As a long-term investor, you should measure performance by years, not quarters, so a not-so-pretty year-to-date return right now could become a great investment when you look back in 20 years.

While there is still a lot of uncertainty in the markets, there are two stocks in particular that have dropped in price that look like strong candidates to thrive over the long run: AmazonĀ and Bank of America. A $5,000 investment now in these two giants would probably look pretty good when you retire.

1. Amazon: Its stock split makes it more accessible

Amazon, the world's largest online retailer, made some news in June when it did a 20-for-1 stock split. That means that one share of Amazon, which was $2,447 at the time of the split, would be split into 20 shares. So, if you owned shares of Amazon, you now had a lot more, as you owned 19 more for each share you had. If you don't own Amazon, it gives you an opportunity to buy this mega-cap stock at a much more reasonable entry price -- about $122 per share at the time of the event. Among other reasons for the stock split, the move made Amazon more accessible to more investors.

But while its price changed, all of its fundamentals stayed the same. And since the split, the stock price has bounced around, but remains around $122 per share. That's still down 27% year to date as of Oct. 4, but given the state of the economy, it has performed fairly well. Through the first half of the year, revenue was up 3.2% year over year, which is slower growth than usual, but this is not your typical economic environment.

But over the second half of the year, revenue should perk up. In the third quarter, the company expects a 13% to 17% year-over-year revenue boost, and the fourth quarter should be its strongest of the year, with the holidays coming. In addition, Amazon has rolled out some new products to spur sales, like a new smart TV, the Scribe, which is an update to the Kindle, as well as new Echo and Ring products.

The stock price should start to increase, as analysts' consensus estimate sets a $170 price target over the next 12 months -- a gain of about 39% from current levels. Of course, the economy is still a wild card in the short term, but when you look 20 or 30 years down the road, Amazon, as the dominant force in e-commerce and the market leader in cloud computing, is only going to keep growing.

2. Bank of America: One of Warren Buffett's favorites

There is a reason that Bank of America is the second-largest holding in Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway portfolio, occupying about 10% of it. It is the second-largest bank in the country and, as one of four national megabanks, it has few real competitors. And among the four megabanks, it has been one of the most consistent performers. Over the past 10 years, Bank of America has posted an average annual return of 13.5% as of Oct. 3, which is the best among the big four banks.

JPM data by YCharts

Banks are cyclical and tend to perform well in strong, growing economies. But while the economy has contracted the last two quarters, Bank of America has been able to boost revenue and increase loans. Higher interest rates have benefited Bank of America, offsetting a year-over-year revenue drop in the investment banking business.

The environment could be more challenging over the next few quarters if we go into recession, but over the long term, large, well-run banks like Bank of America are going to do well when the economy is growing. And periods of economic growth are historically much longer than periods of recession.

Also, Bank of America is really cheap right now with a forward price-to-earnings ratio of around eight and a price-to-book ratio of one -- which means it is trading at its book value.

Like Amazon, Bank of America is a market leader and the type of great business that you can count on over the long term, through the market's ups and downs. And at $32 per share, you could buy about 75 shares of Bank of America, to go along with roughly 20 shares of Amazon at $122 per share.

Combined, that would give you a nice chunk of these two stalwart stocks for about $5,000, which should grow steadily until retirement.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Got $5,000? But the chances appear to be pretty good.","content":"

Warren Buffett would probably be the last person on the planet to predict how stocks will perform over the short term. The legendary investor is much more focused on the long-term business prospects for the stocks he buys for Berkshire Hathaway.

That is absolutely the correct mindset to have. However, if I had to pick the stocks in Berkshire's portfolio that would probably deliver strong gains over the near term, the decision wouldn't be that difficult. Here are the three Buffett stocks I think are most likely to soar in Q4.

1. Chevron

ChevronĀ now ranks as the fourth-largest position in Buffett's portfolio. It's one of the few stocks that the Berkshire Hathaway CEO has been consistently buying for several consecutive quarters.

