Throughout the investigation, Microsoft provided extensive support to the employee who raised the concern.”
\n
A spokeswoman for Mr. Gates said, “There was an affair almost 20 years ago which ended amicably.” She said his “decision to transition off the board was in no way related to this matter. In fact, he had expressed an interest in spending more time on his philanthropy starting several years earlier.”
\n
Mr. Gates resigned from the Microsoft board on March 13, 2020, three months after he had been re-elected to his seat. In a press release filed with regulators and a post on LinkedIn, the billionaire said then he wanted to focus on his philanthropy and would continue to serve as a technical adviser to Chief Executive Satya Nadella. That same day, he also vacated his board seat at Berkshire Hathaway Inc., the conglomerate run by Mr. Gates’s friend Warren Buffett.
\n
Mr. Gates and his wife Melinda French Gates announced earlier this month that theywere ending their marriageafter 27 years. In a joint statement posted on Twitter, the couple said, “We no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives.” In a divorce petition, Ms. French Gates said their marriage was “irretrievably broken.”
\n
Ms. French Gates had been working with lawyers at several firms since at least 2019 to unwind the marriage,The Wall Street Journal reported last week. The couple hasn’t said what prompted the split. One source of concern for Ms. French Gates was her husband’s dealings with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the Journal reported. A spokeswoman for Mr. Gates said in 2019 that he met with Mr. Epstein for philanthropic reasons and regretted doing so.
\n
Mr. Gates was Microsoft’s chief executive until 2000, chief software architect until 2006 and chairman until 2014. In recent years, Mr. Gates continued to serve on the board and as a technical adviser to Mr. Nadella even as he shifted his focus to his philanthropy, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He continues to serve as a technical adviser to Mr. Nadella.
\n
In April 2019, Microsoft said it would change its process for handling employee complaints of harassment and discrimination. The company also said at the time it would add additional training and boost the number of human resources staff who address complaints, among other changes.
\n
Mr. Nadella announced the changes after women at Microsoft shared stories of sexual harassment and discrimination in an email chain within the company, the Microsoft spokesman confirmed. Quartz originallyreported the email chainin 2019.
\n
Members of the Microsoft board became aware in late 2019 of the letter from the female engineer, who demanded changes to her Microsoft job and also shared details of her relationship with Mr. Gates, the people familiar with the matter said. Mr. Nadella and other senior executives were aware of the woman’s allegations, some of the people said.
\n
Some board members asked about Mr. Gates’s dealings with Mr. Epstein, one of the people said. Board members were told the relationship was focused on philanthropy and nothing more, this person said.
\n
In December 2019—before the end of the probe—Mr. Gates was re-elected to Microsoft’s board at the annual shareholder meeting. As more became clear about the matter, board members were concerned Mr. Gates’s relationship with the woman had been inappropriate and they didn’t want a director associated with this situation in the wake of the #MeToo movement, the people said.
\n
As part of her discussions with Microsoft, the employee asked that Ms. French Gates read her letter, people familiar with the matter said. It couldn’t be learned whether Ms. French Gates read the letter.
\n
A Harvard dropout, Mr. Gates started Microsoft in 1975 with childhood friend Paul Allen and built it into one of the world’s biggest companies, making the pair two of the planet’s richest people. Mr. Gates married Melinda French, then a Microsoft employee, in January 1994.
\n
Mr. Gates and his rival Steve Jobs, who died in 2011, became the faces most closely associated with the rise of personal computers. Microsoft and Apple Inc. now rank as the two of the largest public companies, with a market value of more than $1.8 trillion and $2.1 trillion, respectively.
\n
“Microsoft will always be an important part of my life’s work and I will continue to be engaged with Satya and the technical leadership to help shape the vision and achieve the company’s ambitious goals,” Mr. Gates wrote in the March 2020 LinkedIn post announcing his departure from the board.
\n
By 2020, the Gateses were already in discussionsto divide their vast wealthand legal teams from both sides were privately in discussions with a mediator to work out a separation, the Journal previously reported.
\n
