I'm glad Netflix doesn't have ads. Services shouldn't always be delivered to pander to investors. That's not how you make great services.

In the second quarter, warned the banker, trading volumes at retail brokerages showed as much as a 30% sequential decline in meme stock buying. And of course, it's hard to create a short squeeze without buyers.
\n
Result: Meme stocks took a tumble, with Eastman Kodak(NYSE:KODK)closing Thursday down 8.5% from Friday's close,BlackBerry Limited(NYSE:BB)losing 10.4%, and GameStop(NYSE:GME)crashing to a 12.8% loss.
\n
So what
\n
Only in one instance was there actual news to explain the declines. In fact, more than half of GameStop's losses for the week came on just one trading day -- Wednesday -- when Bloomberg reported that Netflix is eying an entryinto the video game space, in which it will de facto compete with GameStop.
\n
As for the other companies, though -- and as for meme stocks in general--it's primarily a shift in sentiment against the companies that's weighing on their stock prices. In the second quarter, warned the banker, trading volumes at retail brokerages showed as much as a 30% sequential decline in meme stock buying. And of course, it's hard to create a short squeeze without buyers.\nResult: Meme stocks took a tumble, with Eastman Kodak(NYSE:KODK)closing Thursday down 8.5% from Friday's close,BlackBerry Limited(NYSE:BB)losing 10.4%, and GameStop(NYSE:GME)crashing to a 12.8% loss.\nSo what\nOnly in one instance was there actual news to explain the declines. In fact, more than half of GameStop's losses for the week came on just one trading day -- Wednesday -- when Bloomberg reported that Netflix is eying an entryinto the video game space, in which it will de facto compete with GameStop.\nAs for the other companies, though -- and as for meme stocks in general--it's primarily a shift in sentiment against the companies that's weighing on their stock prices. As Amazon founder Jeff Bezos believes, the focus should be on what stays the same, as opposed to what we think might change in the future.
\n
This means that sticking to boring, steady, and predictable companies can be a worthwhile strategy. Costco Wholesale
\n
Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ:COST), with its 809 warehouses around the world, generated sales of $44.4 billion in the most recent quarter, a 21.7% jump from the prior-year period. As one of the world's largest retailers, Costco was a mission-critical business during the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Consumers visited stores to shop for everything from cleaning supplies to food.
\n
The company's operations haven't changed much over time, and they likely won't anytime soon. Even e-commerce sales, which expanded rapidly over the past year and grew 41.2% in the most recent quarter, are slowing down. During the month of May, online revenue rose just 12.1%, signaling that shoppers are able and willing to transact more in person now.
\n
Costco is a recession-proof business that does well in good and bad economic times, which provides the safety investors want in a forever stock. Moreover, the reliance on membership fees, of which Costco generated $901 million last quarter, allows the company to keep prices very low. As of March 31, Costco had 109.8 million membership cardholders.
\n
Costco has and will continue to gain from its relentless focus to pass on savings to customers. This consumer-friendly fixation makes it difficult for rivals to compete and makes the business that much more loved by its shoppers.
\n
2. Home Depot
\n
Home Depot (NYSE:HD) has grown to a $331 billion business because people love to spend on their homes. Again, this facet of human nature will never change, and it was on full display over the past year. Home Depot's revenue in fiscal 2020 increased 19.9%, the fastest annual gain in at least a decade. As consumers spent more time indoors and shifted spending away from travel, entertainment, and leisure, Home Depot benefited greatly.
\n
And even as we slowly recover from the pandemic, the momentum is still strong. Same-store sales (or comps) in the most recent quarter shot up 31%, continuing an acceleration over the past four quarters. The housing market is on fire, supported by still historically low interest rates and rising home prices, all of which support demand for Home Depot's products.
\n
The company serves both do-it-yourself (DIY) and professional (Pro) customers. The former outperformed during 2020, but the latter is reemerging as a real growth driver as people require work on bigger projects and are more comfortable allowing contractors into their homes. Additionally, a seamless omnichannel approach allows customers to shop Home Depot in whatever manner they like. In the most recent quarter, 55% of online orders were actually fulfilled at a store.
\n
Home Depot paid $1.8 billion in dividends in the first quarter, and also bought back $4 billion worth of shares. Focusing on returning excess cash to shareholders further boosts investor returns.
