Could one of those stocks be Roblox, the gaming company which gained millions of new users during the pandemic?
\n
\n
How much is Roblox worth today?
\n
Roblox went public via a direct listing this March with a reference price of $45. The stock opened at $64.50, and currently trades in the high $80s -- which gives it a market capitalization of nearly $50 billion. For Roblox to become a $1 trillion company by 2030, the stock would need to rise about 20 times.
\n
No pure-play video game company has crossed the $1 trillion mark yet. Activision Blizzard and Electronic Arts, two of the world's largest video game publishers, are currently worth about $70 billion and $40 billion, respectively. Unity, which indirectly competes against Roblox in the game engine and development space, is worth roughly $30 billion.
\n
If we compare these four companies' price-to-sales ratios, we'll notice the market is paying a much higher premium for game creation engines like Roblox and Unity than traditional video game publishers.
\n
\n <colgroup></colgroup>\n
\n
\n

Company

\n

P/S Ratio (Current FY)

\n

P/S Ratio (Next FY)

\n
\n
\n

Roblox (NYSE:RBLX)

\n

20

\n

16

\n
\n
\n

Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ:ATVI)

\n

8

\n

7

\n
\n
\n

Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:EA)

\n

6

\n

5

\n
\n
\n

Unity (NYSE:U)

\n

30

\n

23

\n
\n
\n
\n
Source: Yahoo Finance, July 7. FY = fiscal year.
\n
But is Roblox a fad or a new content platform?
\n
However, there are some key differences between Roblox and Unity.
\n
Roblox is a platform that enables younger users, many of whom don't have any coding experience, to build simple block-based games and share them with other players. Unity is an advanced game development engine that powers over half of the world's mobile, PC, and console games.
\n
Roblox encourages users to monetize their games with an in-app currency called Robux within its walled garden. Unity offers developers more flexible tools for integrating in-app ads, in-app purchases, and other features into their games.
\n
The bulls claim Roblox's self-sustaining cycle of content creation, self-promotion, and monetization will fuel its long-term growth. The bears will point out that half of the platform's daily active users (DAUs) are under the age of 13, and they might eventually grow out of Roblox's simple experiences or graduate to a more advanced game development engine like Unity.
\n
The bulls will point to Roblox's growth rates. Between the first quarters of 2018 and 2021, Roblox's DAUs more than quadrupled from 10.3 million to 42.1 million, its total hours engaged surged from 2.1 billion to 9.7 billion, and its average bookings per DAU jumped from $11.62 to $15.48.
\n
Roblox's revenue rose 56% in 2019, soared 82% in 2020, and analysts expect 167% growth this year. But next year, they expect its revenue to rise just 26% after the pandemic ends and more students return to school.
\n
The bears will point out Roblox isn't profitable, and it probably can't achieve profitability without reducing its exchange rate between U.S. dollars and Robux for developers. However, doing so could alienate its developers and throttle the platform's output of new content.
\n
Why Roblox probably can't hit $1 trillion by 2030
\n
Even if Roblox maintains a premium price-to-sales ratio of 20 through 2030, it would need to generate $50 billion in annual sales to hit the $1 trillion mark. Roblox generated just $933 million in revenues in 2020, so it would need to generate a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 50% to hit $50 billion by 2030.
\n
If Roblox's valuations cool off, as they'll likely do over the years, it will need to generate an ever higher CAGR to become a $1 trillion company. By comparison, Amazon grew its revenues at a CAGR of 27.4% over the past decade -- and it currently trades at just four times this year's sales. Therefore, it seems highly unlikely Roblox will become a $1 trillion company within the next decade.
\n
But that doesn't mean Roblox won't generate multibagger gains over the next decade. Apple and Amazon crossed that milestone in 2018, Microsoft followed suit in 2019, and Facebook joined the club earlier this year.\nMany other tech stocks could join that elite group within the next decade -- and investors who hop on board today could reap massive multibagger gains. Could one of those stocks be Roblox, the gaming company which gained millions of new users during the pandemic?\nImage source: Roblox.\nHow much is Roblox worth today?\nRoblox went public via a direct listing this March with a reference price of $45. The stock opened at $64.50, and currently trades in the high $80s -- which gives it a market capitalization of nearly $50 billion. For Roblox to become a $1 trillion company by 2030, the stock would need to rise about 20 times.\nNo pure-play video game company has crossed the $1 trillion mark yet. Activision Blizzard and Electronic Arts, two of the world's largest video game publishers, are currently worth about $70 billion and $40 billion, respectively. Unity, which indirectly competes against Roblox in the game engine and development space, is worth roughly $30 billion.\nIf we compare these four companies' price-to-sales ratios, we'll notice the market is paying a much higher premium for game creation engines like Roblox and Unity than traditional video game publishers.\n\n\n\n\nCompany\nP/S Ratio (Current FY)\nP/S Ratio (Next FY)\n\n\nRoblox (NYSE:RBLX)\n20\n16\n\n\nActivision Blizzard (NASDAQ:ATVI)\n8\n7\n\n\nElectronic Arts (NASDAQ:EA)\n6\n5\n\n\nUnity (NYSE:U)\n30\n23\n\n\n\nSource: Yahoo Finance, July 7. FY = fiscal year.\nBut is Roblox a fad or a new content platform?\nHowever, there are some key differences between Roblox and Unity.\nRoblox is a platform that enables younger users, many of whom don't have any coding experience, to build simple block-based games and share them with other players. Unity is an advanced game development engine that powers over half of the world's mobile, PC, and console games.\nRoblox encourages users to monetize their games with an in-app currency called Robux within its walled garden. Unity offers developers more flexible tools for integrating in-app ads, in-app purchases, and other features into their games.\nThe bulls claim Roblox's self-sustaining cycle of content creation, self-promotion, and monetization will fuel its long-term growth. The bears will point out that half of the platform's daily active users (DAUs) are under the age of 13, and they might eventually grow out of Roblox's simple experiences or graduate to a more advanced game development engine like Unity.\nThe bulls will point to Roblox's growth rates. Between the first quarters of 2018 and 2021, Roblox's DAUs more than quadrupled from 10.3 million to 42.1 million, its total hours engaged surged from 2.1 billion to 9.7 billion, and its average bookings per DAU jumped from $11.62 to $15.48.\nRoblox's revenue rose 56% in 2019, soared 82% in 2020, and analysts expect 167% growth this year. But next year, they expect its revenue to rise just 26% after the pandemic ends and more students return to school.