In a move that has been widely anticipated, the US central bank is raising short-term interest rates by 25 basis points. Six more hikes are expected in 2022.

I explained yesterday that the bullish reaction to the rate bump can be counterintuitive. Finally, monetary policy will begin to tighten, and investors can slowly start to worry about something other than rampant inflation.

This is very much what happened in early November of last year. When the Fed announced the start of the tapering process (that is, the winding down of the Bank’s bond purchase program), the Nasdaq immediately rallied — although enthusiasm lasted barely two months.

Therefore, yes, I believe that the macroeconomics events of the week were a positive for Apple stock. If “left alone” (i.e., absent market-level shocks and concerns), I think that AAPL share price will tend to rise due to the company’s strong fundamentals and execution.

Has AAPL bottomed?

While I think that Apple stock will be worth much more several years down the road, the harder question to answer is whether shares have seen the worst of 2022.

Any realistic analyst or investor must leave the door open for further share price weakness. I still think it is a bit too early to say, with much conviction, that the early-year selloff in the markets has completely run its course.

But here’s one thing that I can do: look at the historical data to understand what could happen next. Barron’s has done some of the work for us.

According to the publication, citing Dow Jones Market Data in an email that landed in my inbox last evening:

“The start of a Fed tightening is not necessarily bad for stocks. There have been five rate-raising cycles since 1990, and the major stock indexes endedhighera year after the first rate increase 80% of the time.”

In isolation, this figure is not particularly impressive, since the S&P 500 has produced positive returns for the year 80% of the time in the past 3 decades. But at least, the observation suggests that recent rate hikes have not been any more likely to drag the performance of the stock market.

I then looked at Apple stock itself. Keep in mind that AAPL dropped as much as 17% from its all-time high, with the YTD bottom being reached as recently as March 14.

In the iPhone era, i.e. since 2007, Apple shares dropped at least this much a few times: certainly during the Great Recession of 2008, but also in 2013-2014, 2017-2018, and during the more recent COVID-19 bear market.

Whenever a 17%-plus selloff happened, Apple managed to produce outstanding average returns of 56% one year later! While, in rare instances, share price continued to decline after the 17% drawdown, the stock was in positive territory a year later 92% of the time.

Check out the histogram below, which shows the distribution of one-year forward returns after Apple stock dipped 17% of more from a peak, since 2007:

