Norwegian Cruise Line Companies has a potential stock price target of $37.
\n
Where the industry stands
\n
Cruise line companies remain non-operational in the US based on CDC guidance, but legislative efforts attempt to achieve an earlier reopening, possibly by summer.
\n
Earlier this month, three US senators introduced a new bill seeking to revoke the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Conditional Sail Order on cruises. The aim of the bill: To allow cruise ships to sail to and from US ports again.
\n
The bill was introduced by Republican senators and comes after Florida has sued the CDC to lift its no-sail order. Alaska just joined Florida in suing the CDC. Pressure is mounting on the CDC to lift its cruise ban and allow the reopening of a sector that remains completely closed for business in the US. A sooner-than-expected reopening of the cruise line sector is potentially a catalyst and not priced into valuations of cruise line companies.
\n
Analysts creating catalysts
\n
Earnings revisions to the upside are the clearest indication that the cruise line industry is rising from the ashes, and this comes with serious upside for cruise line stocks.
\n
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings soared 10% after Goldman Sachsre commended NCLH as a “Buy” on Wednesday citing strong pent-up demand, focus on the North American market and a long liquidity runway. The bank raised its stock price target from $27 to $37. The upgrade pulled the entire sector up as well.
\n
More analysts could follow and earnings revisions for FY 2021 and FY 2022 have been increasing in the last 30 days, which reflects a generally improving industry outlook set to brighten even more once the CDC lifts its cruise ban.
\n
(Source: Yahoo)
\n
Stock price targets for NCLH and the other two cruise line companies Carnival (CCL) and Royal Caribbean Group (RCL) have only gone up over the last year, which is the logical consequence when earnings expectations are revised up.
\n
(Source: TipRanks)
\n
Stock price target $37
\n
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings traded between $50 and $60 during most of FY 2019 and earned $4.30-share for FY 2019, meaning it was valued between 11 to 14 times earnings. Once cruises resume and the business runs on full capacity, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings should be able to return to this earnings multiplier factor again, but a $60 or even $50 stock price should not be achievable due to dilution and higher debt.
\n
Whether cruises start in summer or later this year, FY 2021 will not be a good year, but FY 2022 should see a return to a normalized operating income of $1b because pent-up demand should fill up cruise ships quickly. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings had $1.2b in operating income in the FY 2018 and FY 2019 pre-COVID-19 record years.
\n
Short term, the industry is going to produce more losses but sales should recover quickly, so it makes sense to look at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' historical P-S ratio and see what the cruise line company traded at before COVID-19.
\n
NCLH traded at a factor of two or more of future sales in the years before COVID-19, and substantially above two in 2015. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' average P-S ratio over the five year period preceding COVID-19, on an end-quarter basis, was 2.3.
\n
The 2021 spike in Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ P-S ratio in the red box below is due to market expectations that the cruise line company will operate only in the fourth quarter, not the entire year, and therefore the P-S ratio has little value.
\n
If you calculate the P-S ratio based on estimated FY 2022 revenues, which I will do below, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' P-S ratio normalizes again.
\n
(Source: Macrotrends)
\n
Based on FY 2022 estimated revenues, NCLH has a P-S ratio of 1.8 which is lower than the historical valuation. Norwegian Cruise Line Companies has a potential stock price target of $37.\nWhere the industry stands\nCruise line companies remain non-operational in the US based on CDC guidance, but legislative efforts attempt to achieve an earlier reopening, possibly by summer.\nEarlier this month, three US senators introduced a new bill seeking to revoke the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Conditional Sail Order on cruises. The aim of the bill: To allow cruise ships to sail to and from US ports again.\nThe bill was introduced by Republican senators and comes after Florida has sued the CDC to lift its no-sail order. Alaska just joined Florida in suing the CDC. Pressure is mounting on the CDC to lift its cruise ban and allow the reopening of a sector that remains completely closed for business in the US. A sooner-than-expected reopening of the cruise line sector is potentially a catalyst and not priced into valuations of cruise line companies.\nAnalysts creating catalysts\nEarnings revisions to the upside are the clearest indication that the cruise line industry is rising from the ashes, and this comes with serious upside for cruise line stocks.\nNorwegian Cruise Line Holdings soared 10% after Goldman Sachsre commended NCLH as a “Buy” on Wednesday citing strong pent-up demand, focus on the North American market and a long liquidity runway. The bank raised its stock price target from $27 to $37. The upgrade pulled the entire sector up as well.\nMore analysts could follow and earnings revisions for FY 2021 and FY 2022 have been increasing in the last 30 days, which reflects a generally improving industry outlook set to brighten even more once the CDC lifts its cruise ban.\n(Source: Yahoo)\nStock price targets for NCLH and the other two cruise line companies Carnival (CCL) and Royal Caribbean Group (RCL) have only gone up over the last year, which is the logical consequence when earnings expectations are revised up.\n(Source: TipRanks)\nStock price target $37\nNorwegian Cruise Line Holdings traded between $50 and $60 during most of FY 2019 and earned $4.30-share for FY 2019, meaning it was valued between 11 to 14 times earnings. Once cruises resume and the business runs on full capacity, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings should be able to return to this earnings multiplier factor again, but a $60 or even $50 stock price should not be achievable due to dilution and higher debt.\nWhether cruises start in summer or later this year, FY 2021 will not be a good year, but FY 2022 should see a return to a normalized operating income of $1b because pent-up demand should fill up cruise ships quickly. