What Analysts Are Saying About the Future of Terra","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1176148703","media":"investorplace","summary":"As Terra(LUNA-USD) prices continue dropping, investors might be convinced this is the end of the LUN","content":"

As Terra(LUNA-USD) prices continue dropping, investors might be convinced this is the end of the LUNA crypto

Founder Do Kwon says developers are working diligently to right the network

Analysts are torn over whether LUNA prices will ever recover

Source: David Sandron / Shutterstock.com

It’s difficult to have faith in Terra at this point. The network is the talk of crypto bulls and crypto bears alike in the face of a major price meltdown this week. Those still invested are either buying in while prices are incredibly low, or they’ve lost so much they are just hoping for a miracle. Is LUNA going to come back from this?

Do Kwon, the founder of the Terra network, sure seems to think so. Kwon has been trying to assuage investors since the projectbegan to seriously tank. He is doing this through the developers’three-pronged approachto salvaging the product.

The first two parts of the plan involve a large TerraUSD(UST-USD) burn, in order to stabilize the token back at $1. Over 371 million UST on the Ethereum(ETH-USD) network will be burned, as will all UST remaining in the Terra community pool. The third prong of this plan involves staking 240 million LUNA to stabilize governance and keep a whale from seizing control over the network.

Atop these plans, the developers are also taking on a community proposal to increase the burn rate of UST. Moreover, they temporarilyhalted the blockchain completely, freezing all unsettled transactions. This was to prevent users from taking advantage of the low price of LUNA and buying it all up at once.

Will the LUNA Crypto Recover? Analysts Can’t Decide.

While the LUNA crypto is now trading at only a fraction of 1 cent, investors might be throwing their hands up in the air. Can this bailout plan save the Terra network?

Many have their doubts. It seems that most talk about the network online is quite negative, with lots of investors already considering the project dead. The Motley Fool’sTrevor Jennewine isadvising investors steer clear of LUNAnow, even with its exceptionally low cost. Price predicting websites likeCoinPriceForecastand DigitalCoinPricesee no growth opportunities for the network on the horizon either. The two sites predict an end-of-year price of 6 cents and less than 1 cent, respectively, for LUNA.

There are others still with some hope still for the network. Crypto analysis website InvestingCubesaid that a LUNA crypto price recoverycould very well be a possibility. The report suggests that UST returning to $1 could catalyze a LUNA gain, allowing it to regain its footing. Price prediction site WalletInvestoris remaining extremely bullish with its 12-month LUNA prediction. It expects the coin to reach $151 by May 2023. The network is the talk of crypto bulls and crypto bears alike in the face of a major price meltdown this week. Those still invested are either buying in while prices are incredibly low, or they’ve lost so much they are just hoping for a miracle. Is LUNA going to come back from this?Do Kwon, the founder of the Terra network, sure seems to think so. The third prong of this plan involves staking 240 million LUNA to stabilize governance and keep a whale from seizing control over the network.Atop these plans, the developers are also taking on a community proposal to increase the burn rate of UST. The two sites predict an end-of-year price of 6 cents and less than 1 cent, respectively, for LUNA.There are others still with some hope still for the network. Meanwhile, peer outletGov Capitalis predicting a $108 price for the coin in the same time frame.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":491,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9069473578,"gmtCreate":1651359407467,"gmtModify":1676534892850,"author":{"id":"3580352609056458","authorId":"3580352609056458","name":"Huachoo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/abb724624176e5676426a76b7bb12d64","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3580352609056458","idStr":"3580352609056458"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Power","listText":"Power","text":"Power","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9069473578","repostId":"9069001363","repostType":1,"repost":{"id":9069001363,"gmtCreate":1651198386599,"gmtModify":1676534869361,"author":{"id":"3527667621665671","authorId":"3527667621665671","name":"Daily_Discussion","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/6973ef3354e752778088dfd8ca725c82","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3527667621665671","idStr":"3527667621665671"},"themes":[],"title":"🔥[29th Apr]Trading plans that you can't miss from Tiger users","htmlText":"Hi, Tigers! And with the Federal Reserve beginning to tighten monetary policy and increase interest rates, investors are predicting that the stock market’s valuation will fall in 2022.

One way for investors to navigate that challenge is to find companies whose earnings will grow faster than their valuations decline. But that requires making difficult assumptions.

A better option is to search for stocks that became meaningfully cheaper over the past year. Those companies have a head start on the broader market and could be a good place to hide.

That’s why Barron’s screened for stocks whose 2022 earnings estimates rose faster than their prices during 2021, making them cheaper in the process. We’ll use the most common measure of a stock’s valuation: its price-to-earnings ratio.

It isn’t hard to find stocks whose prices—the numerator in that equation—gained last year. Nearly 90% of S&P 500 companies finished in the green, and several dozen stocks returned 50% or more.

Now for the denominator: Analysts became more optimistic about 2022 earnings estimatesas 2021 progressed. All but eight stocks in the S&P 500 now have higher consensus earnings estimates for 2022 than they did at the start of last year.

