Tesla's deliveries increased by 40% in 2022, and the company is on track to increase deliveries by another 37% this year. Moreover, Tesla has incredible, new, market-leading products coming online soon, including the long-awaited Cybertruck and the Tesla Semi. Also, Tesla's energy generation and storage ("EG&S") business is taking off, and sales should continue soaring as its EG&S segment continues expanding.

Additionally, Tesla is pioneering the artificial intelligence ("AI") space, incorporating AI with its electric vehicles ("EVs"), increasing its lead over the competition, and cementing its place as the preeminent leader in the auto industry. Despite Tesla's valuation, its stock should continue garnering robust demand as Tesla's growth should continue eclipsing other automakers. Moreover, Tesla's profitability should continue improving and could increase considerably as the economy exits the transitory slowdown phase, moving into the new AI-propelled era. Tesla's stock should go much higher in the coming years, and it is the only "auto stock" I need in my portfolio.

Why Tesla Is The Only "Auto Stock" That I Need

There are many car stocks out there. We have traditional automakers like General Motors (GM), Ford (F), Toyota (TM), and many others. Also, we have the new age EV makers like Lucid (LCID), Rivian (RIVN), NIO (NIO), and more. Nonetheless, there is only one Tesla, and it is head and shoulders are above the rest.

The problem with traditional/legacy automakers is that their main products are internal combustion engine ("ICE") cars. ICE is a dying technology, as many countries plan to phase out ICE vehicles in the coming decades. Norway is leading this trend and only allows zero-emissions vehicles to be sold from 2025. Britain, Israel, and Singapore plan to ban new ICE vehicle sales in 2030. China, the most significant car market globally, plans for 20% plus EV/non-ICE car sales by 2025 and the majority by 2035. Even the gas-guzzling U.S. says half of all cars sold in 2030 should be zero-emission vehicles. The EU plans to ban the sale of new fossil fuel vehicles in 2035.

Therefore, when considering Tesla's "high valuation," please consider Tesla's enormous long-term opportunity to dominate the global market with its vehicles.

While legacy automakers have EV programs, they are many miles behind Tesla. Turning a traditional automaker into an efficient EV manufacturer is challenging and expensive. Think of all the multibillion-dollar production facilities geared toward manufacturing ICE engines, transmissions, and other costly auto parts that could soon be obsolete. Companies can't simply push a button to retool their manufacturing facilities and production lines to produce high-quality EVs.

While traditional automakers have EV programs, many are relatively weak and cannot effectively compete with Tesla. For instance, at the end of Q2 2023, GM sold 33,659 EVs compared to Tesla's 935,000 vehicles. Moreover, GM has much work ahead if it is serious about making its EV program profitable. Now, this is not a story unique to GM, as Ford, Toyota, and other mainstream automakers struggle to make EVs competitive on a mass scale, producing EVs primarily as a side project that is not profitable. Thus, while many traditional automakers struggle with their EV programs, Tesla continues innovating, increasing its lead over its competition.

Moving over to Tesla's true EV competitors, Lucid and Rivian have yet to demonstrate the ability to mass produce vehicles effectively, never mind competing with Tesla on a mass scale. NIO, the Chinese premium EV maker closest to a Tesla competitor, burns cash exceptionally quickly, continuously raising capital/diluting its stock, posting a 1% gross margin in its last quarter.

Therefore, startup EV manufacturers are extremely clumsy in their ramp-up process, and it needs to be clarified whether they can produce EVs profitably or may fail due to high capital requirements and a challenging economic environment. Meanwhile, due to its competitive advantages, economies of scale, and high level of profitability, Tesla can temporarily drop prices on its vehicles to capture market share from the struggling EV manufacturers.

I've owned Tesla's stock for ten years, and it's been one of my most successful investments. I continue owning Tesla's stock as the company remains dominant and market-leading and should continue expanding its share in the years ahead.

