However, Teladoc&#39;s growth prospects make it worth a lot more than its current market cap of under $12 billion, in my view.</p><p>Some might question whether or not Teladoc can win in a post-pandemic world. I think the answer is a resounding yes. Virtual care is both cost-effective for payers and convenient for patients. That&#39;s a compelling value proposition.</p><p>Teladoc also holds multiple competitive advantages over rivals. It offers the broadest array of services in the industry, notably including a chronic disease management platform. The company ranks No. 1 in customer satisfaction. And Teladoc boasts the biggest client base by far, including more than half of the Fortune 500.</p><p>The company could nearly double its covered lives simply by gaining new members within existing clients. It could grow even more by increasing multi-product penetration within current customers. Adding new clients -- which Teladoc continues to do at a robust rate -- is the cherry on top.</p><p>Teladoc estimates its total addressable market stands at $268 billion in the U.S. alone. To put that into context, Wall Street expects the company to generate around $2.6 billion in revenue this year. Unstoppable stock at an unbelievable price? Yep.</p><h2>2. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/PYPL\">PayPal</a> Holdings</h2><p><b>PayPal Holdings</b> (NASDAQ:PYPL) shares have fallen more than 60% below their 52-week high. While much of that decline came in the second half of last year, the fintech stock also plunged earlier this month after providing disappointing guidance for 2022.</p><p>It&#39;s important to delve into the details behind the stock&#39;s drop. In particular, PayPal&#39;s lower-than-expected customer account growth for this year isn&#39;t a sign of impending doom. Instead, the company is shifting to a model of growing revenue per user rather than emphasizing expanding the total customer base. That&#39;s a move that investors should applaud because it will drive higher profitability.</p><p>PayPal&#39;s long-term prospects remain exceptionally strong. Its growth drivers include increased e-commerce penetration, buy now, pay later programs, in-store QR code payments, and the Venmo digital wallet. There&#39;s arguably no company in as strong of a position to benefit from the shift to digital payments as PayPal.</p><p>Is the stock really an unbelievable bargain, though? Probably not if you only look at current valuation metrics. However, when you compare PayPal&#39;s market cap of $131 billion against the $110 <i>trillion</i> market opportunity, it&#39;s a different story altogether.</p><h2>3. Sea Limited</h2><p>Like PayPal, <b>Sea Limited</b> (NYSE:SE) has seen its stock price sink more than 60% from peak levels. Nearly all of this decline has come over the past three months.</p><p>Concerns about rising interest rates have hurt many growth stocks, including Sea. But the company also faces a more immediate worry: India is reportedly banning Sea&#39;s top-selling <i>Free Fire</i> mobile game. Although Sea currently generates less than 3% of its gaming revenue in India, the country is potentially a big growth market for the company.</p><p>However, Sea has plenty of other avenues for growth -- both from a geographic and product standpoint. The company continues to enjoy strong momentum in Southeast Asia and Latin America. Its e-commerce and digital payments units are also key growth drivers in addition to its gaming business.</p><p>As was the case with PayPal, Sea Limited might not seem to be cheap based on commonly used valuation metrics. However, the company is a contender in three fast-growing markets (gaming, e-commerce, and digital payments). Bullard, a voting member of the Fed&#39;s rate-setting committee this year, said he now wanted a full percentage point of interest rate hikes by July 1.</p><p>&#34;Inflation tends to be kryptonite to valuations. Higher inflation causes multiples to compress, and that&#39;s what we&#39;re experiencing right now,&#34; said Terry Sandven, chief equity strategist at U.S. Bank Wealth Management in Minneapolis.</p><p>&#34;Volatility is likely to remain until in the number and magnitude of Fed rate hikes is better known.&#34;</p><p>Within minutes of Bullard comments, rate futures contracts were fully pricing an increase in the Fed&#39;s target range for its policy rate to 1%-1.25% by the end of its policy meeting in June, with some bets on an even steeper rate hike path.</p><p>Megacap growth stocks Tesla Inc, Nvidia and Microsoft each lost around 3%.</p><p>The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.47% to end at 35,241.59 points, while the S&amp;P 500 lost 1.81% to 4,504.06.</p><p>The Nasdaq Composite dropped 2.1% to 14,185.64. It was the seventh time in 2022 that the Nasdaq lost more than 2% in a session.