But Amazon ... and some of last year's winners are taking some of the air out of the market today,\" said Jake Dollarhide, chief executive officer of Longbow Asset Management in Tulsa, Oklahoma. \"This market has been driven by big tech and when tech does well, the market seems to go right along with it, and when it doesn't,\" it falls.\nData on Friday showed U.S. consumer spending rose more than expected in June, although annual inflation accelerated further above the Federal Reserve's 2% target.\nUnofficially, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 146.36 points, or 0.42%, to 34,938.17, the S&P 500 lost 23.58 points, or 0.53%, to 4,395.57 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 101.51 points, or 0.69%, to 14,676.76.\nStrong earnings and the continued rebound in the U.S. economy have helped to support stocks this month, but the rapid spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus and rising inflation have been concerns.\n\"There are still some distant jitters, whispers about the Delta variant, about cases rising, and I think some underlying worries about a slowdown of the reopenings and possible reversal,\" Dollarhide said.\nAlso on the earnings front, Pampers maker Procter & Gamble Co rose as it forecast higher core earnings for this year, and U.S.-listed shares of Canada's Restaurant Brands International Inc jumped after the Burger King owner beat estimates for quarterly profit.\nPinterest Inc, however, plunged after saying U.S. user growth was decelerating as people who used the platform for crafts and DIY projects during the height of the pandemic were stepping out more.\nCaterpillar Inc shares also fell, even though the company posted a rise in second-quarter adjusted profit on the back of a recovery in global economic activity.\nResults on the quarter overall have been much stronger than expected, with about 89% of the reports beating analysts' estimates on earnings, according to IBES data from Refinitiv. Earnings are now expected to have climbed 89.8% in the second quarter versus forecasts of 65.4% at the start of July. Maybe.","content":"
Does the S&P 500's nearly 100% gain from last March's low have you a little worried about a pullback? You're not alone. Even though much of this move was a recovery from the steep sell-off sparked by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, much of it has also just been plain old bullishness ... perhaps a little too much. Stocks are still chugging along, but at times, it feels like the only thing keeping the rally going is its momentum. That's not good.
\n
If you're concerned the market bubble is going to pop soon, feel free to rip a few pages out of my personal playbook. Notice that none of them are particularly complicated moves.
\n
1. I'm scaling out of frothier, more speculative names
\n
I confess, some of the names I've picked up over the course of the past year or so aren't exactly the sorts of stocks I fully intended to hold for the long haul. They were closer to being bets than investments, which can be fun and rewarding but not exactly safe when the market starts to unravel. As the old adage goes, the higher they fly, the farther they fall. That's especially true when a company can't even come close to justifying its stock price with actual fundamentals. Yes, I'm looking at you, AMC Entertainment.
\n
Most investors innately know this is the smart-money move to make when the broad market is closer to a major high than a major low. Some investors, however, just need to hear someone else say it. I just did.
\n
2. I'm prioritizing cash over equities
\n
At first glance, this seems a lot like the aforementioned move -- backing off on my exposure to riskier equities. After all, if I'm selling anything, those proceeds are inherently turned into cash anyway.
\n
To be clear, however, I'm not merely swapping out my more speculative, vulnerable names for more reliable blue chips. I'm reducing my overall exposure to the market by converting a sizable stake of my holdings to cash.
\n
It's not always a fully understood (or even believed) facet of investing, but \"safe\" stocks like consumer goods names and utilities companies aren't actually protection from a correction. Shares of consumer packaged goods giant Procter & Gamble fell nearly 24% between last year's February high and March low when the coronavirus began to spread across the world, including within the U.S. Utility name The Southern Company fell 39% during this timeframe. Both recovered -- and then some -- but neither actually offered any true defense from sweeping weakness.
\n
The point is, during market corrections, there's really no place to hide. You'll just have to let the long-term holdings you're committed to take their lumps on faith they'll bounce back. If you don't have that faith with any particular stock, just replace it with cash until the dust settles.
\n
3. I'm adding (a little) gold
\n
While most stocks are going to be dragged lower by a market-wide correction, not every sort of holding is a stock. There are also bonds and commodities, which still trade independently of equities. That doesn't preclude them from pulling back if and when the stock market does. But if they do peel back, they're doing so independently of the broad market.
