src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b55e11963dc8f452076bc83cdae22253\" tg-width=\"1024\" tg-height=\"576\">Source: Shutterstock
\n
Growth stocks had a rocky time in May, when concerns about inflation resulted in a temporary sell-off. Why did inflation chatter cause such a reaction? It’s not inflation per se that’s the worry. The possible raising of interest rates to combat inflation is the real concern.
\n
For now, the Federal Reserve is OK keeping rates at current levels. But, that may not be the case in 2022. So, why are possibly rising interest rates a concern for growth stocks? Simple: valuation. It’s easier to justify frothy multiples for growth stocks in a near-zero interest rate environment. Given that growth stocks are priced based on projected earnings down the road, rising rates further discount future cash flows, which affects present value.
\n
Yet, following the brief pullback, these fears started to cool. Admittedly, it’s too early to tell whether investors are correctly assessing the situation. As Lule Demmissie, president of Ally Invest, said in a statement provided toInvestorPlace, we won’t know if the inflation we’ve seen lately is “truly transitory until the end of summer.”
\n
That is, the jury’s still out whether the inflation we’ve seen in recent months is due to the U.S. economy entering recovery mode with the novel coronavirus pandemic. If inflation cools more, as things get back to the “old normal,” we may be in the clear. This could pave the way for growth stocks, hard hit as of late, rebounding, as investors rotate back into them.
\n
So, which growth stocks could rebound, if inflation worries further dissipate? These seven, still down from their highs, may be ones set to bounce back:
\n
\n
Beyond Meat(NASDAQ:BYND)
\n
DocuSign(NASDAQ:DOCU)
\n
Opendoor(NASDAQ:OPEN)
\n
Penn National Gaming(NASDAQ:PENN)
\n
Shopify(NYSE:SHOP)
\n
Skillz(NYSE:SKLZ)
\n
Teladoc Health(NYSE:TDOC)
\n
\n
Beyond Meat (BYND)
\n
Sure, with Reddit traders squeezing it, heavily shorted BYND stock made up for all of its May losses. After falling from around $135 per share, to briefly under $100 per share, it’s bounced back above where it was at the start of last month.
\n
But, this purveyor of plant-based “meat,” which has its share of skeptics, remains down substantially from the prices it fetched for back in February (around $175 per share). Now, not all of these losses are due to concerns about rising inflation and interest rates.
\n
Underwhelming sales numbers over the past few quarters cast doubt whether this growth story will live up to expectations. Analysts still estimate that revenue will increase more than 50% next year, as the shift to plant-based meat alternatives continues amid environmental and health concerns. If results start to meet (or even beat) projections, we could see more than just interest from meme stock speculators again in this once-hot stock.
\n
Yet, it may take more than blockbuster results to keep shares on an upward trajectory. It may take the lifting of fears that interest rates are set to rise sharply, before the markets again feel fine with giving this still-richly priced stock (Beyond Meat trades for around 10x estimated 2022 sales) an even higher forward multiple.
\n
DocuSign (DOCU)
\n
DocuSign is just one of many fast-growing tech names that crushed it stock price-wise last year and going into this year. Between pandemic tailwinds (like the shift to remote work), and near-zero interest rates, investors bid up the e-signature solutions provider to a valuation that gives it a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio in the triple digits.
\n
Since the start of the rotation out of growth stocks, DOCU stock dropped more than 30% off its highs. Yet, shares aren’t exactly cheap, as they still sport a triple-digit forward P/E ratio (154.3x). Rising interest rates could result in further contraction. Even as earnings are expected to grow at a 40%+ annualized clip over the next two years.
\n
Right now, the 2020 top performer is holding steady at around $200 per share. If interest rates rise, we could see another dramatic drop. But, if inflation and interest rate fears cool, and it becomes clear the Fed won’t sharply shift from dovish to hawkish fiscal policy, coupled with continued better-than-expected results, we could see shares make a move back toward their past high water mark (around $290 per share).
\n
Some may be concerned that its underlying performance, boosted by last year’s stay-at-home environment may start to wane as we return to the “old normal.” But, with a more remote office environment likely here to stay, growth remains on the menu for Docusign.
\n
Opendoor (OPEN)
\n
Opendoor was one of several Chamath Palihapitiya-backed SPACs (special purpose acquisition companies) hit hard by the SPAC wipeout. Many factors caused the beating down of blank-check stocks over the past few months. But, the initial inflation fears experienced back in February certainly played a role.
\n
Rising inflation may mean rising interest rates. And, rising interest rates impact stocks priced based on future rather than current results. And, that is what’s happened here with shares in this residential real estate i-buyer. Of course, the specter of rising rates could affect OPEN stock in more ways than just a contraction of its premium valuation.
\n
Supply outpacing demand is a factor in today’s manic housing market. But, rock bottom interest rates played a role as well. A hot market for residential homes helped Opendoor’s business, which is basically house-flipping on a massive scale. A sharp correction in this market, brought upon by a rapid rise in rates, could change this. And, not in a good way.
