The group proposed looking at the average volume over 30 days compared to market cap as a way of determining what they called lottery stocks. “We assume that gambling in stock markets involves disproportionate amount of trading in lottery-like stocks,” they said.</p><p>Castor topped the research group’s list of New York Stock Exchange- and Nasdaq-listed companies that were potential “lottery stocks.”<i>Barron’s</i>added to a filter to the list to look at companies with market caps of at least $500 million andpublished the listin January.</p><p>We ran our version of that screen again this month. Rather, Castor Maritime (CTRM). The dry-bulk commodities transportation firm was trading around 20 cents earlier this year until it was swept up in momentum as users of the message board recommended the company, sending shares as high as $1.95.The stock was identified as a potential gamble using methodology from recently published research paper—from Alok Kumar of the University of Miami, Houng Nguyen of the University of Danang, and Talis Putnins at the University of Technology Sydney and Stockholm School of Economics. The group proposed looking at the average volume over 30 days compared to market cap as a way of determining what they called lottery stocks. “We assume that gambling in stock markets involves disproportionate amount of trading in lottery-like stocks,” they said.Castor topped the research group’s list of New York Stock Exchange- and Nasdaq-listed companies that were potential “lottery stocks.”Barron’sadded to a filter to the list to look at companies with market caps of at least $500 million andpublished the listin January.We ran our version of that screen again this month. Its e-commerce sales surged 59% during the period.\n\nNike on Thursday reported higher third-quarter profits even though sales growth was hurt by widespread port congestion in the United States and ongoing store closures in Europe.\nAlthough the global health crisis still leaves an overhang of uncertainty, Nike said it anticipates lockdowns will start to ease in Europe in April, and delivery windows will slowly improve in North America through the remainder of the year.\nIts shares were down more than 2% in after-hours trading.\nHere’s how Nike did during the quarter ended Feb. 28, compared with what analysts were expecting, based on a survey by Refinitiv:\n\nEarnings per share: 90 cents vs. 76 cents expected\nRevenue: $10.36 billion vs. $11.02 billion expected\n\nNike reported net income of $1.45 billion, or 90 cents per share, compared with $847 million, or 53 cents per share, a year earlier. That was better than the 76 cents per share that analysts were expecting, based on Refinitiv data.\nTotal sales rose to $10.36 billion from $10.1 billion a year earlier. That was lower than the $11.02 billion forecast by analysts.\nIn North America, revenue dropped 10% year over year, hurt by shipment delays that Nike said have been dragging on for more than three weeks. That also meant sales at its wholesale partners were affected, as businesses such as department stores and sporting goods outlets didn’t receive goods on time. They’ll likely now need to discount some of that merchandise to make space on the shelf for more in-season styles.\nBacklogged West Coast ports, a global container shortage, and a truck driver shortage in the U.S. continue to be headaches for businesses from Nordstrom to Urban Outfitters to Peloton. Many have said they expect these issues to drag on until the second half of the year.\nIn its Europe, Middle East and Africa region, Nike said, sales at its brick-and-mortar retail stores dropped due to pandemic-related closures and restrictions while digital sales in those markets grew 60% in the latest period. It said about 60% of its stores in the region are open today, with some operating on reduced hours.\nIn Greater China, a region that is further along in recovering from the pandemic, sales climbed 51%.\nNike offered an outlook for the current quarter and fiscal year that anticipates inventory transit times will improve slowly across North America from here and lockdowns will ease across Europe come April.\nIt’s forecasting fiscal 2021 revenue to rise by a low-to-mid-teens percentage from the prior year. Analysts had been calling for full-year revenue growth of 15.9%, according to Refinitiv.\nFourth-quarter sales are expected by the company to be up 75% year over year, as the company laps a period when 90% of its owned stores were shut due to the pandemic. Analysts had been looking for growth of 64.3%.\nOnline sales get a boost from livestreaming\nNike’s direct-to-consumer business grew 20% year over year, to $4 billion. And online sales for the Nike brand surged 59%, as consumers looked to add new sneakers and athletic gear to their wardrobes, even if they were stuck at home. The company said it booked $1 billion in sales online in North America for the first time.