The company's product portfolio is home to several well-known brands like Sprite, Fanta, and of course, Cola-Cola. Moreover, the beverage giant has an exceptionally strong balance sheet, with over $15.6 billion in cash and equivalents at the end of the most recent quarter. It also generates ample free cash flows, which have averaged $8.79 billion annually over the prior five years. What's more, most analysts expect Coca-Cola's free cash flows to grow modestly next year, despite the softening global economy.

Coca-Cola also rewards its shareholders with a generous dividend program. The company has increased its dividend for 61 consecutive years, making it a Dividend King. That's more than double the 1.62% average yield of the S&P 500.

The only major drawback is that Coca-Cola's payout ratio is on the high side at 74.7%.This elevated payout ratio could limit future dividend growth, although the company's remarkable ability to continually grow its free cash flows suggests otherwise.

KO Free Cash Flow (Quarterly) data by YCharts

Johnson & Johnson: A top dividend at a reasonable price

Johnson & Johnson, or J&J for short, is another Dividend King that offers a compelling combination of growth, stability, and income. After spinning off its consumer health business earlier this year, the company's core revenue drivers going forward will be pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Its diverse business model helps it to weather major risk factors, such as patent expirations, regulatory hurdles, and competitive pressures. The company also has a robust pipeline of innovative drugs and medical devices that form the foundation for its substantial competitive moat.

On top of its impressive product portfolio, J&J sports a solid financial position, with over $28.5 billion in cash and equivalents at the end of the most recent quarter. It also produces exceptional free cash flows, which have typically come in at over 20% of annual sales. The healthcare behemoth's enormous free cash flows allow it to invest in pipeline development, capitalize on business development opportunities, and return billions to shareholders in the form of dividends and share buybacks.

