pointsTesla bought $1.5 billion worth of BTC in early 2021, and announced that it has sold off 75% of it.Tesla said it needed to maximize its cash holdings due to uncertainty caused by ongoing COVID-19 lockdowns in China.Tesla's move did not have a significant impact on Bitcoin's price, potentially because the sale has already happened.Tesla said in its recent earnings statement that it had sold 75% of its Bitcoin. The electric car maker has been hard hit by COVID-19 lockdowns in China. It said the ongoing uncertainty meant it needed to maximize its cash holdings, and assured investors that the sell-off was not a reflection of its views on Bitcoin (BTC). Bitcoin fell around 3% following the news, but is still up over 11% in the past seven days, according to CoinMarketCap data.Tesla and BitcoinTesla has a mixed relationship with cryptocurrency. Its CEO and founder, Elon Musk, is an active crypto enthusiast who regularly tweets about cryptocurrency, particularly his favorite token, Dogecoin (DOGE).Tesla bought $1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin in early 2021, and sold 10% of its holdings in the following few months. It also announced it would accept Bitcoin payments, a decision that played a significant role in the subsequent crypto rally. However, in May 2021, Tesla changed its stance. It said it would suspend Bitcoin payments due to environmental concerns. This was one of the reasons for 2021's first major crypto price drop. At the time, Musk said there was no plan to sell its Bitcoin holdings. It's worth noting that cryptocurrency is not Tesla's main business. Indeed, many would argue that the heavy environmental cost of mining Bitcoin is actually at odds with Tesla's values of sustainability. During Tesla's earnings call, Musk said: \"Tesla's goal is to accelerate the advent of sustainable energy. We're not really -- cryptocurrency is a sideshow to the sideshow.\"What it means for investorsTesla's decision to sell has not had a huge impact on Bitcoin's price. The news did stop a very tentative rally -- the lead crypto briefly topped $24,000 for the first time in over two months. But unlike other Tesla and Musk moves, the reaction to Tesla's sell-off was relatively muted. There are two potential reasons for this. First, the sell-off has already happened. In its earnings statement, Tesla said, \"As of the end of Q2, we have converted approximately 75% of our Bitcoin purchases into fiat currency.\" It will have an impact on market sentiment, but we're not about to see a $1 billion BTC selloff in the coming weeks.Second, it doesn't reflect a loss of confidence in crypto on Tesla's part. The recent crypto crash has shaken many investors' beliefs in the long-term potential of the industry, but that's not why Tesla says it sold. \"We are certainly open to increasing our Bitcoin holdings in future, so this should not be taken as some verdict on Bitcoin,\" said Musk in the company's earnings call. He added, \"It's just that we were concerned about overall liquidity for the company, given COVID shutdowns in China.\"Moreover, Tesla says it sold the Bitcoin for a realized gain. This may interest other companies considering adding Bitcoin to their balance sheets. (However, Tesla is now underwater on the other Bitcoin it holds.) Nevertheless, there's some reassurance in the fact that Tesla was able to liquidate over $1 billion worth of BTC without incurring major losses in spite of the dramatic drop in crypto prices.Bottom lineIn recent years, Tesla and Musk have had an outsized impact on cryptocurrency prices. But the news that Tesla has already sold a large proportion of its crypto is only a blip on the charts compared with other issues at play. Not only has the industry matured in the past 18 months, but crypto is weathering far more significant storms. The world is grappling with spiraling inflation, a potential energy crisis, and fears of a recession. Crypto markets are reeling from the failure of several well-known platforms and companies, and there's concern about the impact of increased regulation. Many crypto investors are braced for more bad news, but it's unlikely to come from Tesla or Elon Musk.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":1,"MBTmain":0.9,"BTCmain":0.9,"GBTC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2178,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9077896191,"gmtCreate":1658483505113,"gmtModify":1676536166199,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like plz","listText":"Like plz","text":"Like plz","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9077896191","repostId":"2253087917","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2253087917","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1658482430,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2253087917?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-07-22 17:33","market":"us","language":"en","title":"BofA Says Stock Outflows Are Yet to Reflect Investor Pessimism","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2253087917","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Equities, bonds see weekly outflows; cash has inflows: BofAHartnett says profits, policy don’t yet signal new bull trendOutflows from global equity funds are only just starting to catch up with investor pessimism on risk assets, according to Bank of America Corp. strategists.“Everyone is bearish but no one has sold,” strategists led by Michael Hartnett wrote in a note, adding that for every $100 of inflows since January 2021, just $2 have flowed out from tech stocks and $3 exited from equities overall.“Flows are starting to catch up with sentiment,” Bank of America strategists said, warning that stocks will likely see more declines as they don’t think “Wall Street unwinds financial excesses of past 13 years with a six-month garden variety bear market.” Bearish positioning, according to Hartnett, is currently the top factor for risk appetite and possible market recovery, but corporate profits and hawkish monetary policy don’t yet signal a new bull trend. In the week through July 20, global equity funds had outflows of $4.5 billion, with US stocks seeing a second week of redemptions at $0.7 billion, according to the note citing EPFR Global data. About $8.2 billion left bonds -- the first outflow in three weeks, while cash saw inflows of $3.5 billion, the data show.Equity markets have tried to recover in July, with the S&P 500 Index poised for its biggest monthly gain since October 2021, after concerns of a looming recession sent it tumbling into a bear market last month. Still, investor sentiment remains subdued as the Federal Reserve is expected to remain hawkish despite the possibility of an economic contraction as it fights historically high inflation.Market participants are also debating whether stocks have seen full capitulation, with the July Bank of America global fund manager survey showing earlier this week that investor allocation to equities plunged to the lowest since October 2008, while exposure to risk assets dropped to levels not seen even during the global financial crisis. In the meantime, Sanford C. Bernstein strategists said stocks are yet to see full capitulation as equity outflows outside Europe have only just begun.