Elon Musk's company ranks as the top position in Wood's flagship exchange-traded fund, ARK Innovation ETF. But Wood also likes several healthcare stocks. In this Motley Fool Live video recorded on April 7, Motley Fool contributors Keith Speights and Brian Orelli identify four healthcare stocks that are among Wood's top holdings that just might deliver bigger gains than Tesla.
\n
Keith Speights: All right. Let's switch to a fun story, Brian. Now, you and I, we cover healthcare. We don't get to talk about stocks like Tesla very often, we just don't. We're going to talk about Tesla, kind of.
\n
Cathie Wood, famous investor, very well-known investor, highly followed investor. Her ARK Invest came out not long ago with a 2025 price target for Tesla that caused all kinds of controversy. It's way higher than Tesla's current price. They took a beating for predicting that Tesla's shares were going to really just skyrocket over the next few years.
\n
But Cathie Wood also likes quite a few healthcare stocks. I'm curious, Brian. Are there any of Cathie Wood's favorite healthcare stocks that you think could deliver bigger gains than Tesla will over the next five years?
\n
Brian Orelli: Yeah. The only one in the top holdings that I saw that I own is Vertex Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:VRTX). It's big and in cystic fibrosis. Growth has been slowing down as it will treat more patients with its different medications. It's up to maybe three to four medications depending on how you count the combinations.
\n
It needs to find its next growth driver. There's plenty of pipeline candidates both internally developed, as well as licensed products. Among the licensed products, CRISPR Therapeutics (NASDAQ:CRSP) has a deal with the company. They have a treatment for beta-thalassemia and sickle cell that's already in clinical trials and has shown early efficacy, and then they have some earlier programs in Duchenne's muscular dystrophy, a disease called DM1, and cystic fibrosis.
\n
On the rest of her list, I really like Regeneron (NASDAQ:REGN). It's one that I've always wished I owned, but it always seemed a little expensive. But that's the way good companies go sometimes and so sometimes, you just have to bite the bullet and buy it and I never did.
\n
If you're going to buy a large biotech company, you want to go for one with a lot of shots on goal and Regeneron has maybe almost the most shots on goal. It's really done well. I can't even think of Regeneron drug that has actually failed. I think maybe that's one of the reasons why it's doing well, even though it's had a really high price. Valuation is just because it's had so few failures, it's done really well at developing antibodies and being successful at that.
\n
Anything on the list that you saw?
\n
Speights: Yeah. First, I would agree with you on both Vertex and Regeneron. The tickers there by the way are VRTX for Vertex and REGN for Regeneron. Yeah. When you're looking at big biotechs, those two are my favorites.
\n
Like you Brian, I own Vertex. I don't own Regeneron, but also like you, I wish I had bought it several years ago. Those are great picks that I do think both of those depending on how their pipeline candidates play out over the next few years, both of those stocks could potentially beat Tesla.
\n
I also like and own Teladoc Health (NYSE:TDOC). Ticker there is TDOC. That's another Cathie Wood favorite that she is very bullish on. I think Teladoc Health has been beaten down quite a bit over the last couple of months, but I think it's a stock that could very easily outperform Tesla over the next five years as virtual care really gains momentum.
\n
I will throw in a much riskier stock that I don't own, but just I've started doing a little research into. It's a stock called Twist Bioscience (NASDAQ:TWST). The ticker there is TWST. What Twist does is it makes synthetic DNA. The company offers next-generation sequencing products. It develops antibodies for biopharma companies, it's working on storing data and DNA.
\n
The market cap right now is only around $6 billion. They generated revenue of $90 million last year. It's priced at a premium, but investors are expecting great things from Twist Bioscience. Again, it's one of Cathie Wood's favorite biotech stocks and it's one that, like I said, is really risky, but it could pay off over the long run. It's one that I'm keeping my eye on.
\n
Orelli: Twist just came on to my watchlist like in the last week.
\n
Speights: Yeah.
