Though far from perfect -- it's a price-weighted index instead of market cap-weighted -- the Dow Jones is comprised of 30 time-tested and successful multinational companies that have helped lead it higher.
\n
Given the long-tenured success of its components, we shouldn't be surprised to see billionaire money managers putting their money to work in Dow components. In particular, billionaires can't stop buying the following four Dow stocks, based on Form 13F filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission for the first quarter.
\n
\n
Microsoft
\n
Last week, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) entered a very exclusive club: It became only the second publicly traded company to surpass a $2 trillion market cap, along with Apple. But its rising valuation hasn't deterred billionaires. Larry Fink's BlackRock, Chase Coleman's Tiger Global Management, and Jeff Yass's Susquehanna International respectively scooped up 3.14 million shares, 1.83 million shares, and 1.81 million shares in the first quarter. For Susquehanna, it more than doubled the company's previous stake.
\n
The fascination with Microsoft boils down to three factors. First, there's a lot of excitement surrounding Old Softy's push into the cloud. Cloud infrastructure service Azure grew sales by 50% in the March-ended quarter, with most of the company's other cloud-based segments (Office commercial, Dynamics, and Windows) increasing their sales by double-digits.
\n
Second, Microsoft's legacy operations are still cash cows. Even though Windows and Office aren't the insane growth stories they once were, Windows remains the dominant operating platform for PCs. These may be slower-growing segments, but the margins remain robust.
\n
Third and finally, Microsoft's large cash pile and abundant cash flow afford it the opportunity to lean on inorganic growth opportunities. Though not all acquisitions will be winners, a few home runs is all it takes for Microsoft to keep up its double-digit growth rate.
\n
\n
Walgreens Boots Alliance
\n
Another Dow stock that has the full attention of billionaire money managers is pharmacy chain Walgreens Boots Alliance (NASDAQ:WBA). The company with the smallest influence within the Dow saw BlackRock buy 6.91 million shares in Q1 2021. Additionally, Ole Andreas Havlorsen's Viking Global added 1.72 million shares, while Jim Simons' Renaissance Technologies added 211,000 shares.
\n
Why Walgreens? The answer is that we're on the cusp of seeing the company's multipoint turnaround plan take shape. Management expects more than $2 billion in annual cost savings by fiscal 2022, but has also been aggressively reinvesting in digitization efforts. A beefed up online presence has an opportunity to really jump-start Walgreens' top-line growth.
\n
Perhaps more exciting is Walgreens partnering up with VillageMD. The duo aims to open up to 700 full-service clinics throughout the United States. Whereas most health clinics inside pharmacy chains can't handle more than a vaccine or sniffle, Walgreens' focus on full-service treatment is aimed at drawing in patients with chronic illnesses. Let's not forget that Walgreens' pharmacy is its top-tier margin driver. This partnership should help improve brand loyalty and could funnel more prescriptions to its pharmacies.
\n
Furthermore, Walgreens remains relatively inexpensive. Despite the S&P 500's Shiller price-to-earnings ratio nearing a two-decade high, shares of Walgreens Boots Alliance can be nabbed for a very reasonable 10 times Wall Street's consensus earnings for next year.
\n
\n
IBM
\n
Given its nearly decade-long underperformance, this may come a shock, but IBM (NYSE:IBM) -- yes, IBM -- has been an extremely popular buy among billionaire money managers. BlackRock, Renaissance Technologies, Susquehanna, and Ken Griffin's Citadel Advisors, respectively purchased 2.01 million shares, 1.11 million shares, 147,000 shares, and 198,000 shares during the first quarter.
\n
For years, the issue with IBM was its delayed entrance into cloud computing. Relying on hardware and static software was highly profitable for a long time. But beginning in the early 2010s, it became a drag for Big Blue, leading to a multiyear sales decline. The good news is that, through internal innovation and a series of acquisitions, IBM's growth engine looks to be headed in the right direction, once again.
\n
With a renewed focus on hybrid cloud services, IBM has an opportunity to become a major player in big-data processing. Its hybrid cloud solutions are also particularly useful in a work environment that's become increasingly mobile and remote. During the March-ended quarter, IBM's cloud revenue jumped 21% from the prior-year period, and it accounted for 37% of total sales.
