Investors have noticed, and their stock prices are up 289% and 154%, respectively, over the last three years.
\n
One way you can get into these stocks at better prices would be during a stock market crash. Admittedly, it can be difficult to be a buyer when you see the market selling off. That's why it pays to look into companies you are interested in buying and put them on your list so that you can be ready to make the buy when the event occurs.
\n
Here are a few features of each stock that make these two companies attractive investments in the long run.
\n
Data source: YCharts
\n
1. Roku
\n
Roku is benefiting from the long-run secular trend where consumers are switching from linear TV to streaming viewership. The rate of the shift may fluctuate but it's unlikely to change direction. According to Roku management, eventually, content will be 100% streaming. Indeed, here is what founder and CEO Anthony Wood said in its most recent conference call:
\n
\n But I think the big picture for me is that we're still in the middle of this transition where viewers, advertisers, and the industry is moving 100% to streaming. We're just not there yet, but it's moving and it's happening. If you look, one stat I think that's interesting from Nielsen is that if you look at 18 to 45-year-olds, 39% of their TV watching is streaming.\n
\n
Roku has accumulated 55.1 million accounts, a 28% increase from the second quarter of last year. Undoubtedly, the pandemic helped accelerate customer acquisition. Folks were limited in entertainment options when ballparks, concerts, restaurants, and movie theaters were all shut down for most of the previous year.
\n
The company's operating system is reliable and fast. That's led many original equipment manufacturers to build TVs with Roku's operating system natively installed. Roku is the No. 1 TV operating system in the U.S. and Canada, and it's well on its way to international expansion.
\n
\n
2. Chewy
\n
Chewy is an exclusively online pet retailer. The company boasts 19.8 million active customers, 31.8% more than it had last year. The pandemic caused millions of pet parents to look for new options to fulfill their pet's everyday needs. Some may never return to shopping in brick-and-mortar stores. One reason is that Chewy offers customers automatic delivery of their pet's food and medicine.
\n
Indeed, in its most recent quarter, 69.3% of overall sales were through automatic delivery, or what Chewy calls Autoship. It makes people's lives easier as it is one less thing they need to remember. Chewy even offers a small discount on orders placed through Autoship. The company is piggybacking off the long-run spending moving online from retail locations.
\n
Revenue is growing rapidly, and Chewy is doing it efficiently. Its gross profit margin expanded from 16.6% in 2016 to 25.5% in 2021.
\n
Investor takeaway
\n
Roku and Chewy are doing an excellent job capturing their respective markets and solving a problem for their customers. Investors have noticed, and their stock prices are up 289% and 154%, respectively, over the last three years.\nOne way you can get into these stocks at better prices would be during a stock market crash. Admittedly, it can be difficult to be a buyer when you see the market selling off. That's why it pays to look into companies you are interested in buying and put them on your list so that you can be ready to make the buy when the event occurs.\nHere are a few features of each stock that make these two companies attractive investments in the long run.\nData source: YCharts\n1. Roku\nRoku is benefiting from the long-run secular trend where consumers are switching from linear TV to streaming viewership. The rate of the shift may fluctuate but it's unlikely to change direction. According to Roku management, eventually, content will be 100% streaming. Indeed, here is what founder and CEO Anthony Wood said in its most recent conference call:\n\n But I think the big picture for me is that we're still in the middle of this transition where viewers, advertisers, and the industry is moving 100% to streaming. We're just not there yet, but it's moving and it's happening. If you look, one stat I think that's interesting from Nielsen is that if you look at 18 to 45-year-olds, 39% of their TV watching is streaming.\n\nRoku has accumulated 55.1 million accounts, a 28% increase from the second quarter of last year. Undoubtedly, the pandemic helped accelerate customer acquisition. Folks were limited in entertainment options when ballparks, concerts, restaurants, and movie theaters were all shut down for most of the previous year.\nThe company's operating system is reliable and fast. That's led many original equipment manufacturers to build TVs with Roku's operating system natively installed. Roku is the No. 1 TV operating system in the U.S. and Canada, and it's well on its way to international expansion.\nImage source: Getty Images.