The video game retailer shed 27.2% even after announcing two high-profile executive hires from Amazon. The movie theater chain dropped 13.2% on Thursday, turning negative on the week.\nAnother red-hot meme stockClover Health, which at one point was the focus of the WallStreetBets message board this week, pulled back 15.3% on Thursday.Clean Energy Fuels, which rallied more than 31% just Wednesday, tumbled 15.6%.\nMEME STOCKS TAKING A HIT\n\n\n\nTICKER\nCOMPANY\nPRICE\nCHANGE\n%CHANGE\n\n\n\n\nGME\nGameStop Corp\n220.39\n-82.17\n-27.1582\n\n\nAMC\nAMC Entertainment Holdings Inc\n42.81\n-6.53\n-13.2347\n\n\nCLNE\nClean Energy Fuels Corp\n10.99\n-2.03\n-15.5914\n\n\nCLOV\nClover Health Investments Corp\n14.34\n-2.58\n-15.2482\n\n\n\nIf the January trading mania is any guide, it's not surprising that these latest rallies are turning out to be short-lived. A CNBC PRO analysis found that on average, Reddit stocks' runs lasted nine trading days from the start to their first big drop during the initial frenzy at the beginning of 2021.\nCNBC identified the starting point for five stocks popular on message boards earlier this year — GameStop, AMC,Bed Bath & Beyond,BlackBerryandKoss— by finding the first time each stocks' single-day trading volume at least doubled its 30-day moving average of shares traded. That typically represents the point at which a flurry of new investors took interest in a stock that was not being heavily traded.\nOn Thursday, GameStop investors seemed to be running for the exits afterthe company said it appointed former Amazon executive Matt Furlong as its new CEO.It also picked another Amazon veteran, Mike Recupero, as chief financial officer. As has been the case for most of the past year, Buffett was active in the financial sector, mostly reducing Berkshire Hathaway's positions in banks. At the company's annual investor day earlier this month, Buffett provided some explanation for all the stock selling he's done in that sector.
\n
\"I like banks generally,\" he said, \"I just didn't like the proportion we had compared to the possible risk if we got the bad results that so far we haven't gotten.\"
\n
Let's review the three big changes Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway made to their bank holdings in the first quarter.
\n
\n
1. All but eliminating Wells Fargo
\n
Everyone knew it was coming, but Buffett all but made it official last quarter, nearly eliminating his position in his onetime favorite bank, Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC). Berkshire Hathaway sold 51.7 million shares, dropping its stake to a mere 675,000 shares valued at $26.3 million.
\n
This essentially ends what was an epic run for the Oracle of Omaha and Wells Fargo. Buffett first purchased shares in the large U.S. bank in 1989, and by 1994, he had acquired more than 13% of its outstanding shares. At the end of the third quarter of 2019, before the pandemic, Buffett's stake, which had a rough original cost basis of just below $9 billion, was worth close to $20 billion. And at one point back in 2017, it was reportedly worth as much as $29 billion.
\n
But as the fallout of Wells Fargo's phony accounts scandal and other revelations about its consumer abuses continued to play out, Buffett began to lose faith in the institution and started trimming his position. It looks like Buffett ultimately ended up making much less on his Wells Fargo investment than he could have, considering he sold more than 323 million shares between the end of Q1 2020 and the end of Q1 2021. During that 12-month period, the bank's shares traded from a low of $21.45 to a high of $39.07. At the end of 2019, they traded north of $53.
\n
The stock closed at $45.73 on Thursday, and many investors still believe Wells Fargo is undervalued these days, trading at 135% tangible book value (equity minus intangible assets and goodwill). Bank valuations have shot up in recent months, and Wells Fargo in particular could see more tailwinds when the Federal Reserve lifts the $1.95 trillion asset cap that the bank has been operating under since 2018.
\n
2. Dumping Synchrony Financial
\n
Last quarter, Berkshire Hathaway also eliminated its entire stake in the consumer finance credit card company Synchrony Financial (NYSE:SYF), selling its 21.1 million shares. Synchrony uses what it calls a \"partner-centric\" business model under which it teams up with leading retailers and digital brands that promote Synchrony's credit cards. Consumers can get deals on specific purchases by opening Synchrony credit cards, which are often branded under a retailer's name.
\n
While I wouldn't say I saw this move coming, it doesn't entirely surprise me. Over the last year, Buffett has become even more selective about which banks he wants to own. He seems to be picking a winner or two in each banking industry subcategory -- for instance, he sold his stake in America's largest bank, JPMorgan Chase, and loaded up on America's second-largest bank, Bank of America.
\n
Considering that Buffett already has a huge position in American Express, and loves the brand, that is likely going to be his pick for a credit-card-focused holding. Berkshire Hathaway likely made a good profit on that Synchrony investment, though, considering that the stock hit its highest level ever during Q1.
\n
3. Trimming U.S. Bancorp again
\n
Berkshire Hathaway also sold about 1.45 million shares of U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB) in the first quarter -- but it still owns nearly 129.7 million shares. The Oracle of Omaha has sold small quantities of shares of the Minnesota-based regional bank a few times over the last year, and it's a bit unclear why. It does appear that he has made U.S. Bancorp his regional bank pick, though. He sold off his other regional bank holdings, including his stakes in PNC Financial Services Group and M&T Bank, in the fourth quarter of 2020.