\n
Yet, it’s not set in stone this is how things will play out in residential real estate. AsInvestorPlace’sAlex Sirois wrote May 27,shares may continue to trade sideways, as investors assess where housing is headed next. But, if interest rates end up not surging in the coming year, this market could see a soft landing, instead of a hard crash. That may not necessarily help boost OPEN stock (trading for around $16 per share). However, it could keep shares steady for investors buying it as a long-term “future of housing” play.
\n
Penn National Gaming (PENN)
\n
Its main business may still be brick-and-mortar casinos. But, what’s made Penn National a top performing stock since March 2020 has been its exposure to the i-gaming and online gambling megatrend.
\n
With its investment in Barstool Sports, and the launch of a sportsbook utilizing this brand name, investors have bet big that this company, with the customer base from its legacy business, coupled with the fan base of David Portnoy’s Barstool franchise, will become a dominant force in this fast-growing industry.
\n
However, over the past few months, shares pulled back massively from as high as $142 per share, to around $80 per share. What’s behind this? Mainly, the cool down in retail investor mania over this stock. The market realizes it’s going to take time for Penn National’s i-gaming unit to turn into a cash cow.
\n
So, what does this have to do with rising inflation/rising interest rates? The reassessment of growth stock valuation also affected the price of PENN stock. It likely won’t be the primary driver of a stock price rebound. But, if it becomes apparent that historically low interest rates are here to stay, investors may continue to assign this story stock a rich valuation, and could become willing once again to bid it back up to triple-digit price levels.
\n
Shopify (SHOP)
\n
It’s an understatement to say pandemic-related tailwinds for e-commerce changed the game for Shopify shares. The stock soared more than four-fold throughout the pandemic, as “stay at home” became “shop at home,” which boosted demand for this SaaS name’s e-commerce platform.
\n
But, concerns growth would slide post-pandemic, coupled with the specter of rising rates affecting valuations, helped to push down the stock from its highs (nearly $1,500 per share), down to around $1,250 per share as of this writing.
\n
Growth may be slowing down. However, even without the benefit of last year’s unique circumstances, the company still expects revenue to grow rapidly in 2021. Yet, even as it remains a growth story, this alone won’t save it from falling further. Trading for 284.7x forward earnings, any sort of valuation contraction caused by rising interest rates may result in another dramatic decline for shares.
\n
That being said, the fears that have impacted fast-growing tech names could continue to subside. This may bring many investors sitting on the sidelines back into SHOP stock. But, keep in mind, that, after its insane run-up last year, we may see neither a rebound or a sell-off. Instead, shares could hold steady, as markets let shares grow into their valuation.
\n
Skillz (SKLZ)
\n
It’s a stretch to blame all of the decline of SKLZ stock (more than 60% off its highs) on interest rate concerns. The mobile gaming platform,a favorite of Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest, has been hit hard by several factors.
\n
For one, the cycling out of growth stocks. Also, reports from vocal short-sellers casting doubt on its growth potential. To top it all off, the fast shift in sentiment for SPAC stocks such as this one. Fears of rising rates may not have been a primary driver of its share price decline. Yet, the dissipating of this concern could be something that helps the stock make an epic comeback.
\n
How so? If the overarching inflation/interest rate worries dissipate, it may encourage investors to dive back into not only large-cap growth names, but smaller growth names like this one. With a large percentage of its shares sold short, renewed interest in it could produce a squeeze.
\n
Granted, Skillz shares need more than just an overall cycling back into growth stocks. Company-specific factors will play a role as well. But, if the company, in upcoming quarterly results, further proves that the bears are wrongly doubting its growth, we could see fortunes quickly change for this mobile gaming play.
\n
Teladoc Health (TDOC)
\n
Rising interest rate fears aren’t the only reason why TDOC stock sold off massively (more than 50%) since February. As InvestorPlace’s Joel Baglole wrote May 15, concerns its growth will slow down post-pandemic was a major factor in its continued declines.
\n
Demand for telemedicine may continue to be strong, even as we are no longer operating in last year’s environment. The company’s projected growth will likely stay well in the double-digit percentage range over the next few years. But, still trading at a premium forward price-to-sales ratio (around 9.1x, based on 2022 projections), we could see more contraction, in the event rates rise, and investors reassess valuations.
\n
So, with much pointing to further losses, why consider Teladoc today? Again, it’s not a given the Fed adopts a hawkish stance in the next year. If rates stay as they are, just like with the other names listed here, investors will feel more confident diving back into richly priced growth names.
\n
