(Getty Images/iStockphoto)</span></p>\n<p>U.S. investors remain bullish, despite rumblings out of China and the spike in delta variant infections.</p>\n<p>Cloud companies — those at the forefront of the shift in computing power to distributed models over the internet — are expected to grow at a rapid clip over the next several years, and four of the five largest exchange traded funds covering the space are close to hitting record highs.</p>\n<p>Below is a screen of stocks held by those ETFs, showing which are expected to increase their sales the most through 2023. In an industry with many players at relatively early stages, increases in sales, rather than in earnings, might be the best driver of stock prices.</p>\n<p>To begin the screen, we looked at the five largest cloud ETFs:</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/36209ce827d95e822cad5128be8b146a\" tg-width=\"933\" tg-height=\"664\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Source: FactSet</span></p>\n<p>ETFs might be your best way to take a broad approach for a long-term play on the cloud revolution. If you are interested in any ETF, you should review the fund manager’s website.</p>\n<p>Here’s a comparison of total returns through Aug. 4, along with those for the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF&nbsp;and the Invesco QQQ Trust&nbsp;(which tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index) for comparison:</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/242f135b3c7cca3cbaae3ee574023c1f\" tg-width=\"942\" tg-height=\"577\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Source: FactSet</span></p>\n<p>The ETFs’ approaches differ. For example, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF&nbsp;is the only one that is actively managed. The others track an index. It is also the only one that holds shares of Tesla Inc.,which makes up 10.65% of the portfolio, according to information posted by ARK Invest on Aug. 5. Tesla is an electric-vehicle manufacturer, but it can also be considered a cloud company because it distributes software updates over the internet continually, and offers other cloud-based services.</p>\n<p>Another holding unique to ARKW among the five cloud ETFs is Walt Disney Co.,which is certainly an important cloud player through its Disney+ streaming service, even if the company doesn’t say directly how much of its sales are derived from that rapidly growing segment.</p>\n<p>As part of its description of ARKW, FactSet says the following:</p>\n<p><i>“Broadly speaking, the ARKW’s managers appear focused on big buzzwords such as Internet of Things, cloud computing, digital currencies and wearable technology. While the fund’s focus may be appealing for investors with conviction in these new technologies, portfolio implementation is a more difficult task: Most of the companies developing these advancements are huge corporations for which nascent technologies are only a small fraction of total revenues. As such, it’s very difficult to get pure-play access to ARKW’s targeted technologies — so be sure to confirm that the fund’s holdings — not just its thesis — align with your view of the space.”</i></p>\n<p><b>Cloud-stock screen</b></p>\n<p>Together, the five cloud ETFs listed above hold 147 stocks. To project sales growth through 2023, we used calendar 2020 sales estimates as a baseline and then looked at consensus estimates among analysts polled by FactSet for the subsequent three years, if available. (The 2020 numbers are estimates, because many companies’ fiscal years don’t match the calendar.)</p>\n<p>To make sure we had a solid set of estimates, we confined the group to the 126 companies covered by at least five analysts polled by FactSet, for which consensus sales estimates for calendar 2020 through calendar 2023 are available.</p>\n<p>Here are the 20 companies projected to have the highest compound annual growth rates (CAGR) for sales through calendar 2023:</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/517a23591cde159fb889ab80abc4bcc6\" tg-width=\"934\" tg-height=\"765\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6af2cf5b5f9f0ce50f8f023ac7babc7f\" tg-width=\"935\" tg-height=\"717\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"></p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b88ebe72e09cb9ce3294269f0a4ae431\" tg-width=\"935\" tg-height=\"403\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Source: FactSet</span></p>\n<p>There are actually 21 stocks listed, including Zillow Group Inc.’s Class A&nbsp;and Class C&nbsp;shares.</p>\n<p>It is interesting to see that the list is dominated by stocks held by ARKW. (Getty Images/iStockphoto)\nU.S. investors remain bullish, despite rumblings out of China and the spike in delta variant infections.\nCloud companies — those at the forefront of the shift in computing power to distributed models over the internet — are expected to grow at a rapid clip over the next several years, and four of the five largest exchange traded funds covering the space are close to hitting record highs.\nBelow is a screen of stocks held by those ETFs, showing which are expected to increase their sales the most through 2023. In an industry with many players at relatively early stages, increases in sales, rather than in earnings, might be the best driver of stock prices.