\nThe bears will point out Roblox isn't profitable, and it probably can't achieve profitability without reducing its exchange rate between U.S. dollars and Robux for developers. However, doing so could alienate its developers and throttle the platform's output of new content.\nWhy Roblox probably can't hit $1 trillion by 2030\nEven if Roblox maintains a premium price-to-sales ratio of 20 through 2030, it would need to generate $50 billion in annual sales to hit the $1 trillion mark. Roblox generated just $933 million in revenues in 2020, so it would need to generate a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 50% to hit $50 billion by 2030.\nIf Roblox's valuations cool off, as they'll likely do over the years, it will need to generate an ever higher CAGR to become a $1 trillion company. By comparison, Amazon grew its revenues at a CAGR of 27.4% over the past decade -- and it currently trades at just four times this year's sales. Therefore, it seems highly unlikely Roblox will become a $1 trillion company within the next decade.\nBut that doesn't mean Roblox won't generate multibagger gains over the next decade. It could remain popular long after the pandemic passes, attract a new generation of younger users, and launch more powerful tools for advanced users. As it continues to expand, economies of scale should kick in and strengthen its earnings growth. Therefore, Roblox could still have plenty of room to run -- just don't expect it to join the 12-zero club anytime soon.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":97,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":162030073,"gmtCreate":1624027104392,"gmtModify":1703827043053,"author":{"id":"3582431952447941","authorId":"3582431952447941","name":"takeshi21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3b01d3b3d8f783b23970f9ae87894dc1","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582431952447941","authorIdStr":"3582431952447941"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$ContextLogic Inc.(WISH)$keep going, wishing with hand clasped","listText":"$ContextLogic Inc.(WISH)$keep going, wishing with hand clasped","text":"$ContextLogic Inc.(WISH)$keep going, wishing with hand clasped","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/162030073","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":886,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":814654205,"gmtCreate":1630815779307,"gmtModify":1676530400367,"author":{"id":"3582431952447941","authorId":"3582431952447941","name":"takeshi21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3b01d3b3d8f783b23970f9ae87894dc1","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582431952447941","authorIdStr":"3582431952447941"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wish for meta","listText":"Wish for meta","text":"Wish for meta","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/814654205","repostId":"1189766406","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":323,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":815650483,"gmtCreate":1630676996142,"gmtModify":1676530373797,"author":{"id":"3582431952447941","authorId":"3582431952447941","name":"takeshi21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3b01d3b3d8f783b23970f9ae87894dc1","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582431952447941","authorIdStr":"3582431952447941"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Meta Materials Inc.(MMAT)$a fight btw hedge fund and retail. Without a cord, the earbud gets its power from a tiny cylindrical battery that has about 1% of the capacity of an iPhone’s battery.\nBut lithium-ion batteries, like those used by the AirPods, wear out the more they are used.\nSome owners have noticed that, after a few years, used AirPods eventually will last only an hour or so before needing to be recharged -- a big decay from the four-to-five-hour battery life they have when new. Because each AirPod is so small and so tightly packed into its housing, it’s almost impossible to swap out the old battery for a new one. Most people give up and just buy a new pair.\nThe limited lifespan of AirPods is exactly the kind of problem that the “right-to-repair” movement wants to fix. Repair shops and lobbyists that support repair reform want lawmakers to implement a variety of rules, including increased access to manuals and official parts and consumer protections around warranties.\nBut one of their most important requests is for companies to design products with repair in mind, instead of packing gadgets with unlabeled parts and sticking them together with glue, forcing users to use a knife to take them apart.\nThis desire puts repair advocates at odds with hardware companies like Apple, whose business models depend on customers upgrading to the latest model every few years. When Apple offered cheap iPhone battery repairs a few years ago, it hurt sales as consumers were able to hang on to their old phones for longer instead of upgrading. Apple also charges customers for repairs and extended warranties.\n“We design our products for durability in order to minimize the need for repair,” Apple wrote in an environmental report earlier this year. “But in the instance a repair is needed, we believe our customers should have convenient access to safe and reliable repair services, to get their product back up and running as quickly as possible.”\nThe right-to-repair movement gains steam\nPolicymakers have started to engage more closely with right-to-repair advocates in recent years. State-level bills have been introduced in a majority of states, but electronics companies have lobbied against them and none have passed.\nIn May, the Federal Trade Commission released a 56-page report on repair restrictions, concluding that repair restrictions have “steered consumers into manufacturers’ repair networks or to replace products before the end of their useful lives” — exactly the problem users are running into with their AirPods.\nThe Biden administration on Friday ordered the FTC to write new regulations targeted at limiting manufacturers’ ability to hamper independent or do-it-yourself repairs as part of a sweeping executive order. New repair rules have not yet been drafted.\n“Tech and other companies impose restrictions on self and third-party repairs, making repairs more costly and time-consuming, such as by restricting the distribution of parts, diagnostics, and repair tools,” the White House wrote in a fact sheet about the order on Friday, linking to a story about fixing Apple products. Apple declined to comment on the White House executive order.\nThe FTC has not said what it plans to do, but repair advocates want a few key policy changes, as detailed in its May report. They want companies to be required to make official replacement parts available. They want access to tools that could make repairs easier without reverse-engineering the tools or parts themselves. And ultimately, they want products to be designed with longer lifespans.\nApple is not the only company that would be affected by these policies. Much of the recent pressure is on medical device companies and tractor manufacturers. But given Apple’s ubiquity, it has become a poster child for repair, especially because it promotes its environmental efforts as a corporate value.