Also, shares could see a boost if investors betting against this moderately-shorted (12.9% of its float is sold short) stock cover their positions. A full rebound back to $300 per share may be out of reach. But, with its still solid long-term growth prospects, shares may have room to continue trending upward, as they’ve done in the weeks following last month’s sell-off.
","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
7 Stocks That Could Bounce Back as Inflation Worries Subside
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n7 Stocks That Could Bounce Back as Inflation Worries Subside\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-06 10:33 GMT+8 InvestorPlace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
If fears about inflation and interest rates are overblown, these stocks could rebound toward prior highs\nSource: Shutterstock\nGrowth stocks had a rocky time in May, when concerns about inflation ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"SHOP":"Shopify Inc","SKLZ":"Skillz Inc","OPEN":"Opendoor Technologies Inc","DOCU":"Docusign","BYND":"Beyond Meat, Inc.","TDOC":"Teladoc Health Inc.","PENN":"佩恩国民博彩"},"source_url":"https://investorplace.com/2021/06/7-stocks-bounce-back-inflation-worries-subside/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1198437149","content_text":"If fears about inflation and interest rates are overblown, these stocks could rebound toward prior highs\nSource: Shutterstock\nGrowth stocks had a rocky time in May, when concerns about inflation resulted in a temporary sell-off. Why did inflation chatter cause such a reaction? It’s not inflation per se that’s the worry. The possible raising of interest rates to combat inflation is the real concern.\nFor now, the Federal Reserve is OK keeping rates at current levels. But, that may not be the case in 2022. So, why are possibly rising interest rates a concern for growth stocks? Simple: valuation. It’s easier to justify frothy multiples for growth stocks in a near-zero interest rate environment. Given that growth stocks are priced based on projected earnings down the road, rising rates further discount future cash flows, which affects present value.\nYet, following the brief pullback, these fears started to cool. Admittedly, it’s too early to tell whether investors are correctly assessing the situation. As Lule Demmissie, president of Ally Invest, said in a statement provided toInvestorPlace, we won’t know if the inflation we’ve seen lately is “truly transitory until the end of summer.”\nThat is, the jury’s still out whether the inflation we’ve seen in recent months is due to the U.S. economy entering recovery mode with the novel coronavirus pandemic. If inflation cools more, as things get back to the “old normal,” we may be in the clear. This could pave the way for growth stocks, hard hit as of late, rebounding, as investors rotate back into them.\nSo, which growth stocks could rebound, if inflation worries further dissipate? These seven, still down from their highs, may be ones set to bounce back:\n\nBeyond Meat(NASDAQ:BYND)\nDocuSign(NASDAQ:DOCU)\nOpendoor(NASDAQ:OPEN)\nPenn National Gaming(NASDAQ:PENN)\nShopify(NYSE:SHOP)\nSkillz(NYSE:SKLZ)\nTeladoc Health(NYSE:TDOC)\n\nBeyond Meat (BYND)\nSure, with Reddit traders squeezing it, heavily shorted BYND stock made up for all of its May losses. Lizzie Borden was acquitted of the ax murders of her father and stepmother. A fresh, one-pound beef steak cost 10 cents.
\n
Panic Of 1893:On May 5, 1893, the Dow Jones Index dropped more than 24% from 39.90 to 30.02. It would mark the worst intraday sell-off in U.S. history at the time, a record that would stand until 1929.
\n
The Panic of 1893 was triggered in part by falling gold reserves in the U.S. Treasury. At the time, the U.S. was on the gold standard, meaning U.S. dollars could be redeemed for physical gold. When Treasury gold reserves dropped from $190 million in 1890 to $100 million by 1893, Americans grew concerned that the Treasury might run out of gold and began withdrawing bank notes and converting them to gold, placing extreme strain on the U.S. banking industry and credit markets.
\n
The May 5 sell-off was triggered in part by the bankruptcy of Nation Cordage the day before.General Electric CompanyGE 0.34%shares dropped 28% on the day from $80 to $58.
\n
Fortunately for investors, the Panic of 1893 didn’t last for long. By the end of the day, the market nearly completely recovered its losses. Lizzie Borden was acquitted of the ax murders of her father and stepmother. A fresh, one-pound beef steak cost 10 cents.\nPanic Of 1893:On May 5, 1893, the Dow Jones Index dropped more than 24% from 39.90 to 30.02. It would mark the worst intraday sell-off in U.S. history at the time, a record that would stand until 1929.\nThe Panic of 1893 was triggered in part by falling gold reserves in the U.S. Treasury. At the time, the U.S. was on the gold standard, meaning U.S. dollars could be redeemed for physical gold. When Treasury gold reserves dropped from $190 million in 1890 to $100 million by 1893, Americans grew concerned that the Treasury might run out of gold and began withdrawing bank notes and converting them to gold, placing extreme strain on the U.S. banking industry and credit markets.\nThe May 5 sell-off was triggered in part by the bankruptcy of Nation Cordage the day before.General Electric CompanyGE 0.34%shares dropped 28% on the day from $80 to $58.\nFortunately for investors, the Panic of 1893 didn’t last for long. By the end of the day, the market nearly completely recovered its losses. The following points suggest specific positives for XPEV that remain intact despite relatively ebbing momentum on the stock's price (as compared to 4Q2020):
