Bahamas","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1162956047","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Scope of inquiry includes transfers around time of bankruptcyIt’s part of broad effort by prosecutor","content":"

Scope of inquiry includes transfers around time of bankruptcy

It’s part of broad effort by prosecutors to track client funds

US prosecutors, laying the groundwork for a potential fraud case against Sam Bankman-Fried and others involved in the collapse of cryptocurrency giant FTX, are scrutinizing how funds held by the exchange operator moved outside the US as it was hurtling toward bankruptcy, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Prosecutors are closely examining whether hundreds of millions of dollars were improperly transferred to the Bahamas around the time of FTX’s Nov. 11 bankruptcy filing in Delaware, the person said, asking not to be named without authorization to discuss the case publicly.

As Justice Department officials embark on a sweeping investigation into how FTX handled customers’ cash and assets, they met this week with FTX’s court-appointed overseers to discuss materials they aim to gather, the person said. They’re also digging into whether FTX broke the law by transferring funds to Alameda Research, the bankrupt investment firm also founded by Bankman-Fried, an area of inquiry that has been reported previously.

Bankman-Fried, who’s in the Bahamas and hasn’t been charged with any crimes, has admitted to grievous managerial errors at FTX but steadfastly denied that he ever knowingly misused customers’ funds. A spokesperson for Bankman-Fried declined to comment on Friday.

The New York Times reported this week that federal prosecutors are also examining whether Bankman-Fried engaged in market manipulation by orchestrating trades that led to the collapse of the TerraUSD ecosystem earlier this year.

Prosecutors in the Southern District of New York, including Assistant US Attorney Nicolas Roos, met for about two hours this week in a conference room in lower Manhattan with dozens of people investigating FTX’s collapse. Potential charges were not discussed at the organizational meeting. A spokesperson for the Southern District declined to comment.

John Ray arrives at bankruptcy court in Wilmington, Delaware, on Nov. 22.Photographer: Sarah Silbiger/Bloomberg

The meeting included officials from that office and the Justice Department in Washington, agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the bankruptcy team led by John J. Ray III, who was appointed FTX’s chief executive officer last month. Lawyers for FTX from Sullivan & Cromwell, including former Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement director Steve Peikin and former Manhattan federal prosecutor Nicole Friedlander, were also present, the people said.

Roos helped prosecute Nikola Corp. founder Trevor Milton, who was convicted in October of misleading investors in the electric truck company.

Bankman-Fried has given a series of media interviews in the past month describing accounting mistakes that obscured the extent of FTX’s ties with Alameda and the risks that created. On Friday, he said on Twitter that he’s willing to testify at a Dec. 13 hearing before the US House Financial Services Committee about the disintegration of his crypto empire.

Bahamas-based FTX and more than 100 related entities, including the company’s US arm, sent shock waves across the crypto ecosystem with their bankruptcy filing last month. The group and its founder now face scrutiny from regulators and prosecutors in the US and overseas.