\nApple has launched a program it calls the “Independent Repair Program” which gives repair shops the option to enter into a certification process and contract with Apple in order to get access to authentic Apple parts, tools and manuals.\nApple has also reduced the price of its battery replacement for iPhones, and recent models have been designed to make it easier to replace a battery or cracked screen, according to iFixit. Plus, compared to other consumer electronics companies, Apple has a large existing network of stores and authorized repair shops.\nStill, many Apple products remain challenging to repair at home or as a business with no contact with Apple.\nThe only AirPods battery replacement company\niFixit, a company that provides disassembly instructions and sells replacement parts for gadgets, gives AirPods models a score of zero out of 10 for repairability. According to iFixit, repairing these earbuds involves soldering, hot air guns and slicing through glue — that is, if replacement battery parts are even available. In the end, a would-be home repairer would have to put the four-gram computer back together again.\nApple provides “battery service” for AirPods, at the cost of $49 per earbud. But functionally, Apple simply gives you a replacement pair, and the old earbuds are recycled. It’s not a repair, it’s a replacement. And it’s expensive. AirPods originally cost $159, so opting for battery service costs more than half of the price of a new pair.\nApple sold about 72.8 million AirPods units in 2020, according to a CounterPoint research estimate, so tens of millions of consumers will face the same lack of choice in the coming years.\nPodSwap is a Miami company founded by Emma Stritzinger and Emily Alpert which aims to keep AirPods “out of the landfill.” They’re not associated with Apple.\nThey believe they’re the only company performing AirPod battery replacements, although other companies “refurbish” old AirPods, the founders told CNBC. The company was formed after the founders experienced dying AirPods themselves and thought that upgrading or replacing them would be wasteful and impractical.\nI recently replaced a pair of AirPods that were only holding a charge for 45 minutes -- too short to complete a phone call. I paid $59 on PodSwap’s Shopify site and a few days later received a replacement pair of AirPods with new batteries. They weren’t my old AirPods, they were another set that had their batteries replaced.\nAlong with those new pods, PodSwap includes a box and a return label. It wants your old AirPods back. It then cleans and sanitizes the old pair, puts in new batteries and sends them out to the next person who wants to change the battery in their old AirPods.\nBut PodSwap faces many challenges that show why repair advocates want new rules. Alpert said the design of the AirPod makes it challenging for repair shops or companies like theirs to do a lot of battery replacements. PodSwap’s process uses both robotics and manual labor, the founders said.\n“The process was developed through trial and error and a large number of units were ‘sacrificed’ and ultimately recycled. One major challenge we faced was overcoming the uniqueness of this product. Each AirPod is assembled with slight differences, which creates complexity in the disassembly,” Alpert said.\nPodSwap plans to soon offer service for the AirPods Pro, a newer model that costs $249 and are, surprisingly, powered by a standard-sized coin battery.\nBut the AirPods Pro have many of the same problems as the first model — tight tolerances, potential damage while taking them apart, a lack of replacement parts, and a design that suggests the product was always designed to last a limited time.\n“We have found the AirPods Pro’s batteries to be more difficult to replace,” Alpert said. “The ergonomic design and tight unforgiving tolerances make it exceptionally challenging to replace the batteries repeatedly, with a high degree of efficiency.”\nPodSwap wasn’t totally seamless for me — I got sent a combination of “first generation” and “second generation” AirPods. They caused my iPhone to send error messages, but I sent an email to PodSwap and a day or two later I got a second replacement set, which worked.\nAfter that, I sent my first replacement set and my old AirPods back. The AirPods I received look and work like new.\nI plan on trying to get another four years out of them.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":174,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":154940494,"gmtCreate":1625472769618,"gmtModify":1703742353655,"author":{"id":"3582431952447941","authorId":"3582431952447941","name":"takeshi21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3b01d3b3d8f783b23970f9ae87894dc1","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582431952447941","authorIdStr":"3582431952447941"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Doubt","listText":"Doubt","text":"Doubt","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/154940494","repostId":"1170100655","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1170100655","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625452503,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1170100655?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-05 10:35","market":"hk","language":"en","title":"Best E-Commerce Stocks To Buy In July 2021? 4 Names In Focus","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1170100655","media":"Nasdaq","summary":"Could These Be The Top E-Commerce Stocks To Watch Right Now?E-commerce stocks had a historic year in thestock marketlast year. Well, it shouldn’t come as a surprise since many countries around the world were sent into lockdown. At that point, most shopping activities were conducted online. So, even those who were skeptical of online shopping initially must have been exposed to e-commerce platforms. This is of course due to the advancement of technology as well. Some company’s platforms such as Pinterest Inc (NYSE: PINS) even have augmented reality features that would allow you to have a rough idea of what you’re getting.
\n
The shift to online shopping has resulted in many emerging e-commerce companies. For example, we have Jumia Technologies (NYSE: JMIA) that aims to be the top online marketplace in the whole of Africa. Perhaps, this should not be overlooked as e-commerce is still a growing sector in Africa. Moreover, JMIA stock has already soared by more than 400% just within the past year. Now, if you are optimistic about the future of e-commerce, here’s a list of fourtop e-commerce stocks to watchin thestock market today.
\n
Best E-Commerce Stocks To Watch
\n
\n
Etsy Inc(NASDAQ: ETSY)
\n
eBay Inc(NASDAQ: EBAY)
\n
Alibaba Group Holding Ltd(NYSE: BABA)
\n
Chewy Inc(NYSE: CHWY)
\n
\n
Etsy Inc
\n
Let us start the list with Etsy. The company operates a marketplace where people globally connect, both online and offline to sell and buy goods. It also offers a range of seller services and tools that help entrepreneurs manage their businesses. As of now, the company’s seller services include Direct Checkout, Promoted Listings, Shipping Labels, and Pattern by Etsy. ETSY stock has risen by over 80% over the past year.
\n

