It didn&#39;t immediately respond to a request for comment.</p><p>Meanwhile, Loop Capital analyst Ananda Baruah thinks Apple could scale back its production plans for iPhones this weekend. In a research note, he said that Wall Street estimates for iPhone sales in the June quarter could be too high by between 4 million and 6 million units and that he thinks estimates of the number sold in the March quarter overshot the real figure by 5 million.</p><p>Apple doesn&#39;t disclose unit sales of iPhones, so there isn&#39;t any way to know the actual number.</p><p>Baruah thinks that iPhone revenue for the June quarter could be at risk, but he also said consensus expectations for the September and December quarters could be too low. That&#39;s a reflection of his view that the Street is underestimating the average selling prices for the iPhone, as consumers opt for higher-end models with more memory capacity over cheaper models.</p><p>For the June quarter, Baruah sees Apple selling 41 million units at an average price of $920. The Wall Street consensus call is for 47 million units at an average price of $834, he wrote.</p><p>For all of calendar 2022, he predicted that Apple will sell 229 million phones for an average price of $927, while his peers, on average, see 242 million units at an average of $852. And right now, there are worries that the combination of Covid-related manufacturing shutdowns in China, component shortages, and signs of softening in the consumer economy are putting current Street expectations for the iPhone at risk.Apple shares have been left out from Wednesday's modest rally in tech shares. On Wednesday, the stock was up 0.11%, to $140.52, while the Nasdaq Composite had risen 1.51%. The stock is off about 21% so far this year.One reason for Wednesday's weak performance is a Nikkei Asia story that says Apple's development schedule for iPhone 14, expected to arrive this fall, has been hampered by lockdowns in Shanghai. In reporting its March quarter results, Apple warned that revenue in the June quarter could take a hit of between $4 billion and $8 billion because of Shanghai-related problems with supplies.The Nikkei article, citing \"multiple sources with direct knowledge of the matter,\" says that the worst-case scenario could be delays in manufacturing the new phones.Apple has a standing policy of not discussing unannounced products and production plans. It didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.Meanwhile, Loop Capital analyst Ananda Baruah thinks Apple could scale back its production plans for iPhones this weekend. In a research note, he said that Wall Street estimates for iPhone sales in the June quarter could be too high by between 4 million and 6 million units and that he thinks estimates of the number sold in the March quarter overshot the real figure by 5 million.Apple doesn't disclose unit sales of iPhones, so there isn't any way to know the actual number.Baruah thinks that iPhone revenue for the June quarter could be at risk, but he also said consensus expectations for the September and December quarters could be too low. Therefore, I think Nvidia&#39;s market cap might stay between $500 billion and $700 billion over the next three years as it grapples with a cyclical slowdown in the GPU market.</p><h2>The near-term headwinds</h2><p>Investors should take analysts&#39; estimates with a grain of salt, but Nvidia stock likely needs to take a breather after its big growth spurt over the past few years.</p><p>In <b>HP</b>&#39;s (NYSE: HPQ) latest earnings report, it said its sales of consumer PCs fell 1% year-over-year as it faced tough comparisons to the boost it got from remote work and gaming upgrades during the pandemic. Its manufactured rental properties run around 50% less per square foot than a traditional home, which on average cost 254% more than a manufactured home.  This is huge given today&#39;s shortage of affordable homes.</p><p>Like Life Storage, this is another stock that has performed incredibly over the last decade, providing an annualized return of just under 20%, and it still has room to grow. It just completed an acquisition of Park Holidays UK, the leading mobile home and RV resort operator in the U.K., which added to its portfolio substantially. There are definitely headwinds that could slow growth, but I think it&#39;s definitely one that will still prosper in the coming decade.</p><h2>3. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/NLCP\">NewLake Capital Partners</a></h2><p>NewLake Capital Partners is one of the newest REITs to hit the market, coming public in August 2021. You don&#39;t often see small-cap companies like this make the list for decade-long winners, but there are several reasons I think NewLake Capital Partners could be a huge winner over the next 10 years.</p><p>The company specializes in buying existing real estate from cannabis operators and then leasing it back to them over long-term net leases, a structure called sale-leaseback. This business model has been a proven winner in the industry because U.S. laws prevent cannabis operators from storing or borrowing money from federal institutions such as banks.