to the report announced on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo, the new price of Model Y will be RMB 387,900.
\n
Tesla reported a rebound in domestic China shipments in August. The company shipped 12,885 units, an increase of almost 50% from July when deliveries plunged 69%.
\n
In March, the company raised the price of the Y Model by about $1,226. The price hike was announced by Grace Tao, Tesla's vice president of external affairs.
\n
In that month, Tesla raised the Model Y Long Range price in China to RMB 347,900 and the Performance to RMB 377,900.
\n
The Model Y went on sale in China at the beginning of 2021 and garnered enough orders to exhaust supplies for the first three months of the year. At that time, the vehicle was priced at RMB 339,900.
\n
Last month, Tesla's Giga Shanghai reached a production capacity of 1,000 Model Y vehicles per day.
\n
The Model Y production rate at Giga Shanghai is higher than that of the Model 3, which is produced at 800 vehicles per day.
\n
Giga Shanghai has become Tesla's export hub, as was evident from the July China sales data reported by the China Passenger Car Association. The EV giant exported about 74% of the cars it manufactured in China.
\n
Why It Matters: Tesla seems to be losing ground in China with dropping sales and rising prices of its vehicles. The China Passenger Car Association reported that Tesla's sales in China fell to 8,621 cars in July, down nearly 70% from June.\nTesla accounted for 3.9% of July sales of battery electric vehicles in China, down from 12.6% in June.\nTesla faces stiff competition from local Chinese rivals like Xpeng Inc., Nio Inc., Li Auto Inc and BYD Company Limited.\nEarlier in April, the company faced protests by Telsa owners at the Shanghai auto show over poor car quality and various safety concerns.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":476,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":815666493,"gmtCreate":1630676332212,"gmtModify":1676530373354,"author":{"id":"3577272005829901","authorId":"3577272005829901","name":"55ewell","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4f2825fcb45f23295bcb39c75c2548ad","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3577272005829901","idStr":"3577272005829901"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Li Auto(LI)$rubbish ","listText":"$Li Auto(LI)$rubbish ","text":"$Li Auto(LI)$rubbish","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fb08f843d4badf5f9b58591e3d326729","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/815666493","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":474,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":812217149,"gmtCreate":1630590244181,"gmtModify":1676530349257,"author":{"id":"3577272005829901","authorId":"3577272005829901","name":"55ewell","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4f2825fcb45f23295bcb39c75c2548ad","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3577272005829901","idStr":"3577272005829901"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Li Auto(LI)$ wake up ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️","listText":"$Li Auto(LI)$ wake up ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️","text":"$Li Auto(LI)$ wake up ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0558f49d335bc503ef35ef5e849969f6","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/812217149","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":644,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":812214664,"gmtCreate":1630590219458,"gmtModify":1676530349242,"author":{"id":"3577272005829901","authorId":"3577272005829901","name":"55ewell","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4f2825fcb45f23295bcb39c75c2548ad","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3577272005829901","idStr":"3577272005829901"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$come on ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️","listText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$come on ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️","text":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$come on ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/244df45f68d2e73644a592fa232bb2f2","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/812214664","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":801,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3575044403730346","authorId":"3575044403730346","name":"暴风里的鸡蛋壳","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b41dfc8827b17f2442f628bf066fb51e","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"authorIdStr":"3575044403730346","idStr":"3575044403730346"},"content":"On September 1st, according to a later LatePost report, ByteDance plans to sell its securities business, with an overall valuation of about 500-1 billion RMB. Namely, investors have been closely watching for months to hear when officials will begin tapering their purchases of Treasury and mortgage securities, which have been taking place at a pace of $120 billion per month for more than a year during the pandemic.
\n
This asset purchase program had been a major policy underpinning U.S. equity markets this year, providing liquidity throughout the economic crisis induced by the virus. But as the economy makes headway in recovering, Fed officials' talk around pulling in the reins on this program has started to increase.
\n
Last week, Federal Reserve officials signaled the announcement of the start of tapering was edging closer. According to the meeting minutes from the Federal Reserve's July meeting, most monetary policymakers believed the economy will have made enough progress toward recovering to warrant tapering.
\n
\"Most participants noted that, provided that the economy were to evolve broadly as they anticipated, they judged that it could be appropriate to start reducing the pace of asset purchases this year because they saw the Committee’s 'substantial further progress' criterion as satisfied with respect to the price-stability goal and as close to being satisfied with respect to the maximum employment goal,\" according to the FOMC minutes.