\n
Another factor that tends to get overlooked is IBM has done an excellent job of tapering expenses at its legacy operations to preserve margins and cash flow. Though these are generally stagnant operating segments, margins have been flat or rising. This gives IBM more capital to make acquisitions and pay its juicy 4.5% dividend yield.
\n
\n
Verizon Communications
\n
The final Dow stock billionaire money managers can't stop buying is arguably the least volatile component within the iconic index: Verizon (NYSE:VZ). During the first quarter, Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway gobbled up 12.11 million shares, BlackRock added 6.62 million shares, and Susquehanna almost tripled its stake by purchasing 3.36 million shares.
\n
The reason billionaires are buying likely boils down to two factors. First, Verizon may well be the safest high-yield dividend stock on the planet. The wireless services it provides generates highly predictable cash flow. With minimal volatility and a 4.5% yield, it appears to be a far more attractive place for institutional investors to park their cash than just leaving it under the proverbial mattress.
\n
The other factor here is that Verizon does have two organic growth catalysts working in its favor. The bigger of the two is the ongoing rollout of 5G wireless infrastructure. It's been a decade since wireless download speeds have improved, which means we should see a multiyear tech upgrade cycle for businesses and consumers. Because Verizon generates healthy margins from wireless data consumption, its investments in 5G should pay off handsomely.
\n
Verizon also acquired 5G midband spectrum that'll it be using to grow its in-home broadband offerings. By 2023, the company is aiming for 30 million residential broadband customers.
\n
Verizon will never be the growth stock it once was, but it has one of the safest floors of any publicly traded company.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
4 Dow Stocks Billionaire Money Managers Can't Stop Buying
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n4 Dow Stocks Billionaire Money Managers Can't Stop Buying\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-28 19:29 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
For more than 125 years, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES:^DJI) has been one of the most widely followed stock indexes in the world. Latest data reveals that short interest in Palantir declined by 23.8% in the latest cycle alone. This suggests that a broad swath of market participants isn't buying into the bearish narratives surrounding the company, perceive its stock to be fairly valued and perhaps even anticipate it to rally going forward. This development should come across as an encouraging sign for the company's long-side investors. Let's take a closer look at it all.
\n
The Data
\n
I'd like to start by explaining the term \"short interest\" for the uninitiated. It's essentially the total number of short positions that are open against any given stock. A sharp rise in the metric indicates that traders grew bearish on the concerned company, and actively initiated short positions against it. Conversely, a sharp decline in the metric indicates that traders actively wound up their short positions either perhaps because they anticipate the stock to bottom out and/or rally going forward. So, the short interest is a useful tool to gauge the Street's ever-evolving market sentiment.
\n
In Palantir's case, its short interest at the end of the latest data cycle stood at 52.3 million, sharply down by 23.8% on a sequential basis. Although Palantir's short interest figure isn't at its all-time low yet, the pace of its recent decline, however, is certainly one of the fastest in the company's brief history since its direct listing last year. For the record, Palantir has over 1.8 billion shares outstanding which means that about 2.8% of its entire share total had been shorted. Also, the short interest data is for the cycle spanning from early June to mid-June, and the data wasreleasedon Thursday.
\n

\n
Next, I wanted to confirm if other software application companies also registered a sharp reduction in their short interest figures, or was Palantir an anomaly in its peer group. So, to get a broader perspective on its industry, I pulled the short interest figures for about 100 software application stocks listed in the US. Interestingly, 55% of these stocks registered a net reduction in their short interest figures, of varying magnitudes of course, which points to an industry-wide short unwinding.
\n
(Source: BusinessQuant.com, Wsj.com)
\n
Moreover, the median short interest decline was 1.9%, whereas Palantir's short interest declined by a far more significant 23.8% during the same data cycle. In fact, there were just 6 other stocks in our study group, which saw their short interest decline in excess of 23.8%. This conclusively shows that market participants were far too active with unwinding their short positions in Palantir.
\n
But this leads us to an important question - why are market participants so cautious with shorting Palantir in the first place?