\nTo begin the screen, we looked at the five largest cloud ETFs:\nSource: FactSet\nETFs might be your best way to take a broad approach for a long-term play on the cloud revolution. If you are interested in any ETF, you should review the fund manager’s website.\nHere’s a comparison of total returns through Aug. 4, along with those for the SPDR S&P 500 ETF and the Invesco QQQ Trust (which tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index) for comparison:\nSource: FactSet\nThe ETFs’ approaches differ. For example, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF is the only one that is actively managed. The others track an index. It is also the only one that holds shares of Tesla Inc.,which makes up 10.65% of the portfolio, according to information posted by ARK Invest on Aug. 5. Tesla is an electric-vehicle manufacturer, but it can also be considered a cloud company because it distributes software updates over the internet continually, and offers other cloud-based services.\nAnother holding unique to ARKW among the five cloud ETFs is Walt Disney Co.,which is certainly an important cloud player through its Disney+ streaming service, even if the company doesn’t say directly how much of its sales are derived from that rapidly growing segment.\nAs part of its description of ARKW, FactSet says the following:\n“Broadly speaking, the ARKW’s managers appear focused on big buzzwords such as Internet of Things, cloud computing, digital currencies and wearable technology. While the fund’s focus may be appealing for investors with conviction in these new technologies, portfolio implementation is a more difficult task: Most of the companies developing these advancements are huge corporations for which nascent technologies are only a small fraction of total revenues. As such, it’s very difficult to get pure-play access to ARKW’s targeted technologies — so be sure to confirm that the fund’s holdings — not just its thesis — align with your view of the space.”\nCloud-stock screen\nTogether, the five cloud ETFs listed above hold 147 stocks. To project sales growth through 2023, we used calendar 2020 sales estimates as a baseline and then looked at consensus estimates among analysts polled by FactSet for the subsequent three years, if available. (The 2020 numbers are estimates, because many companies’ fiscal years don’t match the calendar.)\nTo make sure we had a solid set of estimates, we confined the group to the 126 companies covered by at least five analysts polled by FactSet, for which consensus sales estimates for calendar 2020 through calendar 2023 are available.\nHere are the 20 companies projected to have the highest compound annual growth rates (CAGR) for sales through calendar 2023:\n\nSource: FactSet\nThere are actually 21 stocks listed, including Zillow Group Inc.’s Class A and Class C shares.\nIt is interesting to see that the list is dominated by stocks held by ARKW. UnitedHealth</h3>\n<p>Health insurance company UnitedHealth only pays out 34% of its earnings to shareholders. Its modest payout ratio gives the company plenty of room to make aggressive dividend hikes in the future. And in the past five years, its dividend payments have more than doubled from $0.625 to $1.45.</p>\n<p>The company can afford to do that because from 2016 to 2020, its diluted per-share profit also grew at a great pace, from $7.25 to $16.03. And UnitedHealth is still working on ways to grow its business; earlier this year, it announced it would be acquiring tech and analytics company Change Healthcare for $13 billion. Last year, it acquired full-service pharmacy Divvydose for over $300 million; the company is a rival to <b>Amazon</b>'s PillPack.</p>\n<p>UnitedHealth's dividend yield of 1.4% today is right in line with the&nbsp;<b>S&amp;P 500&nbsp;</b>average. But for investors willing to buy and hold the stock for years, they could be earning a lot more from the dividend in the future. UnitedHealth is an industry leader, and the healthcare stock could be an excellent pillar for your portfolio for not just years, but decades.</p>\n<h3>2. Apple</h3>\n<p>Apple is known for being a top tech stock, but investors shouldn't overlook the dividend. While investors may not take a yield of 0.6% seriously, that low percentage has a lot to do with just how well the stock price has been doing in recent years. Since 2018, shares of Apple have risen 245%, well above both the S&amp;P 500's returns (65%) and UnitedHealth's (88%).</p>\n<p>A rising share price can bring down the yield if it grows at a faster rate than the dividend, which Apple's stock has. The company's current quarterly dividend of $0.22 is 54% higher than the $0.1425 split-adjusted dividend it was paying five years ago.</p>\n<p>The company reported its most recent results last month, and for the period ending June 26, its net sales of $81 million grew 36% year over year. And its diluted earnings per share of $1.30 was double the $0.65 it posted in the same period of 2020. If Apple were to maintain this level of profitability, its payout ratio would be a minuscule 17%.