\n
On Monday, Etsy signed a definitive agreement to acquire Elo7, a privately held marketplace for unique, handmade items, ranked as a top 10 e-commerce site in Brazil. The Elo7 marketplace connects approximately 1.9 million active buyers with approximately 56,000 active sellers and currently has approximately 8 million items for sale. Hence, this deal would establish Etsy’s presence in Latin America, an underpenetrated e-commerce region.
\n
Etsy is not resting on its laurels. It also signed a definitive agreement to acquire Depop, a purpose-driven marketplace for unique fashion for $1.625 billion earlier in June. Depop is a community-powered marketplace to buy and sell unique fashion, with a mission to build the world’s most diverse and progressive home of fashion. It appears that 90% of Depop’s active users are under the age of 26. So, this could serve as a resale home for Gen Z consumers to the Etsy family. Given all these exciting developments, would you consider investing in ETSY stock?
\n
eBay Inc
\n
Next, we have one of the industry leaders of e-commerce, eBay. Essentially, the company operates marketplace platforms that connect buyers and sellers globally. This includes its online marketplace at ebay.com and the eBay suite of mobile apps. So, you could buy, sell, and pay for items through various online and offline channels. eBay stock has been one of the better-performing stocks within the e-commerce space this year. It has climbed by over 35% year-to-date.
\n