Tesla Delivers Another Excellent Quarter

Tesla recently announced its Q3 production and deliveries. It produced 430,488 vehicles in the quarter, delivering 435,059 in this time. While this illustrates a minor decline from last quarter's deliveries of 466,140 vehicles, Tesla reiterated its target of delivering approximately 1.8 million cars for the full year. The sequential decrease in production and deliveries was due to planned downtime in Tesla factories. Tesla has delivered more than 1.37 million in the first three quarters of 2023 and should eclipse the 1.8 million delivery mark as it will likely deliver more than 430,000 vehicles in Q4 to end the year. The increase to 1.8 million deliveries in 2023 will be about a 37% increase over last year's delivery numbers.

In Dollar Terms

Tesla delivered 15,985 Model S/X vehicles and 419,074 Model Y/3s. If we subtract the 8% for leasing vehicles in the Model S/X segment, we have about 14,706 Model S/Xs sold. Also, if we remove the 4% for lease accounting in the Model Y/3 segment, we have around 402,311 Model 3/Ys sold in Q3. Applying an ASP of about $44,000 in the Model 3/Y segment and around $110,000 in the Model S/X space provides a vehicle sales estimate of $1.62 billion (Model S/X space) and $17.7 billion (Model 3/Y segment). Combined automotive sales could be around $19.3 billion in Q3.

Tesla - Q3 Sales Estimates

Automotive sales: $19.3 billion

Regulatory credit revenue: $500 million

Automotive leasing: $600 million

EG&S: $1.8 billion

Services and other: $2.2 billion

Total revenues: $24.4 billion

While my revenue estimate is around the consensus sales figure, profitability may be better than anticipated in Q3. Tesla has approximately 3.171 billion outstanding shares. Consensus estimates suggest an EPS of around 76 cents in the third quarter. This dynamic implies a net income of about $2.41 billion or a net income margin of approximately 9.9%.

Last quarter, Tesla delivered 91 cents per share, beating the consensus estimate by 10 cents, approximately a 12.35% beat rate. Also, last quarter's net income margin was about 10.8%. If Tesla achieves a 10.8% income margin in the third quarter, its net income will be about $2.64 billion, amounting to about 83 cents per share, a beat rate of about 9%. Therefore, Tesla could surpass the beaten-down consensus estimate EPS figures, a positive dynamic for its stock.

Significant Longer-Term Profitability Potential

In 2022, Tesla reported an EPS of $4.07. However, this year's consensus estimates are for $3.40, a 17% YoY decline. The lower EPS is due to transitory factors like a slow macroeconomic environment, higher costs due to inflation, price cuts, and other temporary phenomena. Therefore, Tesla's profitability should improve as the economy exits the downturn and economic conditions improve.

Consensus EPS Estimates

EPS estimates (SeekingAlpha.com)

Next year's consensus EPS estimate is $4.75, but Tesla can achieve EPS much higher than this. Tesla's profitability is significantly better in "good times." For instance, Tesla reported a net income margin of about 15.5% in H1 2022. Due to price cuts and other transitory factors, Tesla's net income margin declined to 10.8% in H1 2023. Suppose Tesla returns to a similar level of profitability next year (as in H1 2022). In that case, its net income on an estimated $130 billion in revenues should be about $20.15 billion, translating to an EPS of about $6.35, substantially higher than the suggested $4.75 figure.

Also, I must point out that the higher-end EPS estimates go up to $7.50-8. Thus, my estimate of $6.35 is realistic and modest compared to more aggressive figures. Furthermore, examining the consensus $4.75 figure implies a net income of about $15 billion. This figure suggests a net income margin of approximately 11.5%, implying very little profitability from the lows we see this year. Tesla's profitability should rebound more than the implied 11.5%. Thus, its EPS could be substantially higher than the proposed consensus estimated figure.

Why Revenues Could Increase More Than Expected

- Don't Doubt the Cybertruck Potential

We've waited a long time for the Cybertruck, and it should be available for customers in early 2024. The Cybertruck could account for approximately $8 billion in annual revenues (lower-end estimate). Thus, we could see 2024/2025 revenues increase more than the consensus estimates suggest.

