However, overwhelming technical sell signals are still in place and there is no technical bottom in place yet. The fundamental metrics still look overvalued for a high PEG, slow growth in earnings profile short term. It is low beta and that is attractive in a bear market, but only if a stock has already bottomed.

Given that Apple stock is currently down 24% from its all-time high, now might be an opportune time to take a position in the largest company in the world.</p><h2>2. Upstart Holdings</h2><p><b>Upstart Holdings</b> listed on the public markets in December 2020 at $20 per share. It has since rocketed to an all-time high of $401, before falling back down to about $32, where it trades today. The company uses artificial intelligence to originate loans for 57 banks and credit unions (a number that&#39;s growing quickly), in a bid to compete with <b>Fair Isaac</b>&#39;s decades-old FICO credit scoring system.</p><p>Investors have sold Upstart stock heavily in recent months because rising interest rates typically result in consumers borrowing less money, less frequently. Since the company earns fees each time it originates a loan, that could deliver a hit to its revenue, and it has already revised its 2022 guidance down to $1.25 billion from $1.4 billion.</p><p>But if the economy does remain strong, Upstart is very well positioned to benefit. The company&#39;s Upstart Auto Retail sales and finance platform is now active in 525 car dealerships across America, a number that has grown 224% in the last 12 months alone. That places Upstart on the front lines when it comes to one of the largest purchases consumers typically make.</p><p>And the company&#39;s primary focus is unsecured lending for a range of purposes including home renovations and vacations, which are more segments of higher discretionary spending when consumers are feeling confident.</p><p>In the long run, Upstart&#39;s annual opportunity could exceed $6 trillion. It never truly recovered from when shareholders shot down a proposed pairing with Walgreens a few years ago. It also has assets it may be able to unlock. <b>Deutsche Bank</b> stunned the market when it slashed its price target on Rite Aid from $16 to $1 three months ago. Deutsche Bank analyst George Hill has since boosted that price goal to $2, and then $4 on the potential for Rite Aid to raise money by selling its pharmacy benefits manager business, but he&#39;s sticking to his bearish sell rating. The upside is there if Rite Aid can ever get beyond its arrogance, but for now it has a pending quarterly earnings update, and that didn&#39;t go well last time.</p><h2><b>MicroStrategy</b></h2><p>There&#39;s been something wrong with the crypto market in recent months, and the chaos is only intensifying. We&#39;ve even seen a stablecoin and a decentralized finance platform slam on the brakes in the past couple of weeks. The market&#39;s confidence in digital currencies has been rattled, possibly to the point where it&#39;s irreversible. Where does that leave MicroStrategy?</p><p>CEO Michael Saylor has gone all in on <b>Bitcoin</b> (BTC 6.58%). It&#39;s a decision that seemed brilliant when he invested billions in the top crypto as it was rising. But it&#39;s been disastrous on the way down. More to the point, the enterprise software company that Sailor should be focusing on was never exciting. We&#39;re talking about declining annual revenue in six of the past seven years. Bitcoin&#39;s crash is showing us that the emperor has no clothes, but it&#39;s not as if MicroStrategy itself was a snappy dresser before the costly infatuation with the imploding crypto market.</p><h2><b>CVR Energy</b></h2><p>After back-to-back weeks of greater-than 5% slides, I want my third pick to be hopeful for a general market rebound. This means betting against an investment that&#39;s been rising as general markets are falling. One of the largest companies to have more than doubled in 2022 is CVR Energy.</p><p>The petroleum refiner and maker of nitrogen fertilizer is booming alongside most oil and gas stocks this year. With petroleum prices soaring, it&#39;s easy to see why the stock is up 105% year to date. However, the good times aren&#39;t expected to last. Revenue and earnings are skyrocketing this year, but analysts see an 8% revenue decline come 2023, with earnings cut nearly in half. Looking back, it has also posted a larger-than-expected adjusted loss in two of the past three quarters. If the overall market starts to recover, there will be some rotation out of this red-hot sector. CVR Energy is doing a lot of things right, but even winners need to take a breather now and then.</p><p>It&#39;s going to be a bumpy road for some of these investments. The three stocks I thought were going to move lower for the week -- <b>Oracle</b>, <b>Beyond Air</b>, and <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/BLNK\">Blink Charging</a></b> -- finished up 1%, up 5%, and flat, respectively, averaging out to a 2% gain.