Figure 2: AAPL: 1-year return after 17%+ selloff.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Apple Stock: Bright Green Light to Buy, Key Analyst Says
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nApple Stock: Bright Green Light to Buy, Key Analyst Says\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-03-19 09:01 GMT+8 TheStreet\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
One analyst thinks that Apple stock may have finally found its 2022 bottom. There have been five rate-raising cycles since 1990, and the major stock indexes endedhighera year after the first rate increase 80% of the time.”In isolation, this figure is not particularly impressive, since the S&P 500 has produced positive returns for the year 80% of the time in the past 3 decades. But at least, the observation suggests that recent rate hikes have not been any more likely to drag the performance of the stock market.I then looked at Apple stock itself. Keep in mind that AAPL dropped as much as 17% from its all-time high, with the YTD bottom being reached as recently as March 14.In the iPhone era, i.e. since 2007, Apple shares dropped at least this much a few times: certainly during the Great Recession of 2008, but also in 2013-2014, 2017-2018, and during the more recent COVID-19 bear market.Whenever a 17%-plus selloff happened, Apple managed to produce outstanding average returns of 56% one year later! While, in rare instances, share price continued to decline after the 17% drawdown, the stock was in positive territory a year later 92% of the time.Check out the histogram below, which shows the distribution of one-year forward returns after Apple stock dipped 17% of more from a peak, since 2007:Figure 2: AAPL: 1-year return after 17%+ selloff.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AAPL":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":630,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"9000000000000644","authorId":"9000000000000644","name":"CrystalRose","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/25ded438897391c2e32edc77a343fe21","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"9000000000000644","authorIdStr":"9000000000000644"},"content":"Apple to $200 very soon.. After spending significant parts of the day in losing territory, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 managed to climb as much as 1%. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite outperformed with even bigger gains. One possible reason why investors are getting more upbeat could have to do with the price of oil, which has come down from its recent highs. Crude prices fell another $2 per barrel on Thursday, moving to around $104 per barrel, and oil's broader decline from the $120s has had a big impact on producers like Occidental Petroleum.Yet at least in Occidental's case, the interest that the company continues to see from Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) (BRK.B) CEO Warren Buffett points to at least the possibility that the Omaha-based insurance giant could pick the exploration and production company as its next big elephant acquisition outright.More Occidental shares for BuffettOccidental stock didn't move much on Thursday, picking up about half a percent. Yet investors were still somewhat pleased to see Buffett and Berkshire becoming increasingly interested in the company.Berkshire has a large-enough position in Occidental already that it has to report additional acquisitions to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. That's exactly what Warren Buffett's company did late Wednesday, with its latest ownership filing showing that Berkshire picked up more than 9.55 million shares of the oil company. With that purchase, Berkshire now owns 152.7 million common shares of Occidental. The price that Berkshire got was reasonably favorable, picking up Occidental stock at an average cost of between $55 and $56 per share. All told, Berkshire invested nearly $529 million, boosting its stake in Occidental's common shares to roughly 16.3%.What would it take to go all out?At some point, investors can reasonably wonder whether Buffett could simply decide to make the more aggressive move to purchase the rest of Occidental's stock and take full control of the company outright. Occidental's total market capitalization right now is roughly $54 billion, making the value of the stock Berkshire doesn't already own about $45 billion. However, Berkshire would have to offer a premium to take over the company fully, so it might take $60 billion or more to swallow Occidental whole -- not to mention assuming $35 billion in net debt.It wouldn't be the first time that Berkshire has inched into making a major acquisition. At the time that the Buffett-led conglomerate announced that it would acquire railroad company Burlington Northern Santa Fe in 2009, Berkshire already owned about 22% of its outstanding shares. That acquisition has been highly successful for the insurance company, capitalizing on the rising need for efficient transportation as e-commerce rose in popularity. However, Berkshire also has had substantial stakes in companies for a long time without moving any further. Healthcare-company Davita, finance bellwether American Express, and food industry leader Kraft Heinz are all examples of companies in which Berkshire has sizable stakes of around 20% or more. Berkshire hasn't made a greater overture toward complete ownership in any of those cases.Buffett is a value investor, and there's a lot of apparent value in the oil patch right now. Much depends on where oil prices go, but based on its aggressive moves, Berkshire at least seems to think that neither a possible recession nor any possible end to geopolitical hostilities will make Occidental any less of a good long-term investment.