</p><p>The S&amp;P 500 is now down about 5% in 2022, and the Nasdaq is down about 9%.</p><p>All of the 11 S&amp;P 500 sector indexes declined, with technology, down 2.75%, and real estate, down 2.86%, leading the way lower.</p><p>Meanwhile, U.S. companies continued to report upbeat quarterly results. With 78% of the S&amp;P 500 companies that have reported results beating analysts&#39; profit estimates, according to Refinitiv data.</p><p>Walt Disney Co rose 3.4% after beating revenue and profit estimates on strong subscriber additions and attendance at U.S. theme parks.</p><p>Barbie maker Mattel Inc and cereal maker Kellogg Co gained 7.65% and 3.11%, respectively, after forecasting full-year profits above market expectations.</p><p>Thursday&#39;s session was busy. Bullard, a voting member of the Fed&#39;s rate-setting committee this year, said he now wanted a full percentage point of interest rate hikes by July 1.</p><p>&#34;Inflation tends to be kryptonite to valuations. If Wall Street&#39;s loftiest price targets for the following three fast-paced stocks prove accurate, they could soar 216% to 257% in 2022.</p><h2>Coinbase Global: Implied upside of 216%</h2><p>The first hypergrowth stock with immense upside this year is cryptocurrency exchange and ecosystem <b>Coinbase Global</b> (NASDAQ:COIN). Analyst Lisa Ellis of MoffettNathanson holds the high-water price target for Coinbase on Wall Street at $600. Should it reach this lofty figure, shareholders would realize a 216% return on their investment, based on where shares ended on Monday, Jan. 31.</p><p>If investors take a close look at Coinbase&#39;s operating performance, they&#39;re going to like what they see. As of the end of the third quarter, the number of monthly transacting users had more than tripled from the prior-year period to 7.4 million, with assets on the platform surging to $255 billion from $36 billion, year-over-year. Likewise, the company probably delivered more than $3 billion in net income in 2021.</p><p>A number of Wall Street analysts are clearly excited about the long-term prospects of the &#34;Big <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/TWOA.U\">Two</a>&#34; in crypto, <b>Bitcoin</b> and <b>Ethereum</b>, which account for a significant portion of Coinbase&#39;s exchange-based trading revenue. They&#39;re also intrigued about the company&#39;s ventures beyond crypto exchanges, such as setting up a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace for users. NFTs are the proof of ownership of digital assets stored on blockchain.</p><p>Although cryptocurrencies have handily outperformed the stock market on an aggregate basis over the past couple of years, there&#39;s also a lot of risk that comes with such a lofty price target. For example, competition among crypto exchanges is heating up, not slowing down. Among traditional stock brokerages, commission wars eventually led to the elimination of these fees. It seemingly wouldn&#39;t be difficult for other crypto exchanges to undercut Coinbase&#39;s fees.</p><p>Another concern is that the company is almost entirely reliant on external factors instead of innovation to grow. With much of its growth reliant on the performance of Bitcoin and Ethereum, price weakness from the Big <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/TWOA\">Two</a>, or even a loss of interest from the investing community, could threaten to send revenue and profits markedly lower. It happened in 2018, and history suggests it could happen again.</p><p>In other words, I wouldn&#39;t expect Coinbase to get anywhere near $600 in 2022.</p><h2>Plug Power: Implied upside of 257%</h2><p>Another hypergrowth stock with the potential to skyrocket this year, at least according to <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> Wall Street analyst, is hydrogen fuel-cell solutions provider <b>Plug Power</b> (NASDAQ:PLUG). Amit Dayal of H.C. Wainwright has Plug hitting a price target of $78, which implies up to 257% upside from where shares closed out January.</p><p>You could certainly say that Plug Power finds itself in the right place, at the right time. Most countries are looking for ways to reduce carbon emissions and promote green-energy solutions. This means Plug&#39;s hydrogen fuel-cell solutions for vehicles and individual machines (like forklifts), as well as its hydrogen infrastructure hubs, should be in high demand for many years to come.</p><p>What&#39;s really validated the potential for this company is the handful of major partnerships and joint ventures that have been struck since the beginning of 2021. For instance, SK Group took a 10% equity stake in the company in February 2021, with the duo forming a joint venture that&#39;ll focus on putting hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles on the road in numerous Asian markets. Around this time, Plug also formed a joint venture with French automaker <b>Renault</b>, known as Hyvia. Hyvia&#39;s goal is to go after 30% of the light commercial vehicle market in Europe.