Rowe Price & Associates Funds, General Atlantic, William Miller III, Delta Air Lines and Durable Capital.
\n
Customer/User Acquisition
\n
The firm has focused its direct sales & marketing efforts on U.S. airports, stadiums and major venues.
\n
As of May 31, 2021, it counted 38 airports, 26 sports and entertainment venues and 67 Health Pass-enabled partners and events for 100 unique locations as well as numerous offices, theaters, casinos, theme parks and restaurants.
\n
Sales and Marketing expenses as a percentage of total revenue have fluctuated as revenues have varied, as the figures below indicate:
\n

\n

\n

\n

\n
The Sales and Marketing efficiency rate, defined as how many dollars of additional new revenue are generated by each dollar of Sales and Marketing spend, swung to a negative 2.2x in the most recent reporting period, as shown in the table below:
\n

\n

\n

\n

\n
The firm’s CLEAR Plus member retention rate for 2020 was 78.8%. Management said it expects the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic to affect its airport enrollments and business in 2021 and beyond.
\n
Market & Competition
\n
According to a 2018 marketresearch reportby Fortune Business Insights, the global stadium security market was an estimated $6.2 billion in 2017 and is forecast to reach $16 billion by 2025.
\n
This represents a forecast CAGR of 12.8% from 2018 to 2025.
\n
The main drivers for this expected growth are a rise in terrorist threat scenarios as well as a need to handle large crowds in a safe manner.
\n
Also, stadium and venue owners are seeking advanced security measures as more options become available.
\n
Below is a chart showing the stadium security market historical and forecast growth trajectory:
\n

\n

\n

\n

\n
(Source)
\n
Notably, the software & services segment was expected to grow at the fastest rate through 2025.
\n
Major competitive or other industry participants include:
\n
\n
Telos Identity
\n
Idemia Identity & Security
\n
PricewaterhouseCoopers
\n
Salesforce
\n
IBM
\n
Amazon
\n
Apple
\n
Facebook
\n
Google
\n
\n
Financial Performance
\n
Clear Secure’s recent financial results can be summarized as follows:
\n
\n
Contracting topline revenue in Q1 2021
\n
Reduced gross profit and fluctuating gross margin
\n
Increased operating losses
\n
Uneven cash flow from operations
\n
\n
Below are relevant financial results derived from the firm’s registration statement:
\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n
As of March 31, 2021, Clear Secure had $176 million in cash and $161.8 million in total liabilities.
\n
Free cash flow during the twelve months ended March 31, 2021, was $8.2 million.
\n
IPO Details
\n
Clear Secure intends to raise $376 million in gross proceeds from an IPO of its Class A common stock, offering 13.2 million shares at a proposed midpoint price of $28.50 per share.
\n
Class A and Class C common stockholders will be entitled to receive one vote per share and Class B and Class D shareholders will have 20 votes per share.
\n
The S&P 500 Index no longer admits firms with multiple classes of stock into its index.
\n
No existing shareholders have indicated an interest to purchase shares at the IPO price.
\n
Assuming a successful IPO, the company’s enterprise value at IPO would approximate $3.7 billion, excluding the effects of underwriter over-allotment options.
\n
Excluding effects of underwriter options and private placement shares or restricted stock, if any, the float to outstanding shares ratio will be approximately 8.93%. A figure under 10% is generally considered a ‘low float’ stock which can be subject to significant price volatility.
\n
Management says it will use the net proceeds from the IPO as follows:
\n
\n We intend to contribute the net proceeds from this offering to Alclear in exchange for a number of Alclear Units equal to the contribution amount divided by the price paid by the underwriters for shares of our Class A common stock in this offering (13,200,000 Alclear Units at the midpoint of the estimated public offering price range set forth on the cover page of this prospectus or, if the underwriters exercise their option to purchase additional shares in full, 15,180,000 Alclear Units), and to cause Alclear to use such contributed amount to pay offering expenses and for general corporate purposes. (Source)\n
\n
Management’s presentation of the company roadshow isavailable here.
\n
Listed bookrunners of the IPO are Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Allen & Company, Wells Fargo Securities, LionTree, Stifel, Telsey Advisory Group, Centerview Partners, Loop Capital Markets and Roberts & Ryan.
\n
Valuation Metrics
\n
Below is a table of relevant capitalization and valuation figures for the company:
\n

