stocks dropped with Bitcoin in premarket trading Wednesday. Bit Digital fell 8.5%; Marathon D","content":"<html><head></head><body><p>Crypto stocks dropped with Bitcoin in premarket trading Wednesday. Bit Digital fell 8.5%; Marathon Digital and Canaan fell 4.8%; Riot Blockchain fell 4.3%; Coinbase and MicroStrategy fell about 3%.</p><p></p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bb64cb89c7a6a843d3b6dc0cdb2b8403\" tg-width=\"401\" tg-height=\"396\"/></p><p>Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies slipped Wednesday, in step with the stock market as digital assets continued to be sensitive to macroeconomic forces. But bullish signals were still suggesting that cryptos are in a positive groove.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">The price of Bitcoin has fallen 2% over the past 24 hours to $29,100, declining below the psychologically important $30,000 mark—which represents where prices stood last June, before the crypto selloff accelerated into a brutal bear market. The largest digital asset passed $30,000 last week, spiking to near $31,000 at points, but has struggled to consolidate gains or move higher amid some signs of profit-taking.</p><p>“Bitcoin appears like it might consolidate here, but a rally above $31,500 could open the door to some momentum trades,” said Edward Moya, an analyst at broker Oanda.</p><p>Pushing prices lower in the short term were wider worries over inflation and the prospect of more interest-rate hikes, which also was weighing on the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500. A series of dramatic rate hikes from the Federal Reserve last year—a bid to tame decades-high inflation—drastically dampened demand for risk-sensitive assets, slamming both cryptos and stocks. While Bitcoin’s rally this year has come amid expectations of easier monetary policy from the Fed, the narrative remains vulnerable.</p><p>Among the latest catalysts shaking investor confidence on the prospect of looser monetary policy were comments from St. Louis Federal Reserve President James Bullard, who called for higher rates yet again on Tuesday. Red-hot inflation data out of the U.K. on Wednesday also has raised global hackles over persistent price-growth.</p><p>“The worry that rates will continue to be hiked in the U.S. is pervading financial markets with investors concerned that further tightening will increase the chances of recession and cause ripple effects around the world,” said Susannah Streeter, an analyst at broker Hargreaves Lansdown.</p><p>But, more broadly, there remain multiple bullish signs for Bitcoin, which has already rallied some 80% so far this year in a surge from the depths of its “crypto winter,” spurring calls of a new bull market for digital assets. Bitcoin recently closed out its best quarterly return since the all-time high in late 2021.</p><p>“The strong market performance in 2023 is a stark contrast to 2022, and suggests a favorable regime shift is under way,” analysts at crypto market intelligence firm Glassnode wrote in a recent note.</p><p>“Several on-chain indicators are suggesting that bear market conditions (or at least the worst of it) may now be behind us,” the Glassnode analysts wrote, referring to blockchain network data covering individual Bitcoin trades, closely scrutinized by analysts because it was “surprisingly consistent.”</p><p>Bitcoin is in “neutral territory,” according to Glassnode, holding above the zone between $16,000 and $25,000 in which significant Bitcoin volume has changed hands. “We note that much of this supply remains tightly held by those buyers, whilst profits are being taken, and network utilization is improving, all supporting the strong market performance,” the analysts wrote.</p><p>Beyond Bitcoin, Ether —the second-largest crypto, which has outperformed since the Ethereum blockchain successfully completed a critical upgrade last week—dropped 5% to below the key $2,000 level. Smaller cryptos, or altcoins, were also weak, with Cardano and Polygon down 6% each. Memecoins were unspared, as Dogecoin and Shiba Inu both shed 6%.</p></body></html>","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; charset=utf-8\" />\n<meta name=\"viewport\" content=\"width=device-width,initial-scale=1.0,minimum-scale=1.0,maximum-scale=1.0,user-scalable=no\"/>\n<meta name=\"format-detection\" content=\"telephone=no,email=no,address=no\" />\n<title>Crypto Stocks Dropped With Bitcoin</title>\n<style type=\"text/css\">\na,abbr,acronym,address,applet,article,aside,audio,b,big,blockquote,body,canvas,caption,center,cite,code,dd,del,details,dfn,div,dl,dt,\nem,embed,fieldset,figcaption,figure,footer,form,h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6,header,hgroup,html,i,iframe,img,ins,kbd,label,legend,li,mark,menu,nav,\nobject,ol,output,p,pre,q,ruby,s,samp,section,small,span,strike,strong,sub,summary,sup,table,tbody,td,tfoot,th,thead,time,tr,tt,u,ul,var,video{ font:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;vertical-align:baseline;border:0 }\nbody{ font-size:16px; line-height:1.5; color:#999; background:transparent; }\n.wrapper{ overflow:hidden;word-break:break-all;padding:10px; }\nh1,h2{ font-weight:normal; line-height:1.35; margin-bottom:.6em; }\nh3,h4,h5,h6{ line-height:1.35; margin-bottom:1em; }\nh1{ font-size:24px; }\nh2{ font-size:20px; }\nh3{ font-size:18px; }\nh4{ font-size:16px; }\nh5{ font-size:14px; }\nh6{ font-size:12px; }\np,ul,ol,blockquote,dl,table{ margin:1.2em 0; }\nul,ol{ margin-left:2em; }\nul{ list-style:disc; }\nol{ list-style:decimal; }\nli,li p{ margin:10px 0;}\nimg{ max-width:100%;display:block;margin:0 auto 1em; }\nblockquote{ color:#B5B2B1; border-left:3px solid #aaa; padding:1em; }\nstrong,b{font-weight:bold;}\nem,i{font-style:italic;}\ntable{ width:100%;border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:1px;margin:1em 0;font-size:.9em; }\nth,td{ padding:5px;text-align:left;border:1px solid #aaa; }\nth{ font-weight:bold;background:#5d5d5d; }\n.symbol-link{font-weight:bold;}\n/* header{ border-bottom:1px solid #494756; } */\n.title{ margin:0 0 8px;line-height:1.3;color:#ddd; }\n.meta {color:#5e5c6d;font-size:13px;margin:0 0 .5em; }\na{text-decoration:none; color:#2a4b87;}\n.meta .head { display: inline-block; overflow: hidden}\n.head .h-thumb { width: 30px; height: 30px; margin: 0; padding: 0; border-radius: 50%; float: left;}\n.head .h-content { margin: 0; padding: 0 0 0 9px; float: left;}\n.head .h-name {font-size: 13px; color: #eee; margin: 0;}\n.head .h-time {font-size: 11px; color: #7E829C; margin: 0;line-height: 11px;}\n.small {font-size: 12.5px; display: inline-block; transform: scale(0.9); -webkit-transform: scale(0.9); transform-origin: left; -webkit-transform-origin: left;}\n.smaller {font-size: 12.5px; display: inline-block; transform: scale(0.8); -webkit-transform: scale(0.8); transform-origin: left; -webkit-transform-origin: left;}\n.bt-text {font-size: 12px;margin: 1.5em 0 0 0}\n.bt-text p {margin: 0}\n</style>\n</head>\n<body>\n<div class=\"wrapper\">\n<header>\n<h2 class=\"title\">\nCrypto Stocks Dropped With Bitcoin\n</h2>\n\n<h4 class=\"meta\">\n\n\n<a class=\"head\" href=\"https://laohu8.com/wemedia/1079075236\">\n\n\n<div class=\"h-thumb\" style=\"background-image:url(https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba);background-size:cover;\"></div>\n\n<div class=\"h-content\">\n<p class=\"h-name\">Tiger Newspress </p>\n<p class=\"h-time\">2023-04-19 17:39</p>\n</div>\n\n</a>\n\n\n</h4>\n\n</header>\n<article>\n<html><head></head><body><p>Crypto stocks dropped with Bitcoin in premarket trading Wednesday. Bit Digital fell 8.5%; Marathon Digital and Canaan fell 4.8%; Riot Blockchain fell 4.3%; Coinbase and MicroStrategy fell about 3%.Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies slipped Wednesday, in step with the stock market as digital assets continued to be sensitive to macroeconomic forces. But bullish signals were still suggesting that cryptos are in a positive groove.The price of Bitcoin has fallen 2% over the past 24 hours to $29,100, declining below the psychologically important $30,000 mark—which represents where prices stood last June, before the crypto selloff accelerated into a brutal bear market. The largest digital asset passed $30,000 last week, spiking to near $31,000 at points, but has struggled to consolidate gains or move higher amid some signs of profit-taking.“Bitcoin appears like it might consolidate here, but a rally above $31,500 could open the door to some momentum trades,” said Edward Moya, an analyst at broker Oanda.Pushing prices lower in the short term were wider worries over inflation and the prospect of more interest-rate hikes, which also was weighing on the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500. A series of dramatic rate hikes from the Federal Reserve last year—a bid to tame decades-high inflation—drastically dampened demand for risk-sensitive assets, slamming both cryptos and stocks. While Bitcoin’s rally this year has come amid expectations of easier monetary policy from the Fed, the narrative remains vulnerable.Among the latest catalysts shaking investor confidence on the prospect of looser monetary policy were comments from St. Louis Federal Reserve President James Bullard, who called for higher rates yet again on Tuesday. Red-hot inflation data out of the U.K. on Wednesday also has raised global hackles over persistent price-growth.“The worry that rates will continue to be hiked in the U.S. is pervading financial markets with investors concerned that further tightening will increase the chances of recession and cause ripple effects around the world,” said Susannah Streeter, an analyst at broker Hargreaves Lansdown.But, more broadly, there remain multiple bullish signs for Bitcoin, which has already rallied some 80% so far this year in a surge from the depths of its “crypto winter,” spurring calls of a new bull market for digital assets. Bitcoin recently closed out its best quarterly return since the all-time high in late 2021.“The strong market performance in 2023 is a stark contrast to 2022, and suggests a favorable regime shift is under way,” analysts at crypto market intelligence firm Glassnode wrote in a recent note.“Several on-chain indicators are suggesting that bear market conditions (or at least the worst of it) may now be behind us,” the Glassnode analysts wrote, referring to blockchain network data covering individual Bitcoin trades, closely scrutinized by analysts because it was “surprisingly consistent.”Bitcoin is in “neutral territory,” according to Glassnode, holding above the zone between $16,000 and $25,000 in which significant Bitcoin volume has changed hands. “We note that much of this supply remains tightly held by those buyers, whilst profits are being taken, and network utilization is improving, all supporting the strong market performance,” the analysts wrote.Beyond Bitcoin, Ether —the second-largest crypto, which has outperformed since the Ethereum blockchain successfully completed a critical upgrade last week—dropped 5% to below the key $2,000 level. Mutual-fund manager Peter Lynch called such investments 10-baggers. He found quite a few of them during his time leading Fidelity Investments' Magellan Fund.</p><p>But Lynch is one of the most successful investors ever. Can investors who aren't legends buy potential 10-baggers now?</p><p>I think so. And it doesn't have to take decades to generate 10x returns. Here are three stocks that may be able to turn $100,000 into $1 million by 2030.</p><h2>1. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/MELI\">MercadoLibre</a></h2><p>What do you get when you cross three huge opportunities with a fast-growing and underserved region? <b>MercadoLibre</b> (NASDAQ:MELI). The company stands as the leader in Latin American e-commerce, digital payments, and logistics with a market cap below $60 billion.</p><p>I view MercadoLibre as one of the top growth stocks to buy for 2022. The stock is down more than 40% from its 52-week high, despite its business continuing to fire on all cylinders. My prediction is that it will rebound strongly this year.</p><p>However, I'm even more excited about MercadoLibre's prospects throughout the rest of this decade. Investment-firm <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/MSTLW\">Morgan Stanley</a></b> expects the e-commerce market-penetration rate in Latin America will double by 2025 and continue growing rapidly afterward. MercadoLibre will be the obvious winner if this projection is right -- both with its e-commerce and logistics services.</p><p>There are also millions of people in Latin America who don't use banking services or have only limited banking services. MercadoLibre's MercadoPago payment platform provides a great solution for these individuals. I think that digital payments will become a much bigger business for the company and help it potentially deliver a 10x return by 2030.</p><h2>2. Unity Software</h2><p>ARK Invest founder Cathie Wood believes that the metaverse could be worth trillions of dollars. Matthew Ball, CEO of venture-capital firm Epyllion, projects that the metaverse opportunity could reach $30 trillion over the next 15 years. If they're anywhere close to being right, <b>Unity Software</b> (NYSE:U) could easily turn an initial investment of $100,000 into $1 million by the end of this decade.</p><p>Unity isn't a company that's in the limelight all that much. However, its software was used to develop more than 700 of the top 1,000 mobile games. Unity's platform is No. 1, by far, in creating interactive, real-time 3D content.</p><p>The rise of the metaverse should lead to a lot more of this content. That presents a massive opportunity for Unity -- one that the company fully intends to seize. CEO John Riccitiello said in Unity's third-quarter conference call that the company's goal is for between 60% and 80% of metaverse content to be built with its software.</p><p>Riccitiello's range seems attainable based on Unity's past track record. If the metaverse delivers on its potential, it's not hard to envision Unity's market cap increasing from the current $37 billion to at least $370 billion by 2030.</p><h2>3. Twist Bioscience</h2><p><b>Twist Bioscience</b> (NASDAQ:TWST) ranks as one of the most intriguing biotech stocks on the market. The company specializes in making synthetic DNA. This DNA is used in a variety of ways, including drug development and research.</p><p>Twist estimates that the addressable market for its synthetic DNA is around $1.8 billion annually. It believes there's at least another $1 billion per-year opportunity in tools for next-generation sequencing (NGS) sample preparation.</p><p>I don't think those markets are enough to make Twist a 10-bagger by 2030. However, the company is focusing on another area that could enable its stock to deliver a 10x or greater return over the next few years: DNA data storage, which presents a $35 billion opportunity. And DNA holds the potential to store data more cost-effectively for longer periods of time than other alternatives.