Speaking of the dividend, J&J has a long history of dividend growth, having raised its dividend for 61 consecutive years. It currently pays an annual dividend of $4.76 per share, which equates to an annual yield of 3.00%. Like Coca-Cola, J&J's payout ratio of 92.9% is on the high side, but its proven ability to grow sales and free cash flows augurs well for its long-term sustainability. Analysts had projected 109 million.Disney's disappointing subscriber additions resemble Netflix's last quarter. But Disney charges far less for Disney+ than Netflix charges its average customer, making slowing growth more worrying if it continues.Disneyseems to have picked up a bit ofNetflix-itis.Just as Netflix added fewer than 4 million global subscribers in the first quarter, disappointing investors, Disney announced it now has 103.6 million Disney+ subscribers, far less than the109 million estimated by analysts.Disney shares slumped about 4% in after-hours trading.Superficially, both Disney and Netflix can explain away the disappointing growth by citing the surge in viewers earlier in the pandemic. The logic is simple: Far more people signed up for Disney+ and Netflix in the first six months of the pandemic than the companies had counted on. Given the surge, it's only natural that growth would pull back to more \"normal\" levels as the pandemic winds down.Further, both Disney and Netflix can safely assume that subscriber growth will accelerate in the second half of the year as show production begins again in earnest and high-profile content — such as \"Loki\" and \"Luca\" for Disney — comes to streaming video later this year. But there's one significant difference between the two companies where Disney falls far short: average revenue per user.Disney+'s average revenue per user, excluding India's Hotstar, was $5.61 per month. Netflix's ARPU last quarter in the U.S. and Canada was $14.25 per month — up 9% from a year ago.If you're going to have slumping growth, you want your customers paying as much as possible. Disney's Hulu subscription video on-demand service has higher ARPU — $12.08 per month — but its growth was negligible, up just 2 cents per month from a year ago. Hulu has 37.8 million subscribers, which rises to 41.6 million when including those who also purchase live TV.None of this is particularly concerning yet for Disney Chief Executive Officer Bob Chapek, who noted \"every single market has exceeded expectations\" in terms of global subscriber additions. He also pointed out that Disney is still expanding to new countries, with Malaysia and Thailand coming in June. But Disney+ has vaulted into the streaming big leagues. In 2020, the logical comparison for Disney+ wasHBO Max,Peacockand other new media streaming services.Given Disney's success, this year's comparison will be Netflix. Disney has already projected 230 million to 260 million subscribers by 2024. That's Netflix-land. Netflix has about 208 million customers.Netflix has been able to raise prices gradually over the years without stopping global growth. Disney may be able to do the same — but the stark differences in ARPU between the two companies illustrate the long road ahead.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":313,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":198888710,"gmtCreate":1620951019030,"gmtModify":1704350924878,"author":{"id":"3574483362627447","authorId":"3574483362627447","name":"Junski","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574483362627447","authorIdStr":"3574483362627447"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Almost time to travel again. These deals provide companies an alternative route for going public, one that bypasses the traditional initial public offering process.Sea, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, held its IPO in 2017. GoTo’s merger has not been finalized, and both Gojek and Tokopedia are still private companies.Lauria said his firm estimates that by 2025 there will be “a few hundred acquisitions being led primarily by these decacorns.” The term “decacorn” refers to a start-up valued at more than $10 billion.Lauria said Southeast Asia’s start-up ecosystem may also be reaching a stage where some investors want to cash out.″(They) won’t necessarily be pushing for the company to sell itself, but they’re gonna be looking for secondary buyers. They’re going to be very interested in a merger, M&A sort of deal,” he said.“The secondary markets — which have been very, very low in Southeast Asia — we expect very large pickup there,” he added.Undervalued sectorsAs for sectors with growth potential in Southeast Asia, Lauria said he still thinks fintech is “very undervalued.”“There’s huge opportunity ahead because Visa and MasterCard don’t have the same penetration in Southeast Asia, so alternative payments is going to be huge,” he explained.Health care and education are also areas of interest.“Anything related to health tech will be big,” he said, and investors should “definitely” be looking at education tech.“In Southeast Asia it’s going to evolve very differently than the Western world, and we’re going to see some really interesting innovations here,” he said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":485,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":374301949,"gmtCreate":1619414656981,"gmtModify":1704723486533,"author":{"id":"3574483362627447","authorId":"3574483362627447","name":"Junski","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574483362627447","authorIdStr":"3574483362627447"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Netflix has become the biggest production studio in the world.","listText":"Netflix has become the biggest production studio in the world.","text":"Netflix has become the biggest production studio in the world.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/374301949","repostId":"1101649274","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1101649274","pubTimestamp":1619413101,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1101649274?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-26 12:58","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Netflix snags 7 awards, nearly doubling its all-time Oscars tally","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1101649274","media":"CNBC","summary":"In one night,Netflixhas nearly doubled its number of Oscar wins.\nHeading into Sunday's 93rd annual A","content":"
\n