To find companies whose valuations have already been discounted heading into the new year, we screened the S&P 500 for stocks that saw their price-to-earnings multiples decline by at least 30% over the past year. We also excluded any company whose forecasted 2022 earnings were negative.

We were left with the 18 stocks below. As with any screen, it’s only a starting point for further analysis.

Source: Bloomberg, FactSet

Some of the stocks on the list have simply gone from uber-expensive to very expensive. Take Host Hotels & Resorts (ticker: HST), a real estate investment trust that owns a portfolio of global hotel properties. It currently sports a price-to-2022-earnings multiple of 73 times—not cheap by any measure. But that’s down 83% from a multiple of 416 times a year earlier. Analysts have lifted their estimates of Host Hotels & Resorts‘ 2022 earnings per share by nearly 575% over the past 12 months, while the REIT’s share price increased by 19%.

Shares of some pandemic-sensitive companies, such as MGM Resorts International (MGM), have likewise rallied, but not as quickly as their earnings estimates have increased.

Many of the biggest jumps in forecasted 2022 earnings per share come from energy and metals producers. Prices of oil, steel, and other commodities rallied in 2021, and are expected to remain elevated in 2022 as demand continues to rebound and supply is slower to return—boosting producers’ sales and earnings.

Oil and gas exploration and production firm APA (APA), for example, enjoyed a 90% increase in its share price in 2021. But analysts now expect the company to earn 819% more in 2022 than they projected a year earlier. So despite its soaring stock, APA’s price-to-2022-earnings multiple has declined from 25 times to roughly 5 times, a decrease of 80%. That makes it one of the cheapest stocks in the S&P 500 relative to this year’s earnings.

Fellow oil and gas firm ConocoPhillips (COP) and steelmaker Nucor (NUE) have followed similar trajectories. Despite hefty returns in 2021, analysts have become even more optimistic about the pair’s 2022 prospects.

Penn National Gaming (PENN), the S&P 500’s worst-performing stock in 2021, has also gotten meaningfully cheaper. And with the Federal Reserve beginning to tighten monetary policy and increase interest rates, investors are predicting that the stock market’s valuation will fall in 2022.One way for investors to navigate that challenge is to find companies whose earnings will grow faster than their valuations decline. But that requires making difficult assumptions.A better option is to search for stocks that became meaningfully cheaper over the past year. All but eight stocks in the S&P 500 now have higher consensus earnings estimates for 2022 than they did at the start of last year.To find companies whose valuations have already been discounted heading into the new year, we screened the S&P 500 for stocks that saw their price-to-earnings multiples decline by at least 30% over the past year. We also excluded any company whose forecasted 2022 earnings were negative. We were left with the 18 stocks below. As with any screen, it’s only a starting point for further analysis.Source: Bloomberg, FactSetSome of the stocks on the list have simply gone from uber-expensive to very expensive. Analysts have lifted their estimates of Host Hotels & Resorts‘ 2022 earnings per share by nearly 575% over the past 12 months, while the REIT’s share price increased by 19%.Shares of some pandemic-sensitive companies, such as MGM Resorts International (MGM), have likewise rallied, but not as quickly as their earnings estimates have increased. Many of the biggest jumps in forecasted 2022 earnings per share come from energy and metals producers. Prices of oil, steel, and other commodities rallied in 2021, and are expected to remain elevated in 2022 as demand continues to rebound and supply is slower to return—boosting producers’ sales and earnings.Oil and gas exploration and production firm APA (APA), for example, enjoyed a 90% increase in its share price in 2021. But analysts now expect the company to earn 819% more in 2022 than they projected a year earlier. So despite its soaring stock, APA’s price-to-2022-earnings multiple has declined from 25 times to roughly 5 times, a decrease of 80%. That makes it one of the cheapest stocks in the S&P 500 relative to this year’s earnings.Fellow oil and gas firm ConocoPhillips (COP) and steelmaker Nucor (NUE) have followed similar trajectories. Despite hefty returns in 2021, analysts have become even more optimistic about the pair’s 2022 prospects.Penn National Gaming (PENN), the S&P 500’s worst-performing stock in 2021, has also gotten meaningfully cheaper. The casino and racetrack operator, which owns a stake in Barstool Sports, saw its stock drop almost 40% last year. Still, analysts lifted their 2022 earnings-per-share forecast by an average of 23%. That brought down Penn’s price-to-2022-earnings multiple by half, from almost 46 times to about 22 times.Other S&P 500 stocks that got at least 30% cheaper in 2021 relative to 2022 forecasted earnings include Moderna (MRNA), LyondellBasell Industries (LYB), Dow (DOW), Under Armour (UAA), and Dish Network (DISH).","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":913,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9001892185,"gmtCreate":1641210227565,"gmtModify":1676533583051,"author":{"id":"3580352609056458","authorId":"3580352609056458","name":"Huachoo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/abb724624176e5676426a76b7bb12d64","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3580352609056458","idStr":"3580352609056458"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Powet","listText":"Powet","text":"Powet","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9001892185","repostId":"2200403714","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2200403714","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1641163785,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2200403714?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-03 06:49","market":"us","language":"en","title":"December jobs report, Federal Reserve meeting minutes, CES: What to know this week","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2200403714","media":"Yahoo Finance","summary":"Investors can expect a busy first week of 2022, laden with key economic releases out of Washington t","content":"

Investors can expect a busy first week of 2022, laden with key economic releases out of Washington that include the highly-anticipated December jobs report and minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee’s (FOMC) latest policy-setting meeting.