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings had $1.2b in operating income in the FY 2018 and FY 2019 pre-COVID-19 record years.\nShort term, the industry is going to produce more losses but sales should recover quickly, so it makes sense to look at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' historical P-S ratio and see what the cruise line company traded at before COVID-19.\nNCLH traded at a factor of two or more of future sales in the years before COVID-19, and substantially above two in 2015. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' average P-S ratio over the five year period preceding COVID-19, on an end-quarter basis, was 2.3.\nThe 2021 spike in Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ P-S ratio in the red box below is due to market expectations that the cruise line company will operate only in the fourth quarter, not the entire year, and therefore the P-S ratio has little value.\nIf you calculate the P-S ratio based on estimated FY 2022 revenues, which I will do below, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' P-S ratio normalizes again.\n(Source: Macrotrends)\nBased on FY 2022 estimated revenues, NCLH has a P-S ratio of 1.8 which is lower than the historical valuation. If we were to use the 5-year average P-S ratio, 2.3, on Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ expected sales of $6b in FY 2022 - $500m below FY 2019 sales of $6.5b - the calculator shows 26.6% upside, not counting a full revenue recovery to or above FY 2019 levels.\nWith a 26.6% upside, we can calculate a stock price target of $37.35, which is slightly above Goldman Sachs’ stock price target.\nThe revenue estimates and P-S ratios based on FY 2022 for all cruise line companies look like this:\n(Source: Author)\nIf we were to assume that Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings can fully return to its pre-COVID-19 revenues of $6.5b in FY 2022 or FY2023 and apply the historical sales multiplier factor of 2.3 to this revenue level, we get a potential \"best case\" equity value of $40.47.\nThere is no guarantee that Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' stock price will approach $37 or $40, and the sector, despite an improving outlook, faces profound uncertainty, mostly related to its spiraling debt. A new COVID-19 outbreak at sea and a potential extension of the no-sail order would make things considerably worse for the sector.\nBullish trend is restored\nThe Goldman Sachs upgrade and resulting 10% increase in Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ price have restored a bullish chart picture after NCLH dropped below the lower bound trend line this week.\n(Source: FinViz)\nClosing thoughts\nNCLH is a BUY with upside to at least $37. It is unlikely that Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings will ever get back to its $60 or even $50 pre-COVID-19 valuation because it raised so much debt and sold shares which will lower earnings per share, but that doesn’t mean it can’t go a lot higher from here to catch up to its historical valuation standard.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":491,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":376435073,"gmtCreate":1619141023092,"gmtModify":1704720243700,"author":{"id":"3575258337722148","authorId":"3575258337722148","name":"Xxgwxx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/477d0c1db49d90a28cc1fd9b01b89200","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575258337722148","authorIdStr":"3575258337722148"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Finally! In comparison, Tesla’s Model 3 in China starts at 249,900 yuan.Wu said the P5 would roll out to customers in China in the third or fourth quarter of this year. Xpeng has also expanded into Norway, its first international market. Wu said that the company will expand its footprint in northern Europe and the P5 would eventually be launched there. He gave no timelines on when this might happen.Driverless techXpeng has tried to push the advancement of its self-driving features to differentiate from its competitors. The P5 is equipped with so-called Lidar, or Light Detection and Ranging technology. Lidar systems send out lasers that bounce back and can measure distance. Those returning beams are processed by an algorithm to create a three dimensional representation of surrounding objects — a key technology for autonomous vehicles to understand their environment.Xpeng claims that Lidar can help the P5 distinguish pedestrians, cyclists and scooters as well as road works — even at night and under low-light conditions. On Wednesday, the Chinese vehicle maker also released a new version ofXPILOT, its so-called advanced driver-assistancesystem (ADAS). This refers to a system with some autonomous features but where a driver is still required.XPILOT 3.5 will have an updated version of afeature called Navigation Guided Pilot or NGP, which allows users to autonomously do tasks such as changing lanes or overtaking cars. Some of these features will work on city roads for the first time. Previously, NGP was just designed for highways.Xpeng’s XPILOT is an attempt to compete with Tesla’s own ADAS system called Autopilot as well as other rivals like Nio with its Nio Pilot.“In P7 we launched NGP … only on highways. But highway driving only occupies like 10% of peoples’ driving time. Being able to bring the technology and the capability to cities is very important to make the feature more usable and more compelling to Chinese customers,” Wu said.In the city, Wu said the situation was becoming “exponentially” more difficult, citing challenges in ensuring the car can recognize objects in its path accurately and reliably. “We believe with Lidar … it will help us achieve our goal much faster and gives us an edge against our competitors.”Competition heating upChina’s electric car market is expected to pick up this year with 1.9 million units expected to be sold, growing 51% year-on-year, according research firm Canalys.Various incentives from the government, such as subsidies, have helped China become the biggest electric car market in the world. With that, a number of start-ups have grown rapidly such as Xpeng, Nio and Li Auto. But these players are competing against traditional automakers who are boosting their electric vehicle capabilities as well as other technology firms entering into the fray.Chinese search giantBaiduteamed up with Geely to create astandalone electric car company, while smartphone giantXiaomiannounced plans tolaunch an electric car business.Last year, Xpeng delivered 27,041 vehicles, more than doubling from 2019. In comparison, Tesla’s Model 3 alone sold more than 137,000 units in 2020 in China.Wu said Xpeng has developed a lot of technology which he believes gives the company an edge.