In a race to disrupt residential real estate, one of the largest markets in the world, Opendoor's long-term potential could bring big returns for patient investors.</p>\n<p>Despite the upside, the market hasn't yet appreciated Opendoor's accomplishments; the stock is down more than 50% from its highs. There are three important clues that Opendoor could be a compelling investment idea for bold investors.</p>\n<h3>1. Opendoor is winning the iBuying battle</h3>\n<p>The traditional home-buying process in the United States is slow and handled by multiple parties, including agents, lawyers, inspectors, and bankers. This creates a lot of back and forth paperwork and drags the process out to more than 30 days, on average.</p>\n<p>Opendoor pioneered the concept of \"iBuying,\" where the buying and selling of a house are digitized, and a company like Opendoor works directly with sellers to provide them with a cash offer and a digital closing process. The company then resells the house on the market. The iBuying process cuts out agents and some of the fees associated with traditional closings, such as agent commissions. Opendoor then resells the house on the market and charges a service fee of up to 5% on the transaction.</p>\n<p>After seeing Opendoor steadily grow with its iBuying concept, competitors have also begun to offer iBuying services, including&nbsp;<b>Zillow Group</b>&nbsp;and Offerpad. Because of how capital intensive the business is (a lot of money is needed to buy and sell thousands of houses) and how price competitive the housing market is, these companies are racing to get as big as possible. As the companies buy and sell more homes, they have the ability to become more profitable by leveraging outsourced contractors to save money, and its pricing algorithm improves as it sees more transactions.</p>\n<p>According to iBuyerStats, a website dedicated to tracking the competitors found in iBuying, Opendoor has consistently had the most housing inventory available for sale. It currently has roughly 3,300 houses for sale, 53% more than Zillow and more than four times as many as Offerpad.</p>\n<h3>2. Revenue growth is ahead of schedule</h3>\n<p>When companies go public viaSPACmerger, they lay out a public presentation of their business, often including long-term growth projections. Opendoor laid out its pre-merger investor presentation about a year ago, in September 2020.</p>\n<p>Fast forward to the company's recent 2021 Q2 earnings call. CEO and founder Eric Wu said on the earnings call, \"... based on our current progress, our second half revenue run rate is on track to exceed our 2023 target, a full two years ahead of plan.\"</p>\n<p>In other words, if Opendoor were to operate for 12 months at the level the business currently is, it would surpass the $9.8 billion in revenue it projected for 2023. This is an underlooked point because if Opendoor is already two years ahead of its original growth curve, where will it be by 2023? Sure, a dip in the housing market or other events could disrupt the company's speed of growth, but Opendoor is showing the world that the business is operating at a high level.</p>\n<h3>3. SPACs are out of favor with the market... opportunity?</h3>\n<p>Investors have overlooked this strong performance, focusing instead on the fact that Opendoor joined the public market via SPAC merger. It has hardly mattered what operating results or earnings have looked like for former SPACs; the stock market has been selling off virtually all SPAC-based stocks for several months now.</p>\n<p>Investors have been spooked by a handful of \"bad apple\" companies turning up fraudulent, and other companies have wildly missed on the projections they made before going public. These instances have burned those involved, and investors have taken a much more cautious attitude toward SPACs as a whole.</p>\n<p>But if companies like Opendoor keep blowing away estimates, the market is likely to come around eventually. When it does, the stock price could move aggressively. If we take Eric Wu's comments about revenue and assume that Opendoor does sales of $10 billion in 2022 (in other words, Opendoor stops growing and maintains its current pace over the following year), the stock currently trades at aprice-to-sales(P/S) ratio of just 1.0. That's a bargain-bin valuation.</p>\n<p>Competitor Zillow Group trades at a P/S ratio of more than 3, reflecting Opendoor's discount as a former SPAC.</p>\n<h3>Here's the bottom line</h3>\n<p>Real estate is a huge market, and it's a complicated industry because of the clash between traditional agents and the \"new kids\" on the block trying to bring technology into homebuying. If the loftiest price target of 51 Canadian dollars ($40.70 U.S.) were to become a reality, Canopy Growth would rocket higher by 126%.</p>\n<p>The optimism surrounding the company probably has to do with its leading market share in the Canadian weed industry, as well as its massive cash war chest. According to the company, it maintained a 15.2% share of weed sales in tracked provinces in the calendar second quarter.&nbsp; That's an impressive figure given how competitive the Canadian cannabis landscape has become over the past three years.</p>\n<p>Furthermore, Canopy Growth ended June with CA$2.05 billion in cash and cash equivalents, which means it has more than enough capital to continue executing on its strategy. If you're wondering why it's so flush with cash, look no further than multiple direct equity investments from spirits giant <b>Constellation Brands</b>.</p>\n<p>However -- and this is a big \"however\" -- the Canadian pot industry and Canopy Growth have been an utter disaster since marijuana was legalized in October 2018. The highest Wall Street price target forecasts that Penn National will head to $151 a share, which would represent a cool 113% return from where it closed the previous week.</p>\n<p>Penn's overwhelming success since the pandemic struck can be tied to two key factors. First, it owns 43 gaming or horse-racing properties in 20 states. Whereas most casinos were pulverized by the pandemic, Penn National escaped much of this pain since its properties aren't located solely in tourist destinations. In other words, Penn's gaming properties encourage local foot traffic, which is one reason it's so successful.</p>\n<p>Arguably the bigger reason Penn has been on fire since the pandemic began is the 36% equity stake it took in online sports-betting service Barstool Sports in February 2020. Alibaba primarily operates as a third-party online marketplace, and was hit with a record $2.8 billion antitrust fine from Chinese regulators this past April.