\n

\n

\n

\n
Commentary
\n
Clear Secure is seeking public investment capital for unspecified future corporate expansion plans.
\n
The company’s financials showed resilience in 2020 but a significant drop in topline revenue in Q1 2021 and continued operating losses with a lack of path to operating breakeven.
\n
Free cash flow for the twelve months ended March 31, 2021, was $8.2 million.
\n
Sales and Marketing expenses as a percentage of total revenue have varied as revenue has fluctuated; its Sales and Marketing efficiency rate swung to a negative 2.2x in the most recent reporting period.
\n
The market opportunity for providing preferred venue and travel access services is significant but has been affected negatively by the COVID-19 pandemic, at least in the short term.
\n
Management responded by developing its Health Pass service during 2020.
\n
Goldman Sachs is the lead left underwriter and IPOs led by the firm over the last 12-month period have generated an average return of 46.6% since their IPO. And if the ratio eclipses that level, it will be at a more-than 15-year high.
\n
Bloomberg
\n
This simple chart tells a great story about fear and greed. Optimism and pessimism.
\n
When people are feeling good, they bet on humans and companies. When people are fearful, they buy the yellow metal, which has been a store of value for thousands of years. It doesn’t do anything, really, other than exist.
\n
Of course it peaked in the late `90s, when the world was bursting with optimism. It wasn’t just the dotcom boom that was happening, but that was also peak “end of history” times. Then the bubble burst. And not long thereafter, the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, happened and led to years of war, causing the ratio to sink for a long time before going into freefall during the Great Financial Crisis. Optimism and pessimism.\nWhen people are feeling good, they bet on humans and companies. When people are fearful, they buy the yellow metal, which has been a store of value for thousands of years. Historically low lending rates, dovish monetary policy, and a free-spending Capitol Hill (at least during the pandemic) have allowed fast-growing companies to thrive.
\n
Typically, it's smaller companies that generate some of the fastest sales growth, while large-cap stocks (those with market caps of at least $10 billion) grow at a more tempered pace. Larger companies are more likely to have time-tested or mature operating models, making it less common that they generate eye-popping revenue growth.
\n
However, the following large-cap stocks didn't get that memo. Each and every one of these companies is on track to, at minimum, quintuple their sales over a four-year period, according to Wall Street's consensus revenue estimate for 2024 (or fiscal 2025). You could rightly say that these are five of the fastest-growing large-cap stocks on the planet.
\n
\n
Sea Limited: Implied four-year sales growth of 400%
\n
Who said companies with market caps in excess of $100 billion can't grow like their smaller competitors? According to analysts, Singapore-based Sea Limited (NYSE:SE) is expected to see its full-year sales skyrocket from $4.39 billion in 2020 to about $21.9 billion in 2024. That works out to a quintupling in full-year revenue in four years.
\n
Sea's secret sauce (say that three times fast) is that it has three rapidly growing operating segments. For the moment, it's being anchored by its digital gaming operations. The company ended March with close to 649 million active users, 12.3% of which were paying to play. That's well above the industry average, and it's notably higher than the 8.9% of quarterly active users who were paying one year ago.
\n
However, the superstar for this company is its e-commerce platform, Shopee. It's the top shopping app downloaded in Southeastern Asia, and it's becoming especially popular in Brazil. In the first quarter of 2021, Shopee saw $12.6 billion in gross merchandise value (GMV) purchased. For some context here, Shopee did $10.3 billion in GMV in all of 2018. Both the coronavirus pandemic and the rise of the middle class throughout Southeastern Asia is driving online purchases.
\n
Lastly, Sea has its rapidly growing digital financial services segment. More than 26 million people were paying for mobile wallet services at the end of March. Since the company targets a number of underbanked emerging markets, this digital financial services segment could be a major long-term growth driver.
\n
\n
Plug Power: Implied four-year sales growth of 404%
\n
Companies focused on renewable energy solutions should be among the fastest growing this decade. Over the next four years investors will struggle to find a green-energy stock expanding quicker than hydrogen fuel-cell solutions provider Plug Power (NASDAQ:PLUG). After delivering $337 million in sales in 2020, Plug has guided for $1.7 billion in full-year revenue for 2024. That's a cool 404% increase, if it comes to fruition.
\n
For the time being, climate change is Plug Power's best friend. Joe Biden winning the presidency last year, coupled with Democrats regaining control of the Senate by the narrowest of margins, gives the current administration an opportunity to pass a clean energy bill. While it's unclear what a final infrastructure bill might look like, it's almost a certainty that clean vehicle solutions, such as those developed by Plug Power, will benefit.
\n
