Shareholders would receive many perks, including free popcorn, exclusive new screenings, and the chance to speak with CEO Adam Aron.

Enthusiasm about AMC's turnaround prospects have sent its shares soaring more than 400% in the past month and 2,100% year to date. Is the stock a safe investment right now?

What's behind the hype?

During the first quarter of 2021, AMC operated 585 of its domestic theaters at just 15% to 60% capacity, while only 27% of its 133 international ones stayed partly open. People steered clear of packed indoor movie screenings with the coronavirus pandemic still going strong, but that's less of a risk as more of the U.S. population has been vaccinated.

Hence, investors are betting that AMC's revenue and earnings will experience a massive rebound starting in the second quarter. In 2019, the company generated $5.42 billion from ticket, concessions (food and beverage), and entertainment sales and posted a free cash flow of $84 million.

But there's more. The pandemic also led to extended production delays, as social distancing can be difficult on a movie set. Many producers also did not want to release completed films in a purely digital format and miss out on lucrative box office revenue.

There is now a massive backlog of new films from blockbuster franchise properties such as Avatar, Dungeons & Dragons, Ghostbusters, Halloween, Kingsman, The Matrix, Minecraft, Mission: Impossible, and Tomb Raider, as well as several new offerings from the comic book universes of DC and Marvel. They are all scheduled to be released by the end of 2022.

The schedule is so packed that prominent films like Black Widow and Cinderella are set to hit theaters within two weeks of one another in July. Given its sheer size, AMC might even see its box office revenue hit record highs in 2022.

Can you count on AMC?

Generally speaking, most investors tend to buy on emotion and justify with reason. Now is probably time to look at the latter. When the stock was trading for just $12 last month, it looked pretty undervalued.

However, things have changed as AMC's market cap has surged to nearly $25 billion. To put things into perspective, the company's market cap was less than one-fifth of that amount in 2016, before streaming services like Netflix gained momentum and took away some of its market share.

What's more, AMC has $5.4 billion in long-term debt and owes $4.9 billion per year in theater rent. Even in its heyday, the company operated at razor-thin margins. Now its balance sheet looks even worse as liabilities outpace its assets by over $2 billion. For these reasons, it's probably a good time to take profits on the stock and consolidate gains.

But watch for its next move

Based on the poor fundamentals (and experience with market bubbles), it can be very tempting to see the recent rally as nothing more than a pump-and-dump scheme or a total scam. But there is something that even prudent investors are missing.

With a $25 billion market cap, AMC only has to issue 22% more shares to raise cash to pay off its entire debt balance. That's right: The company has the potential to do a \"soft reset\" and start afresh. The returns would be immediate, as after closing, it would no longer have to pay $151.5 million per quarter in interest. In the first quarter of 2021, the company's interest expense outweighed its total revenue.

Not only would its profit margins increase, but it could also use new cash to increase its theater count, upgrade its recliner seats and big screens, introduce dine-in restaurants at its locations, and more. Since there is still a lot of demand from retail investors at these levels, I don't think it would have trouble finding buyers for the offering, either.

In fact, the company did just that on June 3. AMC sold 11.5 million shares of stock hours after announcing the offering, raising $587.4 million in much-needed cash. The stock fell by more than 30% from the previous day's close before recovering. Investors should continue to expect further dilutions ahead, as the new capital is still not enough for a soft reset of its liabilities.

