That translates to around $104.06 per American depositary share (ADS), Bilibili said.\nGross proceeds from the listing are expected to be 20.2 billion Hong Kong dollars ($2.6 billion). That figure could rise if the underwriting investment banks decide to trigger the so-called over-allotment option to issue another 3.75 million shares.\nBilibili will begin trading in Hong Kong on Mar. 29 under the code “9626.”\nIn October, CNBC reported Bilibili’s secondary listing could raise up to $1.5 billion. Then that figure jumped to over $2 billion as Bilibili’s Nasdaq-listed shares continued to rally. The U.S. stock is up over 400% compared to one year ago.\nBilibili makes money through mobile gaming and selling virtual gifts to users who then give them to their favorite live streamers.\nBy carrying out a secondary listing in Hong Kong, Bilibili follows the likes of other U.S.-listed Chinese companies including Alibaba and JD.com.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":510,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":239123109363888,"gmtCreate":1699416995774,"gmtModify":1699416999918,"author":{"id":"3577257263388457","authorId":"3577257263388457","name":"User17392","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9948d7a9088517a9da0e2457a697af87","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3577257263388457","authorIdStr":"3577257263388457"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Slay. The partners aim to draw third-party investment, begin production by 2022 and eventually produce 40,000 12-inch wafers a month. Its shares rose as much as 3% Thursday.
\n
China wants to build a coterie of technology giants that can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Intel Corp. and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. While specifics of that endeavor won’t emerge for months, Premier Li Keqiang has pledged to boost spending and drive research into cutting-edge chips in the country’s latest five-year targets, laying out a technological blueprint to vie for global influence with the U.S.
\n
Beijing is moving swiftly to cut a dependence on the West for crucial components like chips, an issue that became more urgent after a global shortage of semiconductors worsened during the pandemic. Washington has also blacklisted major Chinese tech firms including SMIC, cutting it off from American technology while severely impairing its ability to procure the chipmaking gear it needs. It remains unclear whether the Biden administration might allow U.S. firms to resume selling to SMIC on a large scale, or ease up on pressuring allies in Europe and elsewhere to ringfence the Chinese company.
\n
Tie-ups with the government may prove essential in achieving the country’s ambitions. Chinese chipmakers aim to progress past the more mature 28 nm nodes -- now used in industries from automaking to TVs -- but need billions of dollars and years of trial-and-error to get into more sophisticated semiconductors for gadgets like smartphones.
\n
SMIC’s Shenzhen project would mark one of the few plants in the country focused on larger 12-inch rather than 8-inch wafers, which save on cost because more chips can be spliced from it, but are far more difficult to fabricate. SMIC already operates fabs or fabrication plants in four cities, including Beijing and Shanghai. The partners aim to draw third-party investment, begin production by 2022 and eventually produce 40,000 12-inch wafers a month. Its shares rose as much as 3% Thursday.\nChina wants to build a coterie of technology giants that can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Intel Corp. and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. While specifics of that endeavor won’t emerge for months, Premier Li Keqiang has pledged to boost spending and drive research into cutting-edge chips in the country’s latest five-year targets, laying out a technological blueprint to vie for global influence with the U.S.\nBeijing is moving swiftly to cut a dependence on the West for crucial components like chips, an issue that became more urgent after a global shortage of semiconductors worsened during the pandemic. Washington has also blacklisted major Chinese tech firms including SMIC, cutting it off from American technology while severely impairing its ability to procure the chipmaking gear it needs. It remains unclear whether the Biden administration might allow U.S. firms to resume selling to SMIC on a large scale, or ease up on pressuring allies in Europe and elsewhere to ringfence the Chinese company.\nTie-ups with the government may prove essential in achieving the country’s ambitions. Chinese chipmakers aim to progress past the more mature 28 nm nodes -- now used in industries from automaking to TVs -- but need billions of dollars and years of trial-and-error to get into more sophisticated semiconductors for gadgets like smartphones.\nSMIC’s Shenzhen project would mark one of the few plants in the country focused on larger 12-inch rather than 8-inch wafers, which save on cost because more chips can be spliced from it, but are far more difficult to fabricate. SMIC already operates fabs or fabrication plants in four cities, including Beijing and Shanghai. It will own 55% of the proposed new plant, with a government-owned entity owning up to a 23% stake.\n“Silicon wafer is a fundamental raw material in semiconductor manufacturing, yet it is also one of the areas in China’s semiconductor supply chain that has the lowest level of local production, especially 12-inch silicon wafers,” Li Wei, executive vice president of the National Silicon Industry Group, a state-backed wafer manufacturer, said at an industry conference in Shanghai Wednesday.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":149,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":322963657,"gmtCreate":1615767755679,"gmtModify":1704786170829,"author":{"id":"3577257263388457","authorId":"3577257263388457","name":"User17392","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9948d7a9088517a9da0e2457a697af87","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3577257263388457","authorIdStr":"3577257263388457"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Please like and comment ","listText":"Please like and comment ","text":"Please like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/322963657","repostId":"1199092369","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1199092369","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1615766818,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1199092369?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-15 08:06","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Breakout or breakdown? But Paulsen believes it’s more likely the group will endure through higher rates.\n“It might have less to do with yields than it does with just facing a glass ceiling,” he added. “I’mnot totally convinced that we’re breaking down. We might just be hitting the ceiling, bouncing down for a minute and maybe going to take it out yet at some point here in the future.”\nPaulsen contends Big Tech and growth, which he classifies as “New-Era” stocks, will retain their attractiveness to investors.\n“If it does ultimately achieve a new relative-price high, might its leadership persevere and perhaps even strengthen? That is what happened the last two times the Nasdaq spent multiple years as an underperformer,” he wrote.\nDespite his optimism, Paulsen acknowledges it’s reasonable to expect a phase of underperformance, consolidation or even a temporary meltdown.\n“It’s important to realize that we’re just one year into this new economic expansion — probably both the expansion and the bull market are going to be a multi-year event in which tech will continue to play a fairly dominant role,” he said. “During the periods of time where cyclicality takes a hit and it’s going to in periods, I think tech is going to hold up your portfolio.”\nSo, Paulsen, who oversees about $1 billion in assets under management, isn’t bailing on Big Tech.\n“We’re underweighted tech, but not by a lot,” said Paulsen, who is overweight areas such as small caps, value and international stocks. “It’s likely to underperform over the next year as the economy really booms here, but I’m not totally sold that it will.”\nOn “Trading Nation” last September,Paulsen,a long-time market bull, recommended taking advantage of Wall Street pessimism while you still can. Since that appearance, the Nasdaq is up 20%, and he’s maintaining his enthusiasm.\n“It’s still going to be the leader of the future,” Paulsen said.\nThe Nasdaq dropped 0.6% to 13,319.87 on Friday as the benchmark 10-year Treasury Note yield hit 1.64%, its highest level in 13 months. But the tech heavy index, which is 6% off its all-time high, still ended the week up more than 3%.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":97,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":328180840,"gmtCreate":1615506387380,"gmtModify":1704783736755,"author":{"id":"3577257263388457","authorId":"3577257263388457","name":"User17392","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9948d7a9088517a9da0e2457a697af87","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3577257263388457","authorIdStr":"3577257263388457"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Need like and comment ","listText":"Need like and comment ","text":"Need like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/328180840","repostId":"1117588517","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1117588517","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1615483663,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1117588517?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-12 01:27","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Coupang spikes 85% on its first day of trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1117588517","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Coupang shares opened at $64.8 each on Thursday, about 85% higher than the company’s IPO price.Inves","content":"
Coupang shares opened at $64.8 each on Thursday, about 85% higher than the company’s IPO price.