</p><p>Twist has a long way to go on this front. But the company is making progress, including confirming that it can synthesize DNA on a 1-micron chip.</p><p>I think that Twist can get the costs of DNA data storage near $100 per terabyte. If it reaches this milestone, this stock should be a surefire 10-bagger.</p></body></html>","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; charset=utf-8\" />\n<meta name=\"viewport\" content=\"width=device-width,initial-scale=1.0,minimum-scale=1.0,maximum-scale=1.0,user-scalable=no\"/>\n<meta name=\"format-detection\" content=\"telephone=no,email=no,address=no\" />\n<title>3 Stocks that Can Turn $100,000 into $1 Million by 2030</title>\n<style type=\"text/css\">\na,abbr,acronym,address,applet,article,aside,audio,b,big,blockquote,body,canvas,caption,center,cite,code,dd,del,details,dfn,div,dl,dt,\nem,embed,fieldset,figcaption,figure,footer,form,h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6,header,hgroup,html,i,iframe,img,ins,kbd,label,legend,li,mark,menu,nav,\nobject,ol,output,p,pre,q,ruby,s,samp,section,small,span,strike,strong,sub,summary,sup,table,tbody,td,tfoot,th,thead,time,tr,tt,u,ul,var,video{ font:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;vertical-align:baseline;border:0 }\nbody{ font-size:16px; line-height:1.5; color:#999; background:transparent; }\n.wrapper{ overflow:hidden;word-break:break-all;padding:10px; }\nh1,h2{ font-weight:normal; line-height:1.35; margin-bottom:.6em; }\nh3,h4,h5,h6{ line-height:1.35; margin-bottom:1em; }\nh1{ font-size:24px; }\nh2{ font-size:20px; }\nh3{ font-size:18px; }\nh4{ font-size:16px; }\nh5{ font-size:14px; }\nh6{ font-size:12px; }\np,ul,ol,blockquote,dl,table{ margin:1.2em 0; }\nul,ol{ margin-left:2em; }\nul{ list-style:disc; }\nol{ list-style:decimal; }\nli,li p{ margin:10px 0;}\nimg{ max-width:100%;display:block;margin:0 auto 1em; }\nblockquote{ color:#B5B2B1; border-left:3px solid #aaa; padding:1em; }\nstrong,b{font-weight:bold;}\nem,i{font-style:italic;}\ntable{ width:100%;border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:1px;margin:1em 0;font-size:.9em; }\nth,td{ padding:5px;text-align:left;border:1px solid #aaa; }\nth{ font-weight:bold;background:#5d5d5d; }\n.symbol-link{font-weight:bold;}\n/* header{ border-bottom:1px solid #494756; } */\n.title{ margin:0 0 8px;line-height:1.3;color:#ddd; }\n.meta {color:#5e5c6d;font-size:13px;margin:0 0 .5em; }\na{text-decoration:none; color:#2a4b87;}\n.meta .head { display: inline-block; overflow: hidden}\n.head .h-thumb { width: 30px; height: 30px; margin: 0; padding: 0; border-radius: 50%; float: left;}\n.head .h-content { margin: 0; padding: 0 0 0 9px; float: left;}\n.head .h-name {font-size: 13px; color: #eee; margin: 0;}\n.head .h-time {font-size: 11px; color: #7E829C; margin: 0;line-height: 11px;}\n.small {font-size: 12.5px; display: inline-block; transform: scale(0.9); -webkit-transform: scale(0.9); transform-origin: left; -webkit-transform-origin: left;}\n.smaller {font-size: 12.5px; display: inline-block; transform: scale(0.8); -webkit-transform: scale(0.8); transform-origin: left; -webkit-transform-origin: left;}\n.bt-text {font-size: 12px;margin: 1.5em 0 0 0}\n.bt-text p {margin: 0}\n</style>\n</head>\n<body>\n<div class=\"wrapper\">\n<header>\n<h2 class=\"title\">\n3 Stocks that Can Turn $100,000 into $1 Million by 2030\n</h2>\n\n<h4 class=\"meta\">\n\n\n2022-01-07 23:26 GMT+8 <a href=https://www.fool.com/investing/2022/01/07/3-stocks-that-can-turn-100000-into-1-million-by-20/><strong>Motley Fool</strong></a>\n\n\n</h4>\n\n</header>\n<article>\n<div>\n<p>There's something especially alluring about the potential to achieve a 10x return. near-term prospects.</li>\n <li>Even so, current lofty valuation leaves little room for upside investment potential.</li>\n <li>I remain slightly bearish on the company's prospects.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Tesla (TSLA), the undoubted leader in the electric vehicle market, has had the share price run of a lifetime, rising nearly 1,500% over the past 24 months as markets rallied for the post-pandemic surge and the company continued reporting solid sales and income growth.</p>\n<p>I've argued in the past that, although the company has several strong long-term growth avenues to pursue, their long-term prospects are dimmed compared to what analysts have projected, given the amount of competition emerging in the EV industry over the course of the next few years.</p>\n<p>But that's a whole other thing than the company's near-term prospects, which I believe are grand relative to some of the established players shifting over to electric vehicle production, as I've highlighted inmy recent articleon Ford (F). These advantages mean that the company will remain superior in the near term when it comes to profitability and diversity within the EV industry and can best utilize the rapid growth rate the entire industry is expecting.</p>\n<p>The Long-Term Headwinds Haven't Changed</p>\n<p>As I've been highlighting for several months now,Tesla's long-term prospects have dimmedsince other automobile companies like Ford and General Motors (GM) in the United States, NIO (NIO) and others in the Asia-Pacific region and other European and South Korean automobile manufacturers moved up their electrification process timelines. The main reason for this is that these companies have very solid brand recognition, and individuals who have owned these models for years or decades have the option to opt for an electric version of those; they choose those over trying out a new untested model a majority of the time.</p>\n<p>With companies like Ford introducing the all-electric F-150 and others, it's unclear how Tesla can maintain this high growth rate beyond 2024 as these models are expected to hit the streets and begin capturing back market share away from Tesla and other current models. Other factors like Tesla opening up their charging station network to all EV models, as well as a massive capital injection into EV charging stations in the most recent infrastructure spending bill in the United States, will surely help Tesla's income when it charges for the use, but it also helps other companies overcome the main hurdle of widespread adoption - clearing a pathway for more and more EV models to emerge.</p>\n<p>The Short-Term Tailwinds Are Emerging</p>\n<p>Tesla has several near-term tailwinds which will keep way ahead of any competition for the next 12 to 24 months. These mostly all boil down to profitability but also focus on various business model advantages.</p>\n<p>1. A positive profit margin: While other companies are just now beginning to invest in transforming their manufacturing facilities from fossil fuel intake engines to electric vehicle production, Tesla has done this and way more efficiently. Since they've built these from scratch, they've mostly automated the process and thus enjoy a much higher profit margin. Other companies won't see a profit per vehicle for years to come.</p>\n<p>2. Surging battery manufacturing: Although other companies have a mixed position on whether to manufacture their own batteries or set up joint ventures with existing companies, Tesla has been churning out batteries for years and have, as similar with the vehicle manufacturing process, nearly fully automated the process to maximize profits per unit.