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"OXY":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":463,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9025982424,"gmtCreate":1653612130769,"gmtModify":1676535313845,"author":{"id":"3586752204475642","authorId":"3586752204475642","name":"Kelvink73","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8c719c2e9dfb696800beef6e2afa018a","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586752204475642","authorIdStr":"3586752204475642"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"It's oversold as previously was 300 plus.","listText":"It's oversold as previously was 300 plus.","text":"It's oversold as previously was 300 plus.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9025982424","repostId":"2238908668","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":692,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9936550843,"gmtCreate":1662785791182,"gmtModify":1676537141576,"author":{"id":"3586752204475642","authorId":"3586752204475642","name":"Kelvink73","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8c719c2e9dfb696800beef6e2afa018a","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586752204475642","authorIdStr":"3586752204475642"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Agreed needs government backing to be recognised ","listText":"Agreed needs government backing to be recognised ","text":"Agreed needs government backing to be recognised","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9936550843","repostId":"2266879811","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2266879811","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1662769352,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2266879811?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-09-10 08:22","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Is Crypto Dead After 2022 Market Crash?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2266879811","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"Is crypto dead? Investors want to know as prices struggle to regain their footing after the big crash. This is a loaded question depending on the type of crypto investor you are, however.Crypto will not likely return to its 2021 peak, but that doesn't mean the asset class is doomed. This year’s crypto market crash was the worst in the short history of the asset class. That much is true, simply given how many more people were affected in the wake of it as opposed to previous crypto crashes. But is crypto dead as a result? The answer is a bit loaded. What is certain, though, is that a fundamental change will be occurring in the crypto market for years to come. The past two years have been great for crypto’s exposure to the mainstream. At this point, everybody and their mother has at least heard of Bitcoin (BTC-USD). Last fall, countless guides cropped up in response to this, telling people how to navigate crypto questions from family members over the holidays. Celebrities started flocking to non-fungible tokens (NFTs) through Bored Ape Yacht Club as well.Throughout 2021, the market capitalization of crypto ebbed and flowed. However, investors can see exactly the point when crypto hit the mainstream via Dogecoin‘s (DOGE-USD) bull run early that year. At that point, the global crypto market cap shattered through the $1 trillion mark. It then proceeded to climb north of $2 trillion by the end of 2021, aided by BTC’s $67,000 all-time high, the booming success of play-to-earn blockchain games, the foray of NFTs into mainstream art and the speculative wonders of pupcoins like Doge and Shiba Inu (SHIB-USD).Indeed, crypto seemed like an unstoppable force not too long ago. But there’s a major fault line in the industry which was oft overlooked as the asset class continued to make investors rich. Crypto was simply not made to exist like it did during the 2021 gravy train.Crypto: Made for Transactions, Not GainsWhen Satoshi Nakamoto introduced Bitcoin to the world in 2008, the pseudonymous programmer likely didn’t envision anything like we saw at the height of the crypto bull market. BTC priced in at well over $67,000 apiece and the “hodl” philosophy — buy the dip and never sell — took over. Now, Bitcoin whales collectively own nearly 46% of the coin’s total supply. This is just not what Bitcoin was meant to be, however. Sure, the price of BTC was expected to go up some, but that was originally only expected to be through the growth of its practical use cases. At its core, BTC was designed as a mode of transaction for the unbanked. Bitcoin is an alternative to fiat, allowing users to operate outside of the control of central banks.Of course, Bitcoin’s