Overall, AMC stock is very overvalued at these levels. But thanks to the help of 10.3 million traders/followers/influencers of WallStreetBets, the company now has the option to refinance or eliminate its crippling liabilities. If the share price comes down to something more reasonable (say, $20), I'd definitely give the new AMC a chance. For now, check out these alternatives instead.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Is Now the Time to Sell AMC Entertainment Stock?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nIs Now the Time to Sell AMC Entertainment Stock?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-07 11:12 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Over the past year, the iconic theater chain AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE:AMC) has won over the hearts and souls of WallStreetBets traders. Sales in the most recent quarter (the first quarter of fiscal 2021) were up 32.7% year over year and totaled $37.5 billion. The stock has been a winner for some time, rising 139% over the past five years.
\n
The company is benefiting from a booming housing market. Low interest rates and higher home prices boost demand for Home Depot's products. Homeowners often complete renovation projects before selling a home (or after buying a new one), and rising home values incentivize spending on improvements.
\n
The One Home Depot initiative launched three years ago has bolstered the company's omnichannel shopping experience. This has kept the business insulated from the threat of Amazon. In the most recent quarter, digital sales jumped 27% year over year, while the company fulfilled 55% of online orders through its brick-and-mortar stores.
\n
Home Depot's large and bulky inventory, in addition to its critical tools and supplies, are often needed for time-sensitive projects. Low-risk investors should consider owning the stock, which trades at a reasonable valuation of 21 times forward earnings estimates.
\n
2. O'Reilly Automotive
\n
O'Reilly Automotive, like Home Depot, has so far defended itself against the threat of e-commerce. It is also an important part of consumers' lives. If a customer's car breaks down unexpectedly, getting it fixed quickly is essential, and the company makes itself readily available with a physical store footprint of nearly 5,700 locations.
\n
Revenue in 2020 increased 14.3% from the prior year, its strongest showing in at least a decade. The former is still a bigger contributor than the latter, but as the number of miles driven in the U.S. (a key metric for the business) returns to normalized levels, management remains confident in the company's DIFM outlook.
\n
From 2015 through 2020, earnings per share (EPS) have grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 20%, which is even more impressive given the \"boring\" industry O'Reilly operates in. This is a consistent and reliable business that does well in any economic environment.
\n
The stock has doubled over the past five years, slightly outperforming the S&P 500, but trading at a forward price-to-earnings ratio (P/E) of just 20, O'Reilly is cheaper than the broad market index.
\n
3. Starbucks
\n
There aren't many things that Americans (or the rest of the world for that matter) love more than caffeine, and Starbucks is there to satisfy this craving. Although the company took a huge hit during the depths of the pandemic as people worked from home and drove less, the U.S. is back in expansion mode.
\n
Comps increased 9% domestically during the fiscal 2021 second quarter, and Starbucks now counts 22.9 million active rewards members in its system. Banks typically want to see a steady income, responsible spending habits, and an item of security -- like a house or a car -- before writing loans. Technology has improved the process significantly, and it continues to evolve to provide more information to lenders and more options for consumers.
\n
Upstart Holdings (NASDAQ:UPST) is all-digital lending platform with an artificial intelligence model that measures alternative metrics when assessing a potential borrower. The company uses the technology to help originate loans for lenders, and its business model is already delivering profits. Its valuation, though, has ballooned as enthusiastic investors bet heavily on the stock -- and it could take years for profits to catch up. Is it still worth an investment today?
\n
\n
How it works
\n
Upstart partners with banks that write unsecured loans, to borrowers who might have a moderate to low income and might be used to paying higher interest rates. Some of its offerings include personal loans, wedding loans, credit card consolidation, and car loans. The annual percentage rate (interest) for an Upstart loan is in the 8.27% to 35.99% range, depending on the product.
\n
Total non-housing consumer debt in the U.S. stood at more than $4.1 trillion in Q1, including about $745 billion in ''revolving credit'' (credit cards and other loans consumers can pay down, reuse, and carry balances on). Upstart has a substantial market opportunity that it has only just begun to tap.
\n
Potential borrowers can submit a loan application through a bank that uses Upstart's application programming interface (API). Behind the scenes, the company's artificial intelligence is assessing the proposed loan, looking at more than 1,000 data points to provide a decision instantly (in most cases).
\n
Upstart's algorithm has the ability to assess a borrower based on nontraditional metrics. For example, it accounts for a borrower's education and where they went to school, in addition to their job history, rather than just on income and assets. The company claims its decision process can reduce default rates by 75%. In fact, it boasts 173% more approvals for the same overall loan loss rate.
\n
Priced for perfection
\n
Banks are usually valued methodically, using metrics like tangible book value and earnings per share. Investors have decades' worth of historical earnings and valuations to work with when assessing financial institutions. New technology makes the process a bit different -- investors don't have the same history to study, and disruptive companies can therefore be difficult to value.
\n
At the moment, Upstart is trading like a growth-oriented tech company, and this could be warranted since it's effectively a software business.
\n
\n
\n
\n

