Its stock is up ~398% from its announcement price,\" the report says.
\n
\n \"Unbeknownst to investors, DraftKings’ merger with SBTech also brings exposure to extensive dealings in black-market gaming, money laundering and organized crime.\"\n
\n
\"We estimate that roughly 50% of SBTech’s revenue continues to come from markets where gambling is banned, based on an analysis of DraftKings’ SEC filings, conversations with former employees, and supporting documents,\" Hindenburg alleges. \"As one former employee told us, DraftKings’ subsidiary SBTech has 'sold to plenty of mobs', a sharp contrast to the clean image of DraftKings’ brand-conscious partners, including the NFL, NBA, NASCAR, UFC and PGA, and the company’s recent hire of supermodel Gisele Bundchen to advise on governance issues.\"
\n
The report also alleges:
\n
\n
Prior to the SPAC merger, SBTech seems to have made a concerted effort to distance itself from its black-market dealings. Illicit customer relationships were shuffled into a newly formed “distributor” entity called BTi/CoreTech, with ~50 SBTech employees shifted across town to the new entity.
\n
The CEO selected to run BTi/CoreTech was formerly an executive of a ‘binary options’ gambling firm raided by the FBI and subsequently charged by the SEC for deceiving U.S. investors out of over $100 million.
\n
Former SBTech employees called BTi/CoreTech a “front”, and said the split preserved SBTech’s (and now DraftKings’) illicit business while shielding the public company from scrutiny. For all practical purposes, it appears that BTi/CoreTech functions as DraftKings’ undisclosed illegal gaming division.
\n
We identified numerous black market clients of DraftKings’ “front” entity, through searches on social media and back-end web infrastructure. For example, an Asia-focused site tied to a triad kingpin at the center of a Swiss money laundering investigation advertises its use of BTi/CoreTech technology.
\n
In 2019, Vietnamese authorities arrested 22 individuals involved in a “massive illegal online sports betting ring” linked to BTi/CoreTech’s platform.
\n
Contrary to representations made to Oregon’s state lottery, a former employee told us SBTech had extensive operations in Iran, violating local laws in a market subject to heavy U.S. sanctions. We were told SBTech knowingly operated there for 4-5 years with the founder directly overseeing the operation.
\n
Around the time of the DraftKings deal, SBTech’s founder spun off another gaming brand that also operated in markets where gambling was banned, transferring it to his brother. The brand was behind a “massive Chinese operation”, according to a former employee, contrary to representations made to Oregon’s state lottery.
\n
The brand continues to operate in China despite the strict local rules prohibiting online gambling, according to our review of web infrastructure for multiple China-facing gambling sites. Its stock is up ~398% from its announcement price,\" the report says.\n\n\"Unbeknownst to investors, DraftKings’ merger with SBTech also brings exposure to extensive dealings in black-market gaming, money laundering and organized crime.\"\n\n\"We estimate that roughly 50% of SBTech’s revenue continues to come from markets where gambling is banned, based on an analysis of DraftKings’ SEC filings, conversations with former employees, and supporting documents,\" Hindenburg alleges. \"As one former employee told us, DraftKings’ subsidiary SBTech has 'sold to plenty of mobs', a sharp contrast to the clean image of DraftKings’ brand-conscious partners, including the NFL, NBA, NASCAR, UFC and PGA, and the company’s recent hire of supermodel Gisele Bundchen to advise on governance issues.\"\nThe report also alleges:\n\nPrior to the SPAC merger, SBTech seems to have made a concerted effort to distance itself from its black-market dealings. Illicit customer relationships were shuffled into a newly formed “distributor” entity called BTi/CoreTech, with ~50 SBTech employees shifted across town to the new entity.\nThe CEO selected to run BTi/CoreTech was formerly an executive of a ‘binary options’ gambling firm raided by the FBI and subsequently charged by the SEC for deceiving U.S. investors out of over $100 million.\nFormer SBTech employees called BTi/CoreTech a “front”, and said the split preserved SBTech’s (and now DraftKings’) illicit business while shielding the public company from scrutiny. For all practical purposes, it appears that BTi/CoreTech functions as DraftKings’ undisclosed illegal gaming division.\nWe identified numerous black market clients of DraftKings’ “front” entity, through searches on social media and back-end web infrastructure. For example, an Asia-focused site tied to a triad kingpin at the center of a Swiss money laundering investigation advertises its use of BTi/CoreTech technology.