\n
I'm not bothering with bonds right now. Interest rates are pointlessly low, and with inflation seemingly on the verge of racing out of control, bonds are little more than a coin toss at this time anyway.
\n
Commodities, however, are a different story. If anything, they've become bigger movers against a rising inflation backdrop and a Federal Reserve that's being increasingly pressured to respond. Should stocks tank, commodities -- already pumped and primed -- may see a swell of demand that drives prices higher. The easiest way to plug into this dynamic is with a simple pick like the SPDR Gold Trust.
\n
4. Mostly, I'm doing nothing
\n
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I'm doing nothing about a possible market correction.
\n
You read that right.
\n
There are two schools of thought behind the decision to do nothing rather than trying to evade the impact of a correction. The first of these is the simple fact that most of my holdings really are long-haul positions I had (and have) every intention of hanging onto through bear markets. One of the greatest upsides of a legitimate buy-and-hold approach is that you don't even have to worry about temporary headwinds.
\n
The other idea at work here is the fact that guessing the market's next near-term reversal is just darn difficult to do ... so much so that most people don't do it very well. Indeed, the effort to time the stock market's peaks and valleys often does more harm than good, by virtue of getting you out too soon or too late, or getting you back in too soon or too late. The market's going to do what the market's going to do in its own time, and it's not going to telegraph what's around the corner to anyone. The best way to win that game is by not playing it at all.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
4 Ways I'm Preparing for the Stock Market Bubble to Burst
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n4 Ways I'm Preparing for the Stock Market Bubble to Burst\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-19 11:00 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Does the S&P 500's nearly 100% gain from last March's low have you a little worried about a pullback? The company also doubled its employee base to 5,000. “We had some real challenges, but it was true grit that enabled us to scale the way we did,” says Moseley.\nNow, as the company looks ahead to a post-pandemic work environment that is largely hybrid, Yuan and Moseley say Zoom is creating the next iteration of communication and collaboration tools that will help companies foster better connectivity even when workers are not all together.\nSmart galleries, AI-enabled meetings and shareable virtual whiteboards are just some of the offerings Moseley says will help enable the “democratization of meetings” that emerged in the midst of the pandemic to continue.\n“From the beginning of Zoom we were asking, ‘how do we make the virtual experience as good, if not better, as in person,’” he says. For example, during an in-person meeting, it’s really not possible for multiple people to use a whiteboard at the same time, he says. Zoom’s iteration of what it’s calling its persistent whiteboard will make it easy to share and collaborate in real-time.\nThe company recently launched virtual receptionists, and is working with financial services customers to launch virtual tellers and virtual wealth managers that will use advanced technologies like AI to recognize nonverbal cues to better engage with customers. “There’s no question that innovation is at the center of everything we’re doing going forward,” he says.\nUnderstanding customer pain points\nThe ability to do all this traces back to the original architecture of the Zoom platform, Moseley adds, and its five core principles. Among them: ease of use, reliability, and innovation.\nUnderstanding customer pain points as companies craft new working arrangements is a key strength, Moseley explains. Zoom has spun up a collection of what it’s calling industry councils — financial services and healthcare are among them, for instance — that keep it in touch with what’s happening in specific sectors of the economy. In turn, Zoom shares with these councils what it’s thinking in terms of new features and functions it wants to add, and asks these councils to prioritize the ones that are most important to them.\nAs Zoom continues to be an essential way for employees to connect, even as they return to the office some of the time, Yuan emphasized the priority that reliability plays in the company. In the early days of the pandemic, Zoom moved a lot of its free services to the cloud in order to free up its data center capacity for enterprise customers. Doing so enables Zoom to provide greater reliability for all the meetings taking place on its platform. “We want to ensure that there is no single point of failure,” he says. “We’re all about protecting the meeting.”\nYuan says Zoom’s ability to scale up the size of its workforce is because it is sourcing talent from all over the globe, not just Silicon Valley. “I can hire engineers from Texas, or any other state or even outside the country, because we allow them to work remotely,” he says. The company’s growing brand equity is also enabling it to attract top talent from leading universities, something it now has in common with Facebook, Google, and Amazon.\nAs work continues to change and adapt in a post-pandemic world, Moseley says one of the most important questions companies can ask is: What is the purpose of having people in the office?\n“When we can get clear on that,” he says, “then companies can make better decisions about hybrid work.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":95,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":802065463,"gmtCreate":1627700120552,"gmtModify":1703494926349,"author":{"id":"4087735328781770","authorId":"4087735328781770","name":"civilmoisseu","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087735328781770","authorIdStr":"4087735328781770"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Up and down is commone","listText":"Up and down is commone","text":"Up and down is commone","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/802065463","repostId":"2155001152","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2155001152","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1627675228,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2155001152?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-31 04:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Wall Street declines with Amazon; S&P 500 posts gains for month","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2155001152","media":"Reuters","summary":"U.S. consumer spending rises in June, inflation increases . The net result was a tick lower in 10-year yields that brought the benchmark to levels not seen since mid-February.