\n“We continue to see the value of a more direct, digitally-enabled strategy, fueling even greater potential for Nike over the long term,” Chief Financial Officer Matt Friend said.\nNike’s e-commerce business is still on track to account for at least 50% of sales in the coming years, the company said. Nike has been investing more in digital, including its popular SNKRS app, to reach younger consumers online and reduce its reliance on third-party partners.\nIt also said it has recently had success testing new livestreaming formats, which remain more popular in Asia than in the U.S. But other companies, including Nordstrom and Walmart, are experimenting in America, too. During the third quarter, Nike said it started livestreaming in Japan, Germany and Italy.\n“We’re seeing phenomenal engagement for this live interaction, with average viewing doubling,” Chief Executive Officer John Donahoe said.\nNike shares are up more than 110% over the past 12 months, as of Thursday’s market close. It has a market cap of more than $225 billion.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":140,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":327434547,"gmtCreate":1616115950089,"gmtModify":1704791126921,"author":{"id":"3578896275583083","authorId":"3578896275583083","name":"Kan01","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2eb15fc332d92a2ad794e4d607a68fa7","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578896275583083","authorIdStr":"3578896275583083"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/327434547","repostId":"1191602834","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1191602834","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1616115492,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1191602834?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-19 08:58","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla Is Down. GM and Ford Are Up. How Interest Rates Play With Stocks.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1191602834","media":"Barrons","summary":"Tesla stock is down again in late Thursday trading---the stock of yet another richly valued, high-gr","content":"<p>Tesla stock is down again in late Thursday trading---the stock of yet another richly valued, high-growth company battered byrising interest rates.</p><p>Tesla (ticker: TSLA) stock is down about 7%. The Nasdaq Composite is off 3%. The S&P 500 is down 1.5%. Only the Dow Jones Industrial Average is hanging on, down only 0.5%. The Invesco QQQ ETF(QQQ), which tracks the 100 largest stocks in the Nasdaq, was down 3%.</p><p>The Dow-Nasdaq performance illustrates what’s going on with shares of Tesla, the electric vehicle pioneer, as well as tradition automakers General Motors (GM) andFordMotor (F).</p><p>The Nasdaq is a market-capitalization weighted index. A handful of big tech names, including Tesla, make up about 40% of the index. The Dow, on the other hand, is weighted by stock price--UnitedHealth(UNH),Boeing(BA),Amgen(AMGN),Goldman Sachs(GS) and Home Depot(HD) are its biggest weightings.</p><p>Higher interest rates hurt growth stocks more than others for two reasons. First, high-growth companies typically need new capital to finance growth, and higher interest rates makes that more expensive. Second, higher-growth companies generate most of their free cash flow far in the future, which is worth less--relatively speaking--than cash generated right now by more mature companies.</p><p>The U.S. 10-year Treasury Bond yield rose higher than 1.7% Thursday, up from 1.3% about a month ago. The rise is playing havoc on EV stock prices. Tesla shares are down about 15% over the past month.NIO (NIO) stock is down 22%. And XPeng (XPEV) stock is off by about 13%.</p><p>Higher rates haven’thurt traditional auto maker stocks--at all. General Motors shares are up about 14% over the past month. Ford shares have gained 10%.</p><p>Higher rates also help GM and Ford because of their large pension obligations.</p><p>GM and Ford pensions, on a combined bases, are about $20 billion underfunded. They have promised pension payments to employees that are worth roughly $175 billion. The two have set aside assets to pay worth about $155 billion.</p><p>That’s a lot of money, but pension deficits are helped by rising rates.</p><p>Pension obligations are a stream of cash flows paid far into the future. There’s no maturity date, like with a bond, when the company owes a large fixed amount. In addition, regulators require companies to discount the pension obligations at low rates of interest. Here’s the logic: The cash should be discounted at a government bond yield because that rate will determine the size of the cash pile needed if all the pension assets were invested in those government bonds.