Of those, 86.8% have beaten consensus estimates, according to Refinitiv IBES.

Declining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by a 6.05-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 3.84-to-1 ratio favored decliners.

The S&P 500 posted nine new 52-week highs and no new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 34 new highs and 118 new lows.

Volume on U.S. exchanges was 11.82 billion shares, compared with the 10.44 billion average over the last 20 trading days.

Financial Report

AppLovin stock wobbles following first public quarterly results

Wish stock plunges after earnings, is more than half off the IPO price

Poshmark Q1 sales rise 42%, but stock tanks after hours
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Both shares fell.

Investors welcomed data showing the number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits last week dropped to a fresh one-year low. The Labor Department report suggested layoffs were subsiding and expectations were rising for another month of blockbuster job growth in April.

The speedy U.S. vaccination rollout has improved the economic outlook as people plan summer vacations and leisure spending, but a surge in COVID-19 cases in India and elsewhere in Asia has kept investors anxious, Hayes said.

Equities have likely reached a near-term top as expectations are too high, said Randy Frederick, vice president of trading and derivatives at Charles Schwab.

\"There's going to be continued positive moves throughout the remainder of the year but we are due for some sort of a pullback in the very short term,\" he said. \"Then the dip buyers will step back in.\"

First-quarter earnings are expected to increase 31.9% from a year ago, the highest rate since the fourth quarter, according to IBES Refinitiv data.

All 11 S&P 500 sectors closed lower as Microsoft, Apple Inc , Amazon.com Inc and Tesla Inc weighted the most on the downdraft.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.94% to 33,815.9, the S&P 500 lost 0.92% at 4,134.98, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.94% to 13,818.41.

Volume on U.S. exchanges was 10.35 billion shares, compared with the 10.32 billion full-session average over the last 20 trading days.

Chipmaker Intel Corp forecast second-quarter revenue above Wall Street targets, betting its next generation of processors for data centers and PCs will meet growing demand for cloud-based services. Shares slipped about 1% in after-hours trade.

AT&T Inc beat Wall Street revenue targets as the U.S. economic reopening following pandemic-linked restrictions boosted smartphone sales and the media business. AT&T shares rose 4.2%.

Biogen Inc beat quarterly profit estimates on stronger-than-expected sales for its muscle wasting disorder drug, though concerns over its reliance on its yet-to-be approved Alzheimer's therapy, aducanumab, weighed on shares. Biogen shares fell 4.0%.

Declining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by a 1.57-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.04-to-1 ratio favored decliners.

