I decided to ask it which cryptos to buy.</p><p>There’s <i>a lot</i> that goes into AI algorithms and programming, so much so that it soars over the head of the layman. It’s these seemingly-unending layers of engineering that allow us to prompt the tool to fix our code, write us stories or explain complex subjects to us. In making investment decisions, the tool works no differently.</p><p>I recently logged onto ChatGPT and asked it to recommend me 10 cryptos to buy based on growth potential. This is the list it gave me:</p><ul><li><b>Ethereum</b>(<b>ETH-USD</b>)</li><li><b>Solana</b>(<b><u>SOL-USD</u></b>)</li><li><b>Polkadot</b>(<b><u>DOT-USD</u></b>)</li><li><b>Avalanche</b>(<b><u>AVAX-USD</u></b>)</li><li><b>Cosmos</b>(<b><u>ATOM-USD</u></b>)</li><li><b>Chainlink</b>(<b><u>LINK-USD</u></b>)</li><li><b>Algorand</b>(<b>ALGO-USD</b>)</li><li><b>Polygon</b>(<b>MATIC-USD</b>)</li><li><b>Terra</b>(<b>LUNA-USD</b>)</li><li><b>Binance Coin</b>(<b>BNB-USD</b>)</li></ul><p><b>ChatGPT Explains Its “Cryptos to Buy” Methodology</b></p><p>ChatGPT’s recommended list of cryptos to buy is pretty interesting. I asked it to explain its methodology a bit, and was surprised to find that the tool utilizes both qualitative and quantitative data in weighing its opinions.</p><p>Unsurprisingly, the first thing ChatGPT used to make its recommendation was quantitative chart analysis — a favorite methodology used by crypto die-hards far and wide:</p><blockquote>“I selected the top 10 cryptocurrencies with the highest market capitalizations, which are generally considered to be the most established and widely adopted cryptocurrencies in the market. From there, I considered their historical performance, looking at factors such as price trends, trading volume and market share to identify which cryptocurrencies have demonstrated strong growth potential over time.”</blockquote><p>What was more interesting was ChatGPT’s use of qualitative data in weighing its picks. The AI says it analyzes each products’ “underlying technology, use cases, adoption and regulatory environment” in making its selections.</p><p><b>ChatGPT Defends Its Picks for Cryptos to Buy</b></p><p>This holistic approach to crypto analysis ensures the AI makes recommendations based less on price momentum and more on strong fundamentals. However, seeing some interesting inclusions (and one very noticeable exclusion), I felt the need to press it more.</p><p>Why Terra? The project has seen complete and utter failure at the hands of poor management in the last year, and its founder has been on the run from the law ever since the original project imploded and bankrupted several companies. ChatGPT admits it could be a lack of information which prompted the pick; indeed, if the tool had data on the project since its mid-May collapse, it would likely have better judgement than to pick a project many consider flawed and unwanted by the community at-large.</p><p>And, of course, why is there no <b>Bitcoin</b>(<b>BTC-USD</b>)? It’s the largest of cryptos, easily the most recognizable and the one which prompted the crypto movement in the first place. It appears that from both quantitative and qualitative standpoints, ChatGPT remains skeptical of Bitcoin’s future:</p><blockquote>“While [Bitcoin] may continue to grow over time, it may not experience the same level of growth as some of the newer cryptocurrencies that are still in the early stages of development. Additionally, Bitcoin’s use case is primarily as a store of value and a digital currency, whereas some of the other cryptocurrencies that I recommended have more specific use cases and potential for growth in specific industries or markets.”</blockquote><p><b>Who Does ChatGPT Expect to Win the Layer-1 Race?</b></p><p>As for the rest of the list of cryptos to buy, investors might be impressed by ChatGPT’s crypto picking abilities. Lots of the other cryptos recommended are wildly popular projects, and they all have great potential for growth. One thing to note is that seven of the ten are primarily layer-1 dapp networks. Binance hosts a BNB Chain alongside its exchange platform, making for a total of eight.</p><p>With this in mind, I was interested in hearing ChatGPT’s take on the battle between layer-1 networks to compete with and potentially overtake Ethereum. It positions Solana, Polkadot and Avalanche as three of the most likely projects to surpass Ethereum in the coming years.</p><p>Solana, it says, has an edge due to its low cost and high scalability, but notes a downside in its “proof of history” consensus mechanism being nascent and untested as opposed to proof of stake. Meanwhile, the AI praises Polkadot’s interoperability, but acknowledges the project’s governance structure “could lead to potential centralization issues in the future.”