\n
3. Starbucks
\n
Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX), the ubiquitous coffeehouse chain with nearly 33,000 locations worldwide, is arguably an even more important part of people's daily lives than the previous two companies. Americans (and the rest of the world) need their caffeine fix, and Starbucks is there to deliver.
\n
The business is back to registering growth in the U.S. following a huge slowdown last year. With 22.9 million active rewards members, Starbucks' top-notch loyalty program encourages repeat business. In the most recent quarter, a whopping 52% of sales at U.S. company-operated stores were from these rewards-program customers.
\n
You may think there isn't much growth left for this powerful brand that already has stores basically everywhere, but think again. During the investor day presentation last December, CFO Patrick Grismer claimed that by 2030, Starbucks plans to have 55,000 outlets in 100 markets globally. This 67% increase would make it the largest restaurant chain in the world. With revenue of $23.8 billion over the past 12 months, this ambitious goal should certainly boost that number significantly.
\n
Expect China, where comps soared 91% in the most recent quarter, to be a major growth driver going forward. Starbucks plans to open 600 net new stores in the country just in this fiscal year.
\n
Boring is beautiful
\n
All three of these companies are absolutely essential in their customers' lives. Without Costco, Home Depot, or Starbucks, people wouldn't be able to get the things they desperately need. Furthermore, they all benefit from strong competitive advantages that protect them from rival firms.
\n
In the future, we know with a high level of confidence that the products that these businesses sell will still be in high demand. This is the primary reason why they are three stocks you can keep forever.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Stocks You Can Keep Forever
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Stocks You Can Keep Forever\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-26 10:07 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
When looking for investments that have the potential to be held forever, it's beneficial not to only look at the latest technological craze or most disruptive businesses. And the transportation industry contributes roughly half of all the business for integrated oil and gas companies, which handle all three aspects of the process from exploration to production to refining, according to Giacomo Romeo, integrated oil and gas analyst with Jefferies Group.
\n
Electric passenger vehicles such as the Tesla (TSLA) -Get Report Model 3, Nissan’s (NSANY) Leaf, Hyundai’s (HYMTF) Kona Electric and others are expected to account for 86% of all passenger vehicles on the road by 2050,up dramaticallyfrom just 1% last year. Meanwhile, electric vans are expected to soar to 84% of all vans from 0% last year, while 79% of buses and 59% of heavy trucks will be electric, up from 2% and 0%, respectively, according to IEA’s report “Net Zero by 2050: A Roadmap for the Global Energy Sector.”
\n
Catalysts driving this growth in the U.S. are expected to come from car manufacturers increasing both the total number of electric vehicles and the number of models they offer, government agencies offering incentives to consumers to purchase electric vehicles and support from President Biden to increase the use of electric vehicles, according to Edmunds. The automotive research firm released a report this year that found the U.S. electric vehicle market is on track to post record sales this year, with EVs expected to represent 2.5% of U.S. vehicle sales this year, up from 1.9% in 2020.
\n
“Price and choice of models are the biggest barriers to buying EVs for consumers,” said Jessica Caldwell, executive director of insights for Edmunds. “You always pay more for EVs and once people start shopping for a car, they start with the intent of buying an EV, but when they begin to compare they see they can get a bigger one with more features than an EV. People equate bigger with better and think it’s a nicer car and more worthy.\"
\n
Recently, consumers’ preference hasswung to larger vehiclesand those tend to be gas-powered. But this year, for the first time, consumers will have the option of purchasing electric trucks, which expands the consumer EV categories beyond just passenger cars and SUVs, Caldwell noted.
\n
By 2030, EV sales worldwide are expected to reach 31.1 million and represent approximately 32% of all new car sales, up from 2.5 million EVs sold last year, according to Deloitte Insights’ “Electric Vehicles Setting a Course for 2030” report.
\n
However, oil and gas companies, especially Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A) -Get Report and British Petroleum (BP ADR), likely won't go the way of the dinosaurs as demand for their fossil fuels takes a deep dive, analysts say.
\n
“I’m not sure the transportation industry will get to 100% EV,” said Jamie Hamilton, director and leader in the UK automotive sector strategy and operations for Deloitte. “Passenger cars may get there in the next five to 10 years depending on prices coming down and charging infrastructure rollouts, but freight and heavy vehicles may not” due to their weight.