The oil and gas giant also stands as one of the few big winners for Buffett so far in 2022. Chevron's share price has jumped close to 30% year to date. This gain stemmed in large part from UkraineĀ war, a move that disrupted the global energy market.

I think that Chevron stock will probably move even higher in Q4. Any hopes that the Russia-Ukraine conflict would end quickly have evaporated. European Union leaders agreed to ban 90% of most Russian oil imports by the end of this year. OPEC+ members are meeting this week to consider cutting oil production.

All of this could translate to higher oil prices, which would be bad news for the public but good news for Chevron. With shares trading at around nine times expected earnings, Chevron's valuation isn't so great that the stock wouldn't benefit from further global supply tightening.

2. Occidental Petroleum

Buffett has become a huge fan ofĀ Occidental Petroleum. After months of aggressive buying, Berkshire now owns nearly 21% of the oil and gas company.

Occidental has been the best-performing stock in Berkshire's entire portfolio so far this year. Its shares have skyrocketed by more than 120%. At one point, Oxy was up over 150% year to date.

Can Occidental keep its momentum going in Q4? I think so. Importantly, the company benefits from the same global dynamics that should help Chevron. The two stocks also share nearly identical forward earnings multiples.

But there's another factor that could boost Occidental stock even more this year. In August, Berkshire won regulatory authorization to acquire up to 50% of Occidental. If Buffett keeps buying shares, it's almost a certainty that Occidental stock will keep rising.

3. Apple

You could make a good case thatĀ AppleĀ ranks as Buffett's favorite stock after Berkshire itself. Apple is by far the biggest holding in Berkshire's portfolio. Buffett has referred to it as one of Berkshire's "four giants." The other three "giants" -- the insurance business, BNSF Railway, and Berkshire Hathaway Energy -- are Berkshire subsidiaries.

Unlike Chevron and Occidental, Apple has been a loser for Buffett in 2022. Shares of the tech giant have plunged around 20% year to date.

Don't think for a second that Apple can't rebound strongly in Q4, though. Here are the three Buffett stocks I think are most likely to soar in Q4.1. ChevronChevronĀ now ranks as the fourth-largest position in Buffett's portfolio. It's one of the few stocks that the Berkshire Hathaway CEO has been consistently buying for several consecutive quarters. The oil and gas giant also stands as one of the few big winners for Buffett so far in 2022. Chevron's share price has jumped close to 30% year to date. This gain stemmed in large part from UkraineĀ war, a move that disrupted the global energy market.I think that Chevron stock will probably move even higher in Q4. With shares trading at around nine times expected earnings, Chevron's valuation isn't so great that the stock wouldn't benefit from further global supply tightening.2. Occidental PetroleumBuffett has become a huge fan ofĀ Occidental Petroleum. After months of aggressive buying, Berkshire now owns nearly 21% of the oil and gas company.Occidental has been the best-performing stock in Berkshire's entire portfolio so far this year. If Buffett keeps buying shares, it's almost a certainty that Occidental stock will keep rising.3. AppleYou could make a good case thatĀ AppleĀ ranks as Buffett's favorite stock after Berkshire itself. Apple is by far the biggest holding in Berkshire's portfolio. Buffett has referred to it as one of Berkshire's \"four giants.\" The other three \"giants\" -- the insurance business, BNSF Railway, and Berkshire Hathaway Energy -- are Berkshire subsidiaries.Unlike Chevron and Occidental, Apple has been a loser for Buffett in 2022. Shares of the tech giant have plunged around 20% year to date.Don't think for a second that Apple can't rebound strongly in Q4, though. One key reason behind the stock's recent slide is a Bloomberg report that Apple asked certain suppliers to scale back production of the new iPhone 14. But stories based on anonymous sources don't always pan out.At least one Wall Street analyst, Rosenblatt Securities, thinks that consumers in the U.S. and in other countries could enthusiastically buy Apple's new products. provide a trailing dividend yield of 4.6%.The group expects demand to hold up for the second half of 2022 and sees resilient demand for its products across its customer base.Venture will be developing new technologies and capabilities and adding new manufacturing capacity in line with this sustained demand.Singapore Exchange Limited Singapore Exchange Limited, or SGX, is Singaporeās sole stock exchange operator. As such, the bourse operator enjoys a natural monopoly that will keep its business secure during challenging times. The group also reported a good set of numbers for its fiscal 2022 fifth-largest market caps, respectively, but they have a lot of growth left to conquer in the coming years.