Year

\n

Revenue

\n
\n
\n
\n
\n

2018

\n

$99 million

\n
\n
\n

2019

\n

$164 million

\n
\n
\n

2020

\n

$233 million

\n
\n
\n

Q1 2021

\n

$121 million

\n
\n
\n
\n
Data source: Company filings.
\n
At Wednesday's prices, Upstart has a market cap over $11 billion, with full-year 2020 net income of $6 million. The company beat that total in this year's first quarter, with a net income of $10.1 million, so you can see how fast it's growing. However, it will likely need to earn significantly more for its current valuation to remain at these lofty levels.
\n
The company expects to earn $500 million in revenue in 2021 -- which would represent 114% in yearly revenue growth -- and based on the Q1 result, this could translate to over $40 million in net income.
\n
For the company to keep up this pace, it will most likely need new catalysts, and it likely has them. Upstart is now offering its platform technology to auto financiers, to capture a piece of the single largest lending segment after housing. Total auto loans in the U.S. grew to $1.37 trillion in 2020, and car shortages have led to higher prices and pent up demand across the board.
\n
The company has trailing 12-month revenue of $290 million, so the stock currently trades at a revenue multiple of roughly 38 times. That's higher than Tesla's! With the growth opportunities Upstart is expecting, the company has the opportunity to grow its way into a less intimidating multiple over the next few years. But if you're buying it today, Upstart must deliver.
\n
Looking forward
\n
Upstart is showing promising growth in originations, with $1.73 billion in Q1, up 102% year over year on 169,750 total loans. This is one of the best metrics to measure the company's performance, as it translates directly to revenue. Since the company's algorithm instantly and automatically approved 71% of those loans, the scalability of this business is potentially enormous.
\n
If the company continues to deliver growth in net income, its stock will likely remain buoyant -- although the risk to the valuation might be to the downside, depending how fast that growth is. Banks typically want to see a steady income, responsible spending habits, and an item of security -- like a house or a car -- before writing loans. Technology has improved the process significantly, and it continues to evolve to provide more information to lenders and more options for consumers.\nUpstart Holdings (NASDAQ:UPST) is all-digital lending platform with an artificial intelligence model that measures alternative metrics when assessing a potential borrower. The company uses the technology to help originate loans for lenders, and its business model is already delivering profits. Its valuation, though, has ballooned as enthusiastic investors bet heavily on the stock -- and it could take years for profits to catch up. Is it still worth an investment today?\nImage Source: Getty Images.\nHow it works\nUpstart partners with banks that write unsecured loans, to borrowers who might have a moderate to low income and might be used to paying higher interest rates. Some of its offerings include personal loans, wedding loans, credit card consolidation, and car loans. The annual percentage rate (interest) for an Upstart loan is in the 8.27% to 35.99% range, depending on the product.\nTotal non-housing consumer debt in the U.S. stood at more than $4.1 trillion in Q1, including about $745 billion in ''revolving credit'' (credit cards and other loans consumers can pay down, reuse, and carry balances on). Upstart has a substantial market opportunity that it has only just begun to tap.\nPotential borrowers can submit a loan application through a bank that uses Upstart's application programming interface (API). Behind the scenes, the company's artificial intelligence is assessing the proposed loan, looking at more than 1,000 data points to provide a decision instantly (in most cases).\nUpstart's algorithm has the ability to assess a borrower based on nontraditional metrics. For example, it accounts for a borrower's education and where they went to school, in addition to their job history, rather than just on income and assets. The company claims its decision process can reduce default rates by 75%. In fact, it boasts 173% more approvals for the same overall loan loss rate.\nPriced for perfection\nBanks are usually valued methodically, using metrics like tangible book value and earnings per share. Investors have decades' worth of historical earnings and valuations to work with when assessing financial institutions. New technology makes the process a bit different -- investors don't have the same history to study, and disruptive companies can therefore be difficult to value.\nAt the moment, Upstart is trading like a growth-oriented tech company, and this could be warranted since it's effectively a software business.\n\n\n\nYear\nRevenue\n\n\n\n\n2018\n$99 million\n\n\n2019\n$164 million\n\n\n2020\n$233 million\n\n\nQ1 2021\n$121 million\n\n\n\nData source: Company filings.\nAt Wednesday's prices, Upstart has a market cap over $11 billion, with full-year 2020 net income of $6 million. The company beat that total in this year's first quarter, with a net income of $10.1 million, so you can see how fast it's growing. However, it will likely need to earn significantly more for its current valuation to remain at these lofty levels.\nThe company expects to earn $500 million in revenue in 2021 -- which would represent 114% in yearly revenue growth -- and based on the Q1 result, this could translate to over $40 million in net income.\nFor the company to keep up this pace, it will most likely need new catalysts, and it likely has them. Upstart is now offering its platform technology to auto financiers, to capture a piece of the single largest lending segment after housing. Total auto loans in the U.S. grew to $1.37 trillion in 2020, and car shortages have led to higher prices and pent up demand across the board.\nThe company has trailing 12-month revenue of $290 million, so the stock currently trades at a revenue multiple of roughly 38 times. That's higher than Tesla's! With the growth opportunities Upstart is expecting, the company has the opportunity to grow its way into a less intimidating multiple over the next few years. But if you're buying it today, Upstart must deliver.\nLooking forward\nUpstart is showing promising growth in originations, with $1.73 billion in Q1, up 102% year over year on 169,750 total loans. This is one of the best metrics to measure the company's performance, as it translates directly to revenue. Since the company's algorithm instantly and automatically approved 71% of those loans, the scalability of this business is potentially enormous.\nIf the company continues to deliver growth in net income, its stock will likely remain buoyant -- although the risk to the valuation might be to the downside, depending how fast that growth is. The question for investors is whether there is enough upside potential from here to warrant that risk. Upstart is guiding for a similar amount of net income in the second quarter as it delivered in Q1, putting the company on track to generate less than $50 million this year. That might not be enough to sustain its current market cap.\nHowever, for investors with a five-year time horizon (or more), Upstart could present a strong growth opportunity.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":275,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":119959688,"gmtCreate":1622514781644,"gmtModify":1704185434990,"author":{"id":"3583020857983441","authorId":"3583020857983441","name":"YS21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9f33a20b9aa9fc9d5b70eb4eb2b94b0e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583020857983441","authorIdStr":"3583020857983441"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great ariticle, would you like to share it?","listText":"Great ariticle, would you like to share it?","text":"Great ariticle, would you like to share it?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/119959688","repostId":"1196805095","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":312,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":119950114,"gmtCreate":1622514748538,"gmtModify":1704185429639,"author":{"id":"3583020857983441","authorId":"3583020857983441","name":"YS21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9f33a20b9aa9fc9d5b70eb4eb2b94b0e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583020857983441","authorIdStr":"3583020857983441"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/119950114","repostId":"1133436315","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1133436315","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1622511921,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1133436315?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-01 09:45","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Elon Musk Thinks This Is A 'Great Idea' To Utilize Energy Generated During Dogecoin Mining","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1133436315","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Tesla Inc.(NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk on Saturday backed a proposition from Blockfolio on how to uti","content":"