“We are definitely a step, a few steps ahead, you know as compared to most of our competitors. So we are pretty confident that we can win this race even with more newcomers into this space,” Wu told CNBC.“We believe that with this kind of focus on the Chinese market, Chinese customers, Chinese road conditions and also the different technologies we bring together to make the tech better fitted to China market, I think we do have an edge as compared to Tesla in the China market.”Xpeng rose about 2% in premarket trading.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":377,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":344295149,"gmtCreate":1618409170381,"gmtModify":1704710402581,"author":{"id":"3575258337722148","authorId":"3575258337722148","name":"Xxgwxx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/477d0c1db49d90a28cc1fd9b01b89200","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575258337722148","authorIdStr":"3575258337722148"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment ","listText":"Like and comment ","text":"Like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/344295149","repostId":"1191835075","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1191835075","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1618405277,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1191835075?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-14 21:01","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Apple could discontinue iPhone Mini size after 2021 lineup","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1191835075","media":"seekingalpha","summary":"Noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuosaysthe 2021 iPhone lineup will still include a 5.4-inch model but t","content":"
Noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuosaysthe 2021 iPhone lineup will still include a 5.4-inch model but the Minimodel will likely be left out of future iPhone lineups. At the top end of the spectrum, Coinbase would be bigger than a number of U.S. exchanges, including ICE, Nasdaq, CME Group $(CME)$ and Cboe Global Markets $(CBOE)$.David Trainer, CEO of New Constructs, an investment research firm, said the crypto platform's value is ridiculously high. \"Even though Coinbase's revenue surged over the past 12 months, the company has little-to-no-chance of meeting the future profit expectations that are baked into its ridiculously high expected valuation of $100 billion,\" he said.\"Coinbase's expected valuation of $100 billion implies that its revenue will be 1.5x the combined 2020 revenues of two of the most established exchanges in the marketplace, Nasdaq Inc. $(NDAQ)$ and Intercontinental Exchange $(ICE)$, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange,\" he said.Trainer said that based on his calculation, Coinbase's valuation should be closer to $18.9 billion--an 81% decrease from the $100 billion expected valuation.'Not for the faint of heart'MoffettNathanson analyst Lisa Ellis explained to MarketWatch why the offering is, as she describes it \"not for the faint of heart,\" but why she initiated coverage of the exchange at a buy with a price-target of $600, even before it sees its first trade on the Nasdaq.\"I'm super super bullish on Coinbase...because you get the sense that they are a market leader in the space and crypto agnostic,\" she said. That said, she acknowledges that currently 90% of Coinbase's revenues are derived directly from retail trading, with most in the U.S. and trading centered primarily on the two largest cryptos: bitcoin and Ether on the ethereum blockchain.\"So the implications is that Coinbase's revenues are correlated with the level of activity in cryto currency and especially bitcoin and ether.\"Ellis says investors need to have at least a one-year long-term investment strategy in bitcoin, which could still go to zero by some bearish accounts, but a three-year outlook is even better, because the crypto complex has tended to operate in three-year cycles of boom and then bust.Validation for crypto or a top? Some bulls see Coinbase as validation for the nascent crpyto industry.Alex Mashinsky, head of crypto-lending and trading platform Celsius Network, put it this way:\"We look at the Coinbase listing as an additional validation of the space, and a major PR opportunity for the entire industry to shine as the future of finance,\" he told MarketWatch via email.\"Coinbase has more users and more revenues than many of the largest Wall Street players and is more profitable than any major exchange, and this validation puts most skeptics at a crossroads having to re-evaluate their denial and frustration with the disruption coming at them from all sides.\"Others suggest that it may prove a new top for the market and put crypto prices under pressure after a precipitous rally in recent days and a fresh record for bitcoin.Yves Lamoureux, the president of Montreal-based macroeconomic research firm Lamoureux & Co., told MarketWatch that he is fearful that too much euphoria surrounds bitcoin and crypto and sees it due for a retrenchment as a result. \"Can you find out-there anyone with a bearish viewpoint?\" he asked. \"A resounding no,\" said Lamoureux. Is Coinbase the largest crypto exchange?Coinbase is the second-largest crypto platform, but the largest in the U.S., by volume. The title of largest goes to Binance, which sees $47 billion in crypto trading volume in a 24-hour period, according to CoinMarketCap.com .Who else owns Coinbase?Venture-capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, is the largest owner of Coinbase, boasting about 25% of Class A shares and 14%% of Class B. And Marc Andreessen, head of the venture capital outfit, sits on Coinbase's board.Other factsFor those aiming for an even deeper dive into Coinbase, check out MarketWatch's 5 things to know about the company.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":532,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":344291838,"gmtCreate":1618409065824,"gmtModify":1704710398219,"author":{"id":"3575258337722148","authorId":"3575258337722148","name":"Xxgwxx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/477d0c1db49d90a28cc1fd9b01b89200","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575258337722148","authorIdStr":"3575258337722148"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$Is it finally back on track??
Photographer: Tiffany Hagler-Geard/Bloomberg