\n2. Chewy\nChewy is an exclusively online pet retailer. The company boasts 19.8 million active customers, 31.8% more than it had last year. The pandemic caused millions of pet parents to look for new options to fulfill their pet's everyday needs. Some may never return to shopping in brick-and-mortar stores. One reason is that Chewy offers customers automatic delivery of their pet's food and medicine.\nIndeed, in its most recent quarter, 69.3% of overall sales were through automatic delivery, or what Chewy calls Autoship. It makes people's lives easier as it is one less thing they need to remember. Chewy even offers a small discount on orders placed through Autoship. The company is piggybacking off the long-run spending moving online from retail locations.\nRevenue is growing rapidly, and Chewy is doing it efficiently. Its gross profit margin expanded from 16.6% in 2016 to 25.5% in 2021.\nInvestor takeaway\nRoku and Chewy are doing an excellent job capturing their respective markets and solving a problem for their customers. Streaming content costs less, and viewers get liberated from lengthy cable contracts. Chewy gives pet parents the peace of mind to know food and medicine can be delivered automatically.\nThe one hesitation investors could have with these two companies is their relatively rich valuations. Putting these stocks on your watch list and waiting for a market correction to buy could minimize that hesitation.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":497,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":894035479,"gmtCreate":1628777238091,"gmtModify":1676529851977,"author":{"id":"3582621934985429","authorId":"3582621934985429","name":"mcks","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a8e76bd8f2b7b42ceb5e2424c6eafc5c","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582621934985429","authorIdStr":"3582621934985429"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"通用汽车(General Motors (NYSE:GM))、斯特兰提斯(Stellantis)和大众(Volkswagen),已经各自制定了计划,在未来5年到10年的时间里,平均每年在电气化方面,投入约65亿美元的资金。
\n
\n
Adam Jonas还指出:
\n
,"news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":233,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":899357097,"gmtCreate":1628163673319,"gmtModify":1703502356349,"author":{"id":"3582621934985429","authorId":"3582621934985429","name":"mcks","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a8e76bd8f2b7b42ceb5e2424c6eafc5c","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582621934985429","authorIdStr":"3582621934985429"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a Maybe.","content":"
Does the S&P 500's nearly 100% gain from last March's low have you a little worried about a pullback? You're not alone. Even though much of this move was a recovery from the steep sell-off sparked by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, much of it has also just been plain old bullishness ... perhaps a little too much. Stocks are still chugging along, but at times, it feels like the only thing keeping the rally going is its momentum. That's not good.
\n
If you're concerned the market bubble is going to pop soon, feel free to rip a few pages out of my personal playbook. Notice that none of them are particularly complicated moves.
\n
1. I'm scaling out of frothier, more speculative names
\n
I confess, some of the names I've picked up over the course of the past year or so aren't exactly the sorts of stocks I fully intended to hold for the long haul. They were closer to being bets than investments, which can be fun and rewarding but not exactly safe when the market starts to unravel. As the old adage goes, the higher they fly, the farther they fall. That's especially true when a company can't even come close to justifying its stock price with actual fundamentals. Yes, I'm looking at you, AMC Entertainment.
\n
Most investors innately know this is the smart-money move to make when the broad market is closer to a major high than a major low. Some investors, however, just need to hear someone else say it. I just did.
\n
2. I'm prioritizing cash over equities
\n
At first glance, this seems a lot like the aforementioned move -- backing off on my exposure to riskier equities. After all, if I'm selling anything, those proceeds are inherently turned into cash anyway.
\n
To be clear, however, I'm not merely swapping out my more speculative, vulnerable names for more reliable blue chips. I'm reducing my overall exposure to the market by converting a sizable stake of my holdings to cash.
\n
It's not always a fully understood (or even believed) facet of investing, but \"safe\" stocks like consumer goods names and utilities companies aren't actually protection from a correction. Shares of consumer packaged goods giant Procter & Gamble fell nearly 24% between last year's February high and March low when the coronavirus began to spread across the world, including within the U.S. Utility name The Southern Company fell 39% during this timeframe. Both recovered -- and then some -- but neither actually offered any true defense from sweeping weakness.