\n
One possible explanation relates to Buffett's well-known desire to keep his stakes in those banks below 10%, so he can avoid the additional reporting requirements that a higher ownership level would trigger. At the end of the first quarter, Buffett owned about 8.7% of U.S. Bancorp's outstanding shares. So his stock sale may have simply been a move to prepare for the bank's planned share repurchases, which should accelerate later this year. Last quarter's adjustment should maintain Berkshire Hathaway's stake at a level comfortably under the 10% threshold, even after U.S. Bancorp's total share count is reduced.
\n
Overall, I still feel confident that Buffett plans to stick with U.S. Bancorp, although I will continue to watch his moves in upcoming quarters to see if he further reduces his stake in it.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Here Are the 3 Bank Moves Warren Buffett Has Made So Far in 2021
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nHere Are the 3 Bank Moves Warren Buffett Has Made So Far in 2021\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-05-21 23:36 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A) (NYSE:BRK.B) recently filed its 13F form for the first quarter of 2021, detailing what stock sales and purchases the conglomerate and the legendary investor in charge, ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"SYF":"Synchrony Financial","USB":"美国合众银行","BRK.A":"伯克希尔","WFC":"富国银行","BRK.B":"伯克希尔B"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/05/21/here-are-the-3-bank-moves-warren-buffett-has-made/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2137906121","content_text":"Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A) (NYSE:BRK.B) recently filed its 13F form for the first quarter of 2021, detailing what stock sales and purchases the conglomerate and the legendary investor in charge, Warren Buffett, made during the period. As has been the case for most of the past year, Buffett was active in the financial sector, mostly reducing Berkshire Hathaway's positions in banks. At the company's annual investor day earlier this month, Buffett provided some explanation for all the stock selling he's done in that sector.\n\"I like banks generally,\" he said, \"I just didn't like the proportion we had compared to the possible risk if we got the bad results that so far we haven't gotten.\"\nLet's review the three big changes Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway made to their bank holdings in the first quarter.\nImage source: Getty Images.\n1. All but eliminating Wells Fargo\nEveryone knew it was coming, but Buffett all but made it official last quarter, nearly eliminating his position in his onetime favorite bank, Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC). Berkshire Hathaway sold 51.7 million shares, dropping its stake to a mere 675,000 shares valued at $26.3 million.\nThis essentially ends what was an epic run for the Oracle of Omaha and Wells Fargo. And at one point back in 2017, it was reportedly worth as much as $29 billion.\nBut as the fallout of Wells Fargo's phony accounts scandal and other revelations about its consumer abuses continued to play out, Buffett began to lose faith in the institution and started trimming his position. At the end of 2019, they traded north of $53.\nThe stock closed at $45.73 on Thursday, and many investors still believe Wells Fargo is undervalued these days, trading at 135% tangible book value (equity minus intangible assets and goodwill). Bank valuations have shot up in recent months, and Wells Fargo in particular could see more tailwinds when the Federal Reserve lifts the $1.95 trillion asset cap that the bank has been operating under since 2018.\n2. Dumping Synchrony Financial\nLast quarter, Berkshire Hathaway also eliminated its entire stake in the consumer finance credit card company Synchrony Financial (NYSE:SYF), selling its 21.1 million shares. Synchrony uses what it calls a \"partner-centric\" business model under which it teams up with leading retailers and digital brands that promote Synchrony's credit cards. Consumers can get deals on specific purchases by opening Synchrony credit cards, which are often branded under a retailer's name.\nWhile I wouldn't say I saw this move coming, it doesn't entirely surprise me. Over the last year, Buffett has become even more selective about which banks he wants to own. He seems to be picking a winner or two in each banking industry subcategory -- for instance, he sold his stake in America's largest bank, JPMorgan Chase, and loaded up on America's second-largest bank, Bank of America.\nConsidering that Buffett already has a huge position in American Express, and loves the brand, that is likely going to be his pick for a credit-card-focused holding. Berkshire Hathaway likely made a good profit on that Synchrony investment, though, considering that the stock hit its highest level ever during Q1.\n3. Trimming U.S. Bancorp again\nBerkshire Hathaway also sold about 1.45 million shares of U.S. \nOne possible explanation relates to Buffett's well-known desire to keep his stakes in those banks below 10%, so he can avoid the additional reporting requirements that a higher ownership level would trigger. \nOverall, I still feel confident that Buffett plans to stick with U.S. Bancorp, although I will continue to watch his moves in upcoming quarters to see if he further reduces his stake in it.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":437,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":139733013,"gmtCreate":1621655858933,"gmtModify":1704361136609,"author":{"id":"3579911416524208","authorId":"3579911416524208","name":"OneArmBoi","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fcd7523312cd34fe1ab66063bdbdaf30","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579911416524208","authorIdStr":"3579911416524208"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/139733013","repostId":"1198772655","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":360,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":139739638,"gmtCreate":1621655829724,"gmtModify":1704361135633,"author":{"id":"3579911416524208","authorId":"3579911416524208","name":"OneArmBoi","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fcd7523312cd34fe1ab66063bdbdaf30","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579911416524208","authorIdStr":"3579911416524208"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cmon novavax","listText":"Cmon novavax","text":"Cmon novavax","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/139739638","repostId":"1153943475","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1153943475","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1621610182,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1153943475?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-21 23:16","market":"us","language":"en","title":"U.S., South Korea Announce Vaccine, Semiconductor Partnership","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1153943475","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Commerce Secretary Raimondo met with South Korea’s Moon Friday\nSouth Korea needs Covid vaccines, U.S","content":"
\n
Commerce Secretary Raimondo met with South Korea’s Moon Friday
\n
South Korea needs Covid vaccines, U.S. faces chip shortage
\n
\n
U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and South Korean President Moon Jae-in announced an agreement to deepen cooperation in a range of industries including pharmaceutical companies making Covid-19 vaccines, electric-vehicle batteries and semiconductor producers.
