West Texas Crude Oil for August deliveryCLQ1was trading above $76 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange early on July 6. But the bank still thinks there are opportunities for investors to hunt.\n“We maintain a cautious view over the next several months, especially since investors might encounter four different catalysts (tapering discussion, inflation, margin pressures and taxation) that could coalesce around the same time,” Citigroup chief U.S. equity strategist Tobias Levkovich told clients. “Sentiment remains ebullient, valuation is not attractive and the Street already expects strong profit trends.”\nOverall, Citi continues to like the value rotation, but said there could be a turning point in the second half.\n“Higher inflation expectations alongside better economic prospects clearly benefit cyclicals and rising bond yields favor Financials,” Levkovich said.\nCiti’s analysts have a running stock focus list that highlights the firm’s analysts’ highest conviction near-term alpha opportunities. Citi analysts pick nonconsensus stocks with catalyst driven upside.\nTake a look at the list here.\n\nCosmetic company Coty is a top pick in the home and personal care category for Citigroup. The Wall Street firm said it likes what it has seen in the company’s transformation efforts.\n“We have strong confidence in management’s ability to lead the company to consistent profitable growth,” Citi analyst Wendy Nicholson told clients.\nAmong financial stocks, Citigroup singled out State Street. While banks clearly benefit from a steeper yield curve, “it does take a while for the repricing benefit to flow thru so we tend to gravitate to those banks that will be bigger beneficiaries to a higher 10-year,” analyst Keith Horowitz told clients.\nHorowitz said it likes trust banks like State Street, even after a 15% gain so far this year.\nCitigroup called health-care giant Cigna “undervalued,” setting the stock up for success in the second half.\nCigna’s “suite of services, cash flow profile ($50B between 2021-2025), and execution should support its 10%-13% growth target,” Citi analyst Ralph Giacobbe told clients. “Near-term we continue to see room for upside as cost trends remain manageable.”\nCiti also recommends taking advantage of the e-commerce boom by buying into industrial giant Prologis.\nThe warehouse operator “should benefit from continued demand and growth within the logistics and distribution space driven by ecommerce expansion as well as supply chain transformation across industries,” Citi analyst Emmanuel Korchman told clients.\nGeneral Motors is another top pick for the latter half of 2021, according to Citi. After being one of Reddit's top targets last week, a new rally could be in the works.
\n
About Clover Health
\n
The Franklin, Tennessee-based company Clover Health Investment, an American Medicare advantage insurer, uses data analytics to offer more affordable health plans within a network of fixed doctors and hospitals. Founded in 2014, it has 458 employees and a current market value of $5.5 billion.
\n
The company went public via SPAC through a merger with an acquisition company in a deal that valued Clover at nearly $4 billion plus the inclusion of $1.2 billion in cash received.
\n
Figure 1: Clover Health, the \"King of SPACs\".
\n
From “King of SPACs” to meme
\n
Known as the “king of SPAC's,” Clover saw its stock price plummet earlier this year. The likely culprit: research firm Hindenburg shorted the stock, claiming that the company was a target of investigation due to its business model and sales practices.
\n
After Hindenburg's bet, CLOV share price plunged 50% year-to-date by the end of May. At that point, the stock caught the attention of Wall Street Bets “apes” and became a new target of meme mania. Since early June, stocks have risen 190% and then fallen around 50% after peaking.
\n
Figure 2: CLOV stock chart.
\n
A Russell 2000 listed company?
\n
Just ahead of the share price spike, news about the addition of CLOV to the Russell 2000 index in Junedrewattention on the Reddit forum. This could have served as a key catalyst for Clover Health stock. However, index inclusion has not been confirmed, and remained purely speculative.
\n
The speculation was probably sparked by the annual reconstitution of the Russell 2000 index in June. A rebalancing to reflect changes in the US equities market can move company or sector prices in the short term, also leading to considerable volatility.
\n
What to expect now
\n
The discussions on Reddit about a potential CLOV share price rally seem to be centered around a possible new short squeeze, and much less based on business fundamentals. In fact, the performance of the stock has been consistent with the volume of comments on Reddit – see below.
\n
Figure 3: CLOV - WallStreetBets ticker sentiment.