</p>\n<p>3. International manufacturing: Other companies, thus far, have focused on restructuring and transforming current assembly plants in the United States and will likely take several more years before they do so for other international facilities, which means they will need to spend a fortune shipping these new vehicles around the world to the EMEA and the Asia-Pacific. Tesla, on the other hand, has manufacturing facilities in the United States and in China and is set to open their plant in Germany as well as being in final development stages of an India plant, which will allow them to access a much larger market.</p>\n<p>4. Charging stations advantage: Although the new infrastructure bill in the United States, as well as massive investments in countries like Japan and China, are certain to put in hundreds of thousands of new EV charging stations across the globe, this will take time. So far, only Tesla has a real robust charging network across the world. A recent development, which does have negative elements to it as mentioned earlier, has a positive near term one - they will be raking in net profits from allowing other electric vehicles to charge on their network. This means that they'll likely be profiting from each vehicle their competitors churn out, at least until the scaling up of non-Tesla charging stations takes place.</p>\n<p>5. \"Other Business\" growth rate: While other automobile companies are still spending hand over fist on their other models and products, Tesla enjoys being only in high-growth industries like SolarCity's solar panels and battery sales. As I'll expand on in the next segment, they also don't have near-term or long-term financial obligations from these \"other business\" segments as establishment automobile companies have.</p>\n<p>Balance Sheet Advantages</p>\n<p>Although some elements of their balance sheet advantage are set to help them in the long run as well, they're mostly advantages for the short term since once these other companies begin making a profit from their EV sales - a lot of this will be reversed.</p>\n<p>Tesla's main advantage, as mentioned earlier, is that they're actually raking in cash from each car they sell, allowing them to use that cash to continue and set up more manufacturing facilities and invest in battery technology, solar technology and production increases. This is contrary to other automobile companies which have high financial obligations to their other business segments like pensions and leases. This will further aid the company's overall profit margin, while they don't struggle with such obligations.</p>\n<p>These other companies will need to use profits and cash from their existing legacy business segments to pay for their losses on each vehicle they produce, hurting their overall valuation moving forward.</p>\n<p>Although Tesla has $6.9 billion inlong-term debt, a factor which kept many investors on the sidelines as debt racked up, they currently hold just under $16.3 billion in cash and equivalents, making their net debt position negative. They've been using the cash to pay down their debt as well,reducing their interest expense burdenfrom almost $800 million in 2020 to just over $500 million in 2021. Tesla paid back $15 billion in debt in 2021 for a net debt reduction of $6 billion. There's very little doubt that other automobile companies will be forced to take on more debt to finance increased production and in this raising rate environment, that can snowball.</p>\n<p>Tesla is set to seecash flowof around $10 billion annually whereas a company like Ford has been fluctuating between a net positive and negative cash flow status for the past few years, and that's not expected to change through 2025 as they continue to increase investments in the electrification of their vehicles.</p>\n<p>What About Current Valuation</p>\n<p>Analystscurrently expect the company to report EPS of $5.38 for 2021 and grow at a fast pace to reach EPS of $10.33 for 2024. As I mentioned in my earlier article, I believe that, given comparison with other major automobile companies, the company is fairly valued at around 75x forward earnings.</p>\n<p>I do, however, believe that some of the current competition expectations are overblown for the near term, as I've been mentioning throughout the entire article. Therefore, I do believe that Tesla will outperform current expectations at least through 2023. This means that a 75x forward earnings multiple is the ground base for appropriate valuation, I believe.</p>\n<p>This presents the following fair value, with the implied increase potential:</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/052968e079d7fe8419e4790de451c9fd\" tg-width=\"620\" tg-height=\"201\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\">As you can see, this means that Tesla is almost 40% overvalued relative to earnings expectations, even if they overcome them by as much as 20%. However, given that these expectations are likely to be beaten, I don't believe that shorting the company is a good idea, but one thing that is worth looking out for is a general market correction.</p>\n<p>The Biggest Risk Of Owning Tesla</p>\n<p>The biggest risk with owning Tesla right now is that, in a general market correction, which can happen at any moment as the post-pandemic trade is winding down, companies with lofty expectations tend to fall the most as fair value is sought beyond what their potential is way down the line.</p>\n<p>I don't believe that shorting Tesla is the right approach, even though my disclosures down below and in previous article state that I am, given general market exposure. I am short simply because I don't believe that much upwards potential is there, whilst downward potential in a market correction is vast. So, given that I am mostly long, this short is a general portfolio hedge while I reduce positions in case of a correction.</p>\n<p>In Conclusion</p>\n<p>Tesla has several positive catalysts which should keep them on top of the EV industry growth roster for the next 24 to 36 months, while other companies struggle to make even a single penny on their new vehicles. These are set, I believe, to allow them to beat earnings expectations for that time period.</p>\n<p>Even so, their long-term competitive pressures remain high and as I stated in my previous article - their long-term growth prospects will continue to dim as time moves on.</p>\n<p>Even with these positive near-term advantages, I still believe that the company is overvalued by as much as 40%, and although I do not favor shorting the company for this overvaluation, I remain slightly bearish on their long-term prospects and neutral to slightly bullish on their near-term one.</p>","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; It follows a probe by the Securities and Exchange Commission into the company and public comments made by executives, including its former chairman and CEO Steve Burns.\nLordstown Motors said in a filing Thursday that it has \"received two subpoenas from the SEC for the production of documents and information, including relating to the Merger between DiamondPeak and Legacy Lordstown and pre-orders of vehicles, and we have been informed by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York that it is investigating these matters.\"\nThe company said it has \"cooperated, and will continue to cooperate, with these and any other regulatory or governmental investigations and inquiries.\"\nBurns and his CFO exited the SPAC-backed company following an internal investigation that found \"issues regarding the accuracy of certain statements\" around Lordstown's preorders, specifically the seriousness of the orders and who was making them.