Here's What Matters Most.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1151724613","media":"Barrons","summary":"Tesla is set to report second-quarter earnings Monday. Get ready for a very complicated report.\nThe ","content":"
Tesla is set to report second-quarter earnings Monday. Get ready for a very complicated report.
\n
The EV pioneer will report after the close of trading on Monday, July 26. Wall Street is looking for Tesla (ticker: TSLA) to report about 94 cents in per-share earnings from $11.5 billion in sales, according to FactSet. Beating analyst estimates is important, almost required, for any stock to remain stable in post-earnings trading. Thatâs true for Tesla as well.
\n
There will be a lot of moving parts, however, even more than usual for the worldâs most valuable car company and its iconoclast CEO Elon Musk.
\n
Factors that will contribute to bottom-line earnings include the global semiconductor shortage, vehicle pricing, vehicle gross profit margins, and the level of profitability in Teslaâs battery storage business. In the end, however, investors will want to see a record in operating profitsâno matter how it happens. Thatâs what could break shares out of their recent range.
\n

\n
Tesla reported more than $800 million in operating profits in the 2020 third quarter, and the stock more than doubled to around $860 in the three-month span that followed. But since operating profit growth largely paused in the subsequent quarters, shares have traded down from roughly $860 to around $640 recently. Profit stagnation has meant stock stagnation, too.
\n
The good news for Tesla bulls is Wall Street is projecting a fresh record: Operating profit is expected to be $835 million for the second quarter, driven by strong deliveries. The 2021 second quarter marked the first time Tesla delivered more than 200,000 vehicles in a single quarter.
\n
After earnings are digested, there should be endless arguments among bulls and bears about the quality of earnings. For instance, one way Tesla generates sales is by selling regulatory creditsâwhich it earns by producing more than its fair share of electric vehicles. The company generated $518 million in first-quarter credit sales, which helped Tesla beat earnings estimates. There is always debate about what is the ânormalâ amount of credit sales and when will those sales dry up. Eventually, both the bulls and bears expect other auto makers to sell their own EVs, cutting off that source of revenue for Tesla.
\n
There is also the issue of Bitcoin. Tesla recognized a small gain on its Bitcoin holdings in the first quarter, but the cryptocurrencyâs prices have fallen by roughly half since their April peak. That means there is a chance of a small loss. How investors react is anyoneâs guess, but donât expect Tesla to sell out of its Bitcoin position. Musk continues to indicate his company will transact in the cryptocurrency when Bitcoin mining uses more sustainable power.
\n
Investors will also want to know when Teslaâs new Germany plant and Austin, Texas facility will start delivering cars. The Austin plant will build Teslaâs Cybertruck. There will also likely be questions about advances in Teslaâs driver-assistance functionsâthe company recently started selling its driver-assistance software as a subscriptionâand how much money the company could make from its charging network. Get ready for a very complicated report.\nThe EV pioneer will report after the close of trading on Monday, July 26. Wall Street is looking for Tesla (ticker: TSLA) to report about 94 cents in per-share earnings from $11.5 billion in sales, according to FactSet. Beating analyst estimates is important, almost required, for any stock to remain stable in post-earnings trading. Thatâs true for Tesla as well.\nThere will be a lot of moving parts, however, even more than usual for the worldâs most valuable car company and its iconoclast CEO Elon Musk.\nFactors that will contribute to bottom-line earnings include the global semiconductor shortage, vehicle pricing, vehicle gross profit margins, and the level of profitability in Teslaâs battery storage business. In the end, however, investors will want to see a record in operating profitsâno matter how it happens. Thatâs what could break shares out of their recent range.\n\nTesla reported more than $800 million in operating profits in the 2020 third quarter, and the stock more than doubled to around $860 in the three-month span that followed. But since operating profit growth largely paused in the subsequent quarters, shares have traded down from roughly $860 to around $640 recently. Profit stagnation has meant stock stagnation, too.\nThe good news for Tesla bulls is Wall Street is projecting a fresh record: Operating profit is expected to be $835 million for the second quarter, driven by strong deliveries. The 2021 second quarter marked the first time Tesla delivered more than 200,000 vehicles in a single quarter.