\n
Just last week, the company announced the completion of the transfer of its Classifieds business to Adevinta in exchange for $2.5 billion cash and a 44% equity stake in Adevinta. This combination will hopefully create a leading global online classifieds business. In the long run, both companies will be primed to benefit from its combined portfolio that may offer additional value for its customers and shareholders.
\n
eBay also had an impressive first quarter to start the year with the highest revenue growth since 2005. Its revenue was $3.0 billion, up 42% on an as-reported basis. There was also increased activity on its platform. Annual active buyers grew by 7%, now at a total of 187 million. Meanwhile, its annual active sellers grew by 8%, for a total of 20 million. We can see that the company is firing on all cylinders as we recover from the global pandemic. With that in mind, would you add EBAY stock to your watchlist?
\n
Alibaba Group Holding Ltd
\n
Coming up next, we have one of the largest e-commerce companies in the world, Alibaba. The company’s technology infrastructure and marketing reach help merchants and brands to leverage the power of technology to engage its users, and customers to operate. As of today, its three main sites, Taobao, Tmall, and Alibaba.com boast hundreds of millions of users and host millions of merchants and businesses.
\n

\n
Fundamentally, the company is as strong as ever. For its fourth-quarter fiscal 2021 earnings report, its revenue climbed to $28.6 billion, representing a 64% increase. Alibaba also reported 811 million annual active consumers in China which represents an 11% growth year-over-year. This is important because retaining and attracting active consumers would support the company’s business model.
\n
That said, it has not been a fantastic year for Alibaba this year. The company’s struggle this year was affected by the Chinese government. Alibaba was hit with a record fine of $2.75 billion earlier in April. However, the worst could be over for the company as the Chinese government is slowly shifting its focus to the company’s competitors. So, if you have missed the boat on BABA stock prior to this, could this be the classic buy-on-dip opportunity?
\n
Chewy Inc
\n
Last on this list, we have an e-commerce company that specializes in pet products, Chewy. In essence, it provides pet food and treats, pet supplies and pet medications, and other pet-health products, as well as pet services. Pet lovers out there could access all these products through its chewy.com retail website, and its mobile applications. The company stock may have been trading sideways since the start of the year. But, it has still climbed by over 70% over the past year.
\n