“Putin/China catalysts to be less bearish in the second half but bull run needs peak CPI, peak yields, Fed done by 2023, which is unlikely without big recession and/or big credit event,” said Hartnett, recommending to sell the S&P 500 at 4,200, or 5% higher from the latest close.Investors are focusing on the earnings season for clues on whether companies will be able to overcome a flurry of risks, including surging inflation and supply constraints. Hartnett had said last week that weaker-than-expected corporate earnings could tip investors into full capitulation. Data compiled by Bloomberg showfewerUS companies are topping earnings estimates this season, with the materials and energy sectors among the biggest laggards. In terms of equity flows by style factors, US large caps saw inflows, while small cap, growth and value had outflows in the week. Health care and consumer led inflows among sectors, while materials and energy had the biggest outflows.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".IXIC":0.9,".SPX":0.9,".DJI":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2108,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9077896085,"gmtCreate":1658483488647,"gmtModify":1676536166215,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like plz","listText":"Like plz","text":"Like plz","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9077896085","repostId":"2253208028","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2253208028","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1658482829,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2253208028?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-07-22 17:40","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Amazon: Growth Headwinds Result in Lower Price Target but the Stock Is Still a Winner, Says Deutsche Bank","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2253208028","media":"TipRanks","summary":"Even after recent gains, Amazon (AMZN) stock is still down by 25% on a year-to-date basis. Yet despite the issues faced by the ecommerce sector this year, Amazon e-commerce demand has not waned to an alarming extent. In fact, Deutsche Bank’s Lee Horowitz believes it has “held up relatively well.”That said, with recessionary concerns to the fore, Horowitz does not consider Amazon immune to the macro whims and heading into next week’s Q2 report (July 28), he has tempered the revenue outlook beyond the second quarter and into 2023.As for 2Q22, Horowitz expects revenue of $120 billion, a figure which suggests sequential revenue growth of ~2% (non-AWS), which is “in line with normal seasonality and consistent” with the firm’s proprietary geolocation data across Amazon’s North America footprint.Going by the warehouse geolocation data, Horowitz is of the mind the Q2 North America revenue forecast of ~$70 billion is “generally safe.” Considering the recent remarks from BoFA that suggested solid credit and debit card spending, as well as Horowitz’ expectation that Amazon's retail business could “prove stickier” than rivals against a backdrop of tighter spending, the analyst feels that the Q2 sales figures should hold up quite well.“That said,” the 5-star analyst went on to add, “with macro conditions still generally unstable, we believe that all eyes will be on the 3Q guide and expectations for how consumer spending evolves for the rest of the year.”Although Q3’s OI (operating income) stands to gain from abating inflationary headwinds related to labor, fuel, and “excess capacity,” Horowitz thinks gross margins will be affected by “incremental discounting associated with ballooning inventory growth.” As such, the analyst expects Amazon’s Q3 OI guide to fall short of Street expectations. In fact, factoring in “accelerating growth headwinds across both e-commerce and cloud,” Horowitz has reduced his 2023 OI figures by ~14%, which in turn results in a new price target – lowered from $174 to $155. There’s still upside from 24% from current levels. That said, Horowitz’s rating stays a Buy as he is still fully behind Amazon and signs off on a positive note, saying, “as we inch towards what could be seen as the last cut for e-commerce, we would expect sentiment for Amazon to shift more positively and for shares to outperform.”Turning now to the rest of the Street, where barring one skeptic, the remaining 38 Buys all add up to a Strong Buy consensus rating. Moreover, the average price target is more bullish than Horowitz will allow; at $173.08, the figure makes room for 12-month gains of 39%.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AMZN":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1926,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9077898702,"gmtCreate":1658483471306,"gmtModify":1676536166191,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like plz","listText":"Like plz","text":"Like plz","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9077898702","repostId":"2253087418","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3285,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9077898215,"gmtCreate":1658483445137,"gmtModify":1676536166191,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$anytime to break even ?","listText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$anytime to break even ?","text":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$anytime to break even ?","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/9db66089a46cb42665c7a6201130cf04","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9077898215","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2722,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9074837463,"gmtCreate":1658329510652,"gmtModify":1676536141893,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like plz","listText":"Like plz","text":"Like plz","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9074837463","repostId":"1157838917","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1157838917","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1658325501,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1157838917?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-07-20 21:58","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Meme Stocks Gained in Morning Trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1157838917","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Meme stocks gained in morning trading. The output lost at Tesla’s Shanghai plant, which is the company’s most-productive factory, makes it nearly impossible to accurately project the electric-vehicle maker’s profits.