</p><p>Regarding Avalanche, the program speaks highly of its own unique consensus. But, it acknowledges the drawback that like Solana, it is unproven, and like Polkadot, it could lead to higher centralization.</p><p>In all, the AI provides some very nuanced takes on each project. I am quite impressed by the depth at which ChatGPT analyzes these investments, and many other investors likely feel the same. However, the drawbacks are quite clear, as it seems to lack the most up-to-date information on each project. In a market where news moves exceptionally fast and projects can soar or tank in minutes, this is a major fault line in the tool.</p><p>For this, the AI is very careful to respond to each question with the ever-popular crypto catchphrase of “do your own research.” For example, it stated, “Conduct your own research and consider all available information, including any potential risks and challenges, before making any investment decisions.” When pressed on whether or not asking the tool these questions <i>was</i> doing my own research, it pointed me to speak with investing professionals before buying any of its recommendations.</p><p><b>What Does ChatGPT See for the Future of Crypto?</b></p><p>Obviously, ChatGPT has a robust set of data on the cryptocurrency world. And, it can pick from this pool of data to give some insightful opinions on individual projects. Before logging off to free up capacity for other curious users, I had to hear the AI’s predictions for the future of crypto.</p><p>The model assumes a fairly positive outlook for the crypto market in 2023. It predicts an overall-bullish trajectory for the industry, primarily due to the increasing adoption of crypto and blockchain technology by institutions. “We have seen more and more companies and financial institutions embrace cryptocurrencies as a legitimate asset class, and this trend is expected to continue.” It also gives credit to the increasing functionality of new projects as a reason to believe more investors will enter into the space.</p><p>Moreover, the model has a more optimistic take on regulations than many may care to admit. Indeed, while the Securities &amp; Exchange Commission, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the European Union and countless others crack down on projects, the AI argues this is good news. Meanwhile, Peloton is stuck with a higher expense base because of its investments to increase capacity. In its most recent quarter ended Sept. 30, Peloton reported a net loss of $367 million compared to a net profit of $69.3 million at the same time last year.</p><p>To make matters worse, Peloton had decreased the price of its bike from $1,895 to $1,495. The move did create increased purchasing from price-sensitive consumers but not enough to offset the considerable price decrease. As a result, revenue in the connected-fitness-products segment (which includes bike sales) fell from $601 million in the third quarter of 2020 to $501 million in Q3 2021. Meanwhile, supply-chain disruptions are raising input and transportation costs; the cost to fulfill sales increased by 21.1% year over year in Q3.</p><p>One potential, near-term bright spot for Peloton is the $1.27 billion of inventory it had on hand ahead of the lucrative holiday shopping season -- up from $937 million in the prior quarter. The quarter ending in December typically is the most lucrative for Peloton, coinciding with not only holiday gift-giving but also new year resolution-induced purchasing. The announcements will come just days after a federal judge ruled that Apple <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AAPL\">$(AAPL)$</a> could no longer prohibit app developers from offering alternate payment options beyond Apple's own in-app payment service, in a signal of the increasing backlash against the dominance of big technology companies.</p>\n<p>But the average iPhone user is likely unconcerned with the machinations of in-app payments, and they will be Apple's target audience as the company rolls out its new lineup. The phones are expected to feature improvements to camera and video functions but have a similar design to last year's models.</p>\n<p>The rumored upgrades mark perhaps more incremental improvements to the iPhone, unlike a year ago, when Apple brought 5G connectivity to its handsets for the first time and changed the phone's design. The iPhone 12 lineup has been selling well, and analysts seem generally upbeat about potential demand for the iPhone 13 family as well, despite what could be a lack of blockbuster feature upgrades.