The Pirates of the Caribbean swashbuckler-heavy boat ride has spawned the most successful theatrical franchise based on a theme park attraction, but Disney hasn't shied away from putting out films titled Country Bear Jamboree, Haunted Mansion, Mission to Mars, and Tower of Terror.
\n
Some of those flicks aren't particularly watchable, but the synergy is fairly obvious if things click. Disney has been investing in updating the attraction on both coasts. It's not necessarily the new film's arrival inspiring the tweaks. We're not getting audio-animatronics of Blunt and The Rock added to the watery attraction. The original Jungle Cruise ride had some elements that don't jibe with the woke new normal, joining Pirates of the Caribbean and eventually Splash Mountain as classic rides that are going for a more socially-aware makeover.
\n
Disney's ecosystem is difficult to top. It operates the world's most-visited theme parks. In 2019 it put out the country's six highest-grossing films. Its media empire is helmed by ABC, Disney Channel, and ESPN, and they give the House of Mouse a deep reach into homes. It's not just mere luck that the Disney+ streaming service would go on to top 100 million paying subscribers just months into its second year of availability. Put it all together and Disney is built to cash in on any property that spikes in popularity in any of its operating segments.
\n
The easiest connection is when Disney has a hit movie, a pond that is well stocked after making 10-figure acquisitions of Marvel, Pixar, and Lucasfilm. Lucasfilm's Star Wars is the basis of themed lands at Disney's theme parks in Florida and California; it's the series that put Disney+ on the map, and a Star Wars-themed luxury escapism hotel will open next year at Disney World.
\n
The new Behind the Attraction show on Disney+ is smart. It gives the bellwether media stock promotional material that it can push out as content for the fast-growing service. Don't make these mistakes when the next one hits.","content":"
The scary thing about stock market crashes is that they can happen when you least expect them to. And while stock market crashes are normal in that they actually occur somewhat frequently, they can be terrifying for investors who aren't used to them.
\n
But the decisions you make during a market crash will dictate whether you survive it unscathed, or whether you end up taking serious losses you don't recover from for years. With that in mind, here are three moves you might seriously regret during a stock market downturn.
\n
1. Selling when investment values plunge
\n
When you buy stocks, you lock in those investments at a certain price. That price can then rise or fall on an ongoing basis.
\n
If you don't sell your stocks while their value is up, you won't make money. Similarly, if you don't sell your stocks when their values declines, you won't suffer losses. It's the latter you really need to keep in mind during a stock market crash.
\n
When investment values start to fall, it can very tempting to cash out investments in an effort to minimize the blow. But the stock market has a long history of recovering from crashes, so if you leave your portfolio alone, you'll give your stock values a chance to come back up rather than guarantee yourself losses that could've been easily avoided.
\n
2. Pausing your retirement plan contributions
\n
The point of putting money into a 401(k) or IRA isn't to just let it sit there in cash. Rather, you're supposed to invest it so it grows into a large sum over time.
\n
You may be inclined to stop funding your retirement savings during periods when the stock market is doing poorly. But that's a mistake. The money that goes into your retirement plan gets tax-advantaged treatment, whether immediately or in the future, so it pays to keep pumping cash into your account even when the stock market isn't at its strongest.
\n
3. Not adding discounted stocks to your portfolio
\n
Many people assume that buying stocks during a market crash is a bad idea. But actually, the opposite is true.
\n
During market downturns, stock values tend to fall across the board. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the companies you're interested in are actually worth less money than they were the month prior. It just means that temporarily, their share prices are down. That gives you a prime opportunity to buy quality stocks when they're less expensive.