Coinbase is the talk of Wall Street, as the largest crypto platform in the U.S. gears up for its public debut on a traditional exchange Wednesday, through a direct listing.

There is no doubt that the public offering of Coinbase is a big deal in the world of crypto. The company was created just over a decade ago with the genesis of bitcoin and is now in the midst of a moment that many in the industry have described as a tipping point .

There are few ways to get direct ownership of crypto currencies, outside of buying them directly, a service that Coinbase provides for a fee, and what investors appear willing to be pay up for.

Leeor Shimron, analyst at FundStrat Global Advisors, described the Coinbase listing as seminal. \"Coinbase's direct listing is a watershed moment for the crypto industry.\"

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives said the listing is a reflection of the crypto's mainstream evolution.

\"Coinbase is a foundational piece of the crypto ecosystem and is a barometer for the growing mainstream adoption of Bitcoin and crypto for the coming years in our opinion,\" he wrote in a research note Tuesday.

Some caution that the implied valuations for Coinbase as a crypto exchange are too lofty , the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange.

In a direct listing, a company floats its shares on a stock exchange, but without hiring banks to underwrite the transaction, like in an IPO.

Here's what you need to know about the coming offering.

What is Coinbase?

The Silicon Valley crypto exchange was co-founded in 2012 by Brian Armstrong, 38, who runs the platform as chief executive. Photographer: Tiffany Hagler-Geard/BloombergCoinbase is the talk of Wall Street, as the largest crypto platform in the U.S. gears up for its public debut on a traditional exchange Wednesday, through a direct listing. There is no doubt that the public offering of Coinbase is a big deal in the world of crypto. The company was created just over a decade ago with the genesis of bitcoin and is now in the midst of a moment that many in the industry have described as a tipping point .There are few ways to get direct ownership of crypto currencies, outside of buying them directly, a service that Coinbase provides for a fee, and what investors appear willing to be pay up for.Leeor Shimron, analyst at FundStrat Global Advisors, described the Coinbase listing as seminal. \"Coinbase's direct listing is a watershed moment for the crypto industry.\"Wedbush analyst Dan Ives said the listing is a reflection of the crypto's mainstream evolution.\"Coinbase is a foundational piece of the crypto ecosystem and is a barometer for the growing mainstream adoption of Bitcoin and crypto for the coming years in our opinion,\" he wrote in a research note Tuesday. Some caution that the implied valuations for Coinbase as a crypto exchange are too lofty , the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange. In a direct listing, a company floats its shares on a stock exchange, but without hiring banks to underwrite the transaction, like in an IPO.Here's what you need to know about the coming offering. What is Coinbase? The Silicon Valley crypto exchange was co-founded in 2012 by Brian Armstrong, 38, who runs the platform as chief executive. Fred Ehrsam, a Coinbase director, also helped to create the company.According to Forbes , Armstrong's networth is currently $6.5 billion based on his ownership in the company and his wealth is likely to increase if the direct listing goes off successfully. When will Coinbase go public?Coinbase will list on April 14.