\n
Cautious for Good Reason
\n
As I've explained in my prior articles, Palantir has several initiatives at play which could collectively catapult its growth in 2021-22. These initiatives include itstransitionto a customer-friendly payment model to boost commercial sales, offeringfree trialsto major companies to expand its sales funnel and expanding itssales teamto revamp its outbound marketing function. We won't be discussing the same points again to avoid being repetitive, but the takeaway here is that since Palantir is undertaking several growth initiatives, it makes for a risky short bet for the time being at least.
\n
But don't take my word for it.
\n
The community of professional analysts is realizing Palantir's growth potential and raising their revenue estimates for its current fiscal year. They've raised their FY21 revenue estimates by about 5% so far since mid-January and there's no telling how many of such upward revenue revisions are still in store for the remainder of Palantir's FY21. This bullish uncertainty presents an unfavorable risk-reward ratio for short-side market participants and explains why short interest in Palantir continues to decline.
\n

\n
There's another point to consider here, that nobody seems to be talking about. Palantir has won several COVID-19 tracking-related contracts (such ashere, here, here, hereandhere) over the last 12 - 15 months as government agencies across the globe grappled to control the spread and tried to better manage their resources. With COVID-19 said to be making a fierce comeback with thedelta variant, I contend that Palantir could experience a similar order windfall this year, from proactive government agencies, which could boost the company's government sales along the way.
\n
Lastly, several commenters argue that Palantir's shares are trading at a premium and are due for a sharp correction. Its shares are trading at about 34-times trailing twelve-month sales so it's understandable why many might think that the stock is overvalued. But I believe the problem with this approach is that we're not factoring in industry-wide trading multiples or Palantir's revenue growth rate, compared to its peers.
\n
So, to put things in perspective, I compiled the revenue growth rates and price-to-sales (or P/S) multiples for over 320 software infrastructure and software application stocks that are currently listed on US exchanges. Next, I benchmarked these industry groups based on Palantir's revenue growth rate and its P/S multiple. As it turns out, over 90% of Palantir's peers have a slower revenue growth and/or are trading at higher trading multiples. This suggests that Palantir's higher pace of growth justifies its price premium and that the bearish concerns regarding its valuations, are exaggerated.
\n
(Source: Business Quant.com)
\n
Final Thoughts
\n
I'd like to point to readers that fluctuations in short interest figures don't always impact the underlying stock prices. This data is based on short positions that were open at a prior cut-off date and investors with a long-term time horizon should, at best, use it to corroborate their bull or bear thesis.
\n
Having said that, if the bearish narratives surrounding Palantir held any merit, or posed a legitimate risk to its share price, a broad swath of market participants would've actively shorted the stock to profit off of this near-certain eventuality. Let's take a closer look at it all.\nThe Data\nI'd like to start by explaining the term \"short interest\" for the uninitiated. So, the short interest is a useful tool to gauge the Street's ever-evolving market sentiment.\nIn Palantir's case, its short interest at the end of the latest data cycle stood at 52.3 million, sharply down by 23.8% on a sequential basis. Also, the short interest data is for the cycle spanning from early June to mid-June, and the data wasreleasedon Thursday.\n\nNext, I wanted to confirm if other software application companies also registered a sharp reduction in their short interest figures, or was Palantir an anomaly in its peer group. So, to get a broader perspective on its industry, I pulled the short interest figures for about 100 software application stocks listed in the US. Interestingly, 55% of these stocks registered a net reduction in their short interest figures, of varying magnitudes of course, which points to an industry-wide short unwinding.\n(Source: BusinessQuant.com, Wsj.com)\nMoreover, the median short interest decline was 1.9%, whereas Palantir's short interest declined by a far more significant 23.8% during the same data cycle. In fact, there were just 6 other stocks in our study group, which saw their short interest decline in excess of 23.8%. This conclusively shows that market participants were far too active with unwinding their short positions in Palantir.\nBut this leads us to an important question - why are market participants so cautious with shorting Palantir in the first place?\nCautious for Good Reason\nAs I've explained in my prior articles, Palantir has several initiatives at play which could collectively catapult its growth in 2021-22. These initiatives include itstransitionto a customer-friendly payment model to boost commercial sales, offeringfree trialsto major companies to expand its sales funnel and expanding itssales teamto revamp its outbound marketing function. We won't be discussing the same points again to avoid being repetitive, but the takeaway here is that since Palantir is undertaking several growth initiatives, it makes for a risky short bet for the time being at least.