\n
The point is, during market corrections, there's really no place to hide. You'll just have to let the long-term holdings you're committed to take their lumps on faith they'll bounce back. If you don't have that faith with any particular stock, just replace it with cash until the dust settles.
\n
3. I'm adding (a little) gold
\n
While most stocks are going to be dragged lower by a market-wide correction, not every sort of holding is a stock. There are also bonds and commodities, which still trade independently of equities. That doesn't preclude them from pulling back if and when the stock market does. But if they do peel back, they're doing so independently of the broad market.
\n
I'm not bothering with bonds right now. Interest rates are pointlessly low, and with inflation seemingly on the verge of racing out of control, bonds are little more than a coin toss at this time anyway.
\n
Commodities, however, are a different story. If anything, they've become bigger movers against a rising inflation backdrop and a Federal Reserve that's being increasingly pressured to respond. Should stocks tank, commodities -- already pumped and primed -- may see a swell of demand that drives prices higher. The easiest way to plug into this dynamic is with a simple pick like the SPDR Gold Trust.
\n
4. Mostly, I'm doing nothing
\n
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I'm doing nothing about a possible market correction.
\n
You read that right.
\n
There are two schools of thought behind the decision to do nothing rather than trying to evade the impact of a correction. The first of these is the simple fact that most of my holdings really are long-haul positions I had (and have) every intention of hanging onto through bear markets. One of the greatest upsides of a legitimate buy-and-hold approach is that you don't even have to worry about temporary headwinds.
\n
The other idea at work here is the fact that guessing the market's next near-term reversal is just darn difficult to do ... so much so that most people don't do it very well. Indeed, the effort to time the stock market's peaks and valleys often does more harm than good, by virtue of getting you out too soon or too late, or getting you back in too soon or too late. The market's going to do what the market's going to do in its own time, and it's not going to telegraph what's around the corner to anyone. The best way to win that game is by not playing it at all.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
4 Ways I'm Preparing for the Stock Market Bubble to Burst
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n4 Ways I'm Preparing for the Stock Market Bubble to Burst\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-19 11:00 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Does the S&P 500's nearly 100% gain from last March's low have you a little worried about a pullback? But in a first, NIO’s peers delivered more cars in the month than the Chinese electric vehicle maker did.
\n
NIO (ticker: NIO) delivered 7,931 vehicles in July, down a little from the 8,083 vehicles delivered in June. Deliveries in the 8,000-range usually look good, but month-to-month declines are typically problematic for the stock.
\n
NIO deliveries dropped from January to February, from March to April, and from April to May. The stock dropped each time the sequential delivery drops were disclosed, falling about 13%, 1%, and 2%, respectively.
\n
That might not be the case this time. NIO shares have gained 2.6% on Monday, while S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average futures are down about 0.2% and 0.3%. The shares of NIO peers Li Auto(LI) and XPeng(XPEV) are both up between 0.9% and 5% on their own delivery numbers.
\n

\n
July was the first month NIO’s deliveries fell behind Li and XPeng’s totals since delivery numbers have become available, stretching back to May 2020. XPeng delivered 8,040 vehicles in July, a new monthly record and up from 6,565 vehicles delivered in June. Li delivered 8,589 vehicles, a monthly record for Li too, up from7,713 vehiclesdelivered in June.
\n
Citigroup analyst Jeff Chung blamed Tesla(TSLA) for the lackluster month-over-month numbers from NIO. The “trend for ES6 and EC6 is likely due to the recent price cut of Tesla’s Model Y,” wrote Chung in a Monday report. “But the company should be able to achieve our [2021- deliveries estimate of [93,000]units as long as it maintains monthly deliveries of [8,000 to 9,000] units.” Chung rates shares Buy and has a $72 price target for the stock.
\n
(The ES6 and EC6 are SUV/crossover vehicles similar to the Model Y.)
\n
In July, the three Chinese electric vehicle producers delivered roughly 24,500 vehicles combined. That’s up almost 10% compared with June and up about 190% over July 2020. The companies are, essentially, selling all the EVs they can make.
\n
NIO is still the largest, most valuable of the three, but its stock has lagged behind recently. NIO stock is up 12% over the past three months. XPeng stock has added 36%. Li shares have added 69%.