not the only crypto like this. Although made as a joke, Dogecoin operates to the same exact ends. Privacy coins like Monero (XMR-USD) and Zcash (ZEC-USD) do the same thing as well, with the added goal of making these transactions completely anonymous.Ethereum (ETH-USD), the second-largest currency which saw its own price renaissance last year, operates on a different motive. However, ETH is not hell-bent on gains either. Vitalik Buterin and the seven other Ethereum cofounders launched the project with the intention of making a blockchain with a built-in programming language. This created an ecosystem of decentralized apps (dapps) which could be immutable and better-performing in contrast to the World Wide Web we know today.Projects Continue to Innovate After Market CrashContinuing down the list of top cryptos, investors will notice each project was built with a grand vision in mind — ones that never explicitly involve going up in price. Layer-1 projects like Cardano (ADA-USD), Solana (SOL-USD) and Polkadot (DOT-USD) are competitors to Ethereum, sharing the project’s dapp vision. Meanwhile, Tether (USDT-USD), Binance USD (BUSD-USD) and USD Coin (USDC-USD) can’t gain as stablecoins. The list goes on.So, is crypto dead in the wake of this recent crash? No, not from an innovation perspective. These projects aren’t phased by market volatility, because at the end of the day, they focus on grander visions. The trap investors get caught in when moving from stocks to crypto is believing that crypto developers care about coin prices the same way traditional companies concern themselves with shareholders and stock prices. This isn’t the case. In fact, it’s quite common for projects to forbid talking about price speculation on official channels.Developers haven’t ceased innovating since the crypto crash. Investors are still seeing some massive rollouts and upgrades. Ethereum is on the verge of its biggest upgrade ever and Cardano is soon to follow with its own hard fork. Ripple (XRP-USD) is also working closely with banks on implementing a new worldwide banking communications standard. Is Crypto Dead? To a Certain Demographic, Yes.The question “Is crypto dead?” comes down to simple framing. Are you an investor looking to 10x your investment on some speculative token with no practical use cases? Are you buying an art NFT and banking on some celebrity to pick up their own from the same collection? If so, the answer to the “dead” question is probably yes.The market crash is sending crypto into capitulation and the chances we see something like 2021 happening again are not very high. Put simply, the industry had caught lightning in a jar. Prices were already on the rise, more investors than ever were participating in the market, the pandemic had created extremely favorable macroeconomic conditions and — most importantly — there were no regulations.Nearly every country is regulating crypto now, especially the United States. The U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission is massively clamping down on projects, particularly in the wake of the crash. Moving forward, investigations and legal challenges could hamper even the most innovative projects in the space. There’s not much room, then, for the more speculative plays to crop up and immediately soar like before.Crypto investing isn’t completely dead. But it is certainly much less favorable to those only interested in speculative investing and the potential for massive gains. The recent crash brought an end to yet another speculative asset bubble; first there was the Dotcom bubble, then the housing bubble and now here we are. Obviously, web stocks didn’t disappear entirely, nor did housing. But they haven’t looked anything like they did at their peak hype. Neither will crypto.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"COIN":0.9,"XBTmain":0.9,"BTCmain":0.9,"GBTC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":285,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9056712973,"gmtCreate":1655081927792,"gmtModify":1676535557743,"author":{"id":"3586752204475642","authorId":"3586752204475642","name":"Kelvink73","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8c719c2e9dfb696800beef6e2afa018a","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586752204475642","authorIdStr":"3586752204475642"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Singapore stock usually does not move much.","listText":"Singapore stock usually does not move much.","text":"Singapore stock usually does not move much.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":10,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9056712973","repostId":"1104197473","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1104197473","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1655078823,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1104197473?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-06-13 08:07","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Soft Start Seen For Singapore Stock Market","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1104197473","media":"RTTNews","summary":"The Singapore stock market has moved lower in three straight sessions, sinking almost 50 points or 1","content":"