Additionally, the company secured two joint ventures just days apart in January. First, SK Group took a 10% equity stake in the company, with the duo aiming to introduce hydrogen fuel-cell-powered vehicles and hydrogen refilling stations in South Korea. A few days later, Plug landed a deal with French automaker Renault that'll see the two go after Europe's light commercial vehicle market. Both joint ventures should result in Plug Power's orders catapulting higher.
\n
\n
Snowflake: Implied four-year sales growth of 559%
\n
The cloud computing space is home to dozens of fast-growing companies, none of which appear to be increasing its sales faster than cloud data-warehousing company Snowflake (NYSE:SNOW). In fiscal 2021, Snowflake's sales grew by 124% to $592 million. But based on Wall Street's consensus for fiscal 2025, it's on track to generate $3.9 billion in revenue. This would represent a four-year increase of 559%.
\n
What makes Snowflake so special is the company's competitive advantages. For example, it's shunned subscriptions in favor of a pay-as-you-go operating model. Customers pay for the amount of data they store and the number of Snowflake Compute Credits used. This allows the company's clients to keep better tabs on their expenses.
\n
Also, since Snowflake's solutions are built atop the most popular cloud infrastructure platforms, customers can share data seamlessly, even across competing services.
\n
Though it's the fastest-growing cloud stock, Snowflake is also one of the priciest. It's currently valued at 67 times projected sales for fiscal 2022 and roughly 19 times estimated sales four years from now. But if the company makes good on its fiscal 2029 outlook of $10 billion in product sales, paying this premium may be well worth it.
\n
The NIO EC6 EV crossover SUV. Image source: NIO.
\n
NIO: Implied four-year sales growth of 561%
\n
Another absolute beast of a growth trend this decade is the rise of electric vehicles (EV). Though Tesla and the U.S. EV market tend to get a lot of attention, the biggest opportunity is actually China. That's why NIO (NYSE:NIO) finds itself as one of the fastest-growing large-cap stocks on the planet. If all goes well, full-year sales can catapult from about $2.5 billion in 2020 to $16.8 billion in 2024. That's a sales increase of approximately 561%.
\n
Despite a global chip shortage, NIO has shown Wall Street that it can effectively scale its production. After delivering 20,060 vehicles in the first quarter, the company is on pace to deliver between 21,000 and 22,000 EVs in the second quarter. Once global chip supply issues are resolved, NIO will look to boost its annual delivery capacity to around 150,000 EVs.
\n
For NIO, innovation is extremely important. It's been introducing one new vehicle each year, with the sportier EC6 crossover SUV hitting showrooms last summer. It's quickly become a hit with EV buyers.
\n
Additionally, NIO introduced a battery-as-a-service program. For a monthly fee, this subscription service allows buyers to replace or upgrade their vehicle's batteries. It also reduces the initial purchase price of the vehicle. Though NIO is giving up near-term margin by reducing the purchase price of its EVs, it's keeping buyers loyal and generating very high margin residual service revenue.
\n
\n
Novavax: Implied four-year sales growth of 1,118%
\n
The crème de la crème of fast-growing large-cap companies is biotech stock Novavax (NASDAQ:NVAX). Following a pandemic-ravaged year where it brought in $476 million in sales, Wall Street is looking for Novavax to generate $5.8 billion in annual revenue in 2024. That's your run-of-the-mill sales increase of 1,118% over the coming four years.
\n
As you may have rightly guessed, Novavax's core catalyst is a coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine. The company's candidate, NVX-CoV2373 (these scientific names just roll off the tongue), demonstrated nearly 90% efficacy in a large U.K. study, and recently reported a 90.4% trial efficacy in the United States. With efficacy rates this high, Novavax could potentially displace Johnson & Johnson's single-dose vaccine, which offered an efficacy of 72%.
\n
Though you'd think this was a cut-and-dried success story, Novavax has delayed its emergency-use authorization filings in Europe, the U.S., and U.K. until the third quarter, and it likely won't be at full production capacity till the fourth quarter. This waiting game has caused wild vacillations in Novavax's share price of late.
\n
Nevertheless, Novavax has a good chance of being one of the primary COVID-19 vaccines used in emerging markets, and it could become a key player if booster shots become necessary.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
These Are 5 of the Fastest-Growing Large-Cap Stocks on the Planet
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThese Are 5 of the Fastest-Growing Large-Cap Stocks on the Planet\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-28 15:51 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