\nBut don't take my word for it.\nThe community of professional analysts is realizing Palantir's growth potential and raising their revenue estimates for its current fiscal year. They've raised their FY21 revenue estimates by about 5% so far since mid-January and there's no telling how many of such upward revenue revisions are still in store for the remainder of Palantir's FY21. This bullish uncertainty presents an unfavorable risk-reward ratio for short-side market participants and explains why short interest in Palantir continues to decline.\n\nThere's another point to consider here, that nobody seems to be talking about. Palantir has won several COVID-19 tracking-related contracts (such ashere, here, here, hereandhere) over the last 12 - 15 months as government agencies across the globe grappled to control the spread and tried to better manage their resources. With COVID-19 said to be making a fierce comeback with thedelta variant, I contend that Palantir could experience a similar order windfall this year, from proactive government agencies, which could boost the company's government sales along the way.\nLastly, several commenters argue that Palantir's shares are trading at a premium and are due for a sharp correction. Its shares are trading at about 34-times trailing twelve-month sales so it's understandable why many might think that the stock is overvalued. But I believe the problem with this approach is that we're not factoring in industry-wide trading multiples or Palantir's revenue growth rate, compared to its peers.\nSo, to put things in perspective, I compiled the revenue growth rates and price-to-sales (or P/S) multiples for over 320 software infrastructure and software application stocks that are currently listed on US exchanges. Next, I benchmarked these industry groups based on Palantir's revenue growth rate and its P/S multiple. As it turns out, over 90% of Palantir's peers have a slower revenue growth and/or are trading at higher trading multiples. This suggests that Palantir's higher pace of growth justifies its price premium and that the bearish concerns regarding its valuations, are exaggerated.\n(Source: Business Quant.com)\nFinal Thoughts\nI'd like to point to readers that fluctuations in short interest figures don't always impact the underlying stock prices. This data is based on short positions that were open at a prior cut-off date and investors with a long-term time horizon should, at best, use it to corroborate their bull or bear thesis.\nHaving said that, if the bearish narratives surrounding Palantir held any merit, or posed a legitimate risk to its share price, a broad swath of market participants would've actively shorted the stock to profit off of this near-certain eventuality. But that didn't happen and its short interest declined instead, that too by a significant amount.\nThis active short unwinding indicates that market participants are uncomfortable in shorting the stock at current levels. This should come across as a reassuring sign for the company's long-side shareholders. The stock seems to be fairly valued and has the potential to rally further. That's a consideration that comes to mind when thinking about GE.
\n
In recent weeks, CEO Larry Culp has been vocal in outlining the company's medium-term earnings and free cash flow (FCF) generation aims, and what he had to say is very positive. In a nutshell, Culp believes $7 billion in FCF is possible by 2023. Culp's plans involve aviation making a strong recovery to 2019 levels of profitability, healthcare continuing to churn out FCF, and restructuring actions at power leading to a solid contribution of $1 billion to $2 billion. Meanwhile, GE Renewable Energy should have a $3 billion offshore wind business by 2023 and support ongoing growth in onshore wind.
\n
\n
If GE hits $7 billion in FCF in 2023, it will trade (based on its current market cap) on 16.3 times its FCF. That would be an excellent valuation for a company with a long-term growth opportunity from servicing its installed base of aircraft engines, gas turbines, and wind turbines.
\n
Pentair and nVent
\n
Continuing the discussion of FCF leads us to electrical products company nVent Electric and residential and commercial water treatment company Pentair. However, investors should not think of these two stocks as merely being value investing options because they both have decent growth prospects.
\n
Data by YCharts
\n
nVent is a manufacturer of electrical enclosures, fastening solutions, and electric thermal management solutions. It's a solid, albeit unexciting, market, but that's the point! nVent's solutions make up a relatively small part of its customers' project expenditures -- suggesting that it goes under the radar when customers focus on cost-cutting measures. That makes it a useful way to play the \"electrification\" of the economy, whether spending on automation, smart grids, data centers, electrifying buildings, or transportation.