\n
In June, the company posted its first-quarter financial report that beat analysts’ expectations. Its net sales were $2.14 billion, growing 31.7% year-over-year. Meanwhile, its adjusted EBITDA came in at $77.4 million and its net income was $38.7 million. More importantly, Chewy added 600,000 active customers during the quarter which brings the number of active customers to 19.2 million. All in all, the company is growing in the right direction.
\n
Furthermore, Chewy also continues to innovate on their popular telehealth service, Connect with a Vet. May’s expansion includes the highly anticipated video consultation feature which allows pre-scheduling virtual vet consultation and extended hours of operation including weekends. With this, customers gain more accessibility to the company’s services and a better experience overall. Well, it shouldn’t come as a surprise since many countries around the world were sent into lockdown. At that point, most shopping activities were conducted online. So, even those who were skeptical of online shopping initially must have been exposed to e-commerce platforms. This is of course due to the advancement of technology as well. Some company’s platforms such as Pinterest Inc (NYSE: PINS) even have augmented reality features that would allow you to have a rough idea of what you’re getting.\nThe shift to online shopping has resulted in many emerging e-commerce companies. Now, if you are optimistic about the future of e-commerce, here’s a list of fourtop e-commerce stocks to watchin thestock market today.\nBest E-Commerce Stocks To Watch\n\nEtsy Inc(NASDAQ: ETSY)\neBay Inc(NASDAQ: EBAY)\nAlibaba Group Holding Ltd(NYSE: BABA)\nChewy Inc(NYSE: CHWY)\n\nEtsy Inc\nLet us start the list with Etsy. ETSY stock has risen by over 80% over the past year.\n\nOn Monday, Etsy signed a definitive agreement to acquire Elo7, a privately held marketplace for unique, handmade items, ranked as a top 10 e-commerce site in Brazil. The Elo7 marketplace connects approximately 1.9 million active buyers with approximately 56,000 active sellers and currently has approximately 8 million items for sale. Hence, this deal would establish Etsy’s presence in Latin America, an underpenetrated e-commerce region.\nEtsy is not resting on its laurels. Given all these exciting developments, would you consider investing in ETSY stock?\neBay Inc\nNext, we have one of the industry leaders of e-commerce, eBay. It has climbed by over 35% year-to-date.\n\nJust last week, the company announced the completion of the transfer of its Classifieds business to Adevinta in exchange for $2.5 billion cash and a 44% equity stake in Adevinta. This combination will hopefully create a leading global online classifieds business. In the long run, both companies will be primed to benefit from its combined portfolio that may offer additional value for its customers and shareholders.\neBay also had an impressive first quarter to start the year with the highest revenue growth since 2005. With that in mind, would you add EBAY stock to your watchlist?\nAlibaba Group Holding Ltd\nComing up next, we have one of the largest e-commerce companies in the world, Alibaba. The company’s technology infrastructure and marketing reach help merchants and brands to leverage the power of technology to engage its users, and customers to operate. As of today, its three main sites, Taobao, Tmall, and Alibaba.com boast hundreds of millions of users and host millions of merchants and businesses.\n\nFundamentally, the company is as strong as ever. For its fourth-quarter fiscal 2021 earnings report, its revenue climbed to $28.6 billion, representing a 64% increase. Alibaba also reported 811 million annual active consumers in China which represents an 11% growth year-over-year. This is important because retaining and attracting active consumers would support the company’s business model.\nThat said, it has not been a fantastic year for Alibaba this year. The company’s struggle this year was affected by the Chinese government. Alibaba was hit with a record fine of $2.75 billion earlier in April. However, the worst could be over for the company as the Chinese government is slowly shifting its focus to the company’s competitors. So, if you have missed the boat on BABA stock prior to this, could this be the classic buy-on-dip opportunity?\nChewy Inc\nLast on this list, we have an e-commerce company that specializes in pet products, Chewy. In essence, it provides pet food and treats, pet supplies and pet medications, and other pet-health products, as well as pet services. Pet lovers out there could access all these products through its chewy.com retail website, and its mobile applications. The company stock may have been trading sideways since the start of the year. But, it has still climbed by over 70% over the past year.\n\nIn June, the company posted its first-quarter financial report that beat analysts’ expectations. All in all, the company is growing in the right direction.\nFurthermore, Chewy also continues to innovate on their popular telehealth service, Connect with a Vet. May’s expansion includes the highly anticipated video consultation feature which allows pre-scheduling virtual vet consultation and extended hours of operation including weekends. As CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A)(NYSE:BRK.B), Buffett has led his company to an average annual return of 20% since taking the helm in 1965. Through 2020, this worked out to an aggregate return of more than 2,800,000%, and it's created over $500 billion in value for Berkshire Hathaway's shareholders.
\n
Like all investors, Buffett isn't infallible. He's going to make mistakes from time to time. But he and his investing team have a knack for locating companies with plain-as-day sustainable competitive advantages. As the summer temperatures heat up, the following three Warren Buffett stocks stand out as screaming buys.
\n
Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Image source: The Motley Fool.
\n
Amazon
\n
Was there ever any doubt that Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) wouldn't be a screaming buy? Even though it's a stock that was added by Buffett's investing lieutenants (Todd Combs and Ted Weschler) and not the Oracle of Omaha himself, it's nevertheless one of the most attractive holdings in Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio.
\n
As a lot of folks are probably aware, Amazon is the king of the hill when it comes online commerce. This year, the company's marketplace is expected to control roughly $0.40 of every $1 spent online in the United States, according to an April report from eMarketer. The next closest competitor is Walmart, which'll handle about 7% of all U.S. online retail.
\n
Amazon has been able to pivot its incredible online retail success into signing up more than 200 million people worldwide to a Prime membership. While Prime members enjoy free two-day shipping and access to streaming content, the lure for Amazon is that Prime fees generate tens of billions in added revenue that it can use to undercut brick-and-mortar retailers on price and buoy its margins.
\n
What you might not realize about Amazon is that it's overwhelmingly dominant in a second industry, as well. Amazon Web Services (AWS) brought in 32% of global cloud infrastructure spending in the first quarter, per Canalys. Cloud infrastructure is still, arguably, in the early innings of its expansion, and it's a considerably higher margin segment for Amazon than retail or advertising. Thus, AWS is going to send Amazon's operating cash flow to the moon as it grows into a larger percentage of total sales.
\n
For the past 11 years, Wall Street and investors have consistently valued Amazon at a multiple of 23 to 37 times its cash flow. If this range remains intact, a near-tripling in the stock is possible by mid-decade.
\n
\n
Bristol Myers Squibb
\n
If value investing suits you better, pharmaceutical stock Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY) has the makings of a screaming summer buy.
\n
The great thing about healthcare stocks is they're highly defensive. Since we don't get to choose when we get sick or what ailments we develop, there's a consistent demand for healthcare services, drugs, and devices, no matter how well or poorly the U.S. and global economy are performing.
\n
What makes Bristol Myers Squibb such a special company is its organic growth potential and astute dealmaking. To tackle the former, Bristol Myers and Pfizer co-developed the world's leading oral anticoagulant, Eliquis, which looks to be on pace for more than $10 billion in sales this year for Bristol. There's also cancer immunotherapy Opdivo, which is being examined in dozens of ongoing clinical trials. Opdivo is already bringing in about $7 billion annually, and could push higher with continued label expansion opportunities. All told, eight brand-name therapies are on track for at least $1.2 billion in annual sales this year, based on extrapolated Q1 sales totals.
\n
On the dealmaking front, Bristol Myers Squibb hit a home run when it acquired cancer and immunology drugmaker Celgene in 2019. Celgene's superstar is multiple myeloma drug Revlimid, which brought in $12.1 billion in sales last year and has been growing by a double-digit percentage annually for more than a decade. Longer duration of use, label expansions, improved cancer screening diagnostics, and strong pricing power have all fueled Revlimid's growth. Best of all, it's protected from a large wave of generic competition until the end of January 2026. This means Bristol Myers will be basking in significant cash flow for another 4.5 years.
\n
In a world where valuation premiums are soaring, it seems unjust that a company so profitable should be valued at only 8.5 times Wall Street's consensus earnings for 2022.
\n
\n
General Motors
\n
Lastly, if you want a screaming summer buy that's near and dear to Warren Buffett's investment philosophy, consider auto stock General Motors (NYSE:GM).
\n
Historically, auto stocks are slow-growing companies that sports high levels of debt and are valued at price-to-earnings multiples that are well below the average S&P 500 company. But General Motors and its peers are the verge of taking advantage of an epic vehicle replacement cycle as consumers and businesses make the shift to electric vehicles (EV).
\n