\nIn May, short seller Hindenburg Research claimed the company misled investors, including using \"fake\" orders to raise capital for its Endurance electric pickup. The short seller also said the pickup was years away from production. Lordstown has maintained it's on track to start making the vehicle in September.\nLordstown previously said the internal investigation found Hindenburg's report \"is, in significant respects, false and misleading.\"\nLordstown went public through a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, in October. good reason. Persistently low lending rates have allowed fast-growing companies abundant access to cheap capital that they've been able to use to hire new employees, acquire other businesses, and innovate for the future. With the nation's central bank standing firm on its monetary policy, at least in the near-term, growth stocks should continue to thrive.</p>\n<p>Of course, not all growth stocks are created equally. The following five companies are projected by Wall Street to be some of the fastest-growing stocks on the planet over the next four or five years, assuming analysts' sales projections (per <b>FactSet</b>) come to fruition.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ccad26103b3c97bbb65d0cad160f21b9\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"489\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/SNOW\">Snowflake</a>: Implied five-year sales growth of 819%</h2>\n<p>Among cloud stocks, you'd struggle to find a company with a persistently higher annualized growth rate than <b>Snowflake</b> (NYSE:SNOW). After bringing in $592 million in full-year sales in fiscal 2021, Wall Street is looking for the company to deliver $5.44 billion in annual sales in fiscal 2026.</p>\n<p>What really has Wall Street excited are Snowflake's plain-as-day competitive advantages. Most notably, its cloud data-warehousing solutions are layered atop the most-popular infrastructure storage solutions. Whereas it can be difficult for businesses to share data that's stored on competing cloud service providers, this sharing of information is seamless for Snowflake's customers.</p>\n<p>Snowflake also shunned the subscription-based operating model in favor of a pay-as-you-go model. By charging its clients for the amount of data stored and the number of Snowflake Compute Credits used, the company is making its pricing transparent and potentially more cost-effective for users.</p>\n<p>While there's no question Snowflake is <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of the fastest-growing stocks on the planet, where the company's stock should be valued is debatable. Though some premium is merited for such consistently high growth rates, I'm not so sure paying 71 times sales for this year makes sense for a company that's still many years away from profitability. There may not be significant downside here, but I also fail to see how this valuation stretches much further to the upside.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/df219df7b01fbc2aa008c455f28b99e5\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Teladoc Health: Implied five-year sales growth of 416%</h2>\n<p>Healthcare stocks on the leading edge of innovation are a pretty good bet to be among the fastest-growing stocks on the planet through mid-decade. Telehealth services giant <b>Teladoc Health</b> (NYSE:TDOC) is expected to see its annual sales climb from a reported $1.09 billion in 2020 to an estimated $5.62 billion by 2025. That's an increase of 416%, for those of you keeping score at home.</p>\n<p>Even though Teladoc found itself in an ideal scenario in 2020, with the coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc in the U.S., this was a company growing sales by an annualized average of 74% in the six years leading up to the pandemic. In other words, we're clearly not talking about a one-hit wonder.</p>\n<p>Telemedicine is the future of healthcare in the U.S. and globally. While not all appointments can be conducted virtually, telehealth visits will provide added convenience for patients and make it considerably easier for doctor's to keep tabs on patients with chronic illnesses. This ease-of-use should result in improved patient outcomes, which'll mean less money out of the pockets of insurers.</p>\n<p>Teladoc's rapid growth is also a function of its buyout of applied health signals company Livongo Health in the fourth quarter. Livongo leans on artificial intelligence to send its chronically ill members tips to help them lead healthier lives. It ended the first quarter with 658,000 diabetes members, and the company was already profitable before being bought out by Teladoc. As a combined company, this duo looks unstoppable.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://g.foolcdn.com/image/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fg.foolcdn.com%2Feditorial%2Fimages%2F635018%2Fsquare-cash-card-cash-app.jpg&w=700&op=resize\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"520\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Image source: Square.</span></p>\n<h2>Square: Implied five-year sales growth of 299%</h2>\n<p>Fintech stock <b>Square</b> (NYSE:SQ) is also projected to be one of the fastest-growing companies on the planet through the midpoint of the decade. Following its sales surge in 2020 to $9.5 billion, Wall Street's consensus for 2025 is that it'll bring in $37.86 billion. That's a hair shy of a quadrupling in sales in five years.</p>\n<p>Square's most foundational growth driver, its seller ecosystem, will continue to point the needle higher. The amount of gross payment volume (GPV) traversing its network grew by an annualized average of 49% in the seven years leading up to the pandemic, but tailed off considerably in 2020 as merchants closed up shop due to the pandemic. With the U.S. economy reopening, Square looks to be on track for strong double-digit GPV growth this year.</p>\n<p>However, the company's key growth driver is digital peer-to-peer platform Cash App. Cash App's monthly active user count more than quintupled since the end of 2017 to 36 million, and it's been a consistently more popular download than <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/PYPL\">PayPal</a></b>'s Venmo. All told, Cash App allows Square to generate revenue from bank transfers, merchant purchases, and investments, which includes <b>Bitcoin</b> exchange and trading.</p>\n<p>As of the end of 2020, the typical Cash App user was generating $41 in gross profit for Square, compared to less than $5 to acquire each new monthly active user. That's a heck of a trade-off that should make Square's shareholders very happy.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/75c8c7cdfeae935529dbccbf6b0c507c\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"490\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Jushi Holdings: Implied four-year sales growth of 1,100%</h2>\n<p>The U.S. cannabis industry is home to a number of companies that'll deliver triple-digit sales growth over the next four or five years. But marijuana stock <b>Jushi Holdings</b> (OTC:JUSHF) might have them all beat, with sales growth expected to hit 1,100% by 2024 ($81 million in 2020 to $972 million in 2024).</p>\n<p>Compared to other multistate operators, Jushi is a tiny tot. It has 20 operational dispensaries at the moment, with 13 of those retail locations in Pennsylvania. The real key to Jushi's strategy is targeting markets that offer some level of competitive protection. That's why it's chosen to focus on Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Virginia.