</p>\n<p>\"Given an improved economy, expanded 5G coverage, and low 5G smartphone ownership, we expect the iPhone 13 family to receive an enthusiastic reception,\" wrote Monness, Crespi, Hardt &amp; Co. analyst Brian White.</p>\n<p>Here's what to watch for at Tuesday's event, which kicks off virtually at 1 p.m. ET.</p>\n<p><b>iPhone</b></p>\n<p>The iPhone has been the centerpiece of Apple's fall events and should be again this year.</p>\n<p>The company is expected to roll out four new phones, just as it did last year, featuring a similar design. One possible change from a visual standpoint is a smaller notch on the top of the phones, but otherwise the devices shouldn't look too different from their predecessors. MacRumors predicts that some rumored changes, like the disappearance of the Lightning charging port or the return of a fingerprint sensor, won't actually manifest in the upcoming models.</p>\n<p>Apple isn't likely to change the sizes of its phones this year, according to MacRumors, which is looking for the company to roll out a 5.4-inch iPhone mini, a 6.1-inch iPhone, a 6.1-inch iPhone Pro and a 6.7-inch iPhone Pro Max.</p>\n<p>The biggest improvements could come to the camera. Apple is reportedly planning to introduce a video version of its Portrait Mode setting, according to Bloomberg News, which would let users capture videos with blurred backgrounds. The company is also looking to add a ProRes recording capability that would allow for high-resolution footage as well as new photo-diting functions that would let people make pictures warmer or cooler, without affecting the white tones, per the report.</p>\n<p>There's also been talk of potential satellite capabilities in the next iPhones. Shares of satellite-communications company Globalstar Inc. surged after a report indicated that Apple was including low-earth orbit <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/LEO\">$(LEO)$</a> satellite communications so that users would be able to place calls or send messages without 4G or 5G cellular connections, but a second report suggested that Apple may limit this feature to emergency communications.</p>\n<p><b>Augmented reality</b></p>\n<p>Apple's landing page for the Sept. 14 event contained an Easter egg for iPhone users, allowing them to click on the Apple logo and view it in augmented reality on top of their surroundings. That suggests to <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/EFFE\">Global X</a> research analyst Pedro Palandrani that the company could be planning a significant AR announcement.</p>\n<p>The \"easy answer\" is that Apple would introduce a new AR feature for the iPhone, but there's \"not much to do there at this point,\" Palandrani told MarketWatch. \"I wouldn't be surprised if we get to see some Apple glasses,\" he continued, referring to the oft-discussed possibility that Apple would develop a form of AR glasses. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/FB\">Facebook</a> Inc. (FB) recently unveiled its own pair of smart glasses.</p>\n<p>Whether Apple would be able to sell the hypothetical smart glasses immediately remains a question for Palandrani, given supply constraints impacting the broader consumer-electronics industry.</p>\n<p>\"Maybe they don't have the ability at this time to mass manufacture that type of device,\" he said, but in the near term, it's \"certainly a possibility.\"</p>\n<p>Evercore ISI analyst Amit Daryanani wrote that he sees \"a LONG SHOT that we finally get an AR/VR product announcement.\"</p>\n<p><b>Apple Watch</b></p>\n<p>Apple could be planning a design change to its next Apple Watch, as rumors indicate the company is looking to slightly increase its screen sizes and make the casing style more similar to what's seen on the iPhone 12 line.</p>\n<p>The Apple Watch 7 could come in 41-millimeter and 45-millimeter screen sizes, according to Bloomberg News, up from 40 millimeters and 44 millimeters currently. Bloomberg isn't anticipating any meaningful health upgrades, noting that a body-temperature scanner may not show up until next year's models come out.</p>\n<p>The devices are expected to have a flat-edged look, according to MacRumors, similar to what the iPhone 12 line sports. There were indications that Apple faced production issues with the Apple Watch 7, mainly due to the new design, but MacRumors cited a recent report from noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said that Apple has resolved its issues and still looks to be on track with its planned launch.</p>\n<p><b>AirPods</b></p>\n<p>Apple could also be set to launch a refreshed version of its entry-level AirPods headphones. Beyond the base model, Apple offers a Pro version of the earbuds and a set of high-quality, over-the-ear headphones, and Apple may borrow some features from those as it jazzes up its regular AirPods.