Initially, General Motors was going to devote $20 billion to EV investment by mid-decade. However, in November, the company upped its expected outlay to $27 billion by 2025, with the ultimate goal of bringing 30 new EVs to market globally. Some of this capital will be used to bring EVs to market earlier than initially planned, as well as to develop GM's battery technology. With IHS Markit forecasting that 10% of all U.S. vehicle sales will be electric by 2025 (up from 1.8% in 2020), a hefty investment in this changing landscape makes sense for GM.
\n
Equally important are the company's ambitions overseas -- especially in China, the largest auto market in the world. As CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A)(NYSE:BRK.B), Buffett has led his company to an average annual return of 20% since taking the helm in 1965. Through 2020, this worked out to an aggregate return of more than 2,800,000%, and it's created over $500 billion in value for Berkshire Hathaway's shareholders.\nLike all investors, Buffett isn't infallible. He's going to make mistakes from time to time. But he and his investing team have a knack for locating companies with plain-as-day sustainable competitive advantages. As the summer temperatures heat up, the following three Warren Buffett stocks stand out as screaming buys.\nBerkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Image source: The Motley Fool.\nAmazon\nWas there ever any doubt that Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) wouldn't be a screaming buy? Even though it's a stock that was added by Buffett's investing lieutenants (Todd Combs and Ted Weschler) and not the Oracle of Omaha himself, it's nevertheless one of the most attractive holdings in Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio.\nAs a lot of folks are probably aware, Amazon is the king of the hill when it comes online commerce. This year, the company's marketplace is expected to control roughly $0.40 of every $1 spent online in the United States, according to an April report from eMarketer. The next closest competitor is Walmart, which'll handle about 7% of all U.S. online retail.\nAmazon has been able to pivot its incredible online retail success into signing up more than 200 million people worldwide to a Prime membership. While Prime members enjoy free two-day shipping and access to streaming content, the lure for Amazon is that Prime fees generate tens of billions in added revenue that it can use to undercut brick-and-mortar retailers on price and buoy its margins.\nWhat you might not realize about Amazon is that it's overwhelmingly dominant in a second industry, as well. Amazon Web Services (AWS) brought in 32% of global cloud infrastructure spending in the first quarter, per Canalys. Cloud infrastructure is still, arguably, in the early innings of its expansion, and it's a considerably higher margin segment for Amazon than retail or advertising. Thus, AWS is going to send Amazon's operating cash flow to the moon as it grows into a larger percentage of total sales.\nFor the past 11 years, Wall Street and investors have consistently valued Amazon at a multiple of 23 to 37 times its cash flow. If this range remains intact, a near-tripling in the stock is possible by mid-decade.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nBristol Myers Squibb\nIf value investing suits you better, pharmaceutical stock Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY) has the makings of a screaming summer buy.\nThe great thing about healthcare stocks is they're highly defensive. Since we don't get to choose when we get sick or what ailments we develop, there's a consistent demand for healthcare services, drugs, and devices, no matter how well or poorly the U.S. and global economy are performing.\nWhat makes Bristol Myers Squibb such a special company is its organic growth potential and astute dealmaking. All told, eight brand-name therapies are on track for at least $1.2 billion in annual sales this year, based on extrapolated Q1 sales totals.\nOn the dealmaking front, Bristol Myers Squibb hit a home run when it acquired cancer and immunology drugmaker Celgene in 2019. This means Bristol Myers will be basking in significant cash flow for another 4.5 years.\nIn a world where valuation premiums are soaring, it seems unjust that a company so profitable should be valued at only 8.5 times Wall Street's consensus earnings for 2022.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nGeneral Motors\nLastly, if you want a screaming summer buy that's near and dear to Warren Buffett's investment philosophy, consider auto stock General Motors (NYSE:GM).\nHistorically, auto stocks are slow-growing companies that sports high levels of debt and are valued at price-to-earnings multiples that are well below the average S&P 500 company. But General Motors and its peers are the verge of taking advantage of an epic vehicle replacement cycle as consumers and businesses make the shift to electric vehicles (EV).\nInitially, General Motors was going to devote $20 billion to EV investment by mid-decade. However, in November, the company upped its expected outlay to $27 billion by 2025, with the ultimate goal of bringing 30 new EVs to market globally. Some of this capital will be used to bring EVs to market earlier than initially planned, as well as to develop GM's battery technology. With IHS Markit forecasting that 10% of all U.S. vehicle sales will be electric by 2025 (up from 1.8% in 2020), a hefty investment in this changing landscape makes sense for GM.\nEqually important are the company's ambitions overseas -- especially in China, the largest auto market in the world. By 2035, the Society of Automotive Engineers of China anticipates that half of all vehicle sales will be some form of alternative energy. Through the first-half of 2021, GM delivered more than 1.5 million vehicles in China. With an established presence, existing infrastructure, and well-known branding, GM has a real shot at becoming an EV leader in China.\nA forward-year price-to-earnings ratio of 8 simply doesn't convey the multi-decade growth opportunity that's on GM's doorstep.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":128,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":188852334,"gmtCreate":1623429187528,"gmtModify":1704203603230,"author":{"id":"3582431952447941","authorId":"3582431952447941","name":"takeshi21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3b01d3b3d8f783b23970f9ae87894dc1","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582431952447941","authorIdStr":"3582431952447941"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wish fly up high","listText":"Wish fly up high","text":"Wish fly up high","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/188852334","repostId":"2142022769","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2142022769","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Dow Jones publishes the world’s most trusted business news and financial information in a variety of media.","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Dow Jones","id":"106","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/150f88aa4d182df19190059f4a365e99"},"pubTimestamp":1623380100,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2142022769?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-11 10:55","market":"us","language":"en","title":"We put 6 more meme stocks' numbers to the test and the differences are telling","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2142022769","media":"Dow Jones","summary":"Digging deeper into the the meme stock phenomenon, there are big difference between Palantir, Wendy's, Canoo and other companies. The world of meme stocks is changing every day as traders communicating through Reddit's WallStreetBets channel and other social media set their sights on new targets for short squeezes or find other downtrodden companies to bid up in price. After last week's look at financial results and projections for the four BANG stocks and four other meme companies, what follows i","content":"
\n Digging deeper into the the meme stock phenomenon, there are big difference between Palantir, Wendy's, Canoo and other companies.\n
\n
The world of meme stocks is changing every day as traders communicating through Reddit's WallStreetBets channel and other social media set their sights on new targets for short squeezes or find other downtrodden companies to bid up in price.
\n
After last week's look at financial results and projections for the four BANG stocks and four other meme companies, what follows is the same treatment for six more.
\n
(The BANG stocks are BlackBerry Ltd. (BB.T), AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc $(AMC)$, Nokia Corp. (NOKIA.HE) and GameStop Corp. $(GME)$.)
\n
Short squeezes and meme stocks
\n
Traders looking to group together on social media to make quick killings by pushing up share prices of companies at early stages or those going through difficult times have been setting up short squeezes.
\n
Professional investors have traditionally short-sold shares of companies they believe will perform worse than most other investors or analysts expect. Shorting means borrowing a company's shares and selling them immediately, in the hope of buying them back at a lower price, returning them to the lender and pocketing the difference. If you simply buy a stock hoping it will go up, all you risk is the money you invest. You might get wiped out. But if you short a stock, your risk potential is unlimited. You never know how high the price might rise if you have gotten the trade wrong.
\n
\"Covering\" a short position is when you buy back the shares to return them to the investor who lent them to you. You are hoping to cover at a lower price than you sold the shares for, to make a profit.
\n
To have a short position, you need to have a margin account with a broker -- an account that lets you borrow to invest or trade. Because of the risk in taking a short position, if the share price goes against you (higher), your broker will keep increasing its collateral requirements. If you run out of cash as the price keeps rising, you will be forced to cover at a loss. That type of action among a large group of short-sellers pushes the price higher in a spiral -- a short squeeze.
\n
Six more meme stocks
\n
The action changes daily. On June 9, for example, shares of Clover Health Investments Corp. $(CLOV)$ fell 24% after rising 86% the day before. The stock is 36.6% sold short, according to FactSet.
\n
Read:Newest meme stock darling Clover Health is popping. Is the SEC watching?
\n
Here are the six additional meme stocks, following our initial group of eight , sorted by market capitalization as of the close on June 9:
\n