\n
But as many pundits have noted, the central bank still has a host of meetings left in 2021 to serve as a platform for further discussing or announcing tapering. As a result, Jackson Hole this week may cause few ripples, with policymakers like Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell sticking to their previously telegraphed language about waiting to see further improvements in the labor market before escalating talk of tapering further.
\n
\"Jackson Hole next week is certainly a target for when we might hear some actual firm language around taper. I'm not really expecting much out of Jackson Hole,\" Garrett Melson, Natixis Investment Managers Solutions portfolio strategist, told Yahoo Finance last week. \"We're more in the camp that we probably start to hear something around the November meeting. Perhaps they're as quick as December to start actually implementing the taper. But I'm still more in the camp that January is probably when we begin to see a slow taper, probably in the ballpark of $15 billion per month.\"
\n
\"They're still very, very dovish. They're slightly less dovish,\" he added. \"But that's a little semantics at this point. Taper is very well documented and well known. We know it's coming. It's just a matter of timing and really shouldn't surprise many investors out there.\"
\n
Federal Reserve Board Chair Jerome Powell testifies before Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs hearing to examine the Semiannual Monetary Policy Report to Congress, July 15, 2021, on Capitol Hill. (AP Photo/Jose Luis Magana, file)ASSOCIATED PRESS
\n
As for the ultimate market impact of tapering, if the outcome is anything like the response from the last announcement of tapering in 2023, investors might brace for a momentary bout of volatility and some sector rotation beneath the surface.
\n
\"In 2013, Fed Chair Bernanke's comments about tapering catalyzed a five-day, 40 bp backup in 10-year yields and a 5% drop in the S&P 500,\" said David Kostin, Goldman Sachs' chief U.S. equity strategist, in a note last week. \"The initial signal from the taper tantrum ultimately proved fleeting during a year with extremely strong returns for equities.\"
\n
\"The S&P 500 rebounded 5% in the roughly two months following the tantrum, led higher by the materials, consumer discretionary, and health care sectors,\" he added. \"By December, the S&P 500 had posted a full-year return of 32%. As the Fed reiterated its commitment to accommodative policy, growth outperformed value and cyclical stocks outperformed defensives.\"
\n
Personal spending, income
\n
New economic data on consumer spending and income will also be in focus later this week, with reports on both metrics due for release on Friday.
\n
Consensus economists expect to see personal spending slow to just a 0.4% monthly clip in July, decelerating from June's 1.0% increase.
\n
Just last week, the Commerce Department's data showed retail sales fell more than expected in July, dipping by 1.1%. The print pointed to more moderation in spending as the impact of stimulus checks earlier this year waned further, and lowered the bar for the Bureau of Economic Analysis' monthly personal spending data.
\n
Other data has also underscored the slowdown in consumer spending, especially given the recent spread of the Delta variant starting in the middle of summer.
\n
\"Although services spending started strong in July boosted by the holiday, our aggregated BAC credit and debit card data suggest services spending, particularly for travel and leisure, slowed down noticeably in the second half of the month, potentially due to rising Delta concerns,\" Bank of America economist Michelle Meyer wrote in a note Friday.
\n
Friday's consumer spending report will also come with data on personal income, which is also expected to have ticked up only slightly on a monthly basis. Namely, investors have been closely watching for months to hear when officials will begin tapering their purchases of Treasury and mortgage securities, which have been taking place at a pace of $120 billion per month for more than a year during the pandemic.\nThis asset purchase program had been a major policy underpinning U.S. equity markets this year, providing liquidity throughout the economic crisis induced by the virus. But as the economy makes headway in recovering, Fed officials' talk around pulling in the reins on this program has started to increase.\nLast week, Federal Reserve officials signaled the announcement of the start of tapering was edging closer. According to the meeting minutes from the Federal Reserve's July meeting, most monetary policymakers believed the economy will have made enough progress toward recovering to warrant tapering.\n\"Most participants noted that, provided that the economy were to evolve broadly as they anticipated, they judged that it could be appropriate to start reducing the pace of asset purchases this year because they saw the Committee’s 'substantial further progress' criterion as satisfied with respect to the price-stability goal and as close to being satisfied with respect to the maximum employment goal,\" according to the FOMC minutes.\nBut as many pundits have noted, the central bank still has a host of meetings left in 2021 to serve as a platform for further discussing or announcing tapering. As a result, Jackson Hole this week may cause few ripples, with policymakers like Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell sticking to their previously telegraphed language about waiting to see further improvements in the labor market before escalating talk of tapering further.\n\"Jackson Hole next week is certainly a target for when we might hear some actual firm language around taper. But I'm still more in the camp that January is probably when we begin to see a slow taper, probably in the ballpark of $15 billion per month.