In one night,Netflixhas nearly doubled its number of Oscar wins.\nHeading into Sunday's 93rd annual Academy Awards ceremony, the streaming service had 36 Oscar nominations across 17 films —the most of ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The second-highest tally went toDisney, which took home five awards.\nSince 2013, when Netflix earned its first nomination for best documentary feature for \"The Square,\" the platform has taken home eight Academy Awards. Now, its collection is 15 strong.\nHere are the awards Netflix won Sunday night:\n\nBest hairstyling and makeup for \"Ma Rainey's Black Bottom\"\nBest costume design for \"Ma Rainey's Black Bottom\"\nBest documentary feature for \"My Octopus Teacher\"\nBest live-action short for \"Two Distant Strangers\"\nBest animated short for \"If Anything Happens I Love You\"\nBest production design for \"Mank\"\nBest cinematography for \"Mank\"\n\n\"Ma Rainey's Black Bottom\" earned Netflix two wins: best hairstyling and makeup as well as best costume design.\nMia Neal and Jamika Wilson, two-thirds of the hairstyling and makeup team who worked on the film, made history on Sunday. The pair are the first Black women to receive a nomination for best makeup and hairstyling and, now, the first to win. Makeup artist Sergio Lopez-Rivera is also part of the Oscar-winning team.\nNetflix was expected to also take home the win for best actor, as the late Chadwick Boseman had posthumously received the best acting awards at the Critics Choice, Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild awards this year for his performance in \"Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.\" However, the award went to Anthony Hopkins for his heartbreaking performance in \"The Father.\"\nOscars 2021 coverage from CNBC\nRead more about this year's Academy Awards:\n\nOscars 2021: Live Updates and Winners from the 93rd Academy Awards\n'Nomadland' leads the pack for best picture, but best actress award is wide open\nAs women directors enter the Oscar spotlight, here are 13 filmmakers to watch\nNetflix earns most Academy Award nominations in a year where diversity shines\n10 snubs and surprises from this year's Academy Award nominations\n\nThe streaming service's film \"Mank,\" which centers around \"Citizen Kane\" co-writer Herman Mankiewicz, led the pack with 10 nominations. It secured two wins. One for best production design and one for best cinematography.\nNetflix was also awarded best live-action short, best animated short and best documentary feature.\nThe tech company has steadily increased its nominations at Hollywood's top awards show over the last eight years, proving that it has made quality decisions about the product it has acquired or produced in-house.\nNetflix is known for packing its platform with content in order to keep subscribers coming month after month, but it's also drawing top talent. This Oscar class alone included names like Aaron Sorkin, Viola Davis, Chadwick Boseman, David Fincher, Sacha Baron Cohen, as well as Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.\nNominations alone are enough to bring prestige to the streaming service, but wins can be even more enticing to filmmakers looking for more creative freedom in the industry.\nThe trophies also could coax new subscribers to join the service if they haven't seen the winning films. That would be a welcome development given the disappointing subscriber growth Netflix posted in the first quarter. we want to be a multi-planet species,” Musk said on Friday.\nWhile the company is flying astronauts with its Falcon 9 rockets and Crew Dragon capsules, SpaceX is working to develop Starship: An enormous stainless steel rocket, designed to be fully reusable and carry people to the moon and Mars.\n\nSpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk remains focused on his vision for the company: Establishing a permanent human presence on Mars, with its Starship rockets carrying people to and from the red planet.\n“We don’t want to be one of those single planet species, we want to be a multi-planet species,” Musk said on Friday, speaking after the company launched its Crew-2 mission to orbit.\n“It’s been now almost half a century since humans were last on the moon. That’s too long, we need to get back there and have a permanent base on the moon — again, like a big permanently occupied base on the moon. And then build a city on Mars to become a spacefaring civilization, a multi-planet species,” Musk also said.\nStarship is the enormous stainless steel rocket that SpaceX has been building and testing at its development facility in Boca Chica, Texas. Starship’s goal is to launch cargo and people on missions to the moon and Mars. Current Starship prototypes stand at about 150 feet tall, or about the size of a 15-story building, and each one is powered by three Raptor rocket engines.\nStarship prototype rocket SN10 stands on the launchpad at the company’s facility in Boca Chica, Texas.\nMusk has previously estimated that it will cost about $5 billion to fully develop Starship, although SpaceX has not disclosed how much it has spent on the program to date. The company has steadily raised funds in the past few years, to fund both Starship and its similarly ambitious Starlink project, with SpaceX’s valuation soaring to about $74 billion— making it one of the most valuable private companies in the world.\nAdditionally, SpaceX last week won a $2.9 billion contract from NASA, to help the space agency land astronauts on the moon’s surface with the first crewed mission targeting 2024.\n″[Starship has] mostly been funded internally thus far and it’s pretty expensive. As you can tell, if you’ve been watching videos, we’ve blown up a few of them,” Musk said.\nThe company has performed multiple successful test flights of Starship, although landing attempts after the last four high-altitude flights ended in fiery explosions. Despite the the prototypes’ destruction, SpaceX sees the test flights as progress toward creating a rocket that is fully reusable. SpaceX’s current Falcon fleet of rockets is partially reusable, as the company can land and reuse the rocket’s boosters.\nBut Musk hopes Starship transforms space travel into something more akin to commercial air travel. The rocket’s enormous size would also make it capable of launching several times as much cargo at once — for comparison, while SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rockets can send as many as 60 Starlink satellites at a time, SpaceX says Starship will be able to launch 400 Starlink satellites at a time.\nMusk remains “highly confident” that SpaceX will land humans on Mars by 2026, saying last December that it’s an achievable goal “about six years from now.” He added that SpaceX plans to send a Starship rocket without crew “in two years.”\nAn artist rendering of SpaceX’s Starship rockets on the surface of Mars.\nIn the meantime, SpaceX has many milestones to go before Starship can carry passengers. The rocket has yet to reach orbit. Musk last year said that the company will fly “hundreds of missions with satellites before we put people on board.”\nMusk may be focused on Mars, but the hurdles of Starship’s development are not lost on the space billionaire.\n“It’s a tough vehicle to build because we’re trying to crack this nut of a rapid and fully reusable rocket,” Musk said. “But the thing that’s really important to revolutionize space is a rapidly reusable rocket that’s reliable, too.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":262,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":348020859,"gmtCreate":1617870471571,"gmtModify":1704704160597,"author":{"id":"3574483362627447","authorId":"3574483362627447","name":"Junski","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574483362627447","authorIdStr":"3574483362627447"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Let’s hope so.","listText":"Let’s hope so.","text":"Let’s hope so.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/348020859","repostId":"1122205122","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1122205122","pubTimestamp":1617869163,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1122205122?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-08 16:06","market":"us","language":"en","title":"JPMorgan’s Chief Sees a Boom Coming","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1122205122","media":"The New York Times","summary":"Jamie Dimon tells the bank’s investors to prepare for an economic upswell.Jamie Dimon thinks a boom ","content":"
Jamie Dimon tells the bank’s investors to prepare for an economic upswell.