It was a hectic final month of 2021 for markets, stocks rallied to new highs and the action could pour into the new year’s opening week of trading with a boost from what is known as the “January Effect” — the perception of a seasonal rise in U.S. equities during the first month of the year.

Wall Street attributes the theory to an increase in purchasing following the drop in prices that occurs in December when investors sell positions that have declined in order to take the capital loss in that calendar year's taxes. Labor issues are also fueling surging inflation levels, as companies large and small face logistical challenges, including rising business costs and supply chain bottlenecks caused by a shortage of workers.“This severe labor market shortage — more than any other economic factor — is accounting for a massive breakdown in the normally well-oiled global supply chain,” experts at Wilmington Trust said in their 2022 Capital Markets Outlook. “Labor participation and how firms deal with global resource disorder will likely determine the path for inflation, which is the critical consideration for investors in 2022.”With inflation at the forefront, investors will also set their sights on the Federal Reserve as it looks to raise interest rates this year to offset swelling price levels. The pace of these hikes will determine the stock market’s path forward in the new year.Minutes from the FOMC’s Dec. 15 policy-setting meeting, due out Wednesday, could give investors a better picture of where policymakers see interest rates going in 2022.Fed officials indicated last month that all 18 members predict at least one 25 basis point hike next year, with the median member forecasting three rate hikes before 2022 is over. The next FOMC meeting is scheduled to take place on Jan. 25 and 26.“What’s not changed is the focus on inflation, that’s the biggest risk,” Brigg Macadam founding partner Greg Swenson told Yahoo Finance Live, adding that the Fed changing its tone is “too little, too late.”“They are still, by most measures, quite dovish, even with the tapering of bond purchases and the market pricing in three hikes next year, you’ll still have dramatically negative real rates,” he said. “I wouldn’t call that a hawkish Fed — maybe their tone has changed a little bit and they have definitely stopped using the word ‘transitory,’ they have all but admitted that they missed inflation and underestimated it.”Although earnings season doesn’t fully commence until around mid-month, several notable off-cycle reports are due out this week, including ones from Jefferies, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Walgreens.CES, the Consumer Technology Association's iconic consumer electronics show will also take place from Jan. 5-7 in Las Vegas, but will end one day earlier than initially planned due to fast-spreading cases of COVID-19. The event may also have a light crowd, with some usual, big name attendees like Apple, Alphabet and Facebook's parent Meta dropping their plans to attend in-person under the circumstances.Economic calendarMonday: Markit US Manufacturing PMI, December final (57.7 estimated, 57.8 prior); Construction Spending, month over month, November (0.7% estimated, 0.2% prior month)Tuesday: ISM New Orders, December (61.5% prior month); ISM Prices Paid, December (79.3 estimated, 82.4 prior month); ISM Manufacturing, December (60.2 estimated, 61.1) prior month); ISM Employment, December (53.3 prior month); JOLTS job openings, November (11,033,000 prior month); WARDS Total Vehicle Sales, December (13,100,000 expected, 12,860,000 prior month)Wednesday: MBA Mortgage Applications, week ended Dec. 31 (-0.6% during prior week); ADP Employment Change, December (360,000 expected, 534,000 during prior month); Markit US Composite PMI, December final (56.9 prior month); Markit US Services PMI, December final (57.5 expected, 57.5 prior month); FOMC Meeting Minutes, December 15Thursday: Challenger Job Cuts, year over year, December (-77% prior); Trade Balance, November (-$74,000,000,000 expected, -$67,000,000,000); Initial Jobless Claims, week ended January 1 (199,000 expected, 198,000 during prior week) Continuing Claims, week ended January 1 (1,715,000 expected, 1,716,000 prior week); Langer Consumer Comfort, January 2 (47.9 prior); Factory Orders excluding transportation, November (1.6% prior); Factory Orders, November (1.5% expected, 1.0% prior) ISM Services Index, December (67.0 expected, 69.1 prior); Durable Goods Orders, November final (2.5% prior); Durable Goods Excluding Transportation, November final (0.8% prior); Capital Goods Orders Nondefense Excluding Aircrafts, November final (-0.1%); Capital Goods Shipments Nondefense Excluding Aircrafts, November final (0.3%)Friday: Revisions – Employment Report, Household Survey; Two-Month Payroll Net Revision, December (82,000 prior); Change in Nonfarm Payrolls, December (400,000 expected, 210,000 prior month); Change in Private Payrolls, December (370,000 expected, 235,000 prior month); Change in Manufacturing Payrolls, December (33,000 expected, 31,000 prior month); Unemployment Rate, December (4.1 expected, 4.3% prior); Average Hourly Earnings, month over month, December (0.4% expected, 0.3% prior month); Average Hourly Earnings, year over year (4.2% expected, 4.8% prior month); Average Weekly Hours All Employees, December (34.8 expected, 34.8 prior month); Labor Force Participation Rate, December (61.9% expected, 61.8% prior month); Underemployment Rate, December (7.8% prior month); Consumer Credit, November (22,500,000,000 expected, 16,897,000,000 prior month)Earnings calendarMonday: No notable reports scheduled for releaseTuesday: Jefferies Financial Group (JEF), MillerKnoll (MLKN) after market closeWednesday: Mullen Automotive Inc. However, the company is not operationally profitable yet, but we should get there soon.

