Shares have jumped almost 8% for the week and are on pace for their best week since April.
\n
Investors, rightly so, are wondering what’s going on. We found four reasons, outlined below.
\n
Taking Cues From China
\n
Many electric-vehicle stocks have been on a winning streak lately, beyond just Tesla. Coming into the week, shares of Chinese EV maker NIO(NIO) were up 17% for the month.XPeng(XPEV) and Li Auto(LI) had gained 31% and 36%, respectively.
\n
Tesla, on the other hand, was down for the month of June coming into this week. But China is the world’s largest market for EVs, so when things are going well there, it bodes well for Tesla. It looks like some of the Chinese EV maker stocks’ shine has finally rubbed off on Tesla.
\n
Delivery Optimism
\n
The second reason is about second-quarter deliveries, after perceived weakness in Chinese delivery numbers. More recently, however, several reports have been popping up about Tesla working hard to deliver vehicles into the end of this month.
\n
“After a disaster start to the quarter for Tesla in China, the Street is reading the tea leaves as bullish for the month of June with momentum into [the second half],” Wedbush analyst Dan Ivestells Barron’s. He believes 900,000 deliveries is still possible for 2021. Wall Street is modeling about 825,000. Tesla delivered about 500,000 cars in 2020.
\n
Green Tidal Wave
\n
Ives has also written about a “green tidal wave” coming from the White House. President Joe Biden wants part of any infrastructure bill to include purchase incentives for EVs as well as charging infrastructure. A bill isn’t ready, but progress was made in Washington this week.
\n
Musk Tweeting, Again
\n
No search for the reason behind moves in Tesla stock would be complete without looking at CEO Elon Musk ‘s Twitter (TWTR) feed. He tweeted Friday that the updated full self-driving, or FSD, software and subscription pricing could roll out in as soon as a week.
\n
Tesla plans to offer its highest level of driver assistance, called full self-driving or FSD, on a subscription basis. It’s a new era for car companies, which don’t typically get to realize recurring revenue like software providers. Bulls have been waiting quite some time for the FSD subscription to arrive.
\n
What’s Next
\n
Next up for Tesla investors, after any FSD release, will be second-quarter delivery numbers and then earnings. Those data points come in July.
\n
Year to date, Tesla stock is still down about 4.8%, trailing behind comparable gains of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average.
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Tesla Stock Has Been on Fire This Week. Shares have jumped almost 8% for the week and are on pace for their best week since April.\nInvestors, rightly so, are wondering what’s going on. We found four reasons, outlined below.\nTaking Cues From China\nMany electric-vehicle stocks have been on a winning streak lately, beyond just Tesla. Coming into the week, shares of Chinese EV maker NIO(NIO) were up 17% for the month.XPeng(XPEV) and Li Auto(LI) had gained 31% and 36%, respectively.\nTesla, on the other hand, was down for the month of June coming into this week. But China is the world’s largest market for EVs, so when things are going well there, it bodes well for Tesla. It looks like some of the Chinese EV maker stocks’ shine has finally rubbed off on Tesla.\nDelivery Optimism\nThe second reason is about second-quarter deliveries, after perceived weakness in Chinese delivery numbers. More recently, however, several reports have been popping up about Tesla working hard to deliver vehicles into the end of this month.\n“After a disaster start to the quarter for Tesla in China, the Street is reading the tea leaves as bullish for the month of June with momentum into [the second half],” Wedbush analyst Dan Ivestells Barron’s. He believes 900,000 deliveries is still possible for 2021. Wall Street is modeling about 825,000. Tesla delivered about 500,000 cars in 2020.\nGreen Tidal Wave\nIves has also written about a “green tidal wave” coming from the White House. President Joe Biden wants part of any infrastructure bill to include purchase incentives for EVs as well as charging infrastructure. A bill isn’t ready, but progress was made in Washington this week.\nMusk Tweeting, Again\nNo search for the reason behind moves in Tesla stock would be complete without looking at CEO Elon Musk ‘s Twitter (TWTR) feed. He tweeted Friday that the updated full self-driving, or FSD, software and subscription pricing could roll out in as soon as a week.\nTesla plans to offer its highest level of driver assistance, called full self-driving or FSD, on a subscription basis. It’s a new era for car companies, which don’t typically get to realize recurring revenue like software providers. Bulls have been waiting quite some time for the FSD subscription to arrive.\nWhat’s Next\nNext up for Tesla investors, after any FSD release, will be second-quarter delivery numbers and then earnings. Those data points come in July.\nYear to date, Tesla stock is still down about 4.8%, trailing behind comparable gains of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":182,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9987698522,"gmtCreate":1667880815766,"gmtModify":1676537979048,"author":{"id":"3574937675641587","authorId":"3574937675641587","name":"redmerlion","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/964783c7e1242f8ac0b2c8e59f4b0c32","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574937675641587","authorIdStr":"3574937675641587"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$<v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>","listText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$<v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>","text":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9987698522","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":22,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9989048970,"gmtCreate":1665878586590,"gmtModify":1676537673582,"author":{"id":"3574937675641587","authorId":"3574937675641587","name":"redmerlion","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/964783c7e1242f8ac0b2c8e59f4b0c32","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574937675641587","authorIdStr":"3574937675641587"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$<v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>Reversal time","listText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$<v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>Reversal time","text":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$Reversal time","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9989048970","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":141,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":139355193,"gmtCreate":1621595342712,"gmtModify":1704360253570,"author":{"id":"3574937675641587","authorId":"3574937675641587","name":"redmerlion","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/964783c7e1242f8ac0b2c8e59f4b0c32","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574937675641587","authorIdStr":"3574937675641587"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Tell me your opinion about this news...","listText":"Tell me your opinion about this news...","text":"Tell me your opinion about this news...","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/139355193","repostId":"2136883978","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2136883978","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1621582642,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2136883978?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-21 15:37","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Cathie Wood Goes Bargain Hunting: 3 Stocks She Just Bought","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2136883978","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Things are rough for the kind of growth stocks that the popular fund manager owns, but she's adding to some of her bigger losers now.","content":"
Wednesday's crypto crash and falling prices on former market darlings were a potent one-two combo to get Cathie Wood buying. The negative sentiment that started with Telsa CEO Elon Musk dissing Bitcoin a week ago is generating a spike in trading activity, and that's ultimately good for Coinbase. This will naturally become a bigger problem for Coinbase if crypto doesn't bounce back, but that could also be a mixed blessing if that keeps new competitors away or a trading fee price war from breaking out.