</p>\n<p>Although the company is growing its streaming business and spends money on share buybacks, there is still ample room for Apple to boost its dividend. Its dividend payments over the past nine months totaled just under $11 million. Even when reducing the $84 million in cash Apple generated from its operations by its investing-related expenditures of $15 million, the company's dividend payments still account for less than <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a>-sixth of the cash left over.</p>\n<p>Share buybacks of $66 million were where the bulk of Apple's money went after investments and will likely remain a priority moving forward. But if the business can continue growing its bottom line, and there's little reason to doubt that it will as it expands and invests in its streaming business, more hikes are likely in the cards for investors.</p>\n<h3>3. Visa</h3>\n<p>Credit card company Visa is another dividend growth stock with a modest yield. At 0.5%, it has the lowest yield on the list, but it has been aggressively increasing its payouts in recent years. At $0.32, the current quarterly payments are more than double the $0.14 that Visa was paying its shareholders five years ago. And with a great bottom line and payout ratio of only 11%, there's little doubt that more dividend increases are on the way.</p>\n<p>The company's profit margin over the trailing 12 months has been 48% of its revenue, which isn't unusual for Visa as its high-margin business leaves lots of room for incremental revenue to flow through to the bottom line. With the global economy looking to rebound from the pandemic, the future could look even stronger for Visa as pent-up demand may lead to a surge in spending.</p>\n<p>And things are already looking up. Through the first two quarters of 2021, real GDP has been growing at more than 6%. By comparison, in the first quarter of 2019 the growth rate was just 3.1%, and that was above the 2.2% growth the economy generated in the previous period.</p>\n<p>Investing in Visa is a great way to bet on the health of the economy, and it also makes for a solid long-term investment. This architecture put AMD ahead of Intel in performance for the first time in a decade, and it has helped the perennial No. 2 PC chip maker into a fast-growing contender against Intel.</p>\n<p>Intel, meanwhile, has had stumbles not only on the chip design side but also in manufacturing, where it has lost its technological advantage to rivals such as TSMC, which makes both processors and graphics chips for AMD. As a result, AMD has been making historic market share gains for the past three years. What’s interesting is AMD has been making these gains amid a historic chip shortage driven by the supply whipsaw from the pandemic and unprecedented demand for electronic goods.</p>\n<p>“Our business performed exceptionally well in the second quarter as revenue and operating margin doubled and profitability more than tripled year-over-year,” AMD CEO Lisa Su said in a statement. “We are growing significantly faster than the market with strong demand across all of our businesses. We now expect our 2021 annual revenue to grow by approximately 60% year-over-year driven by strong execution and increased customer preference for our leadership products.”</p>\n<p>Intel, meanwhile, is doubling down on its manufacturing investments as a way to stay competitive and take advantage of the chip boom and supply shortage.</p>\n<h4>Quarterly financial segment summary</h4>\n<p>Computing and graphics segment revenue was $2.25 billion, up 65% year-over-year and 7% quarter-over-quarter driven by higher client and graphics processor sales. Client processor average selling price (ASP) grew year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter driven by a richer mix of Ryzen desktop and notebook processor sales. It was the fifth straight quarter of record processor revenue.</p>\n<p>Graphics processing unit (GPU) ASP grew year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter driven by high-end graphics product sales, including datacenter GPU sales. Operating income was $526 million, compared to $200 million a year ago and $485 million in the prior quarter. The increases were primarily driven by higher revenue.</p>\n<p>Enterprise, embedded, and semi-custom segment revenue was $1.6 billion, up 183% year-over-year and 19% quarter-over-quarter. The increases were driven by higher Epyc processor revenue and semi-custom product sales. The semi-custom products include processors for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S game consoles.</p>\n<h4>Optimistic Revenue Outlook on Strong Demand</h4>\n<p>AMD gave a bullish third-quarter sales forecast, indicating it’s gaining market share from Intel Corp. in the lucrative market for server chips.</p>\n<p>AMD, the second-largest maker of computer processors behind Intel, predicted third-quarter revenue will be about $4.1 billion, plus or minus $100 million. On average, analysts had projected revenue of $3.8 billion. The company also raised its annual outlook and now expects revenue to increase by 60% up from a previous forecast for 50% growth.</p>\n<p>Chief Executive Officer Lisa Su has brought the company back from the brink of irrelevance with a raft of new products that customers see as competitive with Intel’s offerings for the first time in years. Investors have poured money into AMD’s stock over the last five years, expecting Su’s changes to result in higher market share and earnings.