\"\n\"They're still very, very dovish. They're slightly less dovish,\" he added. \"But that's a little semantics at this point. Taper is very well documented and well known. We know it's coming. It's just a matter of timing and really shouldn't surprise many investors out there.\"\nFederal Reserve Board Chair Jerome Powell testifies before Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs hearing to examine the Semiannual Monetary Policy Report to Congress, July 15, 2021, on Capitol Hill. (AP Photo/Jose Luis Magana, file)ASSOCIATED PRESS\nAs for the ultimate market impact of tapering, if the outcome is anything like the response from the last announcement of tapering in 2023, investors might brace for a momentary bout of volatility and some sector rotation beneath the surface.\n\"In 2013, Fed Chair Bernanke's comments about tapering catalyzed a five-day, 40 bp backup in 10-year yields and a 5% drop in the S&P 500,\" said David Kostin, Goldman Sachs' chief U.S. equity strategist, in a note last week. \"The initial signal from the taper tantrum ultimately proved fleeting during a year with extremely strong returns for equities.\"\n\"The S&P 500 rebounded 5% in the roughly two months following the tantrum, led higher by the materials, consumer discretionary, and health care sectors,\" he added. \"By December, the S&P 500 had posted a full-year return of 32%. As the Fed reiterated its commitment to accommodative policy, growth outperformed value and cyclical stocks outperformed defensives.\"\nPersonal spending, income\nNew economic data on consumer spending and income will also be in focus later this week, with reports on both metrics due for release on Friday.\nConsensus economists expect to see personal spending slow to just a 0.4% monthly clip in July, decelerating from June's 1.0% increase.\nJust last week, the Commerce Department's data showed retail sales fell more than expected in July, dipping by 1.1%. The print pointed to more moderation in spending as the impact of stimulus checks earlier this year waned further, and lowered the bar for the Bureau of Economic Analysis' monthly personal spending data.\nOther data has also underscored the slowdown in consumer spending, especially given the recent spread of the Delta variant starting in the middle of summer.\n\"Although services spending started strong in July boosted by the holiday, our aggregated BAC credit and debit card data suggest services spending, particularly for travel and leisure, slowed down noticeably in the second half of the month, potentially due to rising Delta concerns,\" Bank of America economist Michelle Meyer wrote in a note Friday.\nFriday's consumer spending report will also come with data on personal income, which is also expected to have ticked up only slightly on a monthly basis. Economists look for a 0.1% increase in July, which would match the pace from the prior month.\nEven with the deceleration in income, however, the personal savings rate may have increased as an early round of child tax credit payments helped offset a slowing pace of income growth, some economists noted.\n\"The advance child tax credit payments delivered this month translated into a lower tax burden and therefore a 1% month-over-month boost to disposable income, consequently leading to a rise in the savings rate to 10.0% from 9.4% in June,\" Meyer predicted.\nEconomic calendar\n\nMonday: Chicago Fed National Activity Index, July (0.09 in June); Markit U.S. Manufacturing PMI, August preliminary (62.8 expected, 63.4 in July); Markit U.S. Services PMI, August preliminary (59.0 expected, 59.9 in July); Markit U.S. Composite PMI, August preliminary (59.9 in July); Existing home sales, month-on-month, July (-0.3% expected, 1.4% in June)\nTuesday: Richmond Fed Manufacturing Index, August (25 expected, 27 in July); New home sales, month-on-month, July (3.6% expected, -6.6% in June)\nWednesday: MBA Mortgage Applications, week ended August 20 (-3.9% during prior week); Durable goods orders, July preliminary (-0.2% expected, 0.9% in June); Non-defense capital goods orders excluding aircraft, July preliminary (0.5% expected, 0.7% in June); Non-defense capital goods shipments excluding aircraft, July preliminary (0.6% in June)\nThursday: Initial jobless claims, week ended August 21 (352,000 expected, 348,000 during prior week); Continuing claims, week ended August 14 (2.780 million expected, 2.820 million during prior week); GDP annualized quarter-over-quarter, Q2 second estimate (6.6% expected, 6.5% in prior print); Personal consumption, Q2 second estimate (12.3% expected, 11.8% in prior print); Core PCE quarter-over-quarter Q2 second estimate (6.1% expected, 6.1% in prior print); Kansas City Fed Manufacturing Activity Index, August (30 in prior print)\nFriday: Advanced goods trade balance, July (-$90.9 billion expected, -$91.2 billion in June); Wholesale inventories, month-over-month, July preliminary (1.0% expected, 1.1% in June); Personal income, July (0.2% expected, 0.1% in June); Personal spending, July (0.4% expected, 1.0% in June); PCE core deflator, month-on-month, July (0.3% expected, 0.4% in June); PCE core deflator, year-on-year, July (3.6% expected, 3.5% in June); University of Michigan Sentiment, August final (71.0 expected, 70.2 in prior print)\n\nEarnings calendar\n\nMonday: No notable reports scheduled for release\nTuesday: Advance Auto Parts (AAP) before market open; Intuit (INTU) after market close\nWednesday: Best Buy (BBY) before market open; Salesforce (CRM), Autodesk (ADSK), Ulta Beauty (ULTA) after market close\nThursday: The JM Smucker Co. For context, in Q4 lumber inflation pulled gross margin down ~30 bps and likely worsened sequentially. On SG&A, assuming the per sq ft 2-year stack holds from Q4 (+24%), SG&A should lever 360 to 400 bps,” noted Simeon Gutman, equity analyst at Morgan Stanley.

