Apple will debut the chip in a new Mac computer called Mac Studio, which will be aimed at professionals and start at $3,999 with the M1 Ultra, which would make it the most expensive Mac that comes with an Apple-designed chip.

The M1 Ultra announcement "will extend the competitive narrative of Apple's silicon capabilities," Wells Fargo analyst Aaron Rakers wrote.

Apple's top-of-the-line Mac has been the Mac Pro, which starts at $5,999 but has not been refreshed since Apple started its silicon effort in late 2020; Apple stated that the Mac Studio with M1 Ultra will be capable of speeds 90% faster than the Mac Pro.

Hardware executive Johny Srouji said in Tuesday's event that the Mac Pro is last in line for an upgrade, but "that is for another day."

Apple has seen a surge in Mac sales since moving to its own silicon late in 2020, and the M1 Ultra is the latest in a line of chips that also include the M1 Pro and M1 Max. The higher-end Mac Studio will have both an M1 Max and an M1 Ultra, though versions with just an M1 Max will cost less, starting at $1,999.

"It's remarkable to think about the profound impact Apple silicon is having on the Mac and our other products," Chief Executive Tim Cook said during the presentation.

The Mac Studio was introduced alongside a new high-tech Apple monitor called the Studio Display, a 27" 5K Retina display that will start at $1,599 for typical U.S. consumers. Apple also revealed a refreshed keyboard, trackpad and mouse, which will cost $199, $149 and $99 respectively. At the starting prices, a full Mac Studio setup -- with an M1 Ultra-powered Mac Studio, Studio Display and the new peripherals announced Tuesday -- would cost roughly $6,000.

The new iPhone SE will have Apple's A15 Bionic chip, the same one that's featured in the iPhone 13. The chip promises performance improvements as it speeds up processing and battery efficiency.

Apple is also introducing 5G to the iPhone SE line for the first time, after bringing this connectivity to its main iPhone line back in late 2020. The iPhone SE is Apple's lower-cost iPhone.

The phone has a glass and aluminum design and a 4.7-inch display. It will come in three color options: midnight, starlight, and red. Unlike other iPhones, the iPhone SE will have a fingerprint sensor.

The starting price is $429, a slight bump from the $399 starting price on the last iPhone SE, and preorders will kick off Friday. The device officially becomes available March 18.

"Overall, with the A15 chip this smartphone will be the fastest and most powerful phone at these price points by a wide margin and we believe based on our initial supply chain checks should translate into 30 million+ iPhone units out of the gates for this product launch," Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives wrote.

He highlighted Apple's willingness to push ahead with new product launches at a time when the consumer electronics industry is dealing with supply constraints, a dynamic he saw as reflective of the smartphone giant's "massive supply chain/production muscles."

The company also announced a new iPad Air model, which will feature the company's M1 chip as well as the option for 5G connectivity.

Apple is bringing a 12-megapixel camera to the front of the iPad Air, which will have a $599 starting price and feature 64GB and 256GB storage options. As with the iPhone SE, users will be able to preorder the device starting Friday before it becomes available March 18.

Apple is also adding new green color options for its iPhone 13 and 13 Pro models.

Additionally, Cook announced that Apple has secured broadcasting rights for Major League Baseball, though the professional baseball league is currently in a labor lockout that is expected to delay the beginning of the season. Big Tech companies have been trying to secure sports-broadcasting rights, with Alphabet Inc.'s $(GOOGL)$(GOOGL) YouTube broadcasting select MLB games last season and Amazon.com Inc. $(AMZN)$ broadcasting the National Football League's Thursday Night Football offering last season.

Apple was reportedly bidding for a package of weekday MLB games earlier this year, after The Walt Disney Co.'s $(DIS)$ ESPN decided to not broadcast games on weekdays in a new deal with the league.

With that in mind, here's why a panel of Motley Fool contributors identified Amazon , Vertex Pharmaceuticals , and CrowdStrike Holdings as unstoppable businesses that are primed to deliver big wins for shareholders.

Amazon is finally a good value

Daniel Foelber Amazon : One look at an Amazon stock chart, and you realize how brutal the stock market can be in the short term. Amazon stock is down 8% year to date, which is better than the Nasdaq Composite and many other big tech stocks. But it's worth mentioning that Amazon is down despite posting blowout fourth-quarter 2021 and full-year 2021 results.