\nIn 2019, Vietnamese authorities arrested 22 individuals involved in a “massive illegal online sports betting ring” linked to BTi/CoreTech’s platform.\nContrary to representations made to Oregon’s state lottery, a former employee told us SBTech had extensive operations in Iran, violating local laws in a market subject to heavy U.S. sanctions. We were told SBTech knowingly operated there for 4-5 years with the founder directly overseeing the operation.\nAround the time of the DraftKings deal, SBTech’s founder spun off another gaming brand that also operated in markets where gambling was banned, transferring it to his brother. The brand was behind a “massive Chinese operation”, according to a former employee, contrary to representations made to Oregon’s state lottery.\nThe brand continues to operate in China despite the strict local rules prohibiting online gambling, according to our review of web infrastructure for multiple China-facing gambling sites. DraftKings continues to transact with the entity, according to SEC filings.\nDraftKings trades at a ~26x last twelve months (LTM) sales multiple and a ~20x estimated 2021 sales multiple despite (i) no expectation of earnings for years, (ii) intense competition, and (iii) regulatory risk. The company posted net losses of $844 million in 2020 and $346 million last quarter.\nInsiders have dumped over $1.4 billion in stock since the company went public a little over a year ago, with SBTech’s founder leading the pack, having personally sold ~$568 million in shares.\nDespite a rocky track record prior to taking DraftKings public, the company’s SPAC sponsors ultimately received 9.3 million shares, worth around $114 million at the time, in exchange for a token $25 thousand contribution.\nWe spoke with several industry experts and competitors who questioned the viability of DraftKings’ model of aggressively burning cash on promotion and marketing to acquire customers in the near term, despite a lack of evidence of long-term customer brand loyalty.\nWe think DraftKings has systematically skirted the law and taken elaborate steps to obfuscate its black market operations. Rather, it's retail investors.
\n
Beginning in mid-January, retail investors on Reddit's WallStreetBets chatroom began banding together to buy shares and call options in stocks with very high levels of short interest. The goal of this strategy was to effect a short squeeze -- i.e., an event where short-sellers (pessimists) flee for the exit all at once, which can cause a rising share price to skyrocket higher.
\n
Quite a few of the stocks targeted by the Reddit community moved higher, with video game and accessories retailer GameStop representing the face of the retail movement.
\n

\n
\n
Bad news: Many of the most popular Reddit stocks are extremely pricey
\n
But after three months of retail investors attempting to exert their influence in the market, one thing has become crystal clear: Their assessment of what's \"cheap\" doesn't make a lot of sense.
\n
After perusing various social media sites, I've come across three ultra-popular Reddit stocks that the retail investment community believes are cheap or undervalued: movie-theater chain AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC), Canadian marijuana stock Sundial Growers (NASDAQ:SNDL), and clinical-stage veterinary drug and diagnostics company Zomedica (NYSEMKT:ZOM).
\n
While many of the reasons behind their supposed cheapness varies from company to company, one of the few constants I've witnessed is the argument that their current share prices are significantly lower than their all-time highs. As of the closing bell on Monday, April 12, a share of AMC, Sundial, and Zomedica could be respectively purchased for $8.62, $0.93, and $1.12.
\n
For some context here, AMC shares traded north of $35 in late 2016. Meanwhile, Sundial and Zomedica have traded as high as $12 and $3, respectively, within the past couple of years.
\n
The issue with this argument is that share price alone provides no context into a company's relative valuation without taking outstanding shares into account.
\n

\n
\n
For example, when AMC Entertainment's share price topped $35 in late 2016, its market cap neared, but never crossed, the $4 billion market-cap threshold. Today, with AMC's share price at $8.62, it boasts a market cap of close to $4.3 billion.
\n
Put another way, its share price has declined by around 75% since late 2016, but its market cap has grown by roughly 15%, all because the company's outstanding share count has ballooned higher. In reality, AMC has been historically pricier over the past two months than at any other time in its publicly traded history.
\n
The same can be said for Sundial. Shortly after it became a public company, shares of Sundial hit $12, equating to a $1.1 billion market cap. Today, shares of Sundial are going for $0.93, yet the market cap is around $1.54 billion.