</p><p>Only one other public REIT specializes in this business model -- <b>Innovative Industrial Properties</b>. IIPR went public in 2017 and over the past five years, it&#39;s dominated this niche, providing an annualized return of 60%.</p><p>NewLake is right on track to follow in its footsteps, but the only difference is that NewLake trades for a much greater discount than its larger predecessor. There is long-term concern about the future of marijuana REITs like NewLake because of federal legalization, something that could happen in the next decade. But I don&#39;t see this is a huge problem. NewLake benefits from long-term leases, which have an average weighted term of 14.5 years, covering well beyond a decade&#39;s growth. Plus, private funding and alternative financing structures like this have existed in the private marketplace for decades, even when traditional loans were an option.</p><p>While these three stocks show signs of a promising future, nothing is guaranteed. The next year could hold more market turbulence than expected. The company established its roots in Southeast Asia and quickly emerged into a global player, extending its presence into South America and Europe.</p><p>Its global expansion seemed to be going well, but on March 6, Sea announced that it was closing its Shopee business in France, which was a surprise for investors but largely viewed as a mere blip in the long-term plan. The news that really raised investors&#39; eyebrows came on March 28 when Sea announced it is pulling the curtains on its e-commerce operations in India.</p><p>Why would Sea exit potentially <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of the largest markets in the world and derail its growth prospects? In the backdrop of its recent stock performance -- and the growing uncertainty around the economic environment with rising inflation and a major war -- many investors may be losing faith in the company.</p><h2>Digging deeper may offer some clues</h2><p>The seeds of Sea&#39;s exit from India may have been sown around Feb. 2022. The Indian government, citing national security and user data privacy concerns, banned 54 Chinese mobile apps. This ban included <i>Free Fire</i>, Garena&#39;s wildly popular battle royale mobile game. The immediate question from many familiar with Sea was: Why was <i>Free Fire</i> banned, when Sea is a Singaporean company, not a Chinese one.</p><p>One likely reason is that <b>Tencent Holdings</b>, the Chinese entertainment giant, has an 18.7% stake in Sea. That relationship likely raised enough red flags for the Indian government. It is interesting to note regulators permitted <i>Free Fire Max</i>, the premium version of <i>Free Fire</i>, to continue operations in India.</p><p>So how does the above event lead to Sea&#39;s India exit for Shopee? <i>Free Fire</i> is at the center of Sea&#39;s playbook of international expansion -- the company attracts a large user base with its engrossing video game, learns about users&#39; online habits, and creates opportunities to promote its e-commerce and digital payment services. Additionally, Garena designed <i>Free Fire</i> to run flawlessly even on low-end smartphones, ensuring the game can reach the majority of the population in developing countries.</p><p><i>Free Fire Max</i> doesn&#39;t have the same reach as it requires mobile phones with higher-end configurations. Not having <i>Free Fire</i> to lay the foundation in India threw a wrench in Sea&#39;s proven formula for expansion.</p><p>Finally, no one knows how the political situation between India and China may unfold. India may not ban Shopee today, but that doesn&#39;t mean it won&#39;t do so in the future. For Shopee to succeed in this highly competitive market, it would need to invest significantly, and the risk underlying that investment is simply too high. All factors considered, Sea&#39;s move to shutter its e-commerce operation in India looks like a smart and proactive business decision.</p><h2>Robust execution and long runway bode well</h2><p>Sea&#39;s founder and CEO Forrest Li has led the company brilliantly. Gamers now enjoy <i>Free Fire</i> in over 130 countries as Shopee launched in four countries in Latin America, three countries in Europe, and in China -- all in the past two and a half years. <i>Free Fire</i> has been the highest-grossing mobile app for 10 consecutive quarters in Southeast Asia and Latin America, according to data.ai. Sea&#39;s total revenue grew a whopping 128% in 2021 to reach $10 billion. Gross profits for the same period increased 189% to $3.9 billion.</p><p>The company is investing heavily to expand into new markets, and as a result, net losses also grew 26% during the year to $2.0 billion. However, Li believes that by 2025, the cash generated by Shopee and Sea Money, the primary beneficiaries of Sea&#39;s investments, collectively will enable these two businesses to substantially self-fund their own long-term growth.