Negative Covid headlines are picking up in velocity. Issuance spigots are fully turned on and this paper is getting harder to place from my seat (after some choppy px action related to issuance last week).\n
\n
\n 99% of S&P500 companies are in buyback blackout period into next week and quant flows remain asymmetric on the supply side (AKA CTA sellers will win this tug of war).Earnings last week were great but were not rewarded (banks)...this week and next are the 2 busiest weeks of the earnings period.\n
\n
\n Overall market breadth continues to dissipate with FAAMG complex carrying the weight of the indices on its back. July has not been a fun month for the retail community (underlying retail bid is fading). HF length has recently come in significantly on a 1 year look back but on a 3 year basis is well above 50th percentile for both nets and grosses (still more wood to chop here). Institutional community continues to cut risk in China ADR’s post DIDI development while U.S. / China tensions rise. All eyes remain 10yr yields well below 200dma of 1.26 for first time in 2021. No need to hit the panic button but I plan on being patient with buy tickets over the next several sessions.\n
\n
And here are the 10 keybearishdevelopments Flood is monitoring:
\n
1) Covid headlines over the weekend were the most negative that I have seen in 2021. Negative Covid headlines are picking up in velocity. Issuance spigots are fully turned on and this paper is getting harder to place from my seat (after some choppy px action related to issuance last week).\n\n\n99% of S&P500 companies are in buyback blackout period into next week and quant flows remain asymmetric on the supply side (AKA CTA sellers will win this tug of war).Earnings last week were great but were not rewarded (banks)...this week and next are the 2 busiest weeks of the earnings period.\n\n\n Overall market breadth continues to dissipate with FAAMG complex carrying the weight of the indices on its back. No need to hit the panic button but I plan on being patient with buy tickets over the next several sessions.\n\nAnd here are the 10 keybearishdevelopments Flood is monitoring:\n1) Covid headlines over the weekend were the most negative that I have seen in 2021. Just because a lot of people on Reddit or another online community like a stock doesn't necessarily mean it's a smart long-term pick.
\n
However, that doesn't mean at all that online groups don't have some good ideas that investors should check out. Here are three popular Reddit stocks that I'd buy right now without any hesitation.
\n
Apple
\n
A lot of Reddit users really like Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL). That's not surprising considering how popular Apple's products are and that it happens to be the biggest company in the world based on market cap. I've owned Apple for longer than any other stock in my personal investment portfolio. I still think the tech stock is a great pick to buy.
\n
Some of the stocks that online investors cheer are speculative, but not Apple. It's highly profitable. Sales continue to soar. The company sits atop a massive cash stockpile.
\n
High-speed 5G wireless networks are driving demand for Apple's newest iPhones. As more people buy iPhones, it creates bigger opportunities for the rest of the company's ecosystem, including apps, Airpods, and more.
\n
I think the long-term prospects for Apple also remain bright. The company's next big thing, according to CEO Tim Cook, is augmented reality (AR). Look for Apple to roll out new AR devices over the next few years that fuel continued growth.
\n
Airbnb
\n
Few, if any, companies have transformed the travel industry as much as Airbnb (NASDAQ:ABNB) has over the last decade. The company's initial public offering (IPO) ranked as the biggest last year. Even though the initial gains for the home-sharing stock have largely fizzled out, it makes sense that Reddit users still think highly of Airbnb.
\n
To be sure, the company faced some hefty challenges with the global pandemic. And Airbnb isn't totally out of the woods just yet with many parts of the world still dealing with large numbers of COVID-19 cases. The good news, though, is that the increased availability of vaccines has helped turn the tide in a major way in the U.S.
\n
Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said in the company's Q1 update, \"We expect the return of urban and cross-border travel to be significant tailwinds over the coming quarters.\" I suspect this trend will translate to a solid rebound in Airbnb's share price.
\n
Over the longer term, the rise of remote work seems likely to boost demand for Airbnb's home-sharing services. My view is that we'll see a marked increase in profitability as the company scales up its business. Reddit users appear to be right on the money with Airbnb.
\n
NVIDIA
\n
NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) stands out as another popular Reddit stock that I'm excited about. The company's graphics processing units (GPUs) remain the gold standard for gaming and data centers and have carved out a place in cryptocurrency mining as well.
\n
In just a month or so, NVIDIA will conduct a four-for-one stock split. Granted, this won't change the real value of the company's underlying business one bit. However, the lower share price could make the stock even more attractive to retail investors (which is what NVIDIA is counting on).
