Are they right?","content":"

After joining the $1 trillion market capitalization club at the end of 2021, shares of electric vehicle (EV) juggernaut Tesla have shifted into reverse. Between macroeconomic headwinds like 40-year-high inflation, the Fed's consequent move to raise interest rates, and concerns about the war between Russia and Ukraine, the stock market has been in quite the frenzy.

Many high-growth stocks, Tesla included, have been humbled lately as investors seek protection by shifting their attention to value companies and safer assets. CEO Elon Musk's move to potentially acquire Twitter certainly hasn't aided the company's case, either. The company's $18.8 billion in total sales, which climbed 81% year over year, beat Wall Street expectations by $918 million. Likewise, its non-GAAP earnings per share of $3.22, equal to 246% growth, crushed consensus estimates by a whopping 42%.

To top off a record quarter, the Musk-led enterprise grew total production and vehicle deliveries by a respective 69% and 68%, producing 305,407 vehicles and delivering 310,048. Per management's guidance, investors can expect the company to achieve 50% average annual growth in deliveries over a multi-year time horizon. Shareholders should feel happy, but they should keep asking themselves what comes next.

Shares closed higher 2.3% at $201.29 on Wednesday. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.1% and 1.7%, respectively. Tesla stock (ticker: TSLA) is now up 63% year to date, and up 98% from its Jan. 6 52-week intraday low of $101.81.

It's been quite a run. The last time Tesla stock closed above $200 was Nov. 4. The last time shares touched $200 was Nov. 15. Still, the stock looks like it's due for a pause.

"Tesla is into resistance at the $200 level, former support, from where it broke down in early November," says John Roque, senior managing director at 22V Research and market technician. "Former support often becomes new resistance."

Roque isn't a fundamental analyst. His is looking at stock charts to figure out investor sentiment and what could happen next. He is also the technical analyst who thought Tesla stock would approach $100, which they did in early January.

"The preceding crash and current spike have been as symmetrical as possible over a two-month time frame," says CappThesis founder and market technician Frank Cappelleri. "The downturn got the stock overly depressed, and the subsequent four-week rally also appears overextended short term."

He also believes Tesla stock is due for a pause, calling shares overbought. That's a term technicians uses to describe a situation when stocks rise a lot over a short period of time. At certain levels, it can mean all the buying is done, for a while.

A pause for a technician can last anywhere from two weeks to two months. Typically something new has to happen to shake the stock out of a trading band.

One thing that could do that is the company's coming investor event on March 1. Management should be talking about new platforms, plants and the coming Cybertruck there.

Maybe Tesla stock should pause, but it doesn't obey all the rules. Shares are still about $24, or 10%, below the level where Tesla CEO Elon Musk bought Twitter. Late in 2022 he said he would find a new leader for his social media network. If he does, it could give Tesla shares a boost.

Tesla investors have been worried that Musk hasn't been able to fully focus on Tesla because of Twitter. Investors have also worried that Musk would sell Tesla stock to fund losses at Twitter. Musk tweeted on Feb. 5 that Twitter was approaching break-even. That reduces the likelihood of future Tesla stock sales. Tesla stock is up about 6% since then. The Nasdaq Composite is down about 2% over the same span.

The $225 level is also very close to the stock's 200-day moving average. That would be another level of resistance for investors to consider what comes next.

Barron's wrote positively about Tesla stock on Jan. 6. Since that article appeared, shares are up about 78%.

We also recently suggested taking some profits. We still feel that it's appropriate to lock in some gains. Tesla is a volatile stock, and banking some profits after run-ups can help investors weather the inevitable ups and downs of investing alongside Musk.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Tesla Stock Tops $200.

The company is manifesting the "cash is king" mantra as well: In the first quarter, free cash flow surged an astonishing 660% to $2.2 billion. Provided that the global EV market is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25% through 2028 to nearly $1 trillion, it could be said with exceedingly high confidence that Tesla is poised for more success in the coming years.

Tesla's valuation is still high

Even without context, though, Tesla's valuation is extremely high. Take advantage of the recent tech sell-off and look for other companies that carry more enticing valuations today.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":152,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9014557621,"gmtCreate":1649687192536,"gmtModify":1676534551250,"author":{"id":"3585371340748391","authorId":"3585371340748391","name":"Bibibabablehbleh","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/35cecf2aefaac1d75d2c53007d399e19","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585371340748391","authorIdStr":"3585371340748391"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9014557621","repostId":"2226683093","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2226683093","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1649691304,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2226683093?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-04-11 23:35","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 of the Smartest Stocks to Buy in a Fed-Induced Bear Market","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2226683093","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"A tumbling stock market is the ideal time to put your money to work in these rock-solid companies.","content":"

A little over a year ago, things couldn't have been better for Wall Street. A combination of historically low lending rates and ongoing quantitative easing measures designed to drive down long-term bond yields has played a big role in sending the U.S. inflation rate to a four-decade high. In fact, a good argument can be made that the growth-focused Nasdaq Composite's brief tumble into bear market territory was primarily Fed-induced.