\n
\n
Deliveries met despite fears on chip shortage. While the stock's price momentum appears to have ebbed, recent news continues to remain positive. At an industry level, Chinese vehicle manufacturers XPEV andNIOmanaged to manufacture the expected numbers of vehicle deliveries, despite much feared chip shortages.XPEV chalked in record quarterly deliveries of 13,340 EVs in Q1 2021, +487% over the year and +130% over the month in March.NIO delivered 20,060 +423% over the year while Q1 deliveries rose 15.6% to 20,060. The challenge these EV manufacturers face now is not so much the ability to deliver on its numbers, but on being able to meet high expectations for the stock price to gain further traction.
\n
Government support, China's creation of an EV ecosystem.XPEV's strong deliveries describe not only excellent support from the private sector, but also the Chinese government's push to develop this part of its industry. XPEV has entered into an agreement with the city of Wuhan to build a factory with a capacity of 100,000 EV units. This is a very significant piece of news, considering its deliveries of just 5,102 in March 2021. Annualizing this number, the new capacity will be more than the whole of XPEV's total historical annual production. This news is interesting and significant since it was just released this week, suggesting it may have yet to be factored into analysts' forecast numbers. This is made more important as XPEV has always been considered a laggard in production capabilities to its larger cousin NIO. General Chinese government support for the EV ecosystem is strong, and the new facility in Wuhan echoes earlier provincial government financial support ($77m) in Guangdong. The reality is, for EVs to gain traction, government willingness to support infrastructure initiatives are highly important (e.g. permits for charging stations, creating incentives to convert from old polluting vehicles to green vehicles, etc.). With China's tradition of central planning, the EV ecosystem is placed on the right footing.
\n
Listing in Hong Kong adds to investor base and liquidity.Going forward,XPEV,NIO, and LI intend tolistin Hong Kong this year. This is a strategic move, and makes the valuation of these companies less susceptible by US political bashing (e.g. the threat of being de-listed) should it occur, since it reflects a wider geographical base. The valuations of these companies may even get a boost given greater global liquidity due to added trading in the Asian time zone.
\n
\n
Of note, in late March, XPEV held an autonomous driving expedition covering eight cities in China and 3,675 kilometers. The exercise was successful, as minimal human intervention was needed during the expedition and adds another brownie point to XPEV's research and development efforts, placing XPEV on the competitive landscape against rivals such as TSLA and NIO on autonomous driving. Apparently, XPEV's autonomous driving results performed better than TSLA's with fewer human interventions per 100km and better navigation in complex situations.
\n
XPEV's improving financials
\n
Now that we have several quarters of financial data on XPEV, it is worth reviewing how its metrics have been performing. Firstly, market expectations aside, deliveries have been very good as abovementioned, and this is flowing through to revenue numbers. As shown in the below table, growth has been very strong, and revenues are expected to more than double in 2021 and continue to double in 2022. Such growth rates place XPEV at the top end of manufacturing firms, as expected of the fast-growing EV market.
\n
Another point to note is the improvement in operating margins. As with any \"new tech\" company, initial investments would cause hugely negative operating margins in the beginning. What's important is the company's ability to improve margins and reduce costs over time. In this respect, XPEV has done a good job, with operating margins improving sequentially each quarter. Of note, operating margins started to see major improvements between the Jun-2020 (-142%) and Dec-2020 (-39%) quarters as shown in the table below. Given this trend, the company is likely to breakeven and register positive profits soon, which could be a catalytic re-rating for XPEV. When we pair this analysis with the stock price, it appears that XPEV's recently soft stock price performance is not justified.
\n
Meanwhile, the balance sheet is expected to remain strong. Equity to total liabilities & equity is 23% as at Dec-2020. As abovementioned, further capital raises with a forthcoming Hong Kong listing will add to XPEV's cash buffer.
\n
XPEV's performance improvement in both revenue and operating margin trends appear to have been ignored by the market due to recent the broad market capitulation
\n
*EST = estimate by analysts' consensus from SeekingAlpha
\n
XPEV's valuation: somewhere in the middle
\n
XPEV's stock price has done well over the last 6 months versus peers. On a TTM P/S, XPEV is near the middle although its FWD P/S is trading at a premium. However, there could be a general re-rating of the P/S of the sector if the Chinese EV manufacturers reach breakeven in 2021 and record positive profits (our base case belief, given the prevailing trend in XPEV's improving operating margins). This will then allow better price discovery when the companies can then be valued on their P/E ratios.
\n\n
\n
\n