“In our model, this combination produces EPS of $3.55 to $3.85 vs consensus at $2.95. In the last four quarters, on average, Home Depot has beaten earnings estimates about 2%.The Atlanta, Georgia-based company’s shares rose over 20% so far this year. Home Depot’s better-than-expected results, which will be announced on Tuesday, could help the stock hit new all-time highs. But the stock’s performance could hinge on margins.“We expect a 25% to 30% Q1’21 comp as top-line strength likely continued through the quarter. We model gross margin down 40 bps. For context, in Q4 lumber inflation pulled gross margin down ~30 bps and likely worsened sequentially. On SG&A, assuming the per sq ft 2-year stack holds from Q4 (+24%), SG&A should lever 360 to 400 bps,” noted Simeon Gutman, equity analyst at Morgan Stanley.“In our model, this combination produces EPS of $3.55 to $3.85 vs consensus at $2.95. While a ’21 guide was not provided, if the ’20 top-line exit rate held through ’21, HD would expect a flat to slightly positive comp and an EBIT margin of at least 14%.”WALMART: The Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer is expected to report its first-quarter earnings of $1.21 per share, which represents year-over-year growth of about 47% from $1.18 per share seen in the same period a year ago. However, the multinational retail corporation that operates a chain of hypermarkets’ revenue would decline about 2% to $131.8 billion. In the last four quarters, on average, the retail giant has beaten earnings estimates about 9%.“We raise 1Q22 EPS estimate to $1.23 from $1.22, on stronger Walmart U.S. comps, more modest SG&A deleverage, offsetting lower International segment revenues on divestitures, and remain above Street’s $1.21. We raise our Walmart U.S. comps to +0.5%, ahead of Street’s +0.3%, and our updated estimates now imply 2-year stack growth of +10.5% Y/Y, in-line with 4Q21,” noted Oliver Chen, equity analyst at Cowen.“We expect a tailwind from stimulus, and improved apparel and other general merchandise categories, offset by grocery and other essential categories normalizing. That’s pushing up trip costs for the peak summer season as carriers reboot revenue management tools -- which raise fares in line with stronger seat demand -- after a year in which planes often flew with rows of empty seats.