\n
In less than two years, Sundial's share count has grown from less than 100 million to 1.66 billion outstanding. As a result, it's a pricier company now, at less than $1 a share, than it was when it had a $12 share price.
\n
To round things out, the same is true for Zomedica. In June 2018, when the company's share price quickly jumped to about $3, its market cap hit approximately $275 million. Today, with a $1.12 share price, Zomedica's market cap is nearly four times as high ($1.08 billion). In less than three years, Zomedica's outstanding share count has rocketed from a little over 90 million to 947.3 million. At no point in its history has Zomedica been this pricey.
\n

\n
\n
More bad news: They're fundamental and/or balance sheet disasters, too
\n
To make matters worse, it's not just that retail investors are bypassing a company's outstanding share count when making a determination if it's cheap. They're also overlooking some very serious operating or balance sheet flaws.
\n
For instance, Zomedica was a clinical-stage company until the first commercial sale of its Truforma diagnostics system for companion animals in mid-March. Although Zomedica now has plenty of cash to fund its research for years to come, it's a billion-dollar stock that began generating revenue less than a month ago. This would seem to be an extremely aggressive valuation for a company that's nowhere near profitability.
\n
As for Sundial Growers, it has plenty of cash -- $719 million Canadian, or $572 million U.S. -- but its management team has no concrete plans how to use it. What's more, the company recently authorized an at-the-market program that could see another $800 million worth of shares sold. After issuing 1.15 billion shares in five months, Sundial isn't quite done pummeling its investors. And the icing on the cake is that the company is one of the slowest-growing in the cannabis space.
\n
Lastly, there's AMC, which I've argued is the most dangerous Reddit stock of all. Whereas Zomedica and Sundial each have a sizable net cash position, AMC is sitting on $11 billion in convertible and non-convertible debt. By 2026, $7.2 billion of this debt comes due, $6 billion of which can't be converted into shares. With the company unlikely to be profitable for years and strangled by its debt, it'll need shareholders to authorize a huge increase in its outstanding share count next month to have any chance at long-term survival.
\n
The point I'm trying to make is this: Operating results and balance sheets always matter. Getting too focused on one metric (short interest) while blatantly ignoring operating or balance sheet red flags can lead to disaster.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
If You Think AMC, Sundial, and Zomedica Are Cheap, I Have Bad News
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nIf You Think AMC, Sundial, and Zomedica Are Cheap, I Have Bad News\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-04-16 19:57 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
For the past three months, it's not the pandemic that's been creating all the buzz on Wall Street. With the company unlikely to be profitable for years and strangled by its debt, it'll need shareholders to authorize a huge increase in its outstanding share count next month to have any chance at long-term survival.\nThe point I'm trying to make is this: Operating results and balance sheets always matter. Getting too focused on one metric (short interest) while blatantly ignoring operating or balance sheet red flags can lead to disaster.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":552,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":379229131,"gmtCreate":1618749086323,"gmtModify":1704714558067,"author":{"id":"3581573485414621","authorId":"3581573485414621","name":"Gingerbread","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c5f20467588b3cc061aa6155e8ffdf2d","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581573485414621","authorIdStr":"3581573485414621"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/379229131","repostId":"1165321503","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1165321503","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1618588143,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1165321503?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-16 23:49","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Fed’s Waller says the economy is ‘ready to rip’ but policy should stay put","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1165321503","media":"cnbc","summary":"KEY POINTSFed Governor Christopher Waller told CNBC on Friday that the economy “is ready to rip.Howe","content":"
\n
KEY POINTSFed Governor Christopher Waller told CNBC on Friday that the economy “is ready to rip. However, he said there’s still “no reason to be pulling the plug” on the heavy levels of policy support ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; We get 70% of the population vaccinated, then all the fundamentals are there for good, strong growth that we left back in January, February of 2020,” he said. “We’ve still got room to catch up to where we were. We’re making up for lost ground.”