In recent weeks, sharp gains in the U.S. 10-year yield had weighed on stocks, particularly in rate-sensitive growth sectors like technology.</p><p>&#34;The fact that bond market yields are standing down is probably a signal for equity investors to take on a little more risk today,&#34; said Jack Ablin, chief investment officer at Cresset Capital Management in Chicago.</p><p>But with the small cap Russell 2000 index underperforming to end down 0.82%, Ablin saw some caution.</p><p>&#34;Equity investors still want quality. Unlike the naysayers, I do believe that Palantir has a moat and I see evidence that it could achieve higher profitability as it scales.</p><p>What is Palantir’s “fair value”? Being conservative, I could go as low as $10/share, but the market won’t take it that low. At $15, this is a screaming buy due to its long-term potential. Growth in the private sector will be the definitive trend to watch for in the next decade.</p><p><b>Palantir does have a moat (for now)</b></p><p>One of the biggest areas of debate surrounding Palantir is the existence or lack of a “moat” around its business. When it comes to technology like AI, it can be hard for investors to understand just how “unique” a certain technology is.</p><p>Palantir offers Foundry for enterprises and Gotham for governments, which is an AI data analytics tool. Used in the right way and by the right people, it can be used to seamlessly sift through data and find patterns or trends that could potentially do anything from stopping a terrorist attack to optimizing supply chains.</p><p>Is this software unique? There are a lot of other companies in the lucrative space of data analytics, but few that have the capabilities of Palantir. Evidence of this, of course, is the large presence the company has achieved in the public sector. However, what is also misunderstood by many is that Palantir has amassed some of the best talent in the industry.</p><p>It is this combination of talent, which comes at the price of stock-based compensation, and a top of line software/AI, which give Palantir its moat.</p><p><b>Economies of scale are happening</b></p><p>The other main issue that people have with Palantir, is profitability. The company is losing cash every year and funding its operations through stock dilution. However, what people fail to see is that Palantir is funding growth and expansion. If the company wanted to, I believe it could indeed turn a profit as soon as next year. After all, the company has a levered FCF margin of around 35%.</p><p>But profitability isn’t what the company wants, as it is trying to grow revenues and expand. Having said that, for those that believe profitability is a pipedream, I found the most encouraging evidence of economies of scale in the latest earnings call presentation.During the Q&amp;A section, a very interesting point was made regarding the different modules that the company has been able to create for Foundry. In short, Palantir has been able to create specialized versions of Foundry which can be used for specific situations/industries. In other words, the company has been able to standardize its work to a degree. The data problems that one company faces, aren’t unique and from what I gather, Palantir can now deploy previously created modules to solve similar problems while decreasing the workload and deployment time.</p><p><b>How much is Palantir worth now and in the future?</b></p><p>With all of the above said, Palantir doesn’t seem to me like bad company. But is the valuation stretched? That depends on what multiples the market assigns, the actual growth rates, and the level of dilution we see moving forward.</p><p>In a previous article, I forecasted the revenue growth of Palantir based on current trends and estimates, and also looked at a possible trajectory for the overall share growth based on financing needs and balance sheet structure.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4f751d9a2d6909956f9ca75d692d1eb3\" tg-width=\"717\" tg-height=\"261\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/><span>Palantir Growth</span></p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4d3c17b0966870585d0f4bc51a488ddb\" tg-width=\"728\" tg-height=\"759\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/><span>Palantir Shares</span></p><p>The projections for 2021 are on the higher side, but the growth fits the overall narrative of the company of going from a 40% growth rate to a stabilized 30% CAGR over the next decade. Also, bear in mind Palantir has typically beaten its revenue forecasts.</p><p>With this revenue and share count, we can easily calculate a target share price, all we need is to assign a P/S multiple.