The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite dipped 0.5%.
\n
Stocks extended their losses asSt. Louis Fed President Jim Bullard said on CNBCthat it was natural for the Fed to tilt a little \"hawkish\" this week and that the first rate increase from the central bank would likely come in 2022.
\n
Wall Street registered losses as the Federal Reserve on Wednesday afternoon added two rate hikes to its 2023 forecast and increased its inflation projection for the year.
\n
The decline in stocks came as the Fed's actions caused a drastic flattening of the so-called Treasury yield curve where the yields of shorter-duration Treasurys, like the 2-year note, rose, while longer duration yields, such as the benchmark 10-year, fell. The reforms, if finalized, would affect the largest companies in the world with profit margins of at least 10%.Looking ahead, the G-7 hopes to achieve a wider agreement on the new tax proposals next month at a gathering of the expanded G-20 finance ministers.Asked whetherAmazonandFacebookwould be among the companies targeted by the proposal, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said she believes they would \"qualify by almost any definition.\"Here's how America's tech giants reacted to the news:AmazonAmazon said the agreement \"marks a welcome step forward\" in efforts to \"bring stability to the international tax system.\"\"We hope to see discussions continue to advance with the broader G20 and Inclusive Framework alliance,\" an Amazon spokesperson told CNBC by email.FacebookNick Clegg, Facebook's vice president for global affairs, welcomed the G-7 deal and said the social networking giant \"has long called for reform of the global tax rules.\"The agreement is a \"significant first step towards certainty for businesses and strengthening public confidence in the global tax system,\" Clegg tweeted Saturday.\"We want the international tax reform process to succeed and recognize this could mean Facebook paying more tax, and in different places.\"GoogleA spokesperson forGoogletold Sky Newsthat the company strongly supported the initiative and hoped for a \"balanced and durable\" agreement.Applewasn't immediately available for a comment on the G-7 agreement when contacted by CNBC.The tech tax debateTech giants have long been criticized for paying little in taxes despite their size. Amazon and other companies have been accused of avoiding tax by shifting revenue and profits through tax havens or low-tax countries. The companies insist they’re doing nothing wrong from a legal standpoint, which is why policymakers are calling for reforms.Amazon infamously paid no U.S. federal income tax in 2018, despite booking more than $11 billion in profits. The low tax bill stemmed largely from tax cuts in 2017, carryforward losses from years when the company wasn’t profitable, and tax credits for massive research and development investment and share-based employee compensation. Some countries, such as Britain, France and Italy, have introduced a digital services tax in an effort to rake in more cash from large tech firms. The aim was to implement a solution for the interim while global officials hash out details for international tax rules. But this has led to friction with the United States, which under President Donald Trump’s administration threatened to impose tariffs on French goods over the issue.Meanwhile, some analysts have argued the dealdoesn’t go far enough, while others said there was a long road ahead.George Dibb, head of the Centre for Economic Justice at the London-based Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), described the deal as a “major step forward,” but said there were still “big questions” surrounding the minimum tax level.“We would like to see something a lot closer to 25%,” he told CNBC Monday.“The Biden administration came into these negotiations with an opening offer of 21% but I think the big fight at the G-7 over Friday and Saturday was over the wording, about whether it would say ’15%′ or ‘at least 15%’ and because we have that wording now of ‘at least 15%’ the door is still open for negotiation,” he told Squawk Box Europe.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":263,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":116482658,"gmtCreate":1622815573974,"gmtModify":1704191777413,"author":{"id":"3582838688159375","authorId":"3582838688159375","name":"Nightwing","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eee73b31aa0c67bc07e46fe474bb323e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582838688159375","idStr":"3582838688159375"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment please ","listText":"Like and comment please ","text":"Like and comment please","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/116482658","repostId":"1105681635","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1105681635","pubTimestamp":1622800841,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1105681635?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-04 18:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Top Robinhood Stocks Wall Street Thinks Will Soar 25% or More","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105681635","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Analysts expect one of them to skyrocket a lot more than 25%.","content":"
Robinhood investors like quite a few stocks that aren't exactly favorites for analysts. Rather than buy SNDL stock, I suggested investors consider High Tide (OTCMKTS:HITID) instead.
\n
Alas, a piece of news I overlooked when writing my May commentary could change my perception of Sundial.
\n
How so, you ask?
\n
I neglected to consider the company’s February investment and loan arrangement with London, Ontario-based Indiva Ltd. (OTCMKTS:NDVAF). Sundial bought 25 million Indiva shares at 44 cents CAD for an 11 million CAD investment in that deal. At the same time, it lent Indiva 11 million CAD at 9% interest. The loan matures on Feb. 23, 2024.
\n
For Sundial, it gets 18.45% of Indiva and almost 1 million CAD in annual interest payments. For Indiva, it gets expansion capital to grow its strong line of edibles, pre-rolls, flower and capsules. It’s a win/win.
\n
This, along with the May 5 news that Sundial would buy Inner Spirit Holdings (OTCMKTS:INSHF) for 131 million CAD ($108.5 million) in cash and stock, has me wondering if Sundial isn’t a good buy after all.
\n
While I am sold on Indiva’s edibles, I could have my cake and eat it too by buying Sundial stock, which would give me an indirect piece of Indiva.
\n
Should investors buy Sundial or Indiva? I’ll consider both sides of the argument.
\n
SNDL Stock and Retail Expansion
\n
Sundial paid 30 cents CAD in cash and issued 0.0835 of its shares for every Inner Spirit share. That’s the equivalent of 39 cents CAD, a 63% premium to the closing price the day before its announcement in May.
\n