All things considered, Tesla’ should probably earn less than what Wall Street expects. Profit forecasts for the second quarter started out at about $2.30 a share. Now they are at about $1.85, down about 20%. Forecasts for vehicles delivered, on the other hand, started out at about 350,000 units, but the company only delivered 254,695 cars during the quarter. That’s a 27% drop, seven percentage points worse than the decline in estimates.

Fewer deliveries reduce revenue, but the damage is likely to be worse in terms of profits. At any manufacturing company, percentage losses or gains in sales are typically magnified on the bottom line. Tesla, for instance, had all its fixed costs throughout the second quarter, but it didn’t have all of its production.

The setup for the second-quarter results announcement is similar to the situation Barron’s described before Tesla’s first-quarter results came out in April. Tesla had delivered fewer cars than Wall Street expected, but forecasts of earnings barely budged.

Still, earnings came in higher than expected, at $3.22 a share, about $1 higher than Wall Street projected. Prices for Tesla’s cars turned out to have been better than forecast and inflation didn’t raise costs as much as expected.

Inflation is still a problem, but vehicle prices continue to march higher. Prices for Tesla vehicles are up in the range of 25% to 30% year over year, according to the company’s website. Rising prices and costs may turn out to have been a wash for Tesla in the second quarter.

But in the first quarter, Chinese production was a record 182,174 units. In the second quarter, because of Covid, production fell to 112,583 cars. That matters because the Shanghai facility is the company’s lowest-cost operation.

At the same time, Tesla was ramping up production up at two new facilities, in Texas and Germany, in the second quarter. CEO Elon Musk referred to those plants as “money furnaces” in a recent interview. That could mean the process of boosting production has gone slower than expected. Tesla didn’t respond to a request for clarification of Musk’s comments.

All of those complexities mean that Tesla’s second-quarter earnings likely won’t offer a clear picture of the company’s prospects for the near and medium term. It makes more sense to focus on cash flow and order rates.

The consensus estimate for free cash flow started out the quarter at about $2 billion, but it is now at about $500 million. New Street Research analyst Pierre Ferragu believes Tesla might only break even in terms of free cash flow. That downbeat view comes from a man who rates the stock at Buy, with a target for the share price of $1,580, the highest on Wall Street, according to Bloomberg.

If Tesla turns out to have generated any free cash flow in the tough second quarter, investors should be pleased.

Orders for Tesla cars are another critical indicator, showing how well demand is holding up despite inflation, rising interest rates, and a slowing economy. “Watch the cadence of orders,” says Canaccord analyst George Gianarikas. “The good news for Tesla is they have so many orders.” The wait for a new, base-level, Model Y stretches into the first quarter of 2023.

Whether lead times are increasing or fall is a key factor for Gianarikas. He is positive about the stock, rating it at Buy. His target for the price is $801, which is 25 times his estimate of 2025 earnings per share.