</p>\n<p>Meanwhile, JD almost exclusively sells goods directly to Chinese consumers. This means it operates an <b>Amazon</b>-like business model, whereby it controls its inventory and logistics. This makes it far less likely that JD falls under the microscope of Chinese regulators.</p>\n<p>The great thing about JD is that it's expanded its reach beyond just e-commerce. More specifically, it's generating revenue from advertising, healthcare services, and cloud services. The latter is particularly intriguing given that cloud margins are substantially higher than online retail margins. Namely, we're witnessing a shift away from combustion-engine vehicles and toward green energy-powered vehicles. This shift won't happen overnight, but will instead provide a multi-decade opportunity for consumers and businesses to make the shift.</p>\n<p>Plug Power really excited investors in January when the company forged two significant joint ventures just a few days apart. First, SK Group took a 10% equity stake in Plug Power, with the intent of working with Plug to bring hydrogen fuel-cell-powered cars and refilling stations to South Korea. Days later, Plug linked up with French automaker <b>Renault</b> to launch Hyvia, which'll target Europe's light commercial vehicle market.</p>\n<p>At this point, there's little doubt that Plug Power's sales growth will impress for years to come. Tesla’s&nbsp;board currently has nine members who are divided into three classes in staggered three-year terms.</p>\n<p>If the proposal is approved, however, the board will be divided into two classes with staggered two-year terms, with directors distributed as equally between the classes as possible, Tesla said in the&nbsp;filing.</p>\n<p>The board would be reduced to eight members, since Antonio Gracias, a venture capitalist who has served on the Tesla board since 2007, said in 2019 he’d not be seeking reelection when his term ends this year.</p>\n<p>Tesla’s board nominated current board members James Murdoch, the youngest son of News Corp&nbsp;founder Rupert Murdoch, and Kimbal Musk, Chief Executive Elon Musk’s brother, for re-election as class II directors, with terms expiring in 2024. If the term reduction is approved, then their terms would end in 2023, the company said.</p>\n<p>Tesla’s curtailing board member terms was a response to a shareholder proposal calling to elect each board member for one year.</p>\n<p>The two-year term, however, “strikes a suitable balance to the long-term interests of and nearer-term accountability to our stockholders at this time,” Tesla said.</p>\n<p>Tesla shares were flat in after-hours trading after ending the regular trading day down 0.7%. The fees Amazon collects from Prime help it to undercut its competition on price. And it certainly doesn't hurt that Prime members tend to spend many multiples more than non-Prime shoppers during the course of the year.</p>\n<p>But it's the company's cloud infrastructure service, Amazon Web Services (AWS), that has truly budded into a star. Since the operating margins associated with cloud infrastructure are considerably higher than what Amazon nets from retail and advertising, AWS' growth is leading to a surge in operating cash flow. Meanwhile, dozens of additional clinical trials are underway for cancer immunotherapy Opdivo, which generated $7 billion in sales last year. This offers plenty of opportunity to expand Opdivo's label and pump up its pricing power.</p>\n<p>Another reason Bristol Myers Squibb is such an intriguing stock is its November 2019 acquisition of cancer and immunology company Celgene. Buying Celgene brought the blockbuster multiple-myeloma drug Revlimid into the fold. Revlimid has sustainably grown its annual sales by a double-digit percentage for more than a decade, with label expansion, longer duration of use, and pricing power all playing a role. This key treatment, which topped $12 billion in sales last year, is protected from a full onslaught of generic competition until early 2026. Payment processor <b>Mastercard</b> (NYSE:MA) might well be the safest way to take advantage of a steady uptick in consumer and enterprise spending.</p>\n<p>Mastercard isn't a cheap stock by any means -- at 36 times Wall Street's forward-year earnings consensus -- but it benefits from a simple numbers game. While economic contractions and recessions are inevitable, these periods of turbulence tend to be short-lived. By comparison, economic expansions often last many years. Buying into Mastercard allows investors to take full advantage of these long periods of economic expansion and robust spending. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Mastercard has the second-highest share of credit-card network purchase volume in the U.S., the leading market for consumption.</p>\n<p>Investors can also sleep easy with the understanding that Mastercard strictly sticks to payment facilitation. Even though some of its peers also lend, and are therefore able to generate interest income and fees during bull markets, Mastercard has avoided becoming a lender. Like Amazon, it's a stock that was added to Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio by either Combs or Weschler and not Buffett.</p>\n<p>While there's no denying that Teva has its fair share of hurdles to overcome, the company's turnaround-focused CEO, Kare Schultz, has been a blessing. Since taking the helm less than four years ago, Schultz has helped shave off more than $10 billion in net debt, and he's overseen the reduction of roughly $3 billion in annual operating expenses. There's more work to do to improve Teva's balance sheet, but the company is very clearly on much firmer ground than it was back in 2016-2017.</p>\n<p>Schultz also has the potential to play peacemaker for a number of outstanding lawsuits targeting Teva's role in the opioid crisis. If this litigation can be resolved with minimal cash outlay, Teva's valuation could soar. That's meant less in the way of interest income for banks. But the latest update from the nation's central bank suggests that interest rates could begin creeping up in 2023, a year earlier than previously forecast. Bank of America is the most interest-sensitive money-center bank. According to its first-quarter investor presentation, BofA would generate $8.3 billion in net interest income on a 100-basis-point shift in the interest rate yield curve. Translation: Bank of America's profits should rocket higher beginning in 2023-2024.</p>\n<p>At the same time, BofA has done an outstanding job of controlling its costs and improving its operating efficiency. Investments in digitization have resulted in higher mobile app and digital banking use, which is allowing the company to consolidate some of its branches. Coming into the week, shares of Chinese EV maker&nbsp;NIO(NIO) were up 17% for the month.XPeng(XPEV) and&nbsp;Li Auto(LI) had gained 31% and 36%, respectively.