\n
Dinosaurs Learn a New Dance
\n
The oil and gas industry is exploring a number of workarounds to avoid the financial hit from a potential decline in oil and gas demand brought on by electric vehicles. They received a taste of what a big dip in transportation demand would look like when COVID-19 hit and people hunkered down at home versus heading into the office or traveling.
\n
“Most of the oil and gas industry already had an eye on the changes going on in the larger market for some time, so the growth of EVs is not a surprise. But with the decline in driving and commuting with COVID, this was more stark than people predicted,” said Kate Hardin, executive director of Deloitte Energy, Resources and Industrials research center. “That took commuting down by 40% to 50% in some communities.”
\n
Hardin said there has been a lot of discussion among large oil and gas companies to explore new business models, such as developing solar energy, battery technology and energy storage.
\n
Many fossil fuel companies are investing in power generation, such as renewable energy including solar and wind, Romeo said. Currently, the oil and gas industry is investing 15% of its total capital into power generation, and that is expected to increase to 25% after 2025.
\n
However, the power generation business has returns of 10% at best, while the downstream business of refining fossil fuels has returns of 10% to 15% and the upstream business of extracting and producing the fuels about 20%, Romeo said. While the oil and gas business generally has higher returns, Rome said it is also far more volatile than the power generation business.
\n
Additionally, the cost of capital for the oil and gas business is higher than that for the renewables industry, due to increasing environmental, social and governance (ESG)- related concerns in the oil and gas business, and declining interest from investors.
\n
“There is always a balance that has to be weighed,” Romeo said.
\n
One-Stop Shop Strategy
\n
The larger oil and gas companies are also evaluating the design and use of their retail gas stations as consumers’ needs and behavior are expected to change.
\n
Companies with a large network of gas stations are considering transitioning them to EV charging stations, and those that have convenience stores as part of their stations expect to make even more money off of them once they are converted. That’s because charging an EV typically takes significantly longer than filling an internal combustion engine vehicle with gas.
\n
Companies in Europe and the U.S. actually get more revenue from their non-fuel business at their retail stations than they do from fuel, Romeo said.
\n
“Oil companies see [that] as people charge their cars, they will spend more time in retail stores drinking coffee, shopping for groceries,” Romeo said. “BP and Shell are already talking about this.”
\n
However, people will also be using retail charging stations less often because they can charge their cars at home, at work or at other places that have charging stations.
\n
Other Survival Strategies
\n
Biofuels, which are produced from organic material such as corn, other vegetables and animal fats, are another area that oil and gas companies are exploring. For the aviation industry, biofuel is currently being mixed in with traditional jet fuel, but Boeing BA, for example, plans to fly its fleet using 100% biofuel by 2030, according to Reuters.
\n
Biofuels have high returns on investment too, Romeo noted. One company, Finland-based Neste (OTC: NTOIY), recently moved away from traditional refining to become the world’s largest renewable diesel producer, generating 30% returns compared to 12% for its traditional refining business.
\n
Integrated oil and gas companies, which handle all three aspects of the process including exploration, production and refining, are also investing in hydrogen and batteries. Because renewable energy sources such as solar and wind do not provide a constant stream of energy, the energy they generate needs to be stored in either hydrogen or batteries for later use.
\n
Storing energy can be profitable since it allows companies like Shell and British Petroleum to act as energy traders that leverage supply and demand. Shell, for example, plans to increase its power trading business from 255 Terawatts per hour (TWh) now to 560TWh in 2030, Romeo said.
\n
The battery energy storage market is expected to reach $19.7 billion by 2027, according to Fortune Business Insights. However, that’s a drop in the bucket compared to the global oil and gas exploration and production market, which is expected to reach an estimated $2.1 trillion this year, according to IBISWorld.
\n
Which Oil Companies Could Still Thrive
\n
Potentialwinners in making the transitionas electric vehicles eat into their fossil fuel business include Shell.
\n
“I like Shell -- I believe they see energy transition from the right angle,” Romeo said. “They view themselves as an energy center that delivers lower-carbon energy solutions. They don’t seek to own capacity but instead, they plan to deliver de-carbonization solutions to their customers via a combination of renewable power, carbon credits, and other offsets.”
\n
Edmunds’ Caldwell believes the traditional oil and gas companies have some staying power, despite recent moves by states and nations to limit the sale of new gas-powered vehicles over the next several decades.