</p><p>In 2021, Palantir has traded at a P/S of around 20 and as high as 30. While I agree that this is on the higher end of the spectrum, it is much more reasonable than assigning a P/S of 5. I would argue the best way to find a reasonable ratio, is to find a comparable company, and I’d say Splunk Inc(NASDAQ:SPLK)is a good start. Splunk, like Palantir, is in the data business, it has similar margins and even a presence in the public sector, making it a close competitor to Palantir.</p><p>Splunk currently has a P/S of around 7.6, but it has also grown revenues at only 10% in the last year, far below Palantir’s 43% growth rate. With this in mind, I could easily justify Palantir having a P/S of 15. Even if you believe both Palantir and Splunk are due for further multiple contractions I think a P/S of 10 for Palantir is as low as the market will go. With that said, I’ll establish a price range using a P/S of 10-15 and using my forecasts for 2022 and 2025.</p><p>Therefore, my price target for 2022 based on P/S would be $11.5-$15.2. By 2025, at the same P/S, the shares would be worth between $24.6-$37. Bear in mind this implies a significant multiple contraction compared to what we have seen in 2021.</p><p><b>Other considerations</b></p><p>I think $10 is a floor that Palantir won’t break. I’d be happy to scoop up those shares at that price, and even at $15. Palantir is well-positioned for long-term growth, and it could pleasantly surprise investors, especially if it can make more inroads in the private sector. For now, indeed, unprofitable companies like Palantir are not fashionable, due to the idea that the Fed will be raising rates “soon”. This is yet to be seen.</p><p>As I’ve mentioned before, inflation will struggle to remain high while money velocity is trending lower. Could we have already seen the highest levels of inflation? But the real injury has been suffered by investors in between its initial public offering (IPO) and today; shares are down as much as 72% from the highs; most investors in the company have lost value.</p><p>Shares haven&#39;t fallen for no reason: Active users have declined as people have returned to in-person activities after the lockdowns at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. But I expect its growth is far from over, with a user base that&#39;s a fraction of other social media platforms.</p><p>Most importantly, Pinterest continues to grow a really important metric: ARPU, or average revenue per user. As other social media platforms deal with monetization challenges, Pinterest continues to grow the premium advertisers are willing to pay, with ARPU climbing 23% in the fourth quarter, driving Pinterest&#39;s 20% revenue growth.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/79c81f3872341d9ad8e1263a8b49e6aa\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"398\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/></p><p>Image source: Pinterest.</p><p>It&#39;s also a cash cow, generating almost $744 million free cash, at 28% cash margin in 2021. At recent prices, you can own that cash-generating business for a value-stock multiple of 22 times free cash flow. That&#39;s value-stock pricing for a strong, growing company.</p><h2>The Trade Desk is in the right business at the right time</h2><p><b>Parkev Tatevosian:</b> <b>The Trade Desk</b> ( TTD 4.45% ) is a buy-side platform that enables digital ad purchases. In other words, it helps businesses looking to reach customers through digital channels like connected TVs, smartphones, and tablets. That&#39;s becoming increasingly important as consumers spend more and more time connected to the internet.</p><p>The Trade Desk is riding that wave of momentum and has grown sales tenfold from 2015 to 2021. The trend is unlikely to reverse. First, consumers appreciate the benefits of a world where access to the internet is abundant. Streaming video content, music, and podcasts are popular. If anything, people want more material they can consume this way.</p><p>Also, digital advertising is more efficient. Marketers can more accurately measure the results their spending is delivering. How many clicks did your ad generate? How many purchases? These can both be measured with some precision through digital channels. That&#39;s in stark contrast to non-digital media like newspapers, billboards, or cable TV. How many purchases did your TV commercial generate? You can get estimates, but with a wide margin of error.