\nAfter earnings are digested, there should be endless arguments among bulls and bears about the quality of earnings. Eventually, both the bulls and bears expect other auto makers to sell their own EVs, cutting off that source of revenue for Tesla.\nThere is also the issue of Bitcoin. Musk continues to indicate his company will transact in the cryptocurrency when Bitcoin mining uses more sustainable power.\nInvestors will also want to know when Teslaâs new Germany plant and Austin, Texas facility will start delivering cars. The Austin plant will build Teslaâs Cybertruck. There will also likely be questions about advances in Teslaâs driver-assistance functionsâthe company recently started selling its driver-assistance software as a subscriptionâand how much money the company could make from its charging network. Musk tweeted this week Tesla would open its charging network to other EVs down the road.\nThose topics and more should be discussed on the earnings conference call scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Year to date, Tesla stock is down roughly 9%, trailing behind comparable 17% and 15% respective gains of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average.Still, Tesla shares have had a strong run, up about 112% over the past 12 months.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1134,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":171758415,"gmtCreate":1626767755937,"gmtModify":1703764803949,"author":{"id":"3576662504844996","authorId":"3576662504844996","name":"Ice1234","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576662504844996","authorIdStr":"3576662504844996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/171758415","repostId":"1186538600","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1186538600","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1626766521,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1186538600?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-20 15:35","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla Stock Preview: One Week Before Earnings","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1186538600","media":"The Street","summary":"One week before Teslaâs Q2 earnings call, hereâs what to expect.\n\nWhile Tesla stock has continued to","content":"
\n One week before Teslaâs Q2 earnings call, hereâs what to expect.\n
\n
While Tesla stock has continued to sell-off, the stock has averaged positive returns the week before the earnings call. An innovation inspired by COVID-19 that Shvetz expects will increasingly become the norm in the US. As the younger generation embraces \"socialism\", the US government will likely increasingly pay for medicine and even a universal basic income for those who don't work (and perhaps even for those who do).
\n
ust this week, the Biden Administration introduced new handouts for families with young children.
\n
\n And the third element is a deglobalization and localization that's going to continue to strengthen. \n So what you have in the next 10 to 20 years, two very powerful forces are going to struggle. One is very strong, long term disinflationary force, which ultimately is going to win.And the other one is more inflation created from various things we're going to do over the next 10 to 20 years. Now, the interesting question, Erik is who is going to decide whether inflation or disinflation wins at any given point in time? Now, my personal view for quite some time has been that private sector will never walk again on this system.\n
\n
While Shvetz doesn't believe in systematic inflation, he believes in systematic disinflation.
\n
The reason is that technology has turbocharged the spirit of competition. And the same deflationary forces that gave us free music, free equity trades and free digital news will soon get to work on other aspects of the economy, until prices are falling on nearly all goods and services.
\n
\n So if one agrees with me, that cost of capital must fall forever, then it's like pouring a kerosene on a bonfire of technological age. And what technology does incredibly well is reducing marginal pricing power of both labor and capital, and corporates, and brands. And so what happens over time, those reduction in marginal pricing power converges into average pricing power, which also declines. \n And eventually, almost everything becomes free. There is no prices, just like information today is almost entirely free.Just like publications today, almost entirely free, just like trading on the New York Stock Exchange quite, not quite, but almost entirely free. Just like a lot of music is almost entirely free. So we already have massively reduced marginal pricing power in a lot of industries. We've already reduced marginal pricing power of labor.\n
\n
Shvetz even cited research from McKinsey and others to justify his \"everything goes to zero\" thesis about long-term price deflation.