</p>\n<p>To start, the company is expected to change up the design a bit, putting a shorter stem on the new AirPods, similar to what's seen on the AirPods Pro. However, it will likely need to earn significantly more for its current valuation to remain at these lofty levels.</p>\n<p>The company expects to earn $500 million in revenue in 2021 -- which would represent 114% in yearly revenue growth -- and based on the Q1 result, this could translate to over $40 million in net income.</p>\n<p>For the company to keep up this pace, it will most likely need new catalysts, and it likely has them.&nbsp;Upstart is now offering its platform technology to auto financiers, to capture a piece of the single largest lending segment after housing. Total auto loans in the U.S. grew to $1.37 trillion in 2020, and car shortages have led to higher prices and pent up demand across the board.</p>\n<p>The company has trailing 12-month revenue of $290 million, so the stock currently trades at a revenue multiple of roughly 38 times. That's higher than <b>Tesla</b>'s! The question for investors is whether there is enough upside potential from here to warrant that risk. Upstart is guiding for a similar amount of net income in the second quarter as it delivered in Q1, putting the company on track to generate less than $50 million this year. The rise in popularity among AI image generators like <b>Jasper</b> and <b>DeepAI</b> last year were just the early stages of the much larger boom happening right now. Tools like <b>OpenAI’s</b> ChatGPT have taken the world by storm, for better or for worse. Now, anybody can go to theChatGPT website(when it’s not at capacity) and ask it any question they want. I decided to ask it which cryptos to buy.</p><p>There’s <i>a lot</i> that goes into AI algorithms and programming, so much so that it soars over the head of the layman. It’s these seemingly-unending layers of engineering that allow us to prompt the tool to fix our code, write us stories or explain complex subjects to us. In making investment decisions, the tool works no differently.</p><p>I recently logged onto ChatGPT and asked it to recommend me 10 cryptos to buy based on growth potential. This is the list it gave me:</p><ul><li><b>Ethereum</b>(<b>ETH-USD</b>)</li><li><b>Solana</b>(<b><u>SOL-USD</u></b>)</li><li><b>Polkadot</b>(<b><u>DOT-USD</u></b>)</li><li><b>Avalanche</b>(<b><u>AVAX-USD</u></b>)</li><li><b>Cosmos</b>(<b><u>ATOM-USD</u></b>)</li><li><b>Chainlink</b>(<b><u>LINK-USD</u></b>)</li><li><b>Algorand</b>(<b>ALGO-USD</b>)</li><li><b>Polygon</b>(<b>MATIC-USD</b>)</li><li><b>Terra</b>(<b>LUNA-USD</b>)</li><li><b>Binance Coin</b>(<b>BNB-USD</b>)</li></ul><p><b>ChatGPT Explains Its “Cryptos to Buy” Methodology</b></p><p>ChatGPT’s recommended list of cryptos to buy is pretty interesting. I asked it to explain its methodology a bit, and was surprised to find that the tool utilizes both qualitative and quantitative data in weighing its opinions.</p><p>Unsurprisingly, the first thing ChatGPT used to make its recommendation was quantitative chart analysis — a favorite methodology used by crypto die-hards far and wide:</p><blockquote>“I selected the top 10 cryptocurrencies with the highest market capitalizations, which are generally considered to be the most established and widely adopted cryptocurrencies in the market. From there, I considered their historical performance, looking at factors such as price trends, trading volume and market share to identify which cryptocurrencies have demonstrated strong growth potential over time.”</blockquote><p>What was more interesting was ChatGPT’s use of qualitative data in weighing its picks. The AI says it analyzes each products’ “underlying technology, use cases, adoption and regulatory environment” in making its selections.</p><p><b>ChatGPT Defends Its Picks for Cryptos to Buy</b></p><p>This holistic approach to crypto analysis ensures the AI makes recommendations based less on price momentum and more on strong fundamentals. However, seeing some interesting inclusions (and one very noticeable exclusion), I felt the need to press it more.</p><p>Why Terra? The project has seen complete and utter failure at the hands of poor management in the last year, and its founder has been on the run from the law ever since the original project imploded and bankrupted several companies. ChatGPT admits it could be a lack of information which prompted the pick; indeed, if the tool had data on the project since its mid-May collapse, it would likely have better judgement than to pick a project many consider flawed and unwanted by the community at-large.