</p><p>The global opportunity for Sea remains large. Southeast Asia, Sea&#39;s core market, is one of the world&#39;s fastest-growing regions with a population rising over 50% faster than the United States&#39; and a GDP increasing more than twice as quickly. An expanding middle-class, rising average household incomes, and rapidly spreading cellphone and internet usage are creating more shoppers in the seven Southeast Asian countries where Sea operates.</p><p>The company is also gaining major traction in Brazil, the sixth-largest country by population. Shopee Brazil recorded more than 140 million orders in the fourth quarter, growing at close to 400% year over year. The company is also making headways in other South American countries.</p><p>Despite shutting down its e-commerce operation in India, Sea is projecting Shopee&#39;s revenue to grow 76% in 2022, while Sea Money grows 155%. These are very impressive numbers that underscore Sea&#39;s global scale and its ability to overcome hurdles in its growth trajectory.</p><h2>Now may be a good time to board the ship</h2><p>Management is forecasting a decline in bookings for Garena this year, which is understandable as the company faces the near-term headwinds of reopening economies across the world and <i>Free Fire</i>&#39;s ban in India. But Li remains aspirational and focused on the long-term prospects of the company.</p><p>Responding to the over 65% drop in the company&#39;s share price, Li assured employees in an email: &#34;Do not fear: we are in a strong position internally, and we are clear on our next steps. This is short-term pain that we have to endure to truly <i>maximise our long-term potential</i>.&#34; Lee went on to say: &#34;The scale of our ambition remains unchanged: to make a long-lasting mark in history.&#34;</p><p>Sea has successfully entered multiple international markets. The company is carefully assessing its opportunity in each region and making shrewd decisions to either expand or exit those markets. Sea&#39;s strategy of <i>failing fast</i> leads to efficient capital allocation for the company and bodes well for its future. And to add to investor worries, the company just announced it is shutting down its e-commerce operation in India.These recent headwinds may worry some investors enough to stay away from the stock, but for those with patience, Sea presents a great opportunity.Image source: Getty Images.Is international expansion hitting a roadblock?Sea has shrewdly established the key pillars of its business -- Garena, Shopee, and Sea Money -- to take advantage of three global megatrends: gaming, e-commerce, and digital financial services, respectively. The company established its roots in Southeast Asia and quickly emerged into a global player, extending its presence into South America and Europe.Its global expansion seemed to be going well, but on March 6, Sea announced that it was closing its Shopee business in France, which was a surprise for investors but largely viewed as a mere blip in the long-term plan. The news that really raised investors' eyebrows came on March 28 when Sea announced it is pulling the curtains on its e-commerce operations in India.Why would Sea exit potentially one of the largest markets in the world and derail its growth prospects? In the backdrop of its recent stock performance -- and the growing uncertainty around the economic environment with rising inflation and a major war -- many investors may be losing faith in the company.Digging deeper may offer some cluesThe seeds of Sea's exit from India may have been sown around Feb. 2022. The Indian government, citing national security and user data privacy concerns, banned 54 Chinese mobile apps. This ban included Free Fire, Garena's wildly popular battle royale mobile game. The immediate question from many familiar with Sea was: Why was Free Fire banned, when Sea is a Singaporean company, not a Chinese one.One likely reason is that Tencent Holdings, the Chinese entertainment giant, has an 18.7% stake in Sea. That relationship likely raised enough red flags for the Indian government. It is interesting to note regulators permitted Free Fire Max, the premium version of Free Fire, to continue operations in India.So how does the above event lead to Sea's India exit for Shopee? Free Fire is at the center of Sea's playbook of international expansion -- the company attracts a large user base with its engrossing video game, learns about users' online habits, and creates opportunities to promote its e-commerce and digital payment services. Additionally, Garena designed Free Fire to run flawlessly even on low-end smartphones, ensuring the game can reach the majority of the population in developing countries.Free Fire Max doesn't have the same reach as it requires mobile phones with higher-end configurations. Not having Free Fire to lay the foundation in India threw a wrench in Sea's proven formula for expansion.Finally, no one knows how the political situation between India and China may unfold. India may not ban Shopee today, but that doesn't mean it won't do so in the future. For Shopee to