Inner Spirit operates 86 cannabis stores across Canada under the Spiritleaf brand. It plans to open more than 30 stores in 2021. By the end of the year, it will have stores in six Canadian provinces, including Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
\n
Where I live in Nova Scotia, cannabis retail is controlled exclusively by the provincial government. Whereas, in Newfoundland, the government has gone with a hybrid system where Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corp. (NLC), a provincial crown corporation, controls the supply and distribution of cannabis in the province. It also regulates the private companies who obtained licenses to retail cannabis in the province.
\n
The NLC recently revealed some of the private retailers newly approved to sell cannabis. It plans to increase the number of stores in certain communities where demand justifies further expansion. Spiritleaf currently has three stores in Newfoundland.
\n
Spiritleaf’s Growth in Sales
\n
Interestingly, Spiritleaf has developed a franchise, asset-light business model that will expand much more quickly and with lower capital investment requirements. Its stores sell many of Canada’s best cannabis brands.
\n
In 2020, Spiritleaf had annua lsystem-wide retail sales of 105.3 million CAD, up from 29.4 million CAD a year earlier. After subtracting sales from its franchise stores, it generated 26.8 million CAD in 2020, up from 7.8 million CAD in 2019.
\n
It ended 2020 with 13 corporate stores and 55 franchise stores. By the end of March, it had 18 corporate stores open and eight pending, with 63 franchise stores open and another 27 pending, for 116.
\n
Based on system-wide sales, the average store generated 1.55 million CAD in 2020 (105.3 million CAD divided by 68 stores). It’s probably higher because I’m using the number at the end of the year. If I take the numbers at the beginning and end of 2020, I get 1.91 million CAD per store.
\n
As for Spiritleaf’s member benefits program, it gained 230,000 members from December 2019 through March 2021. That, too, is impressive.
\n
Based on 2020 adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of 3.4 million CAD ($2.8 million), Sundial is paying 39x adjusted EBITDA for Inner Spirit.
\n
By the end of 2021, I wouldn’t be surprised if that multiple was cut in half as Spiritleaf generates more revenue and greater non-GAAP profitability.
\n
What About Indiva?
\n
Between its Bhang chocolate and Wana gummies edibles – it has the Canadian manufacturing and distribution rights– Indiva has 46% of the edibles market in Canada. That’s got to be worth something.
\n
Sundial paid 44 cents CAD per share for its 18.45% interest in Indiva, so it’s currently breaking even. Based on its February investment, Indiva was valued at 60 million CAD ($49.7 million). Indiva had adjusted EBITDA in 2020 of -4.5 million CAD ($2.8 million). It’s got a ways to go before it’s making money.
\n
Both Indiva and Sundial have their pros and cons.
\n
I’m not sure Sundial paying almost 40x adjusted EBITDA was a good move. Sure, it’s now the largest private cannabis retailer in Canada, but with several provinces opting out of private ownership, its expansion possibilities will begin to dwindle at some point.
\n
As for Indiva, getting the Canadian rights to Wana was brilliant. However, Canada has a relatively small domestic adult-use cannabis market. The owners of Wana in the U.S. have a much bigger opportunity. Canada was probably an afterthought for them.
\n
More Intrigued About SNDL Stock
\n
While I’m more intrigued about Sundial than I was a month ago, I will have to study its business a little more before becoming a convert. As for Indiva, I love its branding. I think that will take it far in the Canadian market.
\n
At this point, if I were making a speculative bet, despite losing money, I’d choose Indiva. While the stock price increases have made Square an expensive stock, a growing competitive advantage the company is building on could help justify its expense.
\n
Just how overpriced is Square?
\n
By most measures, Square has become an expensive stock. It was boasting a P/E ratio of just over 305 at the time of this writing. The S&P 500's current P/E multiple of 45 pales in comparison, even though that index has reached multi-year highs. Square also trades far above archrival PayPal's (NASDAQ:PYPL) P/E ratio of 60.
\n
However, one reason Square has become expensive is its performance. Square's stock price has risen by 170% over the last year, compared with just over 70% gains for PayPal. Square's return increases to 430% when compared with the March 2020 low.
\n
SQ data by YCharts
\n
Still, recent financials appear to not justify such an earnings multiple. An accounting rule requiring the company to count the value of Bitcoin transactions as revenue skewed revenue figures. However, when not counting Bitcoin, revenue still rose 44% in the latest quarter from year-ago levels. Moreover, the $39 million profit came in much higher than the $106 million loss in the same quarter last year.
\n
Furthermore, the stock is in recovery mode since the pandemic brought falling profits in 2020. Revenue for 2020 still increased by 17% compared with fiscal 2019. Nonetheless, the company also experienced a 47% increase in operating expenses. Even with $292 million in income from non-core sources, net income fell to $213 million, a 43% reduction from last year's levels.
\n
Outside of increases in Cash App-related profit and operating expenses, Square did not publish forward guidance. Still, the predicted 167% increase in Cash App net income for the second quarter could comfort investors who paid the stock's current valuation.
\n
Also, before the pandemic, revenue increased 43% in fiscal 2019, and Square reported its first annual profit of $375 million that year. The 2019 revenue figure comes in near the revenue increase in Q1 2021, indicating pre-pandemic growth rates have returned. Additionally, such increases have led to a forward P/E of 145, a reduction that could ease the sting of Square's current valuation.
\n
Why investors should consider it despite the expense
\n
Despite recovering financials, Square may justify its expensive stock through a key competitive advantage: a more comprehensive finance ecosystem. Yes, PayPal reaches over 200 countries compared to Square's current five countries. PayPal also can manage most personal finance functions between PayPal and Venmo, which competes directly with Cash App.
\n
However, Square announced that it will soon open up to sellers in Ireland. Since this could easily take Square into the 18 other European Union countries that use the euro, investors should not discount Square's international aspirations.
\n
Moreover, PayPal does not offer the equivalent of Square Register or Square Payroll to handle business transactions and payroll, respectively. This means that only Square accommodates both individuals and businesses in its ecosystem.