</p><p>Growth expectations for the company have been nothing short of phenomenal. In 2020, Plug Power brought in $337 million in revenue. By 2024, management has forecast $1.7 billion in annual gross billings. This year alone, Wall Street anticipates sales growth will exceed 80%.</p><p>Although this might sound like a slam-dunk investment, investors should also consider that Plug Power isn&#39;t yet profitable, and none of the 21 Wall Street analysts covering the company expect it to reach profitability in 2022. In an environment where interest rates are set to rise, unprofitable growth stocks often see their valuation multiples contract. While the technology and partnerships are intriguing, Plug Power has a lot to prove if it&#39;s ever going to hit $78 a share.</p><h2>Fiverr International: Implied upside of 216%</h2><p>A third hypergrowth stock with serious upside potential is online services marketplace <b>Fiverr International </b>(NYSE:FVRR). Though Wall Street&#39;s price targets have fluctuated wildly over the past year, the high-water estimate currently calls for Fiverr to hit $270. Should this lofty prognostication come to fruition, it would match Coinbase with a 216% gain.</p><p>To some extent, Fiverr&#39;s appeal comes from being in the right place when the coronavirus pandemic hit. It&#39;s a platform that connects freelancers with buyers of their services, and the market for remote workers exploded in the wake of the pandemic. With inflation also soaring, we&#39;re witnessing a hybrid-work environment where remote workers have incredible wage-pricing power.</p><p>However, Fiverr&#39;s persistently high sales growth rate is about more than just the pandemic. It&#39;s about providing a differentiated platform. Whereas competing online marketplaces push freelancers to price their services per hour, Fiverr&#39;s freelancers are pricing their services as a package deal. This leads to improved price transparency for buyers, and it&#39;s helped pushed Fiverr&#39;s take rate (what it gets to keep from arranging these deals on its platform) to levels that are well above its competition.</p><p>Fiverr is interested in targeting larger businesses with its marketplace, too. The launch of subscription-based Fiverr Business in September 2020 provides bigger companies with project management and collaborative tools that help them use freelancers effectively.</p><p>The big concern with Fiverr, similar to Plug Power, is the prospect of rising interest rates and the multiple contraction that typically accompanies a hawkish Federal Reserve. Wall Street&#39;s earnings forecast for 2022 is all over the place, with a consensus profit of $0.47 per share on the heels of 26% sales growth. Even with shares 75% below their all-time high, this works out to a price-to-earnings ratio of 182 and places the company at roughly 8 times projected sales.</p><p>Admittedly, this is far less expensive than where it was nearly a year ago, with shares hitting $336 on an intra-day basis. It took less than 17 months for the index to double from its trough, which is pretty incredible when you consider that the average annual total return, including dividends, for the S&P 500 is closer to 11% since the beginning of 1980.Despite these big gains, select analysts and investment banks see a lot more upside for a small group of hypergrowth companies (those delivering jaw-dropping sales growth). If Wall Street's loftiest price targets for the following three fast-paced stocks prove accurate, they could soar 216% to 257% in 2022.Coinbase Global: Implied upside of 216%The first hypergrowth stock with immense upside this year is cryptocurrency exchange and ecosystem Coinbase Global (NASDAQ:COIN). Analyst Lisa Ellis of MoffettNathanson holds the high-water price target for Coinbase on Wall Street at $600. Should it reach this lofty figure, shareholders would realize a 216% return on their investment, based on where shares ended on Monday, Jan. 31.If investors take a close look at Coinbase's operating performance, they're going to like what they see. As of the end of the third quarter, the number of monthly transacting users had more than tripled from the prior-year period to 7.4 million, with assets on the platform surging to $255 billion from $36 billion, year-over-year. Likewise, the company probably delivered more than $3 billion in net income in 2021.A number of Wall Street analysts are clearly excited about the long-term prospects of the \"Big Two\" in crypto, Bitcoin and Ethereum, which