</p><p>When interest rates are low, the cash pile needs to be huge. Consider, the 10-year treasury bond yield is about 1.6%, and GM and Ford pay out roughly $10 billion in pension benefits combined. If they bought 10-year bonds to make the payments, they would need $630 billion to pay obligations using just the interest on those bonds. But if government bonds yielded 5%, the cash pile would need to be only $200 billion.</p><p>However, the auto makers, and other companies with pension obligations, invest pension assets in stocks and corporate bonds and have earned much more than government bond yields historically. In that way, the pension deficit is always overstated. A good rule of thumb for investors is that if a pension plan detailed in an annual report is 85% or 90% funded, then extra cash won’t be needed to top up pension assets and the company’s plan is in pretty good shape.</p><p>It’s an odd reason that investors have to cheer for higher interest rates in the case of GM and Ford. The Nasdaq Composite is off 3%. The S&P 500 is down 1.5%. Only the Dow Jones Industrial Average is hanging on, down only 0.5%. The Invesco QQQ ETF(QQQ), which tracks the 100 largest stocks in the Nasdaq, was down 3%.The Dow-Nasdaq performance illustrates what’s going on with shares of Tesla, the electric vehicle pioneer, as well as tradition automakers General Motors (GM) andFordMotor (F).The Nasdaq is a market-capitalization weighted index. A handful of big tech names, including Tesla, make up about 40% of the index. The Dow, on the other hand, is weighted by stock price--UnitedHealth(UNH),Boeing(BA),Amgen(AMGN),Goldman Sachs(GS) and Home Depot(HD) are its biggest weightings.Higher interest rates hurt growth stocks more than others for two reasons. First, high-growth companies typically need new capital to finance growth, and higher interest rates makes that more expensive. Second, higher-growth companies generate most of their free cash flow far in the future, which is worth less--relatively speaking--than cash generated right now by more mature companies.The U.S. 10-year Treasury Bond yield rose higher than 1.7% Thursday, up from 1.3% about a month ago. The rise is playing havoc on EV stock prices. Tesla shares are down about 15% over the past month.NIO (NIO) stock is down 22%. And XPeng (XPEV) stock is off by about 13%.Higher rates haven’thurt traditional auto maker stocks--at all. General Motors shares are up about 14% over the past month. Ford shares have gained 10%.Higher rates also help GM and Ford because of their large pension obligations.GM and Ford pensions, on a combined bases, are about $20 billion underfunded. They have promised pension payments to employees that are worth roughly $175 billion. The two have set aside assets to pay worth about $155 billion.That’s a lot of money, but pension deficits are helped by rising rates.Pension obligations are a stream of cash flows paid far into the future. There’s no maturity date, like with a bond, when the company owes a large fixed amount. In addition, regulators require companies to discount the pension obligations at low rates of interest. Here’s the logic: The cash should be discounted at a government bond yield because that rate will determine the size of the cash pile needed if all the pension assets were invested in those government bonds.When interest rates are low, the cash pile needs to be huge. Consider, the 10-year treasury bond yield is about 1.6%, and GM and Ford pay out roughly $10 billion in pension benefits combined. If they bought 10-year bonds to make the payments, they would need $630 billion to pay obligations using just the interest on those bonds. But if government bonds yielded 5%, the cash pile would need to be only $200 billion.However, the auto makers, and other companies with pension obligations, invest pension assets in stocks and corporate bonds and have earned much more than government bond yields historically. In that way, the pension deficit is always overstated. A good rule of thumb for investors is that if a pension plan detailed in an annual report is 85% or 90% funded, then extra cash won’t be needed to top up pension assets and the company’s plan is in pretty good shape.It’s an odd reason that investors have to cheer for higher interest rates in the case of GM and Ford. But, for now, they are a little better off than Tesla.