Jamie Dimon thinks a boom is coming — but worries about too much of a good thing.Credit...Jeenah Moon/Reuters

Dear shareholders …

The annual letter to shareholders by JPMorgan Chase’s chief Jamie Dimonwas just published. GSX Techedu Inc., Baidu Inc. -- all of which had soared this year, sometimes confounding traders who couldn’t fathom why.

One part of Hwang’s portfolio, which has been traded in blocks since Friday by Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo & Co., was worth almost $40 billion last week. Bankers reckon that Archegos’s net capital -- essentially Hwang’s wealth -- had reached north of $10 billion. And as disposals keep emerging, estimates of his firm’s total positions keep climbing: tens of billions, $50 billion, even more than $100 billion.

It evaporated in mere days.

“I’ve never seen anything like this -- how quiet it was, how concentrated, and how fast it disappeared,” said Mike Novogratz, a career macro investor and former partner at Goldman Sachs who’s been trading since 1994. “This has to be one of the single greatest losses of personal wealth in history.”

Late Monday in New York, Archegos broke days of silence on the episode.

“This is a challenging time for the family office of Archegos Capital Management, our partners and employees,” Karen Kessler, a spokesperson for the firm, said in an emailed statement. “All plans are being discussed as Mr. Hwang and the team determine the best path forward.”

The cascade of trading losses has reverberated from New York to Zurich to Tokyo and beyond, and leaves myriad unanswered questions, including the big one: How could someone take such big risks, facilitated by so many banks, under the noses of regulators the world over?

One part of the answer is that Hwang set up as a family office with limited oversight and then employed financial derivatives to amass big stakes in companies without ever having to disclose them. Another part is that global banks embraced him as a lucrative customer, despite a record of insider trading and attempted market manipulation that drove him out of the hedge fund business a decade ago.

A disciple of hedge-fund legend Julian Robertson, Sung Kook “Bill” Hwang shuttered Tiger Asia Management and Tiger Asia Partners after settling an SEC civil lawsuit in 2012 accusing them of insider trading and manipulating Chinese banks stocks. Hwang and the firms paid $44 million, and he agreed to be barred from the investment advisory industry.

He soon opened Archegos -- Greek for “one who leads the way” -- and structured it as a family office.

Family offices that exclusively manage one fortune are generally exempt from registering as investment advisers with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. So they don’t have to disclose their owners, executives or how much they manage -- rules designed to protect outsiders who invest in a fund. That approach makes sense for small family offices, but if they swell to the size of a hedge fund whale they can still pose risks, this time to outsiders in the broader market.

“This does raise questions about the regulation of family offices once again,” said Tyler Gellasch, a former SEC aide who now runs the Healthy Markets trade group. “The question is if it’s just friends and family why do we care? The answer is that they can have significant market impacts, and the SEC’s regulatory regime even after Dodd-Frank doesn’t clearly reflect that.”

Valuable Customer

Archegos established trading partnerships with firms including Nomura Holdings Inc., Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank AG and Credit Suisse Group AG. For a time after the SEC case, Goldman refused to do business with him on compliance grounds, but relented as rivals profited by meeting his needs.

The full picture of his holdings is still emerging, and it’s not clear what positions derailed, or what hedges he had set up.

One reason is that Hwang never filed a 13F report of his holdings, which every investment manager holding more than $100 million in U.S. equities must fill out at the end of each quarter. That’s because he appears to have structured his trades using total return swaps, essentially putting the positions on the banks’ balance sheets. Swaps also enable investors to add a lot of leverage to a portfolio.

Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, for instance, are listed as the largest holders of GSX Techedu, a Chinese online tutoring company that’s been repeatedly targeted by short sellers. Banks may own shares for a variety of reasons that include hedging swap exposures from trades with their customers.

‘Unhappy Investors’

Goldman increased its position 54% in January, according to regulatory filings. Overall, banks reported holding at least 68% of GSX’s outstanding shares, according to a Bloomberg analysis of filings. Banks held at least 40% of IQIYI Inc, a Chinese video entertainment company, and 29% of ViacomCBS -- all of which Archegos had bet on big.