succeed in this highly competitive market, it would need to invest significantly, and the risk underlying that investment is simply too high. All factors considered, Sea's move to shutter its e-commerce operation in India looks like a smart and proactive business decision.Robust execution and long runway bode wellSea's founder and CEO Forrest Li has led the company brilliantly. Gamers now enjoy Free Fire in over 130 countries as Shopee launched in four countries in Latin America, three countries in Europe, and in China -- all in the past two and a half years. Free Fire has been the highest-grossing mobile app for 10 consecutive quarters in Southeast Asia and Latin America, according to data.ai. Sea's total revenue grew a whopping 128% in 2021 to reach $10 billion. Gross profits for the same period increased 189% to $3.9 billion.The company is investing heavily to expand into new markets, and as a result, net losses also grew 26% during the year to $2.0 billion. However, Li believes that by 2025, the cash generated by Shopee and Sea Money, the primary beneficiaries of Sea's investments, collectively will enable these two businesses to substantially self-fund their own long-term growth.The global opportunity for Sea remains large. Southeast Asia, Sea's core market, is one of the world's fastest-growing regions with a population rising over 50% faster than the United States' and a GDP increasing more than twice as quickly. An expanding middle-class, rising average household incomes, and rapidly spreading cellphone and internet usage are creating more shoppers in the seven Southeast Asian countries where Sea operates.The company is also gaining major traction in Brazil, the sixth-largest country by population. Shopee Brazil recorded more than 140 million orders in the fourth quarter, growing at close to 400% year over year. The company is also making headways in other South American countries.Despite shutting down its e-commerce operation in India, Sea is projecting Shopee's revenue to grow 76% in 2022, while Sea Money grows 155%. These are very impressive numbers that underscore Sea's global scale and its ability to overcome hurdles in its growth trajectory.Now may be a good time to board the shipManagement is forecasting a decline in bookings for Garena this year, which is understandable as the company faces the near-term headwinds of reopening economies across the world and Free Fire's ban in India. But Li remains aspirational and focused on the long-term prospects of the company.Responding to the over 65% drop in the company's share price, Li assured employees in an email: \"Do not fear: we are in a strong position internally, and we are clear on our next steps. This is short-term pain that we have to endure to truly maximise our long-term potential.\" Lee went on to say: \"The scale of our ambition remains unchanged: to make a long-lasting mark in history.\"Sea has successfully entered multiple international markets. The company is carefully assessing its opportunity in each region and making shrewd decisions to either expand or exit those markets. Sea's strategy of failing fast leads to efficient capital allocation for the company and bodes well for its future. The agreement, which hasn’t been announced, covers nickel from Canada, according to people familiar with the matter who asked not to be named discussing private details.</p><p>Unlike most of its peer automakers, Tesla has spent years focusing on how to secure its own nickel supplies.</p><p>The efforts are part of Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk’s focus on vertical integration to maintain control over Tesla’s supply chain. The market could settle down if there are signs the war will end.</p><p>“The nickel price surge and the implications from the Russia-Ukraine war are likely to push battery manufacturers, particularly in the U.S., to secure alternate supply chains,” according to a BloombergNEF report.</p><p>Tesla’s deal with Vale is one of several that the carmaker has forged over the last year. In January, the Austin, Texas-based EV manufacturer committed to purchase 75,000 metric tons of nickel concentrate from a Talon Metals Corp. project being developed in Minnesota. index (PMI).</p><p>&#34;You&#39;re starting to see that there are a lot of investors who are concerned about valuations going forward, but there are others who are worried about growth, so it seems the wall of worry keeps on growing as the economy exits this pandemic,&#34; said Ed Moya, senior market analyst at OANDA.</p><p>Philadelphia Fed President Patrick Harker said on Tuesday it may be appropriate for the U.S. central bank to raise rates four times this year, while Atlanta Fed president Raphael Bostic said the Fed needs to act &#34;soon&#34; to control inflation expectations.</p><p>Traders are betting on five rate hikes this year, with some Wall Street analysts expecting seven hikes.</p><p>&#34;This will be the year when Fed will pull back support ... the markets will not be on steroids anymore and may go through a phase of detox,&#34; said Anu Gaggar, global investment strategist at Commonwealth Financial Network.