The double-digit percentage decline the S&P 500 experienced in January marks the 39th correction of at least 10% for the widely followed index since the beginning of 1950.But where there are crashes and corrections, there's also opportunity. That's because every sizable decline in the S&P 500 has eventually been put in the rearview mirror by a bull market rally. If the broader market were to continue to plunge, the following four companies would be some of the smartest stocks to buy.Image source: Getty Images.Berkshire HathawayIn a world where growth stocks have dominated, perhaps no company has more consistently outperformed the broader market for decades than Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A)(NYSE:BRK.B).Berkshire might not be a household name, but its CEO, billionaire Warren Buffett, certainly is. Since taking the reins in 1965, Buffett has led his company's Class A shares (BRK.A) to an average annual gain of better than 20%. In aggregate, we're talking about a total gain of around 3,800,000% in 57 years. One of the key reasons the Oracle of Omaha is such a successful investor is due to his company's focus on cyclical businesses. Cyclical companies thrive when the economy is running on all cylinders and struggle when recessions arise. Buffett fully understands that recessions typically last for a few months to a couple of quarters. Comparatively, periods of expansion usually last for years, if not a decade. Warren Buffett is allowing time to be his ally and playing a simple numbers game that works in favor of ultra-long-term investors. The other not-so-subtle secret to Berkshire Hathaway's outperformance is dividend income. This year, Buffett's company is on pace to collect over $5 billion in payouts, which works out to a yield relative to cost of around 5%. Dividend stocks are almost always profitable and time-tested. This means Buffett and his team have packed Berkshire's portfolio with successful businesses that can navigate whatever the U.S. economy and stock market throw their way.Image source: Getty Images.Walgreens Boots AllianceHealthcare stocks are usually a wise place to put your money to work if the market plunges. That's why pharmacy chain and value stock Walgreens Boots Alliance (NASDAQ:WBA) would be such a smart buy.No matter how well or poorly the U.S. economy performs, or how high the year-over-year inflation figure rises, people don't get to choose when they get sick or what ailment(s) they develop. This means demand for prescription drugs, medical devices, and healthcare services tends to remain steady in any economic environment. What specifically makes Walgreens so intriguing is the company's multipoint growth strategy targeting higher margins and a faster organic growth rate. To lift margins, the company has reduced its annual operating expenses by more than $2 billion a full fiscal year ahead of schedule.Meanwhile, to boost the company's organic growth rate, Walgreens is spending aggressively on two key initiatives. First, it's actively promoting direct-to-consumer sales. Even though the company's brick-and-mortar locations will account for the lion's share of revenue, online sales are an easy way to boost organic growth as consumers shift their buying habits.Second, Walgreens has partnered with, and invested in, VillageMD to open upwards of 600 co-located, full-service clinics by 2025 in over 30 U.S. markets. These physician-staffed clinics can be used to funnel repeat clients to the company's higher-margin pharmacy.Image source: Getty Images.Palo Alto NetworksAnother exceptionally smart stock to buy if the market plunges is cybersecurity powerhouse and growth stock Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ:PANW).If you're noticing a theme with this list, it's that highly defensive sectors and industries are a smart place to put your money to work when corrections arise. Cybersecurity is a sustained double-digit growth trend which has become a basic necessity for businesses of all sizes that have an online or cloud-based presence. Hackers and robots simply don't care if Wall Street has a rough day. There are two key reasons Palo Alto makes for such an impressive growth story. To begin with, it's undergoing a business transformation that's emphasizing subscription services. Even though the company continues to sell physical firewall products, subscription services provide better long-term margins and less revenue lumpiness. Over time, a larger percentage of total sales will derive from these higher-margin channels.Palo Alto's other major growth driver is its many bolt-on acquisitions. Management hasn't been afraid to deploy capital in order to expand its product portfolio or broaden its pool of potential customers. These acquisitions have been pivotal in helping Palo Alto reach new small and medium-sized businesses.Image source: Getty Images.Bank of AmericaA fourth and final company that would be one of the smartest stocks to buy if the market plunges is money-center giant Bank of America (NYSE:BAC).Bank stocks like BofA are highly cyclical. Even though they can occasionally get caught up in the short-term emotions that weigh down stocks, they benefit immensely from the natural expansion of the U.S. and global economy over time. This allows patient investors in large bank stocks to build their wealth steadily over time. Not surprisingly, Bank of America is Warren Buffett's second-largest holding. What makes Bank of America such a perfect buy at the moment (and if the market continues to fall) is the upcoming shift in the Federal Reserve's monetary policy. With U.S. inflation hitting a 40-year high in January, the nation's central bank has no choice but to aggressively begin raising interest rates. No bank stock is more interest-sensitive than BofA. In its year-end report, the company noted that a 100-basis-point parallel shift in the interest rate yield curve would add an estimated $6.5 billion in net interest income. In other words, the more inflation becomes an issue, the likelier BofA is to see a big boost to its bottom line. Also, as I've previously pointed out, Bank of America's digital push is really paying dividends. Over the past three years, it's added 5 million new digital active customers and seen the aggregate number of loan sales completed online or via app jump from 31% to 49%. It's far more cost-effective when customers transact digitally than in person or by phone. As consumers make this digital shift, BofA has consolidated some of its branches and lowered its expenses.