\n
The main reasons to buy NVIDIA stock right now relate to its business and not the stock split. New games require more processing power, which gives NVIDIA a perpetual upgrade cycle. It's a similar story with data centers, with increased use of artificial intelligence driving the demand for faster chips.
\n
NVIDIA has established itself as one of the leaders in developing a platform for self-driving cars. It's also launching Omniverse -- a platform for developers and engineers to create virtual worlds that can be used to simulate factories and other parts of the physical world and foster virtual collaboration. I think these two markets could potentially be explosive for NVIDIA over the next decade and beyond.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Reddit Stocks I'd Buy Right Now Without Any Hesitation
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Reddit Stocks I'd Buy Right Now Without Any Hesitation\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-14 22:16 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The wisdom of crowds can sometimes turn into the mistakes of the masses. What everybody wants to know is whether the panel finally has gotten around to talking about talking about moving away from its ubereasy monetary policy.
\n
We all know that the FOMC won’t take any substantive steps in terms of its massive securities purchases, which are still running at $120 billion a month. As for its key federal-funds rate target, that’s stuck at 0% to 0.25% (although there’s an outside chance of technical tweaking of some other Fed-administered rates to address the billions in excess cash sloshing around in the money markets).
\n
We’ll be looking for what’s in the FOMC’s formal policy statement and the panel’s updated Summary of Economic Projections, which will include the amalgam of the committee members’ guesses on key economic gauges, such as gross domestic product, inflation, and unemployment. Most likely, when that is posted on the Fed’s website at 2 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Wednesday, most folks will probably head straight for the FOMC’s guesses on the fed-funds rate, and specifically when liftoff from near-zero is finally expected.
\n
The “dot plot”—or graph of the FOMC members’ consensus guesses—puts the first hike all the way out past 2023. That seems a very long-term forecast, and as John Maynard Keynes famously pointed out, in the long run we’re all dead. Some Fed watchers, such as J.P. Morgan’s chief U.S. economist, Michael Feroli, look for the dots to show a 2023 liftoff.
\n
The markets, however, already had been pricing in one or more fed-funds rate hikes by 2023. But concurrent with the previously discussed slide in longer-term bond yields, the interest-rate futures markets have effectively priced out one of those short-term rate increases. In addition, the derivatives market now sees the fed-funds rate peaking under 2%, some 0.4 of a percentage point lower than what it had priced in earlier this year, according to analysts for Natixis.
\n
Long before making any rate hikes, the Fed will begin to lessen its accommodation by slowing its current pace of securities purchases, which consist of $80 billion of Treasuries and $40 billion of agency mortgage-backed securities every month. The trillions that the Federal Reserve and other central banks have created have gone a long way to boost the values of assets, which rose by $5 trillion, to $136.9 trillion, in the first quarter, according to new Fed data released this past week. That includes a $3.2 trillion rise in the value of equities owned by households and a $968 billion rise in their real estate holdings.
\n
The key criterion for reduced Fed accommodation is whether the monetary authorities see “substantial further progress” toward reaching what they deem as maximum employment, probably a deliberately ambiguous standard.
\n
But the increase in payrolls appears to be constrained as much by the supply of labor as businesses’ desire to hire. The latest Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey, or Jolts, showed a record 9.3 million unfilled openings in April. In addition, 384,000 people left their positions that month, bringing the total of voluntary job quitters to a record four million.
\n
Anecdotal evidence, including some in the Fed’s beige book summary of economic conditions prepared for the coming meeting, suggests that employers aren’t finding enough workers because of generous unemployment compensation. Unusual for a social science such as economics, there will be a real-time experiment to test this hypothesis as 25 states end the extra $300 weekly payment early.
\n
Jefferies economists Aneta Markowska and Thomas Simons write in a research note that these 25 states account for about a quarter of all the unemployed workers. Ending their extra jobless benefits could boost employment by roughly two million in the next few months, they estimate. Another growth spurt should follow in September and October after the extra unemployment insurance expires in the remaining states; schools reopen—providing free daycare for some would-be workers, especially women; and many office employees return to their desks, they add.
