That's more than Target's total sales growth over the previous 11 years. Digital sales climbed 145%. And Target's delivery and pickup services posted 235% growth.</p>\n<p>Digital gains arelikely to continue. Even prior to the pandemic, Target already had been growing digital sales more than 25% annually over six consecutive years. And net income has climbed for the past three years.</p>\n<p>Disney</p>\n<p><b>Disney</b>(NYSE:DIS)swung to a loss last year as the coronavirus temporarily closed its biggest revenue driver: its parks. The parks, experiences, and products business in 2019 made up 38% of sales. Disney closed its parks in March 2020. The Florida parks -- including the Magic Kingdom -- reopened in July. But Disneyland in California remained closed -- it's now set to open on April 30.</p>\n<p>Still, Disney shares have advanced more than 80% over the past year. Disney's streaming services including Disney+ offered investors a reason for optimism. That business unit posted an 81% increase in revenue for the 2020 fiscal year. And subscriptions have grown much faster than Disney expected. In the first quarter ended Dec. 31, Disney+ had 94.9 million subscribers. Back in 2019, Disney forecast 60 million to 90 million subscribers by fiscal 2024.</p>\n<p>Disney also benefited from confidence that fans would return once parks reopened. Disney parks were the world's most popular by attendance prior to the pandemic, according to a TEA/AECOM report. The stock advanced more than 100% over the past decade, for example. And investors can expect to benefit from dividends as well. The company has increased dividends for the past 65 years. Earlier this month, P&amp;G announceda 10% increasein the quarterly dividend to $0.87 a share. That represents a $3.48 annual dividend and a 2.58% yield. P&amp;G will pay more than $8 billion in dividends this fiscal year.</p>\n<p>In the most recent earnings report, P&amp;G showed it's advancing in an important growth area. I'm talking about e-commerce. P&amp;G said 14% of its business worldwide now comes from e-commerce. And the company is making efforts to make its products stand out for online customers. For instance, it's focusing on packaging that can withstand a bumpy journey to the customer's home.</p>\n<p>Annual revenue has been climbing for the past three years. And in the recent earnings report -- the third quarter of the 2021 fiscal year -- earnings per share rose 8%. The outlook is bright for the full year too. P&amp;G predicts earnings per share ona GAAP basiswill climb in the range of 8% to 10% in the 2021 fiscal year. While those have won greater acceptance among investors over the past year, they remain the lifeblood of ransomware operators and other criminals who face little risk of prosecution in much of the world.</p>\n<p>Ransomware gangs collected almost $350 million last year, up threefold from 2019, two members of the task force wrote this week. Companies, government agencies, hospitals and school systems are among the victims of ransomware groups, some of which U.S. officials say have friendly relations with nation-states including North Korea and Russia.</p>\n<p>\"There’s a lot more that can be done to constrain the abuse of these pretty amazing technologies,\" said Philip Reiner, chief executive of the Institute for Security and Technology, who led the Ransomware Task Force. He declined to comment on the report before its release.</p>\n<p>Just a week ago, the U.S. Department of Justice established a government group on ransomware. Central bank regulators and financial crime investigators worldwide are also debating if and how cryptocurrencies should be regulated.</p>\n<p>The new rules proposed by the public-private panel, some of which would need Congressional action, are mostly aimed at piercing the anonymity of cryptocurrency transactions, the sources said. If implemented, they could temper enthusiasm among those who see the cryptocurrencies as a refuge from national monetary policies and government oversight of individuals' financial activities, having surged past $1 trillion in total capitalization.</p>\n<p>The task force included representatives from the FBI and the United States Secret Service as well as major tech and security companies. It will recommend steps such as extending “know-your-customer” regulations to currency exchanges; imposing tougher licensing requirements for those processing cryptocurrency; and extending money-laundering rules to facilities such as kiosks for converting currency.</p>\n<p>It also calls for the creation of a special team of experts within the Justice Department to facilitate seizures of cryptocurrency, a process currently fraught with logistical and legal challenges.</p>\n<p>Some of the ideas echo those proposed by&nbsp;the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, which would expand disclosure rules for transactions worth more than $10,000.</p>\n<p>Federal investigators said a proposal to register accounts would be especially helpful for identifying drug smugglers, human traffickers and terrorists as well as ransomware groups.</p>\n<p>\"That would be huge,\" said a senior Homeland Security Official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss emerging policy proposals. \"This is a world that was created exactly to be anonymous, but at some point, you have to give up something to make sure everyone's safe.\"</p>\n<p>Governments are already using the blockchain ledger that documents all bitcoin transactions to bring some charges. Last week, authorities arrested a man in Los Angeles and accused him of laundering more than $300 million through a service that combines transactions from multiple cryptocurrency wallets to obscure who is paying whom.</p>\n<p>Records from the U.S. Marshals Service show that more than $150 million in crypto assets were seized last year and offered to the public at auction. Companies, government agencies, hospitals and school systems are among the victims of ransomware groups, some of which U.S. officials say have friendly relations with nation-states including North Korea and Russia.</p>\n<p>\"There’s a lot more that can be done to constrain the abuse of these pretty amazing technologies,\" said Philip Reiner, chief executive of the Institute for Security and Technology, who led the Ransomware Task Force. If implemented, they could temper enthusiasm among those who see the cryptocurrencies as a refuge from national monetary policies and government oversight of individuals' financial activities, having surged past $1 trillion in total capitalization.</p>\n<p>The task force included representatives from the FBI and the United States Secret Service as well as major tech and security companies. And Target's delivery and pickup services posted 235% growth.</p>\n<p>Digital gains arelikely to continue. Even prior to the pandemic, Target already had been growing digital sales more than 25% annually over six consecutive years. And net income has climbed for the past three years.</p>\n<p>Disney</p>\n<p><b>Disney</b>(NYSE:DIS)swung to a loss last year as the coronavirus temporarily closed its biggest revenue driver: its parks. The parks, experiences, and products business in 2019 made up 38% of sales. Disney closed its parks in March 2020. The Florida parks -- including the Magic Kingdom -- reopened in July. But Disneyland in California remained closed -- it's now set to open on April 30.</p>\n<p>Still, Disney shares have advanced more than 80% over the past year. Disney's streaming services including Disney+ offered investors a reason for optimism. That business unit posted an 81% increase in revenue for the 2020 fiscal year. And subscriptions have grown much faster than Disney expected. In the first quarter ended Dec. 31, Disney+ had 94.9 million subscribers. Back in 2019, Disney forecast 60 million to 90 million subscribers by fiscal 2024.</p>\n<p>Disney also benefited from confidence that fans would return once parks reopened. Earlier this month, P&amp;G announceda 10% increasein the quarterly dividend to $0.87 a share. That represents a $3.48 annual dividend and a 2.58% yield. P&amp;G will pay more than $8 billion in dividends this fiscal year.</p>\n<p>In the most recent earnings report, P&amp;G showed it's advancing in an important growth area. I'm talking about e-commerce. P&amp;G said 14% of its business worldwide now comes from e-commerce. And the company is making efforts to make its products stand out for online customers. For instance, it's focusing on packaging that can withstand a bumpy journey to the customer's home.</p>\n<p>Annual revenue has been climbing for the past three years. And in the recent earnings report -- the third quarter of the 2021 fiscal year -- earnings per share rose 8%. The outlook is bright for the full year too.