account for a significant portion of Coinbase's exchange-based trading revenue. They're also intrigued about the company's ventures beyond crypto exchanges, such as setting up a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace for users. NFTs are the proof of ownership of digital assets stored on blockchain.Although cryptocurrencies have handily outperformed the stock market on an aggregate basis over the past couple of years, there's also a lot of risk that comes with such a lofty price target. For example, competition among crypto exchanges is heating up, not slowing down. Among traditional stock brokerages, commission wars eventually led to the elimination of these fees. It seemingly wouldn't be difficult for other crypto exchanges to undercut Coinbase's fees.Another concern is that the company is almost entirely reliant on external factors instead of innovation to grow. With much of its growth reliant on the performance of Bitcoin and Ethereum, price weakness from the Big Two, or even a loss of interest from the investing community, could threaten to send revenue and profits markedly lower. It happened in 2018, and history suggests it could happen again.In other words, I wouldn't expect Coinbase to get anywhere near $600 in 2022.Plug Power: Implied upside of 257%Another hypergrowth stock with the potential to skyrocket this year, at least according to one Wall Street analyst, is hydrogen fuel-cell solutions provider Plug Power (NASDAQ:PLUG). Amit Dayal of H.C. Wainwright has Plug hitting a price target of $78, which implies up to 257% upside from where shares closed out January.You could certainly say that Plug Power finds itself in the right place, at the right time. Most countries are looking for ways to reduce carbon emissions and promote green-energy solutions. This means Plug's hydrogen fuel-cell solutions for vehicles and individual machines (like forklifts), as well as its hydrogen infrastructure hubs, should be in high demand for many years to come.What's really validated the potential for this company is the handful of major partnerships and joint ventures that have been struck since the beginning of 2021. For instance, SK Group took a 10% equity stake in the company in February 2021, with the duo forming a joint venture that'll focus on putting hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles on the road in numerous Asian markets. Around this time, Plug also formed a joint venture with French automaker Renault, known as Hyvia. Hyvia's goal is to go after 30% of the light commercial vehicle market in Europe.Growth expectations for the company have been nothing short of phenomenal. In 2020, Plug Power brought in $337 million in revenue. By 2024, management has forecast $1.7 billion in annual gross billings. This year alone, Wall Street anticipates sales growth will exceed 80%.Although this might sound like a slam-dunk investment, investors should also consider that Plug Power isn't yet profitable, and none of the 21 Wall Street analysts covering the company expect it to reach profitability in 2022. In an environment where interest rates are set to rise, unprofitable growth stocks often see their valuation multiples contract. While the technology and partnerships are intriguing, Plug Power has a lot to prove if it's ever going to hit $78 a share.Fiverr International: Implied upside of 216%A third hypergrowth stock with serious upside potential is online services marketplace Fiverr International (NYSE:FVRR). Though Wall Street's price targets have fluctuated wildly over the past year, the high-water estimate currently calls for Fiverr to hit $270. Should this lofty prognostication come to fruition, it would match Coinbase with a 216% gain.To some extent, Fiverr's appeal comes from being in the right place when the coronavirus pandemic hit. It's a platform that connects freelancers with buyers of their services, and the market for remote workers exploded in the wake of the pandemic. With inflation also soaring, we're witnessing a hybrid-work environment where remote workers have incredible wage-pricing power.However, Fiverr's persistently high sales growth rate is about more than just the pandemic. It's about providing a differentiated platform. Whereas competing online marketplaces push freelancers to price their services per hour, Fiverr's freelancers are pricing their services as a package deal. This leads to improved price transparency for buyers, and it's helped pushed Fiverr's take rate (what it gets to keep from arranging these deals on its platform) to levels that are well above its competition.Fiverr is interested in targeting larger businesses with its marketplace, too. The launch of subscription-based Fiverr Business in September 2020 provides bigger companies with project management and