Tesla Inc.(NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk on Saturday backed a proposition from Blockfolio on how to utilize energy generated during the process ofDogecoin(DOGE) mining.
\n
What Happened:Blockfolio in a tweet proposed“a hot tub that's heated by mining dogecoin,” which Musk dubbed a “great idea.”
\n
The cryptocurrency exchange and portfolio tracking service provider called on Elon Musk to “just make it happen” no matter how.Among others responding to the tweet, Dogecoin co-creator Billy Markus noted the high amount of heat generated when he used to mine the meme cryptocurrency.
\n
“When I used to mine, [I] definitely didn’t need a heater anymore,” Markus said. “Only problem was that hardware burning smell.”
\n
Some other users also noted the high amount of noise that is generated with some of the mining hardware.
\n
Why It Matters:Musk has come intensely in support of Dogecoin over the past year and half, primarily citing its origin and existence as a meme as the basis of his support.
\n
Tesla announced itwould stopacceptingBitcoin(BTC) as a form of payment, earlier this month, citing environmental concerns related to the mining of the apex cryptocurrency.
\n
Musk followed up with an announcement that he was working with Dogecoin developers andcalled for helpfrom his followers on Twitter.
\n
Dogecoin utilizes the scrypt proof-of-work algorithm against the SHA-256 algorithm utilized by Bitcoin, making it relatively more feasible to mine for individuals on their personal devices.
\n
Musk, last week, also suggested he was taking a more nuanced approach towards the environmental concerns of Bitcoin mining, dubbing his talks with North American Bitcoin miners as “potentially promising.”
\n
Price Action:Dogecoin traded 0.96% higher over 24 hours at press time at $0.3086. the years.
The question for investors is whether there is enough upside potential from here to warrant that risk. Upstart is guiding for a similar amount of net income in the second quarter as it delivered in Q1, putting the company on track to generate less than $50 million this year. The cryptocurrency uses more energy than entire countries such as Sweden and Malaysia, according to the Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index.\nTo understand why bitcoin is so energy-intensive, you have to look at its underlying technology, the blockchain.\nBitcoin's public ledger is decentralized, meaning it isn't controlled by any single authority. It's constantly being updated by a network of computers around the world.\nSo-called miners run purpose-built computers to solve complex math puzzles in order to make a transaction go through. This is the only way to mint new bitcoins.\nMiners do not run this operation for free. They have to shell out huge sums on specialized equipment. A key incentive of bitcoin's model, known as \"proof of work,\" is the promise of being rewarded in some bitcoin if you manage to solve its complex hashing algorithm.\nIt's worth noting thatdogecoin, which has risen wildly in price lately on the back of support from Musk, also uses a proof-of-work mechanism.\nCarol Alexander, a professor at the University of Sussex Business School, explains that bitcoin's mining \"difficulty\" — a measure of the computational effort it takes to mine bitcoin — has been going \"up and up\" over the last three years.\n\"More and more electricity is being used,\" Alexander told CNBC. \"That means that the network difficulty will also be going up (and) more miners are coming in because the hash rate's going up.\"\nBitcoin's price is up almost 70% so far this year. As it goes up in price, the revenue to miners also increases, incentivizing more participants to mine the cryptocurrency.\nMeanwhile, Musk isn't the only one who's worried about the environmental impact of bitcoin. In February, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned that the digital coin is \"extremely inefficient\" for making transactions and uses a \"staggering\" amount of power.\nDoes bitcoin actually harm the environment?\nIt's complicated. On the one hand, bitcoin's network uses anunfathomable amount of energy. Much of the mining of bitcoin is concentrated in China, whose economy is still heavily reliant on coal.\nLast month, a coal mine in the Xinjiang region flooded and shut down. This took nearly a quarter of bitcoin's hash rate — or computing power — offline, according to crypto industry publicationCoinDesk.\nIn March, China's Inner Mongolia region said it wouldshut down cryptocurrency mining operationsin the region due to concerns over energy consumption.\nOn the other side of the debate, bitcoin investors have attempted to push back on the narrative that it's harmful for the environment.\nWhile it's difficult to determine the energy mix that powers bitcoin, some in the crypto industry say miners are incentivized to use renewables as it's getting cheaper to produce them. In China, the province of Sichuan is known to attract miners due to its cheap electricity and rich hydropower resources.\nLast month,Jack Dorsey'sfintech companySquareand Cathie Wood's Ark Invest put out amemoclaiming that bitcoin will actually drive renewable energy innovation. However, critics said they had avested interestin doing so.\nAlexander said the debate around bitcoin's environmental impact was misguided as most transactions with the digital asset aren't happening on the blockchain.\n\"Almost all the trading is not done on the blockchain,\" she said. \"It's done on secondary markets, centralized exchanges. They're not even recorded on the blockchain.\"\nESG concerns\nRegardless of whether bitcoin is actually a polluter or not, the negative connotations around its energy consumption have worried investors conscious of companies' ethical and environmental responsibilities.\nESG, or environmental, social and corporate governance, has become agrowing trendin financial markets, with portfolio managers increasingly incorporating sustainable investments into their strategies.\nSome Tesla shareholders may be worried that the company is betting big on bitcoin while also claiming to be a green energy company.\n\"Bitcoin backers will be wondering where this leaves the future of the cryptocurrency,\" Laith Khalaf, a financial analyst at investment firm AJ Bell, said in a note Thursday.\n\"Environmental matters are an incredibly sensitive subject right now, and Tesla's move might serve as a wake-up call to businesses and consumers using Bitcoin, who hadn't hitherto considered its carbon footprint,\" Khalaf added.\n\"Tesla's decision certainly puts pressure on other big companies who accept Bitcoin to review their practices, because boardrooms will now be wary about getting it in the ear from ESG investors on the shareholder register.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":54,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":119924443,"gmtCreate":1622514648482,"gmtModify":1704185427697,"author":{"id":"3583020857983441","authorId":"3583020857983441","name":"YS21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9f33a20b9aa9fc9d5b70eb4eb2b94b0e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583020857983441","authorIdStr":"3583020857983441"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good","listText":"Good","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/119924443","repostId":"1105273964","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1105273964","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1622511256,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1105273964?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-01 09:34","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Here Are the 11 Best Performing IPOs of the Year","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105273964","media":"Barron's","summary":"The market for initial public offerings has recently delivered some great first-day gains for investors who were able to get shares before the companies went public. That left us with 11 names. Most retail investors have to wait until companies start publicly trading to buy stock.Barron’slooked at businesses that have gone public in the past 12 months to find some strong performers.

