The problem is, one of the biggest factors supporting NVIDIA's business (and its stock price) in recent years has been the demand for its chips for use in machines mining cryptocurrencies such as<b>bitcoin</b>(CRYPTO:BTC). Mizuho now sees NVIDIA earning as much as $16.12 per share this year and $17.70 next year.</p>\n<p>Be that as it may, and even taking Mizuho's projections at face value, at a projected valuation of nearly 43 times forward earnings and a near-term earnings growth rate of 10%, I think I'm going to have to side with the skeptics on this one.NVIDIA stock looks overpriced, and the investors selling it today ... are making the right call.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0d07bf0013f24819eee6e7d59879d3c9\" tg-width=\"840\" tg-height=\"470\"></p>","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; charset=utf-8\" />\n<meta name=\"viewport\" content=\"width=device-width,initial-scale=1.0,minimum-scale=1.0,maximum-scale=1.0,user-scalable=no\"/>\n<meta name=\"format-detection\" content=\"telephone=no,email=no,address=no\" />\n<title>Why NVIDIA Stock Just Dropped 4%</title>\n<style type=\"text/css\">\na,abbr,acronym,address,applet,article,aside,audio,b,big,blockquote,body,canvas,caption,center,cite,code,dd,del,details,dfn,div,dl,dt,\nem,embed,fieldset,figcaption,figure,footer,form,h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6,header,hgroup,html,i,iframe,img,ins,kbd,label,legend,li,mark,menu,nav,\nobject,ol,output,p,pre,q,ruby,s,samp,section,small,span,strike,strong,sub,summary,sup,table,tbody,td,tfoot,th,thead,time,tr,tt,u,ul,var,video{ font:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;vertical-align:baseline;border:0 }\nbody{ font-size:16px; line-height:1.5; color:#999; background:transparent; }\n.wrapper{ overflow:hidden;word-break:break-all;padding:10px; }\nh1,h2{ font-weight:normal; line-height:1.35; margin-bottom:.6em; }\nh3,h4,h5,h6{ line-height:1.35; margin-bottom:1em; }\nh1{ font-size:24px; }\nh2{ font-size:20px; }\nh3{ font-size:18px; }\nh4{ font-size:16px; }\nh5{ font-size:14px; }\nh6{ font-size:12px; }\np,ul,ol,blockquote,dl,table{ margin:1.2em 0; }\nul,ol{ margin-left:2em; }\nul{ list-style:disc; }\nol{ list-style:decimal; }\nli,li p{ margin:10px 0;}\nimg{ max-width:100%;display:block;margin:0 auto 1em; }\nblockquote{ color:#B5B2B1; border-left:3px solid #aaa; padding:1em; }\nstrong,b{font-weight:bold;}\nem,i{font-style:italic;}\ntable{ width:100%;border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:1px;margin:1em 0;font-size:.9em; }\nth,td{ padding:5px;text-align:left;border:1px solid #aaa; }\nth{ font-weight:bold;background:#5d5d5d; }\n.symbol-link{font-weight:bold;}\n/* header{ border-bottom:1px solid #494756; } */\n.title{ margin:0 0 8px;line-height:1.3;color:#ddd; }\n.meta {color:#5e5c6d;font-size:13px;margin:0 0 .5em; }\na{text-decoration:none; color:#2a4b87;}\n.meta .head { display: inline-block; overflow: hidden}\n.head .h-thumb { width: 30px; height: 30px; margin: 0; padding: 0; border-radius: 50%; float: left;}\n.head .h-content { margin: 0; padding: 0 0 0 9px; float: left;}\n.head .h-name {font-size: 13px; color: #eee; margin: 0;}\n.head .h-time {font-size: 11px; color: #7E829C; margin: 0;line-height: 11px;}\n.small {font-size: 12.5px; display: inline-block; transform: scale(0.9); -webkit-transform: scale(0.9); transform-origin: left; -webkit-transform-origin: left;}\n.smaller {font-size: 12.5px; display: inline-block; transform: scale(0.8); -webkit-transform: scale(0.8); transform-origin: left; -webkit-transform-origin: left;}\n.bt-text {font-size: 12px;margin: 1.5em 0 0 0}\n.bt-text p {margin: 0}\n</style>\n</head>\n<body>\n<div class=\"wrapper\">\n<header>\n<h2 class=\"title\">\nWhy NVIDIA Stock Just Dropped 4%\n</h2>\n\n<h4 class=\"meta\">\n\n\n2021-07-16 06:17 GMT+8 <a href=https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/07/15/why-nvidia-stock-just-dropped-4/><strong>Motley Fool</strong></a>\n\n\n</h4>\n\n</header>\n<article>\n<div>\n<p>Mizuho says NVIDIA is worth $900. The Kuaishou offering was the biggest IPO globally so far this year.</p><p>Eight cornerstone investors have committed to buy a total of US$1.5 billion worth of JD Logistics shares, which would account for about 39 per cent of its global offering if the deal is priced at the top end.</p><p>The investors include Softbank, Singapore sovereign wealth fund Temasek Holdings, China Structural Reform Fund and asset managers such as Blackstone, Tiger Global Management and others.