collaborative tools that help them use freelancers effectively.The big concern with Fiverr, similar to Plug Power, is the prospect of rising interest rates and the multiple contraction that typically accompanies a hawkish Federal Reserve. Wall Street's earnings forecast for 2022 is all over the place, with a consensus profit of $0.47 per share on the heels of 26% sales growth. Even with shares 75% below their all-time high, this works out to a price-to-earnings ratio of 182 and places the company at roughly 8 times projected sales.Admittedly, this is far less expensive than where it was nearly a year ago, with shares hitting $336 on an intra-day basis. Add all three of its services together and the company has 22 million monthly transacting users, leaving Grab plenty of room for growth in a Southeast Asian population of 679 million.</p><p>Grab&#39;s opportunity is extremely large, but the company has not yet proved it can take full advantage. In the most recent quarter, The company&#39;s revenue decreased 9% year over year to $157 million. Management cited short-term pandemic lockdowns in certain countries as the reason revenue fell, but some of its biggest markets -- like Singapore -- are largely open for business due to the high vaccination rates. And despite being a $21 billion company, Grab&#39;s margin profile is not good. In the first six months of 2021, the company had a gross margin of negative 28% and posted a net loss of over $1.4 billion, a figure that represents 370% of revenue.</p><p>To capitalize on the massive market opportunity and become the dominant super-app in Southeast Asia, Grab is going to need a quick turnaround. It already faces competition in the financial services business from <b>Sea Limited</b> and on the delivery and ride-hailing side is GoTo (a merger of two Southeast Asian behemoths Tokopedia and Gojek). If Grab disrupted both of these companies, it would be an amazing feat, but much harder to accomplish with negative gross margins and low growth.</p><h2>Nu Holdings</h2><p>Nu Holdings is disrupting the digital financial services industry across Latin America. The banking system in Latin America is dominated by five banks that control up to 85% of all banking revenue in Chile, Brazil, and Mexico. This dominance has resulted in almost no innovation in terms of technology, simplicity, or customer satisfaction in decades. Nu is trying to change this.</p><p>The company digitally offers users credit cards services, savings and checking accounts, loan options, investment accounts, and even insurance. These offerings appear to be popular as the three-year compound annual growth rate for customers has been 110% annually, reaching 48 million customers.</p><p>What is more important is Nu&#39;s ability to satisfy customers. The lack of innovation in the space has caused the established banks to get lots of complaints, according to Nu management. It reported that the biggest banks in the region, on average, receive 1,420 complaints per 1 million customers. Nu&#39;s customer-centric approach has resulted in less than 270 per 1 million customers.</p><p>The company has a total addressable market of over 650 million people. The digital bank is going after that market and has already started to see success. In Q3 2021, it grew its revenue 208% year over year to $481 million. Its net loss for the period was just $34 million, which grew just 5% year over year, so the company&#39;s path to profitability looks very strong.</p><h2>Nu: The clear winner</h2><p>Nu looks stronger than Grab in virtually every part of its business, which makes its stock a much better buy today. Nu and Grab have similar market sizes, yet Nu has robust competitive advantages, a better financial position, and much more impressive growth. Nu stock does trade at 42 times sales compared to Grab&#39;s 29 times sales, but Nu&#39;s quality of operations makes that premium valuation worth paying up for.</p><p>There are competitors to Nu in the digital financial services space -- mainly <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/MELI\">MercadoLibre</a></b> -- but with such a large opportunity, both Nu and MercadoLibre could win. It's a question many investors are asking themselves now that the market's hinting that it may not be as resilient as it has been since March of last year.</p>\n<p>The <b>S&amp;P 500</b> (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) is only down a little more than 2% from its early September highs, but things feel different about this lull. Not only is this usually a tough time of year for the market, but a couple of indices (and some individual stocks) are starting to trade under key levels that technical analysts have been eying for a while. When those lines in the sand are crossed, they don't change long-term fundamentals, but those events can certainly signal -- and even start -- steep sell-offs.