\n
Orelli: Because it was spurred on by this podcast. Luke Timmerman does a podcast called The Long Run, and the CEO, Emily Leproust was on the podcast. I'll put that link to that podcast in the chat. If anybody wants to get more information on Twist and what they're doing, I think that was a really interesting podcast.
\n
Speights: Maybe sometime in the not-too-distant future, Brian, you and I can go a little deeper, dive into Twist Bioscience just to give our viewers more information about this biotech that's on both of our watchlists right now.
\n
Orelli: Yeah, that sounds good.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
4 Cathie Wood Stocks That Could Deliver Bigger Gains Than Tesla
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n4 Cathie Wood Stocks That Could Deliver Bigger Gains Than Tesla\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-04-16 19:51 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Everyone knows that ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood is a huge fan of Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA). Despite this, all three major U.S. indexes have rocketed to all-time highs.
\n
The reason? Over time, operating earnings growth drives equity valuations higher. We're never going to be able to predict what happens in the short run with any accuracy, but buying game-changing businesses and holding onto them for long periods of time tends to be a surefire moneymaking strategy.
\n
But here's what most folks overlook: You don't need a gigantic pocketbook to build wealth on Wall Street. If you have $200 you can spare, which won't be needed to pay bills or cover an emergency, you have more than enough to start or further your trek toward financial independence. Here are some of the smartest stocks you can buy right now with $200.
\n

\n
\n
Palantir Technologies
\n
One of the best ways for patient investors to put $200 to work right now would be to buy data-mining specialist Palantir Technologies (NYSE:PLTR). The company isn't exactly cheap at 42 times last year's sales but it's growing so quickly that it has a good chance to grow into its big shoes, so to speak.
\n
Palantir is a dual-threat company. Its Gotham platform is designed to help the U.S. government mine through copious amounts of data so it can plan missions and keep its citizens safe. Multiple branches of the U.S. government have existing or pending contracts with the company. In total, 56% of its roughly $1.1 billion in sales last year were brought in by Gotham.
\n
There's also the company's Foundry platform, which provides large-scale data analytics for predominantly medium- and large-sized businesses. Without getting too deep into company speak, Foundry allows businesses to aggregate and visualize their data to better streamline their operations. Foundry ended 2020 with 24 customers in the Global 300, implying it has a long runway to land new clients.
\n
What both Gotham and Foundry bring to the table is a reliance on artificial intelligence (AI). Palantir's software solutions lean on AI to grow smarter all the time. Being able to adapt to a dynamic world and economy is what's helped Palantir hang onto its biggest clients.
\n
What should investors expect from Palantir? Look for bigger businesses to latch on, but at the same time, the company's concentration of sales from its biggest customers may decline. By mid-decade, Foundry has the potential to be Palantir's core growth driver. Sales growth could reasonably remain in the 30%+ range for much of the decade.
\n

\n
\n
Cresco Labs
\n
Another exceptionally smart way to put $200 to work right now is by focusing on U.S. marijuana stocks. Even though Canadian pot stocks are more well-known, it's the U.S. multistate operators (MSO) that have a clear path to fast double-digit growth rates and recurring profitability. The cannabis stock that looks particularly cheap at the moment is Cresco Labs (OTC:CRLBF).
\n
Not to sound like a broken record, but Cresco Labs is also a dual threat. On one hand, it has its retail segment, which is common for pretty much all MSOs. Not including two pending acquisitions, Cresco has 24 operational dispensaries at the moment, with 29 total licenses in its back pocket. If the aforementioned deals close, it'll have more than 30 open dispensaries and the ability to have close to four dozen retail stores.
\n
Perhaps the most interesting thing about Cresco's retail approach is that it's targeting a handful of limited-license markets. It's maximized its presence in Illinois (10 stores) and Ohio (5 stores), each of which caps the number of retail stores allowable in their respective states. By focusing on these limited-license markets, Cresco is giving itself the best possible chance to scoop up market share in billion-dollar markets.