“I haven’t been super-pleased with the prices,” said Jackson Ralston, 29, of Lake Dallas, Texas, who is monitoring daily Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Flight fare alerts to attend a friend’s bachelor party this summer. Current ticket prices from Dallas to Manchester, New Hampshire, for the planned weekend at a lake are close to $600.

“I’m debating whether or not I’ll need to fly into more of a major hub over there and just rent a car and drive up,” he said.

The hit to consumer wallets is buoying airlines that have had to rely on billions of dollars in federal aid to weather a collapse in demand caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Coupled with deep cost cuts last year, the fare recovery is making carriers including Delta Air Lines Inc (NYSE:DAL). and United Airlines Holdings (NASDAQ:UAL) Inc. more confident that their run of red ink will end in the third quarter.

Airlines Rally as U.S. Travel Rebound Quickens Into Summer

Airfares jumped a record 10.2% in April from the prior month, the U.S. Labor Department reported May 12, reflecting a surge of demand as cooped-up consumers returned to the skies.

Compared with the level in the first quarter, the median round-trip fare has climbed 12% to $357.36, according to TripActions Inc., a corporate travel manager that collects fares from global ticket-distribution systems. Those three months are a rough proxy for the U.S. summer buying season as people plan vacations and weekend trips.

The price increases are likely to stick, making the ultra-low fares of a year ago a distant memory. In the U.S. domestic market, fares will average $283 for the period of June-August, a 35% increase from last year and only 4% below the level of summer 2019, according to a May 18 fare forecast from Hopper Inc., a travel search and analytics company.

“In the domestic market, I expect that fares will meet those of 2019 levels” sometime between August and October, said Adit Damodaran, an economist with Montreal-based Hopper.

Lost Time

Billions of dollars in federal aid kept airlines afloat last year while also requiring them to maintain certain service levels. As a result, the seat supply didn’t fall as quickly as demand.

In late March 2020, with would-be flyers staying home en masse, airlines offered some flights between New York and the West Coast for as little as $88, down 51% from earlier in the month, according to Hopper.

Now the airlines are making up for lost time by seizing on consumer appetites for leisure trips, primarily for domestic flights and popular Caribbean and Latin American beach destinations.

Canada and most of Europe remain largely off limits to leisure travelers, with lengthly mandatory quarantine protocols for inbound visitors. Industry executives see a recovery in Asian travel as even further behind. To adjust, airlines are shifting some of their largest twin-aisle aircraft to domestic routes that were served largely by smaller planes before the pandemic.

The three largest U.S. airlines have increased wide-body flights in the U.S. by 30% this year through August, with numbers peaking in June and July, from 2019 levels, according to data from Cirium. American Airlines (NASDAQ:AAL) Group Inc., for example, is using big Boeing (NYSE:BA) Co. 777 jets on flights connecting Miami with Los Angeles and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

There’s still a ways to go before pricing fully catches up with the levels of 2019, a record year for air travel. Domestic leisure fares so far this quarter are roughly 18% below the same period two years ago, according to data compiled for Bloomberg News by Menlo Park, California-based TripActions.

Relative to 2019 levels, ticket prices can vary widely by route. The median price for a round-trip ticket from Minneapolis to Orlando, home of Disney and Universal theme parks, is $304.68 this quarter, down 28% from two years ago, according to TripActions. Los Angeles to Orlando is 12% lower. But New York to Miami fares are 39% higher, at $487.

Improved Outlook

The improving outlook for pricing power has helped spur a rally in a Standard & Poor’s index of major U.S. airlines, which has advanced 30% this year. The index rose to a six-week high Wednesday after recent signs that the recovery was strengthening.

Booked fares on June flights are nearing the same level as two years ago, Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV) Co. said May 19, spurred partially by the carrier’s plan to fly only 84% of its 2019-level capacity in the second quarter.