Although big drops in the market can be scary at times -- especially when they're caused by the Fed shifting course -- they're historically the best time to put your money to work. That's because all notable declines are eventually erased by a bull market rally.

Below are three of the smartest stocks investors can buy in a Fed-driven bear market.

Berkshire Hathaway

The first stock investors would be wise to buy in a Fed-induced bear market is conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway ( BRK.A )( BRK.B).

Berkshire may not be a household name, but its CEO, billionaire Warren Buffett, probably is. Since taking over as CEO of the company in 1965, Buffett has overseen more than $760 billion in valuation creation for shareholders (himself included), and he's led Berkshire's Class A shares (BRK.A) to an average annual gain of just over 20%. In aggregate, we're talking about an increase of 4,210,069%, as of April 7.

One of Buffett's not-so-subtle secrets to success is that he's packed Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio with cyclical companies. These are businesses that thrive when the economy is firing on all cylinders and struggle a bit when recessions strike. Instead of trying to time these inevitable downturns, Buffett has positioned Berkshire Hathaway and its investment portfolio to take advantage of long-winded expansions. After all, economic expansions last considerably longer than recessions.

Something else to consider is that a sizable percentage of Berkshire Hathaway's owned and invested assets are in the financial sector. The Fed has made clear that it intends to reduce its balance sheet (i.e., sell Treasury bonds) and raise interest rates. Higher lending rates will be a boon for bank stocks that have variable-rate outstanding loans, and it'll also allow insurance companies to generate more interest income on their float (i.e., their unused premium). In short, Berkshire Hathaway is well-positioned to navigate a rising-rate environment.

Berkshire Hathaway's success is also a function of Buffett's love for dividend stocks. Companies that pay a dividend are often profitable, time-tested, and have transparent long-term outlooks. This year, Berkshire should collect in excess of $5 billion in dividend income, with north of $4 billion coming from just a half-dozen holdings.

Long story short, riding Buffett's coattails has long been a moneymaking investment strategy.

CrowdStrike Holdings

Just because the stock market is falling and the Fed is scrambling to control historically high inflation, it doesn't mean growth stocks are off-limits for patient investors. A perfect example of a fast-paced company that's a smart buy is cybersecurity stock CrowdStrike Holdings (CRWD).

Since the pandemic began more than two years ago, businesses have accelerated the pace at which they've moved data online and into the cloud. Given that hackers and robots don't take time off just because Wall Street had a bad day, the onus of protecting this data is increasingly falling onto third-party providers like CrowdStrike. Put another way, cybersecurity has evolved from an optional to essential service over the past two-plus decades.

While the cybersecurity industry should be home to a number of winners, CrowdStrike really stands out for its cloud-native Falcon security platform. Falcon oversees approximately 1 trillion events per day and relies on artificial intelligence to grow more efficient at recognizing and responding to potential end-user threats. CrowdStrike isn't the cheapest solution in cybersecurity, but its gross retention rate of 98% suggests it's one of the best.

Additional proof of Falcon's success can be seen in CrowdStrike's subscriber figures and organic growth rate. Over the past five years, the company's subscriber count has grown by an annual average of 105%. What's more, CrowdStrike has reported 16 consecutive quarters with a dollar-based retention rate of at least 120%. This is a fancy way of saying that existing clients spent at least 20% more on a year-over-year basis for four consecutive years (16 quarters).

As the premier name in cybersecurity, any significant pullback in a Fed-driven bear market should be viewed as a buying opportunity.

Walgreens Boots Alliance

A third exceptionally smart stock to buy during a Fed-induced bear market is pharmacy chain Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA).

Generally, healthcare stocks are nearly impervious to wild vacillations in the stock market and, to some extent, the U.S. economy. Because we can't control when we get sick, there's always demand for prescription drugs, medical devices, and healthcare services.

However, Walgreens proved to be a bit of an exception to this rule during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since pharmacy chains are reliant on foot traffic into their stores, the pandemic put a hurting on Walgreens and its peers for a couple of quarters. With the worst of the pandemic likely in the rearview mirror, Walgreens looks poised to shine no matter what the nation's central bank does on the interest rate front.