</p><p>It&#39;s no surprise The Trade Desk grew revenue more than tenfold from $114 million in 2015 to $1.2 billion in 2021. Fortunately for investors, The Trade Desk is still a tiny player in the massive advertising industry that generated $763 billion in revenue in 2021. Purchasers of the stock today can ride along higher with The Trade Desk as it grabs a more significant share. To make The Trade Desk&#39;s stock more enticing right now, it&#39;s down 38% off its high, an opportunity that may not be around for long.</p><h2>This gaming stock could bounce back in a big way</h2><p><b>Keith Noonan: CD Projekt</b> ( OTGL.Y 1.82% ) is a mid-cap player in the gaming industry based out of Warsaw, Poland. The company is best known for <i>The Witcher</i> series and <i>Cyberpunk 2077</i>, and some might even say the developer is infamous for the latter title.</p><p><i>Cyberpunk 2077</i> likely stands as <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of the most hyped-up games of all time, but unfortunately the title was released with bugs and other shortcomings that resulted in it failing to meet critical and commercial expectations. The underperformance has caused the company&#39;s stock to fall roughly 67% from its high.</p><p>At this point, it&#39;s fair to say that <i>Cyberpunk 2077</i> has been a disappointment, but the good news is that the title might not go down that way over the long term. Thanks to downloadable content updates, video games have longer lifecycles than ever before, and it&#39;s possible for titles to bounce back from setbacks so long as subsequent updates deliver the goods.</p><p>Consider that Epic Games&#39; hugely successful <i>Fortnite</i> was actually something of a flop upon release. Like <i>Cyberpunk 2077</i>, <i>Fortnite</i> had an incredibly lengthy development cycle and underperformed upon its initial release, but it wound up recovering and going on to be a massive success after new modes were added and the game&#39;s focus was shifted.</p><p>CD Projekt has the chance to turn <i>Cyberpunk 2077</i> into a winner over the long term, and <i>The Witcher</i> is a franchise that still looks to have plenty of life in it. As bad as the number is and as much inflationary pressure that&#39;s in the economy there was a little relief in that,&#34; said Anthony Saglimbene, Ameriprise Financial&#39;s global market strategist in Troy, Michigan.</p><p>&#34;Today&#39;s inflation report validates the Fed trajectory and means they don&#39;t have to be any more aggressive than is already priced in.&#34;</p><p>The central bank&#39;s plan for easing accommodation to fight inflation includes raising interest rates, which analysts expect to start as soon as March, as well as tapering its bond buying program and reducing its asset holdings.</p><p>For most stock sectors it also helped that longer-dated U.S. Treasury yields dipped on Wednesday. Both Morgan Stanley and Goldman were also in the top five biggest drags on the S&amp;P 500 on the day. However, the broader banking sector, which includes more traditional lenders, rose 0.3% on Wednesday.</p><p>In sectors like air travel, however, surging cases of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus could dampen earnings expectations, with analysts at Bank of America reckoning that the pandemic&#39;s impact on corporate travel is the biggest risk to the airline industry.</p><p>The healthcare index, was weighed down by shares of drugmaker Eli Lilly, which closed down 2.4% and was the biggest single weight on the S&amp;P, and Biogen, which lost 6.7%.</p><p>The U.S. government Medicare program said that while it plans to cover Biogen&#39;s Aduhelm Alzheimer treatment it will require patients to be enrolled in a clinical trial, limiting access to the medication. This could also impact Eli Lilly, which is developing similar drugs.</p><p>The biggest boosts to the S&amp;P on the day wereTeslaup 3.9% ahead of Microsoft Google parent Alphabet, which both rose more than 1%.</p><p>Advancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE by a 1.26-to-1 ratio; There&#39;s still plenty of room for the company to surprise investors.</li></ul><p><b>Thesis Summary</b></p><p>Palantir’s(NYSE:PLTR)share price has fallen nearly 30% in the last six months amid a broader tech selloff. Bears have come out of the cave, with some going as far as declaring that the company is worth as little as $5 share.</p><p>Granted, the company has its problems, but it is still a pioneering company in a growing sector. Unlike the naysayers, I do believe that Palantir has a moat and I see evidence that it could achieve higher profitability as it scales.</p><p>What is Palantir’s “fair value”? Being conservative, I could go as low as $10/share, but the market won’t take it that low. At $15, this is a screaming buy due to its long-term potential. Growth in the private sector will be the definitive trend to watch for in the next decade.