\n
\n That's why McKinsey in their review, was estimating that the impact of information age could be 3000 times the impact of industrial age. In other words, much broader and much faster, 300 times broader, 10 times faster. And so when I say everything goes to zero, eventually, the productivity growth rates will be so high, that there will be no need to value any of that stuff. And the economists are not going to function the same way as I've done over the last two or 300 years.\n
\n
Moving on to a discussion of contemporary markets, Townsend asked Shvetz for his view on interest rates. Is the only rational direction for Treasury yields higher? To this, Shvetz offered a detail answer grounded in history. As government debt burdens have soared, the only way forward for central banks is to follow the BoJ and artificially repress yields as central banks buy up the entire market.
\n
\n Well, it reminds me what people were saying about Japan. Remember in 1990s and early 2000. The view was that if God forbid Japan ever ignites inflation, they immediately go bankrupt because the government will be spending 50, 60, 70% of their budget just servicing the debt. Now, how much do you think Japanese Government today is spending on servicing debt 4%. Not 50, not 40, not 80, 4%. And the debt burden is much, much larger than what it used to be. Now a lot of people say, well, you know, Japan is unique.\n
\n
\n Okay, let's look at Eurozone. How unique is Eurozone? Look at the UK? How unique is the United Kingdom? And if you think of the US.One of the things that is becoming very clear, is that what happened in Japan since early 90s. What happened in Eurozone since global financial crisis over the last five or six years started to happen in the US as well. \n And a basic sort of signal that the US is sending now, just like the other economies do, it's not about supply of money. It's about demand for money. It's not about supply of credit.I\n
\n
\n t's about demand for credit. And increasingly, the more we leverage, the more we financialize, the more we erode marginal demand for credit. Now, what that implies is that interest rates not only they cannot go up, but they will not go up. And by the way, if they do, remember, we always have perpetuals, which have no value at all, because they're never redeemable.\n
\n
\n On the horizon, we have MMT or modern monetary theory. We already have BoJ. Remember the has been monetizing more debt that the Government of Japan has been issuing. That's why they're sitting on 50 to 53% of JGB market. Eventually, you don't need the JGB market at some point in time.\n
\n
Echoing a pointmade by Jeffrey Gundlach, Shvetz points to the fact that on top of its burgeoning debt, the US also has hundreds of billions of dollars in unfunded liabilities.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; An innovation inspired by COVID-19 that Shvetz expects will increasingly become the norm in the US. As the younger generation embraces \"socialism\", the US government will likely increasingly pay for medicine and even a universal basic income for those who don't work (and perhaps even for those who do).\nust this week, the Biden Administration introduced new handouts for families with young children.\n\n And the third element is a deglobalization and localization that's going to continue to strengthen. Now, my personal view for quite some time has been that private sector will never walk again on this system.\n\nWhile Shvetz doesn't believe in systematic inflation, he believes in systematic disinflation.\nThe reason is that technology has turbocharged the spirit of competition. And the same deflationary forces that gave us free music, free equity trades and free digital news will soon get to work on other aspects of the economy, until prices are falling on nearly all goods and services.\n\n So if one agrees with me, that cost of capital must fall forever, then it's like pouring a kerosene on a bonfire of technological age. We've already reduced marginal pricing power of labor.\n\nShvetz even cited research from McKinsey and others to justify his \"everything goes to zero\" thesis about long-term price deflation.\n\n That's why McKinsey in their review, was estimating that the impact of information age could be 3000 times the impact of industrial age. In other words, much broader and much faster, 300 times broader, 10 times faster. And so when I say everything goes to zero, eventually, the productivity growth rates will be so high, that there will be no need to value any of that stuff. And the economists are not going to function the same way as I've done over the last two or 300 years.\n\nMoving on to a discussion of contemporary markets, Townsend asked Shvetz for his view on interest rates. Is the only rational direction for Treasury yields higher? To this, Shvetz offered a detail answer grounded in history. As government debt burdens have soared, the only way forward for central banks is to follow the BoJ and artificially repress yields as central banks buy up the entire market.\n\n Well, it reminds me what people were saying about Japan. Now a lot of people say, well, you know, Japan is unique.\n\n\nOkay, let's look at Eurozone. It's not about supply of credit.I\n\n\n t's about demand for credit. And increasingly, the more we leverage, the more we financialize, the more we erode marginal demand for credit. Now, what that implies is that interest rates not only they cannot go up, but they will not go up. And by the way, if they do, remember, we always have perpetuals, which have no value at all, because they're never redeemable.