For more than a decade, growth stocks have been all the rage on Wall Street. This allows the company's clients to keep better tabs on their expenses.\nAlso, since Snowflake's solutions are built atop the most popular cloud infrastructure platforms, customers can share data seamlessly, even across competing services.\nThough it's the fastest-growing cloud stock, Snowflake is also one of the priciest. It's currently valued at 67 times projected sales for fiscal 2022 and roughly 19 times estimated sales four years from now. But if the company makes good on its fiscal 2029 outlook of $10 billion in product sales, paying this premium may be well worth it.\nThe NIO EC6 EV crossover SUV. Image source: NIO.\nNIO: Implied four-year sales growth of 561%\nAnother absolute beast of a growth trend this decade is the rise of electric vehicles (EV). That's a sales increase of approximately 561%.\nDespite a global chip shortage, NIO has shown Wall Street that it can effectively scale its production. After delivering 20,060 vehicles in the first quarter, the company is on pace to deliver between 21,000 and 22,000 EVs in the second quarter. Once global chip supply issues are resolved, NIO will look to boost its annual delivery capacity to around 150,000 EVs.\nFor NIO, innovation is extremely important. It's been introducing one new vehicle each year, with the sportier EC6 crossover SUV hitting showrooms last summer. It's quickly become a hit with EV buyers.\nAdditionally, NIO introduced a battery-as-a-service program. For a monthly fee, this subscription service allows buyers to replace or upgrade their vehicle's batteries. It also reduces the initial purchase price of the vehicle. Though NIO is giving up near-term margin by reducing the purchase price of its EVs, it's keeping buyers loyal and generating very high margin residual service revenue.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nNovavax: Implied four-year sales growth of 1,118%\nThe crème de la crème of fast-growing large-cap companies is biotech stock Novavax (NASDAQ:NVAX). Following a pandemic-ravaged year where it brought in $476 million in sales, Wall Street is looking for Novavax to generate $5.8 billion in annual revenue in 2024. That's your run-of-the-mill sales increase of 1,118% over the coming four years.\nAs you may have rightly guessed, Novavax's core catalyst is a coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine. The company's candidate, NVX-CoV2373 (these scientific names just roll off the tongue), demonstrated nearly 90% efficacy in a large U.K. study, and recently reported a 90.4% trial efficacy in the United States. With efficacy rates this high, Novavax could potentially displace Johnson & Johnson's single-dose vaccine, which offered an efficacy of 72%.\nThough you'd think this was a cut-and-dried success story, Novavax has delayed its emergency-use authorization filings in Europe, the U.S., and U.K. until the third quarter, and it likely won't be at full production capacity till the fourth quarter. This waiting game has caused wild vacillations in Novavax's share price of late.\nNevertheless, Novavax has a good chance of being one of the primary COVID-19 vaccines used in emerging markets, and it could become a key player if booster shots become necessary.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":439,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":150511043,"gmtCreate":1624921201682,"gmtModify":1703847760298,"author":{"id":"4087428659434840","authorId":"4087428659434840","name":"Sglim","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cbe6e04495d76539b5df053a19283e32","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087428659434840","authorIdStr":"4087428659434840"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Done","listText":"Done","text":"Done","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/150511043","repostId":"1103992527","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":330,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":150513688,"gmtCreate":1624921156244,"gmtModify":1703847759155,"author":{"id":"4087428659434840","authorId":"4087428659434840","name":"Sglim","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cbe6e04495d76539b5df053a19283e32","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087428659434840","authorIdStr":"4087428659434840"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Done","listText":"Done","text":"Done","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/150513688","repostId":"1103992527","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1103992527","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1624873176,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1103992527?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-28 17:39","market":"us","language":"en","title":"7 Growth Stocks to Buy and Hold for a Golden Retirement","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1103992527","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"These growth stocks to buy will add a ton of value to your retirement portfolio by providing a growi","content":"
These growth stocks to buy will add a ton of value to your retirement portfolio by providing a growing return on investment
\n
The last thing any retiree would want to do is to sit around and fret about their portfolio. The cloud platform has been growing rapidly and has expanded its total addressable market to over $70 billion. Additionally, it plans to spread into other profitable areas apart from its traditional content delivery services. Moreover, NET stock’s 12-month returns are at a staggering 180%.
\n
Earnings in the past year have been nothing short of amazing, with double-digit growth in revenues for the past three quarters. As it looks to expand its product suite into large TAM areas such as cybersecurity and MPLS/SD-WAN, it will continue to post strong sales numbers for the foreseeable future.
\n
Shopify (SHOP)
\n
Shopify is a leading merchant platform that has consistently delivered for its long-term investors. With businesses having to close down during the pandemic, Shopify became a beacon of hope for small merchants starting their online businesses. As a result, its year-over-year revenue growth is dumbfounding 99.6%, which dwarfs its competition. Hence, with a wide moat and the ability to constantly evolve more than justifies SHOP stocks lofty valuation.