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":269,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":324486666,"gmtCreate":1616025457255,"gmtModify":1704789814680,"author":{"id":"3578896275583083","authorId":"3578896275583083","name":"Kan01","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2eb15fc332d92a2ad794e4d607a68fa7","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578896275583083","authorIdStr":"3578896275583083"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice read","listText":"Nice read","text":"Nice read","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/324486666","repostId":"1179979737","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1179979737","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1615996440,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1179979737?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-17 23:54","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Olo opens for trading at $31.82 up 27% from IPO price","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1179979737","media":"marketwatch","summary":"(March 17) Olo opens for trading at $31.82 up 27% from IPO price.Olo Inc., which makes online-orderi","content":"<p>(March 17) Olo opens for trading at $31.82 up 27% from IPO price.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20d1f9f9ba6dea497eb21c0f36654a28\" tg-width=\"662\" tg-height=\"438\"></p><p>Olo Inc., which makes online-ordering technology for restaurants, is set to go public Wednesday as it seeks to benefit from an on-demand boom that was helped further along by the coronavirus pandemic.</p><p>The New York-based company priced its initial public offering at $25 a share late Tuesday, much higher than its original target of $16 to $18 a share, which it raised to $20 to $22 a share Monday. The continued rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine and distribution of stimulus checks bodes well for leisure travel and group travel.</p>\n<p>Las Vegas' overall recovery should pick up momentum in the back half of 2021 and continue through 2022 and this looks good for MGM's 10 properties in the region, the analyst wrote. While the company's properties in Vegas accounted for 54% of 2019 EBITDAR, its exposure to Macau is less certain with that EBITDAR likely to trend at less than 85% of 2019 levels.</p>\n<p><i>Related Link: BofA Upgrades MGM Resorts: 'Could Become A Story Stock'</i></p>\n<p>The bullish case for MGM's stock is also based on a strong management team backed by the \"operating-focused\" CEO William Hornbuckle and CFO Jonathan Halkyard. GM and Ford Are Up. How Interest Rates Play With Stocks.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1191602834","media":"Barrons","summary":"Tesla stock is down again in late Thursday trading---the stock of yet another richly valued, high-gr","content":"<p>Tesla stock is down again in late Thursday trading---the stock of yet another richly valued, high-growth company battered byrising interest rates.</p><p>Tesla (ticker: TSLA) stock is down about 7%. The Nasdaq Composite is off 3%. The S&P 500 is down 1.5%. Only the Dow Jones Industrial Average is hanging on, down only 0.5%. The Invesco QQQ ETF(QQQ), which tracks the 100 largest stocks in the Nasdaq, was down 3%.</p><p>The Dow-Nasdaq performance illustrates what’s going on with shares of Tesla, the electric vehicle pioneer, as well as tradition automakers General Motors (GM) andFordMotor (F).</p><p>The Nasdaq is a market-capitalization weighted index. A handful of big tech names, including Tesla, make up about 40% of the index. The Dow, on the other hand, is weighted by stock price--UnitedHealth(UNH),Boeing(BA),Amgen(AMGN),Goldman Sachs(GS) and Home Depot(HD) are its biggest weightings.</p><p>Higher interest rates hurt growth stocks more than others for two reasons. First, high-growth companies typically need new capital to finance growth, and higher interest rates makes that more expensive. Second, higher-growth companies generate most of their free cash flow far in the future, which is worth less--relatively speaking--than cash generated right now by more mature companies.</p><p>The U.S. 10-year Treasury Bond yield rose higher than 1.7% Thursday, up from 1.3% about a month ago. The rise is playing havoc on EV stock prices. Tesla shares are down about 15% over the past month.NIO (NIO) stock is down 22%. And XPeng (XPEV) stock is off by about 13%.</p><p>Higher rates haven’thurt traditional auto maker stocks--at all. General Motors shares are up about 14% over the past month. Ford shares have gained 10%.</p><p>Higher rates also help GM and Ford because of their large pension obligations.</p><p>GM and Ford pensions, on a combined bases, are about $20 billion underfunded. They have promised pension payments to employees that are worth roughly $175 billion. The two have set aside assets to pay worth about $155 billion.</p><p>That’s a lot of money, but pension deficits are helped by rising rates.