\n
For example, if you're interested in a given company whose share prices has been hovering around $50, during a market crash, it might fall to $40. And while stock market crashes are normal in that they actually occur somewhat frequently, they can be terrifying for investors who aren't used to them.\nBut the decisions you make during a market crash will dictate whether you survive it unscathed, or whether you end up taking serious losses you don't recover from for years. With that in mind, here are three moves you might seriously regret during a stock market downturn.\n1. Selling when investment values plunge\nWhen you buy stocks, you lock in those investments at a certain price. That price can then rise or fall on an ongoing basis.\nIf you don't sell your stocks while their value is up, you won't make money. Similarly, if you don't sell your stocks when their values declines, you won't suffer losses. It's the latter you really need to keep in mind during a stock market crash.\nWhen investment values start to fall, it can very tempting to cash out investments in an effort to minimize the blow. But the stock market has a long history of recovering from crashes, so if you leave your portfolio alone, you'll give your stock values a chance to come back up rather than guarantee yourself losses that could've been easily avoided.\n2. Pausing your retirement plan contributions\nThe point of putting money into a 401(k) or IRA isn't to just let it sit there in cash. Rather, you're supposed to invest it so it grows into a large sum over time.\nYou may be inclined to stop funding your retirement savings during periods when the stock market is doing poorly. But that's a mistake. The money that goes into your retirement plan gets tax-advantaged treatment, whether immediately or in the future, so it pays to keep pumping cash into your account even when the stock market isn't at its strongest.\n3. Not adding discounted stocks to your portfolio\nMany people assume that buying stocks during a market crash is a bad idea. But actually, the opposite is true.\nDuring market downturns, stock values tend to fall across the board. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the companies you're interested in are actually worth less money than they were the month prior. It just means that temporarily, their share prices are down. That gives you a prime opportunity to buy quality stocks when they're less expensive.\nFor example, if you're interested in a given company whose share prices has been hovering around $50, during a market crash, it might fall to $40. Does that mean that from now on, shares will only be worth 40? Not at all. But if you scoop them up at $40 apiece, you'll set yourself up to profit big time when their values creeps back up to $50 or beyond.\nKnowing how to navigate a stock market crash could prevent you from making poor decisions that hurt you financially. Avoid the above mistakes the next time the market takes a turn for the worse -- you'll be much better off for it in the long run.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":565,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":141207434,"gmtCreate":1625873513128,"gmtModify":1703750103583,"author":{"id":"3586524355279010","authorId":"3586524355279010","name":"kweiji","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02182d83ef3facbb2e9107198ff40282","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586524355279010","authorIdStr":"3586524355279010"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Possible ","listText":"Possible ","text":"Possible","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/141207434","repostId":"1104740942","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1104740942","pubTimestamp":1625872705,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1104740942?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-10 07:18","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Electric vehicle company Nio can rally 50%, says HSBC as it upgrades the stock","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1104740942","media":"CNBC","summary":"Chinese automaker Nio stands to benefit from strong electric vehicle demand growth, which should pus","content":"
\n
Chinese automaker Nio stands to benefit from strong electric vehicle demand growth, which should push the stock higher, HSBC said Friday as it upgraded the company to a buy rating.\n“We expect Nio’s ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; HSBC’s prior target was $54.\nNio said earlier in July that it delivered a record 8,083 vehicles in June, bringing its total for the second quarter to 21,896. The company had forecast deliveries between 21,000 and 22,000 for the period. June’s number follows a decline in May as the global chip shortage hurt Nio’s business.\nFor 2021, Nio has delivered more than 41,900 cars, which is almost as high as 2020′s total of 43,728.\nHSBC said that Nio’s established place in the electric vehicle market gives it a first-mover advantage as vehicle sales expand.\n“We see Nio’s strong brand traction, solid product offering and solid reputation among existing car owners to likely drive its continuing volume growth,” analysts led by Yuqian Ding wrote in a note to clients. “With existing SUV models and the to-be-introduced sedan series and its in-house autonomous driving software, we see Nio likely establishing itself in the premium EV segment.”\nUnderlying HSBC’s bullish call on Nio is the firm’s belief that electric vehicle sales across China will continue to rise. Ding noted that through May NEV sales, or new energy vehicles as they’re called in China, rose 236% year over year compared to 38% year-over-year growth in the overall auto market.\n“Generation Z, in our view, is likely the most tangible car buyer group for the coming decade and they are more electric vehicle friendly,” he said.\nHSBC lifted its 2025 and 2030 electric vehicle penetration estimates to 22% and 45%, up from 19% and 39%, respectively. Under its bull case scenario, the firm envisions EVs encompassing 71% of the market by 2030.