</p><p>Geopolitical tensions added to market volatility, with Ukraine&#39;s president signing a decree to boost his armed forces by 100,000 troops over three years, as European leaders lined up to back him in a standoff with Russia and the United States demanded immediate Russian de-escalation.</p><p>The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 273.38 points, or 0.78%, to 35,405.24, the S&amp;P 500 gained 30.99 points, or 0.69%, to 4,546.54 and the Nasdaq Composite added 106.12 points, or 0.75%, to 14,346.00.</p><p>Once again, energy led the major S&amp;P sectors, gaining 3.5% to close at a record high. The index is, by far, the best performer in 2022, up 23.2%, as U.S. crude hovers near a seven-year high.</p><p>Those strong energy prices helped Exxon Mobil Corp to post its biggest quarterly profit in seven years on Tuesday. Its stock jumped 6.4% as a result, to close above the $80-per-share mark for the first time since April 2019.</p><p>As of Tuesday, 184 S&amp;P 500 companies posted quarterly results, of which 78.8% reported earnings above analyst expectations, according to Refinitiv.</p><p>Google parent Alphabet Inc rose 1.7% ahead of quarterly results published after the bell. Even though Wall Street analysts and investment banks are best-known for cheering on innovation, there are instances where they expect well-known stocks to head lower.</p><p>Based on the lowest published price target from Wall Street, the following three stocks are expected to plunge between 42% and 92% in 2022.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08bd510be5ae746f0867c5de1184417a\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"464\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p><h2>Tesla Motors: Implied decline of 92%</h2><p>It likely comes as no surprise that electric vehicle (EV) kingpin <b>Tesla Motors</b> (NASDAQ:TSLA) is a highly polarizing stock among Wall Street analysts. While some believe the company could nearly double in value from the $829 a share it closed at on Jan. 27, Gordon Johnson at GLJ Research foresees Tesla falling more than 90%, based on his price target of $67 for the company.</p><p>To be fair, Tesla has done a lot of things right. CEO Elon Musk built the company from the ground-up to mass production. Tesla is the first automaker in more than five decades to successfully enter the auto market and reach mass production.</p><p>Tesla has also had no issues with consumer demand, as evidenced by its production ramp and deliveries. When 2021 began, Tesla was expected to be in the neighborhood of 750,000 EV deliveries for the year. But when the curtain closed, the world&#39;s most valuable automaker had delivered more than 936,000 EVs.  With the gigafactory in Austin, Texas, set to open soon, Tesla will have plenty of opportunity to increase production to meet growing consumer EV demand.</p><p>But there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical of Tesla and its $833 billion valuation. For example, even though Elon Musk&#39;s innovation has been a driving force behind his company&#39;s success, he&#39;s also been something of a liability. Musk&#39;s social media presence has previously got him in trouble with regulators, and his forecasted timeline for new product rollouts is almost always far too ambitious. Most new vehicles roll off the assembly line later than expected. Additionally, the company&#39;s full self-driving (FSD) software remains something of a work in progress, despite Musk touting FSD&#39;s potential for more than five years.</p><p>Another clear issue is Tesla&#39;s valuation. Auto stocks are traditionally valued at single-digit price-to-earnings (P/E) ratios to reflect their generally high debt levels and the cyclical nature of the auto industry. Tesla has consistently sported a forward-year P/E ratio in the triple digits.</p><p>With other major automakers spending tens of billions of dollars on EV and battery research, it&#39;s likely that Tesla&#39;s competitive edge will shrink over time, as well. While a $67 price target is probably too bearish given Tesla&#39;s current competitive advantages, I do believe downside is warranted.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a38605bee8e62f3e8aa414fa24278e7e\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p><h2>Moderna: Implied decline of 42%</h2><p>A second extremely popular stock <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> Wall Street investment bank believes will plunge in 2022 is biotech stock <b>Moderna</b> (NASDAQ:MRNA). According to analyst Mani Foroohar of SVB Leerink, Moderna is on track to hit $86 this year, which implies downside of 42% in the company&#39;s shares.</p><p>Most people are probably familiar with Moderna given the role it&#39;s played in combatting the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The company&#39;s vaccine, mRNA-1273, produced a 94.1% vaccine efficacy (VE) in U.S. clinical trials, which were reported in November 2020. To date, it&#39;s one of only three vaccines to have generated a VE of 90% or higher. Although VE isn&#39;t the only measure of success for COVID-19 vaccines, it&#39;s the headline figure a lot of people are using when deciding which vaccines or booster shot to receive.