\n
“The importance of this bilateral relationship for both nations cannot be overstated,” Raimondo said. “As we recover from the pandemic, our countries will benefit from deepening that collaboration, particularly in sectors that are critical to the future of our economies.”
\n
Gina RaimondoPhotographer: Leigh Vogel/UPI/Bloomberg
\n
South Korea is eager to secure supplies of Covid-19 vaccines that the U.S. has recently allowed to be exported. A company of this size reporting revenue growth of more than 53% over the prior year period was truly remarkable. Yes, the company has benefited from soft earlier year comparisons and the work from home tailwinds, but you can't argue that its products are not in high demand. As great as Apple's numbers have been lately, it might prove to be a risk later this year.
\n
I am saying today that Apple could be a victim of its own success because the stock market is always a what have you done for me lately crowd. As the chart below shows, the high revenue growth rates we'll see are expected to come crashing down once we hit the December quarter (fiscal Q1 2022). That 53% growth figure for the March 2021 quarter sets up an insanely high bar that analysts don't think can be repeated next year. Blue bars are actual results, while green ones are current street average estimates.
\n
(Source: Seeking Alpha estimates page)
\n
I'm sure the Apple bear crowd will be out in full force if Apple guides to or reports a revenue decline for fiscal Q2 2022. Of course, a small top line decline then would still be a tremendous quarter when looking at the longer term picture. Even though analysts are currently looking for a 2.2% revenue decline in that March 2022 quarter, the average revenue estimate for that period has risen by nearly 16% over the past six months, for example. Over the past year, the average is up by almost $20 billion.
\n
Apple has been helped by the coronavirus in the short term, not only from the work from home crowd buying more tablets and computers, but by the massive stimulus provided by global governments. While those tailwinds will calm down in the coming quarters, economies should be doing better so consumer spending should remain fairly decent. Even though central banks may start to tighten their monetary policy a little, they are certainly not going to do anything severe that will crash things again.
\n
The other issue for Apple regarding the coronavirus was the timing of major launches. With factories shut down for a time in 2020, the iPhone release schedule for last year changed in a meaningful way. Instead of seeing one or more phones available to consumers in September, two iPhone 12 models went on sale in late October, with the other two in mid-November. If Apple returns to a normal schedule this year, it will pull billions of revenue forward into the September 2021 (fiscal Q4) quarter. That could further make the early 2022 comparisons tougher to match, giving more fuel to the bears.
\n
When Apple has a big sales year, like it is having with the iPhone currently, investors worry that the next cycle won't be as strong in terms of unit sales. I'm not as concerned this time around with that, partially because consumers are going to want and need to upgrade to 5G smartphones, and that should fuel a multi-year upgrade period. The other thing that could help is if Apple follows what it did with the iPad Pro launch from earlier this year. Take a look at the following table which shows the initial pricing of the larger screen Pro tablet version over the years. There are also the Cellular models that will cost a little bit more, but for this argument, I'm only showing the base Wi-Fi model.
\n
(Source: iPad Pro wikipedia page)
\n
Because of both the advancements in technology as well as larger storage, Apple has raised prices significantly over the years. The most expensive version of this tablet has doubled in price since 2015, and the three lowest storage versions are up $100 each over their prior year counterpart. Thus, if you are arguing that iPad unit sales may be down 5-10% a year from now, it may not be a big deal if Apple is seeing average selling prices that are up 15-20% over that time. I could see a similar thing happening with the iPhone this year, depending on how many older generations stick around and whether or not Apple launches a 1 TB storage option for the smartphone.
\n
Even if Apple's results aren't as tremendous as some hope they might be moving forward, this company is still doing incredibly well. Free cash flow could be well over $80 billion this year, allowing for a dividend and huge buyback. Don't forget that as shares stay around this $125 level, the repurchasing of shares becomes more significant each quarter as the share count comes down. $20 billion in buybacks every three months at a $2.1 trillion market cap does more than at a $2.2 trillion valuation, for example, and earnings per share will continue to benefit.
\n
Wednesday was another important day for Apple. With the market dropping at the open, Apple fell below its 200-day moving average (green line below). However, the stock was able to regain this key technical level and close above it. As the chart below shows, shares are currently stuck between the 50 and 200-day moving averages, and both lines are mostly flat at this point. Should the stock be able to get back above the shorter term trend line, it could provide a level of support moving forward.