Palantir's ARPC was down by 20%, reaching $5.2 million, but the decrease was attributable to the expanding commercial customer base, which started with a lower contract value (acquire-phase).

The never-ending global tensions and geopolitical uncertainty highlight the company's critical role in the global arena and the impact of the digitized battlefield.

SBC is Palantir's Achilles heel, but the normalization path is more apparent than ever.

I stay bullish on personal and model portfolios, with PLTR's short-term target price of $10.

Investment Thesis

After 20 years of Palantir Technologies Inc.'s existence, the company has never made a profit. Surprisingly, PLTR announced its first profitable quarter in Q4, which marks a new era for the firm. However, following the spike in the stock price above $10/share, the rally was short-lived as many investors rushed to exit.

Important Distinction TAM Vs. SOM

As previously examined in the company's S-1 filings, Palantir has a total addressable market (TAM) of $119 billion, but the firm did not update its TAM beyond that figure. According to Slintel, Palantir's current low market penetration is around 1.78%, suggesting the company has considerably more room for growth.

According to a report from Precedence Research, the global market size for data analytics will continue to grow at an impressive CAGR of 30.41% from 2022-2030 and is expected to hit $346.33 billion in 2030. To that effect, the rapidly increasing demand for data analytics services and solutions worldwide will benefit Palantir's financial performance over the long term by expanding its TAM.

Although there is some disagreement regarding Palantir's TAM of $119 billion compared to its serviceable obtainable market (SOM), my best estimate for Palantir's medium-term SOM ranges between $40-$50 billion, consisting of data visualization, predictive analytics, and fraud analytics. In other words, with $1.9 billion in revenue, Palantir has captured around 4% of the market share.

Revenue Components (Gov Vs. Com)

Palantir has expanded its business beyond government contracts to include more commercial clients. This diversification move maintained the company's consistent strong revenue growth (24% YoY) for 2022 despite macroeconomic adversities, and it expects a continued revenue expansion in 2023. In addition, Palantir's revenue continued to experience growth over the long term with the expansion of the primary market due to its enhanced engagement in commercial space. However, its limited focus on non-US markets restricts its ability to expand its customer base and revenue streams.

Specifically, the government segment (Gov) generated 56% of the $1.9 billion revenue in 2022; the rest came from the commercial segment (Com), and the majority of the customers, 61%, were in the US. Favorably, Palantir managed to grow its total customers, however, by 55%, reaching 367 customers by the end of 2022. As a result, the average revenue per customer (ARPC) dropped for a second consecutive year by 20%, down to $5.2 million per customer.

At first glance, the drop signals that customers do not spend more with the firm on average. However, the drop was due to the notable increase in the commercial segment in 2022 by 28%, reaching 260 Com customers. Specifically, new Com customers start with relatively low contracts of around $2-$3 million, which drags down the overall ARPC. Yet, Com's growth slowed down from a 24% QoQ increase to 14%, but the overall trend is still favorable.

Palantir initially started out getting contracts from the US Department of Defense. Despite the slight YoY 1.8% decrease in the number of Gov customers in 2022, the segment's ARPC remained the same throughout the year under the current challenging macro environment, proving the expanding ARPC and the Gov segment's recession-proof nature.

In previous articles, I stressed the importance of the Com segment, which could be the long-term growth driver of Palantir. With 147 Com clients that generated $645 million in 2021, Palantir had a commercial ARPC of $4.39 million, whereas, in 2022, the ARPC dropped to $3.2 million with an $834 million revenue. The decrease was due to sizable customer acquisition with rapid YoY growth of 79% but with smaller contract sizes.

CEO Alex Karp noted that 53% of Palantir's business deals are over $50 million. Favorably, the firm's top 20 customers spent $49.4 million in 2022, reporting a 13.3% YoY increase, supported by the Gov segment. Despite the customer base's resilient-proof attributes, having a large portion of revenues generated from a few large customers leads to less diversity and exposure to downside and volatility. To that effect, Palantir has achieved a 4.3% customer penetration but has an ARPC potential of nearly 3x. Palantir reported its first profitable quarter in its 20 years of existence with a $30.9 million positive net income. Some unusual items stand out after digging deeper into the net income breakdown. As per note 14 in the 10-K form, the firm operationally is not profitable yet. Specifically, Palantir has recorded a $44.3 million fair value gain due to the Palantir Japan "step acquisition". Excluding this item, net income would still be at a loss, but the path to operational profitability has become more evident.