</p><p><b>Palantir does have a moat (for now)</b></p><p>One of the biggest areas of debate surrounding Palantir is the existence or lack of a “moat” around its business. When it comes to technology like AI, it can be hard for investors to understand just how “unique” a certain technology is.</p><p>Palantir offers Foundry for enterprises and Gotham for governments, which is an AI data analytics tool. Used in the right way and by the right people, it can be used to seamlessly sift through data and find patterns or trends that could potentially do anything from stopping a terrorist attack to optimizing supply chains.</p><p>Is this software unique? There are a lot of other companies in the lucrative space of data analytics, but few that have the capabilities of Palantir. Evidence of this, of course, is the large presence the company has achieved in the public sector. However, what is also misunderstood by many is that Palantir has amassed some of the best talent in the industry.</p><p>It is this combination of talent, which comes at the price of stock-based compensation, and a top of line software/AI, which give Palantir its moat.</p><p><b>Economies of scale are happening</b></p><p>The other main issue that people have with Palantir, is profitability. The company is losing cash every year and funding its operations through stock dilution. However, what people fail to see is that Palantir is funding growth and expansion. If the company wanted to, I believe it could indeed turn a profit as soon as next year. After all, the company has a levered FCF margin of around 35%.</p><p>But profitability isn’t what the company wants, as it is trying to grow revenues and expand. Having said that, for those that believe profitability is a pipedream, I found the most encouraging evidence of economies of scale in the latest earnings call presentation.During the Q&amp;A section, a very interesting point was made regarding the different modules that the company has been able to create for Foundry. In short, Palantir has been able to create specialized versions of Foundry which can be used for specific situations/industries. In other words, the company has been able to standardize its work to a degree. The data problems that one company faces, aren’t unique and from what I gather, Palantir can now deploy previously created modules to solve similar problems while decreasing the workload and deployment time.</p><p><b>How much is Palantir worth now and in the future?</b></p><p>With all of the above said, Palantir doesn’t seem to me like bad company. But is the valuation stretched? That depends on what multiples the market assigns, the actual growth rates, and the level of dilution we see moving forward.</p><p>In a previous article, I forecasted the revenue growth of Palantir based on current trends and estimates, and also looked at a possible trajectory for the overall share growth based on financing needs and balance sheet structure.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4f751d9a2d6909956f9ca75d692d1eb3\" tg-width=\"717\" tg-height=\"261\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/><span>Palantir Growth</span></p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4d3c17b0966870585d0f4bc51a488ddb\" tg-width=\"728\" tg-height=\"759\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/><span>Palantir Shares</span></p><p>The projections for 2021 are on the higher side, but the growth fits the overall narrative of the company of going from a 40% growth rate to a stabilized 30% CAGR over the next decade. Also, bear in mind Palantir has typically beaten its revenue forecasts.</p><p>With this revenue and share count, we can easily calculate a target share price, all we need is to assign a P/S multiple.</p><p>In 2021, Palantir has traded at a P/S of around 20 and as high as 30. While I agree that this is on the higher end of the spectrum, it is much more reasonable than assigning a P/S of 5. I would argue the best way to find a reasonable ratio, is to find a comparable company, and I’d say Splunk Inc(NASDAQ:SPLK)is a good start. Splunk, like Palantir, is in the data business, it has similar margins and even a presence in the public sector, making it a close competitor to Palantir.</p><p>Splunk currently has a P/S of around 7.6, but it has also grown revenues at only 10% in the last year, far below Palantir’s 43% growth rate. With this in mind, I could easily justify Palantir having a P/S of 15. Even if you believe both Palantir and Splunk are due for further multiple contractions I think a P/S of 10 for Palantir is as low as the market will go. With that said, I’ll establish a price range using a P/S of 10-15 and using my forecasts for 2022 and 2025.