One risk that traders are increasingly attuned to in equities is the chance they will rally in 2023.Wall Street strategists doubt it and investors are positioned against it, but certain pricing trends in derivatives show fewer traders are ruling it out after last year’s nearly 20% plunge in the S&P 500. The bets are far from the consensus — right now they’re pricing in a 1-in-5 chance the S&P 500 essentially reverses the decline in 2023, according to an analysis of implied volatility by Susquehanna International Group. But that’s a lot better odds than were being placed this time last year, when they stood at 1-in-20 for such an advance.Contributing to demand for bullish calls is the unusual success traders had with them last year, as swift bear-market rallies paid off for investors who almost universally cut equity exposure to the bone. That positioning minimized the need for downside protection leading to an unusual situation where buying puts failed to deliver big gains even as the S&P 500 sold off. To wit, the Cboe S&P 500 Risk Reversal Index (RXM) tracking a strategy of selling puts to buy a call was up 1.5% last year, while the Cboe S&P 500 5% Put Protection Index (PPUT), which follows a strategy that holds a long position on the equity gauge while buying puts as a hedge, lost 20%.The diverging performance reflected a brutal market where investors were even willing to pay up for bullish options, causing a rise in the relative costs of calls versus puts, a relationship known as skew.One way to understand skew, according to RBC Capital Markets’ strategist Amy Wu Silverman, is to think of it as “a representation of tail, the ‘thing’ we are most worried about,” she wrote in a note to clients on the weekend. “The ‘thing’ we are most worried about isn’t a down-crash but an up-crash.” That has kept call prices elevated versus puts, and might be why it stays that way “for a long, long time,” she said.So with stocks limping into 2023 and the Federal Reserve clear in its intention to keep rates elevated until inflation is well on the path lower, investors anticipating market turmoil are again paying up for options that capture upside if a rally breaks out, the analysis by Susquehanna showed.The S&P 500 fell 0.4% to 3,824 on Tuesday. As of Friday traders were assigning a 26% probability that the index would drop below 3,500. The odds climbed to almost 1-in-2 for a rise of almost 10% to above 4,200. For the S&P 500 to go back to or above its all-time high of 4,800, the odds were 14%.The pivot toward bullish options means investors can take advantage of the rich pricing, selling calls to fund protective puts, according to Christopher Jacobson, a strategist at Susquehanna.“While the current option implied likelihoods of various moves lower over the course of the year are pretty similar to how the same percentage moves looked at this time last year, the upside of the distribution is notably different now versus then,” he wrote in a note Tuesday. “While this may not necessarily be that surprising given last year’s declines, it has meaningful implications for option pricing/implied outcomes.”","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"QQQ":0.9,"SPY":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":951,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9987895033,"gmtCreate":1667866192622,"gmtModify":1676537975574,"author":{"id":"3581913988119713","authorId":"3581913988119713","name":"Roticanai","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4da10b7952b9a699e2c4703a67642740","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3581913988119713","idStr":"3581913988119713"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":13,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9987895033","repostId":"2281931196","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2281931196","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1667863966,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2281931196?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-11-08 07:32","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Lyft, Activision Blizzard, Take-Two Interactive and More: U.S. Stocks Trending After Hours","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2281931196","media":"Yahoo Finance","summary":"Lyft (LYFT): Lyft shares fell more than 14% in extended trading after the ride-hailing giant’s activ","content":"<html><head></head><body><p><b>Lyft (LYFT): </b>Lyft shares fell more than 14% in extended trading after the ride-hailing giant’s active riders for the third quarter missed estimates. The online travel company expects fourth-quarter revenue of low-single digit increases from 2019 levels.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"GRPN":0.6,"LYFT":1,"ATVI":1,"TRIP":0.9,"TTWO":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":661,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9950062769,"gmtCreate":1672623850151,"gmtModify":1676538712114,"author":{"id":"3581913988119713","authorId":"3581913988119713","name":"Roticanai","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4da10b7952b9a699e2c4703a67642740","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3581913988119713","idStr":"3581913988119713"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":16,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9950062769","repostId":"1105874821","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1105874821","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1672621372,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1105874821?