Investors will probably have to wait for the earnings conference call to get details about orders and demand from management. Tune in at 5:30 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives hopes that Tesla will endorse its 50% unit growth guidance. Tesla’s goal is to grow volumes at 50% a year on average for the foreseeable future. That’s a 27% drop, seven percentage points worse than the decline in estimates.Fewer deliveries reduce revenue, but the damage is likely to be worse in terms of profits. Tesla had delivered fewer cars than Wall Street expected, but forecasts of earnings barely budged.Still, earnings came in higher than expected, at $3.22 a share, about $1 higher than Wall Street projected. Prices for Tesla’s cars turned out to have been better than forecast and inflation didn’t raise costs as much as expected.Inflation is still a problem, but vehicle prices continue to march higher. If Tesla turns out to have generated any free cash flow in the tough second quarter, investors should be pleased.Orders for Tesla cars are another critical indicator, showing how well demand is holding up despite inflation, rising interest rates, and a slowing economy. “Watch the cadence of orders,” says Canaccord analyst George Gianarikas. “The good news for Tesla is they have so many orders.” The wait for a new, base-level, Model Y stretches into the first quarter of 2023.Whether lead times are increasing or fall is a key factor for Gianarikas. He is positive about the stock, rating it at Buy. His target for the price is $801, which is 25 times his estimate of 2025 earnings per share.Investors will probably have to wait for the earnings conference call to get details about orders and demand from management. Tune in at 5:30 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives hopes that Tesla will endorse its 50% unit growth guidance. Tesla’s goal is to grow volumes at 50% a year on average for the foreseeable future. Growth like that would put 2022 deliveries at about 1.4 million units.Ives rates Tesla at Buy with a $1,000 price target.Coming into Wednesday trading, Tesla stock is down about 30% so far this year, worse than the 17% and 25% comparable, respective declines of the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite Index.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3073,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9074835708,"gmtCreate":1658329311404,"gmtModify":1676536141836,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Cenntro Electric Group Limited(CENN)$any chance to recover?","listText":"$Cenntro Electric Group Limited(CENN)$any chance to recover?","text":"$Cenntro Electric Group Limited(CENN)$any chance to recover?","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/e93f75320c850c41544418f977b7a15f","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9074835708","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":956,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9075956101,"gmtCreate":1658134438303,"gmtModify":1676536110580,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"what caused beyond meat to surge? It has been my experience that the more the market tests an upper resistance level, the weaker it gets. This most recent rally may be the one to do the trick and actually break through the $4000 mark. The primary catalyst I see is earnings may not be as bad as many are predicting. Further, most of the downside may already be priced in. In the following sections I make my case.

The last bastion of strength takes a fall

The recent plethora of demand destruction in the energy sector and other commodities may have just provided the straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back. The deep correction in the energy sector along with other commodities has been a blessing to the bulls. The longer-term uptrends are still intact, yet the last bastion of overconfidence (the energy sector) has been washed away for sure, a healthy occurrence for the markets in general no doubt. Furthermore, a few characteristics of the recent rally distinguish it from the previous failed forays over the past six months. This rally started from the lowest valuation, deepest oversold conditions, and the most depressed investor sentiment backdrop of any of the previous breakout attempts. The rally has definitely earned its strips, so to speak. What's more, multiples have been severely compressed. Let me explain.

Multiples are compressed

The S&P 500 multiple dropped 25% to 16-times the current forecasted earnings. This level has served to mark the bottom in stocks several times since 2000.

S&P 500 YoY Multiple Compression (Truist)

The above chart from Truist shows the degree of valuation adjustment during past major selloffs. Based on the present set-up compared to similar historical patterns, the probabilities favor positive returns coming for the next months or years if historic data holds true.

Lowered earnings expectations

The issue I’ve been wrestling with is the fact I feel this earnings season will one where management will take the easy way out and “kitchen sink” this quarter based on the fact they have plenty of “excuse ammunition” with inflation compressing margins and a looming recession in the works.

Nonetheless, I’m starting to wonder if the downside hasn’t already been priced in with the market down 20% heading into earnings. It occurred to me that this situation has to be obvious to everyone. So maybe earnings won’t cause stocks to take another leg down after all. Even so, I am going to be watching closing to see how the market reacts to the announcements. Sentiment remains solidly in the bearish camp, nevertheless.

Extreme bearish sentiment abounds

The 52-week average of bullish respondents to the weekly American Association of Individual Investors’ retail-investor survey is now below 30%.

AAII Bullish Sentiment (American Association of individual Investors)

This level of bearishness has only been seen a few times over 35 years. The last reading at this level was in 2016. The Wall Street rumor mill has it that the big hedge funds are still massively short as well. I have come to see this as a contrarian indicator from my past experience. It becomes a game of chicken for the hedge funds. Eventually, one of them covers creating an initial pop, then they all race to cover their shorts before the other, causing a short covering rally to ensue. There is no choice for them. They have to buy the shares back to book the profits. It appears the inflation fever has broken as well. Here is why.

Inflation fever broken?

On the macro front, future inflation outlooks have dropped to their lows for the year, a good sign that allegedly out-of-control inflation may finally be in decline. What's more, according to a recent report by JPMorgan,

"Markets now imply that headline inflation peaked in June and will soften sharply over the next year.”

See below chart.

CPI Realized Inflation (JP Morgan)

On top of this, treasury yields have pulled back to the lows they recorded in June. This is all quite uncertain, yet, for the moment, it looks as though this earnings season may not be as bad as many have predicted.

