaldâs has a Strong Buy consensus rating based on 22 Buys and two Holds assigned in the past three months. At $280.25, the average McDonaldâs price target implies 11% upside potential. Conclusion â A Reliable Long-Term Investment with Short-Term RisksMcDonaldâs remains a reliable company, featuring a genius business model attached to multiple positive qualities. The companyâs most recent results exhibited potent growth and comparable sales advancements, illustrating the strength of these qualities in a rather uncertain environment.Nevertheless, with McDonaldâs attracting increased investor interest in the current trading environment, the stock has likely become relatively overvalued.Consequently, while the stock may make for a fruitful long-term dividend-growth investment, its short-term performance may be negatively impacted by the current premium valuation multiple.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":236,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9078271137,"gmtCreate":1657704048630,"gmtModify":1676536048766,"author":{"id":"3574292418409419","authorId":"3574292418409419","name":"Amok","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574292418409419","authorIdStr":"3574292418409419"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9078271137","repostId":"1183317786","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":439,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9078271093,"gmtCreate":1657704009112,"gmtModify":1676536048759,"author":{"id":"3574292418409419","authorId":"3574292418409419","name":"Amok","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574292418409419","authorIdStr":"3574292418409419"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9078271093","repostId":"2251812481","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":349,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9078983602,"gmtCreate":1657616431506,"gmtModify":1676536034742,"author":{"id":"3574292418409419","authorId":"3574292418409419","name":"Amok","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574292418409419","authorIdStr":"3574292418409419"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Gd","listText":"Gd","text":"Gd","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9078983602","repostId":"2250915746","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":322,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9078983991,"gmtCreate":1657616418413,"gmtModify":1676536034750,"author":{"id":"3574292418409419","authorId":"3574292418409419","name":"Amok","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574292418409419","authorIdStr":"3574292418409419"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Gd","listText":"Gd","text":"Gd","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9078983991","repostId":"1179156413","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1179156413","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1657612945,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1179156413?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-07-12 16:02","market":"other","language":"en","title":"Crypto News: Networks Up Hiring Efforts, Even in the Face of a Bear Market","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1179156413","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"A host of crypto companies are laying off their workforces as market conditions worsen still. However","content":"

A host of crypto companies are laying off their workforces as market conditions worsen still.

However, KuCoin(KCS-USD) announced today it will be hiring 300 new employees, even in the midst of a bear market.

The company is the newest addition to a group of platforms looking to expanding in the bear market rather than contract.

With the way the crypto market has been going in recent months, one might expect companies in the market to be in a panicked frenzy right now. Indeed, the global market capitalization of cryptocurrency is well below $1 trillion and the market is in its weakest state in years. But in a bit of unexpected crypto news, it seems some companies are attempting to outlast the bear market by going on the offense. Theyâre doing so through labor force increases.

A market crash is plaguing the cryptocurrency world right now, and itâs causing a flood of money out of the space. While only some are sticking to their proverbial guns and buying the dip, many more investors are taking their funds and running. But this is causing a great deal of stress on companies themselves. DeFi platformsâ liquidities are drying up incredibly quickly, pushing some to freeze withdrawals entirely in an effort to calm things down.

But crypto companiesâ workforces are in an even worse state than their balance sheets. With companies suddenly losing millions or billions of dollars in the blink of an eye, some canât pay their employees. This is leading to a trend of mass layoffs washing over the market. Companies like Geminiare paring their workforces down by 10%, while others like Coinbase(NASDAQ:COIN) are reneging on job offers in an attempt to keep paying existing workers.

Frankly, the market is an absolute mess. But there are a great deal of industry leaders who are less affected by these factors, and they say things arenât as bad as they may seem. To prove it, theyâre putting more money down and expanding rather than pinching pennies and shrinking.

Crypto News: Which Companies Are Hiring in a Bear Market?

KuCoin(KCS-USD) is one of the few crypto platforms thatâs not just weathering the bear market, but thriving in it. The exchange is making for one of the biggest crypto news stories of the week. It is lashing out against speculation that it will be laying off many of its employees.

The company is denying these rumors today through CEO Johnny Lyu. Lyu says the company has not made any job cuts, nor does it have any plans to in the future. On the contrary, he says KuCoin will be hiring 300 new employees over the course of the next few months. âWe believe that our bet on growth in times of market turbulence is the only correct decision that helps us maintain a high bar,â Lyu says.

KuCoin is not alone in this theory that the best defense is a good offense. Indeed, the global market capitalization of cryptocurrency is well below $1 trillion and the market is in its weakest state in years. But in a bit of unexpected crypto news, it seems some companies are attempting to outlast the bear market by going on the offense. Theyâre doing so through labor force increases.A market crash is plaguing the cryptocurrency world right now, and itâs causing a flood of money out of the space. Companies like Geminiare paring their workforces down by 10%, while others like Coinbase(NASDAQ:COIN) are reneging on job offers in an attempt to keep paying existing workers.Frankly, the market is an absolute mess. But there are a great deal of industry leaders who are less affected by these factors, and they say things arenât as bad as they may seem. To prove it, theyâre putting more money down and expanding rather than pinching pennies and shrinking.Crypto News: Which Companies Are Hiring in a Bear Market?KuCoin(KCS-USD) is one of the few crypto platforms thatâs not just weathering the bear market, but thriving in it. The exchange is making for one of the biggest crypto news stories of the week. It is lashing out against speculation that it will be laying off many of its employees. The company is denying these rumors today through CEO Johnny Lyu. Lyu says the company has not made any job cuts, nor does it have any plans to in the future. On the contrary, he says KuCoin will be hiring 300 new employees over the course of the next few months. âWe believe that our bet on growth in times of market turbulence is the only correct decision that helps us maintain a high bar,â Lyu says.KuCoin is not alone in this theory that the best defense is a good offense. Last month, Binance(BNB-USD) had investors scratching their heads when in the middle of the worst of the market dive, it announced plans to hire up to 2,000 new employees. Kraken, another sizable exchange, is also keeping up hiring efforts with plans to fill 500 new roles.Other companies on a hiring kick amid the bear market are Ripple(XRP-USD), Circle, Polygon(MATIC-USD), Everstake and OpenSea.Two others, Nexo(NEXO-USD) and FTX, are hiring and even going a step further. Nexo is planning a series of acquisitions, capitalizing on other platformsâ struggles. It is currently in talks to buy DeFi platform Vauld. That will be data that will be closely watched by analysts and investors alike, thatâs very key.âLooking ahead, analysts anticipate overall S&P 500 earnings to expand by 5.6% in the second quarter, or downwardly revised from an expected 6.8% at the start of April, according to Refintiv data. This would mark the slowest quarter of growth since the Q4 of 2020.Meanwhile, the financials sector, which includes the big banks, could be in for a rough earnings season based on tough comparisons to last year, including the release of loan loss reserves, according to Chris Haverland, a strategist at Wells Fargo Investment Institute.