</p><p>To add, the mutability of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 is a potential positive for Moderna. While we&#39;d prefer to see COVID-19 go away completely or mutate into less-severe forms, new variants of the disease provide Moderna with recurring revenue opportunities, either with booster shots or variant-specific vaccines.</p><p>However, competition among COVID-19 treatments is only growing. Aside from COVID-19-specific vaccines still in development, competitors are working on influenza/COVID-19 combination vaccines that could prove more appealing. Also, oral treatments are in the works for a handful of companies. This all brings into question how long Moderna can hang onto its share of COVID-19 treatment revenue.</p><p>What&#39;s more, Moderna&#39;s only source of recurring revenue is mRNA-1273. Even with shares of the company retracing 70% from an all-time high, investors are still paying $60 billion for a company that has only one therapy generating sales. In my view, it makes Moderna a risky bet, even after its significant pullback.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b35f28e4268db10d254dbc217fa38cef\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p><h2>Transocean: Implied decline of 69%</h2><p>A third popular stock with the potential to plunge in 2022 is offshore oil-drilling company <b>Transocean</b> (NYSE:RIG). Despite its shares falling 98% since peaking in 2007, one Wall Street investment bank foresees Transocean hitting $1 per share this year, implying further downside of 69% from where it closed on Jan. 27.</p><p>If there is good news for the company, it&#39;s that oil prices are soaring. West Texas Intermediate crude and Brent crude recently surpassed $87/barrel and $90/barrel, respectively. Although deepwater drilling, which is what Transocean specializes in, can be quite costly, the highest price for crude since 2014 offer more than enough incentive for exploration and production (E&amp;P) companies to contract with Transocean at these prices.</p><p>The company&#39;s backlog also appears to suggest that E&amp;P companies are comfortable with crude oil prices for the foreseeable future. Transocean ended 2021 with a $7.1 billion contract backlog, which equates to almost three years&#39; worth of revenue.</p><p>However, the big concern for Transocean is the company&#39;s balance sheet. At the end of September, it had $900 million in cash and cash equivalents and $7.3 billion in total debt. With the Federal Reserve set to begin raising lending rates, highly indebted companies like Transocean are getting put under the microscope by Wall Street.</p><p>Furthermore, Transocean&#39;s deepwater rig utilization rates aren&#39;t that impressive. Even though Wall Street analysts and investment banks are best-known for cheering on innovation, there are instances where they expect well-known stocks to head lower.Based on the lowest published price target from Wall Street, the following three stocks are expected to plunge between 42% and 92% in 2022.Image source: Getty Images.Tesla Motors: Implied decline of 92%It likely comes as no surprise that electric vehicle (EV) kingpin Tesla Motors (NASDAQ:TSLA) is a highly polarizing stock among Wall Street analysts. While some believe the company could nearly double in value from the $829 a share it closed at on Jan. 27, Gordon Johnson at GLJ Research foresees Tesla falling more than 90%, based on his price target of $67 for the company.To be fair, Tesla has done a lot of things right. CEO Elon Musk built the company from the ground-up to mass production. Tesla is the first automaker in more than five decades to successfully enter the auto market and reach mass production.Tesla has also had no issues with consumer demand, as evidenced by its production ramp and deliveries. When 2021 began, Tesla was expected to be in the neighborhood of 750,000 EV deliveries for the year. But when the curtain closed, the world's most valuable automaker had delivered more than 936,000 EVs.  With the gigafactory in Austin, Texas, set to open soon, Tesla will have plenty of opportunity to increase production to meet growing consumer EV demand.But there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical of Tesla and its $833 billion valuation. For example, even though Elon Musk's innovation has been a driving force behind his company's success, he's also been something of a liability. Musk's social media presence has previously got him in trouble with regulators, and his forecasted timeline for new product rollouts is almost always far too ambitious. Most new vehicles roll off the assembly line later than expected. Additionally, the company's full self-driving (FSD) software remains something of a work in progress, despite Musk touting FSD's potential for more than five years.Another clear issue is