\n\n\n On the horizon, we have MMT or modern monetary theory. We already have BoJ. Remember the has been monetizing more debt that the Government of Japan has been issuing. That's why they're sitting on 50 to 53% of JGB market. Eventually, you don't need the JGB market at some point in time.\n\nEchoing a pointmade by Jeffrey Gundlach, Shvetz points to the fact that on top of its burgeoning debt, the US also has hundreds of billions of dollars in unfunded liabilities.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":484,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":147398045,"gmtCreate":1626332790687,"gmtModify":1703758066287,"author":{"id":"3576662504844996","authorId":"3576662504844996","name":"Ice1234","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576662504844996","authorIdStr":"3576662504844996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$NIO Inc.(NIO)$under value ","listText":"$NIO Inc.(NIO)$under value ","text":"$NIO Inc.(NIO)$under value","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/147398045","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":416,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":142529516,"gmtCreate":1626163063835,"gmtModify":1703754580658,"author":{"id":"3576662504844996","authorId":"3576662504844996","name":"Ice1234","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576662504844996","authorIdStr":"3576662504844996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok ","listText":"Ok ","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/142529516","repostId":"1101566017","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1101566017","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1626132937,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1101566017?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-13 07:35","market":"us","language":"en","title":"How earnings season is likely to play out in the coming weeks and its impact on the stock market","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1101566017","media":"cnbc","summary":"The great cyclical rebound is about to get underway with outsized gains expected in the quarterly profits of industrial, consumer discretionary, energy and materials companies.Earnings growth in the second quarter is expected to be a stunning 66%, as companies compare their results to the depressed period last year when the pandemic abruptly shut down the economy, according to Refinitiv data.âIf you listen to what the CFOs are going to say, youâre going to think the earnings are terrible, but if","content":"
\n
The great cyclical rebound is about to get underway with outsized gains expected in the quarterly profits of industrial, consumer discretionary, energy and materials companies.\nEarnings growth in the ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; That compares to shockingly large estimated increases in industrial sector profits of more than 570%, and energy industry profits, up 220%. Earnings for the financial and materials sectors are expected to be up more than 100% each.\nThose huge gains and expected earnings beats should be a positive for some cyclical stocks this quarter. Earnings season kicks off Tuesday with reports fromJPMorgan Chase,Goldman Sachs,andPepsiCo.\nThis earnings season will be the period where the tug of war thatâs been a factor in the stock market, between cyclical and growth trades, is due to play out very clearly in the earnings numbers. Inflationary pressures, negative for tech stock performance, are expected to help boost cyclical earnings growth in the rebound, as companies face rising input costs but also up their prices.\nâI think what youâre going to see is a very unusual kind of contradiction between the data and the narrative,â said Jonathan Golub, chief U.S. equity strategist at Credit Suisse. âWhat companies are going to say is they are facing shortages and rising input costs and other things which are constraints to their success. And then what youâre going to see is massive beats and the biggest portions coming from higher margins. Theyâre not going to try to reconcile it.â\nGolub expects companies to provide detail on rising costs and supply shortages but not as much information on how much they are raising prices or how broadly.\nâIf you listen to what the CFOs are going to say, youâre going to think the earnings are terrible, but if you look at the results, theyâre going to be magnificent,â he said.\nBut ultimately, itâs tech and growth that will prove to be the best performers profit-wise over the long haul. âTheir own earnings revisions for themselves are still good. Theyâre not deteriorating. Theyâre solid. Theyâre not getting worse. Theyâre not accelerating in this ridiculous way. Theyâre on the same solid trajectory theyâve been on,â said Brian Rauscher, Fundstrat head of global portfolio strategy.\nRauscher expects the trend to revert back to tech as the better earnings performer in two quarters from now, when cyclical airline stocks or industrial stocks like Caterpillar will see earnings growth back in the single digits. âTech will keep growing at 25%,â he said.\nHe says economic growth will have slowed to a more normalized and sustained pace. By then it will be more apparent whether inflation is temporary or not.