</p><p>And, of course, why is there no <b>Bitcoin</b>(<b>BTC-USD</b>)? It’s the largest of cryptos, easily the most recognizable and the one which prompted the crypto movement in the first place. It appears that from both quantitative and qualitative standpoints, ChatGPT remains skeptical of Bitcoin’s future:</p><blockquote>“While [Bitcoin] may continue to grow over time, it may not experience the same level of growth as some of the newer cryptocurrencies that are still in the early stages of development. Additionally, Bitcoin’s use case is primarily as a store of value and a digital currency, whereas some of the other cryptocurrencies that I recommended have more specific use cases and potential for growth in specific industries or markets.”</blockquote><p><b>Who Does ChatGPT Expect to Win the Layer-1 Race?</b></p><p>As for the rest of the list of cryptos to buy, investors might be impressed by ChatGPT’s crypto picking abilities. Lots of the other cryptos recommended are wildly popular projects, and they all have great potential for growth. One thing to note is that seven of the ten are primarily layer-1 dapp networks. Binance hosts a BNB Chain alongside its exchange platform, making for a total of eight.</p><p>With this in mind, I was interested in hearing ChatGPT’s take on the battle between layer-1 networks to compete with and potentially overtake Ethereum. It positions Solana, Polkadot and Avalanche as three of the most likely projects to surpass Ethereum in the coming years.</p><p>Solana, it says, has an edge due to its low cost and high scalability, but notes a downside in its “proof of history” consensus mechanism being nascent and untested as opposed to proof of stake. Meanwhile, the AI praises Polkadot’s interoperability, but acknowledges the project’s governance structure “could lead to potential centralization issues in the future.”</p><p>Regarding Avalanche, the program speaks highly of its own unique consensus. But, it acknowledges the drawback that like Solana, it is unproven, and like Polkadot, it could lead to higher centralization.</p><p>In all, the AI provides some very nuanced takes on each project. I am quite impressed by the depth at which ChatGPT analyzes these investments, and many other investors likely feel the same. However, the drawbacks are quite clear, as it seems to lack the most up-to-date information on each project. In a market where news moves exceptionally fast and projects can soar or tank in minutes, this is a major fault line in the tool.</p><p>For this, the AI is very careful to respond to each question with the ever-popular crypto catchphrase of “do your own research.” For example, it stated, “Conduct your own research and consider all available information, including any potential risks and challenges, before making any investment decisions.” When pressed on whether or not asking the tool these questions <i>was</i> doing my own research, it pointed me to speak with investing professionals before buying any of its recommendations.</p><p><b>What Does ChatGPT See for the Future of Crypto?</b></p><p>Obviously, ChatGPT has a robust set of data on the cryptocurrency world. And, it can pick from this pool of data to give some insightful opinions on individual projects. Before logging off to free up capacity for other curious users, I had to hear the AI’s predictions for the future of crypto.</p><p>The model assumes a fairly positive outlook for the crypto market in 2023. The AI says it analyzes each products’ “underlying technology, use cases, adoption and regulatory environment” in making its selections.ChatGPT Defends Its Picks for Cryptos to BuyThis holistic approach to crypto analysis ensures the AI makes recommendations based less on price momentum and more on strong fundamentals. However, seeing some interesting inclusions (and one very noticeable exclusion), I felt the need to press it more.Why Terra? The project has seen complete and utter failure at the hands of poor management in the last year, and its founder has been on the run from the law ever since the original project imploded and bankrupted several companies. ChatGPT admits it could be a lack of information which prompted the pick; indeed, if the tool had data on the project since its mid-May collapse, it would likely have better judgement than to pick a project many consider flawed and unwanted by the community at-large.And, of course, why is there no Bitcoin(BTC-USD)? It’s the largest of cryptos, easily the most recognizable and the one which prompted the crypto movement in the first place. It appears that from both quantitative and qualitative