</p>\n<p>Tesla, on the other hand, was down for the month of June coming into this week. But China is the world’s largest market for EVs, so when things are going well there, it bodes well for Tesla. It looks like some of the Chinese EV maker stocks’ shine has finally rubbed off on Tesla.</p>\n<p><b>Delivery Optimism</b></p>\n<p>The second reason is about second-quarter deliveries, after&nbsp;perceived weakness&nbsp;in Chinese delivery numbers. More recently, however, several&nbsp;reports&nbsp;have been popping up about Tesla working hard to deliver vehicles into the end of this month.</p>\n<p>“After a disaster start to the quarter for Tesla in China, the Street is reading the tea leaves as bullish for the month of June with momentum into [the second half],” Wedbush analyst&nbsp;Dan Ivestells&nbsp;Barron’s. He believes 900,000 deliveries is still possible for 2021. Wall Street is modeling about 825,000. Tesla delivered about 500,000 cars in 2020.</p>\n<p><b>Green Tidal Wave</b></p>\n<p>Ives has also written about a “green tidal wave” coming from the White House. President Joe Biden wants part of any infrastructure bill to include purchase incentives for EVs as well as charging infrastructure. A bill isn’t ready, but&nbsp;progress&nbsp;was made in Washington this week.</p>\n<p><b>Musk Tweeting, Again</b></p>\n<p>No search for the reason behind moves in Tesla stock would be complete without looking at CEO Elon Musk ‘s&nbsp;Twitter (TWTR) feed. He tweeted Friday that the updated full self-driving, or FSD, software and subscription pricing could roll out in as soon as a week.</p>\n<p>Tesla plans to offer its highest level of&nbsp;driver assistance, called full self-driving or FSD, on a subscription basis. It’s a new era for car companies, which don’t typically get to realize recurring revenue like software providers. Bulls have been waiting quite some time for the FSD subscription to arrive.</p>\n<p><b>What’s Next</b></p>\n<p>Next up for Tesla investors, after any FSD release, will be second-quarter delivery numbers and then earnings. We found four reasons, outlined below.\nTaking Cues From China\nMany electric-vehicle stocks have been on a winning streak lately, beyond just Tesla. Coming into the week, shares of Chinese EV maker NIO(NIO) were up 17% for the month.XPeng(XPEV) and Li Auto(LI) had gained 31% and 36%, respectively.\nTesla, on the other hand, was down for the month of June coming into this week. But China is the world’s largest market for EVs, so when things are going well there, it bodes well for Tesla. It looks like some of the Chinese EV maker stocks’ shine has finally rubbed off on Tesla.\nDelivery Optimism\nThe second reason is about second-quarter deliveries, after perceived weakness in Chinese delivery numbers. More recently, however, several reports have been popping up about Tesla working hard to deliver vehicles into the end of this month.\n“After a disaster start to the quarter for Tesla in China, the Street is reading the tea leaves as bullish for the month of June with momentum into [the second half],” Wedbush analyst Dan Ivestells Barron’s. He believes 900,000 deliveries is still possible for 2021. Wall Street is modeling about 825,000. That isn't surprising, since PayPal still serves a much larger audience and operates in more countries than Square. But gazing into the future, could Square eventually match -- or even surpass -- PayPal's valuation by 2025? Let's examine both fintech companies' growth trajectories and valuations to find out.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a3384d45efb17ed54b398c7dbcc043fb\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2><b>Wild ambitions vs. stable growth</b></h2>\n<p>Square and PayPal's core business models are similar. Both companies charge businesses flat fees, which vary by platform and transaction type, to process payments. Both companies offer small business loans. Square's Cash App and PayPal's Venmo both enable consumers to make peer-to-peer payments, and both companies provide branded debit cards that are linked to users' online accounts.</p>\n<p>But Square has been willing to take bolder risks than PayPal over the past few years. It expanded its services ecosystem with online payroll management services and analytics tools, and recently launched a full suite of online banking services. Square also added <b>Bitcoin</b> (CRYPTO:BTC) purchases to its Cash App in 2018, added free stock trades to the app to challenge Robinhood in 2019, and plans to add Credit Karma's tax filing services to its ecosystem in the near future.</p>\n<p>PayPal only started offering cryptocurrency trades last October, and it doesn't have any near-term plans to launch stock trading tools or dedicated tax filing services, or expand into a full-blown online bank like Square. Simply put, Square seems to have wilder and grander ambitions than PayPal.</p>\n<h2>Which company is growing faster?</h2>\n<p>Between 2015 and 2020, Square grew its annual revenue at a CAGR of 49.6%. Excluding its massive gain in Bitcoin revenue last year, it would still have grown its revenue at a CAGR of 31.2% over the past five years. PayPal's annual revenue grew at a CAGR of 18.5% between 2015 and 2020. They also expect its growth in transaction-based and seller service revenue, which slowed down during the pandemic, to recover as more businesses reopen. The Cash App, which grew its monthly active users 50% to 36 million in 2020, should also keep expanding as Square adds new services.</p>\n<p>Cathie Wood's ARK Invest expects Square's transaction-based and seller service revenues to grow at a CAGR of 19% through 2025. It also expects the Cash App's MAUs to more than double to 75 million, for Square to monetize roughly 40% of those users, and for its average revenue per Cash App user to grow from $25 in 2019 to $260 in 2025 -- which would represent a whopping CAGR of 49%.</p>\n<p>PayPal's growth should remain more predictable, since it doesn't generate significant revenue from cryptocurrencies yet. Instead, it will mainly rely on its growth in active accounts, which rose 21% year-over-year to 392 million last quarter, to generate stable revenue from its processing fees.</p>\n<p>PayPal expects to nearly double its active accounts to 750 million and <i>more than double</i> its annual revenue to over $50 billion by 2025. It also plans to grow its earnings at a CAGR of 22% from 2020 to 2025. It believes the rising acceptance of QR codes and NFC payments, the expansion of its financial services, and higher engagement rates for its apps will all drive that long-term growth.