\nâIf they are unable to pass along price increases, it will hit the earnings,â he said.\nGolub points out that tech profits in last yearâs second quarter actually increased by 3.3% from 2019, as cyclical earnings plunged 85% in the same period. The 2021 second quarter earnings growth estimate for tech is 34.2%, while some cyclical earnings will rebound by more than 570% just to get back to even with 2019.\nâIt says one of these is a near term trade, and one of them is a long term trade,â said Golub. âOnce the supply chain issues are gone, [cyclicals] are going to be unimpressive.â\nEven with the push pull of tech and growth versus cyclical trades, strategists say the earning season should be good for the stock market.\nâI think the numbers will be very good, and itâll be supportive for markets,â said Rauscher. He said some investors may be concerned that a peak period of earnings this quarter will lead to a market decline but he doesnât expect that to be the case.\nâObviously, the numbers are going to be outsized because we have that weird comparison from last year. I think the important thing is going to be the return of guidance,â Rauscher said. Both he and Golub say they expect earnings to beat to the upside.\nâI think the analysts have underestimated the improvement in operating leverage,â Rauscher said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":200,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":800652563,"gmtCreate":1627300658252,"gmtModify":1703487082972,"author":{"id":"3576662504844996","authorId":"3576662504844996","name":"Ice1234","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576662504844996","authorIdStr":"3576662504844996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like please ","listText":"Like please ","text":"Like please","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/800652563","repostId":"1151724613","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1151724613","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1627292512,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1151724613?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-26 17:41","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla Reports Earnings Today.

Eventually, both the bulls and bears expect other auto makers to sell their own EVs, cutting off that source of revenue for Tesla.\nThere is also the issue of Bitcoin. Year to date, Tesla stock is down roughly 9%, trailing behind comparable 17% and 15% respective gains of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average.Still, Tesla shares have had a strong run, up about 112% over the past 12 months.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1134,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":173580551,"gmtCreate":1626669879273,"gmtModify":1703763059631,"author":{"id":"3576662504844996","authorId":"3576662504844996","name":"Ice1234","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576662504844996","authorIdStr":"3576662504844996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like please ","listText":"Like please ","text":"Like please","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/173580551","repostId":"1111084715","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1111084715","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1626649255,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1111084715?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-19 07:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Netflix, AT&T, Snap, Chipotle, Twitter, and Other Stocks for Investors to Watch This Week","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1111084715","media":"Barrons","summary":"Second-quarter earnings season picks up this week, as 76 S&P 500 companies are scheduled to report. That compares to shockingly large estimated increases in industrial sector profits of more than 570%, and energy industry profits, up 220%. Both he and Golub say they expect earnings to beat to the upside.\nâI think the analysts have underestimated the improvement in operating leverage,â Rauscher said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":200,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":899162901,"gmtCreate":1628169949703,"gmtModify":1703502465286,"author":{"id":"3576662504844996","authorId":"3576662504844996","name":"Ice1234","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576662504844996","authorIdStr":"3576662504844996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like ","listText":"Like ","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/899162901","repostId":"1174241374","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1174241374","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1628168340,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1174241374?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-08-05 20:59","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Blackstone, Other Private-Equity Stocks Catch Fire","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1174241374","media":"The Wall Street Journal","summary":"The firms and their long-languishing shares are benefiting from current market dynamics such as low ","content":"
\n The firms and their long-languishing shares are benefiting from current market dynamics such as low interest rates.\n
\n
After years of lackluster performance, shares of private-equity firms have hit their stride.