- The Tesla Semi Should Provide Excellent Results

The Tesla Semi is in production, and deliveries are on their way. However, mass production revenues should filter down to the bottom line in 2024 and further years. The Tesla Semi offers remarkable performance and could contribute around $12.5 billion in annual revenues in the next few years.

- Tesla's Energy Business - Taking Off

Have you looked at Tesla's EG&S business lately? Last quarter. EG&S contributed$1.51 billion in revenues, approximately an 83% YoY revenue surge. EG&S 2023 H1 revenues surged by 105% over H1 2022. Tesla's Megapack massive energy storage is in high demand, and sales should continue to increase.

- Tesla's Leading AI Solutions

I don't know any other car companies leading the global AI revolution, but Tesla is. Tesla has been perfecting its AI program for years. Tesla is developing robotics, full self-driving ("FSD") chips, Dojo chips, neural networks, and more. Moreover, Tesla should benefit immensely from the future robotaxi concept. This segment is expected to grow from essentially nothing to a $45 billion industry in several years. Tesla is pioneering the AI revolution and should benefit immensely in the coming years.

Where Tesla's Stock Could Be in Future Years

The Year

2024

2025

2026

2027

2028

2029

2030

Revenue Bs

$140

$186

$242

$310

$387

$472

$566

Revenue growth

40%

33%

30%

28%

25%

22%

20%

EPS

$6.35

$9.80

$13.33

$17.73

$23

$29

$36

EPS growth

70%

54%

36%

33%

30%

28%

25%

Forward P/E

35

34

33

32

31

30

28

Stock price

$343

$453

$585

$736

$899

$1080

$1200

Source: The Financial Prophet.

Risks to Tesla

Despite my bullish outlook and optimistic projections, risks exist. Tesla faces increased competition from traditional and new-age automakers determined to take market share. Additionally, Tesla's profitability may recover slower than anticipated and not reach a similar level as in prior high profitability times. Further, Tesla's revenue and earnings growth may be slower than expected, leading to multiple contraction and a lower stock price. The challenging macroeconomic environment could continue weighing on Tesla's business, negatively affecting its stock price. Also, Tesla's future projects may not achieve similar success as its wildly popular Model 3 and Y vehicles. Investors should examine these and other risks before committing to a Tesla investment.