</p><p>BofA Securities, Goldman Sachs and Haitong International are acting as joint sponsors on the transaction, while UBS is serving as a financial adviser.</p><p>Assuming the deal is priced at the top end, JD Logistics' market capitalisation would be HK$264.1 billion, valuing it higher than ZTO Express.</p><p>Shanghai-based ZTO, which counts Alibaba Group Holding as one of its shareholders, had a market capitalisation of HK$180.7 billion when it listed in Hong Kong through a secondary listing last September. The Beijing-based firm said in its prospectus that it expects a bigger net loss for this year, after racking up losses of 2.8 billion yuan (US$435 million) in 2018, 2.2 billion yuan in 2019 and 4 billion yuan in 2020.</p><p>\"As we currently prioritise growth of our business and expansion of our market share over profitability, there can be significant fluctuations in our profitability profile in the near-to-medium term,\" the company said in its draft prospectus.</p><p>JD Logistics is seeking to differentiate itself from other players, such as ZTO and Yunda Holding, by touting itself as a technology-driven logistic services provider using autonomous mobile robots, sorting robots and self-driving vehicles to enhance delivery speed and accuracy.</p><p>Pitching the stock sale with a tech angle could help JD Logistics paint a more positive outlook. And some companies' profit gains are likely to be enormous.","content":"<p>S&P 500 investors are waiting for banner profit reports to kick off this week. And some companies' profit gains are likely to be more enormous than others.</p>\n<p>Analysts expect 10 S&P 500 companies, including health care <b>Zimmer Biomet</b>, energy firm <b>Freeport-McMoRan</b> and consumer discretionary firm <b>Chipotle Mexican Grill</b>, to post massive adjusted profit per share growth of 1,000% or much more for the second quarter. And that would make these companies S&P 500 standouts in a quarter already expected to be a massive <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> for profit growth, says an Investor's Business Daily analysis of data from S&P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSmith.</p>\n<p>\"We ran out of superlatives to describe corporate America's stunning performance during first-quarter earnings season,\" said Jeff Buchbinder, equity strategist at LPL Financial. \"So what will companies do for an encore? We expect more good news this quarter as more of the economy has opened up, while also acknowledging the second quarter will almost certainly end up being the peak in earnings growth for this cycle.\"</p>\n<p>Profit reports kick off this week with the banks. And what a peak it'll be for S&P 50o profit.</p>\n<h2>S&P 500 Headed To Amazing Quarterly Profit</h2>\n<p>Companies in the S&P 500 are expected to post moonshot quarterly profit growth of 64% in the second quarter, says John Butters, earnings analyst at FactSet. If that's right, it would be the largest quarterly profit posted by the S&P 500 in more than a decade, Butters says.</p>\n<p>Profits are soaring back as the U.S. economy is reopening, jobs are plentiful and companies and consumers have lots of money to spend. And the speed of the economy's rebound surprised most people. Analysts bumped up their profit forecasts for the quarter 7.2% since the end of March through June 30. That's the largest upward profit growth forecast boost since FactSet has tracked it going back to 2002, Butters says.</p>\n<p>Skeptics might think this is just wishful thinking. But early indications show there's reason to be optimistic. Already 66 S&P 500 companies, also a record, said second-quarter profit will top their earlier targets.</p>\n<p>So how you stand out when most companies' profits are booming? Just ask 10 S&P 500 outliers.</p>\n<h2>Putting Up 1,000% Or More Profit Growth</h2>\n<p>Scanning the S&P 500, Zimmer Biomet is the company to beat in terms of profit growth. Analysts think it will earn $1.86 a share on an adjusted basis in the second quarter. That's up more than 3,600% from what it earned in the same period a year ago.</p>\n<p>The company makes a variety of orthopedic products like hip and knee replacements. Demand for such goods is expected to be strong as many people now get the optional procedures they put off during the pandemic. Zimmer Biomet reports its second quarter profit on Aug. 3. Shares are only up 3.8% this year so far.