\n
\n
\n
Conclusion and Risks
\n
XPEV's stock price may benefit from two key catalysts: (1) expansion of manufacturing facility in Wuhan, which will concretely raise visibility of revenue growth which is expected to double; (2) a valuation regime change as it progresses from a loss making company to a profitable one, expected by this year. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the valuation is not lofty as compared to price levels in 4Q2020, having fallen over the last couple of months.
\n
Competition may exist and remain intense, but given the large size of China's market and that there are only a couple of notable players (i.e. NIO, LI), the market remains largely an oligopoly which allows XPEV to retain pricing power.
\n
Much feared risks of execution in the past appear to have materialized but not in a big way, i.e. the previously expected chip shortage. Given the progression to a post-COVID economy, supply chain links should improve and reduce similar risks in the future.
\n
On a standalone basis, XPEV's prospects appear bright, and now the key hurdle is whether the NASDAQ will find momentum and exceed previous highs. The base case for this should lean towards the positive as the market is merely in the first year of the economic recovery after the pandemic. Recent price consolidation appears to have created a technical setup for a reawakening of price momentum as consumer activity revives post-pandemic.
","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
XPeng Inc.: A Reawakening
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nXPeng Inc.: A Reawakening\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-04-09 23:30 GMT+8 seekingalpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Summary\n\nValuation is middling but not overvalued like in the past.\nRecent announcement of capacity expansion in Wuhan lends better operational and sales visibility.\nCompany could breakeven and ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"XPEV":"小鹏汽车"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4418326-xpeng-inc-reawakening","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/5a36db9d73b4222bc376d24ccc48c8a4","article_id":"1142324412","content_text":"Summary\n\nValuation is middling but not overvalued like in the past.\nRecent announcement of capacity expansion in Wuhan lends better operational and sales visibility.\nCompany could breakeven and finally reach positive profits soon; major improvements seen in operating margins.\nFeared chip shortage (i.e. supply disruption) was not a disaster, deliveries are still strong.\n\nPhoto by Robert Way/iStock Editorial via Getty Images\nIntroduction\nThe stock price of XPEV has been converging with the performance of the S&P 500 since March 2021, as compared to its massive outperformance in 4Q2020. Of note, operating margins started to see major improvements between the Jun-2020 (-142%) and Dec-2020 (-39%) quarters as shown in the table below. Given this trend, the company is likely to breakeven and register positive profits soon, which could be a catalytic re-rating for XPEV. When we pair this analysis with the stock price, it appears that XPEV's recently soft stock price performance is not justified.\nMeanwhile, the balance sheet is expected to remain strong. Equity to total liabilities & equity is 23% as at Dec-2020. As abovementioned, further capital raises with a forthcoming Hong Kong listing will add to XPEV's cash buffer.\nXPEV's performance improvement in both revenue and operating margin trends appear to have been ignored by the market due to recent the broad market capitulation\n*EST = estimate by analysts' consensus from SeekingAlpha\nXPEV's valuation: somewhere in the middle\nXPEV's stock price has done well over the last 6 months versus peers. This will then allow better price discovery when the companies can then be valued on their P/E ratios.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConclusion and Risks\nXPEV's stock price may benefit from two key catalysts: (1) expansion of manufacturing facility in Wuhan, which will concretely raise visibility of revenue growth which is expected to double; (2) a valuation regime change as it progresses from a loss making company to a profitable one, expected by this year. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the valuation is not lofty as compared to price levels in 4Q2020, having fallen over the last couple of months.\nCompetition may exist and remain intense, but given the large size of China's market and that there are only a couple of notable players (i.e. NIO, LI), the market remains largely an oligopoly which allows XPEV to retain pricing power.\nMuch feared risks of execution in the past appear to have materialized but not in a big way, i.e. the previously expected chip shortage. Given the progression to a post-COVID economy, supply chain links should improve and reduce similar risks in the future.\nOn a standalone basis, XPEV's prospects appear bright, and now the key hurdle is whether the NASDAQ will find momentum and exceed previous highs. The base case for this should lean towards the positive as the market is merely in the first year of the economic recovery after the pandemic. Recent price consolidation appears to have created a technical setup for a reawakening of price momentum as consumer activity revives post-pandemic.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":60,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":340027036,"gmtCreate":1617324578625,"gmtModify":1704698751031,"author":{"id":"3579082829321076","authorId":"3579082829321076","name":"awbeans","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a873a403661600fcf46de76b6b334f2","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579082829321076","authorIdStr":"3579082829321076"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting info","listText":"Interesting info","text":"Interesting info","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/340027036","repostId":"1195370915","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1195370915","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1617286422,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1195370915?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-01 22:13","market":"us","language":"en","title":"The Top 50 Robinhood Stocks in April","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1195370915","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Millennial investors can't resist the urge to buy into these stocks. For a majority of investors, vol","content":"
Millennial investors can't resist the urge to buy into these stocks.