","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; (NASDAQ:TSLA) remains the most promising company in the auto industry. Tesla's deliveries increased by 40% in 2022, and the company is on track to increase deliveries by another 37% this year. Moreover, Tesla has incredible, new, market-leading products coming online soon, including the long-awaited Cybertruck and the Tesla Semi. Also, Tesla's energy generation and storage (\"EG&S\") business is taking off, and sales should continue soaring as its EG&S segment continues expanding.Additionally, Tesla is pioneering the artificial intelligence (\"AI\") space, incorporating AI with its electric vehicles (\"EVs\"), increasing its lead over the competition, and cementing its place as the preeminent leader in the auto industry. Tesla's stock should go much higher in the coming years, and it is the only \"auto stock\" I need in my portfolio. Why Tesla Is The Only \"Auto Stock\" That I NeedThere are many car stocks out there. The problem with traditional/legacy automakers is that their main products are internal combustion engine (\"ICE\") cars. The EU plans to ban the sale of new fossil fuel vehicles in 2035.Therefore, when considering Tesla's \"high valuation,\" please consider Tesla's enormous long-term opportunity to dominate the global market with its vehicles. Companies can't simply push a button to retool their manufacturing facilities and production lines to produce high-quality EVs.While traditional automakers have EV programs, many are relatively weak and cannot effectively compete with Tesla. Thus, while many traditional automakers struggle with their EV programs, Tesla continues innovating, increasing its lead over its competition.Moving over to Tesla's true EV competitors, Lucid and Rivian have yet to demonstrate the ability to mass produce vehicles effectively, never mind competing with Tesla on a mass scale. Meanwhile, due to its competitive advantages, economies of scale, and high level of profitability, Tesla can temporarily drop prices on its vehicles to capture market share from the struggling EV manufacturers.I've owned Tesla's stock for ten years, and it's been one of my most successful investments. I continue owning Tesla's stock as the company remains dominant and market-leading and should continue expanding its share in the years ahead.Tesla Delivers Another Excellent QuarterTesla recently announced its Q3 production and deliveries. In Dollar TermsTesla delivered 15,985 Model S/X vehicles and 419,074 Model Y/3s. Combined automotive sales could be around $19.3 billion in Q3.Tesla - Q3 Sales EstimatesAutomotive sales: $19.3 billionRegulatory credit revenue: $500 millionAutomotive leasing: $600 millionEG&S: $1.8 billionServices and other: $2.2 billionTotal revenues: $24.4 billionWhile my revenue estimate is around the consensus sales figure, profitability may be better than anticipated in Q3. Tesla has approximately 3.171 billion outstanding shares. Consensus estimates suggest an EPS of around 76 cents in the third quarter. This dynamic implies a net income of about $2.41 billion or a net income margin of approximately 9.9%.Last quarter, Tesla delivered 91 cents per share, beating the consensus estimate by 10 cents, approximately a 12.35% beat rate. Also, last quarter's net income margin was about 10.8%. If Tesla achieves a 10.8% income margin in the third quarter, its net income will be about $2.64 billion, amounting to about 83 cents per share, a beat rate of about 9%. Therefore, Tesla could surpass the beaten-down consensus estimate EPS figures, a positive dynamic for its stock.Significant Longer-Term Profitability PotentialIn 2022, Tesla reported an EPS of $4.07. However, this year's consensus estimates are for $3.40, a 17% YoY decline. The lower EPS is due to transitory factors like a slow macroeconomic environment, higher costs due to inflation, price cuts, and other temporary phenomena. Therefore, Tesla's profitability should improve as the economy exits the downturn and economic conditions improve.Consensus EPS EstimatesEPS estimates (SeekingAlpha.com)Next year's consensus EPS estimate is $4.75, but Tesla can achieve EPS much higher than this. Tesla's profitability is significantly better in \"good times.\" For instance, Tesla reported a net income margin of about 15.5% in H1 2022. Why Revenues Could Increase More Than Expected- Don't Doubt the Cybertruck PotentialWe've waited a long time for the Cybertruck, and it should be available for customers in early 2024. The Cybertruck could account for approximately $8 billion in annual revenues (lower-end estimate). Thus, we could see 2024/2025 revenues increase more than the consensus estimates suggest.- The Tesla Semi Should Provide Excellent ResultsThe Tesla Semi is in production, and deliveries are on their way. However, mass production revenues should filter down to the bottom line in 2024 and further years. The Tesla Semi offers remarkable performance and could contribute around $12.5 billion in annual revenues in the next few years.- Tesla's Energy Business - Taking OffHave you looked at Tesla's EG&S business lately? Last quarter. EG&S contributed$1.51 billion in revenues, approximately an 83% YoY revenue surge. EG&S 2023 H1 revenues surged by 105% over H1 2022. Tesla's Megapack massive energy storage is in high demand, and sales should continue to increase.- Tesla's Leading AI SolutionsI don't know any other car companies leading the global AI revolution, but Tesla is. Tesla has been perfecting its AI program for years. Tesla is developing robotics, full self-driving (\"FSD\") chips, Dojo chips, neural networks, and more. Moreover, Tesla should benefit immensely from the future robotaxi concept. This segment is expected to grow from essentially nothing to a $45 billion industry in several years. Tesla is pioneering the AI revolution and should benefit immensely in the coming years.Where Tesla's Stock Could Be in Future YearsThe Year2024202520262027202820292030Revenue Bs$140$186$242$310$387$472$566Revenue growth40%33%30%28%25%22%20%EPS$6.35$9.80$13.33$17.73$23$29$36EPS growth70%54%36%33%30%28%25%Forward P/E35343332313028Stock price$343$453$585$736$899$1080$1200Source: The Financial Prophet.Risks to TeslaDespite my bullish outlook and optimistic projections, risks exist. Investors should examine these and other risks before committing to a Tesla investment.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":555,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":220079294242848,"gmtCreate":1694760493522,"gmtModify":1694760496008,"author":{"id":"3574512499374642","authorId":"3574512499374642","name":"Yangkaijie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/88223c0365b28ffdec725ce2f2e3fd98","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574512499374642","authorIdStr":"3574512499374642"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ <v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>","listText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ <v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>","text":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/220079294242848","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":409,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9957937703,"gmtCreate":1676880386403,"gmtModify":1676880390847,"author":{"id":"3574512499374642","authorId":"3574512499374642","name":"Yangkaijie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/88223c0365b28ffdec725ce2f2e3fd98","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574512499374642","authorIdStr":"3574512499374642"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Just buy and hold it ","listText":"Just buy and hold it ","text":"Just buy and hold it","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9957937703","repostId":"1162074737","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1162074737","pubTimestamp":1676877017,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1162074737?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-02-20 15:10","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla: Possible Margin Compression Ahead","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1162074737","media":"Seeking Alpha","summary":"SummaryWhile TSLA chose to aggressively cut its prices to chase market share, FQ1'23 might bring uns","content":"

