Wow. What a dramatic turnaround last night. The inflation number was still above the projection. I suspect it's due to being priced in already. Retail traders sold their stocks upon receiving the abysmal number and the smart money started buying when regular trading hours started. So what will happen today? Big banks will be reporting before 930pm Singapore time later. I feel that if their earnings report is weak, I would say we are in for a sell off tonight. And based on last night's rally it will just result in a pump and dump. All boils down to the banks earnings later. Let's hope it will be optimistic

how i feel about amazon

I own Amazon and feel they should be focusing on bottom line. $120B in revenue but only $2B in profit. that sounds like its more worse than Walmart. Compared with Msft’s $50B rev and $17B profit. Ever wonder why Amzn fresh is not taking off? Very high prices. Costco is packed with shoppers while next door at Amzn fresh is empty. Shoppers want lower prices, not some $4/pound organic tomatoes or potatoes. Making the store like tech savvy will not allure shoppers if prices are high- how difficult to understand??? High time all techs including Amzn follow the suit of layoff. I strongly believe techs can do with 50% less staff. Too many workers at home are living on fat checks with no productivity. It’s time to let them go and cut costs at all levels

I would say apple. Apple is a renowned hardware company. They have invented great  devices such as the iPod and iPhone under innovator and disruptor Steve Jobs. Even after the demise of Jobs, apple still has a superior design team at Cupertino. So definitely they will be able to come up with a better headset tha meta which in my opinion is more of a software company rather than hardware.

I just feel that Tiger could offer more coins for the daily rewards so that it will be easier for us userto redeem for stock vouchers. Also hope that Tiger could bring back the sending of coins to authors of meaningful posts. Also hope that Tiger could have more items for users to redeem gifts. Physical premiums like t-shirts, pens, caps , calculators, wireless keyboards and others could be offered for redemption, not just stock vouchers. Lastly also hope that Tiger could improvise on the Tiger membership program. It is super tough to promote to the next level. I have been stuck on level 5 for what it seems to me like forever.

is this just a bear market rally or is the bull back?

last night's market's performance was superior. haven't seen nasdaq up more than 7% in a super long time. all because CPI print is 7.7. yes its good that the CPI is going down but isnt the target 2%? i guess markets are optimistic that last night's 7.7 print is an indicator that CPI is on its way to 2%. i would say its a temporary relief rally that will top out in a few more trading sessions? why? because even though CPI is now 7.7, 7.7 is still a high number. just my $0.02. congrats to everyone who were long before market opened last night.

Have we reached the bottom yet? Honestly I don't think so. Just hoping that Jerome Powell eases on the rate hikes first. That will be one of the positive signs. Presently other currencies against the us dollar are crashing and that is not a good thing at all. Especially the euro and the British pound. Seems like that can also be an indicator for brighter or gloomier times ahead. If the pound and/or euro does strengthen against the us dollar then it can be an indication that rosier times are back. Hope that everyone's portfolio is still manageably okay. Good luck to all.

Good evening to one and all. Last's night market performance was superior.  This has not happened in so very long. Bulls rejoice. What makes me even happier is futures are also green at the moment signalling to a green open ina few hours. Sadly fundamentals remain the same. Only when the fed stops hiking. Waiting for that moment. That is when I feel that the bull market is back. Last night could be just a bear market rally. Let's see how this week closes. Good luck to all market players out there

Another 75 basis points rate hike imminent One is expected on Wednesday and as people have been saying a 75 basis points hike has been priced already. What I have seen during past rate hikes though even though the hike has been priced in already equity markets came down after the rate was officially announced even though it's the exact same number as previously predicted. I believe this upcoming one will be no different

My wish is to own Adobe. Price is a little high now but I sincerely hope to start adding to my portfolio when prices are below 300. Also wish to start adding asml but that too also seems overvalued. Solid companies and fundamentals just prices are little overvalued now. Will start to buy when prices are lower

Everyone, myself especially is anticipating any kind of Santa Claus rally. Sadly the true santa will be Jerome Powell. Not a bearded gentleman from the north pole. If he is dovish during the press conference after the rate hike announcement then I will say it will be a merry Christmas indeed for all investors near and far. Merry Christmas to all investors and staff of Tiger brokers. Merry Christmas and a happy 2023