Shopify is much smaller than Amazon or Tesla, but its unique e-commerce platform could make it globally dominant in a world where more and more people are working for themselves or dreaming up a side hustle.

Apple wasn't on top of the market cap hill 13 years ago. It shouldn't surprise anyone if it's not on top 13 years from now.

AppleĀ (NASDAQ:AAPL)Ā is a beast, and nobody is going to topple it from the king of the market cap hill anytime soon. Apple's $2.8 billion valuation is dominant right now, but the class act of Cupertino probably won't be on top forever. Go out 13 years and it wouldn't be a surprise to see someone else in that spot. Who can it be?

I thinkĀ AmazonĀ (NASDAQ:AMZN),Ā Tesla MotorsĀ (NASDAQ:TSLA),Ā andĀ ShopifyĀ (NYSE:SHOP)Ā have fair shots to inherit the market cap crown from Apple. Let's see why each of these three already well-known companies can be the most valuable publicly traded company come 2035.

Amazon.com

If you're like me, you lean a lot on Amazon these days. There's e-commerce, local grocery deliveries, namesake consumer electronics, and a growing slate of digital content. With its widely adoptedĀ AWS cloud platform, you're probably doing business with Amazon even when you don't realize that you're doing business with Amazon.

Amazon's a beast. Net sales rose 22% to $469.8 billion. Apple clocked in with just $365.8 billion on the top line for its fiscal 2021. Naturally, Amazon currently operates a lower-margin business. Apple deserves the better multiple. However, Amazon has been the more consistent grower. Apple's growth comes in spurts. It comes through with a fiscal year of double-digit growth in net sales, only to march in place the next two years. Really. Look up the pattern over the past decade. Amazon has a more attractive pattern. It has posted double-digit annual growth in net sales for the last two decades.

Apple has done a great job of building a high-margin services component to its business on top of its innovative premium-priced products. Apple should continue to do well over time, but it's also easy to see how Amazon's consistent big steps could make it more valuable by 2035.

Tesla Motors

This pick will be polarizing. Tesla Motors is already the fifth-most-valuable stock by market cap, and there's no shortage of bears stumped by how every larger automaker by sales volume is trading for less. I'm not one of those bears, and not just because the legacy car builders often have debt-saddled balance sheets and problematic pension obligations.

Teslaisdifferent. Everyone is hopping on the electric vehicle trend now, but it will be hard to duplicate the proprietary Supercharger network. It will be hard to catch up to the tech at Tesla, where recalls are usually just over-the-air software updates. Speaking of updates, does your car get better every couple of months like a Tesla?

Apple turned hardware into a gusher of high-margin services, and Tesla has done the same. Tesla owners can pay $12,000 -- or $199 a month -- for full self-driving features that Elon Musk claims will become a reality later this year. Tesla's growth has been stunning, but the big mistake that bears make is assuming that the earnings potential of every Tesla that rolls off the line is the same as that of its slow-moving rivals' cars.

Shopify

Let's go shopping for a third candidate to be king of the hill in 2035. Shopify is considerably smaller than Apple. It would have to appreciate 33-fold to catch up to the top dog. Shopify has also proven mortal lately, down 63% from last year's all-time high. You still don't want to bet against the fast-growing platform that is making e-commerce a reality for companies and entrepreneurs of all sizes.