\n
Pentair's consumer solutions business (pool equipment and home water treatment) received a boost in 2020 as the stay-at-home measures created a boom in spending on home and garden. There were 100,000 new pools built in North America in 2020. Moreover, given that the pool equipment market is primarily replacement, it's likely that the company has a long-term opportunity to sell into the existing pool base of 5.3 million pools in North America.
\n
Meanwhile, management expects its industrial and flow technologies segment to grow at a low-single-digit rate over the long term. It all adds up to a business growing revenue at a mid-single-digit rate and earnings at a double-digit rate. Management expects $2.5 billion in FCF in the 2022-2025 timeframe. Given that the current market cap is only $10.95 billion, it suggests the company is undervalued.
\n
Univar and Stanley Black & Decker
\n
Univar is the value play, and Stanley Black & Decker is the hidden growth stock. The case for specialty chemicals distributor Univar rests on the idea that management's refocusing on its core activity, specialty chemical distribution, will pay off. Management aims to raise profit margin to a level similar to one of its peers in North America by 2022.
\n
To get to earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margin of 9% by 2022 (the stated aim of its so-called \"S22 Program\"), management plans to streamline the company, cut costs, and invest in digital technologies to improve distribution.
\n
Given that analysts are forecasting $9.4 billion in sales in 2023, Univar could be generating $845 million in EBITDA then. Based on the current enterprise value, or EV (market cap plus net debt) of $6.2 billion, Univar could trade on an EV/EBITDA multiple of just 7.3 times EBITDA in 2023. That would make the stock an excellent value.
\n
\n
Finally, Stanley Black & Decker's growth prospects often fall under the radar. The pandemic boosted its DIY power tools sales, and the housing boom will help its professional tools sales.
\n
Meanwhile, Stanley's leadership in e-commerce helped it win market share during the pandemic. The movement toward electric vehicles should raise the content per vehicle amount for Stanley's fasteners and fittings. Moreover, the company has an exciting growth opportunity to expand in the complementary lawn and garden sector through its option to purchase the remaining share of MTD.
\n
All told, Stanley looks capable of achieving its management's long-term aims of double-digit earnings growth, and trading on 16 times next year's estimated earnings, the stock remains attractive.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
5 Stocks to Buy on a Dip
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n5 Stocks to Buy on a Dip\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-28 22:16 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Market fluctuations create buying opportunities for long-term investors, whether they are adding to an existing position or initiating a new one. That would make the stock an excellent value.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nFinally, Stanley Black & Decker's growth prospects often fall under the radar. The pandemic boosted its DIY power tools sales, and the housing boom will help its professional tools sales.\nMeanwhile, Stanley's leadership in e-commerce helped it win market share during the pandemic. The movement toward electric vehicles should raise the content per vehicle amount for Stanley's fasteners and fittings. Moreover, the company has an exciting growth opportunity to expand in the complementary lawn and garden sector through its option to purchase the remaining share of MTD.\nAll told, Stanley looks capable of achieving its management's long-term aims of double-digit earnings growth, and trading on 16 times next year's estimated earnings, the stock remains attractive.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":84,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":150174303,"gmtCreate":1624891291102,"gmtModify":1703847278294,"author":{"id":"4087807128643440","authorId":"4087807128643440","name":"Yutingable","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087807128643440","authorIdStr":"4087807128643440"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great","listText":"Great","text":"Great","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/150174303","repostId":"1161791117","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1161791117","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1624888175,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1161791117?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-28 21:49","market":"us","language":"en","title":"EV Stocks surged in Monday morning trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1161791117","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"EV Stocks surged in Monday morning trading.Tesla,Nio,Xpeng Motors and Li Auto climbed between 1.8% and 6.4%.","content":"
EV Stocks surged in Monday morning trading.Tesla,Nio,Xpeng Motors and Li Auto climbed between 1.8% and 6.4%.
\n

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Though far from perfect -- it's a price-weighted index instead of market cap-weighted -- the Dow Jones is comprised of 30 time-tested and successful multinational companies that have helped lead it higher.