\n
(Source: Yahoo! Two massive blowout quarters have not only sent analyst estimates through the roof, but set high bars for future quarters. While the company's sales will remain in an uptrend over the long term, I'm sure the bears will surface if the top line is forecast to decline, especially if a normal iPhone launch pulls sales forward. A company of this size reporting revenue growth of more than 53% over the prior year period was truly remarkable. Yes, the company has benefited from soft earlier year comparisons and the work from home tailwinds, but you can't argue that its products are not in high demand. As great as Apple's numbers have been lately, it might prove to be a risk later this year.\nI am saying today that Apple could be a victim of its own success because the stock market is always a what have you done for me lately crowd. But one shouldn't forget that this same index has jumped more than 240% in the past five years, which means that a $5,000 investment in the index would be worth $17,000 now.
\n
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) stock has done even better over five years, rising over 1,850% and turning $5,000 into nearly $100,000. Rival graphics card specialist NVIDIA(NASDAQ:NVDA)has soared over 1,200% over a similar period. Both stocks have pulled back thanks to the tech sell-off, but these two stocks could deliver outsized gains over the next five years as well, thanks to the catalysts they are sitting on. Let's find out why.
\n
\n
1. Advanced Micro Devices
\n
AMD's fortunes have changed big time over the past five years. A competitive product lineup has allowed it to take market share away from Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) in the x86 processor market, a trend that's expected to continue in the next five years.
\n
AMD DATA BY YCHARTS
\n
AMD has made solid progress in the PC market through its Ryzen CPUs (central processing units) and Radeon GPUs (graphics processing units). According to the latest data from Steam Hardware Survey for April, AMD now controls almost 29.5% of the PC CPU space. It controlled 25% of the market in December 2020, with Intel holding the rest. Steam data is a credible source for PC market share information, as the platform is used by 120 million monthly active users worldwide.
\n
Meanwhile, Mercury Research estimates that AMD's desktop PC market share increased to 19.3% at the end of the first quarter, up from just 11.4% four years ago. It also holds 18% of the mobile CPU market. AMD's CPU market share is expected to jump as high as 50% in 2021 as per Wall Street. This doesn't seem surprising given thetechnology advantage AMD enjoys over Intel, as well as Chipzilla's troubles with getting its latest chips out of the gate.
\n
AMD has also turned on the heat in the laptop market. The company's Ryzen 5000 mobile processors are expected to power 50% more models this year and pave the way for more market share gains.
\n
Meanwhile, AMD has made solid progress in the server processor market, finishing Q1 with an 8.9% share. It was nowhere to be seen in server processors four years ago, but the arrival of the EPYC chips has given it a big shot in the arm. AMD is poised to take away more market share from Intel in servers in the coming years and could make billions of dollars from this space.
\n
On the other hand, the arrival of the latest gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft that are powered by AMD's chips is moving the needle in a big way for the chipmaker. The PlayStation 5 has sold 7.8 million units so far. It is expected to sell over 200 million units over its lifetime, according to an analyst at Japanese firm Rakuten Securities, as compared to 116 million units of the previous generation PS4.
\n
What's more, AMD is reportedly getting 80% more revenue from each unit of the PS5 over the PS4. So, a combination of higher shipments and stronger revenue from each gaming console should unlock a massive revenue opportunity for the company in the long run. Not surprisingly, analysts expect AMD to deliver almost 30% annual earnings growth over the next five years -- making it a top growth stock where one can park $5,000 right now, given that it is trading at less than 28 times forward earnings.
\n
2. NVIDIA
\n
NVIDIA has come a long way in the past five years. The chipmaker has branched out into several fast-growing applications such as data centers, artificial intelligence, autonomous cars, and 5G wireless networks from supplying graphics cards for gaming PCs.
\n
NVDA DATA BY YCHARTS
\n
Gaming continues to be NVIDIA's biggest source of revenue, accounting for 46% of its top line last fiscal year. The segment's revenue was up 41% in fiscal 2021 to $7.7 billion, thanks to the launch of NVIDIA's new RTX 30 series graphics cards, which have set the sales charts on fire by triggering a massive upgrade cycle.
\n
NVIDIA estimates that 85% of its installed base is yet to upgrade to the RTX series cards, which pack a huge performance bump at aggressive price points over prior generation cards. That's a huge opportunity, as NVIDIA's installed base of gaming graphics cards stands at 140 million. More importantly, the company's new GPUs are driving an increase in the average selling price (ASP).
\n
The latest Ampere-based GPUs recorded an ASP of $360 in the first six months of their launch thanks to an increase in the proportion of customers buying higher-priced cards. That's 20% higher than the previous generation Turing cards that had an ASP of $300 in the initial six months, and well above the $245 ASP of the Pascal cards that were released five years ago.
\n
\n
So, NVIDIA's gaming business could keep growing at a terrific pace over the next five years thanks to a combination of strong volumes and improved pricing. Jon Peddie Research estimates that 41.5 million discrete GPUs were sold in 2020, and NVIDIA dominated this market with a share of 82% at the end of the year. This bodes well for NVIDIA's future, as the GPU market is expected to clock annual growth of nearly 34% through 2027 as per third-party estimates.