First, we searched for companies that listed via a traditional initial public offering: This meant we filtered out businesses that merged withspecial purpose acquisition companies, or SPACs. Then, we searched for companies that went public on either the New York Stock Exchange or the Nasdaq. We also focused on entities that had at least a $1 billion market capitalization. We narrowed our search to companies with the highesttotal returns from their stock offering prices..

That left us with 11 names. First up:CureVac(ticker: CVAC), which was the screen’s best-performing IPO and had a total return of 596.75%. CureVac specializes in the messenger RNA, or mRNA, technology that is the basis of several leading Covid-19 vaccine programs. The German biotech company went public inAugust at $16 a shareand soared 249% in its first day, with the stock closing at $55.90. In January, CureVacstruck a deal with Bayerto accelerate the development and supply of its Covid-19 vaccine candidate. The company’s mRNA-based Covid-19 vaccine is now in clinical trials, and Phase2b/3 data is expected this summer. Since its IPO, the stock has nearly doubled, closingFriday at $111.48 .

Strong performances need not be dictated by success on the first day of trading. Four of the companies that made our list were busted deals—meaning that their shares fell below their IPO prices on the first day of trading.

Case in point:ZIM Integrated Shipping(ZIM). The asset-light shipping company went public in January with a $15 offering price, but closed that day at $11.50. Yet by May 19, ZIM’s stockhad gained 295%after itreported first-quarter earnings of $589.6 million, or $5.35 a share. The companyalso declared a special cash dividend of $2 a share. ZIM is the second-best-performing IPO in the past 12 months, based on a total return of 209.33%, according to FactSet. It closed on Friday at $46.40.