</p>\n<h2>Will Square be worth more than PayPal by 2025?</h2>\n<p>In a best-case scenario, ARK Invest believes Square's stock could hit $500 per share by 2025 if it hits its growth targets. But unlike PayPal, Square hasn't provided any concrete targets of its own yet.</p>\n<p>If Square hits $500 and its valuations hold steady, it could be worth just over $200 billion by 2025. Meanwhile, if PayPal achieves its goals of more than doubling its annual revenue and growing its EPS at a CAGR of 22% through 2025, its stock could easily double and boost its market cap to $700 billion.</p>\n<p>Therefore, it's doubtful that Square -- which already trades at higher valuations than PayPal -- will be the more valuable company by 2025. But that doesn't mean PayPal is necessarily a better growth stock than Square. I personally own Square instead of PayPal, because I admire its ambitious and forward-thinking strategies. That isn't surprising, since PayPal still serves a much larger audience and operates in more countries than Square. But gazing into the future, could Square eventually match -- or even surpass -- PayPal's valuation by 2025? Let's examine both fintech companies' growth trajectories and valuations to find out.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nWild ambitions vs. stable growth\nSquare and PayPal's core business models are similar. Both companies charge businesses flat fees, which vary by platform and transaction type, to process payments. Both companies offer small business loans. Square's Cash App and PayPal's Venmo both enable consumers to make peer-to-peer payments, and both companies provide branded debit cards that are linked to users' online accounts.\nBut Square has been willing to take bolder risks than PayPal over the past few years. It expanded its services ecosystem with online payroll management services and analytics tools, and recently launched a full suite of online banking services. Square also added Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) purchases to its Cash App in 2018, added free stock trades to the app to challenge Robinhood in 2019, and plans to add Credit Karma's tax filing services to its ecosystem in the near future.\nPayPal only started offering cryptocurrency trades last October, and it doesn't have any near-term plans to launch stock trading tools or dedicated tax filing services, or expand into a full-blown online bank like Square. Simply put, Square seems to have wilder and grander ambitions than PayPal.\nWhich company is growing faster?\nBetween 2015 and 2020, Square grew its annual revenue at a CAGR of 49.6%. Excluding its massive gain in Bitcoin revenue last year, it would still have grown its revenue at a CAGR of 31.2% over the past five years. PayPal's annual revenue grew at a CAGR of 18.5% between 2015 and 2020. They also expect its growth in transaction-based and seller service revenue, which slowed down during the pandemic, to recover as more businesses reopen. The Cash App, which grew its monthly active users 50% to 36 million in 2020, should also keep expanding as Square adds new services.\nCathie Wood's ARK Invest expects Square's transaction-based and seller service revenues to grow at a CAGR of 19% through 2025. It also expects the Cash App's MAUs to more than double to 75 million, for Square to monetize roughly 40% of those users, and for its average revenue per Cash App user to grow from $25 in 2019 to $260 in 2025 -- which would represent a whopping CAGR of 49%.\nPayPal's growth should remain more predictable, since it doesn't generate significant revenue from cryptocurrencies yet. Instead, it will mainly rely on its growth in active accounts, which rose 21% year-over-year to 392 million last quarter, to generate stable revenue from its processing fees.\nPayPal expects to nearly double its active accounts to 750 million and more than double its annual revenue to over $50 billion by 2025. It also plans to grow its earnings at a CAGR of 22% from 2020 to 2025. It believes the rising acceptance of QR codes and NFC payments, the expansion of its financial services, and higher engagement rates for its apps will all drive that long-term growth.\nWill Square be worth more than PayPal by 2025?\nIn a best-case scenario, ARK Invest believes Square's stock could hit $500 per share by 2025 if it hits its growth targets. But unlike PayPal, Square hasn't provided any concrete targets of its own yet.\nIf Square hits $500 and its valuations hold steady, it could be worth just over $200 billion by 2025. Meanwhile, if PayPal achieves its goals of more than doubling its annual revenue and growing its EPS at a CAGR of 22% through 2025, its stock could easily double and boost its market cap to $700 billion.\nTherefore, it's doubtful that Square -- which already trades at higher valuations than PayPal -- will be the more valuable company by 2025. But that doesn't mean PayPal is necessarily a better growth stock than Square. I personally own Square instead of PayPal, because I admire its ambitious and forward-thinking strategies. Image source: The Motley Fool.</span></p>\n<h2>Amazon</h2>\n<p>Even though Buffett's investing lieutenants, Todd Combs and Ted Weschler, are the architects behind Berkshire Hathaway's stake in <b>Amazon</b> (NASDAQ:AMZN), it's arguably the Buffett stock that should be bought most aggressively ahead of the second half of the year.</p>\n<p>As most folks probably know, Amazon is an e-commerce juggernaut. Based on an April report from eMarketer, the company effectively controls $0.40 of every $1 spent online in the United States. It's also pivoted its online retail popularity into signing up more than 200 million people to its Prime program worldwide. The fees Amazon collects from Prime help it to undercut its competition on price. And it certainly doesn't hurt that Prime members tend to spend many multiples more than non-Prime shoppers during the course of the year.</p>\n<p>But it's the company's cloud infrastructure service, Amazon Web Services (AWS), that has truly budded into a star. Since the operating margins associated with cloud infrastructure are considerably higher than what Amazon nets from retail and advertising, AWS' growth is leading to a surge in operating cash flow. If investors were to continue to pay the midpoint of Amazon's operating cash flow multiple over the past decade, it could hit $10,000 a share by 2025.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b18b49b2b35da2fc49e0a83b883d1c22\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Bristol Myers Squibb</h2>\n<p>Pharmaceutical stocks are money machines, and none looks to be more attractive on a valuation basis than <b>Bristol Myers Squibb</b> (NYSE:BMY).