\nHSBC also holds buy ratings on Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd and BYD.\nShares of Nio were down slightly on Friday. For the year they’re down 6%, but up nearly 213% over the last year.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":277,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":141992244,"gmtCreate":1625831207388,"gmtModify":1703749413062,"author":{"id":"3586524355279010","authorId":"3586524355279010","name":"kweiji","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02182d83ef3facbb2e9107198ff40282","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586524355279010","authorIdStr":"3586524355279010"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like ","listText":"Like ","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/141992244","repostId":"1181179663","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":337,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":149980344,"gmtCreate":1625701195788,"gmtModify":1703746541324,"author":{"id":"3586524355279010","authorId":"3586524355279010","name":"kweiji","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02182d83ef3facbb2e9107198ff40282","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586524355279010","authorIdStr":"3586524355279010"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ai","listText":"Ai","text":"Ai","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/149980344","repostId":"1105521462","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1105521462","pubTimestamp":1625670735,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1105521462?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-07 23:12","market":"fut","language":"en","title":"Oil Drops With Stronger Dollar and OPEC-Fueled Uncertainty","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105521462","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"(Bloomberg) -- Oil prices dropped as the dollar surged and investors awaited further signals from th","content":"
(Bloomberg) -- Oil prices dropped as the dollar surged and investors awaited further signals from the OPEC+ alliance, which has been locked in a dispute over boosting output.
\n
West Texas Intermediate futures fell as much as 3.1% in New York. The U.S. dollar rose to a three-month high and equities fell from all-time highs after a jobs report missed expectations. A strong dollar typically makes commodities priced in the currency less attractive to investors. Prices earlier swung between gains and losses as the ongoing dispute among OPEC+ members has threatened a global supply deficit.
\n
“People are just wildly uncertain” what the OPEC+ stalemate means for the future of output, said Edward Moya, senior market analyst at Oanda Corp. “August is in question and the demand warrants more production.”
\n
Oil prices have soared more than 50% so far this year with consumption returning and the previous OPEC+ production deal keeping a lid on output. But investors remain uncertain about both the future of the OPEC+ supply agreement as well as the demand recovery with the delta variant of Covid-19 continuing to plague reopening efforts.
\n
JPMorgan Chase & Co. is among banks that anticipates a deal will be found. The U.S. dollar rose to a three-month high and equities fell from all-time highs after a jobs report missed expectations. A strong dollar typically makes commodities priced in the currency less attractive to investors. Prices earlier swung between gains and losses as the ongoing dispute among OPEC+ members has threatened a global supply deficit.\n“People are just wildly uncertain” what the OPEC+ stalemate means for the future of output, said Edward Moya, senior market analyst at Oanda Corp. “August is in question and the demand warrants more production.”\nOil prices have soared more than 50% so far this year with consumption returning and the previous OPEC+ production deal keeping a lid on output. But investors remain uncertain about both the future of the OPEC+ supply agreement as well as the demand recovery with the delta variant of Covid-19 continuing to plague reopening efforts.\nJPMorgan Chase & Co. is among banks that anticipates a deal will be found. OPEC+ is expected to eventually agree in the coming weeks to increase production by 400,000 barrels a day each month for the rest of 2021, it said in a note.\nAt the same time, the disagreement between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates could invite producers to pump unilaterally, risking a free-for-all that could crash prices. on Nasdaq, a 1.92-to-1 ratio favored decliners.\nThe S&P 500 posted 71 new 52-week highs and no new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 84 new highs and 121 new lows.\nVolume on U.S. exchanges was 10.04 billion shares, compared with the 10.7 billion average for the full session over the last 20 trading days.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":320,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":179573964,"gmtCreate":1626568345058,"gmtModify":1703761733801,"author":{"id":"3586524355279010","authorId":"3586524355279010","name":"kweiji","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/02182d83ef3facbb2e9107198ff40282","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586524355279010","authorIdStr":"3586524355279010"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Agree","listText":"Agree","text":"Agree","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/179573964","repostId":"2152899486","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2152899486","pubTimestamp":1626530220,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2152899486?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-17 21:57","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Moves You'll Sorely Regret in a Stock Market Crash","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2152899486","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"A market downturn could happen when you least expect it.
