Teradyne(NASDAQ:TER), Analog Devices(NASDAQ:ADI), and Qorvo(NASDAQ:QRVO)as names that have lagged the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index year-to-date but have \"catch-up potential.\"
\n
In a note out last week, analyst Vivek Arya sees AMD's server market share heading back toward the prior 25% peak versus the 10-11% currently, driving EPS of $4 versus the $2.65 consensus estimates for 2022. AMD's supercomputing business has increased five times on the year to a nearly 10% share.
\n
Arya notes the \"consistency\" of AMD's roadmap and the tailwind from potential Intel(NASDAQ:INTC)product pushouts, which becae more true last week as Intel delayed its Sapphire Rapidsdata center processor.
\n
BofA sees Broadcom's exposure to data center, cloud, and 5G driving an over 10% sales/EPS CAGR through calendar year 2023 and a leading margin profile with 75% gross margin and 55% operating margin. Free cash flow is expected to be at or above 50%, which could enhance shareholder value via buybacks. The BofA note came out before the FTC charged the company with operating anillegal monopoly.
\n
Arya says Teradyne is well-levered to Apple insourcing with a 25% sales exposure and benefits from the Mac mix shift, AR/VR, and future auto products. Teradyne is a leader in semiconductor testing but has underperformed major wafer fab equipment vendors by about 3,000 basis points year-to-date.
\n
Analog Devices has moved through legacy automotive headwinds with an improving auto portfolio. Arya notes ADI's solid 5G exposure and sees strength in the U.S. and European markets offsetting weakness in China. AMD's supercomputing business has increased five times on the year to a nearly 10% share.\nArya notes the \"consistency\" of AMD's roadmap and the tailwind from potential Intel(NASDAQ:INTC)product pushouts, which becae more true last week as Intel delayed its Sapphire Rapidsdata center processor.\nBofA sees Broadcom's exposure to data center, cloud, and 5G driving an over 10% sales/EPS CAGR through calendar year 2023 and a leading margin profile with 75% gross margin and 55% operating margin. Free cash flow is expected to be at or above 50%, which could enhance shareholder value via buybacks. The BofA note came out before the FTC charged the company with operating anillegal monopoly.\nArya says Teradyne is well-levered to Apple insourcing with a 25% sales exposure and benefits from the Mac mix shift, AR/VR, and future auto products. Teradyne is a leader in semiconductor testing but has underperformed major wafer fab equipment vendors by about 3,000 basis points year-to-date.\nAnalog Devices has moved through legacy automotive headwinds with an improving auto portfolio. Arya notes ADI's solid 5G exposure and sees strength in the U.S. and European markets offsetting weakness in China. The company's industrial portfolio, representing more than 50% of sales, is bolstered by high-growth trends in electric vehicle infrastructure and healthcare. ADI's core outlook for 7% top-line growth in 2022 could prove conservative.\nQorvo is highlighted as a key beneficiary of the expected \"robust\" 5G handset adoption with BofA estimating unit growth of 100% this year and 40% in 2022.
Beijing.
\n
The smartphone maker is looking to raise about $1 billion from the debt sale, people familiar with the matter said. That would include a rare green bond tranche from the nation’s tech firms. The borrower has received a bond sale quota of $1.2 billion from China’s National Development and Reform Commission, according to the people who asked not to be identified because they’re not authorized to speak about it. Xiaomi may choose whether or not to use the entire quota.
\n
Xiaomi’s latest dollar-denominated offering comes as Beijing moves to rein in some of the nation’s biggest tech firms. A rout in stocks from these firms deepened Wednesday after the internet regulator opened a security review of Didi Global Inc. and the country’s State Council said in a brief statement that rules for overseas listings would be reviewed and publicly traded companies will be accountable to keeping data secure.
\n
Initial price guidance for Xiaomi’s pending offering was set at 200 basis points above comparable U.S. Treasuries for a 10-year dollar bond and at 260 basis points for a 30-year green bond, according to another person familiar with the matter. A Xiaomi public relations official didn’t have an immediate comment Wednesday. The firm sold its debut deal in the dollar bond market with a $600 million note last year.
\n
The company, which raised nearly $5 billion in 2020 from the sale of various securities, reported strong growth in its core smartphone business to start this year. But it’s looking beyond consumer electronics, in March unveiling a potential $10 billion foray into making electric cars. Xiaomi said that eligible projects for its green bond proceeds include clean transportation and renewable energy.
\n
Xiaomi has made more than 40 types of energy-saving products, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group analysts including Owen Gallimore wrote in a note Wednesday.
\n
They put fair value for the tech firm’s planned 10-year note at 145 basis points above Treasuries and the 30-year offering at 210 basis points. “We expect bonds would be well-supported post its removal from U.S. blacklist in May,” the analysts wrote.