\n
2020 was another stellar year for the company, but it looks like it still has multiple chapters to write in its growth story. Its fulfillment center strategy is one of them, giving Amazon(NASDAQ:AMZN) a run for its money. Moreover, its Payments division and international markets are two major catalysts for future growth. The company expects to grow its revenues by $5 billion by 2023 and take a larger bite out of the e-commerce market.
\n
Square (SQ)
\n
Square has turned into a new-age financial services juggernaut. It has posted stellar growth rates, delivering monster quarterly results and outperforming its already high expectations. It continues to expand its distinct ecosystems, which includes its and Seller and Cash App. Both ecosystems exhibit a $160 billion addressable market opportunity collectively. Moreover, SQ stock has generated over 130% returns in the past 12-months.
\n
The Cash App platform has been a key driver of the company’s growth. Its monthly active users have grown by 50% to over 36 million in 2020. Through its Bitcoin(CCC:BTC-USD) functionalities and the impact of the Cash Card, it creates several monetization opportunities. Additionally, the re-opening of the U.S. and the worldwide economy will propel the stock further as more small and medium-sized enterprises regain their footing.
\n
Snap (SNAP)
\n
Social media giant Snap was in a tough spot a couple of years ago, as its user base stagnated considerably. However, it is now back in the game with improvements in monetization, augmented reality and unique content. Analysts point towards multiple years of double-digit revenue growth ahead, and its high long-term margin structure makes SNAP stock a highly attractive investment.
\n
Daily Active Users (DAUs) for the company increased on a year-over-year basisin each of the four quarters last year. The trend continued in the first quarter, where its DAUs grew by a healthy 22%. Moreover, revenues in the quarter were up 66% year-over-year to $170 million. It has multiple monetization avenues left to explore, including Maps, Spotlight, Stories and others. Hence, with forward revenue estimates of roughly 50%, the company is in pole position to deliver strong returns for the foreseeable future.
\n
Alibaba Group (BABA)
\n
Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has been one of the fastest-growing companies in the past several years. In the past seven years, its business has grown at a spectacular 23.8% CAGR and is still growing at an impressive pace. Year-over-year revenue growth has been at a remarkable 41%, with forward estimates over 35%. Analysts believe that BABA stock could generate over 300% returns in the next five years.
\n
Alibaba has gone a great job of diversifying its income streams from its traditional retail business. Some of these include cloud computing, entertainment, digital media and others. Cloud computing, in particular, is an area where Alibaba will look to invest heavily in the coming years. The high-margin business will help narrow down its losses and open up new opportunities in adjacent areas.
\n
Etsy (ETSY)
\n
Etsy is an online niche marketplace with a wide and sustainable moat. It has witnessed massive growth during the pandemic, as its revenues increased by triple-digit percentages in the past four quarters. Its gross merchandise value (GMV) and revenues increased by roughly 106% and 111%, respectively, in 2020. Moreover, its EBITDA growth on a year-over-year basis is at a stunning 391%. No wonder ETSY stock has surged over 78% in the past 12 months.
\n
With last year’s blow-out performance, investors are worried about whether the company can continue its progress. Etsy is expanding its business through some smart acquisitions. It recently acquired Reverb and Depop to expand its music and fashion recommerce expertise. These acquisitions will also facilitate the company’s global outreach.Etsy posted a 141% year-over-year growth in its first quarter, which suggests that it isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
\n
Roku (ROKU)
\n
Streaming giant Roku has been on a roll in the past year, with its revenues and subscribers fueled by the pandemic. It gained an unbelievable 16.7 million new users during the pandemic and now has 53.6 million users. It is likely to achieve a record 65 million users by the conclusion of this year. With strong user monetization and active user growth, ROKU stock could potentially surge to new heights.
\n
Looking ahead, the company has multiple growth drivers which could push its stock price higher in the future. Its CTV ad segment, in particular, could pay a lot of dividends with the gradual shift from linear to CTV. Moreover, it continues to invest heavily in its content library, with its recent launch of Roku Originals and its acquisition of Saban Films. The Dow's up to the tune of 13% for the past six months, while Apple is barely breaking even for the timeframe.
\n
Its big gains logged in 2020 of course only made Apple stock more vulnerable to the chip shortage as well as the \"big tech\" antitrust crackdown continuing to gel this year. Congress is considering six different pieces of legislation that could crimp Apple's grip on consumers, if not force an outright restructuring of the company. Investors are understandably hesitant.
\n