</p><p>Therefore, my price target for 2022 based on P/S would be $11.5-$15.2. By 2025, at the same P/S, the shares would be worth between $24.6-$37. Being conservative, I could go as low as $10/share, but the market won’t take it that low. At $15, this is a screaming buy due to its long-term potential. Evidence of this, of course, is the large presence the company has achieved in the public sector. However, what is also misunderstood by many is that Palantir has amassed some of the best talent in the industry.It is this combination of talent, which comes at the price of stock-based compensation, and a top of line software/AI, which give Palantir its moat.Economies of scale are happeningThe other main issue that people have with Palantir, is profitability. The company is losing cash every year and funding its operations through stock dilution. However, what people fail to see is that Palantir is funding growth and expansion. If the company wanted to, I believe it could indeed turn a profit as soon as next year. After all, the company has a levered FCF margin of around 35%.But profitability isn’t what the company wants, as it is trying to grow revenues and expand. Having said that, for those that believe profitability is a pipedream, I found the most encouraging evidence of economies of scale in the latest earnings call presentation.During the Q&A section, a very interesting point was made regarding the different modules that the company has been able to create for Foundry. In short, Palantir has been able to create specialized versions of Foundry which can be used for specific situations/industries. In other words, the company has been able to standardize its work to a degree. The data problems that one company faces, aren’t unique and from what I gather, Palantir can now deploy previously created modules to solve similar problems while decreasing the workload and deployment time.How much is Palantir worth now and in the future?With all of the above said, Palantir doesn’t seem to me like bad company. But is the valuation stretched? That depends on what multiples the market assigns, the actual growth rates, and the level of dilution we see moving forward.In a previous article, I forecasted the revenue growth of Palantir based on current trends and estimates, and also looked at a possible trajectory for the overall share growth based on financing needs and balance sheet structure.Palantir GrowthPalantir SharesThe projections for 2021 are on the higher side, but the growth fits the overall narrative of the company of going from a 40% growth rate to a stabilized 30% CAGR over the next decade. Also, bear in mind Palantir has typically beaten its revenue forecasts.With this revenue and share count, we can easily calculate a target share price, all we need is to assign a P/S multiple.In 2021, Palantir has traded at a P/S of around 20 and as high as 30. While I agree that this is on the higher end of the spectrum, it is much more reasonable than assigning a P/S of 5. I would argue the best way to find a reasonable ratio, is to find a comparable company, and I’d say Splunk Inc(NASDAQ:SPLK)is a good start. Splunk, like Palantir, is in the data business, it has similar margins and even a presence in the public sector, making it a close competitor to Palantir.Splunk currently has a P/S of around 7.6, but it has also grown revenues at only 10% in the last year, far below Palantir’s 43% growth rate. With this in mind, I could easily justify Palantir having a P/S of 15. Even if you believe both Palantir and Splunk are due for further multiple contractions I think a P/S of 10 for Palantir is as low as the market will go. With that said, I’ll establish a price range using a P/S of 10-15 and using my forecasts for 2022 and 2025.Therefore, my price target for 2022 based on P/S would be $11.5-$15.2. By 2025, at the same P/S, the shares would be worth between $24.6-$37. (AAPL) has recently drawn significant interest among investors as the stock has continued to outperform the market since early December. It&#39;s notable since AAPL stock has lagged the market for almost the whole year. However, investors&#39; interests spiked following the series of successful new product launches, including its pivotal iPhone 13.</p><p>Supply chain checks from numerous sell-side analysts have also demonstrated that the delays over its iPhones have improved markedly. In addition, Goldman Sachs also highlighted that lead times were down significantly in mid-December as Apple continues to leverage strong iPhone demand in its most crucial calendar quarter.