When first responders arrived to put out a fire that resulted, they found that no <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> was in the vehicle's driver's seat. One passenger was in the front and another in the back.</p><p>This isn't the first fatality linked to Tesla's driver assistance platform. Back in 2016, a Florida driver died after the Model S he was driving crashed into a turning truck while the Autopilot mode was engaged. According to reports, the vehicle never slowed down before impact.</p><p>Tesla has maintained that its vehicles are safe and that in the long run, autonomous vehicle and driver assistance systems will be at least as effective in avoiding accidents as human-driven vehicles. Each time an accident happens, though, worries rise that regulators might take steps slowing the pace of autonomous vehicle innovation both for Tesla and for other automakers.</p><h2>Will the U.K. stop this NVIDIA deal?</h2><p>Elsewhere, NVIDIA shares were down a bit more than 1%. The semiconductor giant faced a new setback in its efforts to acquire chip design specialist <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/ARMH\">ARM Holdings</a>.</p><p>Regulators in the U.K. have said that they will look at the potential impact of NVIDIA's acquisition of ARM in the context of national security. The first step involved the filing of an intervention notice that will start the clock on gathering additional information regarding the $40 billion deal. Evaluation could take months, with an initial deadline near the end of July for the filing of a report. Upon completion of the report, regulators will decide whether to allow the deal to move forward or conduct an even longer inquiry.</p><p>The NVIDIA-ARM acquisition has been controversial for a while. Several of the largest tech companies in the world have opposed the sale by Japan's <b>SoftBank </b>(OTC:SFTB.Y), citing the potential threat to their existing licensing deals with ARM.</p><p>At best, the regulation further delays what could be a strategically important acquisition for NVIDIA. When Canada banned cruising through 2022, it was seen as a major impediment to the popular summer cruises to Alaska. Alaska cruises traditionally stop in Canada, because U.S. maritime law bars foreign-flagged ships from transporting passengers directly between two U.S. ports. But Congress last week approved a waiver on the rule, paving the way for Norwegian’s announcement.</p><p>The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says cruise ships can only return if they follow <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of two paths. They can either confirm 95% of passengers and 98% of crew are vaccinated, or they can go through a rigorous approval process with no-revenue trial sailings for each ship. Norwegian is pursuing the former path, and said it expects to obtain a so-called conditional sailing certificate from the CDC “in the coming days.”</p><p>But it’s also noteworthy that the initial restart will be far from Florida, home of Norwegian’s corporate headquarters and the world’s largest cruise port, PortMiami. They can either confirm 95% of passengers and 98% of crew are vaccinated, or they can go through a rigorous approval process with no-revenue trial sailings for each ship. The net-add forecast for the March quarter is down from the 15.8 million spike in subscribers driven by Covid-19 in the year-ago first quarter.</p>\n<p>The company expects operating margin in the March quarter to jump to 25%, from 16.6% a year ago and 14.4% in the fourth quarter.</p>\n<p>Last quarter,Netflix surprised Wall Street&nbsp;with the news that it now expects to be cash flow break-even or better moving forward—and that it has begun considering stock buybacks. Netflix had $1.9 billion in positive free cash flow in 2020, thanks to lower production costs as a result of the pandemic, compared with a $3.3 billion cash flow loss in 2019. For 2021, Netflix expects to break even on a cash flow basis. Fourth-quarter cash flow was negative $138 million.</p>\n<p>Netflix also said that with $8.2 billion in cash and an untouched $750 million credit facility, “we believe we no longer have a need to raise external financing for our day-to-day operations.” In addition, the streaming giant said it had about $16 billion in debt overall and expects to maintain $10 billion to $15 billion in gross debt over time. Netflix said it would “explore returning cash to shareholders through ongoing stock buybacks,” something it hasn’t done since 2011.</p>\n<p>The stock shot higher on that news, but has since eased back, as attention turns to the potential for slowing near-term subscriber growth. Analyst sentiment heading into earnings is mixed.</p>\n<p>Piper Sandler analyst Thomas Champion, who has an Overweight rating and $605 target price on Netflix, is bullish on the stock heading into the report. The net-add forecast for the March quarter is down from the 15.8 million spike in subscribers driven by Covid-19 in the year-ago first quarter.\nThe company expects operating margin in the March quarter to jump to 25%, from 16.6% a year ago and 14.4% in the fourth quarter.\nLast quarter,Netflix surprised Wall Street with the news that it now expects to be cash flow break-even or better moving forward—and that it has begun considering stock buybacks. Netflix had $1.9 billion in positive free cash flow in 2020, thanks to lower production costs as a result of the pandemic, compared with a $3.3 billion cash flow loss in 2019. For 2021, Netflix expects to break even on a cash flow basis.