","source":"lsy1584095487587","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; They’re also digging into whether FTX broke the law by transferring funds to Alameda Research, the bankrupt investment firm also founded by Bankman-Fried, an area of inquiry that has been reported previously.Bankman-Fried, who’s in the Bahamas and hasn’t been charged with any crimes, has admitted to grievous managerial errors at FTX but steadfastly denied that he ever knowingly misused customers’ funds. A spokesperson for Bankman-Fried declined to comment on Friday. The New York Times reported this week that federal prosecutors are also examining whether Bankman-Fried engaged in market manipulation by orchestrating trades that led to the collapse of the TerraUSD ecosystem earlier this year.Prosecutors in the Southern District of New York, including Assistant US Attorney Nicolas Roos, met for about two hours this week in a conference room in lower Manhattan with dozens of people investigating FTX’s collapse. Potential charges were not discussed at the organizational meeting. Ray III, who was appointed FTX’s chief executive officer last month. Lawyers for FTX from Sullivan & Cromwell, including former Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement director Steve Peikin and former Manhattan federal prosecutor Nicole Friedlander, were also present, the people said.Roos helped prosecute Nikola Corp. founder Trevor Milton, who was convicted in October of misleading investors in the electric truck company.Bankman-Fried has given a series of media interviews in the past month describing accounting mistakes that obscured the extent of FTX’s ties with Alameda and the risks that created. On Friday, he said on Twitter that he’s willing to testify at a Dec. 13 hearing before the US House Financial Services Committee about the disintegration of his crypto empire.Bahamas-based FTX and more than 100 related entities, including the company’s US arm, sent shock waves across the crypto ecosystem with their bankruptcy filing last month. The group and its founder now face scrutiny from regulators and prosecutors in the US and overseas.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":668,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9929115456,"gmtCreate":1670626213475,"gmtModify":1676538405976,"author":{"id":"3575373895880782","authorId":"3575373895880782","name":"MinisterZY","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/c1e7239768bfe14a1df4e09cf41c8762","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575373895880782","authorIdStr":"3575373895880782"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust(SPY)$ <v-v data-views=\"0\"></v-v>","listText":"$SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust(SPY)$ <v-v data-views=\"0\"></v-v>","text":"$SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust(SPY)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9929115456","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":369,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9929024399,"gmtCreate":1670567518511,"gmtModify":1676538395677,"author":{"id":"3575373895880782","authorId":"3575373895880782","name":"MinisterZY","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/c1e7239768bfe14a1df4e09cf41c8762","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575373895880782","authorIdStr":"3575373895880782"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hsp's","listText":"Hsp's","text":"Hsp's","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9929024399","repostId":"9929026492","repostType":1,"repost":{"id":9929026492,"gmtCreate":1670566920616,"gmtModify":1676538395601,"author":{"id":"3582022994702843","authorId":"3582022994702843","name":"Shop","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d361fd3c4c5677fff3957e6d430ecb52","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582022994702843","authorIdStr":"3582022994702843"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Lululemon on Thursday reported sales and profit that topped estimates, but the company offered softer guidance than expected for the fourth quarter. In other words, volatility is unavoidable. At times, great companies may lose a significant portion of their value, and not-so-great companies may achieve absurd valuations, but time is the great equalizer. As years pass, the great companies will outperform their peers.

Given the recent market volatility, I think that quote is particularly timely. It serves as a reminder to look beyond the here and now, and invest your money in high-quality stocks that you plan to hold for years or even decades. Doing so helps eliminate the impact of short-term volatility, and it gives your investment thesis plenty of time to play out.

Building on that idea, I think DigitalOcean(NYSE:DOCN)and MongoDB(NASDAQ:MDB)could grow fourfold in the next decade, a pace that would turn$250,000 into $1 million. Here's what you should know.

1. DigitalOcean

DigitalOcean specializes in cloud computing. Whereas tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon tailor their products to the needs of large enterprises, DigitalOcean focuses on small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and individual developers. More specifically, the company focuses on simplicity. Its click-and-go interface makes it possible to provision cloud services within minutes, without any specialized training.

The company also provides 24/7 technical support, an extensive library of tutorials, and performance monitoring tools free of charge. Collectively, its cloud platform helps clients build and scale applications quickly, while eliminating the need to invest in costly on-site hardware. And that value proposition has translated into strong demand.

In the third quarter, DigitalOcean grew its customer base 7% to 598,000, and the average customer spent 16% more with the company. That compounding dynamic helped DigitalOcean report revenue of $111.4 million in the quarter, up 37% year over year. And while MongoDB posted negative cash from operations of $5.8 million during the period, that figure marks an improvement over the prior year. At times, great companies may lose a significant portion of their value, and not-so-great companies may achieve absurd valuations, but time is the great equalizer. As years pass, the great companies will outperform their peers.Given the recent market volatility, I think that quote is particularly timely. It serves as a reminder to look beyond the here and now, and invest your money in high-quality stocks that you plan to hold for years or even decades. Doing so helps eliminate the impact of short-term volatility, and it gives your investment thesis plenty of time to play out.Building on that idea, I think DigitalOcean(NYSE:DOCN)and MongoDB(NASDAQ:MDB)could grow fourfold in the next decade, a pace that would turn$250,000 into $1 million. Here's what you should know.1. DigitalOceanDigitalOcean specializes in cloud computing. And cash from operations surged 73% to $40.3 million, meaning DigitalOcean is making enough money to pay the bills.Currently, there are 100 million SMBs in the world, and 14 million new businesses are started each year. To that end, management estimates its addressable market will reach $116 billion by 2024.