\n
From a fundamentalist point of view, Clover still has some work to do. After being one of Reddit's top targets last week, a new rally could be in the works.\nAbout Clover Health\nThe Franklin, Tennessee-based company Clover Health Investment, an American Medicare advantage insurer, uses data analytics to offer more affordable health plans within a network of fixed doctors and hospitals. Founded in 2014, it has 458 employees and a current market value of $5.5 billion.\nThe company went public via SPAC through a merger with an acquisition company in a deal that valued Clover at nearly $4 billion plus the inclusion of $1.2 billion in cash received.\nFigure 1: Clover Health, the \"King of SPACs\".\nFrom “King of SPACs” to meme\nKnown as the “king of SPAC's,” Clover saw its stock price plummet earlier this year. The likely culprit: research firm Hindenburg shorted the stock, claiming that the company was a target of investigation due to its business model and sales practices.\nAfter Hindenburg's bet, CLOV share price plunged 50% year-to-date by the end of May. At that point, the stock caught the attention of Wall Street Bets “apes” and became a new target of meme mania. Since early June, stocks have risen 190% and then fallen around 50% after peaking.\nFigure 2: CLOV stock chart.\nA Russell 2000 listed company?\nJust ahead of the share price spike, news about the addition of CLOV to the Russell 2000 index in Junedrewattention on the Reddit forum. This could have served as a key catalyst for Clover Health stock. However, index inclusion has not been confirmed, and remained purely speculative.\nThe speculation was probably sparked by the annual reconstitution of the Russell 2000 index in June. A rebalancing to reflect changes in the US equities market can move company or sector prices in the short term, also leading to considerable volatility.\nWhat to expect now\nThe discussions on Reddit about a potential CLOV share price rally seem to be centered around a possible new short squeeze, and much less based on business fundamentals. In fact, the performance of the stock has been consistent with the volume of comments on Reddit – see below.\nFigure 3: CLOV - WallStreetBets ticker sentiment.\nFrom a fundamentalist point of view, Clover still has some work to do. Despite reporting 18% growth in membership and a $200 million increase in revenue in its most recent fiscal quarter, the company reported an EPS miss of two cents against Wall Street’s expected $0.11 loss. It did not help that Clover’s revenue guidance for the next period slightly missed consensus as well.\nAccording to Yahoo Finance, analysts' current average rating on the stock is a hold, with a target price of $9.50 representing 35% downside risk from current prices. However, probably more importantly for a potential “meme attack”, CLOV’s short volume was at a record-high at last check, at 41.4 million shares.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":245,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":140365189,"gmtCreate":1625630730341,"gmtModify":1703745293173,"author":{"id":"4087799869611700","authorId":"4087799869611700","name":"sita","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6bec78348ef3b694b6012409cd33222d","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087799869611700","authorIdStr":"4087799869611700"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/140365189","repostId":"1109918984","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1109918984","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625628447,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1109918984?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-07 11:27","market":"hk","language":"en","title":"Here are Wall Street’s 20 favorite energy stocks as crude oil hits a 6-year high","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1109918984","media":"Market Wacth","summary":"The price of crude oil has recovered to its highest level in six years — way above break-even prices","content":"
The price of crude oil has recovered to its highest level in six years — way above break-even prices for U.S. shale producers. The automaker has a clear path towards its $100 per share price target due to its push into trucks, electric vehicles, and expanding total addressable market.\nCitigroup also likes Valero Energy,Fiserv,Dell Technologies and Vertex Pharmaceuticals for the second half.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":384,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":143236154,"gmtCreate":1625795385578,"gmtModify":1703748684837,"author":{"id":"4087799869611700","authorId":"4087799869611700","name":"sita","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6bec78348ef3b694b6012409cd33222d","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087799869611700","authorIdStr":"4087799869611700"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/143236154","repostId":"1164584412","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1164584412","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625792481,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1164584412?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-09 09:01","market":"hk","language":"en","title":"Melvin Can’t Shake Reddit Attack With 46% Loss in First Half","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1164584412","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Hedge fund is said to have gained about 1% last month\nFounder Plotkin has said he would adjust his s","content":"
\n
Hedge fund is said to have gained about 1% last month
\n
Founder Plotkin has said he would adjust his shorting strategy
\n
\n
Gabe Plotkin’s Melvin Capital Management ended the first half of 2021 down 46% as the hedge fund struggled to bounce back from a vicious attack by Reddit traders on its short positions.
\n
The firm, which plunged 53% in January as its bearish bets on companies includingGameStop Corp.andAMC Entertainment Holdings Inc.were besieged by a retail-driven buying spree, was up about 1% in June, according to people familiar with the matter. However, probably more importantly for a potential “meme attack”, CLOV’s short volume was at a record-high at last check, at 41.4 million shares.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":245,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":143216388,"gmtCreate":1625795711344,"gmtModify":1703748698599,"author":{"id":"4087799869611700","authorId":"4087799869611700","name":"sita","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6bec78348ef3b694b6012409cd33222d","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087799869611700","authorIdStr":"4087799869611700"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/143216388","repostId":"2150326990","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2150326990","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625775332,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2150326990?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-09 04:15","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Levi Strauss forecasts profit above estimates as apparel demand bounces back","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2150326990","media":"Reuters","summary":"July 8 (Reuters) - Levi Strauss & Co forecast fiscal 2021 profit above market estimates on Thursday ","content":"
July 8 (Reuters) - Levi Strauss & Co forecast fiscal 2021 profit above market estimates on Thursday as the apparel maker benefits from higher demand for its jeans, tops, and jackets from customers returning to their normal routines following COVID-19 vaccinations.
\n
Shares of the company climbed about 4% in extended trading as it also reported better-than-expected results for the second quarter and increased its quarterly dividend by 2 cents to 8 cents.
\n
Peers including American Eagle and Abercrombie & Fitch all signaled a lift to sales as customers abandon their pajamas and work-at-home lounge wear for outdoor clothes.
\n
\"Revenues in most markets are recovering faster than anticipated,\" Chief Financial Officer Harmit Singh said in a statement.
\n
The company posted record margins for the quarter ended May 30, as it sold more products directly to consumers at full prices.
\n
Levi, known for its Signature and Levi's 501 jeans, has also received a boost from collaborations with luxury brands, including Valentino, and from people refreshing their wardrobes with loose-fit jeans.
\n
The parent of Denizen and Dockers brands forecast full-year adjusted earnings per share between $1.29 and $1.33, above Wall Street expectations of $1.15.
\n
Levi also forecast revenue to grow 28% to 29% in the second half of fiscal 2021 from a year earlier and come in above 2019 pre-pandemic levels.
\n
Net revenue rose to $1.28 billion in the second quarter from $497.5 million a year earlier, beating estimates of $1.21 billion, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.
\n
On an adjusted basis, the company earned 23 cents per share, compared with estimates of 9 cents.