standpoints, ChatGPT remains skeptical of Bitcoin’s future:“While [Bitcoin] may continue to grow over time, it may not experience the same level of growth as some of the newer cryptocurrencies that are still in the early stages of development. Additionally, Bitcoin’s use case is primarily as a store of value and a digital currency, whereas some of the other cryptocurrencies that I recommended have more specific use cases and potential for growth in specific industries or markets.”Who Does ChatGPT Expect to Win the Layer-1 Race?As for the rest of the list of cryptos to buy, investors might be impressed by ChatGPT’s crypto picking abilities. Lots of the other cryptos recommended are wildly popular projects, and they all have great potential for growth. One thing to note is that seven of the ten are primarily layer-1 dapp networks. Binance hosts a BNB Chain alongside its exchange platform, making for a total of eight.With this in mind, I was interested in hearing ChatGPT’s take on the battle between layer-1 networks to compete with and potentially overtake Ethereum. It positions Solana, Polkadot and Avalanche as three of the most likely projects to surpass Ethereum in the coming years.Solana, it says, has an edge due to its low cost and high scalability, but notes a downside in its “proof of history” consensus mechanism being nascent and untested as opposed to proof of stake. Meanwhile, the AI praises Polkadot’s interoperability, but acknowledges the project’s governance structure “could lead to potential centralization issues in the future.”Regarding Avalanche, the program speaks highly of its own unique consensus. But, it acknowledges the drawback that like Solana, it is unproven, and like Polkadot, it could lead to higher centralization.In all, the AI provides some very nuanced takes on each project. I am quite impressed by the depth at which ChatGPT analyzes these investments, and many other investors likely feel the same. However, the drawbacks are quite clear, as it seems to lack the most up-to-date information on each project. In a market where news moves exceptionally fast and projects can soar or tank in minutes, this is a major fault line in the tool.For this, the AI is very careful to respond to each question with the ever-popular crypto catchphrase of “do your own research.” For example, it stated, “Conduct your own research and consider all available information, including any potential risks and challenges, before making any investment decisions.” When pressed on whether or not asking the tool these questions was doing my own research, it pointed me to speak with investing professionals before buying any of its recommendations.What Does ChatGPT See for the Future of Crypto?Obviously, ChatGPT has a robust set of data on the cryptocurrency world. And, it can pick from this pool of data to give some insightful opinions on individual projects. Peloton&#39;s products were in high demand when economies were in various phases of lockdowns and nonessential businesses, including gyms, were forced to close their doors to the public. That limited the ways folks could exercise, and they turned to Peloton in large numbers.</p><p>The surge in demand was so pronounced that Peloton had difficulty fulfilling orders. At one point, customers had to wait more than ten weeks to receive their exercise equipment. In response, management made investments to increase manufacturing capacity and reduce delivery times.</p><p>Unfortunately for Peloton, several effective vaccines against COVID-19 were developed, economies started reopening, and demand for in-home exercise equipment decreased. Meanwhile, Peloton is stuck with a higher expense base because of its investments to increase capacity. In its most recent quarter ended Sept. 30, Peloton reported a net loss of $367 million compared to a net profit of $69.3 million at the same time last year.</p><p>To make matters worse, Peloton had decreased the price of its bike from $1,895 to $1,495. The move did create increased purchasing from price-sensitive consumers but not enough to offset the considerable price decrease. As a result, revenue in the connected-fitness-products segment (which includes bike sales) fell from $601 million in the third quarter of 2020 to $501 million in Q3 2021. Meanwhile, supply-chain disruptions are raising input and transportation costs; the cost to fulfill sales increased by 21.1% year over year in Q3.</p><p>One potential, near-term bright spot for Peloton is the $1.27 billion of inventory it had on hand ahead of the lucrative holiday shopping season -- up from $937 million in the prior quarter. The quarter ending in December typically is the most lucrative for Peloton, coinciding with not only holiday gift-giving but also new year resolution-induced purchasing. So management is hopeful for strong sales this quarter.