\n
At that point, the Fed might start talking about actually reducing its massive securities purchases. Given the “taper tantrum” thrown by the markets when the central bank slowed its bond buying in 2013, this Fed will want to disclose how, when, and how fast it plans to slow its pour into the punch bowl. But, by the close of trading Thursday, anyone who had bought and held shares after Monday’s pop was now underwater.\n\n“I can’t imagine this is going to continue in the same form or fashion for much longer,” said Barry Schwartz, chief investment officer at Baskin Wealth Management. “Just because something is shorted doesn’t mean buying it is going to work out for you,” he added. “You’re playing with fire.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":403,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":185632465,"gmtCreate":1623645339357,"gmtModify":1704207726230,"author":{"id":"3581916785611869","authorId":"3581916785611869","name":"HR168","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/356e8960c8bfee1a1e833ae1f39e0cc1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581916785611869","authorIdStr":"3581916785611869"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Earning money from the one who bought after the rise","listText":"Earning money from the one who bought after the rise","text":"Earning money from the one who bought after the rise","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/185632465","repostId":"1105297799","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":72,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":185869058,"gmtCreate":1623641485674,"gmtModify":1704207622171,"author":{"id":"3581916785611869","authorId":"3581916785611869","name":"HR168","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/356e8960c8bfee1a1e833ae1f39e0cc1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581916785611869","authorIdStr":"3581916785611869"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"He earned a lot in a tweet ","listText":"He earned a lot in a tweet ","text":"He earned a lot in a tweet","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/185869058","repostId":"1132051258","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1132051258","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623625464,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1132051258?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-14 07:04","market":"fut","language":"en","title":"Musk says Tesla will accept bitcoin again as crypto miners use more clean energy","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1132051258","media":"CNBC","summary":"Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday said the company will resume bitcoin transactions once it confirms there is reasonable clean energy usage by miners.“When there’s confirmation of reasonable clean energy usage by miners with positive future trend, Tesla will resume allowing Bitcoin transactions,” Musk wrote in a tweet. The electric-car maker halted car purchases with bitcoin in mid-May due to concerns over how mining contributes to climate change.Musk was reacting to comments from Magda Wierzycka, C","content":"
\n
KEY POINTS\n\nTesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday said the company will resume bitcoin transactions once it confirms there is reasonable clean energy usage by miners.\n“When there’s confirmation of reasonable ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; During the first quarter,Tesla sold $272 million worth of “digital assets,”which helped it reduce operating losses by $101 million, the company revealed in its earnings statement.\nMusk’s comments on social media about cryptocurrency often send prices soaring or plummeting, but appeared to have little effect Sunday. Bitcoin was trading around $37,442, according to Coindesk, at around 2:30 pm ET, up more than 4% on the day.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":130,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":9005339111,"gmtCreate":1642170038481,"gmtModify":1676533688627,"author":{"id":"3581916785611869","authorId":"3581916785611869","name":"HR168","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/356e8960c8bfee1a1e833ae1f39e0cc1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581916785611869","authorIdStr":"3581916785611869"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$with the current fed action + covid waves, I think it is very likely the price will drop further. Other HomeKit-enabled gadgets include air conditioners, video cameras, motion sensors, doorbells and lights.\nFor Apple, this strategy aims to position iPhone and Apple Watch as controllers for a wide variety of in-home functions, making them more valuable to current customers and discouraging them from switching to an Android phone when it is time to upgrade. Apple's smart home strategy could also boost Apple TV or HomePod sales, as these devices can be used as the smart home's hub.\n'Hey Siri' comes home\nPerhaps the biggest smart home announcement at WWDC for iOS 15, which will be released this fall, is that Apple said it planned to open up Siri, its voice assistant, to work with third-party smart home gadgets such asEcobee's Smart Thermostatlater this year. Soon, users will be able to say \"Hey Siri\" to non-Apple gadgets — matching an ability thatGoogle's Assistant andAmazonAlexa were already capable of.\n\"While we don't believe that Siri is a major reason why people buy Apple products, we do believe that the expansion of Siri into third-party devices could help drive the use of Siri and help support Apple's push into the smart home market,\" Deutsche Bank analyst Sidney Ho wrote in a note this week.