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-01-02 09:02","market":"us","language":"en","title":"2022 Recap: Top 10 ETFs' Performance","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105874821","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Energy ETFs dominated 2022’s top funds.","content":"<html><head></head><body><p>Energy ETFs dominated 2022’s top funds. Although it may feel good to remain loyal to an organization in the hopes of a substantial turnaround, it’s time to let go of some of the weaker entities.Fundamentally, the Federal Reserve plays an incredibly significant role in the red ink. With the central bank raising the key benchmark interest rate, borrowing costs increased, thereby hurting risk-on sentiments. For instance, heading into the final day of trading in September, theS&P 500slipped 24% on a year-to-date basis. Therefore, it’s prudent to consider certain stocks to sell.In addition, InvestorPlace’s Louis Navellier probably said it best regarding troubled corporate entities. Essentially, their problems become your problems if you acquire their securities. The point about stocks to sell isn’t about “hating” on certain companies. Rather, you want to keep your portfolio drama free heading into a contentious October.Nike (NKE)Prior to the fiscal first-quarter earnings report for Nike(NYSE: NKE), I mentioned that Wall Street was waiting anxiously for the results. While the general consensus appeared pessimistic due to a range of macroeconomic headwinds impacting NKE, some analysts broadcasted optimism. Because Nike commanded a global branding powerhouse, some data points suggested that it could pull off a positive surprise.Unfortunately, those folks were wrong. According to theWall Street Journal, Nike reported that “inventories rose 44% to $9.7 billion in the latest quarter.” In addition, “higher discounts and freight costs squeezed profit margins.” Further, Nike executives mentioned that they had to mark down more goods heading into the holidays.In the open market following the Sept. 29 disclosure, NKE finished the day down 3.4%. However, in the afterhours session, it slipped nearly 9%. Frankly, it might be time to call the athletic apparel giant one of the top stocks to sell.If any company could have beat the discretionary consumer sector blues, it was Nike. It failed. It’s time to face reality.Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF)One of the most popular apparel companies in the 1990s and 2000s, Abercrombie & Fitch(NYSE:ANF) long tied in to youth culture. Before digitalization took over everything, the cool kids wore Abercrombie & Fitch. Today, the younger folks, including those in Generation Z, don’t really care about name brands. As this demographic grew older, young adult consumer behaviors shifted.Unfortunately, it shifted in the wrong direction for Abercrombie & Fitch. Over the trailing five years, ANF only gained a bit under 7%. Since the start of this year, shares hemorrhaged 56% of market value. Circumstances will likely worsen for ANF moving forward.In late August, the company stated “it lost $16.83 million, or 33 cents a share, in its second quarter, compared to a net income of $108.5 million, or $1.69 a share, in the year-ago quarter,” according to MarketWatch.Now that almighty Nike struggled to resonate with hard-hit consumers, it’s probably time to consider ANF as one of the stocks to sell, as well.Lyft (LYFT)Although companies like Lyft(NASDAQ:LYFT) helped spark the ride-sharing revolution, the underlying industry is presenting us with worrying vulnerabilities. Honestly, the phenomenon must be driving urban survivalists crazy. After all, using an app as a trust mechanism for someone you don’t know presents incredible security issues. Sadly, we’re finding this out now with Lyft.According to NPR, Lyft faces “17 new lawsuits brought by users of its service from around the country, who claim the company failed to protect passengers and drivers from physical and [prurient] assault.” You can read the details yourself but the main point is that ride sharing presents risks. The lawsuits represent a significant reason to consider LYFT as one of the stocks to sell.The other stems from rival Uber(NYSE:UBER). While Uber features a far more aggressive financial profile than Lyft – retained earnings loss for Uber is$32 billion versus $8.9 billion for Lyft – the former’s expansionary efforts could effectively monopolize the ride-sharing business. Therefore, LYFT risks relevance loss, making it one of the candidates for stocks to sell.Tanger Factory Outlet (SKT)A shopping center-focused real estate investment trust (or REIT), Tanger Factory Outlet(NYSE:SKT) represents an idea for stocks to sell that I’m borrowing fromInvestorPlacecontributor Ian Bezek. As Bezek mentioned, Tanger’s business model featured extraordinary relevance about two decades ago.Operators in the shopping center category “would build a major shopping destination in a tourist area or along a major highway in between two big cities. People would go to the outlet center and get bargains that weren’t available at shopping malls or in downtown shopping areas. The thinking was that outlets gave retailers an alternative venue to clear out certain kinds of products, while giving shoppers a fun and novel bargain-hunting experience,” mentioned Bezek.Unfortunately, Bezek stated that Tanger’s “financial results were poor prior to the pandemic.” With