SBC Normalization

Stock-based compensation (SBC) used to be Palantir's Achilles heel and a deal breaker for many investors. Last year, Karp explicitly stated that investors could expect normalization in the next 18 to 24 months, as it happened. One of my favorite metrics for Palantir is the SBC-to-Revenue ratio, which has dropped to 30% in 2022 and was the second consecutive annual drop. The decrease was attributable to the inverse movement of 24% YoY revenue growth and the 27% decline in the SBC to $565 million from $779 million in 2021.

Looking forward, to develop a reasonable expectation for SBC's trend, the Restricted-Stock-Units (RSU) provides the unrecorded SBC element. Specifically, this is the sum of SBC from the current plans, which include Options subject to vesting conditions as the employees fulfill their duties throughout the vesting period.

As of the year-end of 2021, the company had 326.9 million options outstanding with 8.33 remaining contractual life. The options outstanding account for 15.8% of total shares outstanding, slightly better than 2021, at 17.4%. Assuming the options vest and convert evenly in the next eight years, it implies around 39 million shares of annual dilution or 1.8% of the 2022 year-end share count. However, this figure does not take into account new RSU grants.

In last year's article, we explored why Palantir's SBC has reached an inflection point. If this inverse relationship persists for another two to three years, Palantir will eventually reach GAAP profitability. Nevertheless, we investors are looking for companies that can add shareholder value; thus, focusing on the revenue growth rate compared to the dilution rate is the key.

Additionally, although Palantir increased its share count by a staggering 97% in 2021, there is light at the end of the tunnel. In 2022, the dilutive effect was minor, with only a slight increase in share count of 7%. On the contrary, the revenue growth rate was much faster, and this gap added value to the firm. In general, investors should closely track this metric as the wider this gap gets, the more shareholder value Palantir offers.

Strategic Partnerships & Collaborations

Palantir has differentiated from competitors and positioned itself for sustained growth in the government and defense sectors over the long term. Palantir is developing and tailoring its products and services in the commercial segment, creating specialized solutions for specific industries or customizing its existing solutions to fit unique needs. In addition, it targets new industries or geographies and develops marketing strategies, strategic partnerships, and collaborations to reach new customers.

For example, Palantir collaborates with WesTrac, a provider of heavy equipment and aftermarket services to Australia's mining and construction sectors. The partnership will see Palantir's Foundry platform deployed across WesTrac's servicing and rebuilding operations centers in Perth. This partnership further expands Palantir's presence in the Australian industrial sector, complementing its long-standing collaboration with Rio Tinto (RIO).

Palantir has proactively formed strategic partnerships and collaborations with various companies to expand its reach, diversify its operations, and accelerate growth. With its flagship product, Foundry, Palantir is well-positioned to leverage data to drive better decision-making across organizations, making it an attractive partner for companies in various sectors.

Palantir has partnered with Lockheed Martin (LMT) to speed up the delivery of Aegis and future integrated combat system software through Palantir Apollo. The collaboration aims to improve the delivery of software that supports defense systems. Palantir's Apollo platform will enhance the efficiency and accuracy of software delivery for Aegis and other integrated combat systems. This collaboration highlights Palantir's ability to use data analysis and software expertise to support the defense industry.

Recent partnerships, such as those with WesTrac, Crisis24, and Tampa General Hospital, demonstrate Palantir's ability to serve industries such as mining, security, healthcare, and construction. These partnerships will likely accelerate the adoption of Palantir's products and services and enable the company to expand its market share.

Moreover, Palantir's collaborations with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the US and the Ministry of Health in New South Wales, Australia, have shown that the company can provide valuable tools for public health preparedness, particularly in the face of pandemics.

Overall, Palantir's partnerships and collaborations have positioned the company to continue to grow and innovate, with the potential to enter new markets and drive its expansion in existing ones. As a result, it will lead to solid long-term growth in its financial performance and valuations.

Additional Risks To Consider

The revised growth guidance of 16% revenue growth is nearly half last year's 30% annual growth. Favorably, the Gov segment has shown its resiliency and recession-proof nature throughout 2021, so we shouldn't expect much volatility considering the geopolitical tensions that favor Palantir. On the other hand, even though the Com segment has meaningfully expanded and remains a growth catalyst for PLTR, the macro uncertainty might decelerate its growth in the short run.

Criticism for Palantir's collaboration with government agencies, particularly in surveillance and immigration enforcement, poses a significant risk to the stock's price growth. Any public disclosure that Palantir's software has been used to violate privacy rights and target vulnerable populations, such as immigrants and refugees, can severely affect its stock price.

Finally, emerging trends in data analytics, such as edge computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud-based analytics, augmented analytics, and predictive analytics, have boosted market competition. As a result, it could pressure Palantir to lower prices and invest more aggressively in research and development.