</p><p>The <b>S&amp;P 500</b> experienced a 5.8% drop, and the investments I figured would fare worse did a lot better. I was wrong, but I have still been correct in 24 of the past 35 weeks.</p><p>Where do I go to next? I see <b>Rite Aid</b>, <b>MicroStrategy</b>, and <b>CVR Energy</b> as stocks you may want to consider steering clear of this week. Let&#39;s go over my near-term concerns with all three investments.</p><h2><b>Rite Aid</b></h2><p>Time hasn&#39;t been kind to Rite Aid since it rejected a buyout proposal to take the drugstore operator private at $14.60 a share three months ago. The stock begins this holiday-shortened trading week at $6.20.</p><p>It doesn&#39;t help that Rite Aid also posted a much larger quarterly loss than analysts were expecting in April. Adding fuel to the fire sale, the drugstore chain reports fresh financials on Thursday morning.</p><p>There&#39;s always hope that Rite Aid eventually finds a suitable exit strategy. It never truly recovered from when shareholders shot down a proposed pairing with Walgreens a few years ago. It also has assets it may be able to unlock. <b>Deutsche Bank</b> stunned the market when it slashed its price target on Rite Aid from $16 to $1 three months ago. Deutsche Bank analyst George Hill has since boosted that price goal to $2, and then $4 on the potential for Rite Aid to raise money by selling its pharmacy benefits manager business, but he&#39;s sticking to his bearish sell rating. The upside is there if Rite Aid can ever get beyond its arrogance, but for now it has a pending quarterly earnings update, and that didn&#39;t go well last time.</p><h2><b>MicroStrategy</b></h2><p>There&#39;s been something wrong with the crypto market in recent months, and the chaos is only intensifying. We&#39;ve even seen a stablecoin and a decentralized finance platform slam on the brakes in the past couple of weeks. The market&#39;s confidence in digital currencies has been rattled, possibly to the point where it&#39;s irreversible. Where does that leave MicroStrategy?</p><p>CEO Michael Saylor has gone all in on <b>Bitcoin</b> (BTC 6.58%). It&#39;s a decision that seemed brilliant when he invested billions in the top crypto as it was rising. But it&#39;s been disastrous on the way down. More to the point, the enterprise software company that Sailor should be focusing on was never exciting. We&#39;re talking about declining annual revenue in six of the past seven years. Bitcoin&#39;s crash is showing us that the emperor has no clothes, but it&#39;s not as if MicroStrategy itself was a snappy dresser before the costly infatuation with the imploding crypto market.</p><h2><b>CVR Energy</b></h2><p>After back-to-back weeks of greater-than 5% slides, I want my third pick to be hopeful for a general market rebound. This means betting against an investment that&#39;s been rising as general markets are falling. One of the largest companies to have more than doubled in 2022 is CVR Energy.</p><p>The petroleum refiner and maker of nitrogen fertilizer is booming alongside most oil and gas stocks this year. With petroleum prices soaring, it&#39;s easy to see why the stock is up 105% year to date. However, the good times aren&#39;t expected to last. Revenue and earnings are skyrocketing this year, but analysts see an 8% revenue decline come 2023, with earnings cut nearly in half. Looking back, it has also posted a larger-than-expected adjusted loss in two of the past three quarters. If the overall market starts to recover, there will be some rotation out of this red-hot sector. CVR Energy is doing a lot of things right, but even winners need to take a breather now and then.</p><p>It&#39;s going to be a bumpy road for some of these investments. The three stocks I thought were going to move lower for the week -- Oracle, Beyond Air, and Blink Charging -- finished up 1%, up 5%, and flat, respectively, averaging out to a 2% gain.The S&P 500 experienced a 5.8% drop, and the investments I figured would fare worse did a lot better. I was wrong, but I have still been correct in 24 of the past 35 weeks.Where do I go to next? I see Rite Aid, MicroStrategy, and CVR Energy as stocks you may want to consider steering clear of this week. Let's go over my near-term concerns with all three investments.Rite AidTime hasn't been kind to Rite Aid since it rejected a buyout proposal to take the drugstore operator private at $14.60 a share three months ago. The stock begins this holiday-shortened trading week at $6.20.It doesn't help that Rite Aid also posted a much larger quarterly loss than analysts were expecting in April. Adding fuel to the fire sale, the drugstore chain reports fresh financials on Thursday morning.There's always hope that Rite Aid eventually finds a suitable exit strategy. It never truly recovered from when shareholders shot down a proposed pairing with Walgreens a few years ago. It also has assets it may be able to unlock. Deutsche Bank stunned the market when it slashed its price target on Rite Aid from $16 to $1 three months ago. Deutsche Bank analyst George Hill has since boosted that price goal to $2, and then $4 on the potential for Rite Aid