Summary

While TSLA chose to aggressively cut its prices to chase market share, FQ1'23 might bring unsatisfactory top and bottom line results in our view.

Based on our estimates, the company could deliver FQ1'23 revenues of $23.9B (-1.6% QoQ & +27.4% YoY) and EPS of $0.90 (-24.3% QoQ & -15.8% YoY).

Naturally, it is entirely possible that TSLA may push out just enough volume to counter the notable gap in margins, due to Shanghai's projected weekly output of 20K vehicles.

However, with the stock already recording a tremendous recovery thus far, we reckon that it may be more prudent to exercise some caution here.

TSLA's Potential Margin Compression In FQ1'23 Is A Real Concern

Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) has reigned king in the global EV market, particularly attributed to the tremendous volume growth and stellar margins thus far.

In FY2022, the company delivered an impressive 1.31M (+40% YoY) vehicles, while producing 1.37M (+47% YoY). At that time, it had reported excellent automotive revenues of $77.55B(+51.9% YoY), automotive gross margins of 26.5% (inline YoY), total operating margins of 16.8% (+4.7 points YoY), and EPS of $4.07 (+80% YoY).

While BYD Company Limited (OTCPK: BYDDF) (OTCPK: BYDDY) might had reported better EV equivalent deliveries of 1.86M (209% YoY)in 2022, its margins were not comparable to TSLA indeed. The Chinese automaker recorded gross margins of 16.1% (+3.1 points YoY), adj. operating margins of 5.2% (+3.1 points YoY), and adj. EPS of $0.83 (+434.7% YoY) in FY2022.

For now, we think investors looking at TSLA's and BYD's January 2023 deliveries in China shouldn't be alarmed, since the lower numbers were likely attributed to the Chinese New Year festivities.

However, with the uncertain macroeconomic outlook potentially impacting demand, it seems TSLA has decided to engage in an all-out price war in the US and China alike. Its decision to cut prices in the US stemmed from the Inflation Reduction Act, requiring sedans to be priced below $55K and SUVs below $80K to qualify for the $7.5K tax credit. Its flagship Model Y and Model 3 now cost $57.99K and $42.99K, respectively, suggesting a decrease of -$8K and -$4K from 2022 prices.

In China, the EV subsidies also ended by 2022, leaving consumers with a minimal 10% purchase tax exemption through 2023. Therefore, it made sense that TSLA had slashed prices to match the expired EV subsidies (originally worth 12.6K Yuan) while similarly enticing buyers at a time of uncertain reopening cadence. Its Model 3 and Model Y now retail at 229.9K Yuan and 259.9K Yuan, lower by 36K Yuan and 29K Yuan from 2022 prices, respectively.