Takeaway

Although Palantir has established itself as a significant player in the data analytics market, its business outlook is subject to several risks and uncertainties. However, the company is not operationally profitable yet, but we should get there soon.Palantir's ARPC was down by 20%, reaching $5.2 million, but the decrease was attributable to the expanding commercial customer base, which started with a lower contract value (acquire-phase).The never-ending global tensions and geopolitical uncertainty highlight the company's critical role in the global arena and the impact of the digitized battlefield.SBC is Palantir's Achilles heel, but the normalization path is more apparent than ever.I stay bullish on personal and model portfolios, with PLTR's short-term target price of $10.Investment ThesisAfter 20 years of Palantir Technologies Inc.'s existence, the company has never made a profit. Surprisingly, PLTR announced its first profitable quarter in Q4, which marks a new era for the firm. However, following the spike in the stock price above $10/share, the rally was short-lived as many investors rushed to exit.Important Distinction TAM Vs. SOMAs previously examined in the company's S-1 filings, Palantir has a total addressable market (TAM) of $119 billion, but the firm did not update its TAM beyond that figure. According to Slintel, Palantir's current low market penetration is around 1.78%, suggesting the company has considerably more room for growth.According to a report from Precedence Research, the global market size for data analytics will continue to grow at an impressive CAGR of 30.41% from 2022-2030 and is expected to hit $346.33 billion in 2030. To that effect, the rapidly increasing demand for data analytics services and solutions worldwide will benefit Palantir's financial performance over the long term by expanding its TAM.Although there is some disagreement regarding Palantir's TAM of $119 billion compared to its serviceable obtainable market (SOM), my best estimate for Palantir's medium-term SOM ranges between $40-$50 billion, consisting of data visualization, predictive analytics, and fraud analytics. In other words, with $1.9 billion in revenue, Palantir has captured around 4% of the market share.Revenue Components (Gov Vs. Com)Palantir has expanded its business beyond government contracts to include more commercial clients. However, its limited focus on non-US markets restricts its ability to expand its customer base and revenue streams.Specifically, the government segment (Gov) generated 56% of the $1.9 billion revenue in 2022; the rest came from the commercial segment (Com), and the majority of the customers, 61%, were in the US. Yet, Com's growth slowed down from a 24% QoQ increase to 14%, but the overall trend is still favorable.Palantir initially started out getting contracts from the US Department of Defense. The decrease was due to sizable customer acquisition with rapid YoY growth of 79% but with smaller contract sizes.CEO Alex Karp noted that 53% of Palantir's business deals are over $50 million. Nevertheless, the increasing number of commercial customers partly mitigates this risk.Palantir has identified 6000 businesses with yearly revenues of at least $500 million, indicating potential clients with an average contract value of $9.33 million. To that effect, Palantir has achieved a 4.3% customer penetration but has an ARPC potential of nearly 3x. Furthermore, based on Palantir's \"Trojan Horse\" business model, many of these new Com customers will likely renew with a higher contract value in the foreseeable future, boosting ARPC levels. The company's reliance on long-term government contracts can be subject to political and budgetary changes, resulting in revenue fluctuations. The company has succeeded in the government and defense sectors but has significant potential to expand its commercial segment and maintain its growth. PLTR's software license and maintenance fees are its primary revenue streams. These revenue streams have been consistent for years and have provided Palantir with a stable revenue base.Palantir also generates revenue through professional services. The revenue stream has been growing in recent years as the company has expanded its customer base and worked to diversify its revenues. While professional services can be a high-margin revenue stream, there is the risk that they may not be as scalable as software licensing because they rely on the availability of highly skilled professionals. Finally, a smaller revenue segment is the platform hosting and support services, which is relatively new and represents a growing opportunity for Palantir as it expands.Palantir maintains its growth in the government segment by developing and enhancing solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of government agencies, targeting new government agencies or departments, and developing relationships and partnerships to expand its reach and influence. For example, a £75 million Enterprise Agreement with the UK Ministry of Defense and an extended contract with the US Army Research Lab to deliver AI and ML capabilities provLasegment's resiliency.Last but not least, based on the company's weighted average contract duration, the firm expects an additional 2.8-year contract duration. Specifically, as per note 15, Palantir's weighted average useful life stood at 4.85 years, and this enhances the predictability element of Palantir's revenue.Questioning Profitability?Karp noted on the latest earnings call:We were profitable for the first time in our company's history last quarter.Mr. Market rushed to buy Palantir's \"Profitability\" cover story. Palantir reported its first profitable quarter in its 20 years of existence with a $30.9 million positive net income. Some unusual items stand out after digging deeper into the net income breakdown. Last year, Karp explicitly stated that investors could expect normalization in the next 18 to 24 months, as it happened. One of my favorite metrics for Palantir is the SBC-to-Revenue ratio, which has dropped to 30% in 2022 and was the second consecutive annual drop. The decrease was attributable to the inverse movement of 24% YoY revenue growth and the 27% decline in the SBC to $565 million from $779 million in 2021.Looking forward, to develop a reasonable expectation for SBC's trend, the Restricted-Stock-Units (RSU) provides the unrecorded SBC element. Nevertheless, we investors are looking for companies that can add shareholder value; thus, focusing on the revenue growth rate compared to the dilution rate is the key.Additionally, although Palantir increased its share count by a staggering 97% in 2021, there is light at the end of the tunnel. In general, investors should closely track this metric as the wider this gap gets, the more shareholder value Palantir offers.Strategic Partnerships & CollaborationsPalantir has differentiated from competitors and positioned itself for sustained growth in the government and defense sectors over the long term. Palantir is developing and tailoring its products and services in the commercial segment, creating specialized solutions for specific industries or customizing its existing solutions to fit unique needs. Gains of 9% might not seem like all that much compared to the double-digit percentage gains we've seen in past years. But given everything that's happening in the economy, it's not surprising to see investors rein in their expectations somewhat on some of the top-performing stocks in the market.
\n
Yet even with the gains the overall market has seen, there are still some Dow stocks that haven't climbed as far as they might. In particular, analysts looking at three stocks among the Dow Jones Industrials see the potential for substantial gains in the second half of 2021 and beyond. Below, we'll look at these three companies to see what it'll take for them to produce the big returns that investors want right now.
\n
UnitedHealth: 34% upside
\n
UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) has already put in a reasonable performance in the Dow so far this year. The health insurance giant's stock is up about 11% year to date, outpacing the broader average very slightly.
\n
Yet investors see a lot more upside for the healthcare giant. The top price target among Wall Street analysts for UnitedHealth is $522 per share, which implies roughly a 34% gain from current levels.
\n
UnitedHealth has done an excellent job of navigating the ever-changing landscape of the healthcare and health insurance industries. As the largest health insurance company in the world, UnitedHealth offers coverage not just for private businesses but also for those eligible for government programs like Medicare and Medicaid.
\n
Indeed, UnitedHealth's handling of plans under the Affordable Care Act has been masterful, with the company having participated in the program better known as Obamacare while not overcommitting to it. With the Supreme Court having recently upheld the validity of the Affordable Care Act, UnitedHealth finds itself in a strong position to keep benefiting from its mix of business.
\n