Though far from perfect -- it's a price-weighted index instead of market cap-weighted -- the Dow Jones is comprised of 30 time-tested and successful multinational companies that have helped lead it higher.\nGiven the long-tenured success of its components, we shouldn't be surprised to see billionaire money managers putting their money to work in Dow components. In particular, billionaires can't stop buying the following four Dow stocks, based on Form 13F filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission for the first quarter.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nMicrosoft\nLast week, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) entered a very exclusive club: It became only the second publicly traded company to surpass a $2 trillion market cap, along with Apple. But its rising valuation hasn't deterred billionaires. Larry Fink's BlackRock, Chase Coleman's Tiger Global Management, and Jeff Yass's Susquehanna International respectively scooped up 3.14 million shares, 1.83 million shares, and 1.81 million shares in the first quarter. For Susquehanna, it more than doubled the company's previous stake.\nThe fascination with Microsoft boils down to three factors. First, there's a lot of excitement surrounding Old Softy's push into the cloud. Cloud infrastructure service Azure grew sales by 50% in the March-ended quarter, with most of the company's other cloud-based segments (Office commercial, Dynamics, and Windows) increasing their sales by double-digits.\nSecond, Microsoft's legacy operations are still cash cows. Even though Windows and Office aren't the insane growth stories they once were, Windows remains the dominant operating platform for PCs. These may be slower-growing segments, but the margins remain robust.\nThird and finally, Microsoft's large cash pile and abundant cash flow afford it the opportunity to lean on inorganic growth opportunities. Though not all acquisitions will be winners, a few home runs is all it takes for Microsoft to keep up its double-digit growth rate.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nWalgreens Boots Alliance\nAnother Dow stock that has the full attention of billionaire money managers is pharmacy chain Walgreens Boots Alliance (NASDAQ:WBA). The company with the smallest influence within the Dow saw BlackRock buy 6.91 million shares in Q1 2021. Additionally, Ole Andreas Havlorsen's Viking Global added 1.72 million shares, while Jim Simons' Renaissance Technologies added 211,000 shares.\nWhy Walgreens? The answer is that we're on the cusp of seeing the company's multipoint turnaround plan take shape. Management expects more than $2 billion in annual cost savings by fiscal 2022, but has also been aggressively reinvesting in digitization efforts. A beefed up online presence has an opportunity to really jump-start Walgreens' top-line growth.\nPerhaps more exciting is Walgreens partnering up with VillageMD. This partnership should help improve brand loyalty and could funnel more prescriptions to its pharmacies.\nFurthermore, Walgreens remains relatively inexpensive. Despite the S&P 500's Shiller price-to-earnings ratio nearing a two-decade high, shares of Walgreens Boots Alliance can be nabbed for a very reasonable 10 times Wall Street's consensus earnings for next year.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nIBM\nGiven its nearly decade-long underperformance, this may come a shock, but IBM (NYSE:IBM) -- yes, IBM -- has been an extremely popular buy among billionaire money managers. BlackRock, Renaissance Technologies, Susquehanna, and Ken Griffin's Citadel Advisors, respectively purchased 2.01 million shares, 1.11 million shares, 147,000 shares, and 198,000 shares during the first quarter.\nFor years, the issue with IBM was its delayed entrance into cloud computing. Relying on hardware and static software was highly profitable for a long time. But beginning in the early 2010s, it became a drag for Big Blue, leading to a multiyear sales decline. The good news is that, through internal innovation and a series of acquisitions, IBM's growth engine looks to be headed in the right direction, once again.\nWith a renewed focus on hybrid cloud services, IBM has an opportunity to become a major player in big-data processing. Its hybrid cloud solutions are also particularly useful in a work environment that's become increasingly mobile and remote. During the March-ended quarter, IBM's cloud revenue jumped 21% from the prior-year period, and it accounted for 37% of total sales.\nAnother factor that tends to get overlooked is IBM has done an excellent job of tapering expenses at its legacy operations to preserve margins and cash flow. Though these are generally stagnant operating segments, margins have been flat or rising. This gives IBM more capital to make acquisitions and pay its juicy 4.5% dividend yield.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nVerizon Communications\nThe final Dow stock billionaire money managers can't stop buying is arguably the least volatile component within the iconic index: Verizon (NYSE:VZ). During the first quarter, Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway gobbled up 12.11 million shares, BlackRock added 6.62 million shares, and Susquehanna almost tripled its stake by purchasing 3.36 million shares.