Likewise, while United is touting July as its busiest flight schedule since March 2020, the month’s flying will still be about 20% below the level of two years ago. That’s pushing up trip costs for the peak summer season as carriers reboot revenue management tools -- which raise fares in line with stronger seat demand -- after a year in which planes often flew with rows of empty seats.“I haven’t been super-pleased with the prices,” said Jackson Ralston, 29, of Lake Dallas, Texas, who is monitoring daily Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Flight fare alerts to attend a friend’s bachelor party this summer. Current ticket prices from Dallas to Manchester, New Hampshire, for the planned weekend at a lake are close to $600.“I’m debating whether or not I’ll need to fly into more of a major hub over there and just rent a car and drive up,” he said. The hit to consumer wallets is buoying airlines that have had to rely on billions of dollars in federal aid to weather a collapse in demand caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Coupled with deep cost cuts last year, the fare recovery is making carriers including Delta Air Lines Inc (NYSE:DAL). and United Airlines Holdings (NASDAQ:UAL) Inc. more confident that their run of red ink will end in the third quarter.Airlines Rally as U.S. Travel Rebound Quickens Into SummerAirfares jumped a record 10.2% in April from the prior month, the U.S. Labor Department reported May 12, reflecting a surge of demand as cooped-up consumers returned to the skies.Compared with the level in the first quarter, the median round-trip fare has climbed 12% to $357.36, according to TripActions Inc., a corporate travel manager that collects fares from global ticket-distribution systems. Those three months are a rough proxy for the U.S. summer buying season as people plan vacations and weekend trips. The price increases are likely to stick, making the ultra-low fares of a year ago a distant memory. In the U.S. domestic market, fares will average $283 for the period of June-August, a 35% increase from last year and only 4% below the level of summer 2019, according to a May 18 fare forecast from Hopper Inc., a travel search and analytics company.“In the domestic market, I expect that fares will meet those of 2019 levels” sometime between August and October, said Adit Damodaran, an economist with Montreal-based Hopper.Lost TimeBillions of dollars in federal aid kept airlines afloat last year while also requiring them to maintain certain service levels. As a result, the seat supply didn’t fall as quickly as demand. In late March 2020, with would-be flyers staying home en masse, airlines offered some flights between New York and the West Coast for as little as $88, down 51% from earlier in the month, according to Hopper. Now the airlines are making up for lost time by seizing on consumer appetites for leisure trips, primarily for domestic flights and popular Caribbean and Latin American beach destinations.Canada and most of Europe remain largely off limits to leisure travelers, with lengthly mandatory quarantine protocols for inbound visitors. Domestic leisure fares so far this quarter are roughly 18% below the same period two years ago, according to data compiled for Bloomberg News by Menlo Park, California-based TripActions.Relative to 2019 levels, ticket prices can vary widely by route. The median price for a round-trip ticket from Minneapolis to Orlando, home of Disney and Universal theme parks, is $304.68 this quarter, down 28% from two years ago, according to TripActions. Los Angeles to Orlando is 12% lower. But New York to Miami fares are 39% higher, at $487.Improved OutlookThe improving outlook for pricing power has helped spur a rally in a Standard & Poor’s index of major U.S. airlines, which has advanced 30% this year. The index rose to a six-week high Wednesday after recent signs that the recovery was strengthening.Booked fares on June flights are nearing the same level as two years ago, Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV) Co. said May 19, spurred partially by the carrier’s plan to fly only 84% of its 2019-level capacity in the second quarter.Likewise, while United is touting July as its busiest flight schedule since March 2020, the month’s flying will still be about 20% below the level of two years ago. United is flying 126 new routes in July it didn’t have two years ago, a sign of what the airline and its competitors have done to revamp their networks and pursue leisure traffic destinations near and far.Delta’s bookings have been better than expected recently as customers resume booking trips further in advance, said Glen Hauenstein, the company’s president. And despite Elon MuskpumpingDogecoin --because it was a day ending in ‘y’, and Tesla’s shares were dropping again?-- Colonial paid *Russian* hackers a ransom of USD5m IN CRYPTO, which could not make a clearer case for why the SEC might want to be step in. Yet to think risk is suddenly on again for real is an interesting lifestyle choice.
\n