The May 3 divorce filing says the couple had agreed to a separation contract to divide their assets—a fortune estimated at $130 billion by Forbes. The Gateses have said they would give away most of their wealth and have donated more than $36 billion to the Gates Foundation over the years. The couple said theyplanned to remain co-chairsat the foundation and jointly lead it after their divorce.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Throughout the investigation, Microsoft provided extensive support to the employee who raised the concern.”\nA spokeswoman for Mr. Gates said, “There was an affair almost 20 years ago which ended amicably.” She said his “decision to transition off the board was in no way related to this matter. In fact, he had expressed an interest in spending more time on his philanthropy starting several years earlier.”\nMr. Gates’s friend Warren Buffett.\nMr. Gates and his wife Melinda French Gates announced earlier this month that theywere ending their marriageafter 27 years. In a joint statement posted on Twitter, the couple said, “We no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives.” In a divorce petition, Ms. French Gates said their marriage was “irretrievably broken.”\nMs. Epstein for philanthropic reasons and regretted doing so.\nMr. Nadella.\nIn April 2019, Microsoft said it would change its process for handling employee complaints of harassment and discrimination. The company also said at the time it would add additional training and boost the number of human resources staff who address complaints, among other changes.\nMr. Nadella announced the changes after women at Microsoft shared stories of sexual harassment and discrimination in an email chain within the company, the Microsoft spokesman confirmed. Quartz originallyreported the email chainin 2019.\nMembers of the Microsoft board became aware in late 2019 of the letter from the female engineer, who demanded changes to her Microsoft job and also shared details of her relationship with Mr. Gates, the people familiar with the matter said. Mr. Nadella and other senior executives were aware of the woman’s allegations, some of the people said.\nSome board members asked about Mr. Gates’s dealings with Mr. Epstein, one of the people said. Board members were told the relationship was focused on philanthropy and nothing more, this person said.\nIn December 2019—before the end of the probe—Mr. Gates was re-elected to Microsoft’s board at the annual shareholder meeting. As more became clear about the matter, board members were concerned Mr. Gates’s relationship with the woman had been inappropriate and they didn’t want a director associated with this situation in the wake of the #MeToo movement, the people said.\nAs part of her discussions with Microsoft, the employee asked that Ms. French Gates read her letter, people familiar with the matter said. It couldn’t be learned whether Ms. French Gates read the letter.\nA Harvard dropout, Mr. Gates started Microsoft in 1975 with childhood friend Paul Allen and built it into one of the world’s biggest companies, making the pair two of the planet’s richest people. Mr. Gates married Melinda French, then a Microsoft employee, in January 1994.\nMr. Gates and his rival Steve Jobs, who died in 2011, became the faces most closely associated with the rise of personal computers. Microsoft and Apple Inc. now rank as the two of the largest public companies, with a market value of more than $1.8 trillion and $2.1 trillion, respectively.\n“Microsoft will always be an important part of my life’s work and I will continue to be engaged with Satya and the technical leadership to help shape the vision and achieve the company’s ambitious goals,” Mr. Gates wrote in the March 2020 LinkedIn post announcing his departure from the board.\nBy 2020, the Gateses were already in discussionsto divide their vast wealthand legal teams from both sides were privately in discussions with a mediator to work out a separation, the Journal previously reported.\nThe May 3 divorce filing says the couple had agreed to a separation contract to divide their assets—a fortune estimated at $130 billion by Forbes. The Gateses have said they would give away most of their wealth and have donated more than $36 billion to the Gates Foundation over the years. The couple said theyplanned to remain co-chairsat the foundation and jointly lead it after their divorce.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":268,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":195157166,"gmtCreate":1621264908855,"gmtModify":1704354908891,"author":{"id":"3581821487169420","authorId":"3581821487169420","name":"Huatzoizoi","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6fb336bf01d8170f8a497d42409ebf35","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581821487169420","authorIdStr":"3581821487169420"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"True?","listText":"True?","text":"True?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/195157166","repostId":"1193810245","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1193810245","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1621231602,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1193810245?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-17 14:06","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Elon Musk said,To clarify speculation, Tesla has not sold any Bitcoin.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1193810245","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Elon Musk said,To clarify speculation, Tesla has not sold any Bitcoin.Bitcoin price bounced back to ","content":"
Elon Musk said,To clarify speculation, Tesla has not sold any Bitcoin.