This strategy has worked in our view and contributed to the surge of demand in the US, with the wait times for Model Y growing to 17 weeks by February 2023, compared to one week in November 2022. A similar trend was observed in China, with retail demand growing by 36% YoY to 25.68K vehicles in January 2023.

Therefore, it was unsurprising that TSLA's Shanghai Gigafactory had targeted an ambitious production output of 20K vehicles weekly in February and March 2023, compared to December 2022's compressed levels of 13.94K.

While this piece of news may point to a surge in production and delivery volume in FQ1'23, we remain concerned about its margins in the short term. With the Model 3 and Y comprising 94.6% of the company's deliveries in 2022 at 1.24M vehicles, the impact may be tremendous indeed.

The US accounted for the majority of TSLA's revenues at $40.55B or 49.7% in 2022, with market analysts estimating a252K of the Model Y deliveries in the country. Considering this information, the Model Y might have accounted for $16.62B of sales in the US then, with approximately 400K vehicles of Model 3 delivered at the same time. Naturally, this was after discounting part of its revenues for energy generation and storage.

Based on a moderate +10% QoQ growth in production output and delivery for FQ1'23, we may see a potential -$550M top-line impact for Model Y and -$330M for Model 3 in the US, attributed to the price cuts offered thus far.

The company similarly delivered 439.77K vehicles in China for 2022, comprising $18.14B or 22.2% of its revenues. Based on similar assumptions, the deep discounts in China may also trigger a -6.13B Yuan or the equivalent of -$900M top-line headwind in our estimation.

This is the reason why we think we may see TSLA deliver underwhelming FQ1'23 revenues of approximately $23.9B. This suggests an increase of 27.4% YoY instead of the impressive growth recorded in FQ4'22 at 37.2% YoY and FQ3'22 at 55.9% YoY.

Despite the assumption of easing supply chain and improved production scale holding the cost of goods sold [COGS] steady, the company's operating margins may still be impacted, falling to approximately 13.5% by FQ1'23, compared to the FQ4'22 levels of 16% and FQ1'22 levels of 19%.

While our estimated EPS of $0.90 may suggest a somewhat optimistic performance for the next quarter, against the more bearish consensus estimate of $0.85, it also indicates a notable headwind by -24.3% QoQ from $1.19 and -15.8% YoY from $1.07. Therefore, it remains uncertain if TSLA stock will be able to hold on to the recent optimism through April 2023 in our opinion.

So, Is TSLA Stock A Buy, Sell, Or Hold?

TSLA 1Y EV/Revenue and P/E Valuations

S&P Capital IQ

TSLA is currently trading at an EV/NTM Revenue of 6.25x and NTM P/E of 52.20x, higher than its 3Y pre-pandemic mean of 3.16x and 13.54x, respectively. Otherwise, lower than its 1Y mean of 7.81x and 56.25x, respectively.

After accounting for a nominal increase in operating expenses and COGS, we think TSLA may achieve FY2023 EPS of $4.09, if it maintains its current price cuts and sustains a +10% QoQ increase in production output.

Based on this number and the current P/E valuations, we are looking at a moderate price target of $213. While it is somewhat more optimistic than theconsensus price target of $197.50, the fact remains that there is minimal upside potential from current levels.

TSLA 1Y Stock Price

Trading View

This is unsurprising, since the TSLA stock has recorded an impressive 103.6% rally to $207.32 since the January 2023 bottom of $101.81. And it is for this particular reason that we prefer to exercise some caution, since it remains to be seen if the stock may sustain the current optimism and break out from the December 2022 resistance levels.

