Here's What Matters Most.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1151724613","media":"Barrons","summary":"Tesla is set to report second-quarter earnings Monday. Get ready for a very complicated report.\nThe ","content":"
Tesla is set to report second-quarter earnings Monday. Get ready for a very complicated report.
\n
The EV pioneer will report after the close of trading on Monday, July 26. Wall Street is looking for Tesla (ticker: TSLA) to report about 94 cents in per-share earnings from $11.5 billion in sales, according to FactSet. Beating analyst estimates is important, almost required, for any stock to remain stable in post-earnings trading. That’s true for Tesla as well.
\n
There will be a lot of moving parts, however, even more than usual for the world’s most valuable car company and its iconoclast CEO Elon Musk.
\n
Factors that will contribute to bottom-line earnings include the global semiconductor shortage, vehicle pricing, vehicle gross profit margins, and the level of profitability in Tesla’s battery storage business. In the end, however, investors will want to see a record in operating profits—no matter how it happens. That’s what could break shares out of their recent range.
\n

\n
Tesla reported more than $800 million in operating profits in the 2020 third quarter, and the stock more than doubled to around $860 in the three-month span that followed. But since operating profit growth largely paused in the subsequent quarters, shares have traded down from roughly $860 to around $640 recently. Profit stagnation has meant stock stagnation, too.
\n
The good news for Tesla bulls is Wall Street is projecting a fresh record: Operating profit is expected to be $835 million for the second quarter, driven by strong deliveries. The 2021 second quarter marked the first time Tesla delivered more than 200,000 vehicles in a single quarter.
\n
After earnings are digested, there should be endless arguments among bulls and bears about the quality of earnings. For instance, one way Tesla generates sales is by selling regulatory credits—which it earns by producing more than its fair share of electric vehicles. The company generated $518 million in first-quarter credit sales, which helped Tesla beat earnings estimates. There is always debate about what is the “normal” amount of credit sales and when will those sales dry up. Eventually, both the bulls and bears expect other auto makers to sell their own EVs, cutting off that source of revenue for Tesla.
\n
There is also the issue of Bitcoin. Tesla recognized a small gain on its Bitcoin holdings in the first quarter, but the cryptocurrency’s prices have fallen by roughly half since their April peak. That means there is a chance of a small loss. How investors react is anyone’s guess, but don’t expect Tesla to sell out of its Bitcoin position. Musk continues to indicate his company will transact in the cryptocurrency when Bitcoin mining uses more sustainable power.
\n
Investors will also want to know when Tesla’s new Germany plant and Austin, Texas facility will start delivering cars. The Austin plant will build Tesla’s Cybertruck. There will also likely be questions about advances in Tesla’s driver-assistance functions—the company recently started selling its driver-assistance software as a subscription—and how much money the company could make from its charging network. Musk tweeted this week Tesla would open its charging network to other EVs down the road.
\n
Those topics and more should be discussed on the earnings conference call scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Year to date, Tesla stock is down roughly 9%, trailing behind comparable 17% and 15% respective gains of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average.Still, Tesla shares have had a strong run, up about 112% over the past 12 months.
\n

","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Tesla Reports Earnings Today. Get ready for a very complicated report.\nThe EV pioneer will report after the close of trading on Monday, July 26. Wall Street is looking for Tesla (ticker: TSLA) to report about 94 cents in per-share earnings from $11.5 billion in sales, according to FactSet. Beating analyst estimates is important, almost required, for any stock to remain stable in post-earnings trading. That’s true for Tesla as well.\nThere will be a lot of moving parts, however, even more than usual for the world’s most valuable car company and its iconoclast CEO Elon Musk.\nFactors that will contribute to bottom-line earnings include the global semiconductor shortage, vehicle pricing, vehicle gross profit margins, and the level of profitability in Tesla’s battery storage business. In the end, however, investors will want to see a record in operating profits—no matter how it happens. That’s what could break shares out of their recent range.\n\nTesla reported more than $800 million in operating profits in the 2020 third quarter, and the stock more than doubled to around $860 in the three-month span that followed. But since operating profit growth largely paused in the subsequent quarters, shares have traded down from roughly $860 to around $640 recently. Profit stagnation has meant stock stagnation, too.\nThe good news for Tesla bulls is Wall Street is projecting a fresh record: Operating profit is expected to be $835 million for the second quarter, driven by strong deliveries. The 2021 second quarter marked the first time Tesla delivered more than 200,000 vehicles in a single quarter.\nAfter earnings are digested, there should be endless arguments among bulls and bears about the quality of earnings. Eventually, both the bulls and bears expect other auto makers to sell their own EVs, cutting off that source of revenue for Tesla.\nThere is also the issue of Bitcoin. Musk continues to indicate his company will transact in the cryptocurrency when Bitcoin mining uses more sustainable power.\nInvestors will also want to know when Tesla’s new Germany plant and Austin, Texas facility will start delivering cars. The Austin plant will build Tesla’s Cybertruck. There will also likely be questions about advances in Tesla’s driver-assistance functions—the company recently started selling its driver-assistance software as a subscription—and how much money the company could make from its charging network. Musk tweeted this week Tesla would open its charging network to other EVs down the road.\nThose topics and more should be discussed on the earnings conference call scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Year to date, Tesla stock is down roughly 9%, trailing behind comparable 17% and 15% respective gains of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average.Still, Tesla shares have had a strong run, up about 112% over the past 12 months.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2324,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":147390964,"gmtCreate":1626332398258,"gmtModify":1703758060613,"author":{"id":"3576372223992605","authorId":"3576372223992605","name":"Wintoto","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4a60a84c09c0e77ad43e9f793d8e9afe","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3576372223992605","idStr":"3576372223992605"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great","listText":"Great","text":"Great","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/147390964","repostId":"2151547589","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2151547589","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1626332112,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2151547589?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-15 14:55","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Google expands India cloud services with new infrastructure push","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2151547589","media":"Reuters","summary":"NEW DELHI, July 15 (Reuters) - Alphabet Inc's Google is ramping up cloud infrastructure in India wit","content":"
NEW DELHI, July 15 (Reuters) - Alphabet Inc's Google is ramping up cloud infrastructure in India with a second cluster of data centres in and around capital New Delhi to meet increasing customer demands in a key growth market, senior company executives said.