Last night's us trading session made me smile from ear to ear. Since 4am earlier I have just been wondering. Will this rally last for days or weeks. Or is the worst over and markets are bullish again since the stock market is based on future valuations. What was the reason for last night's rally. There wasn't any big data released. But I noticed currencies against the us dollar was appreciating. Been watching the pound sterling and it's still above the 1.1 level which is a good thing. Let's see if the us markets close in the green tonight. Be it a bear market rally or a full fledged rally, I would take any kind of rally, really. Way better than seeing red all over. Happy investing everyone

trading or investing google. whats the difference

As far as Google is concerned, there is definitely a difference between day traders and investors. day traders buy the stock, but investors buy the company or the business. Day traders causes scary stock price movements whilst investors remain calm looking ahead many years into the future. Day traders are subject to panic and euphoria depending on the fluctuations in the stock while investors are subject to data on the company's fundamentals and future prospects. Day traders see the stock market as gambling in a casino, but investors buy the casino itself. personally i feel that google will make a much better investment rather than a trading play

Nvidia failed to hold on to gains last night

was watching the price action for nvidia last night like a hawk awaiting for its prey. during premarket, noticed that nvda was up around 2 percent. but as the time drifted closer to market open these gains evaporated and worse still, became losses. "easy come easy go" was what went through my mind so market closed with nvda down over 1 percent while the broader nasdaq was down a fraction of that. i guess the market just feels that the recently released earnings report are just not up to par. right now i'll just be looking at how nvidia closes for the week, which from the looks of it will be a red candle. if it does close above the 163.27 level then that will be a good sign and maybe further upside next week. lets see.  dug deeper into the internet and found out that Nvidia provid

rally into second day

i was kind of expecting the rally to continue last night. but if you zoom in on the intraday price action, you will notice that markets were rather choppy and moving sideways as compared to the session on thursday night then trended up a couple of hours before the markets closed for regular hours. i was researching into past CPI drops and based on that next week the markets should close in the red. of course past performance is not an indicator of the future but there are such a thing as chart patterns as far as technical analysis is concerned. lets see if a red candle appears on the weekly chart next friday after market close.

Sell off on the eve of cpi data release

seems like the usual agenda these days. on the eve of cpi data release the markets go into a selloff mode. seems like investors and traders alike are expecting cpi data to be bearish for the markets when its released later tonight. i personally feel the same but my almost silent inner voice is saying otherwise. guess we will only know the true data when it's released later at 930pm singapore time

Tom lee has been wrong for the longest time

Tom has been wrong this year whenever he was on the TV. People who wish for a stop in the raising of interest rates will be very disappointed given this stagflation rate of 8%+. Massive return of manufacturing jobs from China and shortage of skilled workers in the U.S. will certainly give pressure on rising wages. Food prices such as eggs, and other types of food have risen more than double. To sum up, I believe that the terminal interest rate must be at least 6% to stop the stagflation vs 4.95% as per market participants.

When I checked the us futures market this morning it out a smile on my face. Not a wide one but nevertheless still a smile. Saw green across the board. Question is will this green be able to sustain till later tonight. Will the smart money step in to buy unexpectedly like on Thursday? I certainly hope so. Will check the futures market again before 4pm and later in the night as well for a more accurate assessment. Wish everyone a successful trading week ahead

Seems like we are in a distribution phase for the past few days. Honestly I was expecting a sell off last night as inflation data wasn't too enticing. But instead markets were relatively flat. TSM's earnings report was pretty good so I hope it will refuel a chip stocks rally tonight. Let's wait and see. Hope that everyone's portfolio is doing okay. Happy investing to all fellow investors.

Another big tech selloff. Wow. Was quite stunned at the majestic selloff in Amazon after 4am early this morning.  Due to negative sentiment slight target misses sparked off a sell down of nucleatic proportions. I would say it's a great time to buy if one is an investor and has holding power. Just 2 words. Uncertain times.