\n
Beyond gaming, NVIDIA is sitting on huge opportunities in nascent markets such as self-driving cars. The company has struck several partnerships in this space and has already lined up automotive design wins worth $8 billion for the next five years. This figure could keep growing thanks to NVIDIA's solid product roadmap, which indicates that it is working on more powerful self-driving platforms that should hit the market in the coming years.
\n
Throw in the fact that NVIDIA's terrific growth in the data center market won't be fading any time soon, and investors will have one more reason to hold on to this tech titan. The data center business generated $6.7 billion in revenue in FY21, up 124% year over year. It accounted for 40% of the total revenue. NVIDIA is now branching out into new areas to ensure that this business keeps growing at elevated rates.
\n
It recently announced the Grace CPU, a server processor that's expected to go on sale in 2023. But one shouldn't forget that this same index has jumped more than 240% in the past five years, which means that a $5,000 investment in the index would be worth $17,000 now.\nAdvanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) stock has done even better over five years, rising over 1,850% and turning $5,000 into nearly $100,000. Let's find out why.\nIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.\n1. Advanced Micro Devices\nAMD's fortunes have changed big time over the past five years. A competitive product lineup has allowed it to take market share away from Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) in the x86 processor market, a trend that's expected to continue in the next five years.\nAMD DATA BY YCHARTS\nAMD has made solid progress in the PC market through its Ryzen CPUs (central processing units) and Radeon GPUs (graphics processing units). According to the latest data from Steam Hardware Survey for April, AMD now controls almost 29.5% of the PC CPU space. It controlled 25% of the market in December 2020, with Intel holding the rest. Steam data is a credible source for PC market share information, as the platform is used by 120 million monthly active users worldwide.\nMeanwhile, Mercury Research estimates that AMD's desktop PC market share increased to 19.3% at the end of the first quarter, up from just 11.4% four years ago. It also holds 18% of the mobile CPU market. AMD's CPU market share is expected to jump as high as 50% in 2021 as per Wall Street. This doesn't seem surprising given thetechnology advantage AMD enjoys over Intel, as well as Chipzilla's troubles with getting its latest chips out of the gate.\nAMD has also turned on the heat in the laptop market. The company's Ryzen 5000 mobile processors are expected to power 50% more models this year and pave the way for more market share gains.\nMeanwhile, AMD has made solid progress in the server processor market, finishing Q1 with an 8.9% share. It was nowhere to be seen in server processors four years ago, but the arrival of the EPYC chips has given it a big shot in the arm. AMD is poised to take away more market share from Intel in servers in the coming years and could make billions of dollars from this space.\nOn the other hand, the arrival of the latest gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft that are powered by AMD's chips is moving the needle in a big way for the chipmaker. The PlayStation 5 has sold 7.8 million units so far. It is expected to sell over 200 million units over its lifetime, according to an analyst at Japanese firm Rakuten Securities, as compared to 116 million units of the previous generation PS4.\nWhat's more, AMD is reportedly getting 80% more revenue from each unit of the PS5 over the PS4. So, a combination of higher shipments and stronger revenue from each gaming console should unlock a massive revenue opportunity for the company in the long run. Not surprisingly, analysts expect AMD to deliver almost 30% annual earnings growth over the next five years -- making it a top growth stock where one can park $5,000 right now, given that it is trading at less than 28 times forward earnings.\n2. NVIDIA\nNVIDIA has come a long way in the past five years. The chipmaker has branched out into several fast-growing applications such as data centers, artificial intelligence, autonomous cars, and 5G wireless networks from supplying graphics cards for gaming PCs.\nNVDA DATA BY YCHARTS\nGaming continues to be NVIDIA's biggest source of revenue, accounting for 46% of its top line last fiscal year. The segment's revenue was up 41% in fiscal 2021 to $7.7 billion, thanks to the launch of NVIDIA's new RTX 30 series graphics cards, which have set the sales charts on fire by triggering a massive upgrade cycle.\nNVIDIA estimates that 85% of its installed base is yet to upgrade to the RTX series cards, which pack a huge performance bump at aggressive price points over prior generation cards. That's a huge opportunity, as NVIDIA's installed base of gaming graphics cards stands at 140 million. More importantly, the company's new GPUs are driving an increase in the average selling price (ASP).\nThe latest Ampere-based GPUs recorded an ASP of $360 in the first six months of their launch thanks to an increase in the proportion of customers buying higher-priced cards. That's 20% higher than the previous generation Turing cards that had an ASP of $300 in the initial six months, and well above the $245 ASP of the Pascal cards that were released five years ago.\nIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.\nSo, NVIDIA's gaming business could keep growing at a terrific pace over the next five years thanks to a combination of strong volumes and improved pricing. Jon Peddie Research estimates that 41.5 million discrete GPUs were sold in 2020, and NVIDIA dominated this market with a share of 82% at the end of the year. This bodes well for NVIDIA's future, as the GPU market is expected to clock annual growth of nearly 34% through 2027 as per third-party estimates.\nBeyond gaming, NVIDIA is sitting on huge opportunities in nascent markets such as self-driving cars. The company has struck several partnerships in this space and has already lined up automotive design wins worth $8 billion for the next five years. This figure could keep growing thanks to NVIDIA's solid product roadmap, which indicates that it is working on more powerful self-driving platforms that should hit the market in the coming years.\nThrow in the fact that NVIDIA's terrific growth in the data center market won't be fading any time soon, and investors will have one more reason to hold on to this tech titan. The data center business generated $6.7 billion in revenue in FY21, up 124% year over year. It accounted for 40% of the total revenue. NVIDIA is now branching out into new areas to ensure that this business keeps growing at elevated rates.\nIt recently announced the Grace CPU, a server processor that's expected to go on sale in 2023. This would be new territory for NVIDIA, and success here could supercharge the company's data center business, as the server processor market is expected to be worth $19 billion by 2023.\nSo, NVIDIA still has a lot of room for growth. Analysts forecast 20%-plus annual earnings growth for the next five years, though NVIDIA could do better if the new opportunities it is attacking bear fruit. In all, NVIDIA looks like a top stock where investors can park $5,000, as it is set for multi-year growth and trades at an attractive 36 times forward earnings as compared to 2020's average multiple of 46.