</p><p>AAPL stock continues to hold its price steadily, briefly topped a $3T market cap milestone. However, there shouldn&#39;t be any doubt that AAPL stock has had an unmistakable long-term uptrend over the years. Moreover, given that the company has multiple long-term secular drivers driving its business model, we are confident that the stock can reach $200 in 2022.</p><p>We discuss these critical drivers for AAPL stock as we head into 2022 with the $3T market cap looking over the horizon.</p><p><b>Services Revenue Growth Could Have Been Significantly Understated</b></p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0a837d0ef4f22be5610e00a0a6c3b6a5\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"396\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/><span>Apple revenue and adjusted EBITDA mean consensus estimates. Data source: S&amp;P Capital IQ</span></p><p>Apple bears have often pointed out the deceleration in the company&#39;s topline growth as proof of a stock that is massively overvalued. It&#39;s easy to understand what they mean. Readers can refer to the chart above, where Apple&#39;s revenue growth is estimated to decelerate over the next three years. Consensus estimates point to a revenue CAGR of just 4.6% through FY24. Moreover, its adjusted EBITDA margins are likely to remain consistent. But, AAPL is not projected to gain leverage towards its profitability. Hence, bearish investors claim they don&#39;t understand how the Cupertino company can continue to justify its current valuation.</p><p>But, we think investors need to step back and consider the critical growth drivers for AAPL moving forward. So let us present our analysis.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3850a7b0d906064e94b474a4f50c3fd4\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"396\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/><span>Apple iPhone and services revenue estimates. Data source: Trefis, author</span></p><p>Readers can refer to the above model, where iPhone&#39;s revenue is estimated to increase at a CAGR of just 2.2% over the next five years. However, Apple&#39;s services segment (including App Store&#39;s revenue) is projected to increase its revenue at a CAGR of 11% through FY26, reaching $115B. We think these estimates are relatively conservative. Based on these estimates, a SOTP implied fair value of $159 was reached for AAPL stock. It also includes other segments but was mainly driven by the two critical segments above. iPhone and services accounted for 43% and 25% of its SOTP valuation.</p><p>But, we believe that these estimates may not have captured the multiple growth drivers underpinning the App Store. Why?</p><p>Based on recent estimates by Sensor Tower, App Store&#39;s revenue is estimated to increase at a CAGR of 20.7% through CY25, reaching $185B. Notably, it&#39;s way ahead of the estimate of $115B that we discussed earlier for the entire services segment. Importantly, we have not even included revenue from the other services other than App Store&#39;s contribution. Therefore, we think that readers need to consider that the Street consensus may have significantly underestimated the prowess of Apple&#39;s highly profitable (estimated operating margin &gt; 70%) App Store.</p><p>We are not saying that Sensor Tower&#39;s estimate is the source of truth. But, we wanted to highlight that investors should pay more attention to Apple&#39;s key services segment. Sensor Tower presented a region by region breakdown, which we thought seemed credible, and we encourage investors to monitor closely.</p><p><b>Don&#39;t Ignore Apple&#39;s Metaverse Ambitions</b></p><p>Renowned TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimated that Apple&#39;s AR/VR device would be released sometime in Q4&#39;22. We believe this is significant as it augurs well for Apple&#39;s ambitions into the metaverse. There&#39;s little doubt that Meta Platforms (FB) and Microsoft(MSFT) are strengthening their lead in the consumer and commercial AR/VR space.According to TrendForce, global AR/VR device shipment is estimated to reach 12.02M units, up 26.4% YoY in 2022. Moreover, the market is estimated to grow rapidly through 2025, reaching 25.76M units at a CAGR of 38.8%. Notably, it expects Meta&#39;s Oculus devices to maintain a 66% consumer market share. But, TrendForce also noted that (edited):</p><blockquote>AR/VR device suppliers may look to expand their user base and increase their market penetration via low-priced yet high-spec devices,<i>while compensating for their reduced hardware profitability through software sales</i>. (TrendForce)</blockquote><p>Software sales indeed. Apple runs the largest mobile