Revenue rose 57% last year, including a 41% year-over-year top-line gain in the fourth-quarter results it posted this week. Guidance wasĀ a bit vague, leading investors to brace for slowing growth. However, Shopify's unique role is worth exploring. It shouldn't surprise anyone if it's not on top 13 years from now.AppleĀ (NASDAQ:AAPL)Ā is a beast, and nobody is going to topple it from the king of the market cap hill anytime soon. Apple's $2.8 billion valuation is dominant right now, but the class act of Cupertino probably won't be on top forever. Go out 13 years and it wouldn't be a surprise to see someone else in that spot. Who can it be?I thinkĀ AmazonĀ (NASDAQ:AMZN),Ā Tesla MotorsĀ (NASDAQ:TSLA),Ā andĀ ShopifyĀ (NYSE:SHOP)Ā have fair shots to inherit the market cap crown from Apple. Let's see why each of these three already well-known companies can be the most valuable publicly traded company come 2035.IMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.Amazon.comIf you're like me, you lean a lot on Amazon these days. There's e-commerce, local grocery deliveries, namesake consumer electronics, and a growing slate of digital content. With its widely adoptedĀ AWS cloud platform, you're probably doing business with Amazon even when you don't realize that you're doing business with Amazon.Amazon's a beast. It has posted double-digit annual growth in net sales for the last two decades.Apple has done a great job of building a high-margin services component to its business on top of its innovative premium-priced products. Apple should continue to do well over time, but it's also easy to see how Amazon's consistent big steps could make it more valuable by 2035.Tesla MotorsThis pick will be polarizing. Tesla Motors is already the fifth-most-valuable stock by market cap, and there's no shortage of bears stumped by how every larger automaker by sales volume is trading for less. I'm not one of those bears, and not just because the legacy car builders often have debt-saddled balance sheets and problematic pension obligations.Teslaisdifferent. Everyone is hopping on the electric vehicle trend now, but it will be hard to duplicate the proprietary Supercharger network. It will be hard to catch up to the tech at Tesla, where recalls are usually just over-the-air software updates. Speaking of updates, does your car get better every couple of months like a Tesla?Apple turned hardware into a gusher of high-margin services, and Tesla has done the same. Tesla owners can pay $12,000 -- or $199 a month -- for full self-driving features that Elon Musk claims will become a reality later this year. Tesla's growth has been stunning, but the big mistake that bears make is assuming that the earnings potential of every Tesla that rolls off the line is the same as that of its slow-moving rivals' cars.ShopifyLet's go shopping for a third candidate to be king of the hill in 2035. Shopify is considerably smaller than Apple. It would have to appreciate 33-fold to catch up to the top dog. Shopify has also proven mortal lately, down 63% from last year's all-time high. You still don't want to bet against the fast-growing platform that is making e-commerce a reality for companies and entrepreneurs of all sizes.Revenue rose 57% last year, including a 41% year-over-year top-line gain in the fourth-quarter results it posted this week. Guidance wasĀ a bit vague, leading investors to brace for slowing growth. However, Shopify's unique role is worth exploring. One can argue that Amazon also helps folks sell online through its giant marketplace, but Shopify provides professional stand-alone digital storefronts. Shopify also offers seamless integration into the growing number of channels to sell a product, unlike Amazon, which wants the business to go through its namesake destination. The gig economy will continue to expand in the coming years, and Shopify will arm the creative and enterprising with instant online stores. Shopify's stock may be out of favor right now, but it has a long runway to keep thriving as aĀ growth stockĀ for a long time.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":114,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9011223811,"gmtCreate":1648870657377,"gmtModify":1676534415787,"author":{"id":"3578285722323782","authorId":"3578285722323782","name":"JG_7","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/943a617088822556a2e8fdb01023a8dd","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578285722323782","idStr":"3578285722323782"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$The Kraft Heinz Company(KHC)$Share for coins [Smile] ","listText":"$The Kraft Heinz Company(KHC)$Share for coins [Smile] ","text":"$The Kraft Heinz Company(KHC)$Share for coins [Smile]","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/ae87da0c56f8bcd25fc95f5c8541b1f8","width":"828","height":"1632"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":1,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9011223811","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":86,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9031346289,"gmtCreate":1646449311366,"gmtModify":1676534131169,"author":{"id":"3578285722323782","authorId":"3578285722323782","name":"JG_7","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/943a617088822556a2e8fdb01023a8dd","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578285722323782","idStr":"3578285722323782"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good ","listText":"Good ","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9031346289","repostId":"1182179153","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1182179153","pubTimestamp":1646394492,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1182179153?