\n
Closing to Monday trading, NIO shares are down about 8% so far in 2021. But in a first, NIO’s peers delivered more cars in the month than the Chinese electric vehicle maker did.\nNIO (ticker: NIO) delivered 7,931 vehicles in July, down a little from the 8,083 vehicles delivered in June. Deliveries in the 8,000-range usually look good, but month-to-month declines are typically problematic for the stock.\nNIO deliveries dropped from January to February, from March to April, and from April to May. The stock dropped each time the sequential delivery drops were disclosed, falling about 13%, 1%, and 2%, respectively.\nThat might not be the case this time. NIO shares have gained 2.6% on Monday, while S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average futures are down about 0.2% and 0.3%. The shares of NIO peers Li Auto(LI) and XPeng(XPEV) are both up between 0.9% and 5% on their own delivery numbers.\n\nJuly was the first month NIO’s deliveries fell behind Li and XPeng’s totals since delivery numbers have become available, stretching back to May 2020. XPeng delivered 8,040 vehicles in July, a new monthly record and up from 6,565 vehicles delivered in June. Li delivered 8,589 vehicles, a monthly record for Li too, up from7,713 vehiclesdelivered in June.\nCitigroup analyst Jeff Chung blamed Tesla(TSLA) for the lackluster month-over-month numbers from NIO. The “trend for ES6 and EC6 is likely due to the recent price cut of Tesla’s Model Y,” wrote Chung in a Monday report. “But the company should be able to achieve our [2021- deliveries estimate of [93,000]units as long as it maintains monthly deliveries of [8,000 to 9,000] units.” Chung rates shares Buy and has a $72 price target for the stock.\n(The ES6 and EC6 are SUV/crossover vehicles similar to the Model Y.)\nIn July, the three Chinese electric vehicle producers delivered roughly 24,500 vehicles combined. That’s up almost 10% compared with June and up about 190% over July 2020. The companies are, essentially, selling all the EVs they can make.\nNIO is still the largest, most valuable of the three, but its stock has lagged behind recently. NIO stock is up 12% over the past three months. XPeng stock has added 36%. Li shares have added 69%.\nClosing to Monday trading, NIO shares are down about 8% so far in 2021. XPeng stock has rose 1% year to date. Li shares have added almost 17%.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":207,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":808124423,"gmtCreate":1627566128762,"gmtModify":1703492491365,"author":{"id":"3582621934985429","authorId":"3582621934985429","name":"mcks","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a8e76bd8f2b7b42ceb5e2424c6eafc5c","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582621934985429","authorIdStr":"3582621934985429"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment pls","listText":"Like and comment pls","text":"Like and comment pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/808124423","repostId":"1122445859","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1122445859","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1627560716,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1122445859?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-29 20:11","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Toplines Before US Market Open on Thursday","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1122445859","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"US futures mixed\n\n\nU.S. GDP increased 6.5% in the second quarter, well below expectations\n\nFutures t","content":"
\n
US futures mixed
\n
\n
\n
U.S. GDP increased 6.5% in the second quarter, well below expectations
\n
\n
Futures tracking the Dow and the S&P 500 rose on Thursday as comments from the Federal Reserve that the U.S. economic recovery was on track lifted economically sensitive stocks, while Ford jumped after raising its profit outlook for the year.
\n
At 8:00 a.m. ET, Dow e-minis were up 129 points, or 0.37%, S&P 500 e-minis were up 6.5 points, or 0.15%, and Nasdaq 100 e-minis were down 20.50 points, or 0.14%.
\n

\n
Facebook Inc fell 3% as it warned revenue growth would \"decelerate significantly\" following Apple Inc's(AAPL.O)recent update to its iOS operating system that would impact Facebook's ability to target ads.
\n
The U.S. economy accelerated at a strong pace in the second quarter in a sign that the U.S. has escaped the shackles of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Commerce Department reported Thursday.Gross domestic product, a measure of all goods and services produced during the April-to-June period, accelerated 6.4% on an annualized basis. However, the gain was considerably less than the 8.4% Dow Jones estimate.
\n
A separate data point reported Thursday showed that 400,000 people filed initial claims for unemployment benefits for the week ended July 24.