\n
In the decade or more sinceBlackstone GroupInc.,BX1.38%KKRKKR1.90%& Co.,Apollo Global ManagementInc.APO0.38%andCarlyle GroupInc.CG1.00%went public, their assets under management have exploded as they branched out beyond leveraged buyouts into areas such as real estate, lending and insurance.
\n
But their stocks languished, leading executives such asBlackstoneBX1.38%chief Stephen Schwarzman to publicly gripe that the market was undervaluing them.
\n
That has changed in a big way since the U.S. economy began to emerge from the coronavirus-driven downturn.
\n
Including dividends, shares of Blackstone have tripled since April 1, 2020, roughly when the recovery began, pushing its market capitalization to around $140 billion. They began to emphasize figures that matter more to public investors, including the amount of earnings that can be returned in the form of dividends and profit tied to management fees, which are more predictable than performance-related income.
\n
KKR earlier this year said it was tying employee compensation more closely to performance fees, enabling more of the management-fee stream to flow to public investors.
\n
âWhat the markets want are sticky, consistent fee streams that are recurring in nature with high re-up rates,â said Morgan Stanley analyst Michael Cyprys, who has been covering the stocks for years.
\n
And all four firms have thrown themselves into raising so-called permanent or perpetual capital. It is money that doesnât have to be returned or re-raised within a few years, as has historically been the norm with private-equity funds, and can keep churning out fees instead.
\n
The quest for such long-term capital has led them to develop platforms to manage assets for insurance companies and offer new products to individual investors.
\n
Long a leader in insurance, Apollo now gets more than $250 billion of its $471.8 billion in assets from insurance affiliatesAthene HoldingLtd.and Athora Holding Ltd. They began to emphasize figures that matter more to public investors, including the amount of earnings that can be returned in the form of dividends and profit tied to management fees, which are more predictable than performance-related income.\nKKR earlier this year said it was tying employee compensation more closely to performance fees, enabling more of the management-fee stream to flow to public investors.\nâWhat the markets want are sticky, consistent fee streams that are recurring in nature with high re-up rates,â said Morgan Stanley analyst Michael Cyprys, who has been covering the stocks for years.\nAnd all four firms have thrown themselves into raising so-called permanent or perpetual capital. It is money that doesnât have to be returned or re-raised within a few years, as has historically been the norm with private-equity funds, and can keep churning out fees instead.\nThe quest for such long-term capital has led them to develop platforms to manage assets for insurance companies and offer new products to individual investors.\nLong a leader in insurance, Apollo now gets more than $250 billion of its $471.8 billion in assets from insurance affiliatesAthene HoldingLtd.and Athora Holding Ltd. Apollo is solidifying the arrangement with a deal announced this year to buy the piece of Athene it doesnât already own. Its rivals have all made recent movesaimed at catching up.\nBlackstone has led the charge on the industryâs other major permanent-capital front: individual investors. The firmhas been investing for yearsto create infrastructure to distribute and market products aimed at moderately wealthy individualsâa market it estimates is worth $80 trillionâand it has become clear in recent quarters that the effort is paying off in a big way.\nBREIT, the firmâs nontraded real-estate investment trust, and BCRED, a private-credit product likewise aimed at individual investors, have been raising a combined $4 billion in new capital each month, the firm said during its second-quarter earnings call last month.\nBlackstoneâs peers are starting to follow suit. KKR in May rolled out a product to offer private real estate to individual investors. Apollo said Wednesday it is investing in its own retail distribution channel, with the goal of making individual investors a material piece of its third-party inflows in the next three-to-five years.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":653,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9030627398,"gmtCreate":1645713832767,"gmtModify":1676534056513,"author":{"id":"3576662504844996","authorId":"3576662504844996","name":"Ice1234","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576662504844996","authorIdStr":"3576662504844996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Like]