As discussed above, we may also see some margin compression in its FQ1'23 performance, despite the projected volume growth. (NASDAQ: TSLA) has reigned king in the global EV market, particularly attributed to the tremendous volume growth and stellar margins thus far.In FY2022, the company delivered an impressive 1.31M (+40% YoY) vehicles, while producing 1.37M (+47% YoY). At that time, it had reported excellent automotive revenues of $77.55B(+51.9% YoY), automotive gross margins of 26.5% (inline YoY), total operating margins of 16.8% (+4.7 points YoY), and EPS of $4.07 (+80% YoY).While BYD Company Limited (OTCPK: BYDDF) (OTCPK: BYDDY) might had reported better EV equivalent deliveries of 1.86M (209% YoY)in 2022, its margins were not comparable to TSLA indeed. The Chinese automaker recorded gross margins of 16.1% (+3.1 points YoY), adj. operating margins of 5.2% (+3.1 points YoY), and adj. EPS of $0.83 (+434.7% YoY) in FY2022.For now, we think investors looking at TSLA's and BYD's January 2023 deliveries in China shouldn't be alarmed, since the lower numbers were likely attributed to the Chinese New Year festivities. A similar trend was observed in China, with retail demand growing by 36% YoY to 25.68K vehicles in January 2023.Therefore, it was unsurprising that TSLA's Shanghai Gigafactory had targeted an ambitious production output of 20K vehicles weekly in February and March 2023, compared to December 2022's compressed levels of 13.94K.While this piece of news may point to a surge in production and delivery volume in FQ1'23, we remain concerned about its margins in the short term. Naturally, this was after discounting part of its revenues for energy generation and storage.Based on a moderate +10% QoQ growth in production output and delivery for FQ1'23, we may see a potential -$550M top-line impact for Model Y and -$330M for Model 3 in the US, attributed to the price cuts offered thus far.The company similarly delivered 439.77K vehicles in China for 2022, comprising $18.14B or 22.2% of its revenues. This suggests an increase of 27.4% YoY instead of the impressive growth recorded in FQ4'22 at 37.2% YoY and FQ3'22 at 55.9% YoY.Despite the assumption of easing supply chain and improved production scale holding the cost of goods sold [COGS] steady, the company's operating margins may still be impacted, falling to approximately 13.5% by FQ1'23, compared to the FQ4'22 levels of 16% and FQ1'22 levels of 19%.While our estimated EPS of $0.90 may suggest a somewhat optimistic performance for the next quarter, against the more bearish consensus estimate of $0.85, it also indicates a notable headwind by -24.3% QoQ from $1.19 and -15.8% YoY from $1.07. Therefore, it remains uncertain if TSLA stock will be able to hold on to the recent optimism through April 2023 in our opinion. So, Is TSLA Stock A Buy, Sell, Or Hold?TSLA 1Y EV/Revenue and P/E ValuationsS&P Capital IQTSLA is currently trading at an EV/NTM Revenue of 6.25x and NTM P/E of 52.20x, higher than its 3Y pre-pandemic mean of 3.16x and 13.54x, respectively. Otherwise, lower than its 1Y mean of 7.81x and 56.25x, respectively. After accounting for a nominal increase in operating expenses and COGS, we think TSLA may achieve FY2023 EPS of $4.09, if it maintains its current price cuts and sustains a +10% QoQ increase in production output.Based on this number and the current P/E valuations, we are looking at a moderate price target of $213. While it is somewhat more optimistic than theconsensus price target of $197.50, the fact remains that there is minimal upside potential from current levels.TSLA 1Y Stock PriceTrading ViewThis is unsurprising, since the TSLA stock has recorded an impressive 103.6% rally to $207.32 since the January 2023 bottom of $101.81. And it is for this particular reason that we prefer to exercise some caution, since it remains to be seen if the stock may sustain the current optimism and break out from the December 2022 resistance levels. As discussed above, we may also see some margin compression in its FQ1'23 performance, despite the projected volume growth. As the Fed's pivot is unlikely to occur before 2024, Mr. Market's focus will likely be on the health of the company's financial performance in the short term. Therefore, we reckon that the TSLA stock may moderately retrace over the next few weeks. Traders may consider taking some gains here and getting in again at the next dip. Otherwise, long-term investors should patiently wait for another attractive entry point to nibble, likely in the $170s for an improved margin of safety.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":359,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9952548130,"gmtCreate":1674845779520,"gmtModify":1676538962285,"author":{"id":"3574512499374642","authorId":"3574512499374642","name":"Yangkaijie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/88223c0365b28ffdec725ce2f2e3fd98","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574512499374642","authorIdStr":"3574512499374642"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Lucid Group Inc(LCID)$ <v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>","listText":"$Lucid Group Inc(LCID)$ <v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>","text":"$Lucid Group Inc(LCID)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9952548130","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":334,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9921716349,"gmtCreate":1671125084482,"gmtModify":1676538495457,"author":{"id":"3574512499374642","authorId":"3574512499374642","name":"Yangkaijie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/88223c0365b28ffdec725ce2f2e3fd98","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574512499374642","authorIdStr":"3574512499374642"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9921716349","repostId":"1178294043","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1178294043","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1671114825,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1178294043?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-12-15 22:33","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Chinese ADRs Jumped on Chinese Stock Delisting Threat Eases as US Gets Access to Audit Data","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1178294043","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Chinese ADRs jumped on Chinese stock delisting threat eases as US gets access to audit data.About 20","content":"