\n
Furthermore, the most critical business-related function may pertain to its bank charter. As a bank, Square can make business loans without bringing in a third party. Additionally, according to Bloomberg, Square will soon offer business and checking accounts, meaning businesses that want to fully embrace fintech no longer need a traditional bank. That could spell further trouble for banks if Square starts offering these services to individuals.
\n
From the stockholder's perspective, this move could also lead to charges that Square will \"take over finance.\" That fear stands little chance of becoming reality, and investors should expect some banks to adapt and survive. Nonetheless, the perception could stoke investor interest in Square that comes at the expense of banks.
\n
Where Square stands
\n
Indeed, Square's current earnings multiple can undoubtedly put off investors. While the stock price increases have made Square an expensive stock, a growing competitive advantage the company is building on could help justify its expense.\nJust how overpriced is Square?\nBy most measures, Square has become an expensive stock. It was boasting a P/E ratio of just over 305 at the time of this writing. The S&P 500's current P/E multiple of 45 pales in comparison, even though that index has reached multi-year highs. Square also trades far above archrival PayPal's (NASDAQ:PYPL) P/E ratio of 60.\nHowever, one reason Square has become expensive is its performance. Square's stock price has risen by 170% over the last year, compared with just over 70% gains for PayPal. Square's return increases to 430% when compared with the March 2020 low.\nSQ data by YCharts\nStill, recent financials appear to not justify such an earnings multiple. An accounting rule requiring the company to count the value of Bitcoin transactions as revenue skewed revenue figures. However, when not counting Bitcoin, revenue still rose 44% in the latest quarter from year-ago levels. Moreover, the $39 million profit came in much higher than the $106 million loss in the same quarter last year.\nFurthermore, the stock is in recovery mode since the pandemic brought falling profits in 2020. Revenue for 2020 still increased by 17% compared with fiscal 2019. Nonetheless, the company also experienced a 47% increase in operating expenses. Even with $292 million in income from non-core sources, net income fell to $213 million, a 43% reduction from last year's levels.\nOutside of increases in Cash App-related profit and operating expenses, Square did not publish forward guidance. Still, the predicted 167% increase in Cash App net income for the second quarter could comfort investors who paid the stock's current valuation.\nAlso, before the pandemic, revenue increased 43% in fiscal 2019, and Square reported its first annual profit of $375 million that year. The 2019 revenue figure comes in near the revenue increase in Q1 2021, indicating pre-pandemic growth rates have returned. Additionally, such increases have led to a forward P/E of 145, a reduction that could ease the sting of Square's current valuation.\nWhy investors should consider it despite the expense\nDespite recovering financials, Square may justify its expensive stock through a key competitive advantage: a more comprehensive finance ecosystem. Yes, PayPal reaches over 200 countries compared to Square's current five countries. PayPal also can manage most personal finance functions between PayPal and Venmo, which competes directly with Cash App.\nHowever, Square announced that it will soon open up to sellers in Ireland. Since this could easily take Square into the 18 other European Union countries that use the euro, investors should not discount Square's international aspirations.\nMoreover, PayPal does not offer the equivalent of Square Register or Square Payroll to handle business transactions and payroll, respectively. This means that only Square accommodates both individuals and businesses in its ecosystem.\nFurthermore, the most critical business-related function may pertain to its bank charter. As a bank, Square can make business loans without bringing in a third party. Additionally, according to Bloomberg, Square will soon offer business and checking accounts, meaning businesses that want to fully embrace fintech no longer need a traditional bank. That could spell further trouble for banks if Square starts offering these services to individuals.\nFrom the stockholder's perspective, this move could also lead to charges that Square will \"take over finance.\" That fear stands little chance of becoming reality, and investors should expect some banks to adapt and survive. Nonetheless, the perception could stoke investor interest in Square that comes at the expense of banks.\nWhere Square stands\nIndeed, Square's current earnings multiple can undoubtedly put off investors. However, with its Cash App driving triple-digit percentage income growth and its growing finance ecosystem, it appears poised to bring profound change to its industry. As conditions stand now, it could easily win business from traditional banks and bring massive transformation to the industry. As it adds customers and expands to more countries, today's stock price may not appear expensive for long.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":497,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":132735856,"gmtCreate":1622114489675,"gmtModify":1704179699482,"author":{"id":"3582838688159375","authorId":"3582838688159375","name":"Nightwing","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eee73b31aa0c67bc07e46fe474bb323e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582838688159375","idStr":"3582838688159375"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment ","listText":"Like and comment ","text":"Like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/132735856","repostId":"1149867313","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":436,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":116482658,"gmtCreate":1622815573974,"gmtModify":1704191777413,"author":{"id":"3582838688159375","authorId":"3582838688159375","name":"Nightwing","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eee73b31aa0c67bc07e46fe474bb323e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582838688159375","idStr":"3582838688159375"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment please ","listText":"Like and comment please ","text":"Like and comment please","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/116482658","repostId":"1105681635","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1105681635","pubTimestamp":1622800841,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1105681635?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-04 18:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Top Robinhood Stocks Wall Street Thinks Will Soar 25% or More","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105681635","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Analysts expect one of them to skyrocket a lot more than 25%.","content":"