</p>\n<p>One reason to be excited about this drug developer is its organic growth potential. Eliquis, which was co-developed with <b>Pfizer</b>, has blossomed into the world's leading oral anticoagulant, with sales expected to surpass $10 billion in 2021. Meanwhile, dozens of additional clinical trials are underway for cancer immunotherapy Opdivo, which generated $7 billion in sales last year. This offers plenty of opportunity to expand Opdivo's label and pump up its pricing power.</p>\n<p>Another reason Bristol Myers Squibb is such an intriguing stock is its November 2019 acquisition of cancer and immunology company Celgene. Buying Celgene brought the blockbuster multiple-myeloma drug Revlimid into the fold. Revlimid has sustainably grown its annual sales by a double-digit percentage for more than a decade, with label expansion, longer duration of use, and pricing power all playing a role. This key treatment, which topped $12 billion in sales last year, is protected from a full onslaught of generic competition until early 2026. That means Bristol Myers will be rolling in the dough for another five years, at minimum.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1b152e369d7c967dcbc926192ee888c1\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"531\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Mastercard</h2>\n<p>Everyone seems to be looking for the smartest recovery play from the pandemic. Payment processor <b>Mastercard</b> (NYSE:MA) might well be the safest way to take advantage of a steady uptick in consumer and enterprise spending.</p>\n<p>Mastercard isn't a cheap stock by any means -- at 36 times Wall Street's forward-year earnings consensus -- but it benefits from a simple numbers game. While economic contractions and recessions are inevitable, these periods of turbulence tend to be short-lived. By comparison, economic expansions often last many years. Buying into Mastercard allows investors to take full advantage of these long periods of economic expansion and robust spending. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Mastercard has the second-highest share of credit-card network purchase volume in the U.S., the leading market for consumption.</p>\n<p>Investors can also sleep easy with the understanding that Mastercard strictly sticks to payment facilitation. Even though some of its peers also lend, and are therefore able to generate interest income and fees during bull markets, Mastercard has avoided becoming a lender. It's something you'll truly appreciate when a recession strikes. Whereas most financial stocks will be forced to set aside capital to cover credit or loan delinquencies, Mastercard won't have to. This is a big reason it bounces back from recessions quicker than most financial stocks.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e4e1a1fe028efa4c966b66ef2cd466f5\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Teva Pharmaceutical Industries</h2>\n<p>If you have an appetite for turnaround plays, brand-name and generic-drug developer <b>Teva Pharmaceutical Industries</b> (NYSE:TEVA) is the stock to buy hand over fist for the second half of 2021. Like Amazon, it's a stock that was added to Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio by either Combs or Weschler and not Buffett.</p>\n<p>While there's no denying that Teva has its fair share of hurdles to overcome, the company's turnaround-focused CEO, Kare Schultz, has been a blessing. Since taking the helm less than four years ago, Schultz has helped shave off more than $10 billion in net debt, and he's overseen the reduction of roughly $3 billion in annual operating expenses. There's more work to do to improve Teva's balance sheet, but the company is very clearly on much firmer ground than it was back in 2016-2017.</p>\n<p>Schultz also has the potential to play peacemaker for a number of outstanding lawsuits targeting Teva's role in the opioid crisis. If this litigation can be resolved with minimal cash outlay, Teva's valuation could soar. At just 4 times the company's projected earnings in 2021, Teva is about as cheap as a healthcare stock can get.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/44a30c4dfd6886a29e22d3c6558c3e56\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Bank of America</h2>\n<p>Lastly, bank stock <b>Bank of America</b> (NYSE:BAC) has the look of a company that can be confidently bought hand over fist for the second half of 2021.</p>\n<p>For much of the past decade, the Federal Reserve has kept interest rates at or near historic lows. That's meant less in the way of interest income for banks. But the latest update from the nation's central bank suggests that interest rates could begin creeping up in 2023, a year earlier than previously forecast. Bank of America is the most interest-sensitive money-center bank. According to its first-quarter investor presentation, BofA would generate $8.3 billion in net interest income on a 100-basis-point shift in the interest rate yield curve. Translation: Bank of America's profits should rocket higher beginning in 2023-2024.</p>\n<p>At the same time, BofA has done an outstanding job of controlling its costs and improving its operating efficiency. Investments in digitization have resulted in higher mobile app and digital banking use, which is allowing the company to consolidate some of its branches. Based on an April report from eMarketer, the company effectively controls $0.40 of every $1 spent online in the United States. It's also pivoted its online retail popularity into signing up more than 200 million people to its Prime program worldwide. The fees Amazon collects from Prime help it to undercut its competition on price. And it certainly doesn't hurt that Prime members tend to spend many multiples more than non-Prime shoppers during the course of the year.\nBut it's the company's cloud infrastructure service, Amazon Web Services (AWS), that has truly budded into a star. Since the operating margins associated with cloud infrastructure are considerably higher than what Amazon nets from retail and advertising, AWS' growth is leading to a surge in operating cash flow. If investors were to continue to pay the midpoint of Amazon's operating cash flow multiple over the past decade, it could hit $10,000 a share by 2025.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nBristol Myers Squibb\nPharmaceutical stocks are money machines, and none looks to be more attractive on a valuation basis than Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY).\nOne reason to be excited about this drug developer is its organic growth potential. Eliquis, which was co-developed with Pfizer, has blossomed into the world's leading oral anticoagulant, with sales expected to surpass $10 billion in 2021. Meanwhile, dozens of additional clinical trials are underway for cancer immunotherapy Opdivo, which generated $7 billion in sales last year. This offers plenty of opportunity to expand Opdivo's label and pump up its pricing power.\nAnother reason Bristol Myers Squibb is such an intriguing stock is its November 2019 acquisition of cancer and immunology company Celgene. Buying Celgene brought the blockbuster multiple-myeloma drug Revlimid into the fold. Revlimid has sustainably grown its annual sales by a double-digit percentage for more than a decade, with label expansion, longer duration of use, and pricing power all playing a role. This key treatment, which topped $12 billion in sales last year, is protected from a full onslaught of generic competition until early 2026. Payment processor Mastercard (NYSE:MA) might well be the safest way to take advantage of a steady uptick in consumer and enterprise spending.\nMastercard isn't a cheap stock by any means -- at 36 times Wall Street's forward-year earnings consensus -- but it benefits from a simple numbers game. While economic contractions and recessions are inevitable, these periods of turbulence tend to be short-lived. By comparison, economic expansions often last many years. Buying into Mastercard allows investors to take full advantage of these long periods of economic expansion and robust spending. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Mastercard has the second-highest share of credit-card network purchase volume in the U.S., the leading market for consumption.\nInvestors can also sleep easy with the understanding that Mastercard strictly sticks to payment facilitation. Even though some of its peers also lend, and are therefore able to generate interest income and fees during bull markets, Mastercard has avoided becoming a lender. It's something you'll truly appreciate when a recession strikes. Whereas most financial stocks will be forced to set aside capital to cover credit or loan delinquencies, Mastercard won't have to. This is a big reason it bounces back from recessions quicker than most financial stocks.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nTeva Pharmaceutical Industries\nIf you have an appetite for turnaround plays, brand-name and generic-drug developer Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (NYSE:TEVA) is the stock to buy hand over fist for the second half of 2021. Like Amazon, it's a stock that was added to Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio by either Combs or Weschler and not Buffett.\nWhile there's no denying that Teva has its fair share of hurdles to overcome, the company's turnaround-focused CEO, Kare Schultz, has been a blessing. Since taking the helm less than four years ago, Schultz has helped shave off more than $10 billion in net debt, and he's overseen the reduction of roughly $3 billion in annual operating expenses. There's more work to do to improve Teva's balance sheet, but the company is very clearly on much firmer ground than it was back in 2016-2017.\nSchultz also has the potential to play peacemaker for a number of outstanding lawsuits targeting Teva's role in the opioid crisis. If this litigation can be resolved with minimal cash outlay, Teva's valuation could soar. At just 4 times the company's projected earnings in 2021, Teva is about as cheap as a healthcare stock can get.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nBank of America\nLastly, bank stock Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) has the look of a company that can be confidently bought hand over fist for the second half of 2021.\nFor much of the past decade, the Federal Reserve has kept interest rates at or near historic lows. That's meant less in the way of interest income for banks. But the latest update from the nation's central bank suggests that interest rates could begin creeping up in 2023, a year earlier than previously forecast. Bank of America is the most interest-sensitive money-center bank. According to its first-quarter investor presentation, BofA would generate $8.3 billion in net interest income on a 100-basis-point shift in the interest rate yield curve. Translation: Bank of America's profits should rocket higher beginning in 2023-2024.\nAt the same time, BofA has done an outstanding job of controlling its costs and improving its operating efficiency. Investments in digitization have resulted in higher mobile app and digital banking use, which is allowing the company to consolidate some of its branches. In a race to disrupt residential real estate, one of the largest markets in the world, Opendoor's long-term potential could bring big returns for patient investors.</p>\n<p>Despite the upside, the market hasn't yet appreciated Opendoor's accomplishments; the stock is down more than 50% from its highs. There are three important clues that Opendoor could be a compelling investment idea for bold investors.</p>\n<h3>1. Opendoor is winning the iBuying battle</h3>\n<p>The traditional home-buying process in the United States is slow and handled by multiple parties, including agents, lawyers, inspectors, and bankers. This creates a lot of back and forth paperwork and drags the process out to more than 30 days, on average.</p>\n<p>Opendoor pioneered the concept of \"iBuying,\" where the buying and selling of a house are digitized, and a company like Opendoor works directly with sellers to provide them with a cash offer and a digital closing process. The company then resells the house on the market. The iBuying process cuts out agents and some of the fees associated with traditional closings, such as agent commissions. Opendoor then resells the house on the market and charges a service fee of up to 5% on the transaction.</p>\n<p>After seeing Opendoor steadily grow with its iBuying concept, competitors have also begun to offer iBuying services, including&nbsp;<b>Zillow Group</b>&nbsp;and Offerpad. Because of how capital intensive the business is (a lot of money is needed to buy and sell thousands of houses) and how price competitive the housing market is, these companies are racing to get as big as possible. As the companies buy and sell more homes, they have the ability to become more profitable by leveraging outsourced contractors to save money, and its pricing algorithm improves as it sees more transactions.</p>\n<p>According to iBuyerStats, a website dedicated to tracking the competitors found in iBuying, Opendoor has consistently had the most housing inventory available for sale. It currently has roughly 3,300 houses for sale, 53% more than Zillow and more than four times as many as Offerpad.