Bitcoin price bounced back to $45,000.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; It can be tough for a company reportin","content":"
High standards are great when it comes to running a business. It can be tough for a company reporting earnings, as Walmart will on Tuesday.
\n
Analysts are looking for Walmart to earn $1.21 a share on revenue of $132.2 billion for its fiscal first quarter. That compares to per-share earnings of $1.39 last quarter and $1.18 in the year-ago period, and revenue of $134.6 billion a year ago.
\n
If recent history is any guide, Walmart will beat those numbers—but that won’t be good enough for the stock, which has dropped following every earnings release since the pandemic started. While there is a slim hope it could break that pattern, investors have held the retail giant to the highest of standards over the past year, and that doesn’t look like it will change.
\n
It’s hard to overstate how much of a boost Walmart has seen from the Covid-19 pandemic. As an essential retailer, it was able to stay open at the start of the crisis—reaping the benefits as consumers stocked up in anticipation of spending more time at home. And even as restrictions loosened and vaccinations offered a path back to normalcy, Walmart and its large retail peers continued to thrive. Consumers, bolstered by stimulus checks and spending less on dining and travel, were eager to spend throughout much of 2020.
\n
Walmart stock didn’t respond well to those Covid-driven beats, although its shares had a great 2020. Walmart reported its first quarter of 2020, the first reported after Covid lockdowns, in mid-May of that year. The numbers were fine, but the stock dropped 2.1%. The same thing happened in August, when investors fretted that Walmart’s same-store sales were growing at a slower pace than Target’s(TGT), and again in November, when earnings beat expectations but Walmart was rewarded with a falling stock, even if the shares managed to finish 2020 up 21%.
\n
Not so in 2021. Despite reporting record sales of $152 billion, Walmart missed earnings, and the stock fell 6.5%. Walmart stock is still down 3.2% this year, and that’s even more disappointing when compared with Target, which has gained 20%.
\n
On some levels, the comparison between Walmart and Target isn’t an apples-to-apples. With itsoverseas investments and fintech ventures, Walmart is a bigger and more complex company. Target’s smaller size has given it more room to grow, especially as it entered the pandemic fresh off a successful turnaround, pivoting from missteps in its early omnichannel efforts and Canadian expansion. Target’s core customers are slightly wealthier as well, and in turn less dependent on stimulus checks to weather the pandemic.
\n
That’s cold comfort for investors, however, especially because Walmart stock might struggle to break its post-earnings losing streak. Multiple analysts have warned that membership sign-ups may be lagging at its subscription service Walmart+. Walmart’s lower-income shoppers may also struggle more with inflation pushing up prices for many consumer goods.
\n
The latest round of government stimulus helped retail sales leap in March to a pandemic-era high, while U.S. consumer confidence reached its highest levels in 14 months in April, and both data points mean increased odds that Walmart could report stronger-than-expected same-store sales, which are predicted to rise 1.1%. The company, however, faces tough year-over-year comparisons after growing same-store sales at a 1.3% clip one year ago. It’s unclear whether investors will reward a beat or punish slower sales.
\n
If it’s the latter, the stock could still have an uphill battle after the release—beat or no beat.
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Walmart Reports Earnings Tuesday. Target’s core customers are slightly wealthier as well, and in turn less dependent on stimulus checks to weather the pandemic.\nThat’s cold comfort for investors, however, especially because Walmart stock might struggle to break its post-earnings losing streak. Multiple analysts have warned that membership sign-ups may be lagging at its subscription service Walmart+. Walmart’s lower-income shoppers may also struggle more with inflation pushing up prices for many consumer goods.\nThe latest round of government stimulus helped retail sales leap in March to a pandemic-era high, while U.S. consumer confidence reached its highest levels in 14 months in April, and both data points mean increased odds that Walmart could report stronger-than-expected same-store sales, which are predicted to rise 1.1%. The company, however, faces tough year-over-year comparisons after growing same-store sales at a 1.3% clip one year ago. It’s unclear whether investors will reward a beat or punish slower sales.\nIf it’s the latter, the stock could still have an uphill battle after the release—beat or no beat.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":441,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":104595051,"gmtCreate":1620396808873,"gmtModify":1704343127174,"author":{"id":"3581821487169420","authorId":"3581821487169420","name":"Huatzoizoi","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6fb336bf01d8170f8a497d42409ebf35","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581821487169420","authorIdStr":"3581821487169420"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Miser] [Miser] [Miser] [Strong] [Strong] ","listText":"[Miser] [Miser] [Miser] [Strong] [Strong] ","text":"[Miser] [Miser] [Miser] [Strong] [Strong]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/104595051","repostId":"2133750049","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2133750049","pubTimestamp":1620396600,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2133750049?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-07 22:10","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Cheap Tech Stocks to Buy Right Now","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2133750049","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Juniper Networks and two other stocks should recover from the latest tech sell-off.","content":"
Many tech stocks soared last year as stay-at-home trends boosted demand for their products and services. But I think this is not even a basic scenario, but a pessimistic scenario.