When the market is bleeding red, valuation, long-term growth, and fundamentals matter more than ever. And Amazon has these qualities in spades.

Gone are the days of Amazon's lofty valuation. It raked in a staggering $469.8 billion in 2021 revenue and $33.4 billion in net income, giving it a price-to-sales (P/S) ratio of 3.3 and a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 47 -- which is the lowest P/E ratio Amazon has had since 2009. Amazon continues to reinvest in the business. If it were to reel in its spending, it could easily open the tap and generate even more profit.

Arguably the most impressive aspect of Amazon's business is Amazon Web Services (AWS), which is the company's cloud computing segment. AWS brought in $62.2 billion in 2021 sales and $18.5 billion in operating income, giving it an operating margin of 30%.

But here's the real kicker -- AWS made up just 13% of Amazon's 2021 revenue but 74% of its operating income. Put another way, AWS is a cash cow that is funding Amazon's other investments. Throw in a steadily growing core retail business, which is low-margin and high-volume, and you have a one-two punch built to outlast a market crash.

Out of the seven largest Nasdaq components, Amazon is the only one that underperformed the Nasdaq between 2019 and the end of 2021. Given the emphasis on profit and value in today's rising-interest-rate environment, it wouldn't surprise me if Amazon beat the Nasdaq in 2022 and beyond.

There's pharma opportunity beyond COVID-19

James Brumley Vertex Pharmaceuticals : Over the course of the past couple of years, investor interest in pharmaceutical stocks has been mostly limited to names working on COVID-19 vaccines and treatments. And that makes sense. That's where the bulk of the biggest and best near-term opportunity was.

The problem: That took away too much focus on companies that continued making great strides in their development of drugs to treat other ailments. Vertex Pharmaceuticals is one of these forgotten tickers. Despite its ongoing work to treat cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, diabetes, and other difficult-to-address conditions, the stock fell from 2020's peak near $300 to this past October's low of around $180.

The market seems to have caught on to its mistake. Vertex's shares have rallied roughly 30% from that low, mostly thanks to continued sales growth of its cystic fibrosis drug Trikafta, but also due to encouraging results with its midstage trial of VX-147 for the treatment of kidney disease. Trikafta's revenue, in fact, improved more than 50% year over year during the final quarter of last year.

Arguably, though, the stock is still not fully reflecting the company's full potential, which was ignored during the throes of the pandemic. If earnings grow as expected from last year's $13.02 per share to $14.21 this year and $15.22 per share next year, then the stock's only trading at 15.3 times 2023's projected profits. You don't see too many stocks growing actual profits this quickly at that sort of valuation.

Tap into surging demand for cybersecurity services

Keith Noonan CrowdStrike Holdings : Cyber attacks are the fastest-growing category of crime in the U.S., and digital breaches pose a huge risk to businesses and institutions. The company's share price has slid 19.5% year to date and roughly 43% from its peak, and I believe there's a great chance it will bounce back and go on to reach new highs. The long-term demand outlook for the cybersecurity leader's services is incredibly strong, and the growth story here is just getting started.

Vulnerabilities in computer systems, mobile devices, servers, and other hardware can be used by bad actors to gain access to networks, allowing them to steal or alter valuable information and cause massive financial and reputational damage. This gives the company a powerful network effect, and it's poised to continue being a category leader over the long term.