Robinhood investors like quite a few stocks that aren't exactly favorites for analysts. But this has led to friction with the United States, which under President Donald Trump’s administration threatened to impose tariffs on French goods over the issue.Meanwhile, some analysts have argued the dealdoesn’t go far enough, while others said there was a long road ahead.George Dibb, head of the Centre for Economic Justice at the London-based Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), described the deal as a “major step forward,” but said there were still “big questions” surrounding the minimum tax level.“We would like to see something a lot closer to 25%,” he told CNBC Monday.“The Biden administration came into these negotiations with an opening offer of 21% but I think the big fight at the G-7 over Friday and Saturday was over the wording, about whether it would say ’15%′ or ‘at least 15%’ and because we have that wording now of ‘at least 15%’ the door is still open for negotiation,” he told Squawk Box Europe.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":263,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":134979047,"gmtCreate":1622204384089,"gmtModify":1704181409011,"author":{"id":"3582838688159375","authorId":"3582838688159375","name":"Nightwing","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eee73b31aa0c67bc07e46fe474bb323e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582838688159375","idStr":"3582838688159375"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment ","listText":"Like and comment ","text":"Like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/134979047","repostId":"2138710402","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2138710402","pubTimestamp":1622202900,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2138710402?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-28 19:55","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Why Square's Stock Is So Expensive","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2138710402","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Square's growing competitive advantage could justify its expense.","content":"
More than a year out now from the start of the pandemic, Square's (NYSE:SQ) investors have prospered, benefitting from the accelerated digitization of retail, the renewed popularity of Bitcoin, and a relatively quick recovery in the fintech sector after the March 2020 sell-off.
An accounting rule requiring the company to count the value of Bitcoin transactions as revenue skewed revenue figures.
While the stock price increases have made Square an expensive stock, a growing competitive advantage the company is building on could help justify its expense.\nJust how overpriced is Square?\nBy most measures, Square has become an expensive stock. Shares have been flat over the past three months, while theSPDR Select Financial Sector ETFhas gained 8%.\nAnalyst Suneet Kamath downgraded the stock to neutral from buy, saying in a note to clients on Thursday that Voya had a lack of catalysts and “low hanging fruit” to boost shares.\n“We feel the VOYA story going forward will be more reliant on top-line growth, which could prove more challenging ahead given pressure on the Wealth Solutions and Investment Management units,” the note said.\nThe growth that Voya has generated in recent years doesn’t seem likely to drive continued strong performance going forward, Citi said.\n“Since 2018, we estimate that most of the normalized earnings growth came from Health Solutions, its smallest segment, and a lower Corporate loss, as Wealth Solutions and Investment Management have not grown materially, despite mostly positive flows and a tailwind from strong equity markets,” the note said.\nThe biggest risk to this downgrade, Citi said, is another company acquiring Voya. The firm trimmed $1 off of its price target on Voya to $72 per share, which is 12.5% above where the stock closed on Wednesday.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":247,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":110212788,"gmtCreate":1622458925344,"gmtModify":1704184700332,"author":{"id":"3582838688159375","authorId":"3582838688159375","name":"Nightwing","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eee73b31aa0c67bc07e46fe474bb323e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582838688159375","idStr":"3582838688159375"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment please ","listText":"Like and comment please ","text":"Like and comment please","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/110212788","repostId":"1199344801","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":774,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":113494305,"gmtCreate":1622631715707,"gmtModify":1704187680918,"author":{"id":"3582838688159375","authorId":"3582838688159375","name":"Nightwing","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eee73b31aa0c67bc07e46fe474bb323e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582838688159375","idStr":"3582838688159375"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment ","listText":"Like and comment ","text":"Like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/113494305","repostId":"1169477862","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":451,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":132735856,"gmtCreate":1622114489675,"gmtModify":1704179699482,"author":{"id":"3582838688159375","authorId":"3582838688159375","name":"Nightwing","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eee73b31aa0c67bc07e46fe474bb323e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582838688159375","idStr":"3582838688159375"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment ","listText":"Like and comment ","text":"Like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/132735856","repostId":"1149867313","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1149867313","pubTimestamp":1622109491,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1149867313?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-27 17:58","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Here's How Much Gains Cathie Wood Has Missed Out On This Month By Selling Virgin Galactic Stock","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1149867313","media":"benzinga","summary":"Cathie Wood-led Ark Investment Managementdumped all of its stakein Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc in t","content":"
Cathie Wood-led Ark Investment Managementdumped all of its stakein Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc in tranches this month, shedding nearly 2 million shares in the space tourism company and missing out on a rocket-like rally.