\n
“Gas-powered vehicles are not going away overnight. The bans are on new vehicle sales and not ownership of gas-powered vehicles. I think there will be a long window for the oil and gas industries to pivot. It is not a flip of the switch and they’re gone,” Caldwell said.
","source":"lsy1610613172068","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
What the Growing Ascendance of Electric Vehicles Means for Oil and Gas Stocks
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhat the Growing Ascendance of Electric Vehicles Means for Oil and Gas Stocks\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-24 15:01 GMT+8 The Street\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
As Tesla and other carmakers ramp up the number of EVs on the road, oil and gas companies are trying out a host of strategies to compensate.\n\nElectric vehicles (EVs) are poised to run over the oil and...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"HYMTF":"Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd.","BP":"英国石油","RDS.A":"荷兰皇家壳牌石油A类股","NSANY":"日产汽车","TSLA":"特斯拉"},"source_url":"https://www.thestreet.com/investing/what-growing-ascendance-of-evs-means-for-oil-and-gas-stocks","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1170018171","content_text":"As Tesla and other carmakers ramp up the number of EVs on the road, oil and gas companies are trying out a host of strategies to compensate.\n\nElectric vehicles (EVs) are poised to run over the oil and gas industry -- at least that’s what it seems like at first glance.\nBy 2050, the vast majority of transport vehicles on the road across the globe are expected to be electric, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA). Her stock picks and the daily buys and sells of stocks within her ARK ETFs are picked apart with a fine tooth comb every day of the week.
\n
Prior to 2021, there was nothing but love. The company's flagshipARK Innovation ETF (ARKK)had grown from around $1.8 billion at the beginning of 2020 to nearly $28 billion during its February 2021 peak. Investors were chasing her incredible track record over the prior several years and up to that point it had mostly paid off.
\n
2021 has been a different story. ARK's high-tech innovation theme has fallen out of favor and ARKK had fallen as much as 36% from its peak. The money, which had been flowing in non-stop, started heading in the other direction and Cathie Wood suddenly became the object of scorn for many previous ARK fans. With the sudden influx on new money and the timing of the sharp downturn of ARKK, it was estimated that more than half of the money sitting in the fund was underwater.
\n
But that doesn't make ARKK any less interesting. Many people still watch ARK's transaction activity like a hawk and it does give us some insight into what one of the most watched financial minds is thinking in real time.
\n
Like I didearlier this year, I'm going back toarktrack.comto comb through their database of ARK transaction data. Cathie Wood buys and sells a lot, but these are 10 stocks that are new additions to ARKK in 2021 that the fund still holds onto today.
\n
Twitter (TWTR)
\n
Wood has been steadily buying Twitter stock on the dips and it now accounts for about 1.8% of the fund overall, making it the 19th largest holding in ARKK out of 51 total holdings.
\n
Wood bought a big stake in May following a double-digit decline after disappointing quarterly guidance. She picked up more shares in late May with Benzinganotingthe curious timing:
\n
\n Cathie Wood-led Ark Investment Management on Monday bought 731,775 shares, estimated to be worth about $41.76 million, in Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) — a day after The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Trust sold its entire stake in the social media company.\n
\n
DraftKings (DKNG)
\n
DraftKings is another stock that Wood has been in and out of a lot. Like Twitter, she's been buying the stock on the dips, most recently just last week when she added $42 million in shares across multiple ARK ETFs after Hindenburg Researchtooka short position in the company.
\n
Today, DKNG accounts for about 1.9% of ARKK, making it the 18th largest holding.
\n
Palantir (PLTR)
\n
Wood took a huge position in Palantir towards the end of March and has expanded that position throughout the 2nd quarter. In May, she added more shares in both ARKK and theARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW)after a Q1 earnings beat that sent the stock higher.
\n
Palantir has become one of ARKK's larger holdings with about 2.5% of assets.
\n
Coinbase (COIN)
\n
Coinbase officially went public on April 14th of this year and it didn't take long for Wood to jump on board. She bought shares almost immediately after it became publicly listed and pretty much hasn't stopped since.
\n
Cathie Wood has been bullish on bitcoin and cryptocurrency for a while and the heavy allocation to COIN is reflective of that.