Does that mean that from now on, shares will only be worth 40? Not at all. But if you scoop them up at $40 apiece, you'll set yourself up to profit big time when their values creeps back up to $50 or beyond.
\n
Knowing how to navigate a stock market crash could prevent you from making poor decisions that hurt you financially. HSBC’s prior target was $54.\nNio said earlier in July that it delivered a record 8,083 vehicles in June, bringing its total for the second quarter to 21,896.
\n
The new Behind the Attraction show on Disney+ is smart. It gives the bellwether media stock promotional material that it can push out as content for the fast-growing service. We are adding debt like we've never seen,\" the former Prudent Bear Fund manager told \"Trading Nation\" on Friday. \"We have the Treasury market acting very strange withratesfalling dramatically.\"\nTice, who's known for making bearish bets during bull markets, now advises theAdvisorShares Ranger Equity Bear ETF, which has $70 million in assets under management. The fund is up 3% over the past month, but it's off 62% over the last two years.\nHe acknowledges it's tough to time the next major pullback, and he's often early. However, Tice is convinced amarket meltdown is unavoidable.\n\"We're not out of the woods yet, and this is a dangerous market,\" Tice reiterated.\nHe's encouraging investorsto weigh the risks: Try to earn 3% to 5% near-term gains while contending with the threat of a 40% pullback? Tice thinks it's a bet not worth taking.\nTice is particularly worried aboutBig Techand the FAANG stocks, which includeFacebook,Apple,Amazon,NetflixandAlphabet, formerly known as Google.\n\"A lot of money has been thrown at Alphabet andMicrosoft, Apple and Facebook,Twitter, etc.,\" noted Tice. \"Costs are going up in that sector.\"\nBitcoin is 'very dangerous to hold today'\nHe's also urging investors to be vigilant in the cryptocurrency space. Tice, who came into the year as a bitcoin bull, turned bearish onbitcoinwhen it hit all-time highs in March.\n\"We had a bitcoin position when bitcoin was at $10,000,\" Tice said. \"However, when it got to $60,000 we felt like that was long in the tooth... Lately, there's been a lot more uproar from central bankers, Bank for International Settlements [and] the Bank of England have made profound negative statements. I think it's very dangerous to hold today.\"\nDue to his overall bearishness, Tice co-founded hedge fund Morand-Tice Capital Management almost exactly a year ago. It's devoted to metal and mining stocks. Tice, a long-time gold and silver bull, believes it's a once in a decade opportunity for investors.\n\"You look at this lack of discipline in monetary and fiscal markets. Gold is truly the place to be,\" said Tice. \"Over 5,000 years, gold and silver do very well asprotection against fiat money.\"\nGold closed at $1,812.50 an ounce on Friday. It’s down 4% so far this year and up 28% over the past two years. Tice expects the precious metal to rally 10% to $2,000 by December.\n“I would be owning gold, especially gold and silver mining companies. These companies have never been cheaper. Many are at single digit multiples yet have potentially 15 to 20% growth rate in earnings even with this flat gold price,” Tice said. “But then you add on what we think is going to be a 20% annual increase in the gold price, and these companies are going to be outstanding opportunities.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":276,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