With organizations carrying out digital transformation initiatives and more connected devices being added to networks all the time, high-performance endpoint protection will only become increasingly important. That put them below the level in early January when Federal Reserve meeting minutes signaled that the central bank was taking a much more hawkish turn than expected, which rattled markets, according to Deutsche Bank strategist Jim Reid.“Real yields collapsing has probably helped cushion the blow for risk assets of the recent very negative events,” Reid said. The group at Citi agrees, and views this as a buying opportunity.“Growth stocks were hit by rising real yields, but should benefit as they reverse,” Buckland’s team strategists said. “Therefore, we raise two classic growth trades (U.S. equities, IT sector) back to Overweight.”Beyond the move in real yields, Citi is upbeat that stocks can weather the current storm well.“Despite the difficult events in Ukraine, global equities have been fairly robust,” the Citi strategists said, noting that losses have been concentrated in financials and stocks with direct Russia exposure. “We still want to buy the dips, and highlight that global equities have ended 10%-20% higher after previous geopolitical crises.”Similarly, Quant Insight, in a Thursday note, writes that for “investors ready to step into turbulent markets, US tech stocks look an efficient defensive bet.”Maybe the tech wreck really is ready to come to an end.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":372,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9038148381,"gmtCreate":1646782741452,"gmtModify":1676534160885,"author":{"id":"3582018639606874","authorId":"3582018639606874","name":"TBKeith","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3153e5158711508229717de5319441c3","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582018639606874","authorIdStr":"3582018639606874"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Apple let's go","listText":"Apple let's go","text":"Apple let's go","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9038148381","repostId":"2218408738","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":254,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9038060869,"gmtCreate":1646698960960,"gmtModify":1676534151598,"author":{"id":"3582018639606874","authorId":"3582018639606874","name":"TBKeith","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3153e5158711508229717de5319441c3","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582018639606874","authorIdStr":"3582018639606874"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Not gd","listText":"Not gd","text":"Not gd","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9038060869","repostId":"1156254568","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1156254568","pubTimestamp":1646698575,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1156254568?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-03-08 08:16","market":"sg","language":"en","title":"Singapore Stock Market Likely To Extend Losing Streak","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1156254568","media":"RTTNews","summary":"The Singapore stock market has ended lower in consecutive trading days, sinking more than 65 points ","content":"

The Singapore stock market has ended lower in consecutive trading days, sinking more than 65 points or 2.1 percent along the way. Shares of the company have lost more than a third of their valuesince announcing an earnings miss and giving disappointing revenue guidance. However, as this stock continues to drop, the market cap is getting to the point where the company's buyback could become a key catalyst moving forward.

For Q4, revenues grew by 20% over the prior-year period to $33.67 billion, which actually beat street estimates. However, GAAP earnings per share missed by 16 cents, as the company continued to spend heavily on investments in the Metaverse. Unfortunately, management also guided to first quarter 2022 revenues in a range of $27-29 billion, which represents just 3-11% year-over-year growth, and even the high end of that range fell short of the $30.27 billion consensus.

The amount of negativity I've seen surrounding this company since the earnings report has rivaled that of names I've seen go out of business soon thereafter. However, one must remember that we're still talking about a company guiding to at least $27 billion of revenue in what's usually its seasonally weakest time of the year. Let's not also forget that Meta continues to produce a significant amount of free cash flow, as the table below shows.Key Financials (Meta Cash Flow Statements)

Even though net income this year may not end up more than last year's, we still could see roughly the same amount of cash flow given all of the add-backs (depreciation, stock-based compensation, etc.). Nobody knows at this point whether management will make any big acquisitions in 2022, but for this argument, let's assume that a majority of the cash flow is spent to repurchase shares, especially after they have crashed recently.

For those that don't know, Meta is one of a number of tech companies that have two classes of shares. Class A shares are the ones that trade in the market every day, while Class B are non-trading and mostly held by early insiders, Mark Zuckerberg, etc. Class B shares can be exchanged for Class A, and Class B shares contain 10 voting rights per share while Class A shares only get one voting right. As of January 28th, according to the company's 10-K filing, there were roughly 413 million Class B shares. Below, you can see a history of Class A shares.Class A Shares Outstanding (Facebook SEC Filings)

To calculate the total market cap for Meta, you add the two share counts together and multiply by stock price, which was $206.16 for last Friday's close. Thus, the total value of the company is a little more than $561 billion at this point, with hundreds of billions lost as shares have fallen since earnings. However, if you want to think about the potential power of the buyback, it's really only important to look at Class A shares, which are the ones being repurchased right now.

The total market cap of just the Class A shares was $476 billion as of Friday's close, or a little less than 85% of the company's total market cap. When most people look at a buyback for a name like Meta, they would base the buyback off the $561 billion figure, but that's not really accurate here. Yes, the Class A share count won't come down at a number equal to the shares repurchased, because there are some offsets like stock-based compensation and Class B conversions. However, we are only today looking at what the buyback can do in isolation, as those other two items can vary from year to year.