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-03-04 19:48","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Apple and Other Big Tech Stocks Has Had a Tough Year. That put them below the level in early January when Federal Reserve meeting minutes signaled that the central bank was taking a much more hawkish turn than expected, which rattled markets, according to Deutsche Bank strategist Jim Reid.āReal yields collapsing has probably helped cushion the blow for risk assets of the recent very negative events,ā Reid said. The group at Citi agrees, and views this as a buying opportunity.āGrowth stocks were hit by rising real yields, but should benefit as they reverse,ā Bucklandās team strategists said. āTherefore, we raise two classic growth trades (U.S. equities, IT sector) back to Overweight.āBeyond the move in real yields, Citi is upbeat that stocks can weather the current storm well.āDespite the difficult events in Ukraine, global equities have been fairly robust,ā the Citi strategists said, noting that losses have been concentrated in financials and stocks with direct Russia exposure. āWe still want to buy the dips, and highlight that global equities have ended 10%-20% higher after previous geopolitical crises.āSimilarly, Quant Insight, in a Thursday note, writes that for āinvestors ready to step into turbulent markets, US tech stocks look an efficient defensive bet.āMaybe the tech wreck really is ready to come to an end.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":761,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9991457577,"gmtCreate":1660873156201,"gmtModify":1676536415777,"author":{"id":"3578285722323782","authorId":"3578285722323782","name":"JG_7","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/943a617088822556a2e8fdb01023a8dd","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578285722323782","idStr":"3578285722323782"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"š","listText":"š","text":"š","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9991457577","repostId":"1165357809","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":216,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9064645619,"gmtCreate":1652319796331,"gmtModify":1676535077670,"author":{"id":"3578285722323782","authorId":"3578285722323782","name":"JG_7","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/943a617088822556a2e8fdb01023a8dd","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578285722323782","idStr":"3578285722323782"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok ","listText":"Ok ","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9064645619","repostId":"2234965480","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2234965480","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1652317340,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2234965480?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-05-12 09:02","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Brazil's Nubank to Allow Cryptocurrency Transactions for Clients","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2234965480","media":"Reuters","summary":"SAO PAULO, May 11 (Reuters) - Fintech NubankĀ will allow Brazilian customers to makeĀ cryptocurrency t","content":"

SAO PAULO, May 11 (Reuters) - Fintech NubankĀ will allow Brazilian customers to makeĀ cryptocurrency transactions on its banking app starting in May and said the company bought bitcoin of about 1% of its cash holding.

The new bank service will allow bitcoin and ether transactions starting at 1 real ($0.1950), the company said on Wednesday.

The feature will begin rolling out in May and will be available to all of the digital bank's 50 million customers by June.

One key reason behind the stock's recent slide is a Bloomberg report that Apple asked certain suppliers to scale back production of the new iPhone 14. All it would take for Apple stock to soar from current levels is for the company to beat sales expectations during the holiday season.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":621,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9064679339,"gmtCreate":1652320101121,"gmtModify":1676535077765,"author":{"id":"3578285722323782","authorId":"3578285722323782","name":"JG_7","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/943a617088822556a2e8fdb01023a8dd","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578285722323782","idStr":"3578285722323782"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a