</p>\n<p>The thing is, even if a major correction is in the cards, don't sweat it. Here are four specific reasons why you don't need to panic.</p>\n<p><b>1. Corrections and bear markets happen, but they've never been permanent in the U.S.</b></p>\n<p>Just since the rebound from 2008's subprime mortgage meltdown and subsequent bear market, the S&amp;P 500 has fallen by at least 10% (from high to low) 11 different times. The index has also tumbled by more than 20% from peak to trough twice during that time frame -- bear markets in their own right by the most common definition of what constitutes <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a>. That's more or less the same pace and rate of corrections the market experienced prior to 2008, going back nearly 100 years to the crash of 1929.</p>\n<p>The number of these big declines that didn't eventually get wiped away with rebounds back to pre-crash peaks and beyond? Zero. Nada. Zilch. Some of Wall Street's plunges have taken longer than others to unwind, but thus far, every single one has been followed eventually by a run-up to new record highs.</p>\n<p>For better or worse, corrections are the market's way of reassessing what investors are willing to pay for stocks relative to their risks. The underlying drivers of economic growth have never really gone away though, and the ability to benefit from that growth is ultimately what stock investments are meant to offer investors.</p>\n<p><b>2. Crashes are impossible to predict accurately anyway</b></p>\n<p>There's a famous quote from economist Paul Samuelson: \"The stock market has predicted nine of the past five recessions.\"</p>\n<p>That quip has since become an overused cliche, but it's informative all the same. Investors tend to anticipate a great number of negative situations that never come to pass, missing out on opportunities as a result.</p>\n<p>That's not to suggest crashes and recessions don't happen. The fact is, however, we never really know the true condition of the economy at any specific time until well after the fact when the indicative data is published, at which point, it doesn't really help with making investing decisions anymore. Guessing about economic conditions and short-term directions is a game best left unplayed. Staying invested in stocks even when things feel scary is statistically the better bet.</p>\n<p><b>3. Stress causes you to make bad decisions</b></p>\n<p>Not only is predicting pullbacks difficult to do with any degree of accuracy, but the stress associated with trying to perfectly time your entries and exits into stocks can cause you to make ill-advised decisions.</p>\n<p>There's a science-based explanation of why this is so. A 2017 study performed by MIT researchers determined that chronic stress explicitly leads people to make higher-risk decisions, by over-activating the neurons in your medial prefrontal cortex. This effectively blurs the mental lines that divide good choices from bad choices.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/564620c11bfe4c4798ae44fcf0345747\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"></p>\n<p>Image source: Getty Images.</p>\n<p>In a similar but simpler vein, consider the fight-or-flight dichotomy we all face when put into speed-sensitive, stressful, life-or-death situations (and financial ones, too).</p>\n<p>Your brain is actually doing something quite clever in these instances (from an evolutionary perspective), mostly to give your body its best chance of survival. Namely, it's limiting your focus to your two best accessible options given the circumstances. One them is fleeing via the safest route, and the other is fighting your threat head-on in a way that allows you to see everything you can about the danger. Your brain deliberately doesn't serve up more nuanced alternatives when you're feeling pressured, as simplicity translates into vital decision-making speed. For investors though, it's often one of the nuanced, in-between options -- like selling just some of your stocks -- that would be the wisest choice.</p>\n<p>So, take a breath, take a step back, and remember that choosing not to do anything at all is a viable choice. You just have to make that decision in advance and tell yourself to stick with it even when the market is plunging.</p>\n<p><b>4. Corrections are buying opportunities</b></p>\n<p>Finally, investors should keep in mind that pullbacks are buying opportunities for stocks that were previously too expensive to step into.</p>\n<p>Holding on to that idea is easier said than done. Jumping into new stocks while they're falling feels about the same as trying to catch a falling knife ... dangerous (not to mention stressful). Just keep reason No. 1 in mind though. Historically, U.S. stock market corrections have eventually stopped and reversed. Most of them stopped and reversed sooner than later.