</p><p>Pension obligations are a stream of cash flows paid far into the future. There’s no maturity date, like with a bond, when the company owes a large fixed amount. In addition, regulators require companies to discount the pension obligations at low rates of interest. Here’s the logic: The cash should be discounted at a government bond yield because that rate will determine the size of the cash pile needed if all the pension assets were invested in those government bonds.</p><p>When interest rates are low, the cash pile needs to be huge. Consider, the 10-year treasury bond yield is about 1.6%, and GM and Ford pay out roughly $10 billion in pension benefits combined. If they bought 10-year bonds to make the payments, they would need $630 billion to pay obligations using just the interest on those bonds. But if government bonds yielded 5%, the cash pile would need to be only $200 billion.</p><p>However, the auto makers, and other companies with pension obligations, invest pension assets in stocks and corporate bonds and have earned much more than government bond yields historically. In that way, the pension deficit is always overstated. A good rule of thumb for investors is that if a pension plan detailed in an annual report is 85% or 90% funded, then extra cash won’t be needed to top up pension assets and the company’s plan is in pretty good shape.</p><p>It’s an odd reason that investors have to cheer for higher interest rates in the case of GM and Ford. The Nasdaq Composite is off 3%. The S&P 500 is down 1.5%. Only the Dow Jones Industrial Average is hanging on, down only 0.5%. The Invesco QQQ ETF(QQQ), which tracks the 100 largest stocks in the Nasdaq, was down 3%.The Dow-Nasdaq performance illustrates what’s going on with shares of Tesla, the electric vehicle pioneer, as well as tradition automakers General Motors (GM) andFordMotor (F).The Nasdaq is a market-capitalization weighted index. A handful of big tech names, including Tesla, make up about 40% of the index. The Dow, on the other hand, is weighted by stock price--UnitedHealth(UNH),Boeing(BA),Amgen(AMGN),Goldman Sachs(GS) and Home Depot(HD) are its biggest weightings.Higher interest rates hurt growth stocks more than others for two reasons. First, high-growth companies typically need new capital to finance growth, and higher interest rates makes that more expensive. Second, higher-growth companies generate most of their free cash flow far in the future, which is worth less--relatively speaking--than cash generated right now by more mature companies.The U.S. 10-year Treasury Bond yield rose higher than 1.7% Thursday, up from 1.3% about a month ago. The rise is playing havoc on EV stock prices. Tesla shares are down about 15% over the past month.NIO (NIO) stock is down 22%. And XPeng (XPEV) stock is off by about 13%.Higher rates haven’thurt traditional auto maker stocks--at all. General Motors shares are up about 14% over the past month. Ford shares have gained 10%.Higher rates also help GM and Ford because of their large pension obligations.GM and Ford pensions, on a combined bases, are about $20 billion underfunded. They have promised pension payments to employees that are worth roughly $175 billion. The two have set aside assets to pay worth about $155 billion.That’s a lot of money, but pension deficits are helped by rising rates.Pension obligations are a stream of cash flows paid far into the future. There’s no maturity date, like with a bond, when the company owes a large fixed amount. In addition, regulators require companies to discount the pension obligations at low rates of interest. Here’s the logic: The cash should be discounted at a government bond yield because that rate will determine the size of the cash pile needed if all the pension assets were invested in those government bonds.When interest rates are low, the cash pile needs to be huge. Consider, the 10-year treasury bond yield is about 1.6%, and GM and Ford pay out roughly $10 billion in pension benefits combined. If they bought 10-year bonds to make the payments, they would need $630 billion to pay obligations using just the interest on those bonds. But if government bonds yielded 5%, the cash pile would need to be only $200 billion.However, the auto makers, and other companies with pension obligations, invest pension assets in stocks and corporate bonds and have earned much more than government bond yields historically. In that way, the pension deficit is always overstated. A good rule of thumb for investors is that if a pension plan detailed in an annual report is 85% or 90% funded, then extra cash won’t be needed to top up pension assets and the company’s plan is in pretty good shape.It’s an odd reason that investors have to cheer for higher interest rates in the case of GM and Ford. But, for now, they are a little better off than Tesla.