What Happened:Virgin Galactic shares have soared about 35.4% since Ark's first SPCE trade this month on May 6.

Between May 6 and May 25, Wood's hedge fund has sold about 1.96 million shares.

An average price of $18.78 per share is estimated based on the closing price of each of these trading days, fetching the investment firm about $36.77 million.

The same shares would be worth $52.85 million as per Thursday's closing price, implying Ark missed out on about $16 million in gains on the stock.

Why It Matters:The investment firm held the shares of the Richard Branson-founded company via the Ark Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF(BATS:ARKQ) and the recently floated Ark Space Exploration & Innovation ETF(BATS:ARKX).

The space tourism company over the weekend announced ithad completedits third spaceflight and the first-ever spaceflight from Spaceport America, New Mexico bringing it one step closer to the commercial launch of its space services.

SPCE competes with Blue Origin, the privately held space venture founded by Amazon.com Inc CEO Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk-led SpaceX.

The popular fund, known for its investment in Tesla Inc and the recent bets on cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase Global Inc , started diluting Virgin Galactic stake last month after an initialbullishstreak.

Branson last monthsoldnearly $150 million worth of shares of the space tourism company and still holds 56.8 million shares in Virgin Galactic.

Price Action:SPCE shares closed 5.55% higher at $27 on Wednesday.
","source":"lsy1606299360108","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html;