‘No reason to be pulling the plug’The economy officially entered recession in February 2020, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research, which makes the official call on contractions and expansions. While the U.S. is poised for another quarter of strong growth, gross domestic product is still running a bit below where it was prior to the Covid-19 onset. That’s part of the reason Waller concurs with his fellow central bankers in seeingthe need to keep policy loose. The Fed is currently holding short-term borrowing rates near zero while it purchases at least $120 billion of bonds each month. In a major policy shift last year, the Fed pledged that it will not raise rates until it sees full and inclusive employment, and is willing to tolerate inflation a bit above the traditional 2% target until it gets there. Fed officials have expressed concern about the uneven nature of the recovery, particularly regarding those at the lower end of the income spectrum.“We’ve got to make that up first,” Waller said. “Other parts of the economy seem to have really come back. We still have relatively high unemployment rates, particularly for minorities, and so we’ve still got a long way to go. There’s no reason to be pulling the plug on our support till we’re really through this.”Waller added that he thinks inflationary pressures that have begun to show up are likely temporary, a view widely held at the Fed. The consumer price index rose 2.6% in March from a year ago.Waller said he expects the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge based on personal consumption expenditures could run around 2.5% for 2021.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":389,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":379393393,"gmtCreate":1618668149412,"gmtModify":1704713953678,"author":{"id":"3581573485414621","authorId":"3581573485414621","name":"Gingerbread","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c5f20467588b3cc061aa6155e8ffdf2d","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581573485414621","authorIdStr":"3581573485414621"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting read","listText":"Interesting read","text":"Interesting read","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/379393393","repostId":"1162545659","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1162545659","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1618579529,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1162545659?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-16 21:25","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Ebang International Stock Is Cheap, Despite Crypto Exchange Launch","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1162545659","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"The market's negative response is your chance to pick up shares of EBON stock.(April 16) Ebang Inter","content":"
The market's negative response is your chance to pick up shares of EBON stock.

(April 16) Ebang International Stock rose about 10% in Friday morning trading.

Among the most buzz-worthy names in the cryptocurrency mining space in 2021 is China-basedEbang International (NASDAQ:EBON). by comparison, the average junk bond yields just about 4%) for the sole purpose of buying bitcoin, earlier today MSTR CEO Michael Saylor confirmed that the transaction had been consummated with the company buying 13,005 bitcoin at an average price of $37,617 for a total of $489 million.\nThe transaction has cemented MSTR's status asthe largest corporate hodler of bitcoin, with a total of 105,085 bitcoin acquired for $2.741 billion or an average price of $26,080.\n\nPutting these numbers in context, the amount purchased using junk bond proceeds was more than $100 million higher than the company’s entire operating cash flow since 2016, according to Bloomberg data; MicroStrategy also announced that it was taking a roughly $284.5 million charge during its next earnings report thanks to losses related to fluctuations in the price of the digital asset. That amounts to more than its cumulative earnings since 2011.\nPreviously, MSTR already issued convertible bonds worth around $1 billion in its quest to scoop up more of the coins, though this was the first-ever corporate bond sale with proceeds earmarked for such purchases.\nNaturally, news of the offering sparked both praise from the diamond hand crew, as well as scathing criticism from the crypto skeptics:\n“The $400 million in debt isn’t being used to fund an acquisition or growth. It’s being used to speculate on a volatile asset,” said Marc Lichtenfeld, chief income strategist at the Oxford Club. “Does MicroStrategy even have a business anymore or is it simply a proxy for Bitcoin -- with borrowed money?”\nThe answer is obvious, and considering the move in the stock in the past year, it has been a great strategy... so far.\nNews of the offering come in a day when the crypto space tumbled...\n... after the latest dose of FUD from China (how many times can Beijing credibly ban bitcoin before investors start asking if this is just a daily jawboning tactic to distract from the disastrous reception of the digital yuan).\n\nSaylor has been one of leading advocates of converting company cash to Bitcoin, saying that the Federal Reserve’s relaxing of its inflation policy helped convince him to invest MicroStrategy’s reserves. The company’s disclosures around Bitcoin and its foray into the digital-assets space served as one of the catalysts to the coin’s red-hot rally in 2020 and early 2021, before it tumbled last month. The coin on Monday traded just over $32,000 down more than 50% from its mid-April record.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":629,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":187731314,"gmtCreate":1623764142638,"gmtModify":1703818593379,"author":{"id":"3581573485414621","authorId":"3581573485414621","name":"Gingerbread","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c5f20467588b3cc061aa6155e8ffdf2d","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581573485414621","authorIdStr":"3581573485414621"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"How long can this go on for?","listText":"How long can this go on for?","text":"How long can this go on for?