ecosystem globally, which dwarfs Google Play&#39;s (GOOG) (GOOGL) revenue. Therefore, we believe the entry of Apple into the metaverse game could significantly raise the company&#39;s monetization opportunities. Theories that Meta Platform has ambitions to displace Apple as the next-gen computing platform abound. However, we have also discussed thatMeta Platforms&#39; eventual metaverse will unlikely be the only virtual world we will ever experience. Instead, the metaverse will likely be a series of interconnected virtual worlds that will be interoperable. So, Apple could still be the critical ecosystem owner as creators build their virtual worlds to be monetized through the App Store, reaching out to Apple&#39;s more than 1B (and growing) installed base.</p><p>TrendForce also added that global VR content revenue is estimated to grow at a rapid 40% CAGR through 2025, reaching $8.3B. The content will be varied but primarily consisting of &#34;gaming/entertainment, videos, and social interactions.&#34; Therefore, Apple can continue to leverage such opportunities through its massive ecosystem. We think these opportunities are so novel that it hasn&#39;t even been written into Apple&#39;s consensus estimates just yet. But, once Apple&#39;s AR/VR devices are launched, we believe that the revenue runway could become even more apparent. However, we must still caution that we are still very early into Apple&#39;s metaverse ambitions. But, we believe that Apple will be a critical player in defining the metaverse through its ecosystem. It won&#39;t be very smart to consider that Apple doesn&#39;t have a clearly-defined metaverse strategy.</p><p><b>So, is AAPL Stock a Buy Now?</b></p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6087fafa5c6ee0f2958f8d29919c3eb5\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"384\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/><span>AAPL stock EV/NTM EBIT, and Normalized P/E (NTM) 3Y mean.</span></p><p>If you consider AAPL stock&#39;s relative valuation against its 3Y mean, there&#39;s little doubt that AAPL stock seems expensive. It&#39;s trading at an EV/NTM EBIT of 26x, way above its 3Y mean of 19.3x. In addition, its normalized P/E (NTM) also read 31.2x, significantly ahead of its 3Y mean of 23.9x. Therefore, we wouldn&#39;t blame bearish investors who think that AAPL stock seems well overvalued now.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2c889e6a8aa5fe9751c5d695481f9d3b\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"396\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/><span>Apple unlevered FCF estimates. Moreover, our model is even more conservative than the consensus estimates. In addition, we have also not considered Sensor Tower&#39;s estimates or Apple&#39;s metaverse opportunities that we discussed earlier. Nevertheless, it led us towards a DCF implied fair value estimate of $153, which we highlighted in our previous article. It&#39;s also quite close to our SOTP implied fair value of $159 that we showed earlier. Therefore, it&#39;s clear that these estimates have not factored for the robust services growth and the potential metaverse opportunities that could accrue to Apple over the next five to ten years.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/de1380b774a68d31c93eaf939fb99e27\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"347\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/><span>AAPL stock price action.</span></p><p>Nevertheless, we think that AAPL stock looks extended, as seen above. But, as mentioned, it wouldn&#39;t be very smart for investors to bet against CEO Tim Cook &amp; Co. The stock&#39;s long-term uptrend is clear for all to observe.</p><p>So, we are clear that the stock would likely break the $200 level in 2022 as the excitement surrounding its AR/VR launch gets closers, coupled with its services segment revenue growth in its earnings releases. As a result, we believe that AAPL&#39;s stock price could be re-rated to reflect its potential over the next year.