\n
COIN is the only one of ARKK's new positions of 2021 that falls into the fund's top 10 holdings. Her stock picks and the daily buys and sells of stocks within her ARK ETFs are picked apart with a fine tooth comb every day of the week.\nPrior to 2021, there was nothing but love. The company's flagshipARK Innovation ETF (ARKK)had grown from around $1.8 billion at the beginning of 2020 to nearly $28 billion during its February 2021 peak. Investors were chasing her incredible track record over the prior several years and up to that point it had mostly paid off.\n2021 has been a different story. ARK's high-tech innovation theme has fallen out of favor and ARKK had fallen as much as 36% from its peak. The money, which had been flowing in non-stop, started heading in the other direction and Cathie Wood suddenly became the object of scorn for many previous ARK fans. With the sudden influx on new money and the timing of the sharp downturn of ARKK, it was estimated that more than half of the money sitting in the fund was underwater.\nBut that doesn't make ARKK any less interesting. Many people still watch ARK's transaction activity like a hawk and it does give us some insight into what one of the most watched financial minds is thinking in real time.\nLike I didearlier this year, I'm going back toarktrack.comto comb through their database of ARK transaction data. Cathie Wood buys and sells a lot, but these are 10 stocks that are new additions to ARKK in 2021 that the fund still holds onto today.\nTwitter (TWTR)\nWood has been steadily buying Twitter stock on the dips and it now accounts for about 1.8% of the fund overall, making it the 19th largest holding in ARKK out of 51 total holdings.\nWood bought a big stake in May following a double-digit decline after disappointing quarterly guidance. She picked up more shares in late May with Benzinganotingthe curious timing:\n\n Cathie Wood-led Ark Investment Management on Monday bought 731,775 shares, estimated to be worth about $41.76 million, in Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) — a day after The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Trust sold its entire stake in the social media company.\n\nDraftKings (DKNG)\nDraftKings is another stock that Wood has been in and out of a lot. Like Twitter, she's been buying the stock on the dips, most recently just last week when she added $42 million in shares across multiple ARK ETFs after Hindenburg Researchtooka short position in the company.\nToday, DKNG accounts for about 1.9% of ARKK, making it the 18th largest holding.\nPalantir (PLTR)\nWood took a huge position in Palantir towards the end of March and has expanded that position throughout the 2nd quarter. In May, she added more shares in both ARKK and theARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW)after a Q1 earnings beat that sent the stock higher.\nPalantir has become one of ARKK's larger holdings with about 2.5% of assets.\nCoinbase (COIN)\nCoinbase officially went public on April 14th of this year and it didn't take long for Wood to jump on board. She bought shares almost immediately after it became publicly listed and pretty much hasn't stopped since.\nCathie Wood has been bullish on bitcoin and cryptocurrency for a while and the heavy allocation to COIN is reflective of that.\nCOIN is the only one of ARKK's new positions of 2021 that falls into the fund's top 10 holdings. It's currently at #10 with approximately 3.3% of assets.\nNovartis (NVS)\nYou may not immediately think of pharmaceutical companies when it comes to the types of companies Wood typically targets, but she views NVS as a play on her expected biotech/genomics theme. NVS also sneaks into the top 10 holdings of theARK Genomic Revolution ETF (ARKG).\nIn ARKK, however, NVS is only one of the fund's smallest holdings with a relatively scant 0.4% of assets.\nTrimble (TRMB)\nTrimble is involved in the development and/or production of global navigation satellite systems, laser rangefinders, unmanned aerial vehicles and navigation systems, so it's not surprising that this found it's way onto Cathie Wood's radar. The stock shows up in very few ETFs overall, but it's the top holding in theARK Space Exploration ETF (ARKX)at 9% of assets and #3 in theARK Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF (ARKQ).\nIn ARKK, however, it's only a small holding with only 0.5% of assets.\nTeradyne (TER)\nTeradyne is a stock that's gone in and out of the ARK ETFs for several years. It mostly disappeared heading into 2021, but re-emerged in ARKK with a roughly 2 million share purchase in the 1st quarter. Wood has held on through the midway point of 2021, but only at a modest 1% of total assets.\nSkillz (SKLZ)\nSkillz is a mobile esports platform, which makes it an ideal high growth next-gen tech play for the ARK funds. Like many companies in this space, it's experienced big growth during the pandemic and Wood has become one of the company's bigger advocates.