“I’m sure there are a number of really unhappy investors who have bought those names over the last couple of weeks,” and now regret it, Doug Cifu, chief executive officer of electronic-trading firm Virtu Financial Inc., said Monday in an interview on Bloomberg TV. He predicted regulators will examine whether “there should be more transparency and disclosure by a family office.”

Without the need to market his fund to external investors, Hwang’s strategies and performance remained secret from the outside world. Even as his fortune swelled, the 50-something kept a low profile. Despite once working for Robertson’s Tiger Management, he wasn’t well-known on Wall Street or in New York social circles.

Hwang is a trustee of the Fuller Theology Seminary, and co-founder of the Grace and Mercy Foundation, whose mission is to serve the poor and oppressed. The foundation had assets approaching $500 million at the end of 2018, according to its latest filing.

“It’s not all about the money, you know,” he said in a rare interview with a Fuller Institute executive in 2018, in which he spoke about his calling as an investor and his Christian faith. “It’s about the long term, and God certainly has a long-term view.”

His extraordinary run of fortune turned early last week as ViacomCBS Inc. announced a secondary offering of its shares. Its stock price plunged 9% the next day.

The value of other securities believed to be in Archegos’ portfolio based on the positions that were block traded followed.

By Thursday’s close, the value of the portfolio fell 27% -- more than enough to wipe out the equity of an investor who market participants estimate was six to eight times levered.