</p>\n<p>And if you're still struggling to view big dips as buying opportunities, here's one last tip that should help: Make your \"buy\" list beforehand. Pick the stocks you want to purchase and the top prices you're willing to pay for them before any marketwide correction. That way, once things start to fall apart, you'll have a plan in place that was crafted before you were being swayed by the emotions that swell up when the market is crashing. It's a question many investors are asking themselves now that the market's hinting that it may not be as resilient as it has been since March of last year.\nThe S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) is only down a little more than 2% from its early September highs, but things feel different about this lull. Not only is this usually a tough time of year for the market, but a couple of indices (and some individual stocks) are starting to trade under key levels that technical analysts have been eying for a while. When those lines in the sand are crossed, they don't change long-term fundamentals, but those events can certainly signal -- and even start -- steep sell-offs.\nThe thing is, even if a major correction is in the cards, don't sweat it. Here are four specific reasons why you don't need to panic.\n1. Corrections and bear markets happen, but they've never been permanent in the U.S.\nJust since the rebound from 2008's subprime mortgage meltdown and subsequent bear market, the S&P 500 has fallen by at least 10% (from high to low) 11 different times. The index has also tumbled by more than 20% from peak to trough twice during that time frame -- bear markets in their own right by the most common definition of what constitutes one. That's more or less the same pace and rate of corrections the market experienced prior to 2008, going back nearly 100 years to the crash of 1929.\nThe number of these big declines that didn't eventually get wiped away with rebounds back to pre-crash peaks and beyond? Zero. Nada. Zilch. Some of Wall Street's plunges have taken longer than others to unwind, but thus far, every single one has been followed eventually by a run-up to new record highs.\nFor better or worse, corrections are the market's way of reassessing what investors are willing to pay for stocks relative to their risks. The underlying drivers of economic growth have never really gone away though, and the ability to benefit from that growth is ultimately what stock investments are meant to offer investors.\n2. Crashes are impossible to predict accurately anyway\nThere's a famous quote from economist Paul Samuelson: \"The stock market has predicted nine of the past five recessions.\"\nThat quip has since become an overused cliche, but it's informative all the same. Investors tend to anticipate a great number of negative situations that never come to pass, missing out on opportunities as a result.\nThat's not to suggest crashes and recessions don't happen. The fact is, however, we never really know the true condition of the economy at any specific time until well after the fact when the indicative data is published, at which point, it doesn't really help with making investing decisions anymore. Guessing about economic conditions and short-term directions is a game best left unplayed. Staying invested in stocks even when things feel scary is statistically the better bet.\n3. Stress causes you to make bad decisions\nNot only is predicting pullbacks difficult to do with any degree of accuracy, but the stress associated with trying to perfectly time your entries and exits into stocks can cause you to make ill-advised decisions.\nThere's a science-based explanation of why this is so. A 2017 study performed by MIT researchers determined that chronic stress explicitly leads people to make higher-risk decisions, by over-activating the neurons in your medial prefrontal cortex. This effectively blurs the mental lines that divide good choices from bad choices.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nIn a similar but simpler vein, consider the fight-or-flight dichotomy we all face when put into speed-sensitive, stressful, life-or-death situations (and financial ones, too).\nYour brain is actually doing something quite clever in these instances (from an evolutionary perspective), mostly to give your body its best chance of survival. Namely, it's limiting your focus to your two best accessible options given the circumstances. One them is fleeing via the safest route, and the other is fighting your threat head-on in a way that allows you to see everything you can about the danger. Your brain deliberately doesn't serve up more nuanced alternatives when you're feeling pressured, as simplicity translates into vital decision-making speed. For investors though, it's often one of the nuanced, in-between options -- like selling just some of your stocks -- that would be the wisest choice.