</p>\n<h3>2. Revenue growth is ahead of schedule</h3>\n<p>When companies go public viaSPACmerger, they lay out a public presentation of their business, often including long-term growth projections. Opendoor laid out its pre-merger investor presentation about a year ago, in September 2020.</p>\n<p>Fast forward to the company's recent 2021 Q2 earnings call. CEO and founder Eric Wu said on the earnings call, \"... based on our current progress, our second half revenue run rate is on track to exceed our 2023 target, a full two years ahead of plan.\"</p>\n<p>In other words, if Opendoor were to operate for 12 months at the level the business currently is, it would surpass the $9.8 billion in revenue it projected for 2023. This is an underlooked point because if Opendoor is already two years ahead of its original growth curve, where will it be by 2023? Sure, a dip in the housing market or other events could disrupt the company's speed of growth, but Opendoor is showing the world that the business is operating at a high level.</p>\n<h3>3. SPACs are out of favor with the market... opportunity?</h3>\n<p>Investors have overlooked this strong performance, focusing instead on the fact that Opendoor joined the public market via SPAC merger. It has hardly mattered what operating results or earnings have looked like for former SPACs; the stock market has been selling off virtually all SPAC-based stocks for several months now.</p>\n<p>Investors have been spooked by a handful of \"bad apple\" companies turning up fraudulent, and other companies have wildly missed on the projections they made before going public. These instances have burned those involved, and investors have taken a much more cautious attitude toward SPACs as a whole.</p>\n<p>But if companies like Opendoor keep blowing away estimates, the market is likely to come around eventually. When it does, the stock price could move aggressively. If we take Eric Wu's comments about revenue and assume that Opendoor does sales of $10 billion in 2022 (in other words, Opendoor stops growing and maintains its current pace over the following year), the stock currently trades at aprice-to-sales(P/S) ratio of just 1.0. That's a bargain-bin valuation.</p>\n<p>Competitor Zillow Group trades at a P/S ratio of more than 3, reflecting Opendoor's discount as a former SPAC.</p>\n<h3>Here's the bottom line</h3>\n<p>Real estate is a huge market, and it's a complicated industry because of the clash between traditional agents and the \"new kids\" on the block trying to bring technology into homebuying. With a currency-converted top-end target of about $92 a share, Nio could drive investors to a 125% return, if this price target proves accurate.</p>\n<p>The Nio growth story has both macro and micro tailwinds. On a macro basis, China is the largest auto market in the world, and is therefore the top opportunity for auto stocks to benefit from a multi-decade vehicle replacement shift to EVs. With the country's EV industry still nascent, there's plenty of market share up for grabs.</p>\n<p>On a company-specific basis, Nio has built up an impressive cash hoard and has demonstrated that it can ramp up production. If the loftiest price target of 51 Canadian dollars ($40.70 U.S.) were to become a reality, Canopy Growth would rocket higher by 126%.</p>\n<p>The optimism surrounding the company probably has to do with its leading market share in the Canadian weed industry, as well as its massive cash war chest. According to the company, it maintained a 15.2% share of weed sales in tracked provinces in the calendar second quarter.&nbsp; That's an impressive figure given how competitive the Canadian cannabis landscape has become over the past three years.</p>\n<p>Furthermore, Canopy Growth ended June with CA$2.05 billion in cash and cash equivalents, which means it has more than enough capital to continue executing on its strategy. If you're wondering why it's so flush with cash, look no further than multiple direct equity investments from spirits giant <b>Constellation Brands</b>.</p>\n<p>However -- and this is a big \"however\" -- the Canadian pot industry and Canopy Growth have been an utter disaster since marijuana was legalized in October 2018. Canadian regulators threw cold water on the industry by delaying cultivation and sales license applications. Meanwhile, Canopy Growth did itself no favors by over-expanding its production capacity and grossly overpaying for acquisitions. The highest Wall Street price target forecasts that Penn National will head to $151 a share, which would represent a cool 113% return from where it closed the previous week.</p>\n<p>Penn's overwhelming success since the pandemic struck can be tied to two key factors. First, it owns 43 gaming or horse-racing properties in 20 states. Whereas most casinos were pulverized by the pandemic, Penn National escaped much of this pain since its properties aren't located solely in tourist destinations. In other words, Penn's gaming properties encourage local foot traffic, which is one reason it's so successful.</p>\n<p>Arguably the bigger reason Penn has been on fire since the pandemic began is the 36% equity stake it took in online sports-betting service Barstool Sports in February 2020. Even with Chinese regulators cracking down on domestic tech companies, the highest price target on Wall Street implies up to 108% upside for China's second-largest e-commerce stock.</p>\n<p>Perhaps one reason analysts feel so comfortable with JD is the company's markedly different operating model from <b>Alibaba</b>, China's leading e-commerce company. Alibaba primarily operates as a third-party online marketplace, and was hit with a record $2.8 billion antitrust fine from Chinese regulators this past April.</p>\n<p>Meanwhile, JD almost exclusively sells goods directly to Chinese consumers. This means it operates an <b>Amazon</b>-like business model, whereby it controls its inventory and logistics. This makes it far less likely that JD falls under the microscope of Chinese regulators.</p>\n<p>The great thing about JD is that it's expanded its reach beyond just e-commerce. More specifically, it's generating revenue from advertising, healthcare services, and cloud services. The latter is particularly intriguing given that cloud margins are substantially higher than online retail margins. Based on the most aggressive price target of $78, Plug Power could climb 212%, compared to where it closed last week ($24.99).</p>\n<p>The bull thesis for Plug Power is very similar to that of Nio. Namely, we're witnessing a shift away from combustion-engine vehicles and toward green energy-powered vehicles. This shift won't happen overnight, but will instead provide a multi-decade opportunity for consumers and businesses to make the shift.