</p>\n<p>While all three of these markets offer billion-dollar annual sales potential -- Illinois surpassed $1 billion in weed sales for the first time in 2020 -- the real lure is that they limit how many retail licenses are issued in total, as well as to individual businesses. Pennsylvania and Illinois have preset caps in place, whereas Virginia assigns licenses based on jurisdiction. This effectively limits Jushi's competition and ensures it'll be able to build up its brand and grab a loyal following.</p>\n<p>Investors should also note that, despite its relatively small market cap, Jushi isn't afraid to go shopping. In January, the company acquired two dispensaries in California, the largest weed market in the world by annual sales. It also bought its way into Nevada in April. The Silver State is projected to lead the country in cannabis spending per capita by mid-decade. Tesla brought in $31.5 billion in full-year sales in 2020, but Wall Street's consensus has the company pegged for $116.64 billion in sales by 2025.</p>\n<p>Tesla is a clear and obvious beneficiary of the U.S. and most developed countries wanting to pursue cleaner energy solutions in order to reduce long-term carbon dioxide emissions. It's the first automaker in more than five decades to successfully build itself from the ground up to mass production, and it offers definitive first-mover advantages in the United States.</p>\n<p>In particular, Tesla Motors' battery technology remains unsurpassed, at least for the time being. The company's batteries have better range, more power, and higher capacity than the competition. Considering that cash is no longer a concern, the company has more than enough capital to continue constructing new Gigafactories to assemble its vehicles and produce batteries.</p>\n<p>But like Snowflake, valuation is a serious concern. You'd think a company with a $620 billion market cap, as of this past weekend, would be able to generate a profit from the products or services it sells. That's not the case with Tesla. Its adjusted profits have always come from selling renewable energy credits to other automakers or selling its digital assets (Bitcoin) for a profit. Despite the broad-based <b>S&P 500</b> shedding 34% of its value in about a month during the first quarter of 2020, we've watched the benchmark index catapult more than 90% off of its lows.</p>\n<p>For some investors, volatility is something they fear. But for predominantly young and novice retail investors, volatility is the impetus that's driven them to put their money to work in the stock market.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/99b3853458b2424e2901821012f5502f\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<p>As volatility has whipsawed the market, these younger retail investors have found their home with online investing app Robinhood. We know this because Robinhood added approximately 3 million new users in 2020.</p>\n<p>There are a number of lures for retail investors with Robinhood. For example, Robinhood doesn't charge a commission when stocks that are listed on the New York Stock Exchange or <b>Nasdaq</b> exchange are bought or sold. Robinhood is also <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> of many brokerages that allows for fractional share investing. And, who can forget that Robinhood also gifts free shares of stock to new users.</p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> respect, it's a fantastic thing to see young people putting their money to work. Time is the biggest ally investors have. The earlier they start putting their money to work, the better chance they have of compounding their nest egg.</p>\n<p>On the other hand, Robinhood's retail investors have been buying some really awful stocks. Instead of thinking for the long-term, their buying activity demonstrates a willingness to chase momentum plays, penny stocks, and money-losing businesses.</p>\n<p>If you don't believe me, here's a closer look at the 50 most-held Robinhood stocks as we enter July.</p>\n<table width=\"492\">\n <thead>\n <tr>\n <th>Company</th>\n <th>Company</th>\n </tr>\n </thead>\n <tbody>\n <tr>\n <td>1. <b>Tesla Motors</b> (NASDAQ:TSLA)</td>\n <td>26. <b>Snap </b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>2. <b>Apple </b></td>\n <td>27. <b>Alibaba </b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>3. <b>AMC Entertainment</b> (NYSE:AMC)</td>\n <td>28. <b>Bank of America</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>4. <b>Sundial Growers</b> (NASDAQ:SNDL)</td>\n <td>29. <b>OrganiGram Holdings</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>5. <b>Ford Motor</b></td>\n <td>30. <b>Coinbase Global</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>6. <b>General Electric</b></td>\n <td>31. <b>Tilray </b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>7. <b>NIO </b></td>\n <td>32. <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/FB\">Facebook</a> </b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>8. <b>Walt Disney</b></td>\n <td>33. <b>Canopy Growth </b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>9. <b>Microsoft</b></td>\n <td>34. <b>Advanced Micro Devices</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>10. <b>Amazon </b></td>\n <td>35. <b>Starbucks</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>11. <b>American Airlines Group</b> (NASDAQ:AAL)</td>\n <td>36. <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/TWTR\">Twitter</a></b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>12. <b>Plug Power</b></td>\n <td>37. <b>AT&T</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>13. <b>Nokia</b></td>\n <td>38. <b>Moderna</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>14. <b>Carnival</b></td>\n <td>39. <b>NVIDIA</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>15. <b>Aurora Cannabis</b> (NASDAQ:ACB)</td>\n <td>40. <b>FuelCell Energy</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>16. <b>Pfizer</b></td>\n <td>41. <b>Vanguard S&P 500 ETF</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>17. <b>Zomedica </b></td>\n <td>42. <b>Coca-Cola</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>18. <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/GPRO\">GoPro</a> </b></td>\n <td>43. <b>Norwegian Cruise Line</b> (NYSE:NCLH)</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>19. <b>Naked Brand Group</b></td>\n <td>44. <b>Ideanomics</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>20. <b>Palantir Technologies</b></td>\n <td>45. <b>Workhorse Group</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>21. <b>GameStop</b> (NYSE:GME)</td>\n <td>46. <b>SPDR S&P 500 ETF</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>22. <b>Delta Air Lines </b></td>\n <td>47. <b>Virgin Galactic</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>23. <b>BlackBerry</b></td>\n <td>48. <b>General Motors</b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>24. <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/CCC.U\">Churchill Capital</a></b></td>\n <td>49. <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/ZNGA\">Zynga</a></b></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>25. <b>Netflix </b></td>\n <td>50. <b>United Airlines</b></td>\n </tr>\n </tbody>\n</table>\n<p>Data source: Robinhood, as of June 26, 2021. Table by author.</p>\n<h2>Continuing to chase meme stocks</h2>\n<p>Like bees to honey, retail investors have been inseparable from meme stocks for almost six months. A meme stock is a company valued more for its social media favorability/hype than its operating performance.