the crisis, circumstances worsened. Thus, the analyst rated the long-term prognosis as “grim.”For me, the retained earnings line item presents significant concerns. In 2019, this metric saw a loss of $317 million. In the trailing-12-month basis, it’s down $483 million. Thus, SKT could be one of the stocks to sell.Redfin (RDFN)Throughout this year, the real estate market and its broader price trajectory sparked much debate. With theFed committed to raising the benchmark interest rate, prices fundamentally seem on their way down. It’s just simple math: put barriers to affordability to prospective buyers and demand diminishes. Therefore, I believe it makes perfect sense to consider Redfin(NASDAQ:RDFN) as one of the stocks to sell.Before discussing this and other stocks to sell in the housing sector, I must disclose my bias. Every time I saw real estate experts talk about housing prices moving even higher, I kept yelling a certain word. It begins with “B” and ends with “T.” In fact, I laid out my case earlier this year for a possible recession on the horizon.As mentioned earlier, the fundamental problem with real estate brokerage services such as Redfin is the math. As affordability metrics become further constrained for more people, the price of assets must decline to reflect reality. The problem for RDFN is that it may still be financially problematic, making it one of the stocks to sell.KB Home (KBH)Among several market ideas to acquire during the heyday of 2021, homebuilding firm KB Home(NYSE:KBH) now arguably represents one of the top stocks to sell. Prior to the heightened interest rate environment, many folks talked about a housing unit shortage. Therefore, the easy solution appeared to be that homebuilders should simply build more homes.However, I argued that the idea of a housing shortage represented a myth. Long story short, just because the U.S. has more people does not mean it has more qualified homebuyers. For instance, married couples represent a major catalyst for homebuying incentivization. However, the ratio of married couples to housing units has been stable (and adequate) for several years.Recently, KB Home disclosed its fiscal third-quarter earnings report. It beat on earnings expectations but missed against revenue. Still, I believe the more important stat is days inventory. This figure stood at nearly 382 in fiscal Q3, up 7.5% year-over-year.KBH is one of the stocks to sell.Opendoor (OPEN)At first glance, the iBuyer model for Opendoor(NASDAQ:OPEN) seemed incredibly attractive. Essentially, the company makes instant cash offers on homes through an online process. By doing so, the process of selling real estate is much quicker and more convenient. The implication undergirding OPEN stock was that the model could eventually do away with the cumbersome nature of home-related transactions.But then, nobody seemed to ask the obvious question: why would anyone want real estate transactions to be quicker and more convenient? You’re not upgrading your smartphone. Rather, you’re buying a home, which is typically the most expensive purchase for the average person. Therefore, you want to make sure that every relevant party to the transaction does their job appropriately. If it takes some time, so what? You don’t want to make a mistake here.Turns out, another reason to consider OPEN as one of the stocks to sell is the lack of viability. Recently, a report revealed that Opendoorlost money on 42% of transactions in August. That’s startling because the company obviously doesn’t offer top dollar for what is essentially a home-flipping service. So, buyer beware.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"LYFT":0.9,"RDFN":0.9,"NKE":0.9,"OPEN":0.9,"SKT":0.9,"KBH":0.9,"ANF":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":541,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9987541513,"gmtCreate":1667954235332,"gmtModify":1676537989160,"author":{"id":"3581913988119713","authorId":"3581913988119713","name":"Roticanai","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4da10b7952b9a699e2c4703a67642740","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3581913988119713","idStr":"3581913988119713"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":11,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9987541513","repostId":"2282951949","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2282951949","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1667950541,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2282951949?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-11-09 07:35","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Disney, AMC, Affirm, and More: Top Trending Stocks After Hours","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2282951949","media":"Yahoo Finance","summary":"Disney (DIS): Despite reporting record full-year sales, Disney shares fell 6% in extended trading af","content":"<html><head></head><body><p><b>Disney (DIS):</b> Despite reporting record full-year sales, Disney shares fell 6% in extended trading after missing on both the top and bottom lines in its fiscal fourth quarter. Despite the tournament’s controversial location, the soccer (or as it is known by the rest of the world, football) extravaganza is expected to draw an audience of billions who will tune in to watch icons such as Lionel Messi, Christiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe attempt to get their hands on the Jules Rimet trophy and write their names and their countries’ fellow representatives into history.Just for context, the previous 2018 World Cup saw an audience of over 3.6 billion people watch matches, with the final drawing 1.12 billion viewers – that’s more than 5x above the viewing figures for the 2022 Super Bowl.Such a global happening is bound to have commercial implications and could be advantageous to certain categories. To which ones exactly? Streaming platforms, online betting, soccer video games, digital advertising and sporting goods/apparel, all come readily to mind as segments which could benefit.With this in mind, we delved into the TipRanks database and pulled up two names which could get a boost from this global sporting festival. Let’s kick off.Electronic Arts (EA)Attempting to emulate the skills of global sports gods is a favorite pastime for gamers and the first stock will look at is an expert at providing such thrills. Electronic Arts is one of the video gaming space’s titans and a home computer gaming trailblazer.Specifically relating to the World Cup, its EA Sports titles include the FIFA soccer game in addition to titles such as NBA Live, Madden NFL, and NHL. The portfolio, however, extends beyond just sports titles, and includes some of gaming’s most well-known brands like Apex Legends, Battlefield, Need for Speed, and Plants vs. Zombies, amongst others.After benefiting immensely from the work-from-home trend during the pandemic, the reopening and then the economic downturn have been headwinds for the gaming industry as sales have cooled down in 2022.As such, EA’s latest quarterly report, for the second fiscal quarter (September quarter) was a mixed affair. Net bookings fell by 5.4% year-over-year to $1.75 billion, missing the Street’s forecast by $30 million, while the company also lowered its FY 2023 net bookings outlook from the range between $7.90 billion to $8.10 billion to the range between $7.65 billion and $7.85 billion. The Street’s forecast stood at $7.97 billion.However, the company beat expectations on the bottom-line with EPS of $1.07 coming in ahead of the $1.00 consensus estimate. Moreover, the company raised its FY 2023 EPS forecast to around $3.11-$3.34 from the prior guidance of $2.79-$2.87.Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter makes note of the strong performance in the current quarter from the game which stands to benefit the most from the World Cup.“FIFA is off to a record start so far this quarter, and the company announced several initiatives to drive Ultimate Team engagement as the tournament progresses over the remainder of the quarter,” the analyst said. “We’re confident in EA’s ability to grow the franchise in a World Cup year, and especially confident in its ability to grow this quarter, which is historically strong on its own… We continue to believe that the video game industry is undervalued, having historically traded at a significant premium to the market multiple.”To this end, Pachter rates EA shares an Outperform (i.e. Buy) while his $164 price target makes room for 12-month gains of 25%.Looking at the consensus breakdown, based on 9 Buy ratings vs. 4 Holds, EA receives a Moderate Buy consensus rating.fuboTV (FUBO)Let’s now look at a stock that stands to benefit in a different way from the World Cup. FuboTV is a streaming platform, and one that is mainly focused on sports.In fact, upon its launch in 2015, the streaming service was focused solely on soccer, but in 2017 changed tack to become an all-sports service and later, targeting the cord-cutting trend morphed into a virtual multichannel video programming distributor (vMVPD) model offering also non-sports programs. That said, sports remain the main focal point and depending on region (the service is available in the U.S., Canada and Spain), subscribers can watch EPL, NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, MLS, CPL games as well as international football.Those subscribers have been growing with each quarter as was the case again in Q3. North American subscribers rose by 31% year-over-year to a record 1,231,000, while international subs reached 358,000. All this helped the company generate revenue of $225 million, above the $213 million expected on Wall Street.Ongoing growth aside, the problem for FUBO has been one of profitability – or lack thereof – a situation the company hopes to fix by 2025. While the continued losses, along with other issues such as rising competition and the effects of inflation are worries for Wedbush’s Michael Pachter, the analyst believes the fact FUBO raised its revenue and subscriber outlook when it released the Q3 metrics is indicative of how the company can make headway on account of the games.“We think management’s confidence around Q4 results in due in part to increased political advertising, as well as the anticipated uptick in subscribers driven by the upcoming World Cup, which fuboTV will uniquely be broadcasting in 4K,” Pachter explained. “Given the upside and downside risk, we think the current share price affords a compelling entry point.”To this end, Pachter has an Outperform (i.e. Buy) rating for FUBO shares, backed by a $5 price target. There’s plenty of upsides – 80% to be exact – should the target be met over the next 12 months.Overall, with 3 Buy and Hold ratings, each, the stock claims a Moderate Buy consensus view.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"EA":0.9,"FUBO":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":563,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