Another example isAcademy Sports & Outdoors(ASO): The companywent public in Octoberwith a $13 offering price, with the stock closing at $12.99 during its first day of public trading.Academy was profitable when it went public, a rarity in the IPO market. Most retail investors have to wait until companies start publicly trading to buy stock.Barron’slooked at businesses that have gone public in the past 12 months to find some strong performers.First, we searched for companies that listed via a traditional initial public offering: This meant we filtered out businesses that merged withspecial purpose acquisition companies, or SPACs. Then, we searched for companies that went public on either the New York Stock Exchange or the Nasdaq. We also focused on entities that had at least a $1 billion market capitalization. We narrowed our search to companies with the highesttotal returns from their stock offering prices..That left us with 11 names. Since its IPO, the stock has nearly doubled, closingFriday at $111.48 .Strong performances need not be dictated by success on the first day of trading. Four of the companies that made our list were busted deals—meaning that their shares fell below their IPO prices on the first day of trading.Case in point:ZIM Integrated Shipping(ZIM). It closed on Friday at $46.40.Another example isAcademy Sports & Outdoors(ASO): The companywent public in Octoberwith a $13 offering price, with the stock closing at $12.99 during its first day of public trading.Academy was profitable when it went public, a rarity in the IPO market. InMarch, the company reported that its net incomesoared 416%, to $91.5 million, or 97 cents a share, for its fourth fiscal quarter ended Jan. 30.