\n
\n
Yet many overlook the value of UnitedHealth's Optum health services unit. By aiming to help providers encourage health and wellness, Optum generates higher-margin revenue while often producing better outcomes for patients and members. With both growth drivers pushing the company forward, UnitedHealth looks well poised to keep climbing.
\n
Goldman Sachs: 36% upside
\n
Wall Street has enjoyed the bull market in stocks, and that's been a blessing for investment bank Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS). The perennial financial giant has seen its stock rise 34% so far in 2021 after less impressive performance during 2020.
\n
On one hand, Goldman has reflected the broader performance of financial stocks across the market. Interest rates have generally been on the rise, and that's bolstered the prospects for more net-interest income from retail banking operations. Goldman lags behind its big-bank peers on the consumer banking front, but its relatively new Marcus unit has done a good job of attracting capital thus far.
\n
On the other hand, Goldman continues to rely on its investment banking operations, and strong activity levels among initial public offerings and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) have fed the company's coffers nicely. Financing remains relatively easy to get, and that could spur more M&A activity that in turn could keep growing revenue for Goldman's investment banking division. Add to that possible tailwinds from macroeconomic factors, and it is in a solid position to climb as high as the $484 per share that represents the top price target among those following the financial stock.
\n
Apple: 42% upside
\n
Lastly, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) rounds out this list. Recently fetching $130 per share, some see the iPhone maker's stock climbing to $185. That'd be a 42% jump to help Apple recover from its 2% loss so far in 2021.
\n
Apple's gains have continued to impress. Revenue jumped 54% in its most recent quarter, with sales of the iPhone 12 and various other products and accessories continuing to drive sales for the company. Returning capital to shareholders via dividends and stock buybacks has had a substantial impact on financial performance, especially with the number of outstanding shares having plunged by roughly 35% in just the past decade.
\n
Many fear that Apple hasn't generated the innovative product lines that drove its success in the mid-2000s. However, at least for now, consumers seem content with iterations on existing product lines, and as long as that remains a successful strategy, further gains for the stock seem realistic.
\n
Further to run?
\n
Even with solid gains for the Dow in 2021, the long-term trajectory for stocks remains upward. That's a big part of why Apple, Goldman Sachs, and UnitedHealth Group look as promising as they do. Smart investors should at least keep an eye on these three stocks to see if they can live up to their full potential.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
These 3 Dow Stocks Are Set to Soar in 2021's Second Half
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThese 3 Dow Stocks Are Set to Soar in 2021's Second Half\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-22 18:15 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES:^DJI) has had a solid year so far in 2021. Gains of 9% might not seem like all that much compared to the double-digit percentage gains we've seen in past years. But given everything that's happening in the economy, it's not surprising to see investors rein in their expectations somewhat on some of the top-performing stocks in the market.\nYet even with the gains the overall market has seen, there are still some Dow stocks that haven't climbed as far as they might. In particular, analysts looking at three stocks among the Dow Jones Industrials see the potential for substantial gains in the second half of 2021 and beyond. Below, we'll look at these three companies to see what it'll take for them to produce the big returns that investors want right now.\nUnitedHealth: 34% upside\nUnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) has already put in a reasonable performance in the Dow so far this year. The health insurance giant's stock is up about 11% year to date, outpacing the broader average very slightly.\nYet investors see a lot more upside for the healthcare giant. The top price target among Wall Street analysts for UnitedHealth is $522 per share, which implies roughly a 34% gain from current levels.\nUnitedHealth has done an excellent job of navigating the ever-changing landscape of the healthcare and health insurance industries. As the largest health insurance company in the world, UnitedHealth offers coverage not just for private businesses but also for those eligible for government programs like Medicare and Medicaid.\nIndeed, UnitedHealth's handling of plans under the Affordable Care Act has been masterful, with the company having participated in the program better known as Obamacare while not overcommitting to it. With the Supreme Court having recently upheld the validity of the Affordable Care Act, UnitedHealth finds itself in a strong position to keep benefiting from its mix of business.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nYet many overlook the value of UnitedHealth's Optum health services unit. By aiming to help providers encourage health and wellness, Optum generates higher-margin revenue while often producing better outcomes for patients and members. With both growth drivers pushing the company forward, UnitedHealth looks well poised to keep climbing.