</p>\n<p>“We are growing significantly faster than the market with strong demand across all of our businesses,” Su said in a statement.</p>\n<p>AMD’s earnings report Tuesday indicates the company is taking market share at Intel’s expense. Intel, the world’s largest superconductor manufacturer, reported a 6% decline in second-quarter revenue. (Getty Images/iStockphoto)</span></p>\n<p>U.S. investors remain bullish, despite rumblings out of China and the spike in delta variant infections.</p>\n<p>Cloud companies — those at the forefront of the shift in computing power to distributed models over the internet — are expected to grow at a rapid clip over the next several years, and four of the five largest exchange traded funds covering the space are close to hitting record highs.</p>\n<p>Below is a screen of stocks held by those ETFs, showing which are expected to increase their sales the most through 2023. In an industry with many players at relatively early stages, increases in sales, rather than in earnings, might be the best driver of stock prices.</p>\n<p>To begin the screen, we looked at the five largest cloud ETFs:</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/36209ce827d95e822cad5128be8b146a\" tg-width=\"933\" tg-height=\"664\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Source: FactSet</span></p>\n<p>ETFs might be your best way to take a broad approach for a long-term play on the cloud revolution. If you are interested in any ETF, you should review the fund manager’s website.</p>\n<p>Here’s a comparison of total returns through Aug. 4, along with those for the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF&nbsp;and the Invesco QQQ Trust&nbsp;(which tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index) for comparison:</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/242f135b3c7cca3cbaae3ee574023c1f\" tg-width=\"942\" tg-height=\"577\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Source: FactSet</span></p>\n<p>The ETFs’ approaches differ. For example, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF&nbsp;is the only one that is actively managed. The others track an index. It is also the only one that holds shares of Tesla Inc.,which makes up 10.65% of the portfolio, according to information posted by ARK Invest on Aug. 5. Tesla is an electric-vehicle manufacturer, but it can also be considered a cloud company because it distributes software updates over the internet continually, and offers other cloud-based services.</p>\n<p>Another holding unique to ARKW among the five cloud ETFs is Walt Disney Co.,which is certainly an important cloud player through its Disney+ streaming service, even if the company doesn’t say directly how much of its sales are derived from that rapidly growing segment.</p>\n<p>As part of its description of ARKW, FactSet says the following:</p>\n<p><i>“Broadly speaking, the ARKW’s managers appear focused on big buzzwords such as Internet of Things, cloud computing, digital currencies and wearable technology. While the fund’s focus may be appealing for investors with conviction in these new technologies, portfolio implementation is a more difficult task: Most of the companies developing these advancements are huge corporations for which nascent technologies are only a small fraction of total revenues. As such, it’s very difficult to get pure-play access to ARKW’s targeted technologies — so be sure to confirm that the fund’s holdings — not just its thesis — align with your view of the space.”</i></p>\n<p><b>Cloud-stock screen</b></p>\n<p>Together, the five cloud ETFs listed above hold 147 stocks. To project sales growth through 2023, we used calendar 2020 sales estimates as a baseline and then looked at consensus estimates among analysts polled by FactSet for the subsequent three years, if available. (Getty Images/iStockphoto)\nU.S. investors remain bullish, despite rumblings out of China and the spike in delta variant infections.\nCloud companies — those at the forefront of the shift in computing power to distributed models over the internet — are expected to grow at a rapid clip over the next several years, and four of the five largest exchange traded funds covering the space are close to hitting record highs.\nBelow is a screen of stocks held by those ETFs, showing which are expected to increase their sales the most through 2023. In an industry with many players at relatively early stages, increases in sales, rather than in earnings, might be the best driver of stock prices.\nTo begin the screen, we looked at the five largest cloud ETFs:\nSource: FactSet\nETFs might be your best way to take a broad approach for a long-term play on the cloud revolution. If you are interested in any ETF, you should review the fund manager’s website.