\n
On the other hand, Cresco has the cannabis industry's leading wholesale operations, which accounted for just over half of its 2020 sales. Wall Street appears to be discounting Cresco Labs relative to its peers because wholesale produces lower margins than retail. The thing is, Cresco's wholesale segment has access to more than 575 dispensaries in California, the largest marijuana market in the world by annual sales.
\n
Investors can currently scoop up shares of Cresco for about 2.5 times forward-year sales, which is well below the industry average for U.S. MSOs. That's a big-time bargain folks shouldn't pass up.
\n

\n
\n
Bristol Myers Squibb
\n
For those of you who aren't big risk takers, consider putting your $200 to work in pharmaceutical stock Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY). Would you be surprised if I mentioned that Bristol Myers is a dual threat, with both acquisitive and organic growth driving its top and bottom line higher?
\n
On the acquisition front, Bristol Myers completed its purchase of drug developer Celgene in November 2019. Celgene primarily focused its efforts in oncology and immunology, with multiple myeloma superstar Revlimid leading the way.
\n
Since its approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) more than a decade ago, Revlimid has been growing annually by a double-digit percentage. It has benefited from label-expansion opportunities, longer duration of use, improved cancer-screening diagnostics, and strong pricing power.
\n
Last year, Revlimid bought in $12.1 billion of Bristol Myers' $42.5 billion in worldwide product sales. The best part is it's protected from a full onslaught of generic competition until the end of January 2026. This gives Bristol Myers Squibb almost five more years to rake in the cash flow from this blockbuster.
\n
On the organic-growth front, all eyes are on blood thinner Eliquis, which was co-developed with Pfizer, and cancer immunotherapy Opdivo. Eliquis has become the leading global oral anticoagulant, with Bristol Myers recognizing nearly $9.2 billion in sales in 2020 (up 16%). Meanwhile, Opdivo's sales retraced slightly to $7 billion last year. Nevertheless, Opdivo is being examined in dozens of clinical trials as a monotherapy or combination therapy, which offers plenty of hope for future label-expansion opportunities.
\n
The bottom line is that investors can buy shares of Bristol Myers Squibb for about eight times Wall Street's forward-year consensus earnings, which is downright cheap. They'll also net a cool 3.1% dividend yield for their patience.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
The Smartest Stocks to Buy With $200 Right Now
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThe Smartest Stocks to Buy With $200 Right Now\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-04-16 19:52 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
For the past 14 months, stock market volatility has been above historic norms (thanks, coronavirus!). Fool","summary":"A slight miss in Disney+ subscribers disappointed investors, but that's missing the forest for the trees.","content":"
Disney (NYSE:DIS) stock has doubled from its pandemic low in March 2020. But with the stock price, it's all about \"what have you done for me lately?\" Investors were disappointed with a \"miss\" on the Disney+ subscriber numbers from the most recent quarter, and the stock pulled back a bit after earnings. On this Motley Fool Live episode recorded on May 26, Motley Fool contributors Toby Bordelon and Brian Withers discuss the results from its recent quarter and whether the stock has \"priced in\" the reopening surge already.
\n
Toby Bordelon: Let's jump into the next stock here, and lets talk about Disney, what not to love? We got theme parks reopening. What's going on. We have California theme parks are open now. They opened at the end of April. They are heading to full capacity. June 1st of 4th, one of those. I can't remember the exact date, but next week or the week after, they will be at full capacity. This is fantastic.
\n
If you remember to pre-pandemic if you followed Disney, their biggest revenue segment was the theme parks, which also includes the cruise lines. But to have those parks getting back to full capacity is a very good thing. People are coming back to theaters. I saw a recent survey from a movie theater chain or Fandango I believe it was. The percentages are really high in terms of people who are going to theaters who want to go back, who are going to go see multiple movies at summer or plan to. That's a really good sign. Marvel's Phase Four is about to kick off in the theaters. We got a couple of new shows on Disney+ Loki starting up, beginning in June.