The Wrap Up

I am bullish on the market’s prospects going forward. I feel now is the time to create new positions for the next decade to come, just as it was in 2009 when I did it before. In fact, growth stocks have begun to take charge recently, which many were saying wouldn't happen again for years, some even stated growth stocks would be dead for decades.

Russell 1000 Growth VS Value (CNBC)

Nevertheless, challenges still remain

Yet, major challenges still remain. A late cycle slowing economy coinciding with an aggressive Federal Reserve intent stamping out inflation is a formidable mix. Friday’s healthy jobs report has eased the market’s worry over recession, but it may give the Fed cover to continue to raise rates in an effort to tame inflation. Lastly, the credit markets have firmed up in the past few days, yet were flashing concern over a weaker economy for weeks on end until now. So, take that with a grain of salt. This week's CPI and PPI reports will be very telling. It's a huge week for economic reports for sure.

Economic Reports (BLS.gov)

Final Note

There's a fine art to investing during highly volatile markets such as these. It entails layering into positions over time to reduce risk. I believe the markets may have further to fall, yet attempting to perfectly time the bottom is a fool's errand. If you have an extremely low risk tolerance I suggest waiting for a well-defined trend reversal prior to starting as position. Each of recent S&P 500 (NYSEARCA:SPY) short-term rallies this year have failed to exceed their 20-day moving average, a short-term trend indicator that serves as major resistance for rallies in declining markets.S&P 500 chart (Seeking Alpha)The S&P 500 looks like it’s about to make another run at its 50-day moving average at the $4,000 level from which it broke down badly in June. So, the burden of proof still remains for the bulls. Monday it seems to be foundering about 1% down at the time of this writing.S&P 500 Current Chart (Seeking Alpha)Could a breakout actually be in the works?I am actually beginning to lean towards the bullish camp at this time actually. The last bastion of strength takes a fallThe recent plethora of demand destruction in the energy sector and other commodities may have just provided the straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back. Let me explain.Multiples are compressedThe S&P 500 multiple dropped 25% to 16-times the current forecasted earnings. This level has served to mark the bottom in stocks several times since 2000.S&P 500 YoY Multiple Compression (Truist)The above chart from Truist shows the degree of valuation adjustment during past major selloffs. Based on the present set-up compared to similar historical patterns, the probabilities favor positive returns coming for the next months or years if historic data holds true.Lowered earnings expectationsThe issue I’ve been wrestling with is the fact I feel this earnings season will one where management will take the easy way out and “kitchen sink” this quarter based on the fact they have plenty of “excuse ammunition” with inflation compressing margins and a looming recession in the works.Nonetheless, I’m starting to wonder if the downside hasn’t already been priced in with the market down 20% heading into earnings. It occurred to me that this situation has to be obvious to everyone. So maybe earnings won’t cause stocks to take another leg down after all. Even so, I am going to be watching closing to see how the market reacts to the announcements. Sentiment remains solidly in the bearish camp, nevertheless.Extreme bearish sentiment aboundsThe 52-week average of bullish respondents to the weekly American Association of Individual Investors’ retail-investor survey is now below 30%.AAII Bullish Sentiment (American Association of individual Investors)This level of bearishness has only been seen a few times over 35 years. Here is why.Inflation fever broken? On the macro front, future inflation outlooks have dropped to their lows for the year, a good sign that allegedly out-of-control inflation may finally be in decline. What's more, according to a recent report by JPMorgan,\"Markets now imply that headline inflation peaked in June and will soften sharply over the next year.” See below chart.CPI Realized Inflation (JP Morgan)On top of this, treasury yields have pulled back to the lows they recorded in June. This is all quite uncertain, yet, for the moment, it looks as though this earnings season may not be as bad as many have predicted. The Wrap UpI am bullish on the market’s prospects going forward. I feel now is the time to create new positions for the next decade to come, just as it was in 2009 when I did it before. In fact, growth stocks have begun to take charge recently, which many were saying wouldn't happen again for years, some even stated growth stocks would be dead for decades.Russell 1000 Growth VS Value (CNBC)Nevertheless, challenges still remainYet, major challenges still remain. It's a huge week for economic reports for sure.Economic Reports (BLS.gov)Final NoteThere's a fine art to investing during highly volatile markets such as these. It entails layering into positions over time to reduce risk. I believe the markets may have further to fall, yet attempting to perfectly time the bottom is a fool's errand. If you have an extremely low risk tolerance I suggest waiting for a well-defined trend reversal prior to starting as position. I'm in this for the long haul, so I see an opportunity at this level for like-minded investors and retirees. You can count on this stable, growing payout for years to come. If you look at a chart of the past recessions, you will see that they always end, and don't last nearly as long as expansions. As a result, the stock market has been quite volatile. The Federal Reserve has pledged to raise interest rates from their current rock-bottom lows to curb inflation, but it will have to perform a delicate balancing act to ensure that those moves don't trigger a recession. Meanwhile, technology stocks, in particular, have sold off sharply, and tech-heavy the Nasdaq Composite Index has entered bear markett erritory. It's unnerving to see the value of your portfolio plummet. That's why, during crashes and downturns, it's a good strategy to hold investments in companies that have both proven competitive edges and resilient business models. Strong and recognizable brands also help businesses to retain their momentum during rough periods. And if they are reliable dividend payers, even better -- that's a signal of healthy, steady cash flow generation, and those payouts can tide investors through challenging times in the market. These