\nThrough a supported third-party device such as the Smart Thermostat, users will be able to call Siri and send messages, add reminders, and even use family members' iPhones, Apple Watches and HomePods as an intercom.\nThere is one catch, though — the feature requires a HomePod or HomePod mini. Essentially, the third-party Siri gadget passes messages to the HomePod for processing.\nApple will also allow users to unlock their front door or garage with their iPhone — if the user has a compatible smart lock installed. While Apple didn't announce any devices this week, it did display a slide that said that top lock vendors such as Schlage and Aqara will support the feature.\nThere were also smaller, more incremental updates that users will appreciate. HomeKit can use Siri to schedule events, such as turning on smart lights every day at 7 a.m. Cameras can identify when a package has been delivered. Users can monitor HomeKit cameras on an Apple TV in full-screen mode and easily turn on lights or activate other gadgets in the scene.\nMost intriguingly, Apple has started to bundle one of the key smart home features as a paid service. Cameras are one of the most important smart home gadgets, and Apple is relying heavily on its privacy pitch to stand out against competitors such as Amazon's Ring, noting that it stores the raw footage in an encrypted, private way on iCloud called HomeKit Secure Video.\nTo get the most out of this feature, users will be required to subscribe to the upper-end iCloud service, which costs $9.99 per month for 2TB of storage. And, unlike Amazon, Apple does not make its own smart cameras, but relies on partners such as Logitech.\nFor the 50 third-party hardware makerswho support these features, HomeKit allows them reach a generally wealthy group of consumers without having to do a lot of the hard technical legwork to enable basic functionality. But it also means that they have to participate inApple's MFi accessory program, which means that Apple can exercise some control over what they launch through the program contract.\nApplesaid this week that it is backing Matter, a standard that is designed to allow smart home gadgets to work together, and Apple said it contributed some open-source HomeKit code. Amazon, Google and Samsung are also participating in the standard.\nIn a video session Thursday, Apple engineers said the goal for Matter is to ensure that smart home devices remain compatible for years to come and to make it easier to develop new gadgets and apps. For developers, HomeKit code will work with Matter without any changes required, Apple said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":35,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":185236307,"gmtCreate":1623651464409,"gmtModify":1704207857538,"author":{"id":"3581916785611869","authorId":"3581916785611869","name":"HR168","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/356e8960c8bfee1a1e833ae1f39e0cc1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581916785611869","authorIdStr":"3581916785611869"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Buy buy ","listText":"Buy buy ","text":"Buy buy","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/185236307","repostId":"1105297799","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":403,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":186924037,"gmtCreate":1623470429429,"gmtModify":1704204548222,"author":{"id":"3581916785611869","authorId":"3581916785611869","name":"HR168","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/356e8960c8bfee1a1e833ae1f39e0cc1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581916785611869","authorIdStr":"3581916785611869"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Crypto problem is can’t be used in real life ","listText":"Crypto problem is can’t be used in real life ","text":"Crypto problem is can’t be used in real life","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/186924037","repostId":"1133871419","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1133871419","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623469680,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1133871419?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-12 11:48","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Five Charts That Show How Much the Crypto Space Just Slowed Down","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1133871419","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"There have been a lot of crypto headlines lately, from Miami to El Salvador. Although the central bank is not expected to take any action, it could make tweaks to its forecasts for interest rates and inflation that market pros say could be market moving.\nStocks meandered Friday and theS&P 500finished at a new high, garnering a 0.4% gain for the week.\n“Markets have to get past Wednesday before anyone makes huge bets,” said Scott Redler, chief strategic officer at T3Live.com. “It’s really that the Street’s looking at the next big obstacle — which is the Fed.”\nThe market is attuned to any discussion about the central bank’s bond-buying program. The program was initiated during the pandemic to provide liquidity to the markets and keep interest rates low. TheFed is widely expected to acknowledgeit will start tapering back on that so-called quantitative easing program later this year.\nOnce the central bank signals it will cut back on its $120 billion monthly bond purchases, it is basically signaling a major shift in its policy from easing to tightening. The Fed is expected to signal a taper well before it takes any action, and its own forecast for interest rates does not show any increases through 2023.\nFed Chairman Jerome Powell briefs journalists after the central bank issues its statement at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday. He is expected to sound dovish and assure markets the Fed’s policy will remain easy .