The S&P 500 posted 84 new 52-week highs and no new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 86 new highs and 20 new lows. Republican Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana last month introduced a bill aimed at boosting transparency for investors in SPACs.\nSPACs are shell companies that raise money via a listing to acquire a private company with the purpose of taking it public, sidestepping a traditional initial public offering $(IPO.UK)$ process. Critics say banks and SPAC sponsors have reaped big payoffs at a cost to later-stage investors.\nMonday's hearing in a House Financial Services subcommittee is aimed at SPACs, direct listings and IPOs, according to a hearing notice published on May 19. The House is considering legislation that would redefine \"blank check company\" from a key 1995 law to include special purpose acquisition companies, according to the notice.\nThe law created a safe harbor that protects listed companies from shareholder litigation provided forward-looking statements are made in good faith, identified as such and couched in cautionary language.\nThe safe harbor does not protect IPOs or certain blank check companies, but sponsors have generally operated on the basis that it does apply to SPAC deals, and have leaned on it heavily to issue growth projections. A key inflation indicator, the core personal consumption expenditures index, rose 3.1% in April from a year earlier, faster than the forecast 2.9% increase. Central bank chief Jerome Powell said the rising costs should be transitory, but market participants are looking for any clues about how to play even the temporary change in prices.\nGoldman looked at periods of higher inflation since 1962 and found the median monthly market return has been 2% annualized in phases when inflation was high and rising compared with a 15% gain when inflation was high and falling.\nPlus, stocks returned an annualized 4% when inflation was low and rising and a whopping 19% when inflation was low and falling, Goldman said. Overall, when inflation was high, stocks returned 9% and when inflation was low, stocks gained 15%, according to Goldman.\nThe Wall Street firm categorized the periods of inflation by comparing year-over-year core Consumer Price Indexes with the Federal Reserve’s estimate of consensus long-term inflation expectations.\nHow to play it\nGiven the historic inflation data, Goldman also told clients the best way to play the periods of rising costs.\n“Within the market, periods of high inflation have corresponded with the outperformance of the Health Care, Energy, Real Estate, and Consumer Staples sectors,” said Kostin.\nMaterials and technology stocks have fared the worst during inflationary regimes, the firm said.\nGoldman also told clients a good way to trade higher inflation is to own stocks with high and stable gross margins. Gross margin is the sales revenue a company is left over with after the costs associated with producing the goods are subtracted. In other words, these companies have pricing power.\nTake a look at Goldman’s list of stocks with high and stable gross margins.\nNames such as Adobe, Aspen Technology, Activision Blizzard, Etsy and Williams Companies made it on Goldman’s list.\nZoetis, Philip Morris International, IHS Markit, Under Armour and PPG Industries also earned spots on Goldman’s list.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":64,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":112950088,"gmtCreate":1622847825644,"gmtModify":1704192217497,"author":{"id":"3576136439050386","authorId":"3576136439050386","name":"MKSoh","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/ce24ff5f2c5b5ece827e6cade3865d87","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576136439050386","authorIdStr":"3576136439050386"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Very stable","listText":"Very stable","text":"Very stable","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0040a7e860821ed97d799f45606de559","width":"1080","height":"1950"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/112950088","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":60,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":138014393,"gmtCreate":1621901017812,"gmtModify":1704364001952,"author":{"id":"3576136439050386","authorId":"3576136439050386","name":"MKSoh","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/ce24ff5f2c5b5ece827e6cade3865d87","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576136439050386","authorIdStr":"3576136439050386"},"themes":[],"htmlText":" loolook like US is recovery soon","listText":" loolook like US is recovery soon","text":"loolook like US is recovery soon","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/138014393","repostId":"2138159407","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2138159407","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1621886425,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2138159407?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-25 04:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Wall Street climbs on tech gains as U.S. Treasury yields dip","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2138159407","media":"Reuters","summary":"Bitcoin bounces after weekend selling\nFed's preferred inflation gauge set for Thursday\nCabot, Cimare","content":"
\n
Bitcoin bounces after weekend selling
\n
Fed's preferred inflation gauge set for Thursday
\n
Cabot, Cimarex to merge, create $17 bln oil & gas producer
\n
\n
NEW YORK, May 24 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks climbed on Monday, with both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq jumping more than 1% as a retreat in U.S. Treasury yields helped lift expensive stocks in sectors such as technology as investors attempt to gauge the path of inflation.
\n
Among the 11 major S&P sectors, technology advanced about 2% as the best performing on the session, as yields on the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond hit a two-week low, which also buoyed other richly-valued growth stocks.
\n
Inflation concerns cooled for the time being as investors may be starting to view President's Joe Biden's infrastructure bill as likely to be smaller, or unable to provide as big an economic boost, even after being pared down in size on Friday.
\n
Bill Stone, chief investment officer, The Glenview Trust co in Louisville, Kentucky said growth stocks were likely getting a look on Monday due to the decline in yields.
\n
\"It seems to be the continued bounce in a rotation back to growth, the top performing sectors today are all growth stocks,\" \"It's the continuing tug of war\" he said.
\n
Unofficially, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 178.6 points, or 0.52%, to 34,386.44, the S&P 500 gained 40.37 points, or 0.97%, to 4,196.23 and the Nasdaq Composite added 185.44 points, or 1.38%, to 13,656.44.
\n
Tech giants Apple and Microsoft , each up about 2% on the day, were the biggest boosts to the benchmark S&P index. The U.S. consumer price index rose 0.8% in April, with higher gasoline prices playing a major role in the boost. That sent stock traders scurrying for cover once again. As of 10:45 a.m. EDT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average(DJINDICES:^DJI)was down 276 points to 33,993. The S&P 500(SNPINDEX:^GSPC)dropped 41 points to 4,110, and the Nasdaq Composite(NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC)gave up another 227 points to 13,163.

However, even on the worst down days, there are always some stocks that manage to shine. Today, fuboTV(NYSE:FUBO)was a big winner after the connected television specialist reported a strong quarter of performance. Elsewhere,Occidental Petroleum(NYSE:OXY)led the way higher for a group of stocks benefiting from the news on inflation.

A great show for fuboTV

Shares of fuboTV were up 12% on Wednesday morning. The live TV streaming company posted impressive results that gave investors more confidence in its long-term prospects.

The growth that fuboTV had was strong. Revenue soared 135% in the first quarter to nearly $120 million. The company more than doubled its subscriber count year over year to 590,000. Advertising revenue tripled from where it was just 12 months ago.