three stocks offer all of those characteristics and should make for safe bets to hold during a market downturn.1. VisaVisa is one of the largest digital payment companies in the world, facilitating transactions between consumers, banks, and merchants in more than 200 countries. The company has proven its mettle during the pandemic, chalking up net revenue of $24.1 billion in its fiscal 2021, which ended Sept. 30 -- up from $23 billion in fiscal 2019. Operating income and net income were also running slightly ahead of their pre-pandemic levels, at $15.8 billion and $12.3 billion, respectively. The pandemic shifted a significant new share of transactions to Visa's network. Payments volume rose from $8.8 trillion in fiscal 2019 to $10.4 trillion in fiscal 2021, while the number of transactions processed rose from 138.3 billion to 164.7 billion over the same period. This momentum has carried on into the first quarter of fiscal 2022, with Visa reporting a 20% year-over-year jump in payments volume along with a 24% year-over-year increase in net revenue. The company also has an impressive track record of dividend hikes, having raised its payout every year since it went public in 2008. Visa's latest quarterly dividend was $0.375 per share for an annual payout of $1.50 per share. At current share prices, that yields about 0.8%. There could be more good news to come for investors, as Visa recently announced that consumer spending momentum has resumed as COVID-19 case numbers have fallen from their omicron-wave peaks. The company also recently completed its acquisition of Tink, an open banking platform that facilitates the building of financial products and services by financial institutions and fintech companies. That purchase should help Visa to extend its reach and garner a wider customer base.2. Procter & GambleIf you're scouting for a reliable investment in the consumer goods sector, look no further than Procter & Gamble. The owner of 60-plus popular brands including Pantene, Gillette, and Oral-B, Procter & Gamble sells its products in more than 180 countries and has been in business since 1837. Despite the pandemic, the company has grown its sales consistently over the last five years, from $65.1 billion in fiscal 2017 to $76.1 billion in fiscal 2021, which ended June 30. Operating cash flow improved from $12.8 billion to $18.4 billion over the same period, and its per-share dividend payout also increased from $2.70 in fiscal 2017 to $3.24 in fiscal 2021. And with an enviable record of raising its dividends for 65 consecutive years, it holds the rare distinction of being a Dividend King. The company continues to report healthy results. In its fiscal 2022 second quarter, which ended Dec. 31, net sales rose 6% year over year to $20.9 billion while net income rose 10% to $4.2 billion. For the first six months of its fiscal 2022, Procter & Gamble generated $8 billion worth of free cash flow -- more than sufficient to support its growing dividend payments. The company has also committed between $9 billion and $10 billion to stock buybacks as another way of enhancing shareholder value.3. NikeInvestors can count on Nike to deliver the goods. As one of the world's largest and most reputable sports apparel and footwear brands, it's known for its innovative sports shoes that help to maximize athletes' performance. And on the business front, its successful pivot to a model more focused on direct online sales mitigated the impact of brick-and-mortar store closures during the pandemic. In its fiscal 2021, which ended May 31, revenue rebounded strongly to $44.5 billion -- compared to $37.4 billion in fiscal 2020 -- while net income of $5.7 billion surpassed the pre-pandemic level of $4 billion from fiscal 2019.Nike continues to post growth. During its most recently reported quarter -- fiscal 2022's Q2 (ending Nov. 30) -- digital sales were up 12% year over year and gross margin increased by 2.8 percentage points to 45.9%. For the first half of fiscal 2022, revenue increased by 8% year over year while net income climbed by 16% to $3.2 billion. The company continued to generate a healthy free cash flow of $3.5 billion and also announced its 20th consecutive annual dividend increase, boosting its quarterly payout to $0.305 per share.Nike is poised to accelerate its digital transformation with the acquisition of RTFKT, a maker of virtual sneakers and crypto-collectibles. The company hopes to tap into this business to create and sell non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of sneakers and other Nike-branded collectibles, thus opening up an additional and potentially lucrative source of revenue.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NKE":0.9,"V":0.9,"PG":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":506,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9070475677,"gmtCreate":1657099812999,"gmtModify":1676535949188,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Cenntro Electric Group Limited(CENN)$this is a goner","listText":"$Cenntro Electric Group Limited(CENN)$this is a goner","text":"$Cenntro Electric Group Limited(CENN)$this is a goner","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/7ecc8ec1d8466437e66e0e8f7fd0f50d","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9070475677","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":657,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9019780491,"gmtCreate":1648641592869,"gmtModify":1676534369628,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Canaan Inc.(CAN)$ will CAN break through $7 with Bitcoin rally?!","listText":"$Canaan Inc.(CAN)$ will CAN break through $7 with Bitcoin rally?!","text":"$Canaan Inc.