But watch for its next moveBased on the poor fundamentals (and experience with market bubbles), it can be very tempting to see the recent rally as nothing more than a pump-and-dump scheme or a total scam. Investors should continue to expect further dilutions ahead, as the new capital is still not enough for a soft reset of its liabilities.Overall, AMC stock is very overvalued at these levels. But thanks to the help of 10.3 million traders/followers/influencers of WallStreetBets, the company now has the option to refinance or eliminate its crippling liabilities. If the share price comes down to something more reasonable (say, $20), I'd definitely give the new AMC a chance. For now, check out these alternatives instead.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":368,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":119959688,"gmtCreate":1622514781644,"gmtModify":1704185434990,"author":{"id":"3583020857983441","authorId":"3583020857983441","name":"YS21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9f33a20b9aa9fc9d5b70eb4eb2b94b0e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583020857983441","authorIdStr":"3583020857983441"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great ariticle, would you like to share it?","listText":"Great ariticle, would you like to share it?","text":"Great ariticle, would you like to share it?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/119959688","repostId":"1196805095","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":312,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":111837107,"gmtCreate":1622674695409,"gmtModify":1704188495841,"author":{"id":"3583020857983441","authorId":"3583020857983441","name":"YS21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9f33a20b9aa9fc9d5b70eb4eb2b94b0e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583020857983441","authorIdStr":"3583020857983441"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/111837107","repostId":"2140102614","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2140102614","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1622647855,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2140102614?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-02 23:30","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Great Stocks for Low-Risk Investors","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2140102614","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Tired of the recent market volatility? Jushi Holdings
\n
Trading for less than $6 per share at the time of this writing, Jushi Holdings (OTC:JUSHF) is a small-cap company with serious long-term growth potential. The multistate cannabis operator owns a family of marijuana brands including Tasteology, Nira, and The Lab Concentrates. It also runs a chain of retail cannabis stores spread across Pennsylvania, Illinois, California, and Virginia.
\n
2020 was an extremely profitable, high-growth year for Jushi Holdings. It recorded a nearly 700% spike in revenue, and its gross profits surged by a mouthwatering 760%.
\n
Jushi Holdings reported a 30% increase in revenue during the first quarter of 2021. But the company's lightning-fast growth isn't hindering its ability to expand its cash position, as it closed the period with a robust $168 million in cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investments.
\n
The company is also quickly expanding its national presence. In the month of April alone, Jushi Holdings closed its acquisition of a group of marijuana cultivation, manufacturing, and distribution facilities in Nevada and announced more pending deals that are scheduled to close later this year. In Ohio, its purchase of OhiGrow will make Jushi Holdings the owner of one of just 34 licensed cultivators in the state -- a key medical marijuana market. And in Massachusetts, where cannabis is legal for both medical and recreational purposes, Jushi plans to acquire Nature's Remedy, owner of a cultivation and manufacturing facility as well as two retail dispensaries.
\n
As Jushi Holdings continues to grow its footprint in the coming years, its balance sheet and share price could also be considerably augmented. This is a great time to seize upon this premium pot stock's cheap share price to capitalize on its long-term potential.
\n
2. Pfizer
\n
Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) skyrocketed to rock-star status during the pandemic when BNT162b2 -- which it developed with its German partner, BioNTech -- became the first COVID-19 vaccine to earn emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Despite the massive success of BNT162b2, now being marketed as Comirnaty, not to mention a bulletproof portfolio of other lucrative products that have seen strong sales growth, Pfizer's shares still trade at less than $40.
\n
Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine is already having a decisive impact on its balance sheet. The company expects to bring in about $26 billion in revenue from Comirnaty in 2021 alone, and it just announced on May 7 that it was filing with the FDA for full approval of the vaccine for use by people 16 and older.
\n
During the first quarter of 2021, Pfizer reported astonishing revenue growth of 42% year over year. But it has plenty of other products beyond its coronavirus vaccine to rely on for future gains. Even when you factor BNT162b2 out of the picture, the company still reported excellent revenue growth of 8% from the prior-year period.
\n
In addition to coronavirus vaccine sales, Pfizer's robust top-line expansion during the first quarter was driven by consistent single- to double-digit percentage revenue increases across its core business segments. For example, sales in Pfizer's oncology, internal medicine, and rare disease segments shot up 16%, 10%, and 25%, respectively. Among its top-selling drugs, anticoagulant Eliquis, heart failure medications Vyndaqel and Vyndamax, and rheumatoid arthritis medication Xeljanz recorded sales gains of 25%, 88%, and 18%, respectively. While a cheap per-share price in and of itself doesn't necessarily indicate that a stock is a good investment, it also doesn't mean it's a bad one.\nHere are two low-priced stocks that long-term investors should consider scooping up right now.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\n1. Jushi Holdings\nTrading for less than $6 per share at the time of this writing, Jushi Holdings (OTC:JUSHF) is a small-cap company with serious long-term growth potential. The multistate cannabis operator owns a family of marijuana brands including Tasteology, Nira, and The Lab Concentrates. It also runs a chain of retail cannabis stores spread across Pennsylvania, Illinois, California, and Virginia.\n2020 was an extremely profitable, high-growth year for Jushi Holdings. It recorded a nearly 700% spike in revenue, and its gross profits surged by a mouthwatering 760%.\nJushi Holdings reported a 30% increase in revenue during the first quarter of 2021. But the company's lightning-fast growth isn't hindering its ability to expand its cash position, as it closed the period with a robust $168 million in cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investments.\nThe company is also quickly expanding its national presence. And in Massachusetts, where cannabis is legal for both medical and recreational purposes, Jushi plans to acquire Nature's Remedy, owner of a cultivation and manufacturing facility as well as two retail dispensaries.\nAs Jushi Holdings continues to grow its footprint in the coming years, its balance sheet and share price could also be considerably augmented. This is a great time to seize upon this premium pot stock's cheap share price to capitalize on its long-term potential.\n2. Pfizer\nPfizer (NYSE:PFE) skyrocketed to rock-star status during the pandemic when BNT162b2 -- which it developed with its German partner, BioNTech -- became the first COVID-19 vaccine to earn emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Despite the massive success of BNT162b2, now being marketed as Comirnaty, not to mention a bulletproof portfolio of other lucrative products that have seen strong sales growth, Pfizer's shares still trade at less than $40.\nPfizer's coronavirus vaccine is already having a decisive impact on its balance sheet. The company expects to bring in about $26 billion in revenue from Comirnaty in 2021 alone, and it just announced on May 7 that it was filing with the FDA for full approval of the vaccine for use by people 16 and older.\nDuring the first quarter of 2021, Pfizer reported astonishing revenue growth of 42% year over year. But it has plenty of other products beyond its coronavirus vaccine to rely on for future gains. Even when you factor BNT162b2 out of the picture, the company still reported excellent revenue growth of 8% from the prior-year period.\nIn addition to coronavirus vaccine sales, Pfizer's robust top-line expansion during the first quarter was driven by consistent single- to double-digit percentage revenue increases across its core business segments. Management is now forecasting full-year revenues in the range of $70.5 billion to $72.5 billion.