\nThe reason billionaires are buying likely boils down to two factors. First, Verizon may well be the safest high-yield dividend stock on the planet. The wireless services it provides generates highly predictable cash flow. With minimal volatility and a 4.5% yield, it appears to be a far more attractive place for institutional investors to park their cash than just leaving it under the proverbial mattress.\nThe other factor here is that Verizon does have two organic growth catalysts working in its favor. The bigger of the two is the ongoing rollout of 5G wireless infrastructure. It's been a decade since wireless download speeds have improved, which means we should see a multiyear tech upgrade cycle for businesses and consumers. Because Verizon generates healthy margins from wireless data consumption, its investments in 5G should pay off handsomely.\nVerizon also acquired 5G midband spectrum that'll it be using to grow its in-home broadband offerings. By 2023, the company is aiming for 30 million residential broadband customers.\nVerizon will never be the growth stock it once was, but it has one of the safest floors of any publicly traded company.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":276,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":150806743,"gmtCreate":1624891531182,"gmtModify":1703847290115,"author":{"id":"4087807128643440","authorId":"4087807128643440","name":"Yutingable","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087807128643440","authorIdStr":"4087807128643440"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"like","listText":"like","text":"like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/150806743","repostId":"1105982179","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1105982179","pubTimestamp":1624889210,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1105982179?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-28 22:06","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Palantir: The Mass Exodus","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105982179","media":"seekingalpha","summary":"Summary\n\nShort interest in Palantir dropped by 23.8% in the latest cycle.\nEven though Palantir conti","content":"
Summary
\n
\n
Short interest in Palantir dropped by 23.8% in the latest cycle.
\n
Even though Palantir continues to be surrounded by bearish narratives, market participants don't seem to be comfortable with shorting the stock.
\n
The stock could rally further.
\n
\n
Michael Vi/iStock Editorial via Getty Images
\n
Palantir's (PLTR) shares are up 20% in the last month alone but the rally could still continue.

But that didn't happen and its short interest declined instead, that too by a significant amount.
\n
This active short unwinding indicates that market participants are uncomfortable in shorting the stock at current levels. This should come across as a reassuring sign for the company's long-side shareholders. The stock seems to be fairly valued and has the potential to rally further. Good Luck!
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Palantir: The Mass Exodus
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nPalantir: The Mass Exodus\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-28 22:06 GMT+8 seekingalpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Summary\n\nShort interest in Palantir dropped by 23.8% in the latest cycle.\nEven though Palantir continues to be surrounded by bearish narratives, market participants don't seem to be comfortable with ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"PLTR":"Palantir Technologies Inc."},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4436907-palantir-the-mass-exodus","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1105982179","content_text":"Summary\n\nShort interest in Palantir dropped by 23.8% in the latest cycle.\nEven though Palantir continues to be surrounded by bearish narratives, market participants don't seem to be comfortable with shorting the stock.\nThe stock could rally further.\n\nMichael Vi/iStock Editorial via Getty Images\nPalantir's (PLTR) shares are up 20% in the last month alone but the rally could still continue.
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Market fluctuations create buying opportunities for long-term investors, whether they are adding to an existing position or initiating a new one. The regulators said the cars’ assisted driving function can accidentally be activated by drivers, prompting sudden acceleration.\n“We believe this situation overall is a bump in the road and does not derail the near-term or long-term bull thesis for Tesla China, however going forward it needs to be a smoother road on autopilot safety otherwise the PR black cloud will continue,” Wedbush’s Daniel Ives said in a note released Sunday.\nIves said the recall is a “moment of truth for Tesla,” as the company needs to correct the autopilot software problems and put the issues “in the rear view mirror.”\nWedbush is maintaining its outperform rating on the electric vehicle stock. The firm is also keeping its $1,000 price target on Tesla, implying a 48.8% upside.\nIves noted that the Chinese market is set to comprise 40% of global deliveries for Tesla by next year. As such, demand China is a “key driver” for Tesla’s long term growth.\n“The company must play nice in the sandbox with Beijing around safety issues, otherwise it will be an impediment towards achieving its goals/targets in country,” Ives said.\nTesla shares closed at $671.87 on Friday and are down 4.8% in 2021.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":89,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