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":317,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3583025625698124","authorId":"3583025625698124","name":"Cyberboyz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bda6a2e3c6fe5eaf97f2228f49f8e497","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3583025625698124","authorIdStr":"3583025625698124"},"content":"Like and comments","text":"Like and comments","html":"Like and comments"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":130657606,"gmtCreate":1621547551505,"gmtModify":1704359291167,"author":{"id":"3579911416524208","authorId":"3579911416524208","name":"OneArmBoi","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fcd7523312cd34fe1ab66063bdbdaf30","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579911416524208","authorIdStr":"3579911416524208"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"To the moon","listText":"To the moon","text":"To the moon","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/130657606","repostId":"1180231636","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1180231636","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1621523836,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1180231636?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-20 23:17","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Apple: Victim Of Its Own Success","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1180231636","media":"seekingalpha","summary":"Summary\n\nInvestors will likely fret over revenue growth rates later this year.\nRegular iPhone launch","content":"
Summary
\n
\n
Investors will likely fret over revenue growth rates later this year.
\n
Regular iPhone launch timing could pull forward meaningful sales.
\n
As stock stays flat, buyback can become more powerful.
\n
\n
Photo by Paopano/iStock Editorial via Getty Images
\n
Technology giant Apple (AAPL) reported a massive earnings blowout a few weeks ago, and the numbers were truly staggering.
Finance)
\n
In the end, Apple may become a victim of its own success rather soon. For now, Apple shares are looking for direction, with investors hoping the stock can regain the 50-day moving average and start a new breakout.
","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Apple: Victim Of Its Own Success
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nApple: Victim Of Its Own Success\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-05-20 23:17 GMT+8 seekingalpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Summary\n\nInvestors will likely fret over revenue growth rates later this year.\nRegular iPhone launch timing could pull forward meaningful sales.\nAs stock stays flat, buyback can become more powerful.\n...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"AAPL":"苹果"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4430161-apple-victim-of-its-own-success","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/5a36db9d73b4222bc376d24ccc48c8a4","article_id":"1180231636","content_text":"Summary\n\nInvestors will likely fret over revenue growth rates later this year.\nRegular iPhone launch timing could pull forward meaningful sales.\nAs stock stays flat, buyback can become more powerful.\n\nPhoto by Paopano/iStock Editorial via Getty Images\nTechnology giant Apple (AAPL) reported a massive earnings blowout a few weeks ago, and the numbers were truly staggering. Take a look at the following table which shows the initial pricing of the larger screen Pro tablet version over the years. There are also the Cellular models that will cost a little bit more, but for this argument, I'm only showing the base Wi-Fi model.\n(Source: iPad Pro wikipedia page)\nBecause of both the advancements in technology as well as larger storage, Apple has raised prices significantly over the years. I could see a similar thing happening with the iPhone this year, depending on how many older generations stick around and whether or not Apple launches a 1 TB storage option for the smartphone.\nEven if Apple's results aren't as tremendous as some hope they might be moving forward, this company is still doing incredibly well. Free cash flow could be well over $80 billion this year, allowing for a dividend and huge buyback. Don't forget that as shares stay around this $125 level, the repurchasing of shares becomes more significant each quarter as the share count comes down. $20 billion in buybacks every three months at a $2.1 trillion market cap does more than at a $2.2 trillion valuation, for example, and earnings per share will continue to benefit.\nWednesday was another important day for Apple. With the market dropping at the open, Apple fell below its 200-day moving average (green line below). However, the stock was able to regain this key technical level and close above it. As the chart below shows, shares are currently stuck between the 50 and 200-day moving averages, and both lines are mostly flat at this point. Should the stock be able to get back above the shorter term trend line, it could provide a level of support moving forward.\n(Source: Yahoo! Finance)\nIn the end, Apple may become a victim of its own success rather soon. For now, Apple shares are looking for direction, with investors hoping the stock can regain the 50-day moving average and start a new breakout.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":734,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":139730438,"gmtCreate":1621655793924,"gmtModify":1704361135145,"author":{"id":"3579911416524208","authorId":"3579911416524208","name":"OneArmBoi","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fcd7523312cd34fe1ab66063bdbdaf30","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579911416524208","authorIdStr":"3579911416524208"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Novavax(NVAX)$buy and hold!","listText":"$Novavax(NVAX)$buy and hold!","text":"$Novavax(NVAX)$buy and hold!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/139730438","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":549,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":133567646,"gmtCreate":1621771488985,"gmtModify":1704362258923,"author":{"id":"3579911416524208","authorId":"3579911416524208","name":"OneArmBoi","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fcd7523312cd34fe1ab66063bdbdaf30","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579911416524208","authorIdStr":"3579911416524208"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/133567646","repostId":"2137906121","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2137906121","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1621611396,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2137906121?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-21 23:36","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Here Are the 3 Bank Moves Warren Buffett Has Made So Far in 2021","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2137906121","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Berkshire Hathaway has continued to reduce its stakes in banks.","content":"
Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A) (NYSE:BRK.B) recently filed its 13F form for the first quarter of 2021, detailing what stock sales and purchases the conglomerate and the legendary investor in charge, Warren Buffett, made during the period.