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/187731314","repostId":"2143751575","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2143751575","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Dow Jones publishes the world’s most trusted business news and financial information in a variety of media.","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Dow Jones","id":"106","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/150f88aa4d182df19190059f4a365e99"},"pubTimestamp":1623760860,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2143751575?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-15 20:41","market":"us","language":"en","title":"AMC stock slips 2.2% premarket, after running up 33.1% over the past 2 sessions","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2143751575","media":"Dow Jones","summary":"MW AMC stock slips 2.2% premarket, after running up 33.1% over the past 2 sessions\n\n\n \n\n\n$(END)$ Dow","content":"

\n
\nMW AMC stock slips 2.2% premarket, after running up 33.1% over the past 2 sessions\n
\n
\n \n
\n
\n $(END)$ Dow Jones Newswires\n
\n
\n June 15, 2021 08:41 ET (12:41 GMT)\n
\n
\n Copyright (c) 2021 Dow Jones & Company, Inc.\n
\n

","collect":0,"html":"\n

So far this year, it hasn’t been unusual to see tens of millions of EBON stock shares trade hands every Monday through Friday. The company’sprimary business segments involvedesigning application-specific integrated circuit (ASICs) and manufacturing high-performanceBitcoin (CCC:BTC-USD) mining machines. However, the company recently added another business segment. You might assume that this would be good news, but the market’s reaction wasn’t particularly positive. In addition to that, there’s a scathing report from a well-known short seller to consider. So, is it possible to construct a bull thesis for Ebang International despite these concerns?A Closer Look at EBON StockDuring the past three years, EBON stock has risen to about $10 and then fallen back to about $5 three times. Thus, we could say that there’s a defined price range for this stock.Market traders could view this situation in a couple of different ways. If the up-and-down moves in Ebang shares are making you seasick, then perhaps you’d be better off investing is less volatile assets. On the other hand, if you can handle volatility, then perhaps you can “play the range” in EBON stock. Yet, the share price didn’t stay there for much longer than a week.Fast-forward to April 5, when White reported on thefull launch of Ebang’s cryptocurrency exchange, which is called Ebonex. As White pointed out, it appears that the exchange isn’t available to everyone who wants to take part in trading crypto.I tested this out from a U.S.-based location by visiting the website, and it returned a message saying, “We are sorry that EBONEXno longer provides crypto trading in your country/regiondue to local regulatory requirements for the crypto industry. Thank you for your support and understanding.”I can imagine that some other folks visited the site and received the same message, and were disappointed. It might not be a mere coincidence, then, that the EBON stock price dropped over the next few days after the full Ebonex launch.More Bad NewsAs if that weren’t problematic enough, here’s another potentially discouraging piece of news for Ebang shareholders. On April 6, InvestorPlacecontributor Vivian Medithi reported that famous analytic firm and short seller Hindenburg Researchissued a strongly negative report about Ebang International.Hindenburg’s accusations were quite harsh. For one thing, the short seller claimed that Ebang is reporting “whatappears to be fictitious volumes” for Ebonex. Moreover, Hindenburg disputes Ebang’s claim to be a “leading bitcoin mining machine producer.” According to Hindenburg, Ebang “has since [May 2019] seen its sales dwindle to near-zero.”Hindenburg’s report came out soon after Ebang’s disappointing crypto exchange launch. These violations appear to be continuing to this day, all while insiders aggressively cash out amidst the market froth.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":230,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":379223034,"gmtCreate":1618749187228,"gmtModify":1704714559036,"author":{"id":"3581573485414621","authorId":"3581573485414621","name":"Gingerbread","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c5f20467588b3cc061aa6155e8ffdf2d","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581573485414621","authorIdStr":"3581573485414621"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Insightful","listText":"Insightful","text":"Insightful","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/379223034","repostId":"2127342088","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2127342088","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1618574220,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2127342088?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-16 19:57","market":"us","language":"en","title":"If You Think AMC, Sundial, and Zomedica Are Cheap, I Have Bad News","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2127342088","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These ultra-popular Reddit stocks are fooling unsuspecting investors with their low share prices.","content":"
For the past three months, it's not the pandemic that's been creating all the buzz on Wall Street.