“You have to wonder who else is out there with one of these invisible fortunes,” said Novogratz. “The psychology of all that leverage with no risk management, it’s almost nihilism.”
","source":"yahoofinance","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; GSX Techedu Inc., Baidu Inc. -- all of which had soared this year, sometimes confounding traders who couldn’t fathom why.One part of Hwang’s portfolio, which has been traded in blocks since Friday by Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo & Co., was worth almost $40 billion last week. Bankers reckon that Archegos’s net capital -- essentially Hwang’s wealth -- had reached north of $10 billion. And as disposals keep emerging, estimates of his firm’s total positions keep climbing: tens of billions, $50 billion, even more than $100 billion. It evaporated in mere days.“I’ve never seen anything like this -- how quiet it was, how concentrated, and how fast it disappeared,” said Mike Novogratz, a career macro investor and former partner at Goldman Sachs who’s been trading since 1994. “This has to be one of the single greatest losses of personal wealth in history.”Late Monday in New York, Archegos broke days of silence on the episode.“This is a challenging time for the family office of Archegos Capital Management, our partners and employees,” Karen Kessler, a spokesperson for the firm, said in an emailed statement. “All plans are being discussed as Mr. Hwang and the team determine the best path forward.”The cascade of trading losses has reverberated from New York to Zurich to Tokyo and beyond, and leaves myriad unanswered questions, including the big one: How could someone take such big risks, facilitated by so many banks, under the noses of regulators the world over? One part of the answer is that Hwang set up as a family office with limited oversight and then employed financial derivatives to amass big stakes in companies without ever having to disclose them. Another part is that global banks embraced him as a lucrative customer, despite a record of insider trading and attempted market manipulation that drove him out of the hedge fund business a decade ago.A disciple of hedge-fund legend Julian Robertson, Sung Kook “Bill” Hwang shuttered Tiger Asia Management and Tiger Asia Partners after settling an SEC civil lawsuit in 2012 accusing them of insider trading and manipulating Chinese banks stocks. Hwang and the firms paid $44 million, and he agreed to be barred from the investment advisory industry. He soon opened Archegos -- Greek for “one who leads the way” -- and structured it as a family office.Family offices that exclusively manage one fortune are generally exempt from registering as investment advisers with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. So they don’t have to disclose their owners, executives or how much they manage -- rules designed to protect outsiders who invest in a fund. That approach makes sense for small family offices, but if they swell to the size of a hedge fund whale they can still pose risks, this time to outsiders in the broader market.“This does raise questions about the regulation of family offices once again,” said Tyler Gellasch, a former SEC aide who now runs the Healthy Markets trade group. “The question is if it’s just friends and family why do we care? The answer is that they can have significant market impacts, and the SEC’s regulatory regime even after Dodd-Frank doesn’t clearly reflect that.”Valuable CustomerArchegos established trading partnerships with firms including Nomura Holdings Inc., Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank AG and Credit Suisse Group AG. For a time after the SEC case, Goldman refused to do business with him on compliance grounds, but relented as rivals profited by meeting his needs. The full picture of his holdings is still emerging, and it’s not clear what positions derailed, or what hedges he had set up.One reason is that Hwang never filed a 13F report of his holdings, which every investment manager holding more than $100 million in U.S. equities must fill out at the end of each quarter. That’s because he appears to have structured his trades using total return swaps, essentially putting the positions on the banks’ balance sheets. Swaps also enable investors to add a lot of leverage to a portfolio.Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, for instance, are listed as the largest holders of GSX Techedu, a Chinese online tutoring company that’s been repeatedly targeted by short sellers. Banks may own shares for a variety of reasons that include hedging swap exposures from trades with their customers.‘Unhappy Investors’Goldman increased its position 54% in January, according to regulatory filings. Overall, banks reported holding at least 68% of GSX’s outstanding shares, according to a Bloomberg analysis of filings. Banks held at least 40% of IQIYI Inc, a Chinese video entertainment company, and 29% of ViacomCBS -- all of which Archegos had bet on big.“I’m sure there are a number of really unhappy investors who have bought those names over the last couple of weeks,” and now regret it, Doug Cifu, chief executive officer of electronic-trading firm Virtu Financial Inc., said Monday in an interview on Bloomberg TV. He predicted regulators will examine whether “there should be more transparency and disclosure by a family office.”Without the need to market his fund to external investors, Hwang’s strategies and performance remained secret from the outside world. Even as his fortune swelled, the 50-something kept a low profile. Despite once working for Robertson’s Tiger Management, he wasn’t well-known on Wall Street or in New York social circles.Hwang is a trustee of the Fuller Theology Seminary, and co-founder of the Grace and Mercy Foundation, whose mission is to serve the poor and oppressed. The foundation had assets approaching $500 million at the end of 2018, according to its latest filing.“It’s not all about the money, you know,” he said in a rare interview with a Fuller Institute executive in 2018, in which he spoke about his calling as an investor and his Christian faith. “It’s about the long term, and God certainly has a long-term view.”His extraordinary run of fortune turned early last week as ViacomCBS Inc. announced a secondary offering of its shares. Its stock price plunged 9% the next day.The value of other securities believed to be in Archegos’ portfolio based on the positions that were block traded followed.By Thursday’s close, the value of the portfolio fell 27% -- more than enough to wipe out the equity of an investor who market participants estimate was six to eight times levered.“You have to wonder who else is out there with one of these invisible fortunes,” said Novogratz. “The psychology of all that leverage with no risk management, it’s almost nihilism.