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":269,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":324486666,"gmtCreate":1616025457255,"gmtModify":1704789814680,"author":{"id":"3578896275583083","authorId":"3578896275583083","name":"Kan01","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2eb15fc332d92a2ad794e4d607a68fa7","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578896275583083","idStr":"3578896275583083"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice read","listText":"Nice read","text":"Nice read","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/324486666","repostId":"1179979737","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1179979737","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1615996440,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1179979737?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-17 23:54","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Olo opens for trading at $31.82 up 27% from IPO price","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1179979737","media":"marketwatch","summary":"(March 17) Olo opens for trading at $31.82 up 27% from IPO price.Olo Inc., which makes online-orderi","content":"<p>(March 17) Olo opens for trading at $31.82 up 27% from IPO price.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20d1f9f9ba6dea497eb21c0f36654a28\" tg-width=\"662\" tg-height=\"438\"></p><p>Olo Inc., which makes online-ordering technology for restaurants, is set to go public Wednesday as it seeks to benefit from an on-demand boom that was helped further along by the coronavirus pandemic.</p><p>The New York-based company priced its initial public offering at $25 a share late Tuesday, much higher than its original target of $16 to $18 a share, which it raised to $20 to $22 a share Monday. Its e-commerce sales surged 59% during the period.\n\nNike on Thursday reported higher third-quarter profits even though sales growth was hurt by widespread port congestion in the United States and ongoing store closures in Europe.\nAlthough the global health crisis still leaves an overhang of uncertainty, Nike said it anticipates lockdowns will start to ease in Europe in April, and delivery windows will slowly improve in North America through the remainder of the year.\nIts shares were down more than 2% in after-hours trading.\nHere’s how Nike did during the quarter ended Feb. 28, compared with what analysts were expecting, based on a survey by Refinitiv:\n\nEarnings per share: 90 cents vs. 76 cents expected\nRevenue: $10.36 billion vs. $11.02 billion expected\n\nNike reported net income of $1.45 billion, or 90 cents per share, compared with $847 million, or 53 cents per share, a year earlier. That was better than the 76 cents per share that analysts were expecting, based on Refinitiv data.\nTotal sales rose to $10.36 billion from $10.1 billion a year earlier. That was lower than the $11.02 billion forecast by analysts.\nIn North America, revenue dropped 10% year over year, hurt by shipment delays that Nike said have been dragging on for more than three weeks. That also meant sales at its wholesale partners were affected, as businesses such as department stores and sporting goods outlets didn’t receive goods on time. They’ll likely now need to discount some of that merchandise to make space on the shelf for more in-season styles.\nBacklogged West Coast ports, a global container shortage, and a truck driver shortage in the U.S. continue to be headaches for businesses from Nordstrom to Urban Outfitters to Peloton. Many have said they expect these issues to drag on until the second half of the year.\nIn its Europe, Middle East and Africa region, Nike said, sales at its brick-and-mortar retail stores dropped due to pandemic-related closures and restrictions while digital sales in those markets grew 60% in the latest period. It said about 60% of its stores in the region are open today, with some operating on reduced hours.\nIn Greater China, a region that is further along in recovering from the pandemic, sales climbed 51%.\nNike offered an outlook for the current quarter and fiscal year that anticipates inventory transit times will improve slowly across North America from here and lockdowns will ease across Europe come April.\nIt’s forecasting fiscal 2021 revenue to rise by a low-to-mid-teens percentage from the prior year. Analysts had been calling for full-year revenue growth of 15.9%, according to Refinitiv.\nFourth-quarter sales are expected by the company to be up 75% year over year, as the company laps a period when 90% of its owned stores were shut due to the pandemic. Analysts had been looking for growth of 64.3%.