We're in a scenario, however, where it just might pay to play the role of contrarian. That's the fancy way of saying you should assume everything's about to reverse its present course, boosting Apple at the expense of the Dow as a whole.
\n
Stumbling blocks
\n
Don't misread the message. The brewing regulatory threat to Apple is real; CEO Tim Cook reportedly even called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to stave off the impending legislation. No dice. Intellectually honest investors, of course, had to know this day of reckoning was coming sooner or later.
\n
The computer chip crunch is another headache that's kept buyers at bay. This strength has shocked traders anticipating the usual summer weakness behind the whole \"sell in May and go away\" thing. The momentum is still bullish. Not participating means you're leaving money on the table... even if Apple isn't contributing much to the marketwide rally.
\n
There are two big premises most investors just aren't fully seeing here, however. Together, they just might make you rethink this described dynamic.
\n
Understand this
\n
The first of these two noteworthy premises is the market's typical behavior during the summertime. The momentum is still bullish in defiance of the calendar to be sure. But, bullish strength during the early days of summer doesn't preclude weakness later in the summer that would bring the broad market back to its average year-to-date performance. Indeed, if anything this degree of bullishness thus far sets the stage for an even bigger pullback that puts the market's performance back on course, so to speak.
\n
And for perspective, in the average year the Dow is up 3.6% by late June. This year it's up an incredible 10.9% so far.
\n
The second idea is a bit more complicated.
\n
When investors see (or at least fear) a market correction is in the offing, as a group they don't necessarily dump stocks altogether. There's a subtle -- and sometimes not-so-subtle -- shift into defensive names like utilities or consumer staples. Makes sense. These industries are going to do reasonably well regardless of the environment.
\n
Over the course of the past several years, however, what constitutes a \"safe\" name capable of holding up against the headwind of a marketwide correction has evolved. Consumers may skip a trip to the mall or postpone a vacation. But, Apple's created such a degree of customer loyalty and fandom that it's unlikely current iPhone owners will take a pass on their next opportunity to upgrade their device.
\n
The evidence? Even when the pandemic was raging in September of last year, cellphone reselling platform SellCell found that four out of ten iPhone owners intended to upgrade when the iPhone 12 became available later in the year; BankMyCell suggested the number was closer to half of all iPhone owners. In October, RBC Capital Markets reported a little more than one-third of current iPhone owners were participants in Apple's annual upgrade plan, while another one-fourth said they intended to sign up for the continual upgrade agreement. In a similar and more recent vein, SellCell recently reported survey results indicating Apple's iPhone brand loyalty currently stands at a record-high 92%.
\n
Read between the lines. Apple is a surprisingly defensive play should things turn tough for the overall market.
\n
Keep it in perspective
\n
A marketwide correction wouldn't drive Apple shares upward every single day of any correction, of course. On any given trading day three out of four stocks move in the same direction as the market. Apple shares would most definitely be fighting a headwind.
\n
Think bigger-picture though, and think strategically. Should a little bit of market weakness turn into something more prolonged and investors clamor for companies they can count on in tough times, Apple's antitrust woes won't matter quite as much. Loyalty among iPhone owners will matter a little more. That's just enough edge to snap this stock out of its lull.
\n
And if the overall market continues to buck the calendar and continue marching higher? Well, Apple's future is still more than bright enough to make it a core long-term holding. The company's always found a way to push through challenges on par with the current chip shortage and antitrust campaigns. This recent weakness is a gift from that perspective as well.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Better Buy: Apple or All 30 Dow Jones Stocks?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nBetter Buy: Apple or All 30 Dow Jones Stocks?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-25 21:21 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
It may be the biggest, best, and best-known component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES:^DJI), but shares of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) have conspicuously trailed the blue chip index of late. ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"09086":"华夏纳指-U","AAPL":"苹果","03086":"华夏纳指"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/06/25/better-buy-apple-or-all-30-dow-jones-stocks/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2146071375","content_text":"It may be the biggest, best, and best-known component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES:^DJI), but shares of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) have conspicuously trailed the blue chip index of late. The Dow's up to the tune of 13% for the past six months, while Apple is barely breaking even for the timeframe.