What makes Walgreens Boots Alliance such an attractive investment is the company's multipoint strategy to lift its margins and organic growth rate. As an example, Walgreens has slashed more than $2 billion in annual operating expenses a full year ahead of schedule. At the same time, it's spent aggressively on digitization initiatives that'll promote direct-to-consumer sales. Even though its brick-and-mortar locations will remain its primary revenue driver, the convenience of online sales should have no trouble boosting the company's organic growth rate.

Speaking of organic growth, Walgreens has also partnered with and invested in VillageMD. The two have opened more than 100 full-service clinics nationwide, as of Feb. 28, 2022, with the goal of reaching at least 600 clinics in more than 30 U.S. markets by the end of 2025. The key here is that these are full-service, physician-staffed clinics, and can therefore handle much more than administering a vaccine. The ability to court repeat clients and funnel those patients to Walgreens' pharmacy should help improve brand loyalty and the company's bottom line.

With Walgreens valued at just 9 times Wall Street's forecast earnings for fiscal 2022 (ended Aug. 31, 2022), now is the perfect time to pounce.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 of the Smartest Stocks to Buy in a Fed-Induced Bear Market
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 of the Smartest Stocks to Buy in a Fed-Induced Bear Market\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-04-11 23:35 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
A little over a year ago, things couldn't have been better for Wall Street. Prices have climbed north of $5 a gallon in California.\"It is not unfathomable for prices to rocket to $200 a barrel by summer, spur a recession and end the year closer to $50 a barrel ($200 call options have been bid),\"said RBC Capital Markets analyst Michael Tran on Yahoo Finance Live.Meanwhile, large Western companies from McDonald's to American Express have suspended operations in Russia due to its war. The financial impacts of these companies taking action against Russia — and their global ramifications — could weigh on corporate earnings in the quarters ahead. All of these factors combined have Wall Street pros such as Tran worried about a potential U.S. recession this year.Whether one happens is unclear, but it's something the market will have to likely begin factoring in.\"I have seen a few recessions over my career and they aren't fun,\" XPO Logistics CEO Brad Jacobs said on Yahoo Finance Live. \"I don't know that we are close to a recession. Right now the consumer is very, very strong and the industrial economy is in its early beginnings of growth. We do have to watch the effect of the European war and how that affects the world economy. We do have to look at how oil prices affect the world. And we do have to see how the Fed lands the plane in terms of raising interest rates in a careful way. But we are not close to a recession, absent some big geopolitical jolt. There is too much strength in the economy right now.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":302,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9957432076,"gmtCreate":1677476368496,"gmtModify":1677476371477,"author":{"id":"3585371340748391","authorId":"3585371340748391","name":"Bibibabablehbleh","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/35cecf2aefaac1d75d2c53007d399e19","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585371340748391","authorIdStr":"3585371340748391"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$PING AN(02318)$ <v-v data-views=\"0\"></v-v>around 3 months 100% increase. Bonds rallied across the curve, led by short-dated tenors. The repricing of the Fed outlook accompanied a wave of demand for the safety of Treasuries as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine entered a new and potentially more deadly phase. Russia’s armed forces will continue their “military operation” in Ukraine until they meet their goals, Interfax quoted Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu as saying.“There is so much uncertainty on the geopolitical side at the moment,” said Sandrine Perret, economist and fixed income strategist at Vontobel Asset Management. “For the Fed, expectations remain that they will proceed with a rate increase in March, but the risk of having a very large increase has been repriced.”The yield on two-year government notes fell as much as 17 basis points to 1.27%. The yield on 10-year bonds tumbled as much as 11 basis points to 1.71%, the lowest since Jan. 24. The benchmark rate was above 2% as recently as Friday.Elsewhere, German 10-year yields slid as much 17 basis points to minus 0.03%, as rates traders bet the European Central Bank will put off raising interest rates until next year. As recently as the middle of last month, they were wagering on two quarter-point increases in September and December, bringing the deposit rate to zero for the first time since 2014.Traders also delayed tightening wagers for the Bank of England by a couple of months, expecting a one-percentage-point increase by November. It's collapsed more than 70% from its highs to under $100 per share in just a few months, showing how the market can both giveth, and taketh away.

However, the market's cold reception toward Sea Limited may not be without merit. There was a significant area of concern with the company's fourth-quarter 2021 earnings results. I'll break down what could have the market spooked about Sea Limited and why the recent dip could be an excellent opportunity for long-term investors.

Sea Limited offers digital products and services in gaming, e-commerce, and fintech. According to App Annie, its gaming segment Garena created Free Fire, the world's most downloaded mobile game from 2019 to 2021. Shopee is Sea Limited's e-commerce marketplace, and Sea Money, its digital payments platform, integrates across the business.