</p><h2>Peloton&#39;s stock is a relative bargain</h2><p>Peloton&#39;s stock has undoubtedly faced a steep price decline in 2021 -- and for clear reasons. Customer demand leveled off as economies reopened; meanwhile, management was making investments to increase capacity. All of this has shaken investor confidence. At one point in the last two years, Peloton&#39;s stock was selling at a price-to-sales ratio over 20. Indeed, the stock is down 77% this year. Let's look at what has caused it to fall so hard and whether it's a good value for bargain-shopping investors.Image source: Getty Images.Peloton management overcorrectedThe clearest reason Peloton's stock fell so much is the worldwide economic reopening. Peloton's products were in high demand when economies were in various phases of lockdowns and nonessential businesses, including gyms, were forced to close their doors to the public. That limited the ways folks could exercise, and they turned to Peloton in large numbers.The surge in demand was so pronounced that Peloton had difficulty fulfilling orders. At one point, customers had to wait more than ten weeks to receive their exercise equipment. In response, management made investments to increase manufacturing capacity and reduce delivery times.Unfortunately for Peloton, several effective vaccines against COVID-19 were developed, economies started reopening, and demand for in-home exercise equipment decreased. Meanwhile, Peloton is stuck with a higher expense base because of its investments to increase capacity. In its most recent quarter ended Sept. 30, Peloton reported a net loss of $367 million compared to a net profit of $69.3 million at the same time last year.To make matters worse, Peloton had decreased the price of its bike from $1,895 to $1,495. The move did create increased purchasing from price-sensitive consumers but not enough to offset the considerable price decrease. As a result, revenue in the connected-fitness-products segment (which includes bike sales) fell from $601 million in the third quarter of 2020 to $501 million in Q3 2021. Meanwhile, supply-chain disruptions are raising input and transportation costs; the cost to fulfill sales increased by 21.1% year over year in Q3.One potential, near-term bright spot for Peloton is the $1.27 billion of inventory it had on hand ahead of the lucrative holiday shopping season -- up from $937 million in the prior quarter. The quarter ending in December typically is the most lucrative for Peloton, coinciding with not only holiday gift-giving but also new year resolution-induced purchasing. So management is hopeful for strong sales this quarter.Peloton's stock is a relative bargainPeloton's stock has undoubtedly faced a steep price decline in 2021 -- and for clear reasons. Customer demand leveled off as economies reopened; meanwhile, management was making investments to increase capacity. All of this has shaken investor confidence. At one point in the last two years, Peloton's stock was selling at a price-to-sales ratio over 20. However, it’s dropped by more than 50% since reaching ahigh in May.\nCoinbase is one of the largest crypto exchanges on the planet, and its Pro service, as the name suggests, is designed for professional traders. Dogecoin is also available for purchase on Robinhood’s app and through Gemini.\nCoinbase said in ablog postthat it will “immediately” begin accepting inbound transfers to Coinbase Pro. If there is enough liquidity, trading of dogecoin will begin on or after 9 a.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, in supported locations. Some of its offerings include personal loans, wedding loans, credit card consolidation, and car loans. The annual percentage rate (interest) for an Upstart loan is in the 8.27% to 35.99% range, depending on the product.</p>\n<p>Total non-housing consumer debt in the U.S. stood at more than $4.1 trillion in Q1, including about $745 billion in ''revolving credit'' (credit cards and other loans consumers can pay down, reuse, and carry balances on). Upstart has a substantial market opportunity that it has only just begun to tap.</p>\n<p>Potential borrowers can submit a loan application through a bank that uses Upstart's application programming interface (API). Behind the scenes, the company's artificial intelligence is assessing the proposed loan, looking at more than 1,000 data points to provide a decision instantly (in most cases).