Yet fuboTV doesn't think its growth is going to go away anytime soon. The company pointed to 78 million households that are still using old-style legacy cable and pay television services, and it believes that those customers are ripe for the taking. By the end of 2021, fuboTV anticipates roping in another 240,000 to 260,000 subscribers, with revenue run rates likely to grow slightly from current levels.

Streaming video has been a disruptive force in entertainment, and television is just the latest area in which companies are seeing massive change. So far, fuboTV has taken full advantage of that transformation, and shareholders are reaping the rewards today.

An energetic day

Meanwhile, Occidental Petroleum saw its shares climb almost 7% Wednesday morning. That led a group of oil and gas companies higher, with some smaller players in the oilfield services and refinery business seeing even larger percentage moves in some cases.

The fundamentals for the energy industry in general have gotten a lot better recently, and today continued some of those positive trends. The U.S. consumer price index rose 0.8% in April, with higher gasoline prices playing a major role in the boost. That sent stock traders scurrying for cover once again. As of 10:45 a.m. EDT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average(DJINDICES:^DJI)was down 276 points to 33,993. The S&P 500(SNPINDEX:^GSPC)dropped 41 points to 4,110, and the Nasdaq Composite(NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC)gave up another 227 points to 13,163.However, even on the worst down days, there are always some stocks that manage to shine. Today,fuboTV(NYSE:FUBO)was a big winner after the connected television specialist reported a strong quarter of performance. Elsewhere,Occidental Petroleum(NYSE:OXY)led the way higher for a group of stocks benefiting from the news on inflation.A great show for fuboTVShares of fuboTV were up 12% on Wednesday morning. The live TV streaming company posted impressive results that gave investors more confidence in its long-term prospects.The growth that fuboTV had was strong. Revenue soared 135% in the first quarter to nearly $120 million. The company more than doubled its subscriber count year over year to 590,000. Advertising revenue tripled from where it was just 12 months ago.Yet fuboTV doesn't think its growth is going to go away anytime soon. The company pointed to 78 million households that are still using old-style legacy cable and pay television services, and it believes that those customers are ripe for the taking. By the end of 2021, fuboTV anticipates roping in another 240,000 to 260,000 subscribers, with revenue run rates likely to grow slightly from current levels.Streaming video has been a disruptive force in entertainment, and television is just the latest area in which companies are seeing massive change. So far, fuboTV has taken full advantage of that transformation, and shareholders are reaping the rewards today.An energetic dayMeanwhile, Occidental Petroleum saw its shares climb almost 7% Wednesday morning. That led a group of oil and gas companies higher, with some smaller players in the oilfield services and refinery business seeing even larger percentage moves in some cases.The fundamentals for the energy industry in general have gotten a lot better recently, and today continued some of those positive trends. Crude oil prices climbed more than $1 per barrel to $66, moving further into territory at which many producers are able to take oil out of the ground profitably.Meanwhile, the closure of the Colonial Pipeline has led to widespread gasoline shortages and even complete outages across much of the southeastern U.S., running from Virginia and Tennessee south to Florida. Although those impacts won't necessarily have any long-term impact on Occidental or other players in the energy industry, they nevertheless highlight how rising demand from the economic recovery has the capacity to exacerbate any unexpected events.Occidental's earnings reporton Tuesday morning showed positive cash flow but continuing weakness in production volumes and ongoing losses. However, if oil prices stay where they are or climb higher, it could finally get Occidental's business moving more sustainably in the right direction.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":194,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3578611232288599","authorId":"3578611232288599","name":"loongloong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9f66af366c7a0ae3258e21982c5ddc20","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3578611232288599","authorIdStr":"3578611232288599"},"content":"all looser except 2 winners","text":"all looser except 2 winners","html":"all looser except 2 winners"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9081339004,"gmtCreate":1650193879739,"gmtModify":1676534666563,"author":{"id":"3576136439050386","authorId":"3576136439050386","name":"MKSoh","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/ce24ff5f2c5b5ece827e6cade3865d87","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576136439050386","authorIdStr":"3576136439050386"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SEMBCORP MARINE LTD(S51.SI)$[Speechless] ","listText":"$SEMBCORP MARINE LTD(S51.SI)$[Speechless] ","text":"$SEMBCORP MARINE LTD(S51.SI)$[Speechless]","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/a0cc7023363fec316a4b6dbe6194ffed","width":"1080","height":"3039"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9081339004","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":71,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