Tesla's valuation. Auto stocks are traditionally valued at single-digit price-to-earnings (P/E) ratios to reflect their generally high debt levels and the cyclical nature of the auto industry. Tesla has consistently sported a forward-year P/E ratio in the triple digits.With other major automakers spending tens of billions of dollars on EV and battery research, it's likely that Tesla's competitive edge will shrink over time, as well. While a $67 price target is probably too bearish given Tesla's current competitive advantages, I do believe downside is warranted.Image source: Getty Images.Moderna: Implied decline of 42%A second extremely popular stock one Wall Street investment bank believes will plunge in 2022 is biotech stock Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA). According to analyst Mani Foroohar of SVB Leerink, Moderna is on track to hit $86 this year, which implies downside of 42% in the company's shares.Most people are probably familiar with Moderna given the role it's played in combatting the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The company's vaccine, mRNA-1273, produced a 94.1% vaccine efficacy (VE) in U.S. clinical trials, which were reported in November 2020. To date, it's one of only three vaccines to have generated a VE of 90% or higher. Although VE isn't the only measure of success for COVID-19 vaccines, it's the headline figure a lot of people are using when deciding which vaccines or booster shot to receive.To add, the mutability of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 is a potential positive for Moderna. While we'd prefer to see COVID-19 go away completely or mutate into less-severe forms, new variants of the disease provide Moderna with recurring revenue opportunities, either with booster shots or variant-specific vaccines.However, competition among COVID-19 treatments is only growing. Aside from COVID-19-specific vaccines still in development, competitors are working on influenza/COVID-19 combination vaccines that could prove more appealing. Also, oral treatments are in the works for a handful of companies. This all brings into question how long Moderna can hang onto its share of COVID-19 treatment revenue.What's more, Moderna's only source of recurring revenue is mRNA-1273. Even with shares of the company retracing 70% from an all-time high, investors are still paying $60 billion for a company that has only one therapy generating sales. In my view, it makes Moderna a risky bet, even after its significant pullback.Image source: Getty Images.Transocean: Implied decline of 69%A third popular stock with the potential to plunge in 2022 is offshore oil-drilling company Transocean (NYSE:RIG). Despite its shares falling 98% since peaking in 2007, one Wall Street investment bank foresees Transocean hitting $1 per share this year, implying further downside of 69% from where it closed on Jan. 27.If there is good news for the company, it's that oil prices are soaring. West Texas Intermediate crude and Brent crude recently surpassed $87/barrel and $90/barrel, respectively. Although deepwater drilling, which is what Transocean specializes in, can be quite costly, the highest price for crude since 2014 offer more than enough incentive for exploration and production (E&P) companies to contract with Transocean at these prices.The company's backlog also appears to suggest that E&P companies are comfortable with crude oil prices for the foreseeable future. Transocean ended 2021 with a $7.1 billion contract backlog, which equates to almost three years' worth of revenue.However, the big concern for Transocean is the company's balance sheet. At the end of September, it had $900 million in cash and cash equivalents and $7.3 billion in total debt. With the Federal Reserve set to begin raising lending rates, highly indebted companies like Transocean are getting put under the microscope by Wall Street.Furthermore, Transocean's deepwater rig utilization rates aren't that impressive. RH is a luxury furniture seller that showcases its designs in high-end galleries throughout the U.S. RH is in a similar position to Amazon in dealing with supply chain difficulties. However, the company has continued to post tremendous results. The third quarter saw sales increase 19% over the prior year and break $1 billion in the quarter. Even better, the company is becoming more profitable while growing sales. The operating margin in Q3 came in at 27%, a very impressive margin for a physical product-based company.</p><p>RH has big plans for expansion to Europe. These plans have been pushed back by the pandemic, but management is insistent that they will proceed. The company is set to begin this expansion in the U.K. and then follow with galleries in Paris, Munich, and Dusseldorf. Overall, RH believes it has a global addressable market of $20 billion to $25 billion. Management has a history of success and has guided the company admirably throughout the pandemic. The stock now trades at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio lower than at any time since the pandemic crash.