I present my comprehensive Amazon (AMZN) analysis in light of the results of the last quarter.

#1 Price vs. Growth

First of all, let's assess whether we can statistically state that Amazon's growth has accelerated or slowed down in the last quarter. To do this, let's compare the revenue growth trends of the key segments of the company with and without the results of the last four quarters.

The dynamics of the 'Online Stores' segment showed a qualitative breakthrough. Without taking into account the last four quarters, a near-linear trend was observed here. Now, it has become exponential:

Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com

The 'Third-Party Seller Services' segment - the exponential growth continues:

Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com

The 'Subscription Services' (Amazon Prime) segment - here the acceleration remains, and the result of the last quarter was better than the trend:

Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com

The 'Other' (advertising services) segment has also showed a significant acceleration:

Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com

The growth trend of 'Amazon Web Services' has slowed down, but judging by the results of the last quarter, there is a gradual return to the previous trend:

Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com

Geographically, Amazon's revenue was also significantly better than the trend:

Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com

So, statistically, not subjectively, we should recognize the acceleration of the company's growthin all key segments. In my opinion, this is exactly what is expected from Amazon.

Further. Over the last 10 years, Amazon's capitalization has been in a qualitative linear relationship with its revenue:

Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com

There is also a certain influence of the company's revenue growth rate on its multiples:

Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com

Based on these two relationships and taking into account the influence of the growth of theM2 money stockin the US, it is possible to build another model that allows us to determine the balanced level of the company's capitalization. In addition, this model allows to model the growth of the company's capitalization based on the current expectations of analysts regarding the company's revenue growth in the next four quarters. Here is this model:

Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com

As you can see, firstly, this model indicates that the company's current price is alreadybelow the balanced level. And secondly, it assumes a25% growthin capitalization in the next four quarters.

#2 Comparative Valuation

In the previous block, I modeled Amazon's balanced price based on revenue. What is remarkable is that if we apply the same approach to the comparative valuation of the company using multiples, we will fail. At least I have not been able to find a single revenue-based multiple that would make it possible to successfully compare Amazon to other companies. But the forward P/E (next FY) multiple adjusted by the expected EPS annual growth rate made it possible to find a suitable model:

Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com

As you can see, judging by this multiple, Amazon is significantly undervalued.

#3 Discounted Cash Flow Model

When predicting Amazon's revenue for the next decade, I proceeded from the average expectations ofanalysts:

Source: Seeking Alpha Pro

When predicting the dynamics of Amazon's operating margin, I also proceeded from analysts'expectationsregarding the growth of the company's EPS, and taking into account the gradual increase in the tax rate to 25%. In my opinion, a gradual increase in the operating margin to 8% in the terminal year is a very realistic scenario.

Here is the calculation of the Weighted Average Cost of Capital:

Source: Author

Some explanations:

In order to calculate the market rate of return, I used values of equityriskpremium (4.72%) and the current yield of UST10 as a risk-free rate (1.6%).

I used the currentvalueof the three-year beta coefficient (0.92). For the terminal year, I used Beta equal to 1.

To calculate the Cost of Debt, I used the interest expense for 2019 and 2020 divided by the debt value for the same years.

Here is the model itself:

(In high resolution)

Source: Author

The DCF-based target price of Amazon's shares is $4,280, offering 29% upside.

Final thoughts

Amazon is one of the companies whose growth has not yet reached its limit and not even entered the plateau phase. In a sense, this is a startup with $73 billion cash.