\n
Palantir Technologies Inc. (PLTR) provides a software platform used by government defense and intelligence agencies. It is the largest company on the list by market cap, but not by revenue, as you can see below. A year-to-date chart of its price performance shows how wild the meme-stock action can be:
\n

\n
Palantir's stock was up 3% for 2021 through June 9, but its market cap had increased by 26% because the company had been raising cash by selling additional shares to investors. The company's following as a meme stock seems to spring more from its growth prospects than from short interest, which peaked at 8.5% of shares available for sale, according to FactSet.
\n
Wendy's Co. $(WEN)$ is another meme stock whose addition to the group may be a bit confusing, as the stock isn't heavily shorted and the company is stable. Thornton McEnery dug into the action on June 8, which may have included confusion over Wendy's ticker symbol , when the stock rose 26%.
\n
ContextLogic Inc. (WISH) is one of two stocks on the new list that have fallen this year. The mobile e-commerce company's stock opened below its initial public offering price before the IPO.
\n
Short interest
\n
Keeping the group in the same order, here are levels of short interest as percentages of available shares and in dollars:
\n

\n
FactSet's data on short positions as a percentage of shares outstanding is updated twice a month. The data was updated overnight between June 9 and 10. The second update takes place around the 25th day of the month.
\n
Clover is the most heavily shorted stock on the list. Brad Lamensdorf, CEO of ActiveAlts in Westport, Conn., who runs long and short investment strategies, said previously that a short percentage \"over 30% to 40% is outrageously high.\" (Lamensdorf co-manages the AdvisorShares Ranger Equity Bear ETF (HDGE), which is meant to be used as a hedging tool.)
\n
A high percentage of shares sold short makes a stock especially dangerous for the short-sellers, because it can increase the intensity of any short squeeze.
\n
We have shown the short interest as a percentage of market cap in order to provide context. Tesla Inc. $(TSLA)$ is an excellent example to provide more context, because the company has such a large market capitalization of $576.8 billion. Only 5.16% of the shares are sold short, but that comes to $29.8 billion in short interest -- the most (in dollars) for any stock in the S&P 500. Amazon.com Inc. $(AMZN)$ ranks second for dollars of short interest in the benchmark index, with 1.09% of shares sold short, which comes to $18.1 billion in short interest for a company with a market cap of $1.66 trillion.
\n
Canoo Inc. (GOEV) is the second-most heavily shorted stock listed above, at 29.5%. The electric-vehicle maker was formed on Dec. 21 through the merger of Canoo Holdings Ltd. and Hennessy Capital Acquisition Corp. IV, a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC. Canoo expects to produce its first vehicle in mid-2022 in limited quantities, with \"serial production launching in 2023,\" according to its 10-K report filed on March 31.
\n
Clean Energy Fuels Corp. $(CLNE.AU)$ provides natural gas for use as an alternative to gasoline or diesel for fleets of vehicles. The stock is 6.58% sold-short, but has had a good run this year as the energy sector has recovered.
\n
Fundamentals
\n
We'll look back at sales results for this group of six meme stocks and then look ahead at sales estimates through 2023.
\n
\n
Looking back
\n
\n
First, here's a comparison of annual sales, in millions of dollars for the past five reported fiscal years (where available):
\n

\n
You can see clear growth paths in recent years for Palantir, Wendy's and ContextLogic, while Clean Energy Fuels had understandable challenges from lower natural gas prices in 2020.
\n
Clover was incorporated on Oct. 18, 2019. It hasn't yet reported annual revenue. For the first quarter, the company reported $200.3 million in sales, up from $165.5 million in the first quarter of 2020. Clover merged with Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings Corp. Price-to-sale ratios, based on closing share prices on June 9 and the 2023 estimates, are included. In comparison, the S&P 500 trades for 2.5 times its weighted aggregate consensus sales estimate for 2023.
\n
Looking ahead -- earnings
\n
Here are earnings-per-share estimates going out to 2023:
\n

\n
You might not have expected the EPS projections to be particularly useful, but they underscore how high these stocks are trading. The S&P 500 trades for 18.4 times its consensus EPS estimate for 2023.
\n
The estimates show expected improvement for Palantir, if it manages to maintain its rapid sales growth.
Zoom generated $873 million of net income on $3.3 billion of trailing-12-month sales, and Peloton served up $213 million of net income from $3.7 billion in revenue.\nSubstantial profits give these companies an edge when it comes to reinvesting in growth opportunities ahead of them and spending on efforts to enhance their competitive positioning and first-mover advantages in their respective industries.\nWhile there's no guarantee these two stocks will beat the market over the next 10 years, their recent momentum -- before, during, and after the worst part of the pandemic -- suggests they likely have a promising future.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":139,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":140967589,"gmtCreate":1625624400041,"gmtModify":1703745149010,"author":{"id":"3582431952447941","authorId":"3582431952447941","name":"takeshi21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3b01d3b3d8f783b23970f9ae87894dc1","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582431952447941","authorIdStr":"3582431952447941"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Next","listText":"Next","text":"Next","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/140967589","repostId":"1189741956","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":90,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":140964595,"gmtCreate":1625624357817,"gmtModify":1703745147050,"author":{"id":"3582431952447941","authorId":"3582431952447941","name":"takeshi21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3b01d3b3d8f783b23970f9ae87894dc1","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582431952447941","authorIdStr":"3582431952447941"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Mostly tech","listText":"Mostly tech","text":"Mostly tech","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/140964595","repostId":"2149507863","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2149507863","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625575839,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2149507863?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-06 20:50","market":"us","language":"en","title":"40 of the hottest stocks in the market so far in 2021","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2149507863","media":"Yahoo Finance","summary":"It has been a great year for the stock prices of some very well-known companies, and in a few cases ","content":"
It has been a great year for the stock prices of some very well-known companies, and in a few cases surprisingly so.
\n
The broader market's performance hasn't been too shabby, either. An increasing need for EVcharging technologyis set to benefit a raft of global stocks, according to the bank, including semiconductor and Big Oil companies, as well as auto suppliers.\nBank of America analysts led by Harry Wyburd flagged a rapid rise in ownership of electric vehicles, with EVs on Europe’s roads up 100% since pre-Covid.\nIn a research note published last week, they wrote: “Our updated charger forecasts see c. [circa] $80bn of potential charging infrastructure investment by 2040E [estimate].”\nThe bank estimates there are currently around nine public charging points per 100 electric vehicles in Europe and expects the number to rise as more of the cars hit the road.