Chinese ADRs jumped on Chinese stock delisting threat eases as US gets access to audit data.About 200 companies based in China and Hong Kong are no longer facing an acute threat of being booted off American stock exchanges.

The US Public Company Accounting Oversight Board said its inspectors have been able to sufficiently review audit documents from firms based in the two jurisdictions. Tesla needed shareholders to sign off on issuing the new shares to complete the split. The move wouldn't affect the company's market value, which topped $960 billion as of Thursday. That proposal was among more than a dozen facing investor consideration at Tesla's annual shareholder meeting, held at the company's Austin, Texas-area factory. The gathering followed a recent rally in Tesla's stock price after the company reported second-quarter earnings that were better than expected. Tesla generated $2.3 billion in profit for the period, ahead of Wall Street's expectations but below its record quarterly profit of $3.3 billion in the first three months of the year.An extended shutdown at Tesla's Shanghai assembly plant, paired with global supply-chain disruptions and labor shortages weighed on results.Chief Financial Officer Zach Kirkhorn said on the company's July earnings call that Tesla was still aiming for 50% vehicle-delivery growth this year over 2021, though he acknowledged that reaching that target had become more difficult. The investor gathering spotlighted concerns that some shareholders have expressed about Tesla's corporate governance. Several of the nonbinding proposals dealt with employment issues, from corporate efforts to prevent harassment and discrimination to how mandatory arbitration affects Tesla's employees and workplace culture. A preliminary tally indicated those measures didn't receive the requisite votes. The company is facing scrutiny from state and federal employment authorities over issues including alleged racial discrimination and harassment at its Fremont, Calif., assembly plant. The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing sued Tesla in February, saying that Black workers routinely heard supervisors using racial slurs and were confronted with racist graffiti in the factory. Tesla has alleged misconduct by the California agency and said it is seeking dismissal of the case.In June, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reached conclusions similar to those of the California employment agency, Tesla said in a securities filing, adding that it planned to begin settlement talks with federal officials.Shareholders also backed the proposed re-election of the Tesla directors Ira Ehrenpreis and Kathleen Wilson-Thompson, who have served on the board since 2007 and 2018, respectively. The proxy advisory firm Institutional Shareholder Services had urged investors to vote against their re-election, citing concern about the board's risk oversight and Tesla's response to a measure that shareholders approved last year. That nonbinding proposal called on Tesla to cut board members' terms to one year, from three.Instead, Tesla asked shareholders to reduce directors' terms to two years. Such a proposal failed to gain the requisite votes last year or in 2019 and failed again this year.Oracle Corp. co-founder Larry Ellison, who joined the board in 2018, didn't stand for re-election,