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BRK.B":1,"BAC":1,"WBA":1,"BRK.A":1,"PANW":1,".SPX":0.74}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":573,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":863412244,"gmtCreate":1632411584488,"gmtModify":1676530777281,"author":{"id":"3585312804980408","authorId":"3585312804980408","name":"LaiSB","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02ab60e191d391b446c88630f4f1e822","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3585312804980408","idStr":"3585312804980408"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow, up till $1000?","listText":"Wow, up till $1000?","text":"Wow, up till $1000?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/863412244","repostId":"2169664162","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":353,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":899882171,"gmtCreate":1628173668193,"gmtModify":1703502595712,"author":{"id":"3585312804980408","authorId":"3585312804980408","name":"LaiSB","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02ab60e191d391b446c88630f4f1e822","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3585312804980408","idStr":"3585312804980408"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"AND go go go","listText":"AND go go go","text":"AND go go go","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":13,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/899882171","repostId":"2157431025","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":484,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":183765835,"gmtCreate":1623361285427,"gmtModify":1704201528701,"author":{"id":"3585312804980408","authorId":"3585312804980408","name":"LaiSB","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02ab60e191d391b446c88630f4f1e822","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3585312804980408","idStr":"3585312804980408"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Go go go, ALIBABA","listText":"Go go go, ALIBABA","text":"Go go go, ALIBABA","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/183765835","repostId":"1107871315","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":675,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":813830276,"gmtCreate":1630165129495,"gmtModify":1676530237155,"author":{"id":"3585312804980408","authorId":"3585312804980408","name":"LaiSB","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02ab60e191d391b446c88630f4f1e822","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3585312804980408","idStr":"3585312804980408"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Come on AAPL","listText":"Come on AAPL","text":"Come on AAPL","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/813830276","repostId":"1162964424","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1162964424","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1630111098,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1162964424?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-08-28 08:38","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Apple Stock: How It Could Be A Great Inflation Play","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1162964424","media":"TheStreet","summary":"Apple’s iPhone 13 could cost consumers more due to an increase in the price of certain components. This is bad news for users, but probably good news for Apple stock investors.
\n
IPhone users thinking of upgrading their devices this year (or those looking to switch to the iOS-based product) should expect to reach deeper into their pockets. DigiTimes has reported that Apple’s iPhone 13 could be launched next month at a higher price due to parts inflation.
\n
Bad news for consumers could be great news for Apple stock investors. If the price increase is confirmed, it provides evidence that AAPL might be a great inflation play during these times of worry over rising producer and consumer prices.
\n
Figure 1: Apple's iPhone 12 Pro.
\n
What happened?
\n
The iPhone is already considered a pricey tech gadget that can cost as much as $1,400 for the fully loaded, higher-end 12 Pro Max model in the US (see figure below). Due to this year’s components shortage, chip maker TSMC may raise its part prices to Apple by 3% to 5%, which could lead to a similar increase in the price of the yet-to-be-announced iPhone 13.
\n
It is unlikely that one of the largest and most successful consumer product companies in the world would try to raise prices without confidence that doing so does not impact demand for the new iPhone substantially. Apple can probably afford to hike prices because the company understands the value and the appeal of its luxury brand.
\n
Figure 2: iPhone 12 Pro on Apple's store.
\n
A quote from Jim Cramer
\n
One of the most concerning headwinds to stocks in the foreseeable future is the possibility of inflation eroding corporate margins and leading to higher interest rates in 2021-2022. But should producer and consumer prices spike, not all stocks will be impacted equally.