\nPfizer's also an attractive option for dividend-seeking investors. The stock yields a healthy 4% at the time of this writing. Moreover, it trades at a mere 20 times trailing earnings. The combination of Pfizer's affordable price tag and the appealing mixture of growth and value it offers investors makes this stock a no-brainer buy in any market environment.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":127,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":131984813,"gmtCreate":1621821813532,"gmtModify":1704362778792,"author":{"id":"3583020857983441","authorId":"3583020857983441","name":"YS21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9f33a20b9aa9fc9d5b70eb4eb2b94b0e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583020857983441","authorIdStr":"3583020857983441"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/131984813","repostId":"1113416958","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1113416958","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1621821265,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1113416958?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-24 09:54","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Google Aims for Commercial Quantum Computer by 2029, What Would That Do to Bitcoin?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1113416958","media":"Mish Talk","summary":"Let's explore quantum computing, problems it might solve, and what it will do to current security pr","content":"
\n Let's explore quantum computing, problems it might solve, and what it will do to current security protocols and blockchain.\n
\n
What is a Quantum Computer?
\n
The New Scientist answers the questionWhat is a Quantum Computer?
\n
\n Classical computers, which include smartphones and laptops, encode information in binary “bits” that can either be 0s or 1s. We know how to execute the road map.”Google is interested in many potential uses for the technology, such as building more energy-efficient batteries, creating a new process of making fertilizer that emits less carbon dioxide and speeding up training for machine-learning, a branch of artificial intelligence, Dr. Neven said.\n For those and other use cases, Google says it will need to build a 1-million-qubit machine capable of performing reliable calculations without errors. Its current systems have less than 100 qubits.\n
\n
What About Bitcoin?
\n
Deloitte discussesQuantum Computers and the Bitcoin Blockchain.
\n
\n Since Google announced that it achieved quantum supremacy there has been an increasing number of articles on the web predicting the demise of currently used cryptography in general, and Bitcoin in particular. The goal of this article is to present a balanced view regarding the risks that quantum computers pose to Bitcoin. All known (classical) algorithms to derive the private key from the public key require an astronomical amount of time to perform such a computation and are therefore not practical. However, in 1994, the mathematician Peter Shor published a quantum algorithm that can break the security assumption of the most common algorithms of asymmetric cryptography. This means that anyone with a sufficiently large quantum computer could use this algorithm to derive a private key from its corresponding public key, and thus, falsify any digital signature. The prerequisite of being “quantum safe” is that the public key associated with this address is not public. But as we explained above, the moment you want to transfer coins from such a “safe” address, you also reveal the public key, making the address vulnerable. From that moment until your transaction is “mined”, an attacker who possesses a quantum computer gets a window of opportunity to steal your coins. In such an attack, the adversary will first derive your private key from the public key and then initiate a competing transaction to their own address. They will try to get priority over the original transaction by offering a higher mining fee.In the Bitcoin blockchain it currently takes about 10 minutes for transactions to be mined (unless the network is congested which has happened frequently in the past). As long as it takes a quantum computer longer to derive the private key of a specific public key then the network should be safe against a quantum attack. Current scientific estimations predict that a quantum computer will take about 8 hours to break an RSA key, and some specific calculations predict that a Bitcoin signature could be hacked within 30 minutes.\n
\n
There's much more to the article including some advice for Bitcoin holders about public keys that needs to be addressed now.
\n
But if quantum computers ever become fast enough, the security of the entire blockchain will melt down.
\n
Deloitte notes the only solution is ‘post-quantum cryptography’ to build robust and future-proof blockchain applications.
\n
That caution applies not only to Bitcoin but to any existing application that uses public-private keys.
\n
How Does This Work?
\n
Post Quantum Cryptography
\n
Wikipedia has an excellent discussion ofPost-quantum cryptography
\n
One of the simple proposed solutions is to double the key size but there are practical considerations.
\n
\n A practical consideration on a choice among post-quantum cryptographic algorithms is the effort required to send public keys over the internet. The Open Quantum Safe project was started in late 2016 and has the goal of developing and prototyping quantum-resistant cryptography. If forward secrecy is used, encrypted communications and sessions recorded in the past cannot be retrieved and decrypted should long-term secret keys or passwords be compromised in the future, even if the adversary actively interfered, for example via a man-in-the-middle attack. The value of forward secrecy is that it protects past communication. This reduces the motivation for attackers to compromise keys. For instance, if an attacker learns a long-term key, but the compromise is detected and the long-term key is revoked and updated, relatively little information is leaked in a forward secure system.\n
\n
Things may not be quite as simple as simply saying double the key size.
","source":"lsy1620736834627","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Google Aims for Commercial Quantum Computer by 2029, What Would That Do to Bitcoin?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nGoogle Aims for Commercial Quantum Computer by 2029, What Would That Do to Bitcoin?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-05-24 09:54 GMT+8 Mish Talk\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Let's explore quantum computing, problems it might solve, and what it will do to current security protocols and blockchain.\n\nWhat is a Quantum Computer?\nThe New Scientist answers the questionWhat is a...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"GOOG":"谷歌","GOOGL":"谷歌A"},"source_url":"https://mishtalk.com/economics/google-aims-for-commercial-quantum-computer-by-2029-what-would-that-do-to-bitcoin","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1113416958","content_text":"Let's explore quantum computing, problems it might solve, and what it will do to current security protocols and blockchain.\n\nWhat is a Quantum Computer?\nThe New Scientist answers the questionWhat is a Quantum Computer?\n\n Classical computers, which include smartphones and laptops, encode information in binary “bits” that can either be 0s or 1s. For instance, if an attacker learns a long-term key, but the compromise is detected and the long-term key is revoked and updated, relatively little information is leaked in a forward secure system.\n\nThings may not be quite as simple as simply saying double the key size.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":156,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":119950114,"gmtCreate":1622514748538,"gmtModify":1704185429639,"author":{"id":"3583020857983441","authorId":"3583020857983441","name":"YS21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9f33a20b9aa9fc9d5b70eb4eb2b94b0e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583020857983441","authorIdStr":"3583020857983441"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/119950114","repostId":"1133436315","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1133436315","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1622511921,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1133436315?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-01 09:45","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Elon Musk Thinks This Is A 'Great Idea' To Utilize Energy Generated During Dogecoin Mining","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1133436315","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Tesla Inc.(NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk on Saturday backed a proposition from Blockfolio on how to uti","content":"