\nShe was been building a position in SKLZ throughout the year, but added another batch of shares in early May following a big increase in both revenues and average users. The stock is a middle of the road holding for ARKK at about 1.3% of assets.\nFate Therapeutics (FATE)\nWood was in on Fate early in the year and continues to hold it following her belief in biotech and therapeutics. Fate is a top 10 holding in ARKG and accounts for about 1.2% of ARKK.\n10X Genomics (TXG)\n10X Genomics sits just outside the top 10 of ARKK, but it's become one of the fund's largest new positions of 2021. Curiously, it also ranks outside the top 10 of ARKG. At roughly 2.4% of assets, TXG's position in ARKK is nearly the same as both Palantir and DraftKings.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":293,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":121427814,"gmtCreate":1624490418538,"gmtModify":1703838014514,"author":{"id":"3585608428233531","authorId":"3585608428233531","name":"JAWong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fe1b000a4e7d027e9f7a6e9be43ce30d","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585608428233531","authorIdStr":"3585608428233531"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/121427814","repostId":"1196569246","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":486,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":151274309,"gmtCreate":1625096911001,"gmtModify":1703735943787,"author":{"id":"3585608428233531","authorId":"3585608428233531","name":"JAWong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fe1b000a4e7d027e9f7a6e9be43ce30d","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585608428233531","authorIdStr":"3585608428233531"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"I'm glad Netflix doesn't have ads. As Amazon founder Jeff Bezos believes, the focus should be on what stays the same, as opposed to what we think might change in the future.
\n
This means that sticking to boring, steady, and predictable companies can be a worthwhile strategy. Fitting this description, here are three stocks you can keep forever.
\n
\n
It's currently at #10 with approximately 3.3% of assets.
\n
Novartis (NVS)
\n
You may not immediately think of pharmaceutical companies when it comes to the types of companies Wood typically targets, but she views NVS as a play on her expected biotech/genomics theme. NVS also sneaks into the top 10 holdings of theARK Genomic Revolution ETF (ARKG).
\n
In ARKK, however, NVS is only one of the fund's smallest holdings with a relatively scant 0.4% of assets.
\n
Trimble (TRMB)
\n
Trimble is involved in the development and/or production of global navigation satellite systems, laser rangefinders, unmanned aerial vehicles and navigation systems, so it's not surprising that this found it's way onto Cathie Wood's radar. The stock shows up in very few ETFs overall, but it's the top holding in theARK Space Exploration ETF (ARKX)at 9% of assets and #3 in theARK Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF (ARKQ).
\n
In ARKK, however, it's only a small holding with only 0.5% of assets.
\n
Teradyne (TER)
\n
Teradyne is a stock that's gone in and out of the ARK ETFs for several years. It mostly disappeared heading into 2021, but re-emerged in ARKK with a roughly 2 million share purchase in the 1st quarter. Wood has held on through the midway point of 2021, but only at a modest 1% of total assets.
\n
Skillz (SKLZ)
\n
Skillz is a mobile esports platform, which makes it an ideal high growth next-gen tech play for the ARK funds. Like many companies in this space, it's experienced big growth during the pandemic and Wood has become one of the company's bigger advocates.
\n
She was been building a position in SKLZ throughout the year, but added another batch of shares in early May following a big increase in both revenues and average users. The stock is a middle of the road holding for ARKK at about 1.3% of assets.
\n
Fate Therapeutics (FATE)
\n
Wood was in on Fate early in the year and continues to hold it following her belief in biotech and therapeutics. Fate is a top 10 holding in ARKG and accounts for about 1.2% of ARKK.
\n
10X Genomics (TXG)
\n
10X Genomics sits just outside the top 10 of ARKK, but it's become one of the fund's largest new positions of 2021. Curiously, it also ranks outside the top 10 of ARKG. At roughly 2.4% of assets, TXG's position in ARKK is nearly the same as both Palantir and DraftKings.
","source":"lsy1610613172068","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
10 Stocks That The ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) Added In The 1st Half Of 2021
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n10 Stocks That The ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) Added In The 1st Half Of 2021\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-23 19:15 GMT+8 The Street\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Cathie Wood's new positions this year include a mix of genomics, tech, internet and cryptocurrency plays.\n\nThere might not be a bigger rock star investors in the world right now than Cathie Wood.