</p>\n<p>Energy, though, is an area where profits and share prices are booming. Shares of copper miner Freeport-McMoRan are up more than 40% as investors anticipate an amazing quarter for profits. Analysts are calling for the company to earn nearly 74 cents a share in the second quarter, up more than 2,350% from the same year-ago period. Such strong fundamentals paired with a rising stock price explain the lofty 93 IBD Composite Rating. The company reports on July 22.</p>\n<p>And when it comes to a high Composite Rating, look at Chipotle. The burrito chain sports a near perfect IBD Composite Rating of 98. Shares are up 16.5% this year, roughly in line with the S&P 500. But get ready for a hot-red quarter of profit growth. Analysts think it will report second-quarter profit growth of more than 1,517% or $6.47 a share. Chipotle reports on July 20.</p>\n<p>So while it's going to be a powerful period of growth for the S&P 500, it's still possible to beat the average.</p>\n<h2>A Bonanza Of Profit Is Coming</h2>\n<p><i>Analysts see 1,000% or more profit growth from these S&P 500 companies in the second quarter</i></p>\n<table>\n <thead>\n <tr>\n <th>Company</th>\n <th>Ticker</th>\n <th>Q2 EPS % Ch.</th>\n <th>Primary Sector</th>\n <th>Composite Rating</th>\n <th>% stock YTD ch.</th>\n </tr>\n </thead>\n <tbody>\n <tr>\n <td>Zimmer Biomet</td>\n <td></td>\n <td><b>3,620.0%</b></td>\n <td>Health Care</td>\n <td>39</td>\n <td>3.8%</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>Freeport-McMoRan</td>\n <td></td>\n <td><b>2,353.3%</b></td>\n <td>Materials</td>\n <td>93</td>\n <td>40.4%</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>Hasbro</td>\n <td></td>\n <td><b>2,285.0%</b></td>\n <td>Consumer Discretionary</td>\n <td>67</td>\n <td>4.9%</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/SYF\">Synchrony Financial</a></td>\n <td></td>\n <td><b>2,150.0%</b></td>\n <td>Financials</td>\n <td>88</td>\n <td>40.4%</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>W. The theater chain became an investor favorite and meme stock that pushed shares dramatically higher. If not for massive dilution and multiple high interest rate debt offerings, the company would have easily gone bankrupt during the pandemic. While the year didn't look like it was going to end well for AMC, a superhero appeared that may help short term sentiment.</p><p>As I had detailed throughout the quarter and into mid-December, the domestic box office was not looking good. AMC needed $2 billion in box office grosses to get its adjusted cash burn metric to be positive. With just two weeks left in the quarter, projections had the domestic box office under $1.54 billion if the Q4 to date run rate held. I said previously that it would all come down to<i>Spider-Man: No Way Home</i>, and the movie definitely saved the day as the chart below shows.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/65e7356981cdd78888d9eab3ae945db0\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"400\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/><span>Data sourced from Box Office Mojo stats</span></p><p>For Q4, total grosses according to the site above came in over $2.06 billion. That should help to limit AMC's overall cash burn in the quarter, and maybe even gives the company a chance at being slightly cash flow positive. It may all come down to timing, however, as more than $775 million of the total quarterly domestic box office gross came in the last 15 days. Throw in the holidays, and some sizable cash inflows or outflows may not have happened until early January, which would impact Q4's figures.</p><p>Depending on how some of the balance sheet items finished the year, it will be interesting to see if the company's working capital balance turns negative. AMC remains in a large net debt situation as the table below shows, only having been saved by massive dilution and high interest rate debt deals. For this company to get its financial situation in order, shareholders will need to approve an increase to the share count so that more capital can be raised through equity. The theater chain became an investor favorite and meme stock that pushed shares dramatically higher. If not for massive dilution and multiple high interest rate debt offerings, the company would have easily gone bankrupt during the pandemic. While the year didn't look like it was going to end well for AMC, a superhero appeared that may