A dark spot in an otherwise bright quarter

Gaming, e-commerce, and fintech are all fast-growing industries, which has enabled Sea Limited to thrive. The company grew its revenue 106% year over year in Q4 2021 and 128% for the entire year. Sea Limited has averaged 119% annual revenue growth over the past three years, so it's continued its rapid growth.

However, management guided Garena for $2.9 billion to $3.1 billion in bookings for 2022. Bookings are essentially funds that have been purchased but not spent on the game platform, so they indicate the momentum of the gaming business. Garena's total 2021 bookings were $4.6 billion, so this is a massive decline that suggests the gaming business could be about to slow down dramatically.

Garena is Sea's "money maker." It contributes all of its profits. Its total 2021 non-GAAP EBITDA from Garena was $2.77 billion, while the rest of the company posted losses, bringing companywide 2021 EBITDA to minus $593 million. Garena's profits enable the company to invest in growth, like expanding into new markets. It's reasonable that a weakness in the gaming business could threaten Sea's path to bottom-line profitability (positive net income), as well as its ability to fund growth.

The stock has become attractive

It's not that investors should dismiss these risks; they need to be monitored by shareholders over the coming quarters. However, some context could be important.

Management attributes the anticipated slowdown to be caused by reopening, where gamers don't have as much time to spend playing Freefire now that work, school, and social gatherings are slowly going back to normal. Freefire is also currently banned in India due to Tencent's stake in Sea Limited. It makes sense that these things might impact Garena, and active users still grew 7% year-over-year in Q4. It's something to watch for sure, but I'm not sure it's an automatic reason to avoid the stock.

Meanwhile, Sea's stock is about as cheap from a price-to-sales ratio standpoint as at any point in its history as a public company. Investors may need to have some patience, but the stock's increasingly attractive valuation could make it worth the wait.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":72,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9039756626,"gmtCreate":1646136308228,"gmtModify":1676534094657,"author":{"id":"3585371340748391","authorId":"3585371340748391","name":"Bibibabablehbleh","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/35cecf2aefaac1d75d2c53007d399e19","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585371340748391","authorIdStr":"3585371340748391"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"I agree with buy too","listText":"I agree with buy too","text":"I agree with buy too","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9039756626","repostId":"1122612020","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1122612020","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1646126318,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1122612020?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-03-01 17:18","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Zoom Shares Slid 2% in Premarket Trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1122612020","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Zoom shares slid 2% in premarket trading as Zoom forecasts annual revenue, profit below estimates.Zo","content":"

Zoom shares slid 2% in premarket trading as Zoom forecasts annual revenue, profit below estimates.

Zoom Video Communications Inc forecast full-year revenue and profit below Wall Street estimates on Monday, signaling a hit from tough competition and lower sign ups for its core Meetings platform.

The video conferencing platform, which derives a large portion of its revenue from smaller organizations, has been hit by slowing growth as schools and workplaces reopen, as well as competition from Cisco's conferencing tool Webex, Microsoft's Teams and Salesforce's Slack.

However, Zoom said it would continue to focus on expanding internationally to boost growth.

"The one silver lining from the guidance is there is some implied acceleration in the second half of the fiscal 2023, which suggests that growth rates will trough before reaccelerating," said RBC Capital Markets analyst Rishi Jaluria.

"The outlook isn't as bad as it looks, especially given how beaten down the stock is."

Zoom beat estimates for fourth-quarter sales and profit, as revenue from enterprise customers grew by 38%.

The company forecast annual adjusted profit of between $3.45 and $3.51 per share, compared with estimates of $4.41 per share, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.

It also expects full-year revenue to be in the range of $4.53 billion to $4.55 billion, below expectations of $4.71 billion.

Revenue in the fourth quarter rose 21% to $1.07 billion, the company's slowest-ever growth since it went public in 2019. We won't be held hostage to solar power.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":381,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9949366065,"gmtCreate":1678372042458,"gmtModify":1678380590833,"author":{"id":"3585371340748391","authorId":"3585371340748391","name":"Bibibabablehbleh","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/35cecf2aefaac1d75d2c53007d399e19","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585371340748391","authorIdStr":"3585371340748391"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ <v-v data-views=\"0\"></v-v>Down","listText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ <v-v data-views=\"0\"></v-v>Down","text":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ Down","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9949366065","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":347,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9949319883,"gmtCreate":1678357475842,"gmtModify":1678357479382,"author":{"id":"3585371340748391","authorId":"3585371340748391","name":"Bibibabablehbleh","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/35cecf2aefaac1d75d2c53007d399e19","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585371340748391","authorIdStr":"3585371340748391"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ <v-v data-views=\"0\"></v-v>Trends will repeat.