\n
With the next technical target sill 5 bps away, we’ll be watching the interplay between risk assets and US rates as the delta-inspired repricing continues. We’re cognizant that the severity of the recent move has led to stretched momentum measures, implying incremental gains will be more difficult to achieve. This isn’t to suggest the floor for rates is evident at the moment, rather that it should be anticipated that the pace of the rally will slow. There has been plenty of chatter surrounding the possibility 10- year yields dip below 1.0%; an eventuality that would be a short-lived endeavor, but not one that’s off the table.More immediately however, will be gauging the extent to which rising case counts can carry yields even lower from here.
\n
It would be an oversimplification to conclude this move is entirely a function of the economic risks posed by the reinstatement of covid-19 restrictions. In fact, we’ll argue the rally has been exaggerated by the Fed’s most recent efforts to be less dovish.Policymakers are in the pre-meeting radio period of radio silence; which eliminates the potential for any official commentary on the Fed’s take on the renewed pandemic risks. Moreover,it leaves investors operating under the assumption that 1) tapering is still on track, 2) rate hikes as early as next year could come to fruition, and 3) the Fed’s ‘will act if not transitory’ stance on inflation remains value. While these surely still hold true to some extent, the implied commitment may be waning given investors’ response to the recent covid developments.
\n
Headlines this morning conclude ‘markets no longer worried about inflation’; a notion, which is ostensibly consistent with the price action in US rates, misses the mark.10-year breakevens are still at 225 bp and a distance away from the mid-June lows.In addition, rising supply-driven inflation that functions as a tax on consumption as opposed to a reflection of a healthy real economy creates downside risks for the recovery. When combined with concerns that H1 will represent the peak of the rebound, it follows intuitively that the market has moved on to trading the next stage in the cycle – i.e. recalibrating growth expectations in reflecting the new norm; one in which herd immunity will prove elusive and variant risks (delta and others) become an ongoing concern.A quick glance at real yields near -100 bp reinforces the read that this is a growth story, not a collective rethink of reflation.
\n
There is yet another nuance of the price action that merits highlighting. Specifically, the move thus far has questionably been a flattening event as 10s and 30s outperform. The front end of the curve has benefited to a lesser extent as monetary policy expectations have remained in place. This morning however, we’re starting to see the 5-year sector lead the rally. In the event we’re seeing the transition from a longer-term growth story to further pricing out Fed tightening, this could ultimately serve to moderate the gains in 10s and 30s.This isn’t to suggest that less room for the FOMC to eventually normalize policy rates is a compelling reason to sell duration in the face of a resurgence of the pandemic. Instead, confidence that monetary policymakers won’t be so eager to respond to pockets of reflation given the renewed headwinds facing the global recovery
\n
We’ll be tracking this particular evolution in the nature of the bullish repricing if, for no other reason,it will be instrumental in gauging what to anticipate in response to next week’s FOMC meeting and Powell’s press conference.Note that in light of the +8.1% consensus estimate for next week’s release of Q2 real GDP, there is little question that a strong rebound in H1 is priced in and investors have shifted toward trading the next stage in the recovery that contains far greater uncertainties.
\n
If the move in real yields is any indication there is growing angst on the rebound; 10-year real rates reached their lowest level since early January and within striking distance of the cycle low at -112.4 bp.