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":191,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":365267769,"gmtCreate":1614748019051,"gmtModify":1704774736985,"author":{"id":"3574483362627447","authorId":"3574483362627447","name":"Junski","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574483362627447","authorIdStr":"3574483362627447"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Go SQ","listText":"Go SQ","text":"Go SQ","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/365267769","repostId":"1126522011","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":269,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":348064834,"gmtCreate":1617870296928,"gmtModify":1704704158802,"author":{"id":"3574483362627447","authorId":"3574483362627447","name":"Junski","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574483362627447","authorIdStr":"3574483362627447"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Pls like & comment, thanks","listText":"Pls like & comment, thanks","text":"Pls like & comment, thanks","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/348064834","repostId":"1112389819","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":241,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":374399887,"gmtCreate":1619415676949,"gmtModify":1704723498681,"author":{"id":"3574483362627447","authorId":"3574483362627447","name":"Junski","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574483362627447","authorIdStr":"3574483362627447"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Grab is becoming ubiquitous in asia.","listText":"Grab is becoming ubiquitous in asia.","text":"Grab is becoming ubiquitous in asia.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/374399887","repostId":"1154900296","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":485,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":229550403780808,"gmtCreate":1697084368466,"gmtModify":1697084368928,"author":{"id":"3574483362627447","authorId":"3574483362627447","name":"Junski","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574483362627447","authorIdStr":"3574483362627447"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"","listText":"","text":"","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/229550403780808","repostId":"2374610535","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":360,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":198869354,"gmtCreate":1620951354478,"gmtModify":1704350933453,"author":{"id":"3574483362627447","authorId":"3574483362627447","name":"Junski","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574483362627447","authorIdStr":"3574483362627447"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"So the analysts’ guesstimate was wrong. Square also has a track record of building fast-growing products internally. Cash App, which started as a smaller internal project, now makes up roughly half of Square’s gross profit.Square’s move paved the way for other fintechs that may want to cut out the middleman in banking. As our cars get smarter, they require more advanced computer chips to power the important sensors and digital features. Decades after burnishing his reputation as a wealthy daredevil mogul in a series ","content":"
July 9 (Reuters) - Decades after burnishing his reputation as a wealthy daredevil mogul in a series of boating and hot-air balloon expeditions, Richard Branson is poised to promote his burgeoning astro-tourism venture by launching himself to the final frontier.
\n
Branson's Virgin Galactic Holding Inc is due on Sunday to send the company's passenger rocket plane, the VSS Unity, on its first fully crewed test flight to the edge of space, with the British billionaire founder among the six individuals strapping in for the ride.
\n
The gleaming white spaceplane will be borne by a twin-fuselage carrier jet dubbed VMS Eve (named for Branson's mother) to an altitude of 50,000 feet, where Unity will be released and soar by rocket power in an almost vertical climb through the outer fringe of Earth's atmosphere.
\n
At the apex of its flight some 55 miles (89 km) above the New Mexico desert, the crew will experience a few minutes of weightlessness before making a gliding descent back to Earth.
\n
If all goes according to plan, the flight will last about 90 minutes and end where it began - on a runway at Spaceport America near the aptly named town of Truth or Consequences.
\n
Virgin's Unity 22 mission marks the 22nd test flight of the spacecraft, and the company's fourth crewed mission beyond Earth's atmosphere.
\n
But it will be the first to carry a full complement of space travelers – two pilots and four \"mission specialists,\" Branson among them.
\n
MILESTONE AND PUBLICITY
\n
Although the mission is seen as a potential milestone in helping transform citizen rocket travel into a mainstream commercial venture, spaceflight remains an inherently hazardous endeavor.
\n
An earlier prototype of the Virgin Galactic rocket plane crashed during a test flight over California's Mojave Desert in 2014, killing one pilot and seriously injuring another.
\n
If successful, Sunday's flight will also give Branson bragging rights to besting rival Jeff Bezos and his space company, Blue Origin, in what has been popularized as a \"billionaire space race.\" Bezos, founder of online retail giant Amazon.com, is slated to fly aboard Blue Origin's suborbital rocketship, the New Shepard, later this month.
\n
Branson's official job on his flight is to \"evaluate the private astronaut experience,\" and his observations will be used to \"enhance the journey for all future astronaut customers,\" according to Virgin's press materials.
\n
But Marco Caceres, a senior space analyst for the Virginia-based consulting firm Teal Group, said the Branson and Bezos ride-alongs were each \"a bit of a publicity stunt.\"
\n
\"If they succeed, their ventures will be taken more seriously,\" Caceres said. \"There's plenty of multimillionaires in the world that would like to go up on an adventure, so long as they see it as relatively safe.\"
\n
Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin, along with fellow billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk's SpaceX, are competing head-to-head in the emerging business of space tourism, though Musk has a big head start.
\n
SpaceX, which plans to send its first all-civilian crew (without Musk) into orbit in September, has already launched numerous cargo payloads and astronauts to the International Space Station.
\n
Branson, 70, insists there is plenty of demand from wealthy would-be citizen astronauts to go around, and that he had no intention of trying to upstage Bezos.
\n
'NOT A RACE'
\n
\"It's honestly not a race,\" Branson told Reuters in an interview earlier this week. \"If it's a race, it's a race to produce wonderful spaceships that can make many more people be able to access space. And I think that's both of our aims.\"
\n
The spaceplane's two pilots, Dave Mackay and Michael Masucci, will control the ignition and shutoff of the ship's rocket engine, and activate the vehicle's \"feathered\" tail maneuver for re-entry.
\n