Going into the Q4 earnings report, the Class A market cap was nearly $750 billion. If we assume $35 billion a year in share repurchases, that would have meant about 4.69% of shares outstanding could be bought back, before counting the dilutive items I mentioned above. At last Friday's close, that same $35 billion would get the company 7.35% of its shares, a nearly 57% increase. If Meta shares were to fall below $200 this week on Russia/Ukraine tensions and Fed policy worries, the math gets even more favorable. I should also point out that the average price target among street analysts is currently $339, so the street thinks the name is massively undervalued right now.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Meta: Buyback Could Be Key Catalyst
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nMeta: Buyback Could Be Key Catalyst\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-02-23 16:42 GMT+8 Seeking Alpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
SummaryShares hit new 52-week low after dismal earnings report.Class A share count finally starting to come down.Free cash flow could allow for significant repurchases. So far this earnings season, ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4488911-meta-platforms-buyback-could-be-key-catalyst","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1102840050","content_text":"SummaryShares hit new 52-week low after dismal earnings report.Class A share count finally starting to come down.Free cash flow could allow for significant repurchases. So far this earnings season, perhaps the name that's been hit the hardest is Facebook parent Meta Platforms (FB). Let's not also forget that Meta continues to produce a significant amount of free cash flow, as the table below shows.Key Financials (Meta Cash Flow Statements)Even though net income this year may not end up more than last year's, we still could see roughly the same amount of cash flow given all of the add-backs (depreciation, stock-based compensation, etc.). Below, you can see a history of Class A shares.Class A Shares Outstanding (Facebook SEC Filings)To calculate the total market cap for Meta, you add the two share counts together and multiply by stock price, which was $206.16 for last Friday's close. Thus, the total value of the company is a little more than $561 billion at this point, with hundreds of billions lost as shares have fallen since earnings. However, if you want to think about the potential power of the buyback, it's really only important to look at Class A shares, which are the ones being repurchased right now.The total market cap of just the Class A shares was $476 billion as of Friday's close, or a little less than 85% of the company's total market cap. When most people look at a buyback for a name like Meta, they would base the buyback off the $561 billion figure, but that's not really accurate here. Yes, the Class A share count won't come down at a number equal to the shares repurchased, because there are some offsets like stock-based compensation and Class B conversions. However, we are only today looking at what the buyback can do in isolation, as those other two items can vary from year to year.Going into the Q4 earnings report, the Class A market cap was nearly $750 billion. I should also point out that the average price target among street analysts is currently $339, so the street thinks the name is massively undervalued right now.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":176,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9039467170,"gmtCreate":1646102541693,"gmtModify":1676534091466,"author":{"id":"3582018639606874","authorId":"3582018639606874","name":"TBKeith","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3153e5158711508229717de5319441c3","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582018639606874","authorIdStr":"3582018639606874"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9039467170","repostId":"1100330218","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":208,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9096263955,"gmtCreate":1644401037693,"gmtModify":1676533921455,"author":{"id":"3582018639606874","authorId":"3582018639606874","name":"TBKeith","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3153e5158711508229717de5319441c3","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582018639606874","authorIdStr":"3582018639606874"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great","listText":"Great","text":"Great","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9096263955","repostId":"2210530947","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2210530947","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1644398829,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2210530947?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-02-09 17:27","market":"us","language":"en","title":"5 Stocks To Watch For February 9, 2022","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2210530947","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Some of the stocks that may grab investor focus today are:\n\tWall Street expects CVS Health Corporation (NYSE: CVS) to report quarterly earnings at $1.83 per share on revenue of $75.55 billion before the opening bell. Here’s What to Expect.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1121126533","media":"Barrons","summary":"The core debate on Netflix stock is whether the streaming video giant can maintain its subscriber gr","content":"
The core debate on Netflix stock is whether the streaming video giant can maintain its subscriber growth amid growing competition from new streaming services and from other forms of entertainment as the economy begins to emerge from the Covid-19 shutdown.
\n
Investors will get some new clues on that question on Tuesday, when Netflix (ticker: NFLX) reports first-quarter financial results.
\n