</p>\n<p>Upstart's algorithm has the ability to assess a borrower based on nontraditional metrics. For example, it accounts for a borrower's education and where they went to school, in addition to their job history, rather than just on income and assets. The company claims its decision process can reduce default rates by 75%. In fact, it boasts 173% <i>more</i> approvals for the same overall loan loss rate.</p>\n<h2>Priced for perfection</h2>\n<p>Banks are usually valued methodically, using metrics like tangible book value and earnings per share. Investors have decades' worth of historical earnings and valuations to work with when assessing financial institutions. The company beat that total in this year's first quarter, with a net income of $10.1 million, so you can see how fast it's growing. However, it will likely need to earn significantly more for its current valuation to remain at these lofty levels.</p>\n<p>The company expects to earn $500 million in revenue in 2021 -- which would represent 114% in yearly revenue growth -- and based on the Q1 result, this could translate to over $40 million in net income.</p>\n<p>For the company to keep up this pace, it will most likely need new catalysts, and it likely has them.&nbsp;Upstart is now offering its platform technology to auto financiers, to capture a piece of the single largest lending segment after housing. Total auto loans in the U.S. grew to $1.37 trillion in 2020, and car shortages have led to higher prices and pent up demand across the board.</p>\n<p>The company has trailing 12-month revenue of $290 million, so the stock currently trades at a revenue multiple of roughly 38 times. That's higher than <b>Tesla</b>'s! With the growth opportunities Upstart is expecting, the company has the opportunity to grow its way into a less intimidating multiple over the next few years.&nbsp;But if you're buying it today, Upstart <i>must</i> deliver.</p>\n<h2>Looking forward</h2>\n<p>Upstart is showing promising growth in originations, with $1.73 billion in Q1, up 102% year over year on 169,750 total loans. This is <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> of the best metrics to measure the company's performance, as it translates directly to revenue. Since the company's algorithm instantly and automatically approved 71% of those loans, the scalability of this business is potentially enormous.</p>\n<p>If the company continues to deliver growth in net income, its stock will likely remain buoyant -- although the risk to the valuation <i>might </i>be to the downside, depending how fast that growth is. The question for investors is whether there is enough upside potential from here to warrant that risk. Upstart is guiding for a similar amount of net income in the second quarter as it delivered in Q1, putting the company on track to generate less than $50 million this year. However, it will likely need to earn significantly more for its current valuation to remain at these lofty levels.\nThe company expects to earn $500 million in revenue in 2021 -- which would represent 114% in yearly revenue growth -- and based on the Q1 result, this could translate to over $40 million in net income.\nFor the company to keep up this pace, it will most likely need new catalysts, and it likely has them. Upstart is now offering its platform technology to auto financiers, to capture a piece of the single largest lending segment after housing. Total auto loans in the U.S. grew to $1.37 trillion in 2020, and car shortages have led to higher prices and pent up demand across the board.\nThe company has trailing 12-month revenue of $290 million, so the stock currently trades at a revenue multiple of roughly 38 times. That's higher than Tesla's! With the growth opportunities Upstart is expecting, the company has the opportunity to grow its way into a less intimidating multiple over the next few years. But if you're buying it today, Upstart must deliver.\nLooking forward\nUpstart is showing promising growth in originations, with $1.73 billion in Q1, up 102% year over year on 169,750 total loans. This is one of the best metrics to measure the company's performance, as it translates directly to revenue. Since the company's algorithm instantly and automatically approved 71% of those loans, the scalability of this business is potentially enormous.\nIf the company continues to deliver growth in net income, its stock will likely remain buoyant -- although the risk to the valuation might be to the downside, depending how fast that growth is. The question for investors is whether there is enough upside potential from here to warrant that risk. Upstart is guiding for a similar amount of net income in the second quarter as it delivered in Q1, putting the company on track to generate less than $50 million this year.