</p>\n<p>Plug Power really excited investors in January when the company forged two significant joint ventures just a few days apart. First, SK Group took a 10% equity stake in Plug Power, with the intent of working with Plug to bring hydrogen fuel-cell-powered cars and refilling stations to South Korea. Days later, Plug linked up with French automaker <b>Renault</b> to launch Hyvia, which'll target Europe's light commercial vehicle market.</p>\n<p>At this point, there's little doubt that Plug Power's sales growth will impress for years to come. Between 2020 and 2024, the company anticipates growing its gross billings from $337 million to about $1.7 billion. The real question is whether investors can support a large valuation without profits. Stocks roared back Tuesday and were up again Wednesday.</p>\n<p>Yes, the Delta variant of Covid-19 has led to an alarming uptick in coronavirus cases in the United States and around the globe. But many experts think the massive number of vaccinations that have already taken place will prevent the economy and markets from going into another tailspin.</p>\n<p>If you're investing for the long haul, the best thing you can do is ride out this wave of volatility.</p>\n<p>\"Stay invested,\" said Seema Shah, chief strategist at Principal Global Investors. Shah told CNN Business that the Delta variant is highly unlikely to stop the economic recovery in the US and other parts of the developed world where vaccination rates are high.</p>\n<p>\"The vaccine is effective,\" she said. \"If cases are rising but hospitalization rates remain low, then the reopening measures from governments will continue.\"</p>\n<p>Still, Shah conceded, investors should be more selective. After all, the S&amp;P 500 has nearly doubled from its pandemic lows in March 2020, and not all stocks and sectors will maintain their momentum.</p>\n<p>She thinks defensive sectors might start to pull back a bit. Those include utilities, health care and others companies that pay big dividends and are considered good bond proxies.</p>\n<p>The FAANGs and other big tech stocks, many of which have strong earnings momentum and tons of cash, should continue to rally, she said.</p>\n<p><b>Not the time to bail on the market</b></p>\n<p>So should economic recovery plays in the travel and retail sectors that have pulled back lately on Covid concerns. United (UAL), for example, issued an upbeat outlook after the closing bell Tuesday.</p>\n<p>\"Airlines have been beaten up,\" Shah said. \"But if you assume the reopening will continue, they should enjoy a significant bounceback.\"</p>\n<p>Stocks may remain bumpy for the foreseeable future, but that shouldn't dissuade investors from sticking with their longer-term investments.</p>\n<p>\"The uncertainty of the past couple of days is warranted for the short term,\" said Peter van der Welle, multi-asset strategist at Robeco. \"But there should be a second leg to the reflation trade.\"</p>\n<p>Van der Welle noted that there are many reasons to be optimistic about continued gains in consumer spending and retail sales, despite a recent drop in consumer confidence.</p>\n<p><b>Buy the dips</b></p>\n<p>Any wariness on the part of consumers — and investors, for that matter — could turn out to be fleeting.</p>\n<p>\"If you are a long-term investor, take advantage of this volatility and add to positions in companies and sectors you really like,\" said Phil Orlando, chief equity market strategist at Federated Hermes.</p>\n<p>He he belives stocks in cyclical industries that have gotten hit because of Delta variant fears could enjoy the biggest rebounds.</p>\n<p>\"There are stocks that have hit an air pocket that could be very attractive. Big drops can be scary.\nBut dumping stocks on days when the Dow is getting whacked is usually the wrong thing to do. Stocks roared back Tuesday and were up again Wednesday.\nYes, the Delta variant of Covid-19 has led to an alarming uptick in coronavirus cases in the United States and around the globe. But many experts think the massive number of vaccinations that have already taken place will prevent the economy and markets from going into another tailspin.\nIf you're investing for the long haul, the best thing you can do is ride out this wave of volatility.\n\"Stay invested,\" said Seema Shah, chief strategist at Principal Global Investors. Shah told CNN Business that the Delta variant is highly unlikely to stop the economic recovery in the US and other parts of the developed world where vaccination rates are high.\n\"The vaccine is effective,\" she said. \"If cases are rising but hospitalization rates remain low, then the reopening measures from governments will continue.\"\nStill, Shah conceded, investors should be more selective. After all, the S&P 500 has nearly doubled from its pandemic lows in March 2020, and not all stocks and sectors will maintain their momentum.\nShe thinks defensive sectors might start to pull back a bit. Those include utilities, health care and others companies that pay big dividends and are considered good bond proxies.\nThe FAANGs and other big tech stocks, many of which have strong earnings momentum and tons of cash, should continue to rally, she said.\nNot the time to bail on the market\nSo should economic recovery plays in the travel and retail sectors that have pulled back lately on Covid concerns. United (UAL), for example, issued an upbeat outlook after the closing bell Tuesday.\n\"Airlines have been beaten up,\" Shah said. \"But if you assume the reopening will continue, they should enjoy a significant bounceback.\"\nStocks may remain bumpy for the foreseeable future, but that shouldn't dissuade investors from sticking with their longer-term investments.\n\"The uncertainty of the past couple of days is warranted for the short term,\" said Peter van der Welle, multi-asset strategist at Robeco. \"But there should be a second leg to the reflation trade.\"\nVan der Welle noted that there are many reasons to be optimistic about continued gains in consumer spending and retail sales, despite a recent drop in consumer confidence.\nBuy the dips\nAny wariness on the part of consumers — and investors, for that matter — could turn out to be fleeting.\n\"If you are a long-term investor, take advantage of this volatility and add to positions in companies and sectors you really like,\" said Phil Orlando, chief equity market strategist at Federated Hermes.\nHe he belives stocks in cyclical industries that have gotten hit because of Delta variant fears could enjoy the biggest rebounds.\n\"There are stocks that have hit an air pocket that could be very attractive.