(CAN)$ will CAN break through $7 with Bitcoin rally?!","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/ce581e24ee6323d794916b14ac6b2048","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9019780491","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":794,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3573976216768090","authorId":"3573976216768090","name":"3nn","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/303b8f037330070d95adf2f11d86d23a","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"authorIdStr":"3573976216768090","idStr":"3573976216768090"},"content":"Dumping dip on trend. However, the decline of growth and technology stocks over the past year has hit her funds just as hard. The ARK Innovation ETF has now retreated to near its pre-COVID levels, wiping away most of the gains seen over the past two years. Despite the negative price action of the fund, there are stocks within it that have strong shots at outperforming the overall market moving forward. Here are three of those stocks to consider for your growth portfolio.1. A metaverse platformRoblox(RBLX7.05%)is a digital platform where users (typically 18 and under) can participate in games and experiences. It's an early example of the metaverse, where the online and physical worlds interact. The Roblox platform currently has 49.5 million daily active users. The company's growth picked up during the height of the pandemic when people were at home more often and had more time to spend gaming. The company's revenue growth peaked at 140% year over year in the first quarter of 2021, and it has slowed in every quarter since then.Revenue was still up 83% in the fourth quarter. However, bookings, which are sales on the platform that haven't yet been recognized as revenue (and which serve as a signal for how revenue growth is trending), grew just 20% year over year. This implies Roblox's revenue growth is quickly slowing. The stock price has fallen to reflect this development with shares down roughly 50% since the beginning of the year. COVID-19 likely \"pulled forward\" growth from future quarters, but the long-term story of Roblox looks bright. The stock's decline could be an opportunity for patient investors who believe that growth will rebound over time.2. A SaaS stock bargainTwilio(TWLO6.24%)is a software platform that lets companies build custom applications to engage their customers. Have you ever visited a website and seen a little chat box pop up in the corner of the page? Twilio probably powers that feature. The business model is software as a service (SaaS), generating recurring revenue like a high-tech \"utility\" for investors. The company has expanded at a steady rate -- revenue growth has averaged 59% annually since 2016. The top line was up 61% in 2021 to $2.8 billion, showing the business has maintained its trajectory despite having to grow from a larger base each year.Twilio's customers tend to increase their spending with the company over time, and the business boasts an impressive net revenue retention rate (NRR) of 130%. Existing customers are also helping to drive Twilio's growth. The stock, however, has been swept up in the broad-market tech and growth correction. Its price-to-sales ratio has fallen to just under 10, close to its lowest level since going public in 2016. If the company can keep up its track record of growing revenue between 40% and 60% per year, the stock's compressed valuation should set investors up for great long-term returns.3. The king of audio contentSpotify Technologies(SPOT4.36%)is one of the leading audio platforms with roughly 406 million monthly active users (MAU) worldwide. Users can listen to millions of songs from virtually any artist as well as podcasts. Some famous figures, such as Joe Rogan, have exclusive deals with Spotify. The company generates revenue from premium subscriptions and running ads to non-premium members. Spotify's 2021 revenue grew 23% year over year to 9.6 billion euros, an uptick after growing 16% in 2020.The stock has succumbed to the market's sell-off despite this growth -- shares are down roughly 50% over the past year. The stock's P/S ratio has rebounded slightly to 2.5 after hitting an all-time low earlier this month. However, the company isn't profitable yet with a net loss of 34 million euros in 2021.Spotify isfree-cash-flowpositive, though, generating 104 million euros in the fourth quarter, and it has roughly 3.6 billion euros in cash and short-term investments. Hence, the company has a ton of funding available for future growth efforts. Investors will enjoy strong long-term returns if Spotify can turn profitable over the coming quarters.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TWLO":0.9,"SPOT":0.9,"RBLX":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":528,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":166582326,"gmtCreate":1624017942465,"gmtModify":1703826655228,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment please","listText":"Like and comment please","text":"Like and comment please","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/166582326","repostId":"1158784745","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":477,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9094541421,"gmtCreate":1645194061615,"gmtModify":1676534007655,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like plz. Many crypto investors are braced for more bad news, but it's unlikely to come from Tesla or Elon Musk.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":1,"MBTmain":0.9,"BTCmain":0.9,"GBTC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2178,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9077898215,"gmtCreate":1658483445137,"gmtModify":1676536166191,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$anytime to break even ?","listText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$anytime to break even ?","text":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$anytime to break even ?","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/9db66089a46cb42665c7a6201130cf04","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9077898215","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2722,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9074835708,"gmtCreate":1658329311404,"gmtModify":1676536141836,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Cenntro Electric Group Limited(CENN)$any chance to recover?","listText":"$Cenntro Electric Group Limited(CENN)$any chance to recover?","text":"$Cenntro Electric Group Limited(CENN)$any chance to recover?","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/e93f75320c850c41544418f977b7a15f","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9074835708","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":956,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9078494208,"gmtCreate":1657725777604,"gmtModify":1676536052006,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like plz","listText":"Like plz","text":"Like plz","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9078494208","repostId":"2251108188","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2251108188","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1657812454,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2251108188?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-07-14 23:27","market":"us","language":"en","title":"SPY Breakout Looms: Seventh Time's The Charm","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2251108188","media":"Seekingalpha","summary":"Current market conditionsThe recent rally which started in mid-June has not yet proved itself to be ","content":"