</p><p>Nevertheless, due to its over-extended price action, we encourage some patience with AAPL stock. But, if you have no AAPL stock, we think you can consider adding at this price if you are a long-term investor. We don&#39;t believe it&#39;s significantly overvalued, as discussed earlier. Consensus estimates point to a revenue CAGR of just 4.6% through FY24. Moreover, its adjusted EBITDA margins are likely to remain consistent. But, AAPL is not projected to gain leverage towards its profitability. Hence, bearish investors claim they don't understand how the Cupertino company can continue to justify its current valuation.But, we think investors need to step back and consider the critical growth drivers for AAPL moving forward. So let us present our analysis.Apple iPhone and services revenue estimates. Data source: Trefis, authorReaders can refer to the above model, where iPhone's revenue is estimated to increase at a CAGR of just 2.2% over the next five years. However, Apple's services segment (including App Store's revenue) is projected to increase its revenue at a CAGR of 11% through FY26, reaching $115B. We think these estimates are relatively conservative. Based on these estimates, a SOTP implied fair value of $159 was reached for AAPL stock. It also includes other segments but was mainly driven by the two critical segments above. iPhone and services accounted for 43% and 25% of its SOTP valuation.But, we believe that these estimates may not have captured the multiple growth drivers underpinning the App Store. Why?Based on recent estimates by Sensor Tower, App Store's revenue is estimated to increase at a CAGR of 20.7% through CY25, reaching $185B. Notably, it's way ahead of the estimate of $115B that we discussed earlier for the entire services segment. Importantly, we have not even included revenue from the other services other than App Store's contribution. Therefore, we think that readers need to consider that the Street consensus may have significantly underestimated the prowess of Apple's highly profitable (estimated operating margin > 70%) App Store.We are not saying that Sensor Tower's estimate is the source of truth. But, we wanted to highlight that investors should pay more attention to Apple's key services segment. Sensor Tower presented a region by region breakdown, which we thought seemed credible, and we encourage investors to monitor closely.Don't Ignore Apple's Metaverse AmbitionsRenowned TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimated that Apple's AR/VR device would be released sometime in Q4'22. We believe this is significant as it augurs well for Apple's ambitions into the metaverse. There's little doubt that Meta Platforms (FB) and Microsoft(MSFT) are strengthening their lead in the consumer and commercial AR/VR space.According to TrendForce, global AR/VR device shipment is estimated to reach 12.02M units, up 26.4% YoY in 2022. Moreover, the market is estimated to grow rapidly through 2025, reaching 25.76M units at a CAGR of 38.8%. Notably, it expects Meta's Oculus devices to maintain a 66% consumer market share. But, TrendForce also noted that (edited):AR/VR device suppliers may look to expand their user base and increase their market penetration via low-priced yet high-spec devices,while compensating for their reduced hardware profitability through software sales. Therefore, we believe the entry of Apple into the metaverse game could significantly raise the company's monetization opportunities. Theories that Meta Platform has ambitions to displace Apple as the next-gen computing platform abound. However, we have also discussed thatMeta Platforms' eventual metaverse will unlikely be the only virtual world we will ever experience. Instead, the metaverse will likely be a series of interconnected virtual worlds that will be interoperable. So, Apple could still be the critical ecosystem owner as creators build their virtual worlds to be monetized through the App Store, reaching out to Apple's more than 1B (and growing) installed base.TrendForce also added that global VR content revenue is estimated to grow at a rapid 40% CAGR through 2025, reaching $8.3B. It won't be very smart to consider that Apple doesn't have a clearly-defined metaverse strategy.So, is AAPL Stock a Buy Now?AAPL stock EV/NTM EBIT, and Normalized P/E (NTM) 3Y mean.If you consider AAPL stock's relative valuation against its 3Y mean, there's little doubt that AAPL stock seems expensive. It's trading at an EV/NTM EBIT of 26x, way above its 3Y mean of 19.3x. In addition, its normalized P/E (NTM) also read 31.2x, significantly ahead of its 3Y mean of 23.9x. Therefore, we wouldn't blame bearish investors who think that AAPL stock seems well overvalued now.Apple unlevered FCF estimates. But, as mentioned, it wouldn't be very smart for investors to bet against CEO Tim Cook & Co. The stock's long-term uptrend is clear for all to observe.So, we are clear that the stock would likely break the $200 level in 2022 as the excitement surrounding its AR/VR launch gets closers, coupled with its services segment revenue growth in its earnings releases. As a result, we believe that AAPL's stock price could be re-rated to reflect its potential over the next year.Nevertheless, due to its over-extended price action, we encourage some patience with AAPL stock.