\n
The decline in reals is made all the more noteworthy given the proximity to Thursday’s $16 bn new issue 10-year TIPS auction. Current valuations demonstrate not only increasing worry on the spread of the delta variant domestically, but perhaps more consequentially, overseas. The net result was a tick lower in 10-year yields that brought the benchmark to levels not seen since mid-February.\nWith the next technical target sill 5 bps away, we’ll be watching the interplay between risk assets and US rates as the delta-inspired repricing continues. We’re cognizant that the severity of the recent move has led to stretched momentum measures, implying incremental gains will be more difficult to achieve. This isn’t to suggest the floor for rates is evident at the moment, rather that it should be anticipated that the pace of the rally will slow. There has been plenty of chatter surrounding the possibility 10- year yields dip below 1.0%; an eventuality that would be a short-lived endeavor, but not one that’s off the table.More immediately however, will be gauging the extent to which rising case counts can carry yields even lower from here.\nIt would be an oversimplification to conclude this move is entirely a function of the economic risks posed by the reinstatement of covid-19 restrictions. While these surely still hold true to some extent, the implied commitment may be waning given investors’ response to the recent covid developments.\nHeadlines this morning conclude ‘markets no longer worried about inflation’; a notion, which is ostensibly consistent with the price action in US rates, misses the mark.10-year breakevens are still at 225 bp and a distance away from the mid-June lows.In addition, rising supply-driven inflation that functions as a tax on consumption as opposed to a reflection of a healthy real economy creates downside risks for the recovery. When combined with concerns that H1 will represent the peak of the rebound, it follows intuitively that the market has moved on to trading the next stage in the cycle – i.e. recalibrating growth expectations in reflecting the new norm; one in which herd immunity will prove elusive and variant risks (delta and others) become an ongoing concern.A quick glance at real yields near -100 bp reinforces the read that this is a growth story, not a collective rethink of reflation.\nThere is yet another nuance of the price action that merits highlighting. Instead, confidence that monetary policymakers won’t be so eager to respond to pockets of reflation given the renewed headwinds facing the global recovery\nWe’ll be tracking this particular evolution in the nature of the bullish repricing if, for no other reason,it will be instrumental in gauging what to anticipate in response to next week’s FOMC meeting and Powell’s press conference.Note that in light of the +8.1% consensus estimate for next week’s release of Q2 real GDP, there is little question that a strong rebound in H1 is priced in and investors have shifted toward trading the next stage in the recovery that contains far greater uncertainties.\nIf the move in real yields is any indication there is growing angst on the rebound; 10-year real rates reached their lowest level since early January and within striking distance of the cycle low at -112.4 bp.\nThe decline in reals is made all the more noteworthy given the proximity to Thursday’s $16 bn new issue 10-year TIPS auction. Current valuations demonstrate not only increasing worry on the spread of the delta variant domestically, but perhaps more consequentially, overseas. Whereas there was once a time when the US rates landscape was solely dictated by the domestic fundamentals, the globalization of the economy and markets now leave Treasury yields a function of the global backdrop. This helps account for the impressive round of bullishness and durability of the bid for USTs even as the data has generally continued to perform well. Mizuho now sees NVIDIA earning as much as $16.12 per share this year and $17.70 next year.\nBe that as it may, and even taking Mizuho's projections at face value, at a projected valuation of nearly 43 times forward earnings and a near-term earnings growth rate of 10%, I think I'm going to have to side with the skeptics on this one.NVIDIA stock looks overpriced, and the investors selling it today ... are making the right call.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":23,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":899243653,"gmtCreate":1628203707872,"gmtModify":1703502925757,"author":{"id":"4087735328781770","authorId":"4087735328781770","name":"civilmoisseu","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087735328781770","authorIdStr":"4087735328781770"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$GoPro(GPRO)$yeah","listText":"$GoPro(GPRO)$yeah","text":"$GoPro(GPRO)$yeah","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fbae3a614041ad04579fed27a1d27ccc","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/899243653","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":394,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":802066537,"gmtCreate":1627700005529,"gmtModify":1703494923267,"author":{"id":"4087735328781770","authorId":"4087735328781770","name":"civilmoisseu","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087735328781770","authorIdStr":"4087735328781770"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$XPeng Inc.(XPEV)$yes","listText":"$XPeng Inc.(XPEV)$yes","text":"$XPeng Inc.(XPEV)$yes","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/761815cda5bbc519031c1315125a00c0","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/802066537","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":129,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":171903116,"gmtCreate":1626700439835,"gmtModify":1703763569257,"author":{"id":"4087735328781770","authorId":"4087735328781770","name":"civilmoisseu","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087735328781770","authorIdStr":"4087735328781770"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hopefully ","listText":"Hopefully ","text":"Hopefully","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/171903116","repostId":"1146536243","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1146536243","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1626683272,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1146536243?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-19 16:27","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Morgan Stanley: This Cycle Will Be \"Hotter But Shorter\" Than Usual","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1146536243","media":"zerohedge","summary":"This cycle is unusual. The cycle of 2003-07 ended with the largest banking and housing crisis since the Great Depression. The cycle of 1992-2000 ended with the bursting of an enormous equity bubble, widespread accounting fraud and unspeakable tragedy. 'Normal' cycles are nice in theory, harder in practice.