Tesla

Wood apparently didn't take Musk's rant on Bitcoin as an energy hog personally. Tesla is the largest holding across her combined ETFs, and she nabbed a bit more of the electric car maker for three of them on Wednesday.

Tesla stock enters Thursday trading 37% below the all-time high it hit in January. Tesla has become a popular short with so many automakers pushing out electric vehicles, but it seems a bit misguided. None of them will have the proprietary fleet of charging stations that is the equivalent of selling a traditional car and owning every gas station the driver will ever need. Tesla's getting a lot of heat because its \"Full Self Driving\" upgrade isn't exactly full self driving just yet, but what is now a $10,000 digital accessory for new buyers is still well ahead of the competition in the race for autonomous driving. The stock wasn't cheap after last year's run, but the recent sell-off seems overdone at this point given Tesla's pole position in electric vehicles and the aspirational nature of its brand.

Square

Finally, Wood put some more money into a company that knows all about moving money around. Square is a leading payment platform. It's also been an early pioneer in crypto, and that may explain why the shares opened 5% lower on Wednesday before making back more than half of the initial hit by the end of the trading day.

Square has been on a growth tear lately, with sharply accelerating year-over-year top-line growth for five consecutive quarters. Revenue soared 266% in its latest report, a big step up from the 41% growth it was posting six quarters ago. Bitcoin trading through Square's Cash App was a major contributor to the monster quarter, but there's a lot more going for the digital payments platform than just crypto.

Wood isn't afraid to buy on the dip if a company's bullish thesis remains strong.