</p>\n<p>Since mid-January, retail investors have been banding together to buy shares and out-of-the-money call options on stocks with high levels of short interest. In many instances, companies with high levels of short interest have poor-performing businesses. This is how we've witnessed GameStop and AMC Entertainment become extremely popular on Robinhood.</p>\n<p>The good news for GameStop is that it's been able to use its monumental run to sell shares of common stock and raise capital. It's completely erased its debt and given itself more than enough cash to oversee its ongoing transformation into a digital gaming company. To be clear, this doesn't negate the fact that GameStop's previous management team completely dropped the ball on the shift to digital gaming. What it does do is give the company enough capital to at least attempt a transformation.</p>\n<p>The same can't be said for AMC, which sold the vast majority of its shares six months ago to avoid bankruptcy. Even with a handful of recent capital raises, AMC has well over $3 billion in net debt, and its 2027 bond prices indicate the company is still a bankruptcy risk.</p>\n<p>To make matters worse, movie theater ticket sales have been in a 19-year decline. Even with a larger share of the movie theater industry, AMC's pie is shrinking. It's pretty clear that social media hype, ignorance of fundamental data, and misinformation are the key drivers behind AMC's irrational rally.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bc514068ded899a817770f684369db36\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Canadian cannabis binge</h2>\n<p>Robinhood's retail investors also have quite the crush on Canadian marijuana stocks. Five of the 33 most-held companies on Robinhood's leaderboard hail from our neighbor to the north.</p>\n<p>Even though cannabis-focused research company BDSA has forecasted weed sales growth in Canada from $2.6 billion in 2020 to $6.4 billion by 2026, the Canadian pot industry has been a disaster. Regulators have caused all sorts of supply chain issues, consumers have flocked to lower-margin value brands, and Canadian marijuana stocks overzealously expanded and, in some instances, decimated their balance sheets in the process.</p>\n<p>Robinhood investors' fascination with Sundial Growers is nothing short of frustrating. It may well be the single most-avoidable marijuana stock. Although its management team was able to pay off the company's existing debt by issuing stock and conducting debt-for-equity swaps, these share offerings simply haven't stopped. In a little over a seven-month stretch, more than 1.35 billion shares were issued. Sundial is showing zero regard for its shareholders, and its management team hasn't even laid out a concrete plan for how it'll spend its cash.</p>\n<p>We've seen similar issues from Aurora Cannabis, the second most-popular Canadian weed stock. Once the most-held stock on Robinhood, Aurora has drowned its shareholders in dilution. Even after selling one of its greenhouses and shuttering a number of other cultivation facilities, its cost-cutting has put it nowhere near close to generating a profit. As long as Aurora keeps burning through cash, its management team will continue to issue stock.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e0e9f554fbd3314fbbb8ba78c5a65d3e\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"524\"><span>Image source: American Airlines.</span></p>\n<h2>An obsession with travel companies</h2>\n<p>Another absolute head-scratcher is Robinhood investors' obsession with travel companies -- specifically airlines and cruise ship operators.</p>\n<p>On one hand, the case could be made that the coronavirus pandemic overly punished the travel industry. Though we remain firmly in a global pandemic, increased domestic vaccination rates offer hope that the U.S. could soon put the pandemic in the rearview mirror. For instance, the Transportation Security Administration screened over 2 million passengers in a single day in mid-June for the first time since before the pandemic was declared.</p>\n<p>On the other hand, the travel industry tends to be built on mediocre margins, at best, and it typically requires the economy to be running on all cylinders. Despite recovering from a recession, most airline stocks are now lugging around billions in extra debt that they didn't have two years ago. American Airlines, which I've previously anointed as the worst airline stock, has $34 billion in net debt and $48 billion in aggregate debt. The interest American Airlines is going to have to pay to service this debt could cripple its growth initiatives for the next decade.</p>\n<p>Meanwhile, companies like Norwegian Cruise Line came perilously close to bankruptcy during the pandemic. Unlike airlines, which are essential for business travel, cruise ships aren't essential. They'll remain at the mercy of the pandemic until it's firmly in the rearview mirror. That means Norwegian may continue losing money well into 2022, if not beyond.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2bd808070a9dde55f37210b59edc2e23\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"393\"><span>A Tesla Model S plugged in for charging. Image source: Tesla.</span></p>\n<h2>Alternative energy for autos in focus</h2>\n<p>Lastly, Robinhood investors appear to be going all-in on anything that has to do with alternative/clean energy for vehicles.</p>\n<p>Electric vehicle (EV) kingpin Tesla has surpassed Apple to become the most-held stock on the platform, while Ford, General Motors, Workhorse Group, NIO, and Churchill Capital are other EV producers that found their way into the top 50 leaderboard (GM and Ford predominantly produce combustion-engine vehicles at the moment). If we also include Plug Power, FuelCell Energy, and Ideanomics, that's nine of the top 48 Robinhood stocks that are devoted to alternative energy adoption for autos.</p>\n<p>There's pretty much no question at this point that EVs and potentially hydrogen fuel cells represent the future of the automotive industry. There's a multi-decade opportunity for consumers and enterprise fleets to switch over to alternative solutions, as well as for ancillary players to build the infrastructure necessary to support EVs and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.</p>\n<p>The issue is that investors have a tendency to overestimate how quickly new technology is adopted, and that's likely what we're witnessing with EVs. Despite the broad-based S&P 500 shedding 34% of its value in about a month during the first quarter of 2020, we've watched the benchmark index catapult more than 90% off of its lows.\nFor some investors, volatility is something they fear. But for predominantly young and novice retail investors, volatility is the impetus that's driven them to put their money to work in the stock market.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nAs volatility has whipsawed the market, these younger retail investors have found their home with online investing app Robinhood. We know this because Robinhood added approximately 3 million new users in 2020.\nThere are a number of lures for retail investors with Robinhood. For example, Robinhood doesn't charge a commission when stocks that are listed on the New York Stock Exchange or Nasdaq exchange are bought or sold. Robinhood is also one of many brokerages that allows for fractional share investing. And, who can forget that Robinhood also gifts free shares of stock to new users.