\nHere’s a comparison of total returns through Aug. 4, along with those for the SPDR S&P 500 ETF and the Invesco QQQ Trust (which tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index) for comparison:\nSource: FactSet\nThe ETFs’ approaches differ. For example, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF is the only one that is actively managed. The others track an index. It is also the only one that holds shares of Tesla Inc.,which makes up 10.65% of the portfolio, according to information posted by ARK Invest on Aug. 5. Tesla is an electric-vehicle manufacturer, but it can also be considered a cloud company because it distributes software updates over the internet continually, and offers other cloud-based services.\nAnother holding unique to ARKW among the five cloud ETFs is Walt Disney Co.,which is certainly an important cloud player through its Disney+ streaming service, even if the company doesn’t say directly how much of its sales are derived from that rapidly growing segment.\nAs part of its description of ARKW, FactSet says the following:\n“Broadly speaking, the ARKW’s managers appear focused on big buzzwords such as Internet of Things, cloud computing, digital currencies and wearable technology. While the fund’s focus may be appealing for investors with conviction in these new technologies, portfolio implementation is a more difficult task: Most of the companies developing these advancements are huge corporations for which nascent technologies are only a small fraction of total revenues. As such, it’s very difficult to get pure-play access to ARKW’s targeted technologies — so be sure to confirm that the fund’s holdings — not just its thesis — align with your view of the space.”\nCloud-stock screen\nTogether, the five cloud ETFs listed above hold 147 stocks. To project sales growth through 2023, we used calendar 2020 sales estimates as a baseline and then looked at consensus estimates among analysts polled by FactSet for the subsequent three years, if available. (The 2020 numbers are estimates, because many companies’ fiscal years don’t match the calendar.)\nTo make sure we had a solid set of estimates, we confined the group to the 126 companies covered by at least five analysts polled by FactSet, for which consensus sales estimates for calendar 2020 through calendar 2023 are available.\nHere are the 20 companies projected to have the highest compound annual growth rates (CAGR) for sales through calendar 2023:\n\nSource: FactSet\nThere are actually 21 stocks listed, including Zillow Group Inc.’s Class A and Class C shares.\nIt is interesting to see that the list is dominated by stocks held by ARKW. But the company has been unable to get key machinery and materials to keep advancing its technology, after the U.S. placed it under sanctions last year on national security grounds.</p>\n<p>The U.S. government has delayed some of SMIC’s procurement requests for important 14-nanometer and 28 nanometer machines, co-Chief Executive Officer Zhao Haijun said on an earnings call on Friday, without giving reasons. “SMIC will be able to get approvals on certain nodes. Our job is to make it happen,” he said, adding the company is also exploring alternative suppliers.</p>\n<p>Shares of SMIC were up 5% at noon in Hong Kong. They have rallied&nbsp;about a third&nbsp;this year as investors bet that semiconductor firms will benefit from state largesse even as Beijing pursues a broader crackdown in the tech sector that’s ensnared the likes of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. and Tencent Holdings Ltd.</p>\n<blockquote>\n What Bloomberg Intelligence Says:\n</blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n Potential for more price increases and hopes for fast capacity expansion in 4Q may make SMIC’s guidance conservative. The company’s new sales-growth guidance of 30% implies at least a 5% sequential decline in 4Q sales. This is quite unlikely in our scenario analysis. Global semiconductor-supply tightness, especially in mature-node chips, looks likely to extend to 2022. This would allow another round of price increases in 2H21.\n</blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n -- Charles Shum and Simon Chan, analysts\n</blockquote>\n<p>The inability to obtain machines and materials from key overseas suppliers has been a thorny issue for SMIC since the Trump-era blacklisting. In April,Lam Research Corp.&nbsp;told analysts it was waiting to hear back from the U.S. government about its application for a license to export to SMIC. However, non-U.S. equipment vendors aren’t similarly restricted. In March, SMIC said its purchase agreement with Dutch supplier&nbsp;ASML Holding NV&nbsp;has been extended to Dec. 31, although the latter still hasn’t obtained a license to ship the advanced extreme ultraviolet systems required to make cutting-edge chips to China.</p>\n<p>The firm is currently able to manufacture chips using 14nm technology -- still generations behind industry leader&nbsp;Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.-- but the U.S. blacklisting has limited its ability to expand into more advanced nodes. Instead, SMIC is trying to improve its packaging technology, to help beef up the performance of chips made by mature technologies.</p>\n<p>SMIC’s plants are operating at full capacity as chip shortages spread from electric vehicles to electronic equipment including servers and smartphones. In March, the foundry announced a plan to build a&nbsp;$2.35 billion factory&nbsp;in south China’s Shenzhen that will be able to make as many as 40,000 12-inch wafers per month.