\nIts big gains logged in 2020 of course only made Apple stock more vulnerable to the chip shortage as well as the \"big tech\" antitrust crackdown continuing to gel this year. Congress is considering six different pieces of legislation that could crimp Apple's grip on consumers, if not force an outright restructuring of the company. Investors are understandably hesitant.\nWe're in a scenario, however, where it just might pay to play the role of contrarian. That's the fancy way of saying you should assume everything's about to reverse its present course, boosting Apple at the expense of the Dow as a whole.\nStumbling blocks\nDon't misread the message. The brewing regulatory threat to Apple is real; CEO Tim Cook reportedly even called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to stave off the impending legislation. No dice. Intellectually honest investors, of course, had to know this day of reckoning was coming sooner or later.\nThe computer chip crunch is another headache that's kept buyers at bay. Would-be Apple investors are content to remain on the sidelines, waiting for more clarity.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nAt least some of those sidelined would-be Apple buyers are stepping into anything and everything else instead though. The S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) joined the Dow in reaching record highs earlier this month, and the Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC) isn't far behind. This strength has shocked traders anticipating the usual summer weakness behind the whole \"sell in May and go away\" thing. The momentum is still bullish. It had more than 493 million annual active users as of March 31.
\n
Its relationship with Uber is complicated
\n
Comparisons between the world’s top two ride-hailing companies could become more frequent as Didi goes public in the United States.
\n
In its filing, Didi said it has hundreds of millions of riders in China and operates in 16 countries and nearly 4,000 cities. Besides ride hailing, its new services include intra-city freight, community group buying and food delivery.
\n
In its 2020 annual report, San Francisco-based Uber said that as of Dec. 31, 2020, it operated in 71 countries and about 10,000 cities. She will have 1.6% equity in the company after the offering.
\n
The other top stakeholder in Didi besides its top executives, SoftBank and Uber is Tencent Holdings, which will have a 6.4% stake post-IPO.
\n
‘Darkest days’
\n
In summer 2018, two female passengers were killed by drivers on Didi’s Hitch platform. “These shook us to our core,” Cheng and Liu wrote in their founders’ letter under a section they called “Our darkest days.”
\n
They said the company changed how it onboarded drivers and expanded background checks, as well as redesigned its technology with safety in mind. Didi also established what it calls a “SWAT team” to respond to safety incidents. In places where it is allowed, the company has installed video cameras in its ride-hailing vehicles.
\n
The changes led to what the company said was “a massive drop in the number of criminal incidents per million rides on our platform as well as significant declines in the number of in-car disputes and traffic accidents.”
\n
The company says that although the number of incidents have gone down, safety remains a risk factor.
\n
Risk factors
\n
Other big risk factors for the company include the Chinese government’s recently stepped-up antitrust crackdown on tech companies, including Didi. In its filing, Didi said that while it has completed a self-inspection and has tried to correct or improve in certain areas, it can’t be sure the government will be satisfied with that.
\n
The company also said government regulators are concerned about driver income, pricing, and fairness to all platform participants, including riders and drivers. Like its biggest competitors, Didi treats its drivers as independent contractors, not employees. “Our business would be adversely affected if drivers were classified as employees, workers or quasi-employees,” Didi said in its filing.
\n
As for how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected and continues to affect Didi’s business, the company said its core platform’s gross transaction value fell 4.8% in 2020 compared with 2019. Those EVs account for nearly 40% of the electric vehicle miles traveled in China, the company said, citing a study it commissioned. Didi has designed an EV itself, called the D1. It also says it has built China’s largest charging network, with more than 30% market share of total public charging volume in the first quarter of 2021.
\n
As for autonomous vehicles, Didi says it has a team of more than 500 members working on Level 4 AVs for its fleet. The company said self-driving vehicles should help meet what it sees as increasing demand for ride-hailing services.
\n
“The global mobility market is expected to reach $16.4 trillion by 2040, by which time the penetration of shared mobility and electric vehicles is expected to have increased to 23.6% and 29.3%, respectively,” it said in its filing, citing research it commissioned.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Didi spikes 16% on its first day of trading
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nDidi spikes 16% on its first day of trading\n
\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Tiger Newspress
\n
2021-07-01 00:47
\n
\n\n\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
Chinese ride-hailing giant Didi Global Inc.opened at $16.32 each on Wednesday, about 16% higher than the company’s IPO price.
\n