\nSo, take a breath, take a step back, and remember that choosing not to do anything at all is a viable choice. You just have to make that decision in advance and tell yourself to stick with it even when the market is plunging.\n4. Corrections are buying opportunities\nFinally, investors should keep in mind that pullbacks are buying opportunities for stocks that were previously too expensive to step into.\nHolding on to that idea is easier said than done. Jumping into new stocks while they're falling feels about the same as trying to catch a falling knife ... dangerous (not to mention stressful). Just keep reason No. 1 in mind though. Historically, U.S. stock market corrections have eventually stopped and reversed. Most of them stopped and reversed sooner than later.\nAnd if you're still struggling to view big dips as buying opportunities, here's one last tip that should help: Make your \"buy\" list beforehand. Pick the stocks you want to purchase and the top prices you're willing to pay for them before any marketwide correction. That way, once things start to fall apart, you'll have a plan in place that was crafted before you were being swayed by the emotions that swell up when the market is crashing. That's half the The company&#39;s core services -- delivery and ride-hailing -- had over $2.8 billion in gross merchandise volume spent on its platform in the third quarter of 2021. Add all three of its services together and the company has 22 million monthly transacting users, leaving Grab plenty of room for growth in a Southeast Asian population of 679 million.</p><p>Grab&#39;s opportunity is extremely large, but the company has not yet proved it can take full advantage. In the most recent quarter, The company&#39;s revenue decreased 9% year over year to $157 million. Management cited short-term pandemic lockdowns in certain countries as the reason revenue fell, but some of its biggest markets -- like Singapore -- are largely open for business due to the high vaccination rates. And despite being a $21 billion company, Grab&#39;s margin profile is not good. In the first six months of 2021, the company had a gross margin of negative 28% and posted a net loss of over $1.4 billion, a figure that represents 370% of revenue.</p><p>To capitalize on the massive market opportunity and become the dominant super-app in Southeast Asia, Grab is going to need a quick turnaround. It already faces competition in the financial services business from <b>Sea Limited</b> and on the delivery and ride-hailing side is GoTo (a merger of two Southeast Asian behemoths Tokopedia and Gojek). If Grab disrupted both of these companies, it would be an amazing feat, but much harder to accomplish with negative gross margins and low growth.</p><h2>Nu Holdings</h2><p>Nu Holdings is disrupting the digital financial services industry across Latin America. The banking system in Latin America is dominated by five banks that control up to 85% of all banking revenue in Chile, Brazil, and Mexico. This dominance has resulted in almost no innovation in terms of technology, simplicity, or customer satisfaction in decades. Nu is trying to change this.</p><p>The company digitally offers users credit cards services, savings and checking accounts, loan options, investment accounts, and even insurance. These offerings appear to be popular as the three-year compound annual growth rate for customers has been 110% annually, reaching 48 million customers.</p><p>What is more important is Nu&#39;s ability to satisfy customers. The lack of innovation in the space has caused the established banks to get lots of complaints, according to Nu management. It reported that the biggest banks in the region, on average, receive 1,420 complaints per 1 million customers. Nu&#39;s customer-centric approach has resulted in less than 270 per 1 million customers.</p><p>The company has a total addressable market of over 650 million people. The digital bank is going after that market and has already started to see success. In Q3 2021, it grew its revenue 208% year over year to $481 million. Its net loss for the period was just $34 million, which grew just 5% year over year, so the company&#39;s path to profitability looks very strong.</p><h2>Nu: The clear winner</h2><p>Nu looks stronger than Grab in virtually every part of its business, which makes its stock a much better buy today. Nu and Grab have similar market sizes, yet Nu has robust competitive advantages, a better financial position, and much more impressive growth.