\n
Instead, let’s consider why we use the term ‘cycle’ at all. Economies and markets tend to follow cyclical patterns, patterns that tend to show up in market performance. It is those patterns we care about, and if they still apply, they can provide a useful guide in uncertain terrain.
\n
Was last year’s recession preceded by late-cycle conditions such as an inverted yield curve, low volatility, low unemployment, high consumer confidence and narrowing equity market breadth? It was. Did the resulting troughs in equities, credit, yields and yield curves match the usual cadence between market and economic lows? They did. And were the leaders of the ensuing rally the usual early-cycle winners, like small and cyclical stocks, high yield credit and industrial metals? They were.
\n
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, we think that it’s a normal cycle. Or as normal as these things realistically are. If a lot of 'normal' cycle behavior has played out so far, it should continue to do so.
\n
Specifically, this relates to patterns of performance as the market recovers. And as that recovery advances, those patterns should shift. As noted by my colleague Michael Wilson, we think that we are moving to a mid-cycle market, despite being just 16 months removed from the lows of economic activity. We see a number of similarities between current conditions and 1H04, a mid-cycle period that followed a large, reflationary rally. And importantly, despite recent fears about growth, we think that the global recovery will keep pushing on (see The Growth Scare Anniversary, July 11, 2021).
\n
Because one can always find an indicator that fits their particular cycle view, we’ve long been fans of a composite. That’s our ‘cycle model’, which combines ten US metrics across macro, the credit cycle and corporate aggression to gauge where we are in the market cycle. The drug maker also said it's developing a booster specifically targeting delta, which is now thought to be the dominant strain of the virus in the U.S.\nHealth officials and medical experts, on the other hand, continue to say there is no scientific case for COVID-19 boosters right now.\n\"I think people are hesitant to support booster dosing because at least for now it's unnecessary,\" Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, told MarketWatch in an email.\nDr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, on Sunday told CNN on Thursday saying something similar.\nAnd, in an email sent Friday afternoon and viewed by MarketWatch, National Institutes of Health director Dr. Francis Collins told staff that \"Pfizer seems to have gotten way out over their skis here,\" indicating that the company may be getting ahead of itself when it comes to boosters.\nBut if the science evolves and it indicates that boosters are needed, that's going to present a new set of communication challenges for the Biden administration.\n\"It's distracting if people are getting an impression from statements from companies that they need\" to get a booster, said Dr. Lynn Goldman, an epidemiologist and dean of the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University. \"We're still trying to get people to immunize in the first place.\"\nThe vaccination rate in the U.S. has flatlined at 48% . Telling people they need to get a third shot down line could lead to confusion, frustration, or an even more firm \"no\" from the hesitant.\n\"When you have so many Americans that are hesitant to get vaccinated, articulating to them that, 'Hey, the initial vaccines aren't going to be enough forever, and you're going to have to do this on a regular occurrence,' could make them more skeptical of the vaccines and less willing to get vaccinated initially,\" said Chris Meekins, a health policy analyst at Raymond James.\nThe case for boosters is complicated\nMany public-health experts have said they expect booster doses will be necessary as immunity wanes and new variants emerge. However, much of that need is going to be based on when protection begins to diminish and in whom.\nSome experts believe booster shots will only be recommended for certain vulnerable segments of the population, like the elderly or people who are immunocompromised, and not for generally healthy Americans who want to reinforce the level of protection they already have. An influential CDC committee is expected to meet July 22 to discuss whether immunocompromised people need a booster shot.\n\"We believe the likely upcoming spike in cases and deaths may tip the balance\" in favor of boosters, RBC Capital Markets analyst Brian Abrahams told investors this week. \"Should a targeted booster approach be taken, we believe this provides evidence that immunosuppressed individuals and those with co-morbidities should be among the first dosed.