\n
But let's talk about one thing. Let's highlight one thing here. The recent earnings report with a little bit disappointing to some investors because of those Disney+ numbers. What were those numbers? They came in at 104 million subscribers, and were expecting 109 million, and so were quibbling at about a five percent difference. When if you look at what's happened in the past year-and-a-half, Disney+ has gone from 0-104 million in about 17 months. That's amazing and I don't want to, I think if you are quibbling over five million, you're missing the point here. They'll outperform Netflix in the quarter in terms of additional subscribers. ESPN+ seems to be growing, which is strange when we think about because that's the one that probably has the least amount of original content. They are doing well, average revenue per user is growing at that at ESPN+ turn, churn at Disney+ is not a problem. They seem to be doing quite well there. I think this company is doing fine. I don't think anyone should worry about this, and future looks good for them.
\n
Brian Withers: That's an exciting update. Toby, I love to see the parks coming back open again. But the market has already priced a lot of this reopening already into the stock. I looked at the stock prices from March of 2020, mid-March when the coronavirus really came in and started to shut things down. Disney [stock] has doubled since then. Do you think we could see Disney shares priced lower a year from now?
\n
Toby Bordelon: It's certainly possible. Like you said, there is a lot of priced in right now. But I think we may be surprised when we get to the end of this year about the rebound surge of the theme parks and the movie theaters. I'm not sure that even with pricing in this reopening trade as it were, that we're really capturing the fullness of what Disney can do.
\n
Look at those theme parks. We got the Star Wars hotel that's opening up, which is a multi-day experience that you stay in this hotel and you don't leave. The new Avengers Campus at Disneyland, I think that's opening up beginning of June as well. There is a lot going on to both bringing people back and to potentially bring in a new segment of people who might not have been big fans of Disneyland, Disney World parks before with The Avengers and Star Wars stuff. This is a major entertainment juggernaut and that's not going to change anytime soon. Maybe you see a little bit of drop-off in the stock price, but it's not something I would worry about really.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Disney's Reopening Is On Track, But What's Up With the Stock?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nDisney's Reopening Is On Track, But What's Up With the Stock?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-18 19:50 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Disney (NYSE:DIS) stock has doubled from its pandemic low in March 2020. Japan’s Nikkei 225 slipped 1.1 per cent, while South Korea’s Kospi retreated 1.2 per cent and Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 lost 1.1 per cent.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":75,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":199622633619616,"gmtCreate":1689766784134,"gmtModify":1689766788029,"author":{"id":"3574902015347794","authorId":"3574902015347794","name":"junhong9788","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/15e8a1c754a393b8db54cd88b0bbf543","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574902015347794","authorIdStr":"3574902015347794"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ popi popi ","listText":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ popi popi ","text":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ popi popi","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/34c497057b23b6536723d609ce2a5611","width":"898","height":"1475"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/199622633619616","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":210,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9940339923,"gmtCreate":1677682978162,"gmtModify":1677682982252,"author":{"id":"3574902015347794","authorId":"3574902015347794","name":"junhong9788","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/15e8a1c754a393b8db54cd88b0bbf543","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574902015347794","authorIdStr":"3574902015347794"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"He's right.........[Spurting] [Spurting] [Spurting] ","listText":"He's right.........[Spurting] [Spurting] [Spurting] ","text":"He's right.........[Spurting] [Spurting] [Spurting]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9940339923","repostId":"9940966536","repostType":1,"repost":{"id":9940966536,"gmtCreate":1677653586826,"gmtModify":1677653591461,"author":{"id":"3580625969745490","authorId":"3580625969745490","name":"boonchong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49aa77ad0af13cd80f20edbad1234522","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3580625969745490","authorIdStr":"3580625969745490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ <v-v data-views=\"0\"></v-v>BearishBearishBearishit .. things played out perfectly and exactly 💯 as per my detailed analysis insights and over 35 years of trading experience ","listText":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ <v-v data-views=\"0\"></v-v>BearishBearishBearishit .. things played out perfectly and exactly 💯 as per my detailed analysis insights and over 35 years of trading experience ","text":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ BearishBearishBearishit .. things played out perfectly and exactly 💯 as per my detailed analysis insights and over 35 years of trading experience","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9940966536","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":0,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":147,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