\n
Generally speaking, companies with strong pricing power that are able to pass on the higher production costs to consumers will likely outperform. This is a point that Mad Money’s Jim Cramer has made recently. Here is his quote:
\n
\n “When you try to think of what’s working in this market... I want you to ask yourself, would you be insensitive to a price increase if the company put one through? [What are] the companies that can raise prices without infuriating you? Go buy their stocks.”\n
\n
The impact to the P&L
\n
Are higher prices a good or a bad thing for a company’s financial performance? The answer is nuanced and depends on a few factors.
\n
Holding all else constant, higher prices also mean higher revenues (think of the formula for sales: price times quantity). If the increase in price is decoupled from an increase in product or operating costs, then the hike also helps to boost margins – thus profits as well.
\n
However, “holding all else constant” is not how the world really works. A change in price tends to have an impact on a few key variables, most important of which is demand. This is bad news for users, but probably good news for Apple stock investors.\nIPhone users thinking of upgrading their devices this year (or those looking to switch to the iOS-based product) should expect to reach deeper into their pockets. DigiTimes has reported that Apple’s iPhone 13 could be launched next month at a higher price due to parts inflation.\nBad news for consumers could be great news for Apple stock investors. If the price increase is confirmed, it provides evidence that AAPL might be a great inflation play during these times of worry over rising producer and consumer prices.\nFigure 1: Apple's iPhone 12 Pro.\nWhat happened?\nThe iPhone is already considered a pricey tech gadget that can cost as much as $1,400 for the fully loaded, higher-end 12 Pro Max model in the US (see figure below). Due to this year’s components shortage, chip maker TSMC may raise its part prices to Apple by 3% to 5%, which could lead to a similar increase in the price of the yet-to-be-announced iPhone 13.\nIt is unlikely that one of the largest and most successful consumer product companies in the world would try to raise prices without confidence that doing so does not impact demand for the new iPhone substantially. Apple can probably afford to hike prices because the company understands the value and the appeal of its luxury brand.\nFigure 2: iPhone 12 Pro on Apple's store.\nA quote from Jim Cramer\nOne of the most concerning headwinds to stocks in the foreseeable future is the possibility of inflation eroding corporate margins and leading to higher interest rates in 2021-2022. But should producer and consumer prices spike, not all stocks will be impacted equally.\nGenerally speaking, companies with strong pricing power that are able to pass on the higher production costs to consumers will likely outperform. This is a point that Mad Money’s Jim Cramer has made recently. Here is his quote:\n\n “When you try to think of what’s working in this market... I want you to ask yourself, would you be insensitive to a price increase if the company put one through? [What are] the companies that can raise prices without infuriating you? Go buy their stocks.”\n\nThe impact to the P&L\nAre higher prices a good or a bad thing for a company’s financial performance? The answer is nuanced and depends on a few factors.\nHolding all else constant, higher prices also mean higher revenues (think of the formula for sales: price times quantity). If the increase in price is decoupled from an increase in product or operating costs, then the hike also helps to boost margins – thus profits as well.\nHowever, “holding all else constant” is not how the world really works. A change in price tends to have an impact on a few key variables, most important of which is demand. If higher prices do not impact units sold by much or at all, this is great news for revenues and, most likely, earnings.\nThe other piece to consider is whether the price hike fully or only partially offsets higher costs. Assuming the latter, revenues can still benefit without a corresponding positive effect on margins and profits. The complexity presented by the many moving parts makes it hard to determine with certainty how a more expensive iPhone may impact Apple’s financial statements in the future.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AAPL":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":593,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":838823383,"gmtCreate":1629386001342,"gmtModify":1676530025663,"author":{"id":"3585312804980408","authorId":"3585312804980408","name":"LaiSB","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02ab60e191d391b446c88630f4f1e822","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3585312804980408","idStr":"3585312804980408"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Omg","listText":"Omg","text":"Omg","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":11,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/838823383","repostId":"2160601987","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":496,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":882712545,"gmtCreate":1631720396387,"gmtModify":1676530618730,"author":{"id":"3585312804980408","authorId":"3585312804980408","name":"LaiSB","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02ab60e191d391b446c88630f4f1e822","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3585312804980408","idStr":"3585312804980408"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$500 target?","listText":"$500 target?","text":"$500 target?