\"\nThis discussion is already playing out in other countries.\nA group of French doctors published a letter , outlining who can get a third shot depending on age, health status, and profession. Israel is now offering third doses to the immunocompromised.\nIn the U.S., vaccine makers face a specific set of obstacles. One has to do with ensuring supply at a time when the authorized vaccines developed by Johnson & Johnson $(JNJ)$, Moderna $(MRNA)$, and Pfizer are still bound by the requirements of the Defense Production Act, which can require companies based here to give priority to the U.S. during the public-health emergency.\n\"It looks like the pharmaceutical company is at odds with our federal health officials,\" said Dr. Leana Wen, an emergency room physician, \"when, actually, this is a matter of the pharmaceutical companies wanting to be prepared, wanting to have the boosters available, if and when they're needed.\"\nModerna is studying booster doses, too. It announced a new deal in June with the U.S. for 200 million doses, \"which could be used for primary vaccination, including of children, or possibly as a booster if that becomes necessary to continue to defeat the pandemic,\" Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel said in a news release. The company has signed agreements that could include booster shots with Argentina, Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Switzerland.\nPfizer has not announced any deals that include boosters with the U.S.\n\"I think the company believes that it can garner public opinion to support a booster over people's fear of the most recent delta variant and are capitalizing on that opportunity to try to force the government in the direction they want it to go,\" Meekins said.\nHow long does immunity from vaccines last?\nIn a nutshell: We don't know. There are a still a number of unanswered questions about the \"durability\" of immunity.\nThese include: What is the level of neutralizing antibody titers that still provide protection? Will T-cell response provide immunity if antibodies wane? When will we have a test that assesses antibody levels? When will the FDA establish a \"correlate\" of protection? Will only the most vulnerable people need a boost?\nTo further complicate things, this is the first time we've had a vaccine for a coronavirus and the first time that mRNA shots have ever been deployed. Those factors create additional unknowns. And so without answers to some or all of these questions, we are largely stuck guessing.\n\"We basically are operating, in my view, in a fact-free zone,\" Goldman said. \"I don't think it at all irrational to get a EUA for boosters right now. I see the rationale. How we talk about it is a different issue.\"\nPfizer recently said that immunity provided by its COVID-19 vaccine can wane six to 12 months after full vaccination; other officials believe the length of immunity is close to the tail end of that estimate, including the FDA's Dr. Peter Marks, who suggested in May that it's closer to at least one year of protection.\n\"It's very unlikely that immunity is just going to fall off a cliff at some point,\" Wen said. \"More likely, you're going to see a gradual waning over time...And so I think that is part of the difficulty in translating these complicated messages to sound bites for the general public.\"\nSee now:WHO head slams countries for ordering millions of COVID booster shots, when much of the world has not even vaccinated the most vulnerable","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":33,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":173380242,"gmtCreate":1626616707286,"gmtModify":1703762357331,"author":{"id":"4087735328781770","authorId":"4087735328781770","name":"civilmoisseu","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087735328781770","authorIdStr":"4087735328781770"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good news ","listText":"Good news ","text":"Good news","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/173380242","repostId":"1183956332","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1183956332","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1626568120,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1183956332?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-18 08:28","market":"us","language":"en","title":"US IPO Week Ahead: Software, soft drinks, specialty insurance, and more debut in a 17 IPO week","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1183956332","media":"renaissancecap...","summary":"The IPO market’s breakneck pace is expected to continue in the week ahead, with a whopping 17 IPOs slated to raise $4.7 billion. The largest deal of the week, specialty insurance brokerage Ryan Specialty Group plans to raise $1.3 billion at a $6.1 billion market cap.