For a majority of investors, volatility isn't something they look forward to. Now looks like a good time to buy a few growth stocks with great potential.","content":"
If you're a tech investor, you've probably seen some red in your portfolio recently. Fears over inflation have sparked a sell-off, dragging many growth stocks down in the process. Of course, it's natural to panic, but that's not very productive.
\n
Instead, think of this as a buying opportunity. For instance, Cloudflare (NYSE:NET) and Shopify (NYSE:SHOP) have each fallen over 20% from their 52-week highs, but both look like good long-term investments. Here's why you should consider buying these two growth stocks on the dip.
\n
1. Cloudflare: Cloud computing
\n
Cloudflare is a cloud services provider that makes the internet faster, more reliable, and more secure. Its global network spans 200 cities, and supports nearly 17% of the internet as of April 2021, according to W3Techs. Those are incredible statistics, but they mean more in context. So let's look at a recent product launch.
\n
\n
Traditionally, corporations have taken a castle-and-moat approach to networks: All resources were stored on-site, all employees worked in the office, and all incoming and outgoing connections were filtered through central hardware (e.g. firewall boxes, internet gateways). But this model is no longer efficient or effective, since more employees are working remotely and more enterprises rely on cloud computing.
\n
In 2020, Cloudflare launched Cloudflare for Teams to solve this problem. This product is built around Cloudflare Access and Cloudflare Gateway, enabling employees to securely access corporate resources and the open internet whether they are in the office or working remotely.
\n
Moreover, Cloudflare's global network offers performance at a scale that would be impossible for most enterprises to achieve on their own. It also eliminates the need for costly on-site hardware. Put another way, Cloudflare for Teams is faster and cheaper than legacy network security solutions.
\n
Beyond this example, Cloudflare offers a range of other products -- everything from serverless computing to streaming video platforms -- all of which are designed to enhance performance and security.
\n
In total, management believes the company's market opportunity will grow at 9% per year, rising from $72 billion in 2020 to $100 billion by 2024. But Cloudflare's revenue is growing much faster, meaning the company is gaining market share.
\n
\n
\n
\n