The three other mission specialists are Beth Moses, the company's chief astronaut instructor; Virgin Galactic's lead operations engineer Colin Bennett; and Sirisha Bandla, a research operations and government affairs vice president.
\n
The Virgin brand, including Branson's airline and former record label, has long been associated with exploits of derring-do by its flamboyant founder. Branson set a new record for the fastest boat crossing of the Atlantic in 1986, a year after his initial attempt ended with a Royal Air Force helicopter rescue when his vessel capsized.
\n
In 1987 he made a record-breaking Atlantic crossing by hot-air balloon, though again he had to be rescued from the sea. He went on to break at least two other air-balloon speed records but failed to complete any of three bids to circumnavigate the globe by balloon.
\n
As for Sunday's flight, Branson said this week that he is excited, \"and I really don't think there’s anything there to be scared about.\"
\n
Assuming the mission goes well, Virgin has said it plans two further test flights of the spaceplane before beginning commercial service next year.
\n
The company has said it has received more than 600 flight reservations, priced at around $250,000 per ticket, but hopes eventually to slash the cost of each seat to $40,000.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The plans would be paid for with a slew of new tax hikes on wealthy Americans and corporations.\nBut Biden, meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., on Wednesday, maintained that he would be able to \"reach a compromise.\"\n\"I ran, I said I wasn't going to be a Democratic president. I'm going to be a president for all Americans,\" Biden said. \"And what the bottom line here is, we're going to see whether we can reach some consensus on a compromise on moving forward.\"\nA reporter asked the president how he planned to reach a compromise.\n\"Easy, just snap my fingers,\" Biden joked. \"It'll happen.\"\nDespite Biden's confidence in reaching a compromise,McConnell said earlier this month that he did not expect any Republican senator to support the president's push for $4 trillion in spending on infrastructure and other projects.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":162,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":198888710,"gmtCreate":1620951019030,"gmtModify":1704350924878,"author":{"id":"3574483362627447","authorId":"3574483362627447","name":"Junski","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574483362627447","authorIdStr":"3574483362627447"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Almost time to travel again. one night,Netflixhas nearly doubled its number of Oscar wins.\nHeading into Sunday's 93rd annual Academy Awards ceremony, the streaming service had 36 Oscar nominations across 17 films —the most of any distributor in this year's slate.\nBy the end of the night,it garnered seven trophies. The second-highest tally went toDisney, which took home five awards.\nSince 2013, when Netflix earned its first nomination for best documentary feature for \"The Square,\" the platform has taken home eight Academy Awards. Now, its collection is 15 strong.\nHere are the awards Netflix won Sunday night:\n\nBest hairstyling and makeup for \"Ma Rainey's Black Bottom\"\nBest costume design for \"Ma Rainey's Black Bottom\"\nBest documentary feature for \"My Octopus Teacher\"\nBest live-action short for \"Two Distant Strangers\"\nBest animated short for \"If Anything Happens I Love You\"\nBest production design for \"Mank\"\nBest cinematography for \"Mank\"\n\n\"Ma Rainey's Black Bottom\" earned Netflix two wins: best hairstyling and makeup as well as best costume design.\nMia Neal and Jamika Wilson, two-thirds of the hairstyling and makeup team who worked on the film, made history on Sunday. The pair are the first Black women to receive a nomination for best makeup and hairstyling and, now, the first to win. Makeup artist Sergio Lopez-Rivera is also part of the Oscar-winning team.\nNetflix was expected to also take home the win for best actor, as the late Chadwick Boseman had posthumously received the best acting awards at the Critics Choice, Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild awards this year for his performance in \"Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.\" However, the award went to Anthony Hopkins for his heartbreaking performance in \"The Father.\"\nOscars 2021 coverage from CNBC\nRead more about this year's Academy Awards:\n\nOscars 2021: Live Updates and Winners from the 93rd Academy Awards\n'Nomadland' leads the pack for best picture, but best actress award is wide open\nAs women directors enter the Oscar spotlight, here are 13 filmmakers to watch\nNetflix earns most Academy Award nominations in a year where diversity shines\n10 snubs and surprises from this year's Academy Award nominations\n\nThe streaming service's film \"Mank,\" which centers around \"Citizen Kane\" co-writer Herman Mankiewicz, led the pack with 10 nominations. It secured two wins. One for best production design and one for best cinematography.\nNetflix was also awarded best live-action short, best animated short and best documentary feature.\nThe tech company has steadily increased its nominations at Hollywood's top awards show over the last eight years, proving that it has made quality decisions about the product it has acquired or produced in-house.\nNetflix is known for packing its platform with content in order to keep subscribers coming month after month, but it's also drawing top talent. This Oscar class alone included names like Aaron Sorkin, Viola Davis, Chadwick Boseman, David Fincher, Sacha Baron Cohen, as well as Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.\nNominations alone are enough to bring prestige to the streaming service, but wins can be even more enticing to filmmakers looking for more creative freedom in the industry.\nThe trophies also could coax new subscribers to join the service if they haven't seen the winning films. That would be a welcome development given the disappointing subscriber growth Netflix posted in the first quarter. The company attributed the slowdown to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which has delayed some of its high-profile shows and films.\nNetflix shares are down more than 6% since the start of the year, bringing its market value to $224 billion.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":393,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":372684307,"gmtCreate":1619202174809,"gmtModify":1704721240304,"author":{"id":"3574483362627447","authorId":"3574483362627447","name":"Junski","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574483362627447","authorIdStr":"3574483362627447"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"See you in Mars","listText":"See you in Mars","text":"See you in Mars","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/372684307","repostId":"1149578575","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":262,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