help short term sentiment. As I had detailed throughout the quarter and into mid-December, the domestic box office was not looking good. AMC needed $2 billion in box office grosses to get its adjusted cash burn metric to be positive. With just two weeks left in the quarter, projections had the domestic box office under $1.54 billion if the Q4 to date run rate held. I said previously that it would all come down toSpider-Man: No Way Home, and the movie definitely saved the day as the chart below shows.Data sourced from Box Office Mojo statsFor Q4, total grosses according to the site above came in over $2.06 billion. That should help to limit AMC's overall cash burn in the quarter, and maybe even gives the company a chance at being slightly cash flow positive. It may all come down to timing, however, as more than $775 million of the total quarterly domestic box office gross came in the last 15 days. Throw in the holidays, and some sizable cash inflows or outflows may not have happened until early January, which would impact Q4's figures.Depending on how some of the balance sheet items finished the year, it will be interesting to see if the company's working capital balance turns negative. AMC remains in a large net debt situation as the table below shows, only having been saved by massive dilution and high interest rate debt deals. These two stocks represent, if not failing businesses, at least ailing ones; companies that struggled to keep up with the new economy even before the pandemic shut down large swaths of it. Yet over the past few months they have posted some of the most volatile gains and losses on the market.</p>\n<p>How?</p>\n<p>It’s down to what Real Money's Timothy Collins calls the market of “meme stock hyperbole.” But, he writes, is it really all that different from how trading has always worked?</p>\n<p>Have you ever really thought about the phrases 'to the moon' or 'conviction buy,' and how they mess with out perception of fair value?</p>\n<p>\"Initially, I rolled my eyes at the continued use of the phrase 'To The Moon,'\" Collins says. \"It's not like 'Strong Buy with a price target of $65', for instance. 'To the moon' is completely arbitrary and open to interpretation, but then again so are most things about valuation, when you think about it,\" Collins wrote.</p>\n<p>\"For instance, when an analyst pounds the table on a stock, how is that different from 'to the moon?' Or when someone says, 'all in.' Are they really all in? Did they cash in all their assets, pool the liquidity, and buy every share they possibly could? Probably not. Actually, I'd say definitely not 99.9999% of the time. Of course, there's always that one person,\" Collins said.</p>\n<p>\"But the point isWall Street has been arbitraryfor years. Investing in AMC Entertainment (AMC) did the exact same thing. These two stocks represent, if not failing businesses, at least ailing ones; companies that struggled to keep up with the new economy even before the pandemic shut down large swaths of it. Yet over the past few months they have posted some of the most volatile gains and losses on the market.\nHow?\nIt’s down to what Real Money's Timothy Collins calls the market of “meme stock hyperbole.” But, he writes, is it really all that different from how trading has always worked?\nHave you ever really thought about the phrases 'to the moon' or 'conviction buy,' and how they mess with out perception of fair value?\n\"Initially, I rolled my eyes at the continued use of the phrase 'To The Moon,'\" Collins says. \"It's not like 'Strong Buy with a price target of $65', for instance. 'To the moon' is completely arbitrary and open to interpretation, but then again so are most things about valuation, when you think about it,\" Collins wrote.\n\"For instance, when an analyst pounds the table on a stock, how is that different from 'to the moon?' Or when someone says, 'all in.' Are they really all in? Did they cash in all their assets, pool the liquidity, and buy every share they possibly could? Probably not. Actually, I'd say definitely not 99.9999% of the time. Of course, there's always that one person,\" Collins said.\n\"But the point isWall Street has been arbitraryfor years. We can't even have a standard rating system. Is it 'Neutral' or 'Hold?' And really, do I want to hold something that is only in the middle of your range? No.\"\nCollins writes, \"The system should be 'buy' or 'sell.' That's it. Black or white.