More specifically, the owners of these vehicles were reported to have reduced range and slower charging speeds at Tesla’s Supercharger network.
\n
The automaker is now ordered to pay about $16,000 to each customer to resolve the case. According to Nettavisen, around 10,000 Model S vehicles have been sold during that period, which would result in a hefty fine for Tesla.
\n
The order was issued on May 17th and Tesla was instructed to pay the fine until May 30th. More specifically, the owners of these vehicles were reported to have reduced range and slower charging speeds at Tesla’s Supercharger network.\nThe automaker is now ordered to pay about $16,000 to each customer to resolve the case. According to Nettavisen, around 10,000 Model S vehicles have been sold during that period, which would result in a hefty fine for Tesla.\nThe order was issued on May 17th and Tesla was instructed to pay the fine until May 30th. I was a skeptic for a long time but that didn’t stop me from trading it bullishly. I could not see how it fit in the migration from traditional to streaming models.
\n
Regardless as to how, management proved me wrong. The fundamental metrics now are undeniable bullish.
\n
In the last four years, they quadrupled revenues. They now have more than $100 million of positive net income after years of losses. That point is important because the company is not young and ran red too long.
\n
But finally the media delivery environment swung their way. Last year, the swarm demand for streaming from the pandemic made for a perfect storm.
\n
From here, hopefully they can build on the momentum and follow the digitization trend deep. This is a big world so the potential is borderless to a degree. I still don’t quite get why I would need a Roku, so I am not their target audience. In our household we “cut the cord” a while back. But we use our phones and tablets to consume our media without Roku.
\n
ROKU Stock Is in Better Shape Now
\n
Recognizing the improvements is important because the long-term thesis changed for me. This is a streaming stock with no weak asterisks anymore.
\n
Being profitable does not mean that ROKU stock is now cheap. Experts could point to price-to-earnings ratio to call it expensive. They’d be wrong because for an aggressively growing company P/E is a bad metric. Companies cannot deliver impressive growth on a budget.
\n
The better gauge to use is the price-to-sales, and at 22 it is reasonable. This is in line with Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) and cheaper than Zoom (NASDAQ:ZM) to use two other growers. ROKU P/S is triple Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) and quadruple that of Disney (NYSE:DIS). Nevertheless it is not a flagrant reason to sell it. The amount of hope that its investors have in it now is high. But it is not in the clouds so high to drive a crash.
\n
ROKU stock rallied 740% from the pandemic crash. Then it corrected 44% and now is somewhere in the middle. The altitude is a bit alarming still 90% above last summer’s breakout. This concern is more serious since the markets are also near all-time highs.
\n
Last week Federal Reserve “taper” fears resurfaced and could be a drag on the all equities. Regardless of how good this story is, it will need the markets to remain strong.
\n
There Is Risk Below
\n
Source: Charts by TradingView
\n
If the overall malaise continues, ROKU could fall 30% from here and not change a thing. First, there would be a strong effort to hold the $280 zone. If that fails it would then trigger the rest of the dip. There is a way to profit from this potential now using options. This is also a way to get bullish the stock but leave room for error.
\n
An investor can sell the January 2022 ROKU $220 put to be bullish the stock. This trade would not even need a rally to win. In fact, the stock can fall almost 40% and they can still break even. If the stock falls below $220 then they could own the shares there.