The Singapore stock market has moved lower in three straight sessions, sinking almost 50 points or 1.6 percent along the way. Since becoming CEO of conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway in 1965, the Oracle of Omaha, as he's come to be known, has created more than $610 billion in value for shareholders and delivered an aggregate return on his company's Class A shares (BRK.A) of 3,641,613%, through Dec. 31, 2021.Even though Buffett isn't infallible, riding his coattails has been a proven recipe to outperform the benchmark S&P 500 for more than a half-century.Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Image source: The Motley Fool.As we push into the second half of what's been an exceptionally volatile and challenging year for investors, several Berkshire Hathaway holdings stand out as amazing values. The following three Warren Buffett stocks can all be confidently bought hand over fist in July.Bank of AmericaThe first Buffett stock that's begging to be bought in July is money-center giant Bank of America.Usually, bank stocks are an industry to avoid when the broader market is mired in a double-digit decline. However, this time is different. It's the first time ever that the U.S.'s central bank has aggressively raised interest rates into a plunging stock market.Under normal circumstances, we'd expect the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates in order to spur lending and support the U.S. economy and stock market. Doing so lowers the net-interest-income-earning potential for bank stocks like BofA. But with the Fed increasing its fed funds target rate by 150 basis points in just the past three meetings, bank stocks are poised to benefit from a significant uptick in net-interest income.Among big-bank stocks, none is more interest-sensitive than Bank of America. In April, when the company reported its first-quarter operating results, BofA noted it would generate an estimated $5.4 billion in added net-interest income with a 100-basis-point parallel shift in the interest rate yield curve. By 2022's end, we could see a 300-basis-point (or higher) jump in the fed funds rate.Bank of America has also benefited from its consistent investments in technology and digitization. Over a three-year stretch, the number of active digital users has grown by 5 million to 42 million. More importantly, 53% of all first-quarter loan sales were completed online or via mobile app, which is up from 30% in the comparable quarter in 2019. Digital sales are considerably cheaper for the company than in-person or phone-based interactions. It's this digital push that's allowed BofA to consolidate some of its branches to lower its noninterest expenses. If you need one more good reason to sink your teeth into Bank of America, take a closer look at its valuation. Whereas most companies are likely to endure a near-term earnings decline, BofA's earnings per share could grow by close to 20% in 2023. With shares trading close to book value and roughly eight times Wall Street's forecast earnings for the upcoming year, Bank of America just might be the best deal in Buffett's entire portfolio.Activision BlizzardA second Warren Buffett stock investors can confidently scoop up in July is gaming giant Activision Blizzard.Like most tech stocks, Activision has a cloud of uncertainty following it. However, it has its own unique set of concerns beyond just historically high inflation, the rising prospect of a domestic recession, and rising interest rates closing off access to historically cheap capital. In Activision's case, it's faced multiple lawsuits covering allegations of discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace. To make matters worse, the company delayed the release of a number of key games expected to drive new users into its ecosystem. First-person shooter game Overwatch 2 and action role-playing game Diablo IV had their respective release dates pushed back to the fourth quarter of 2022 and sometime in 2023.However, these snafus have arguably rolled out the red carpet for opportunistic investors. For instance, the company's litigation should be resolved soon.Activision ended March with 372 million monthly active users (MAUs). Although down from the year-ago period, MAUs tied to its King subsidiary, the home of Candy Crush, have held up particularly well. The upcoming releases of key games in the second half of 2022 and into 2023 should reignite MAU growth in the Activision segment.Even more important is the fact that Microsoft has made a $68.7 billion all-cash offer to acquire Activision Blizzard at $95 a share. Aside from becoming even more influential in the gaming space with this deal, Microsoft plans to use Activision as a launching point to further its metaverse ambitions. The metaverse is the next iteration of the internet, which allows connected users to interact with each other and their surroundings in 3D virtual worlds. Thus far, it doesn't appear that Activision and Microsoft have run into snags with U.S. regulators regarding the deal. This is noteworthy given that Activision Blizzard's stock ended last week below $78 a share. If Microsoft closes this deal in 2022, as anticipated, Activision shareholders could nab a quick 22% arbitrage opportunity. This is precisely why Warren Buffett's company purchased a roughly 9.5% stake in Activision. The Wuling Hong Guang Mini Cabrio EV. Image source: General Motors.General MotorsA third and final Warren Buffett stock to buy hand over fist in July is automaker General Motors. You could say that what can go wrong has gone wrong for the auto industry in 2022. Semiconductor chip shortages and COVID-19 lockdowns in select international markets, such as China, have disrupted supply chains. Historically high inflation on the materials used to make vehicles is eating into auto margins. Yet in spite of these headwinds, GM has the drive to make long-term investors richer. After many years of waiting on the next big organic growth opportunity for auto stocks, it's finally arrived. The electrification of automobiles should result in consumers and businesses changing or upgrading vehicles for decades to come. For its part, General Motors has spared no expense. The company anticipates spending an aggregate of $35 billion through 2025 on electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous vehicles, and batteries. It expects to have two fully dedicated battery plants up and running by the end of next year, with a goal of producing at least 1 million EVs annually in North America by 2025. In total, 30 new EVs are expected to be launched globally by the end of 2025.Initial figures suggest there's a lot of interest in GM's EV products. When GM released its first-quarter operating results on April 26, CEO Mary Barra noted in her letter to shareholders that approximately 140,000 retail reservations for the Chevy Silverado EV had already been placed. The Silverado EV was only introduced by Barra in January 2022.General Motors also has a real shot to become a key player in China's EV market. China is the largest auto market in the world. Aside from the fact that GM has an established presence in China -- it delivered 2.9 million vehicles in both 2020 and 2021 -- it and its joint venture partners already have the best-selling EV in the country, the Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV.With an extensive growth opportunity on its doorstep, General Motors is an incredible deal at only five times Wall Street's forecast earnings for 2022 and 2023.