In reporting fourth-quarter results, Netflix projected March quarter revenue of $7.1 billion, with earnings of $2.97 a share, and 6 million net new subscribers. The net-add forecast for the March quarter is down from the 15.8 million spike in subscribers driven by Covid-19 in the year-ago first quarter.
\n
The company expects operating margin in the March quarter to jump to 25%, from 16.6% a year ago and 14.4% in the fourth quarter.
\n
Last quarter,Netflix surprised Wall Street with the news that it now expects to be cash flow break-even or better moving forward—and that it has begun considering stock buybacks. Netflix had $1.9 billion in positive free cash flow in 2020, thanks to lower production costs as a result of the pandemic, compared with a $3.3 billion cash flow loss in 2019. For 2021, Netflix expects to break even on a cash flow basis. Fourth-quarter cash flow was negative $138 million.
\n
Netflix also said that with $8.2 billion in cash and an untouched $750 million credit facility, “we believe we no longer have a need to raise external financing for our day-to-day operations.” In addition, the streaming giant said it had about $16 billion in debt overall and expects to maintain $10 billion to $15 billion in gross debt over time. Netflix said it would “explore returning cash to shareholders through ongoing stock buybacks,” something it hasn’t done since 2011.
\n
The stock shot higher on that news, but has since eased back, as attention turns to the potential for slowing near-term subscriber growth. Analyst sentiment heading into earnings is mixed.
\n
Piper Sandler analyst Thomas Champion, who has an Overweight rating and $605 target price on Netflix, is bullish on the stock heading into the report. While noting that the company was a beneficiary of the pandemic, he thinks Netflix will benefit from a combination of “a strong consumer” as the economy reopens, a clamp-down on password sharing, and “a pandemic tailwind that may remain in Europe.” Champion notes that a recent Piper survey of teens found that they allocate 32% of video consumption to Netflix, versus 8% for Hulu, the second-most popular subscription video service.
\n
UBS analyst John Hodulik notes that investors have become increasingly focused on how summer seasonality might manifest this year, given a reopening economy and the potential for added churn from higher subscription prices in some markets. The stock could remain volatile in the short-to-medium term, he warns. But the analyst “continues to view Netflix as the long-term winner within streaming media and remains constructive on the fundamentals.” He keeps a Buy rating and $650 target price on Netflix shares.
\n
Raymond James analyst Andrew Marok, who has a Market Perform rating on Netflix shares, remains cautious on the stock for now. Marok continues to view Netflix as a “long-term winner in the video-on-demand space,” he writes. The net-add forecast for the March quarter is down from the 15.8 million spike in subscribers driven by Covid-19 in the year-ago first quarter.\nThe company expects operating margin in the March quarter to jump to 25%, from 16.6% a year ago and 14.4% in the fourth quarter.\nLast quarter,Netflix surprised Wall Street with the news that it now expects to be cash flow break-even or better moving forward—and that it has begun considering stock buybacks. Netflix had $1.9 billion in positive free cash flow in 2020, thanks to lower production costs as a result of the pandemic, compared with a $3.3 billion cash flow loss in 2019. For 2021, Netflix expects to break even on a cash flow basis. Fourth-quarter cash flow was negative $138 million.\nNetflix also said that with $8.2 billion in cash and an untouched $750 million credit facility, “we believe we no longer have a need to raise external financing for our day-to-day operations.” In addition, the streaming giant said it had about $16 billion in debt overall and expects to maintain $10 billion to $15 billion in gross debt over time. Netflix said it would “explore returning cash to shareholders through ongoing stock buybacks,” something it hasn’t done since 2011.\nThe stock shot higher on that news, but has since eased back, as attention turns to the potential for slowing near-term subscriber growth. Analyst sentiment heading into earnings is mixed.\nPiper Sandler analyst Thomas Champion, who has an Overweight rating and $605 target price on Netflix, is bullish on the stock heading into the report. While noting that the company was a beneficiary of the pandemic, he thinks Netflix will benefit from a combination of “a strong consumer” as the economy reopens, a clamp-down on password sharing, and “a pandemic tailwind that may remain in Europe.” Champion notes that a recent Piper survey of teens found that they allocate 32% of video consumption to Netflix, versus 8% for Hulu, the second-most popular subscription video service.\nUBS analyst John Hodulik notes that investors have become increasingly focused on how summer seasonality might manifest this year, given a reopening economy and the potential for added churn from higher subscription prices in some markets. The stock could remain volatile in the short-to-medium term, he warns. But the analyst “continues to view Netflix as the long-term winner within streaming media and remains constructive on the fundamentals.” He keeps a Buy rating and $650 target price on Netflix shares.\nRaymond James analyst Andrew Marok, who has a Market Perform rating on Netflix shares, remains cautious on the stock for now. Marok continues to view Netflix as a “long-term winner in the video-on-demand space,” he writes. He does see some near-terms risks, however: the pace of subscriber additions post-pandemic, the impact of the pandemic on 2021 content releases, and scaling competition from cheaper competitive subscription services.\nFor Netflix’s June quarter, Wall Street consensus calls for revenue of $7.4 billion, earnings of $2.69 a share, and 4.4 million net subscriber additions.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":138,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