\n
The Chinese ride-hailing behemoth on Wednesday said it sold 316.8 million American depositary shares at $14 each, the top of its $13 to $14 price range. In its filing, Didi said that while it has completed a self-inspection and has tried to correct or improve in certain areas, it can’t be sure the government will be satisfied with that.\nThe company also said government regulators are concerned about driver income, pricing, and fairness to all platform participants, including riders and drivers. Like its biggest competitors, Didi treats its drivers as independent contractors, not employees. “Our business would be adversely affected if drivers were classified as employees, workers or quasi-employees,” Didi said in its filing.\nAs for how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected and continues to affect Didi’s business, the company said its core platform’s gross transaction value fell 4.8% in 2020 compared with 2019. In China, its mobility business’ GTV decreased 6.6% in the same period, while international GTV actually rose 11.4%. Didi cited increasing coronavirus cases in certain parts of the world as continuing risk factors.\nOther businesses\nDidi says it has the world’s largest network of electric vehicles on its platform: 1 million, including hybrids, as of the end of last year. Those EVs account for nearly 40% of the electric vehicle miles traveled in China, the company said, citing a study it commissioned. Didi has designed an EV itself, called the D1. It also says it has built China’s largest charging network, with more than 30% market share of total public charging volume in the first quarter of 2021.\nAs for autonomous vehicles, Didi says it has a team of more than 500 members working on Level 4 AVs for its fleet. The company said self-driving vehicles should help meet what it sees as increasing demand for ride-hailing services.\n“The global mobility market is expected to reach $16.4 trillion by 2040, by which time the penetration of shared mobility and electric vehicles is expected to have increased to 23.6% and 29.3%, respectively,” it said in its filing, citing research it commissioned.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":260,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":150564117,"gmtCreate":1624922194039,"gmtModify":1703847793934,"author":{"id":"4087428659434840","authorId":"4087428659434840","name":"Sglim","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cbe6e04495d76539b5df053a19283e32","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087428659434840","authorIdStr":"4087428659434840"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/150564117","repostId":"1143737614","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1143737614","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1624894513,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1143737614?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-28 23:35","market":"us","language":"en","title":"The S&P 500-to-Gold Ratio Is Nearing Its Highest Level in Over 15 Years","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1143737614","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"The ratio of the S&P 500 to the price of gold is nearing its 2018 peak.
