I believe that the Fed will hike by 75bps this time nut hint to the market that future hikes will be less steep. The US economy (and indeed the world economy) is clearly headed into a recession. Look no further than the crashing freight rates and the accelerating trends of retrenchment happening in the US. Not to mention the signs if weakening in the real estate sector. The Fed can clearly not sustain the current path of high interest rates. Not least because it can hardly afford it (literally). At the current interest rates, the US government is paying US$735.6bn in interest payments. Very soon the amount will be US$1trn. This can only mean that most of the negative news and expectations in the markets are already priced in by investors.
$Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing(TSM)$Semicon sector has been positive on the shortage story for a long time. This could mark the end of the run. At least in the short term. No positive story goes on forever.
A very thoughtful and insightful article talking about finding the Third Way for China, between pure Socialism and Capitalism. Author argues that in the first stage of China's development, capitalism has enlarged the pie for everyone. But in the next stage, China has to find a way to distribute the fruits of economic growth more evenly. Government should start by re-assessing the role of capitalism in the 3 pivotal sectors: education, medical care and housing. Actually, I believe they might have to move closer to the Singapore model where the public sector retains a huge role in these 3 segments, satisfying the needs of the majority of the people without surrendering it to a pure capitalist model. https://finance.sina.cn/zl/2021-07-27/zl-ikqcfnca9244156.d.html?from=wap