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/882712545","repostId":"1121883775","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":491,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":188779664,"gmtCreate":1623463724358,"gmtModify":1704204305636,"author":{"id":"3585312804980408","authorId":"3585312804980408","name":"LaiSB","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02ab60e191d391b446c88630f4f1e822","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3585312804980408","idStr":"3585312804980408"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Come on, AAPL","listText":"Come on, AAPL","text":"Come on, AAPL","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/188779664","repostId":"1131421513","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":666,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3586223575744434","authorId":"3586223575744434","name":"LimYH","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"authorIdStr":"3586223575744434","idStr":"3586223575744434"},"content":"Soon Will up","text":"Soon Will up","html":"Soon Will up"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9099563029,"gmtCreate":1643384320069,"gmtModify":1676533814755,"author":{"id":"3585312804980408","authorId":"3585312804980408","name":"LaiSB","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02ab60e191d391b446c88630f4f1e822","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3585312804980408","idStr":"3585312804980408"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"What happen to WDC?","listText":"What happen to WDC?","text":"What happen to WDC?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9099563029","repostId":"1161053184","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1161053184","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1643381309,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1161053184?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-28 22:48","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Western Digital Tumbled Over 6% in Morning Trading and Reached One-year Low","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1161053184","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Western Digital tumbled over 6% in morning trading and reached one-year low. However, we all have our favorite stocks. We asked some of our Fool.com contributors to whittle their favorites down to their top choice to buy in 2022 if they could only pick one. Here's why 3M (NYSE:MMM), Brookfield Asset Management (NYSE:BAM), and Brookfield Renewable (NYSE:BEP)(NYSE:BEPC) topped their lists as the one stock they'd buy this year. Image source: Getty Images.A diversified giant that's still on saleReuben Gregg Brewer (3M): Benjamin Graham, renowned value investor and mentor to Warren Buffet, explains that investors are partnered with \"Mr. Market,\" a mercurial fellow prone to fits of despair and jubilation. When he's overly excited, you should consider selling to him; when he's pessimistic, you should think about buying. Right now, Mr. Market is very downbeat on diversified international industrial giant 3M. One way to see this is that the company's dividend yield, at around 3.3%, is near the top end of its historical range.MMM Dividend Yield data by YChartsGraham had some other advice when it came to actually selecting stocks. Specifically, he argued that most investors would be wise sticking to large, financially strong companies, with strong dividend histories. 3M stacks up well on these measures. It has a market cap of $100 billion, which makes it a mega-cap stock. Its balance sheet is investment-grade rated by the major credit agencies, so it's financially strong. And it has increased its dividend annually for over 60 years, making it a very elite Dividend King.So why is Mr. Market pessimistic? The answer is a mixture of slowing growth and some product and environmental lawsuits. These are notable problems, but they're not insurmountable. On the business front, the industrial giant's operations wax and wane over time just like any other company. Given its history and focus on innovation, it should eventually get back on a better track. As for the lawsuits, they could be costly, but it's likely that 3M will be able to handle the hit. In the end, this is an attractively priced name with a great history that is dealing with issues that seem transitory.A proven value creatorMatt DiLallo (Brookfield Asset Management): I like to invest. Because of that, I routinely purchase a variety of stocks. However, if I could only buy one in the coming year, Brookfield Asset Management would be my top choice. For starters, I love the company's management. CEO Bruce Flatt is a personal favorite of mine. He's right up there with Warren Buffett in my book as one of the best value investors around. I enjoy reading his quarterly letter to shareholders, which Flatt fills with investing and economic insight. He's also a proven value creator. Since becoming CEO in 2002, he's helped Brookfield deliver a 15.7% total annualized return, pulverizing the S&P 500's 10.6% total return during that time frame. I also like the company's business model. Brookfield is a leading global alternative asset manager focused on real estate, infrastructure, and renewable energy -- three of my favorite investing themes. An investment in Brookfield provides broad exposure to those three asset classes and many more. Brookfield invests directly across those themes and manages private equity funds focused on those sectors. Finally, Brookfield has enormous upside potential. It expects to double its fee-bearing assets under management over the next five years. Combine that with performance-based earnings on its funds and the compounding value of its balance sheet investments, and it has the potential of generating up to 25% annualized total returns over the next five years. That upside, along with all the other positives, is why I'd buy Brookfield if it were the only stock I could purchase this year. Investors are overlooking the growth potential hereNeha Chamaria (Brookfield Renewable): 2021 is turning out to be a record-setting year for global renewable electricity addition, but this could just be the beginning. Yet shares of one of the largest pure-play renewables companies that's growing at a steady pace have languished this year, which is why Brookfield Renewable would be at the top of my shopping list of stocks to buy in 2022.Brookfield Renewable, in fact, generated record funds from operations (FFO) in its third quarter and believes it could grow FFO by nearly 20% per year through 2026 through a combination of organic and inorganic growth. 