Current market conditions

The recent rally which started in mid-June has not yet proved itself to be more than simply an oversold bear-market rally presently.

SP500 Performance Chart (Seeking Alpha)

This is due to the fact it has not challenged major resistance at the $4,000 level just yet.

I'm in this for the long haul, so I see an opportunity at this level for like-minded investors and retirees. You can count on this stable, growing payout for years to come. If you look at a chart of the past recessions, you will see that they always end, and don't last nearly as long as expansions. So we will be out the other side before you know it.

Recessions Throughout History (Stlouisfed.org)

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
SPY Breakout Looms: Seventh Time's The Charm
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nSPY Breakout Looms: Seventh Time's The Charm\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-07-14 23:27 GMT+8 Seekingalpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Current market conditionsThe recent rally which started in mid-June has not yet proved itself to be more than simply an oversold bear-market rally presently.SP500 Performance Chart (Seeking Alpha)This...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"SPY":"标普500ETF"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4522785-spy-breakout-looms-seventh-times-the-charm","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2251108188","content_text":"Current market conditionsThe recent rally which started in mid-June has not yet proved itself to be more than simply an oversold bear-market rally presently.SP500 Performance Chart (Seeking Alpha)This is due to the fact it has not challenged major resistance at the $4,000 level just yet. So we will be out the other side before you know it.Recessions Throughout History (Stlouisfed.org)","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"SPY":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":707,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9026654656,"gmtCreate":1653370872475,"gmtModify":1676535270065,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Cenntro Electric Group Limited(CENN)$game over","listText":"$Cenntro Electric Group Limited(CENN)$game over","text":"$Cenntro Electric Group Limited(CENN)$game over","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/0ffe22dae3b85f865138fce355b6bd76","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9026654656","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":945,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9026652769,"gmtCreate":1653370611451,"gmtModify":1676535270030,"author":{"id":"3578395069533223","authorId":"3578395069533223","name":"Onlyme","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578395069533223","idStr":"3578395069533223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pl,","listText":"Like pl,","text":"Like pl,","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9026652769","repostId":"2237261368","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2237261368","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1653337878,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2237261368?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-05-24 04:31","market":"us","language":"en","title":"US STOCKS-Wall Street Rallies on Back of Big Tech, Banks","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2237261368","media":"Reuters","summary":"JPMorgan Chase upbeat interest income outlook boosts banksBroadcom shares fall on potential VMware buyoutIndexes up: Dow 1.98%, S&P 1.86%, Nasdaq 1.59%U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday as gains from ","content":"

JPMorgan Chase upbeat interest income outlook boosts banks

Broadcom shares fall on potential VMware buyout

Indexes up: Dow 1.98%, S&P 1.86%, Nasdaq 1.59%

U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday as gains from banks and a rebound in market-leading tech shares supported a broad-based rally following Wall Street's longest streak of weekly declines since the dotcom bust more than 20 years ago.

All three major U.S. stock indexes advanced between 1.6% and 2.0%, with the heftiest boost coming from rebounding megacap tech stocks Apple Inc and Microsoft Corp.

Interest rate-sensitive banks jumped 5.1% after the largest U.S. lender, JPMorgan Chase & Co raised its current year interest income outlook.

JPMorgan Chase's stock surged 6.2%.

"It feels like a relief rally more than a fundamental change in investor sentiments," said Oliver Pursche, senior vice president at Wealthspire Advisors, in New York.