\n“Let’s say for some reason Powell intimates tapering could happen late this year, not just talk about it but do it,” said Mike Schumacher, head of rate strategy at Wells Fargo. “That would spook the market, or if we get a big increase in inflation projections that would get the markets a little spooked.”\nEconomic calendar\nThere are a few economic reports worth watching, particularlyTuesday’s retail sales for Mayand theproducer price index— a look at producer level inflation.\nThe Federal Reserve will also release itsindustrial production index data, which measures production and capacity in manufacturing, mining and other industries, on Tuesday.\n“Essentially, I think nominal retail sales might be strong,” said Aneta Markowska, chief financial economist at Jefferies. “I just think the only thing that thing the market cares about right now is employment because that’s the only thing that can move the needle on the Fed.”\nThemarkets this past week shrugged off a super hot consumer inflation readingfor May, reported Thursday. Economists said the 5% jump in the consumer price index appears to be a temporary reaction to the reopening economy, supply chain disruptions and pent-up demand. But they also said it will take a few more reports to make sure it is not more persistent than the Fed currently expects.\nThe central bank has said it expects inflation to be high for a short period before falling back down, closer to 2%. The Fed will likely raise its forecast of2.2% for this year, given the jump in recent inflation readings.\nIt also predicts that core inflation, as measured by thepersonal consumption expenditures price index, will be at 2% in 2022 and 2.1% in 2023.\nWells Fargo’s Schumacher said he is closely watching that inflation forecast, particularly for 2023. According to the Fed’s interest rate forecast, that is also the first time a group of central bank officials see the potential for an increase in the fed funds target rate.\nSo if inflation is higher in their view, the outlook for interest rates could be as well. That could move forward the forecast for the first rate hike, now forecast by a majority of the Fed in 2024.\n“If that number goes up a tenth, that’s a non-event. If it goes up 0.3, it’s a lot in terms of the way the Fed looks at the world,” Schumacher said. The Fed has said it would tolerate inflation above its 2% target for a period of time before it acts.\nMarkowska of Jefferies doubts the Fed rate forecast will shift. The forecast is presented in a so-called “dot plot” with anonymous entries from central bank officials.\nShe noted in March, Federal Open Market Committee participants weresplit 11 to 7 against a 2023 hike, which means three officials would have to change their mind in order to move the median forecast.\n“My base case is it won’t move,” she said. “I just feel like there hasn’t been enough definitive change in the data to really change the Fed’s forecast. Having said that, you just need three people to change their mind. Even if that median forecast goes up, Powell is just going to downplay it during the press conference.”\nShe pointed to thedisappointing May employment report, which showed 559,000 jobs were added, 100,000 less than expected.\nWatch bonds\nStocks finished the past week mixed, with theDowdown 0.8% at 34,479, and theS&P 500eking out a gain of 0.4% to finish the week at a record 4,247. TheNasdaq, boosted by tech, gained nearly 1.9% to reach 14,069. Meanwhile the small-capRussell 2000outperformed the other indices, increasing by 2.2% for the week and landing at 2,335.\nREITs were the best performing major sector for the week, up 2%, followed by the health care sector’s 1.9% gain. Consumer discretionary stocks rose 1.6%. Tech climbed 1.4%, helped by a decline in interest rates.\nBut the financial sector lost 2.4% as interest rates fell, and it was the worst performing sector this week. Financials fell with other cyclicals, like materials, off 2% for the week and industrials off 1.7%.\nMeme stocks remained in the headlinesand continued to trade with a high level of volatility.GameStophit a high of $344.66 Tuesday and dropped as low as $206.13 Friday before closing at $233.34 per share.\nBesides the wild ride by meme stocks in the past week, the market to watch was Treasurys, as yields took a surprising slide. There was a fairly dramatic move in the rate of the benchmark10-year,watched most closely by investors, as it influences mortgages and other important lending rates.\nThe 10-year Treasury yield dipped under 1.43% on Friday. Yields move opposite price, so the move downward represented a buying surge.\n“I feel like this entire move in Treasurys is technical and has nothing to do with fundamentals,” said Jefferies’ Markowska. She said institutions are finding super low yields in Treasury bills and the overnight rates markets. “There’s just an excess of cash that is spilling out to the longer maturities,” she said. “People are still very short.”\nMarkowska said the weaker than expected May jobs report spurred buying that forced some short investors, who bet on higher yields, to cover those positions as rates fell.\nThe fall in the 10-year yield, which hit a high of 1.75% in late March, has been a positive for stocks. It also hasdrawn some stock investors to tech and growth sectors, which had fallen out of favor.\n“Most people in the market will tell you yields will rise significantly at some point. The question is when,” said Schumacher. Many forecasters expect the 10-year yield to reach 2% by the end of the year.\nFinally, investors will also be watching headlines from President Joe Biden’s trip to the U.K. and Europe, where he is attending the G-7 and a meeting with NATO allies.