\nIn one respect, it's a fantastic thing to see young people putting their money to work. Time is the biggest ally investors have. The earlier they start putting their money to work, the better chance they have of compounding their nest egg.\nOn the other hand, Robinhood's retail investors have been buying some really awful stocks. Instead of thinking for the long-term, their buying activity demonstrates a willingness to chase momentum plays, penny stocks, and money-losing businesses.\nIf you don't believe me, here's a closer look at the 50 most-held Robinhood stocks as we enter July.\n\n\n\nCompany\nCompany\n\n\n\n\n1. Table by author.\nContinuing to chase meme stocks\nLike bees to honey, retail investors have been inseparable from meme stocks for almost six months. A meme stock is a company valued more for its social media favorability/hype than its operating performance.\nSince mid-January, retail investors have been banding together to buy shares and out-of-the-money call options on stocks with high levels of short interest. In many instances, companies with high levels of short interest have poor-performing businesses. This is how we've witnessed GameStop and AMC Entertainment become extremely popular on Robinhood.\nThe good news for GameStop is that it's been able to use its monumental run to sell shares of common stock and raise capital. It's completely erased its debt and given itself more than enough cash to oversee its ongoing transformation into a digital gaming company. To be clear, this doesn't negate the fact that GameStop's previous management team completely dropped the ball on the shift to digital gaming. What it does do is give the company enough capital to at least attempt a transformation.\nThe same can't be said for AMC, which sold the vast majority of its shares six months ago to avoid bankruptcy. Even with a handful of recent capital raises, AMC has well over $3 billion in net debt, and its 2027 bond prices indicate the company is still a bankruptcy risk.\nTo make matters worse, movie theater ticket sales have been in a 19-year decline. Even with a larger share of the movie theater industry, AMC's pie is shrinking. It's pretty clear that social media hype, ignorance of fundamental data, and misinformation are the key drivers behind AMC's irrational rally.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nCanadian cannabis binge\nRobinhood's retail investors also have quite the crush on Canadian marijuana stocks. Five of the 33 most-held companies on Robinhood's leaderboard hail from our neighbor to the north.\nEven though cannabis-focused research company BDSA has forecasted weed sales growth in Canada from $2.6 billion in 2020 to $6.4 billion by 2026, the Canadian pot industry has been a disaster. Regulators have caused all sorts of supply chain issues, consumers have flocked to lower-margin value brands, and Canadian marijuana stocks overzealously expanded and, in some instances, decimated their balance sheets in the process.\nRobinhood investors' fascination with Sundial Growers is nothing short of frustrating. It may well be the single most-avoidable marijuana stock. Although its management team was able to pay off the company's existing debt by issuing stock and conducting debt-for-equity swaps, these share offerings simply haven't stopped. In a little over a seven-month stretch, more than 1.35 billion shares were issued. Sundial is showing zero regard for its shareholders, and its management team hasn't even laid out a concrete plan for how it'll spend its cash.\nWe've seen similar issues from Aurora Cannabis, the second most-popular Canadian weed stock. Once the most-held stock on Robinhood, Aurora has drowned its shareholders in dilution. Even after selling one of its greenhouses and shuttering a number of other cultivation facilities, its cost-cutting has put it nowhere near close to generating a profit. As long as Aurora keeps burning through cash, its management team will continue to issue stock.\nImage source: American Airlines.\nAn obsession with travel companies\nAnother absolute head-scratcher is Robinhood investors' obsession with travel companies -- specifically airlines and cruise ship operators.\nOn one hand, the case could be made that the coronavirus pandemic overly punished the travel industry. Though we remain firmly in a global pandemic, increased domestic vaccination rates offer hope that the U.S. could soon put the pandemic in the rearview mirror. For instance, the Transportation Security Administration screened over 2 million passengers in a single day in mid-June for the first time since before the pandemic was declared.\nOn the other hand, the travel industry tends to be built on mediocre margins, at best, and it typically requires the economy to be running on all cylinders. Despite recovering from a recession, most airline stocks are now lugging around billions in extra debt that they didn't have two years ago. American Airlines, which I've previously anointed as the worst airline stock, has $34 billion in net debt and $48 billion in aggregate debt. The interest American Airlines is going to have to pay to service this debt could cripple its growth initiatives for the next decade.\nMeanwhile, companies like Norwegian Cruise Line came perilously close to bankruptcy during the pandemic. Unlike airlines, which are essential for business travel, cruise ships aren't essential. They'll remain at the mercy of the pandemic until it's firmly in the rearview mirror. That means Norwegian may continue losing money well into 2022, if not beyond.\nA Tesla Model S plugged in for charging. Image source: Tesla.\nAlternative energy for autos in focus\nLastly, Robinhood investors appear to be going all-in on anything that has to do with alternative/clean energy for vehicles.\nElectric vehicle (EV) kingpin Tesla has surpassed Apple to become the most-held stock on the platform, while Ford, General Motors, Workhorse Group, NIO, and Churchill Capital are other EV producers that found their way into the top 50 leaderboard (GM and Ford predominantly produce combustion-engine vehicles at the moment). If we also include Plug Power, FuelCell Energy, and Ideanomics, that's nine of the top 48 Robinhood stocks that are devoted to alternative energy adoption for autos.\nThere's pretty much no question at this point that EVs and potentially hydrogen fuel cells represent the future of the automotive industry. There's a multi-decade opportunity for consumers and enterprise fleets to switch over to alternative solutions, as well as for ancillary players to build the infrastructure necessary to support EVs and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.\nThe issue is that investors have a tendency to overestimate how quickly new technology is adopted, and that's likely what we're witnessing with EVs. The fact that Tesla is worth $647 billion is ludicrous considering that it hasn't demonstrated it can generate a profit from selling its EVs. The only way Tesla has been able to generate a profit is by selling renewable energy credits or taking a one-time benefit from the sale of Bitcoin.\nThe EV space is growing increasingly more crowded, and the major auto stocks are investing tens of billions into new models. It's unlikely that Tesla will be able to hold onto its competitive edge for much longer.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":23,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