The pipeline cyberattack, which put a swathe of key US military airbases out of operation(!), saw President Biden claim Russians were involved - but not the Russian government; that as he publicly announced the US is considering a response in kind. Will it be via the government, or just some people he knows in Langley, Virginia? Japan is extending its state of virus emergency, even as the Olympics is still apparently on very soon. India’s Covid crisis is still raging. And in Gaza, Hamas declared it deliberately fired rockets at Israel’s nuclear reactor in Dimona --which missed or were shot down-- despite being downwind and not far from it.Time to roll outthis memeagain.
\n
Of course, Wall Street wanting to get (stocks) high is hardly new: think of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’. Anda world flooded with QE and central-bank intervention like cheap heroine can justify trading that looks like what one would normally do on a combination of laughing gas, poppers, and K.But are we perhaps taking things too far? The PPI and CPI numbers, many claim, suggest we are close to a QE overdose as too much liquidity chases too many real world things. However, markets are going to market.
\n
Indeed, at a micro level - literally - I think back to news from a few weeks ago that a US start-up dismissed its CEO because he took LSD before a meeting: he told Bloomberg he was experimenting by taking a limited amount of the drug, or micro-dosing, in an effort toboost his focus(!) Perhaps the most straight to the point one can make here is that anyone who thinks taking LSD before a business meetingto enhance focusreally shouldn’t be in charge of anything. Even making a bowl of cereal. However, I can perhaps see what the CEO was trying to ‘grok’.
\n
Consider Hunter S Thompson and ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’. The book, and movie, are not exactly the stuff which Zoom or Teams meetings should replicate (though many of us may have been tempted to want to throw something electric into the bath at some point). Yet it isn’t just a hedonistic tale of Olympian proportions. It has genuine cultural, and even socio-economic significance. In the words of one reviewer, it “holds an almost mythic quality in its mix of Gonzo reportage, drug frenzies, and soulful meditation of the Sixties’ generation of America. It reflects the loss of a utopia and chronicles its spiral into violence and mass cultural sell-out.”
\n
Far less splenetic, Huxley’s ‘The Door of Perception’ is all about trying to get a wider vision through psychedelic experience: “The man who comes back through the Door in the Wall will never be quite the same as the man who went out. He will be wiser but less sure, happier but less self-satisfied, humbler in acknowledging his ignorance yet better equipped to understand the relationship of words to things, of systematic reasoning to the unfathomable mystery which it tries, forever vainly, to comprehend.” Doesn’t that sound a better trading mind-set than “Buy all the things?”, or “Buy a crypto that insults Elon Musk with your life savings at 100 times leverage”?
\n
Or turn back closer to Vegas and Yaqui psychedelic mysticism via Carlos Castaneda and ‘The Teachings of Don Juan’: “The average man is hooked to his fellow men, while the warrior is hooked only to infinity”; and “A man of knowledge is one who has followed truthfully the hardships of learning, a man who has, without rushing or faltering, gone as far as he can in unravelling the secrets of personal power.” One can see the ego trip involved in wanting to become a Man of Knowledge in markets (which the Don specifically warns about the dangers of, by the way).
\n
Yet all of that extra perception of how thingsreallyconnect, and even the ability to turn into a crow, won’t help when it comes back to the simple fact that central banks are still pumping, and all the hawks have turned to doves.Sometimes ignorance can be bliss.
\n
My own personal, prosaic, and melancholy response is to harken back to an old movie from 70’s/80’s US narco-comedians Cheech and Chong --I forget which one-- where Chong is tripping in the back of a car while in drag, and wearing a feather boa. (“Because Cheech and Chong”.) At some point, he starts to get The Fear and wails to get the boa off of him because it’s alive. Cheech tries to calm him down that it is in fact dead. Which only sees Chong freak out even more because he has adeadobject round his neck.
\n
In short, there’s no ‘happy ending’ that springs to mind with all the conflating problems we have right now. Inflation and rate hikes? Bad. Inflation and no rate hikes? Still bad. Stagflation? Very bad. Deflation? Really bad. And let’s not get started on the underlying big picture risks.Nonetheless, markets are going to market while they can: by focusing on getting (stocks) high.
\n
\n “\n No, this is not a good town for psychedelic drugs. He will be wiser but less sure, happier but less self-satisfied, humbler in acknowledging his ignorance yet better equipped to understand the relationship of words to things, of systematic reasoning to the unfathomable mystery which it tries, forever vainly, to comprehend.” Doesn’t that sound a better trading mind-set than “Buy all the things?”, or “Buy a crypto that insults Elon Musk with your life savings at 100 times leverage”?\nOr turn back closer to Vegas and Yaqui psychedelic mysticism via Carlos Castaneda and ‘The Teachings of Don Juan’: “The average man is hooked to his fellow men, while the warrior is hooked only to infinity”; and “A man of knowledge is one who has followed truthfully the hardships of learning, a man who has, without rushing or faltering, gone as far as he can in unravelling the secrets of personal power.” One can see the ego trip involved in wanting to become a Man of Knowledge in markets (which the Don specifically warns about the dangers of, by the way).