\nOnline sales get a boost from livestreaming\nNike’s direct-to-consumer business grew 20% year over year, to $4 billion. And online sales for the Nike brand surged 59%, as consumers looked to add new sneakers and athletic gear to their wardrobes, even if they were stuck at home. The company said it booked $1 billion in sales online in North America for the first time.\n“We continue to see the value of a more direct, digitally-enabled strategy, fueling even greater potential for Nike over the long term,” Chief Financial Officer Matt Friend said.\nNike’s e-commerce business is still on track to account for at least 50% of sales in the coming years, the company said. Nike has been investing more in digital, including its popular SNKRS app, to reach younger consumers online and reduce its reliance on third-party partners.\nIt also said it has recently had success testing new livestreaming formats, which remain more popular in Asia than in the U.S. But other companies, including Nordstrom and Walmart, are experimenting in America, too. During the third quarter, Nike said it started livestreaming in Japan, Germany and Italy.\n“We’re seeing phenomenal engagement for this live interaction, with average viewing doubling,” Chief Executive Officer John Donahoe said.\nNike shares are up more than 110% over the past 12 months, as of Thursday’s market close. It has a market cap of more than $225 billion.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":140,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":351956332,"gmtCreate":1616556429526,"gmtModify":1704795612574,"author":{"id":"3578896275583083","authorId":"3578896275583083","name":"Kan01","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2eb15fc332d92a2ad794e4d607a68fa7","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3578896275583083","idStr":"3578896275583083"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/351956332","repostId":"1108931651","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1108931651","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1616555765,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1108931651?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-24 11:16","market":"us","language":"en","title":"These Stocks Are More of a Gamble Than an Investment — and the #1 Is a Reddit Favorite","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1108931651","media":"Barrons","summary":"As with seemingly everything in markets these days, it all ties back to the Reddit Wall Street Bets message board.No, we’re not talking aboutGameStop. The continued rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine and distribution of stimulus checks bodes well for leisure travel and group travel.</p>\n<p>Las Vegas' overall recovery should pick up momentum in the back half of 2021 and continue through 2022 and this looks good for MGM's 10 properties in the region, the analyst wrote. While the company's properties in Vegas accounted for 54% of 2019 EBITDAR, its exposure to Macau is less certain with that EBITDAR likely to trend at less than 85% of 2019 levels.</p>\n<p><i>Related Link: BofA Upgrades MGM Resorts: 'Could Become A Story Stock'</i></p>\n<p>The bullish case for MGM's stock is also based on a strong management team backed by the \"operating-focused\" CEO William Hornbuckle and CFO Jonathan Halkyard. In addition, recent notable changes to the board of directors include representations from Corvex and <b>IAC/Interactivecorp</b> (NASDAQ: IAC) that adds digital expertise.</p>\n<p>Finally, early data from BetMGM is encouraging as BetMGM captured 38% of iGaming GGR and 20% of OSB handle in January.</p>\n<p>\"The combination of Opco and owned assets, partial stakes, coupled with the combination of geographies, structures and growth profiles and the disclosure thereof, has weighed on the valuation,\" Katz wrote. \"We expect this to change.\"</p>\n<p><b>WBA Price Action: </b>Shares of MGM are up 4.66% at $40.79 at time of publication.</p>\n<p><b>Latest Ratings for MGM</b></p>\n<table>\n <tbody>\n <tr>\n <th>Date</th>\n <th>Firm</th>\n <th>Action</th>\n <th>From</th>\n <th>To</th>\n </tr>\n </tbody>\n <tbody>\n <tr>\n <td>Mar 2021</td>\n <td>Jefferies</td>\n <td>Upgrades</td>\n <td>Hold</td>\n <td>Buy</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>Feb 2021</td>\n <td>Argus Research</td>\n <td>Upgrades</td>\n <td>Hold</td>\n <td>Buy</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>Feb 2021</td>\n <td><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/MSTLW\">Morgan Stanley</a></td>\n <td>Maintains</td>\n <td></td>\n <td>Equal-Weight</td>\n </tr>\n </tbody>\n</table>","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html;