2021 was also a solid year in terms of growth initiatives, with Brookfield Renewable expanding its U.S. distributed-generation business by nearly five times, signing agreements to acquire multiple late-stage solar development projects in the U.S. and even making meaningful headway in the high-potential green hydrogen space.Brookfield Renewable's current development pipeline is larger than ever, and the company is committed to growing dividends annually by 5% to 9%. That shouldn't be tough given the solid pace of growth in its FFO. That dividend growth, its dividend yield of 3.4%, and the humongous growth potential in renewable energy are the biggest reasons why I consider Brookfield Renewable a top stock for 2022.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BEP":1,"BAM":1,"MMM":1,"BEPC":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":868,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":176531866,"gmtCreate":1626906194255,"gmtModify":1703480155873,"author":{"id":"3585312804980408","authorId":"3585312804980408","name":"LaiSB","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02ab60e191d391b446c88630f4f1e822","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3585312804980408","idStr":"3585312804980408"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Up up up","listText":"Up up up","text":"Up up up","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/176531866","repostId":"1156292040","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1156292040","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1626880084,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1156292040?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-21 23:08","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Airline stocks, Cruise Stocks rally continues in morning trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1156292040","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"(July 21) Airline stocks, Cruise Stocks rally continues in morning trading.\nShares of Carnival rose","content":"
(July 21) Airline stocks, Cruise Stocks rally continues in morning trading.
\n
Shares of Carnival rose over 3% in premarket trading, after the company said it plans to resume guest cruise operations across eight of its cruise line brands by the end of 2021. Its technology was reportedly used to hunt down Osama bin Laden in 2011, but it was also used by ICE in recent years to locate and deport undocumented immigrants.
\n
C3.ai initially only served energy companies before expanding into other markets. Unlike Palantir, which gathers data from external and internal sources, C3.ai mainly uses a company's internal operations.
\n
C3.ai's algorithms can schedule maintenance routines, detect fraud, optimize inventories, and improve CRM (customer relationship management) systems. In short, it's a lot less controversial bet than Palantir.
\n
How fast is Palantir growing?
\n
Palantir's revenue increased 47% to $1.1 billion in 2020. Its government revenue rose 77% as its commercial revenue grew 22%.
\n
It expanded its government contracts with the FDA, U.S. Army, and U.S. Air Force, and its commercial business attracted big customers including Rio Tinto,PG&E, and BP. Its adjusted gross and operating margins expanded, but it still posted a net loss of $1.2 billion -- compared to a loss of $580 million in 2019.
\n
In the first quarter of 2021, Palantir's revenue rose 49% year-over-year to $341 million, with 76% growth in its government business and 19% growth in its commercial business. Its adjusted gross and operating margins expanded again, but its net loss again widened, from $54.3 million to $123.5 million. On the bright side, its adjusted EBITDA turned positive with a profit of $119.8 million -- but that excludes its stock-based compensation and a lot of \"one time\" expenses.
\n
Wall Street expects Palantir's revenue to rise 35% this year, while the company expects its annual revenue to increase more than 30% every year through 2025. That confident outlook indicates a belief that its government business will remain stable as it gradually gains more commercial customers, but the company could remain steeped in controversy about data-gathering and deeply unprofitable for years to come.
\n
How fast is C3.ai growing?
\n
C3.ai's revenue rose 17% to $183.2 million in fiscal 2021, which ended in April. That marked a significant slowdown from its 71% growth in 2020, mainly due to pandemic-related disruptions of the energy and industrial sectors.
\n
Its average contract value also decreased from $12.1 million in 2020 to $7.2 million in 2021, even as it initiated new enterprise AI projects with big customers like 3M,Consolidated Edison,Shell, and the New York Power Authority. But its total number of customers rose 82% to 89 at the end of the year, which indicates its business could recover quickly after the pandemic ends. It expects its revenue to increase 33% to 35% in the current fiscal year.
\n
C3.ai's adjusted gross margin stayed flat in fiscal 2021 as its operating margin remained in the red, but its net loss narrowed year-over-year from $69.4 million to $55.7 million. It doesn't calculate its profits in adjusted EBITDA terms, and analysts expect it to stay unprofitable for the foreseeable future.
\n
The valuations and verdict
\n
Palantir and C3.ai trade at 31 and 26 times this year's sales, respectively. Those high price-to-sales ratios indicate neither stock is cheap in this market, especially as investors rotate from growth to value stocks.