\nYet all of that extra perception of how thingsreallyconnect, and even the ability to turn into a crow, won’t help when it comes back to the simple fact that central banks are still pumping, and all the hawks have turned to doves.Sometimes ignorance can be bliss.\nMy own personal, prosaic, and melancholy response is to harken back to an old movie from 70’s/80’s US narco-comedians Cheech and Chong --I forget which one-- where Chong is tripping in the back of a car while in drag, and wearing a feather boa. (“Because Cheech and Chong”.) At some point, he starts to get The Fear and wails to get the boa off of him because it’s alive. Cheech tries to calm him down that it is in fact dead. Which only sees Chong freak out even more because he has adeadobject round his neck.\nIn short, there’s no ‘happy ending’ that springs to mind with all the conflating problems we have right now. Inflation and rate hikes? Bad. Inflation and no rate hikes? Still bad. Stagflation? Very bad. Deflation? Really bad. And let’s not get started on the underlying big picture risks.Nonetheless, markets are going to market while they can: by focusing on getting (stocks) high.\n\n “\n No, this is not a good town for psychedelic drugs. Reality itself is too twisted.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":80,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":835717117,"gmtCreate":1629753735839,"gmtModify":1676530118439,"author":{"id":"3577272005829901","authorId":"3577272005829901","name":"55ewell","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4f2825fcb45f23295bcb39c75c2548ad","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3577272005829901","authorIdStr":"3577272005829901"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Well","listText":"Well","text":"Well","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/835717117","repostId":"2161747692","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2161747692","pubTimestamp":1629673828,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2161747692?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-08-23 07:10","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Fed's Jackson Hole Symposium, personal income and spending: What to know this week","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2161747692","media":"Yahoo Finance","summary":"Traders this week are poised to focus closely on Federal Reserve policymakers' virtual appearance at","content":"
Traders this week are poised to focus closely on Federal Reserve policymakers' virtual appearance at the bank's annual Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium.
\n
The event, which takes place from Thursday to Saturday this week, is set to serve as a forum for more discussions around Fed policymakers' plans to announce and implement a shift in the central bank's monetary policy stance.
City-wide trials involving state-owned banks began last year, and there is also a pilot project for cross border use underway in Hong Kong.China is also involved in a separate project exploring CBDCs for cross-border payments, which HSBC has been involved in.While Beijing presses ahead with central bank digital currencies, it has stepped up efforts to curb usage of cryptocurrencies.China, which is central to HSBC's growth strategy, said last Tuesday that it had banned financial institutions and payment companies from providing services related to cryptocurrency transactions.Reuters reported in April that HSBC had banned customers in its online share trading platform from buying shares in Bitcoin-backed MicroStrategy, saying in a message to clients that it would not facilitate the buying or exchange of products related to virtual currencies.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":812214664,"gmtCreate":1630590219458,"gmtModify":1676530349242,"author":{"id":"3577272005829901","authorId":"3577272005829901","name":"55ewell","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4f2825fcb45f23295bcb39c75c2548ad","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3577272005829901","authorIdStr":"3577272005829901"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$come on ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️","listText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$come on ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️","text":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$come on ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/244df45f68d2e73644a592fa232bb2f2","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/812214664","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":801,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3575044403730346","authorId":"3575044403730346","name":"暴风里的鸡蛋壳","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b41dfc8827b17f2442f628bf066fb51e","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"idStr":"3575044403730346","authorIdStr":"3575044403730346"},"content":"On September 1st, according to a later LatePost report, ByteDance plans to sell its securities business, with an overall valuation of about 500-1 billion RMB.