\n
The Google cloud region in Delhi and its outskirts is the U.S. tech giant's second such piece of infrastructure in the country and the tenth in the Asia Pacific.
\n
\"We have seen enormous growth in demand for Google cloud services in India so expanding our footprint in a new cloud region gives us the ability to offer more capacity for growth over many years,\" Thomas Kurian, CEO at Google Cloud, told a news conference this week ahead of a formal announcement on Thursday. \"It's a large commitment from us in capital and infrastructure investment and it's designed to allow us to capture the opportunity that we see around growth.\"
\n
The new infrastructure will help provide solutions for problems such as disaster recovery within India and ensure low latency for many state-run enterprises in and around Delhi, Kurian added.
\n
Google did not say how much it had invested to set up the new cloud facilities.
\n
India's fledgling startup economy has also helped drive and accelerate the use of cloud services, said Bikram Singh Bedi, managing director at Google Cloud's India unit.
\n
Google Cloud counts home-grown social network ShareChat, online travel firm Cleartrip and private sector lender HDFC Bank among its India customers.
\n
Google has bet big on India. The firm saw record trading volume of $123.8 billion in the first quarter as demand for online securities trading continued to rise.
\n
UP Fintech added 296K new client accounts in the first quarter of 2021, more than 3 times that of the first quarter of 2020. The total number of clients with deposits increased 180.4% year-over-year to 376K. Led by strong growth in the client base coupled with active engagement in the markets during the quarter, the total client account balance reached a record high of $21.4 billion in Q1.
\n
Total revenue increased 255.5% year-over-year to $81.3 million. Non-GAAP profit was $23.5 million during the quarter, 22 times that of the first quarter of 2020.
\n
In the first quarter, UP Fintech continued to expand its international reach with a growing presence in Singapore. Since the launch of its mobile trading app in Singapore a year ago, the firm has successfully differentiated itself with its innovative technology in a crowded market. In order to further expand product offerings for local users to diversify their portfolios, UP Fintech introduced new products and services in Singapore including its Fund Mall, as well as Daily Leveraged Certificates (DLCs), and US-listed over the counter (OTC) equities in Q1.
\n
The quarterly additions of new client accounts and funded accounts in Singapore increased by 257.9% and 300.8%, respectively, compared to the preceding quarter. The number of new accounts in Singapore during the first three months of 2021 also exceeded the total for 2020, representing an important step forward in implementing the firm’s global expansion strategy.
\n
Other revenues from corporate services, including investment banking and ESOP, rose 330.5% to $10.5 million from the prior year period. In Q1, UP Fintech participated in 14 H.K. and U.S. IPOs and served as an underwriter in 8 of them. The firm’s U.S. subsidiary also served as a lead bank for the first time in KuKe’s U.S. IPO (NYSE:KUKE). Despite having only started its investment banking business three years ago, UP Fintech has participated in more than 80 U.S. IPOs of Chinese issuers, leading U.S. IPO underwriting of Chinese companies by deal count among brokerages in both 2019 and 2020.
\n
The firm also added 41 ESOP clients in Q1. Meanwhile, UP Fintech received ISO27701:2019 and ISO29151:2017 accreditations from DNV. These certifications certified the firm’s commitment to comply with the most stringent international standards in supporting data integrity and client confidentiality.
\n
“We delivered another strong performance in Q1 with the highest ever funded account additions of 117K during the quarter. We are proud to now serve a diverse and sophisticated base of 376K investors. In Q1, more than half of new clients came from international markets, demonstrating our global expansion strategy is proceeding nicely. The Singapore market delivered phenomenal customer growth, serving as a testament to the relevance of our product offering and the opportunity in the retail brokerage market,” stated Mr. Wu Tianhua, CEO of UP Fintech. “We are off to a strong start in 2021 with record new accounts and client balances. Looking ahead, we will continue to expand our product portfolio and enhance our one-stop trading platform to meet investor preferences.”
\n
Safe Harbor Statement
\n
This announcement contains forward-looking statements. Revenue is all but a lock because Taiwan Semi discloses its monthly figure every month—that sum is about NT$372 billion.
\n
Earlier this year, Taiwan Semi executives increased the company’s 2021 capital spending plan to $30 billion, from an expected $25 billion to $28 billion—and put the three-year figure at $100 billion.
\n
The company will divert most of the capital spending cash to building manufacturing capacity for its most advanced processors used by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Apple (AAPL), and Intel (INTC).
\n
J.P. Morgan analyst Gokul Hariharan expects Apple to contribute a hefty amount to Taiwan Semi’s sales since Apple’s new iPhone and Mac processors are manufactured by Taiwan chip giant.