\nGoldman Sachs: 36% upside\nWall Street has enjoyed the bull market in stocks, and that's been a blessing for investment bank Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS). The perennial financial giant has seen its stock rise 34% so far in 2021 after less impressive performance during 2020.\nOn one hand, Goldman has reflected the broader performance of financial stocks across the market. Interest rates have generally been on the rise, and that's bolstered the prospects for more net-interest income from retail banking operations. Goldman lags behind its big-bank peers on the consumer banking front, but its relatively new Marcus unit has done a good job of attracting capital thus far.\nOn the other hand, Goldman continues to rely on its investment banking operations, and strong activity levels among initial public offerings and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) have fed the company's coffers nicely. Financing remains relatively easy to get, and that could spur more M&A activity that in turn could keep growing revenue for Goldman's investment banking division. Add to that possible tailwinds from macroeconomic factors, and it is in a solid position to climb as high as the $484 per share that represents the top price target among those following the financial stock.\nApple: 42% upside\nLastly, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) rounds out this list. Recently fetching $130 per share, some see the iPhone maker's stock climbing to $185. That'd be a 42% jump to help Apple recover from its 2% loss so far in 2021.\nApple's gains have continued to impress. Returning capital to shareholders via dividends and stock buybacks has had a substantial impact on financial performance, especially with the number of outstanding shares having plunged by roughly 35% in just the past decade.\nMany fear that Apple hasn't generated the innovative product lines that drove its success in the mid-2000s. However, at least for now, consumers seem content with iterations on existing product lines, and as long as that remains a successful strategy, further gains for the stock seem realistic.\nFurther to run?\nEven with solid gains for the Dow in 2021, the long-term trajectory for stocks remains upward. That's a big part of why Apple, Goldman Sachs, and UnitedHealth Group look as promising as they do. Smart investors should at least keep an eye on these three stocks to see if they can live up to their full potential.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":158,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":887631706,"gmtCreate":1632024725305,"gmtModify":1676530688919,"author":{"id":"3580352609056458","authorId":"3580352609056458","name":"Huachoo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/abb724624176e5676426a76b7bb12d64","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3580352609056458","authorIdStr":"3580352609056458"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$TOP GLOVE CORPORATION BHD(BVA.SI)$Power","listText":"$TOP GLOVE CORPORATION BHD(BVA.SI)$Power","text":"$TOP GLOVE CORPORATION BHD(BVA.SI)$Power","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/00963c7fe7dcdcce2529cb4519002b20","width":"1242","height":"1767"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":1,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/887631706","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":498,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":812211390,"gmtCreate":1630590063410,"gmtModify":1676530349112,"author":{"id":"3580352609056458","authorId":"3580352609056458","name":"Huachoo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/abb724624176e5676426a76b7bb12d64","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3580352609056458","authorIdStr":"3580352609056458"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$Power","listText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$Power","text":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$Power","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0fa93787ecab3df9b2a9da98ea643a36","width":"1242","height":"1767"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/812211390","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":172,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":170315403,"gmtCreate":1626404317402,"gmtModify":1703759514001,"author":{"id":"3580352609056458","authorId":"3580352609056458","name":"Huachoo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/abb724624176e5676426a76b7bb12d64","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3580352609056458","authorIdStr":"3580352609056458"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Power ","listText":"Power ","text":"Power","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/170315403","repostId":"2151573133","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2151573133","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1626379249,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2151573133?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-16 04:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Nasdaq ends lower as investors sell Big Tech","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2151573133","media":"Reuters","summary":"July 15 - The Nasdaq ended lower on Thursday, pulled down by Apple, Amazon and other Big Tech companies as a fall in weekly jobless claims data fed investor concerns about a recent inflation spike.Amazon, Apple, Tesla and $Facebook$all fell.