The fact that Amazon remains in the acceleration phase does not mean that its capitalization is constantly undervalued. But I think this is not even a basic scenario, but a pessimistic scenario.I present my comprehensive Amazon (AMZN) analysis in light of the results of the last quarter.#1 Price vs. GrowthFirst of all, let's assess whether we can statistically state that Amazon's growth has accelerated or slowed down in the last quarter. To do this, let's compare the revenue growth trends of the key segments of the company with and without the results of the last four quarters. The dynamics of the 'Online Stores' segment showed a qualitative breakthrough. Now, it has become exponential:Source: VisualizedAnalytics.comThe 'Third-Party Seller Services' segment - the exponential growth continues:Source: VisualizedAnalytics.comThe 'Subscription Services' (Amazon Prime) segment - here the acceleration remains, and the result of the last quarter was better than the trend:Source: VisualizedAnalytics.comThe 'Other' (advertising services) segment has also showed a significant acceleration:Source: VisualizedAnalytics.comThe growth trend of 'Amazon Web Services' has slowed down, but judging by the results of the last quarter, there is a gradual return to the previous trend:Source: VisualizedAnalytics.comGeographically, Amazon's revenue was also significantly better than the trend:Source: VisualizedAnalytics.comSo, statistically, not subjectively, we should recognize the acceleration of the company's growthin all key segments. In my opinion, this is exactly what is expected from Amazon.Further. Over the last 10 years, Amazon's capitalization has been in a qualitative linear relationship with its revenue:Source: VisualizedAnalytics.comThere is also a certain influence of the company's revenue growth rate on its multiples:Source: VisualizedAnalytics.comBased on these two relationships and taking into account the influence of the growth of theM2 money stockin the US, it is possible to build another model that allows us to determine the balanced level of the company's capitalization. In addition, this model allows to model the growth of the company's capitalization based on the current expectations of analysts regarding the company's revenue growth in the next four quarters. Here is this model:Source: VisualizedAnalytics.comAs you can see, firstly, this model indicates that the company's current price is alreadybelow the balanced level. And secondly, it assumes a25% growthin capitalization in the next four quarters.#2 Comparative ValuationIn the previous block, I modeled Amazon's balanced price based on revenue. What is remarkable is that if we apply the same approach to the comparative valuation of the company using multiples, we will fail. At least I have not been able to find a single revenue-based multiple that would make it possible to successfully compare Amazon to other companies. But the forward P/E (next FY) multiple adjusted by the expected EPS annual growth rate made it possible to find a suitable model:Source: VisualizedAnalytics.comAs you can see, judging by this multiple, Amazon is significantly undervalued.#3 Discounted Cash Flow ModelWhen predicting Amazon's revenue for the next decade, I proceeded from the average expectations ofanalysts:Source: Seeking Alpha ProWhen predicting the dynamics of Amazon's operating margin, I also proceeded from analysts'expectationsregarding the growth of the company's EPS, and taking into account the gradual increase in the tax rate to 25%. In my opinion, a gradual increase in the operating margin to 8% in the terminal year is a very realistic scenario. Here is the calculation of the Weighted Average Cost of Capital:Source: AuthorSome explanations:In order to calculate the market rate of return, I used values of equityriskpremium (4.72%) and the current yield of UST10 as a risk-free rate (1.6%).I used the currentvalueof the three-year beta coefficient (0.92). For the terminal year, I used Beta equal to 1.To calculate the Cost of Debt, I used the interest expense for 2019 and 2020 divided by the debt value for the same years. Here is the model itself:(In high resolution)Source: AuthorThe DCF-based target price of Amazon's shares is $4,280, offering 29% upside.Final thoughtsAmazon is one of the companies whose growth has not yet reached its limit and not even entered the plateau phase. In a sense, this is a startup with $73 billion cash. The fact that Amazon remains in the acceleration phase does not mean that its capitalization is constantly undervalued. But in this case, based on the patterns between the company's capitalization and the parameters of its revenue, we can conclude that the company isundervalued.Comparing Amazon to other companies through the prism of expected EPS growth, it must be admitted that the company ismuch cheaperthan the market.DCF model based on average expectations analysts indicate a 30% undervaluation. Its total revenue stayed flat at $4.45 billion in fiscal 2020, but it grew 8% year over year in the first quarter of 2021 as cyclical demand for its networking hardware and services accelerated again.
\n
Analysts expect Juniper's revenue and earnings to rise 5% and 10%, respectively, this year. However, its stock only trades at 14 times forward earnings and pays a high forward dividend yield of 3.1%. It only spent 63% of its free cash flow on its dividend over the past 12 months, so it still has plenty of room to raise its payout as it expands its cloud portfolio and higher-margin software business.
\n
2. Alphabet
\n
Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL), the parent company of Google, suffered a brief slowdown in ad sales during the pandemic last year. Its business remained resilient throughout the crisis as big companies continued to tap its cloud-based services to reach customers and optimize their internal operations.
\n
Analysts expect Salesforce's revenue to rise 21% this year, but for its earnings to decline 30% as it completes its upcoming takeover of Slack (NYSE:WORK). The short-term expenses from that $27.7 billion deal are weighing down the stock, but the integration of Slack's unified communications platform should ultimately improve Salesforce's cloud services.
\n
Salesforce's stock price might not initially seem cheap at more than 50 times forward earnings, but that P/E ratio should contract after it fully integrates Slack and its profits rebound. In terms of revenue, it trades at less than eight times this year's sales, which makes it cheaper than many other cloud stocks.
\n
The bottom line
\n
Investors who can tune out the near-term noise should take a closer look at Juniper, Alphabet, and Salesforce. It can be tough for a company reportin","content":"
The company, however, faces tough year-over-year comparisons after growing same-store sales at a 1.3% clip one year ago.

\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html;