\n
Big moves in stocks usually come from dislocations between reality and expectations. I don’t think there is such a scenario here. It’s a momentum stock but not teetering on disaster. I was a skeptic for a long time but that didn’t stop me from trading it bullishly. I could not see how it fit in the migration from traditional to streaming models.\nRegardless as to how, management proved me wrong. The fundamental metrics now are undeniable bullish.\nIn the last four years, they quadrupled revenues. They now have more than $100 million of positive net income after years of losses. That point is important because the company is not young and ran red too long.\nBut finally the media delivery environment swung their way. Last year, the swarm demand for streaming from the pandemic made for a perfect storm.\nFrom here, hopefully they can build on the momentum and follow the digitization trend deep. This is a big world so the potential is borderless to a degree. I still don’t quite get why I would need a Roku, so I am not their target audience. In our household we “cut the cord” a while back. But we use our phones and tablets to consume our media without Roku.\nROKU Stock Is in Better Shape Now\nRecognizing the improvements is important because the long-term thesis changed for me. This is a streaming stock with no weak asterisks anymore.\nBeing profitable does not mean that ROKU stock is now cheap. Experts could point to price-to-earnings ratio to call it expensive. They’d be wrong because for an aggressively growing company P/E is a bad metric. Companies cannot deliver impressive growth on a budget.\nThe better gauge to use is the price-to-sales, and at 22 it is reasonable. But it is not in the clouds so high to drive a crash.\nROKU stock rallied 740% from the pandemic crash. Then it corrected 44% and now is somewhere in the middle. The altitude is a bit alarming still 90% above last summer’s breakout. This concern is more serious since the markets are also near all-time highs.\nLast week Federal Reserve “taper” fears resurfaced and could be a drag on the all equities. Regardless of how good this story is, it will need the markets to remain strong.\nThere Is Risk Below\nSource: Charts by TradingView\nIf the overall malaise continues, ROKU could fall 30% from here and not change a thing. First, there would be a strong effort to hold the $280 zone. If that fails it would then trigger the rest of the dip. There is a way to profit from this potential now using options. This is also a way to get bullish the stock but leave room for error.\nAn investor can sell the January 2022 ROKU $220 put to be bullish the stock. This trade would not even need a rally to win. In fact, the stock can fall almost 40% and they can still break even. If the stock falls below $220 then they could own the shares there.\nBig moves in stocks usually come from dislocations between reality and expectations. I don’t think there is such a scenario here. It’s a momentum stock but not teetering on disaster. I would not go as far as calling it a bargain but value became less of a threat.\nEarlier I admitted that I was ignorant on one front but did not commit the mistake of shorting it. Back then I knew that my bearish bias was a mere opinion with low conviction. In fact I wrote about upside opportunities when I saw some coming.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":360,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":139739638,"gmtCreate":1621655829724,"gmtModify":1704361135633,"author":{"id":"3579911416524208","authorId":"3579911416524208","name":"OneArmBoi","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fcd7523312cd34fe1ab66063bdbdaf30","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579911416524208","authorIdStr":"3579911416524208"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cmon novavax","listText":"Cmon novavax","text":"Cmon novavax","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/139739638","repostId":"1153943475","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1153943475","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1621610182,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1153943475?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-21 23:16","market":"us","language":"en","title":"U.S., South Korea Announce Vaccine, Semiconductor Partnership","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1153943475","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Commerce Secretary Raimondo met with South Korea’s Moon Friday\nSouth Korea needs Covid vaccines, U.S","content":"
\n
South Korea is eager to secure supplies of Covid-19 vaccines that the U.S. has recently allowed to be exported. The video game retailer shed 27.2% even after announcing two high-profile executive hires from Amazon. The movie theater chain dropped 13.2% on Thursday, turning negative on the week.\nAnother red-hot meme stockClover Health, which at one point was the focus of the WallStreetBets message board this week, pulled back 15.3% on Thursday.Clean Energy Fuels, which rallied more than 31% just Wednesday, tumbled 15.6%.\nMEME STOCKS TAKING A HIT\n\n\n\nTICKER\nCOMPANY\nPRICE\nCHANGE\n%CHANGE\n\n\n\n\nGME\nGameStop Corp\n220.39\n-82.17\n-27.1582\n\n\nAMC\nAMC Entertainment Holdings Inc\n42.81\n-6.53\n-13.2347\n\n\nCLNE\nClean Energy Fuels Corp\n10.99\n-2.03\n-15.5914\n\n\nCLOV\nClover Health Investments Corp\n14.34\n-2.58\n-15.2482\n\n\n\nIf the January trading mania is any guide, it's not surprising that these latest rallies are turning out to be short-lived. A CNBC PRO analysis found that on average, Reddit stocks' runs lasted nine trading days from the start to their first big drop during the initial frenzy at the beginning of 2021.\nCNBC identified the starting point for five stocks popular on message boards earlier this year — GameStop, AMC,Bed Bath & Beyond,BlackBerryandKoss— by finding the first time each stocks' single-day trading volume at least doubled its 30-day moving average of shares traded. That typically represents the point at which a flurry of new investors took interest in a stock that was not being heavily traded.\nOn Thursday, GameStop investors seemed to be running for the exits afterthe company said it appointed former Amazon executive Matt Furlong as its new CEO.It also picked another Amazon veteran, Mike Recupero, as chief financial officer. Meanwhile the company's fiscal first-quarter resultsshowed sales up 25% and a narrower loss than it reported a year ago.\nThe decline in stock came as GameStop also said it may sell as many as 5 million shares. Additional shares dilute the value of existing shareholders' stakes. The stock is still up more than 1,000% on the year, however.\nAMC is down for a second straight day after soaring 83% last week. The movie theater chain, which was on the brink of bankruptcy not long ago, managed to sell 20 million shares in two separate deals last week amid the rally,generating around $800 million in capital.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":439,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