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"ATVI":0.9,"GM":0.9,"BAC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":423,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"9000000000000434","authorId":"9000000000000434","name":"PageDickens","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8e83e48989b3401bb5773e10a7c62208","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"9000000000000434","authorIdStr":"9000000000000434"},"content":"For institutional investors, value investment is more effective. Cohen also owns 9.8% of Bed Bath & Beyond (NASDAQ:BBBY).Cohen recently gained three seats on Bed Bath & Beyond’s board. As a result, he is now fighting a war on two fronts. History tells us that most times, when an aggressor tries to fight two opponents at the same time rather than one, the outcome is generally unfavorable.BBBY reported a fourth-quarter loss of 92 cents versus the analyst estimate of a four-cent profit. BBBY stock is down more than 9% on the news.If Cohen is smart, he’ll stop the war on two fronts and focus on GameStop. If you’re an investor, I would caution against buying either stock. If Cohen’s not careful, he’ll hold the bag for both GameStop and Bed Bath & Beyond. Here’s why.Ryan Cohen Is No Warren BuffettThe idea for my commentary today is not original. Yahoo Finance editor-at-large Brian Sozzi recently reported some of the comments of Loop Capital Markets analyst Anthony Chukumba regarding Ryan Cohen’s large investments in both companies. Here’s what Chukumba had to say about GameStop:“He bought a big stake in GameStop. He became the chairman. He brought in all these executives and board members. The stock went up a ton. But have the fundamentals of the business gotten any better? Any better at all? The answer is no. And by the way, the stock peaked at $483. It’s now down to about $150,” Sozzi reported on April 12.In February, I pointed out that savior Cohen sold Chewy (NYSE:CHWY) long before it proved it could consistently make money. I also said that his claim Chewy would have been successful no matter what products it sold fails to recognize that the pet care industry is one of the most stable in North America. So he hardly picked a tough one.GME stock has rebounded nicely in recent weeks — it’s up 64% over the past month — as the meme stock investors piled back into Cohen’s original turnaround target. In March, GameStop reported decent Q4 2021 sales — up 6.2% over Q4 2020 to $2.25 billion — with an adjusted loss of $1.86 a share, well off the analyst estimate of an 85-cent profit. The company had nothing but good things to say about its strategy to transform GameStop’s business. If nothing else, Cohen is a good promoter.GME Stock + BBBY = Potential BloodbathAs I said in the intro, Bed Bath & Beyond reported a 92-cent loss in the fourth quarter, 96 cents worse than the consensus estimate. BBBY stock jumped 34% on March 7 after Cohen revealed his stake in the retailer. Its share price is now down 18% from its March 7 close. So, Cohen now has two money-losing businesses to turn around. It’s tough enough to achieve success once. But he wants to do it twice. At this point, the smart investor would realize the probabilities of Cohen being successful on both are slim.Chukumba is equally unimpressed by Cohen’s BBBY play:“It’s the same thing with Bed Bath & Beyond. He bought a stake in Bed Bath & Beyond, but he said you can easily take this thing private. No you can’t. He also said the market cap of buybuy BABY is more than the entire market cap of the company. Wrong once again,” Sozzi reported. “Let’s rid ourselves of the notion he is the next Warren Buffett, the emperor has no clothes.”He’s 100% on the mark. The man has done little to alter either business, yet he’s ready to fight a war on two fronts. Unfortunately, this scenario has only one end — a bad one from where I sit.Chewy’s Not Looking So HotBefore ignoring my warning about betting on Cohen, remember that Chewy’s most recent quarterly report was a stinker. The company lost 15 cents a share in Q4 2021, seven cents worse than analyst expectations, while revenues were $2.39 billion, $30-million shy of the consensus. For all of 2021, Chewy finished with a net loss of $73.8 million. It did make money on a non-GAAP adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) basis, but $6.6 million less than a year ago and with an adjusted EBITDA margin of less than 1%.The smart thing Ryan Cohen’s done up to this point in his business career was to sell Chewy when the getting was good. That makes me think of Mark Cuban and the sale of Broadcast.com for $5.7 billion at the height of the dot-com bubble in 1999. Only Cuban took those winnings and built an empire, including the Dallas Mavericks.Cohen’s proven he’s no Warren Buffett or Mark Cuban. For this reason, I wouldn’t buy either.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BBBY":0.9,"GME":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":635,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9015792795,"gmtCreate":1649552882079,"gmtModify":1676534528310,"author":{"id":"3586752204475642","authorId":"3586752204475642","name":"Kelvink73","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8c719c2e9dfb696800beef6e2afa018a","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586752204475642","authorIdStr":"3586752204475642"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$XIAOMI-W(01810)$it's going to recover just wait.","listText":"$XIAOMI-W(01810)$it's going to recover just wait.","text":"$XIAOMI-W(01810)$it's going to recover just wait.","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/72ee7082303e296d7b5c8dc5dc88b6e4","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9015792795","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":676,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9016569972,"gmtCreate":1649207238135,"gmtModify":1676534470460,"author":{"id":"3586752204475642","authorId":"3586752204475642","name":"Kelvink73","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8c719c2e9dfb696800beef6e2afa018a","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586752204475642","authorIdStr":"3586752204475642"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Berkshire Hathaway is Warren's baby.","listText":"Berkshire Hathaway is Warren's baby.","text":"Berkshire Hathaway is Warren's baby.