Investors looking to buy shares of South Korean e-commerce firm Coupang when it goes public in New York should consider if the company has what it takes to be profitable in the future.

That’s the advice Daniel Yoo, head of global asset allocation at Yuanta Securities, Korea, has for clients.

“What you really need to know is whether or not, in the business environment of Korea and e-commerce, can they be able to generate a huge, profitable return on capital,” Yoo said Thursday on CNBC’s “Street Signs Asia.”

Coupang is set to debut on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker “CPNG” later in the day when U.S. markets open.

The company said it had priced 130 million shares at $35 apiece, raising $4.55 billion and valuing the company around $60 billion. That makes Coupang the largest IPO in the U.S. this year and one of the top 25 biggest listings of all time stateside, by deal size.

The price is also above the company’s most recent expected range of between $32 and $34 a share.

Market leader

Yoo explained that the valuation and IPO price likely rose because Coupang is the only e-commerce company in South Korea that showed a sizeable gain in market share last year. He said its market size rose from 18.1% in 2019 to about 24.6% last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Most of the other competitors really did not show any type of changes in terms of market share,” he said. Coupang’s rivals include eBay-owned Gmarket, WeMakePrice, Naver Shopping among others.

“The fact is that (Coupang is) becoming the biggest e-commerce business within Korea and 24% market share, I think, it might actually even rise further,” Yoo said. “It is possible that they can actually gain as much as 30%+ over the next few years.” That, he explained, would justify why the company’s IPO price has increased.

Coupang’s regulatory filing showed the company sustained losses over eight quarters through Dec. 31. But a sharp jump in sales last year helped narrow net losses from $770.2 million in 2019 to $567.6 million in 2020

Comparisons with Alibaba, Amazon

The company, whose prominent backers include SoftBank’s Vision Fund and Sequoia Capital, has drawn comparisons with Amazon and Alibaba. Those firms have become tech behemoths after making their public debuts.

But Yoo said that the consumer markets in the U.S. and China are significantly larger than South Korea. So, even if Coupang is able to increase its market share, he said it is unlikely to see the same kind of sales growth the other two companies saw in the last decade.

South Korea’s e-commerce market has an estimated value of $90.1 billion in 2020 with an annual growth rate of 22.3%, according to data analytics firm GlobalData.