\n
That said, it makes more sense to invest in the company that is more dependent on stable government customers than the one that relies heavily on the macro-sensitive energy and industrial sectors. It also makes more sense to invest in the company with superior revenue growth if both stocks are trading at comparable price-to-sales ratios.
\n
Therefore, Palantir might be more controversial than C3.ai, but I believe it's the better growth play in the AI market. C3.ai's long-term prospects still look bright, but its stock remains too expensive relative to its growth.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Palantir vs. C3.ai: Which Is the Better Artificial Intelligence Stock?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nPalantir vs. C3.ai: Which Is the Better Artificial Intelligence Stock?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-14 09:55 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Palantir (NYSE:PLTR) and C3.ai (NYSE:AI) both help organizations and companies crunch data with AI-powered tools.\nPalantir, which generates more than half its revenue from government contracts, wants ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"PLTR":"Palantir Technologies Inc.","AI":"C3.ai, Inc."},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/06/13/palantir-vs-c3ai-which-is-the-better-artificial-in/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1180874867","content_text":"Palantir (NYSE:PLTR) and C3.ai (NYSE:AI) both help organizations and companies crunch data with AI-powered tools.\nPalantir, which generates more than half its revenue from government contracts, wants its Gotham platform to become the \"default operating system for data\" across the U.S. government. Its adjusted gross and operating margins expanded again, but its net loss again widened, from $54.3 million to $123.5 million. On the bright side, its adjusted EBITDA turned positive with a profit of $119.8 million -- but that excludes its stock-based compensation and a lot of \"one time\" expenses.\nWall Street expects Palantir's revenue to rise 35% this year, while the company expects its annual revenue to increase more than 30% every year through 2025. That confident outlook indicates a belief that its government business will remain stable as it gradually gains more commercial customers, but the company could remain steeped in controversy about data-gathering and deeply unprofitable for years to come.\nHow fast is C3.ai growing?\nC3.ai's revenue rose 17% to $183.2 million in fiscal 2021, which ended in April. That marked a significant slowdown from its 71% growth in 2020, mainly due to pandemic-related disruptions of the energy and industrial sectors.\nIts average contract value also decreased from $12.1 million in 2020 to $7.2 million in 2021, even as it initiated new enterprise AI projects with big customers like 3M,Consolidated Edison,Shell, and the New York Power Authority. But its total number of customers rose 82% to 89 at the end of the year, which indicates its business could recover quickly after the pandemic ends. It expects its revenue to increase 33% to 35% in the current fiscal year.\nC3.ai's adjusted gross margin stayed flat in fiscal 2021 as its operating margin remained in the red, but its net loss narrowed year-over-year from $69.4 million to $55.7 million. It doesn't calculate its profits in adjusted EBITDA terms, and analysts expect it to stay unprofitable for the foreseeable future.\nThe valuations and verdict\nPalantir and C3.ai trade at 31 and 26 times this year's sales, respectively. Those high price-to-sales ratios indicate neither stock is cheap in this market, especially as investors rotate from growth to value stocks.\nThat said, it makes more sense to invest in the company that is more dependent on stable government customers than the one that relies heavily on the macro-sensitive energy and industrial sectors. It also makes more sense to invest in the company with superior revenue growth if both stocks are trading at comparable price-to-sales ratios.\nTherefore, Palantir might be more controversial than C3.ai, but I believe it's the better growth play in the AI market. C3.ai's long-term prospects still look bright, but its stock remains too expensive relative to its growth.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"PLTR":0.9,"AI":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":535,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":182807775,"gmtCreate":1623560883497,"gmtModify":1704206223395,"author":{"id":"3585312804980408","authorId":"3585312804980408","name":"LaiSB","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02ab60e191d391b446c88630f4f1e822","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3585312804980408","idStr":"3585312804980408"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Go go go, Amazon","listText":"Go go go, Amazon","text":"Go go go, Amazon","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/182807775","repostId":"1191179846","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":759,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":112440682,"gmtCreate":1622907753146,"gmtModify":1704193194678,"author":{"id":"3585312804980408","authorId":"3585312804980408","name":"LaiSB","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02ab60e191d391b446c88630f4f1e822","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3585312804980408","idStr":"3585312804980408"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Should.Please like and comment","listText":"Should. Please like and comment","text":"Should. Please like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/112440682","repostId":"1158897173","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1158897173","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1622813283,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1158897173?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-04 21:28","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Should You Buy Apple Stock Before WWDC?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1158897173","media":"TheStreet","summary":"On June 7, Apple will host its annual WWDC event – as a virtual conference, just like 2020.