to raise money by selling its pharmacy benefits manager business, but he's sticking to his bearish sell rating. The upside is there if Rite Aid can ever get beyond its arrogance, but for now it has a pending quarterly earnings update, and that didn't go well last time.MicroStrategyThere's been something wrong with the crypto market in recent months, and the chaos is only intensifying. We've even seen a stablecoin and a decentralized finance platform slam on the brakes in the past couple of weeks. The market's confidence in digital currencies has been rattled, possibly to the point where it's irreversible. Where does that leave MicroStrategy?CEO Michael Saylor has gone all in on Bitcoin (BTC 6.58%). It's a decision that seemed brilliant when he invested billions in the top crypto as it was rising. But it's been disastrous on the way down. More to the point, the enterprise software company that Sailor should be focusing on was never exciting. We're talking about declining annual revenue in six of the past seven years. Bitcoin's crash is showing us that the emperor has no clothes, but it's not as if MicroStrategy itself was a snappy dresser before the costly infatuation with the imploding crypto market.CVR EnergyAfter back-to-back weeks of greater-than 5% slides, I want my third pick to be hopeful for a general market rebound. This means betting against an investment that's been rising as general markets are falling. One of the largest companies to have more than doubled in 2022 is CVR Energy.The petroleum refiner and maker of nitrogen fertilizer is booming alongside most oil and gas stocks this year. With petroleum prices soaring, it's easy to see why the stock is up 105% year to date. However, the good times aren't expected to last. Revenue and earnings are skyrocketing this year, but analysts see an 8% revenue decline come 2023, with earnings cut nearly in half. Looking back, it has also posted a larger-than-expected adjusted loss in two of the past three quarters. If the overall market starts to recover, there will be some rotation out of this red-hot sector. CVR Energy is doing a lot of things right, but even winners need to take a breather now and then.It's going to be a bumpy road for some of these investments. So the company&#39;s e-commerce sites are how many people engage with its services every day.</p><p>Yet many businesses rely on Amazon for an entirely different reason. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the dominant cloud computing platform. It&#39;s the infrastructure millions of organizations use to power their cloud-based applications. AWS makes it easy to access high-performance computing and storage, as well as an ever-growing array of cloud services. Cutting-edge technologies, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, are also readily available.</p><p>With lower up-front costs, it&#39;s often more cost-effective for start-ups to use AWS than building out their own data centers. AWS also gives small businesses access to many of the same tools as their larger rivals. And large companies can use AWS to quickly scale operations while gaining additional security above what their own on-premise networks could provide.</p><p>For these and other reasons, AWS has become a huge and fast-growing business for Amazon, as well as its most important profit driver. The segment&#39;s revenue surged 37% year over year to $18.4 billion in the first quarter alone, while its operating income soared an even more impressive 57%, to $6.5 billion.</p><p>With the shift to the cloud still in its early innings, AWS&#39; growth should continue to fuel Amazon&#39;s expansion for many years to come.</p><h2>2. Advertising is booming</h2><p>Digital advertising is another often-overlooked profit driver for Amazon. With so many consumers beginning (and often ending) their online shopping searches on Amazon, the company&#39;s ad platform has become an indispensable marketing tool for countless third-party merchants.</p><p>Amazon offers what few other companies can: the ability to advertise to consumers when they are most ready to buy. People go to the platform for the express purpose of searching for and purchasing the items they need and want. Conversion rates on its ad network thus tend to be much higher than on general search engines or social media sites. Merchants know this, and they&#39;re willing to pay large sums to gain access to these customers.</p><p>Amazon&#39;s advertising business, in turn, is growing rapidly. Ad revenue jumped 23% to a whopping $7.9 billion in the first quarter. With more ad spending moving to digital channels every day, Amazon&#39;s burgeoning ad business is set to grow far larger in the years ahead.</p><h2>3. The stock is cheap</h2><p>The broad market sell-off has battered the prices of even the best businesses this year. That includes Amazon, which has seen its share price shed more than a quarter of its value since the beginning of the year.</p><p>The stock now trades for roughly 20 times its projected operating cash flow of $121 per share in 2022.