Metric

\n

2017

\n

Q1 2021 (TTM)

\n

CAGR

\n
\n
\n
\n
\n

Customers

\n

49,309

\n

119,206

\n

31%

\n
\n
\n

Revenue

\n

$135 million

\n

$478 million

\n

48%

\n
\n
\n
\n
Data source: Cloudflare SEC filings. TTM = trailing-12-months. CAGR = compound annual growth rate.
\n
Going forward, investors should pay attention to Cloudflare's ability to maintain its momentum. The company faces competition from legacy providers like Akamai and public cloud titans like Amazon Web Services. However, Cloudflare is currently growing more quickly than both. Fears over inflation have sparked a sell-off, dragging many growth stocks down in the process. Of course, it's natural to panic, but that's not very productive.\nInstead, think of this as a buying opportunity. For instance, Cloudflare (NYSE:NET) and Shopify (NYSE:SHOP) have each fallen over 20% from their 52-week highs, but both look like good long-term investments. Here's why you should consider buying these two growth stocks on the dip.\n1. Cloudflare: Cloud computing\nCloudflare is a cloud services provider that makes the internet faster, more reliable, and more secure. Its global network spans 200 cities, and supports nearly 17% of the internet as of April 2021, according to W3Techs. Those are incredible statistics, but they mean more in context. So let's look at a recent product launch.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nTraditionally, corporations have taken a castle-and-moat approach to networks: All resources were stored on-site, all employees worked in the office, and all incoming and outgoing connections were filtered through central hardware (e.g. firewall boxes, internet gateways). But this model is no longer efficient or effective, since more employees are working remotely and more enterprises rely on cloud computing.\nIn 2020, Cloudflare launched Cloudflare for Teams to solve this problem. This product is built around Cloudflare Access and Cloudflare Gateway, enabling employees to securely access corporate resources and the open internet whether they are in the office or working remotely.\nMoreover, Cloudflare's global network offers performance at a scale that would be impossible for most enterprises to achieve on their own. It also eliminates the need for costly on-site hardware. Put another way, Cloudflare for Teams is faster and cheaper than legacy network security solutions.\nBeyond this example, Cloudflare offers a range of other products -- everything from serverless computing to streaming video platforms -- all of which are designed to enhance performance and security.\nIn total, management believes the company's market opportunity will grow at 9% per year, rising from $72 billion in 2020 to $100 billion by 2024. But Cloudflare's revenue is growing much faster, meaning the company is gaining market share.\n\n\n\nMetric\n2017\nQ1 2021 (TTM)\nCAGR\n\n\n\n\nCustomers\n49,309\n119,206\n31%\n\n\nRevenue\n$135 million\n$478 million\n48%\n\n\n\nData source: Cloudflare SEC filings. TTM = trailing-12-months. CAGR = compound annual growth rate.\nGoing forward, investors should pay attention to Cloudflare's ability to maintain its momentum. The company faces competition from legacy providers like Akamai and public cloud titans like Amazon Web Services. However, Cloudflare is currently growing more quickly than both. That's why this growth stock is a buy for long-term investors.\n2. Shopify: E-commerce\nCreating an e-commerce website is complicated, especially if you're not a software developer. And managing a business is even more complicated since you need a way to process payments, manage inventory, fulfill and ship orders, and run ad campaigns.\nShopify removes all of this complexity, simplifying commerce. Using its software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, anyone can easily build an online storefront and manage a business across physical and digital locations.\nImage source: Shopify.\nNot surprisingly, Shopify's business has grown at an incredible pace as e-commerce has gained traction around the world.