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9016569972","repostId":"2225658408","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2225658408","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1649206833,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2225658408?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-04-06 09:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"2 Buffett Stocks That Are Great Buys in April","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2225658408","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"They're cheap buys that can be excellent recovery stocks to hold right now.","content":"
\n
Stocks that are held within Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio can be a great place for value-oriented investors to look for good buys. The company, owned by Warren Buffett, isn't going to be holding high-risk meme stocks or shares of companies that are going to be incredibly volatile. It can be a great place to start if you're thinking about safe stocks to hold over the long term. Two of the better buys in Berkshire's portfolio today are Bristol-Myers Squibb and American Express. Not only do they have strong fundamentals, but both companies could do well this year (and beyond) as the economy attempts to return to normal.1. Bristol-Myers SquibbBristol-Myers Squibb is the type of stock you can tuck away for years and even decades. It takes up a modest 0.1% of Berkshire's portfolio today, but the company still has hundreds of millions of dollars invested in the top healthcare stock. Over the past four quarters, Bristol-Myers has consistently reported an operating income that has been at least 13% of revenue. A big reason for that is that the business generates incredibly strong gross margins that hover around 80%.With the stock trading at less than 10 times its future earnings, investors aren't paying much of a premium to own a piece of the company -- the average stock in the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund trades at a multiple of more than 16. But that reflects just profitability over the next year. The real value in the stock is over the very long term, as Bristol-Myers continues to develop new products that will help its business expand over the long haul. Most recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the company's new immunotherapy treatment for advanced melanoma. Opdualag will be used with another cancer drug that Bristol-Myers makes, Opdivo. The combined therapy could bring in more than $4 billion in annual revenue for Bristol-Myers by 2029, which could be a decent chunk of the top line for a business that reported $46 billion in sales in 2021.Bristol-Myers could have a strong year in 2022 if there's a return to normal in the economy as patients undergo more screenings and doctors issue more prescriptions. But even if there isn't, the business has been shown to be resilient, generating 9% sales growth last year. In addition to growth potential, the stock also provides investors with a generous dividend yield of 2.9%. That's more than double the average S&P 500 stock, which pays 1.3%.There's no shortage of reasons to buy Bristol-Myers for the long term, and at a cheap price, now may be an excellent time to add the stock to your portfolio.2. American ExpressFinancial services company American Express is a more popular Buffett stock since it takes up 8% of Berkshire's portfolio today. That's more than rivals Visa and Mastercard, which account for less than 1% combined. While all the major credit cards will benefit from a strong economy, American Express may outperform, particularly in the business world, as its cards are popular with corporate travelers. And the signs of a return to normal are evident in the company's most recent earnings report. For 2021, revenue (net of interest expense) soared 30% to $12.1 billion. The company stated there was record card-member spending during the period. Meanwhile, net income rose 20% to $1.7 billion. What's promising is that AmEx projects even more revenue growth ahead, predicting that its sales will grow between 18% and 20% this year.Investors are clearly banking on some better times ahead. Year to date, while the S&P 500 has fallen by 4%, shares of AmEx are up 14% (Bristol-Myers stock has risen at an even higher rate of 19%). The credit card company is trading at a multiple of 19 times its forward earnings. That makes it look incredibly cheap compared to both Visa and Mastercard, where investors are paying more than 30 times the future profits of those two companies. And with a modest 1.1% dividend yield as well (Visa and Mastercard both pay less), there's some added incentive to just buy and hold for the long haul.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"V":0.62,"AXP":0.9,"BRK.A":0.9,"BMY":0.9,"MA":0.9,"BRK.B":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":348,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9038061780,"gmtCreate":1646699255751,"gmtModify":1676534151691,"author":{"id":"3586752204475642","authorId":"3586752204475642","name":"Kelvink73","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8c719c2e9dfb696800beef6e2afa018a","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586752204475642","authorIdStr":"3586752204475642"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Can look for some blue chip stocks and buy cheap.","listText":"Can look for some blue chip stocks and buy cheap.","text":"Can look for some blue chip stocks and buy cheap.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9038061780","repostId":"1156254568","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1156254568","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1646698575,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1156254568?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-03-08 08:16","market":"sg","language":"en","title":"Singapore Stock Market Likely To Extend Losing Streak","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1156254568","media":"RTTNews","summary":"The Singapore stock market has ended lower in consecutive trading days, sinking more than 65 points ","content":"

The Singapore stock market has ended lower in consecutive trading days, sinking more than 65 points or 2.1 percent along the way.
